I've been here at least three times and I've never been unhappy or unsatisfied. Portions are great, and you can tell that the meat is marinated- well before cooking and never dry. We live in the present, where it seems customer service is nonexistent; but here, the customer service is genuine. This is a family owned business and they treat their customers as such. There is another Caribbean restaurant in GSO, but I would recommend here. Calypso Mama is winning

It was with baited anticipation that I arrived at Calypso Mama’s for dinner. This was as close to a Caribbean meal as I have had since Tortola 6 years ago. And I wasn’t disappointed. I had the Calypso Jerk Chicken (what else) which came with a side of curry potatoes. I’m not sure which was hotter, but both were incredible. By the end of the meal I had consumed the coke I got with dinner and a bottle of water, and was working on my second water as we left. The place was nicely laid out, brightly colored, and busy with carry-outs as well as diners like myself. Friendly, efficient, and clean with good food. What more do you want? A fair price, you say? Two of us ate for $22 and change. My only disappointment was I didn’t get to meet Mama.

Great authentic Jamaican food! Curry Goat was awesome, curry chicken Roti....ROTI. ROTI is homemade to order and Sooo goood!!!! I fantasized about it for days after eating it...was so good. Ox tails were ok, but couldve been more tender, with more gravy & portion size was less than the other dishes. Good for takeout, just have to get used to their business hours which are a little different than normal. Wish they were open all the time, but understand this is a family-run business so RESPECT!

Thanks so much for great food and wonderful customer service. I had the jerk chicken for lunch and came back ordering dinner to take home for my boyfriend and I driving 1 1/2 hours home. The food held great and was delicious! For dinner we had the jerk chicken, rice and peas, mac and cheese pie and cabbage. I'll definatly be back!

We were directed to Calypso Mama by GPS. We were looking for something different to eat and were pleasantly surprised. The food was authentic and fresh. We had the oxtail and spicy shrimp. It was excellent. The restaurant is off the highway a bit but it was clean and nicely decorated. Would definitely go there again when we're passing through again.

This was an amazing experience for my fiance and I! The food was amazing and reminded me of my family's cooking, which is hard to do since I travel for a living and had yet to make that connection. It was so good we got two additional roti to go for our leftovers. I will definitely be back in for another great dining experience. Pros: The food was very good and the staff was friendly. It didn't take as long as I was expecting for it to. If you want to take some home cooked food home, this is a good place. Also, the establishment looked very clean. Cons: If you're looking for a place that's an actual sit-down restaurant, this isn't it. Literally, I'd suggest ordering from here for some take out and that's it. Don't even plan on buying a drink from here. Also, there's no menu. There's daily specials I guess and it's on a chalk board at the front of the restaurant.

Here lately, they haven't been opening on time. This is the third time, I have called to place a order for lunch and was told, it'll either be after 1pm before I can pick up, or advising they are opening late. The food is good, but consistency on the operating hours is falling off...This is unfavorable, when they are the best Caribbean restuarant in town.

Good vibes, great food and friendly staff! As soon as you open your car door, you know.. it's going to be good! The smell of delicious food awaits inside! Walking into Calypso Mama, you are welcomed by a very clean dining room with kid friendly music playing. The colors are vibrant and really appealing and coordinated. The stereo keeps the mood alive as well. After ordering, you can help yourself to the drink cooler and wait for the meal to come out. There is a selection of fruity drinks not often seen in normal venues of America. These are the good stuff of drinks. The food is cooked fresh and made to order. When it comes out, it's surprisingly large portion and oh-so delicious!! To judge the made to order freshness, you'll either need to take my word for it or better, try it yourself. I'll be back to try the rest of the menu, soon! - Peppa Shrimp Spicy 10/10 - Jerk Chicken 10/10 The staff are very helpful and kid-friendly!

My husband had curry chicken rice pies and cabbage terrible the chicken was dry he was given small pieces with little meat on them I could gave him my juice from my Roti just cause people don’t know real Trini food that don’t mean you give them garbage !!!
