my husband and i found this place by accident, while out taking a walk in the area. i have a love for korean cuisine, from family background. the moment i walked into the door, i was thrown right back into my childhood at grandma's house. i was not disappointed by the food that came out. kimchi pancakes were hot and delicious, to such a point, that we had almost finished off the pancakes before the accompaniments came out, just moments later! soup and salad was presented next, to which my husband and i did our normal switch (i got both salads, he got both soups) - which i could see confused the waitress, but she just rolled with our oddity, as we used the extra accompaniments to go with the second part of the meal. i was in love with the different types of kimchi, but neither of us could do the celery/radish accompaniment, due to allergies that we had not stated (which is completely on us). side note about the kimchis... yes, there are different types. and the flavor profile greatly changes based on amount of spice, sweet bean paste, and vinegar used, let alone the types of vegetables the sauce is applied to. for the accompaniments, the standard low key spice, medium vinegar, and light bean paste was used, providing a clean crisp 'pickling' affect. but the kimchi for the pork bulgogi was nice and sour, ie extra vinegar, less bean paste, and longer fermentation. it cut the fattiness of the near bacon quality fried pork belly slices. the second spiced 'salad' was with bean sprouts, and added a light contrast. then top that with simple plain jasmine rice. i just couldn't get enough. NOMNOMNOMNOM! hubby got the garlic pork bulgogi, which was sweet and savory, and almost tasted like beef. as in, i kept mistaking it for beef, because not only did it look like thinly cut beef, but tasted like beef. both dishes came served on beds on onions, which to me, was just like being at grandma's house. hubby passed me his onions, which i added to my take-away box. which will probably be my breakfast this morning. :P we came in for a late lunch, and walked away with full bellies, and taste buds pleased for the rest of the night. i not only recommend this wonderful lunch experience, but i will be back so often, i will probably be known on a first name basis. XD another side note... IF you have never eaten korean cuisine, or never even met a korean or thai person, please be prepared for a different dining experience. this is not americanized take-out "chinese" food. korean manners are not the same as american manners, or even chinese or japanese manners. koreans have no problem pointing out that you may not like something, and consider that proper manners. they do not lie to you, and tell you that you will like something, that you probably won't, just to get a 'sell' - as that is bad manners and bad business sense, to them. missy that left a 1star for being told that you probably wouldn't like cold buckwheat noodles, i am talking DIRECTLY to you. it is VERY MUCH an acquired taste. growing up on korean/thai/laos cuisine, even i have to be in a very specific mood for cold noodle soup... and i typically eat everything put infront of me (save things i now know that i'm allergic to). if a thai or korean person tells you that you probably won't like something, take their advice, and go with what they think you WILL like. it is the pride of the chef, that they will know your palette, and prepare for you, something you will find INCREDIBLE. <3

I spent a couple of years in dungduchin, Korean and loved this place. It’s a hidden gem and great service. The food was absolutely great. Get the buldaegi house steak. Everyone should try this place out!

I come here literally every week to eat. I even befriended one of the servers. Sometimes I don’t even need a menu thanks to Dennis knowing my usual orders. Lately I’ve been eating the Dak Galbi, which is a hot spicy chicken barbecue with melted mozzarella cheese, which serves two! This place is an absolute rice thief because I always end up ordering extra rice. The service is always great and even if they make a mistake, they sincerely apologize. They definitely care deeply about the restaurant and their guests. I wish more people would review their positive experiences instead of their negative ones, especially the yelp website. Hopefully my review contributes to my friend, Buldaegi.

I have been to many Korean BBQ in the past which I very much have enjoyed. This particular place was the worst on my list. The food was decent, not many complaints there. In the other hand the restaurant appears to be unfinished and not ready for business. The staff, friendly very much so, but clearly not experienced/trained.

Feels like we've been waiting an eternity for this place to open, and finally the wait is over!! The food was delicious. We got the spicy pork Dolsot Bibimbap, and it was good. Very flavorful, good amount of spice. Only complaint I have is the rice didn't have the crunchy texture to it that it should when served in the stone bowl. Nothing to lose a star over though.

Enjoyed my LA Kalbi beef short ribs for lunch today! Very tender and well marinated. Pricing is very similar to Korean BBQ elsewhere, maybe a bit more than a Korean restaurant that doesn't focus on BBQ. Staff was attentive and very friendly. You can tell that they are new to this, but they seem to be working hard to take feedback and make the experience better. The food is definitely their strong point, which is good, because the food is why you go there. :) I recommend Buldaegi, and will be going back myself.

Wonderful experience. Delicious food, great atmosphere, wonderfully friendly staff. My husband and I had Saturday lunch date here, everything was perfect.

Ryan Donald

Had the Dak Galbi, different than what I am use to but it was a perfect serving size for two people and the spice level was perfect. We really enjoyed this place.

Great food and polite and friendly staff. The food arrived quickly also and the menu has a good amount of options but not an overwhelming amount. Pertaining to some other reviews on this page: something you should know about Korean food is that it is not normally prepared with vegetables in the dish itself because the vegetables come on the side. The vegetables on the side are not cooked but are seasoned or pickled and are fresh. This makes it more nutritious because the nutrients are not being cooked out. This place is great. This is the opinion of someone whose mother is Korean and taught her how to cook such food.

Anna Christopher

I really enjoy eating at Buldaegi! The staff are always kind, and the service is both quality and quick. The food is always good, too - we have been multiple times and never been unsatisfied. I definitely recommend eating here.

Jennifer Kim

I tried spicy cold noodles and tonkasu for dinner, and foods were very delicious. Good customer service. I love everything about the restaurant and will definitely come back.

Allyson Perez

Great food at a great price! Staff was friendly and responsive. Everything we had was delicious, and you can tell how much they care about quality from the attention to detail in every aspect. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough, Cary is very lucky to have such an incredible Korean BBQ restaurant!

waited an hour for an appetizer to come out. They dont serve u anything (including appetizers or side dishes) until actual dish is ready. Got Gamja-Tang (Pork based potato soup) and it tasted like watery miso soup.

Tamara Hope Joyner

They're open! Dinner was great! We had the potato pancakes, bibimbap and spicy pork bulgogi. All of it was awesome! We will definitely be back!

Very clean, great food. Menu is small so you know the quality is the focus in the kitchen.

This was very good food. The staff was very friendly and they got us our food in a timely manner. All around it was a very pleasant experience. The portions good sized and we got our variety of side dishes to compliment our meal. I am very happy with this restaurant and hope to come back.

Scott Christie

A lovely restaurant with polite staff and delicious food. I had the curry noodles, which were delicious. I'm so excited that they're finally open.

J Holland

Not sure about the food but the waiter was very unpleasant. No Customer service. Being new to the area and the restuarant and wanting to try a differnt cuisine. The waiter acted as if it PAINED him to answer my question in reference to the food. This was a take out order, if i had not already paid, I would have left and went to the restuarant next door.

Richard Marvill

Enjoyed the Mak Guksu and some dumplings tonight. Hot pepper sauce added some nice heat. Friendly staff. Just what we needed on a rainy night.

Dylan Smith

This place is fantastic. I've yet to have a less than stellar meal here. They're very quick, the food is phenomenal and beats all the other Korean around here. Their kimchi pancake is the best I've had. They're in the process of getting hot pot tables in. I can't imagine a better Korean restaurant in town.

Brad Raynor

Place is absolutely amazing, the food is delicious and can be a very unique experience. The rice bowl I got was in a hot stone bowl, food still cooking as it came out. So great. The staff is always super nice and friendly. Very welcoming and helpful with anything on the menu.

Brian Lischin

Not a bbq house, food had no flavor, tasted like boiled beef.

Guillermo Zavala

Server I usually end up with is great and the food is amazing reminds me of when I was in Korea . Thank you .

Jen S

Great food and service! The spicy cheesy chicken galbi was incredible!

Never having eaten here before, I asked the server questions about the menu. He pointed out 2 menu items and said they were an "acquired taste" and that they were "too authentic" for me. Wow. That's assuming a lot about someone you've never met, especially considering I love trying new things and think everything is worth trying at least once. His behaviour was so condescending, I almost walked out then. Instead, I confronted the server about it and tried to explain that it might be less offensive if he said something more like "Have you ever had this before? Some people find the texture chewy, etc." He told me not to tell him how to do his job and asked me if I had just come in to give him a hard time. I asked to speak with the manager and he told me it's a family business, his mother is the chef and owner and that she wouldn't care what I thought. I have to say I've never run into such arrogance or been made to feel so unwelcome in a restaurant before. He went into the back and spoke with presumably his mother. When he came back out he told me they were refunding my money and that I should leave immediately. It was seriously the worst experience I've ever had in a restaurant, and I didn't even taste the food. Edit--In response to reply below: Rather than leave a negative review, I tried to give you some constructive criticism, to which you reacted very poorly, to put it mildly. But as you told me at the restaurant, "it's your word against mine." You can put whatever spin on this that you want. As I see it, one of two things will happen. Either my advise will do something and you'll stop being so condescending to people, or you'll keep treating people the same way and it will eventually become more than just my word against you. There are plenty of other restaurants for me to eat at and the success or failure of your business is your concern, not mine. This review won't make or break your restaurant. But let's be clear: the only one to bring up race through this whole interaction has been you. As a point of personal pride and integrity, I cannot ignore an accusation of racial slurs. This simply did not happen.

Great food and service!

Rektatron

Nice place, enjoyed the service.

Taylor K

The buldaegi steak and curry noodles were so good! It was a little pricey, but the quality exceeds. There is more meat than vegetables, unlike other restaurants. The service is so friendly, and I am excited to have found a Korean restaurant in the triangle area.
