This Restaurant is classified in the category of French restaurant.
Incredible restaurant. We came here around 7:30 on Sunday and were immediately seated in the private back room. Our service was top notch and the food all tasted great. The food was very fairly priced for the high quality. I would very highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting downtown Asheville.
Very disappointing experience. We ordered mussels and charcuterie to start. Mussels were mediocre in a bland broth. Charcuterie was also mediocre. Three out of our table's four entrees arrived cold. Server out them back in oven. My steak which I ordered rare arrived cold and medium. After being reheated in oven it was served to me medium well. Sauce was almost tasteless. Would not go back or recommend.
Very nice and cozy
Amazing food and service!
You can't go wrong with all you can eat Mussels & Frites (Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday).
An elegant bar upstairs while you wait and the best escargot and duck in the city. You won't be disappointed!
Top place to eat in Asheville!
Found out about this restaurant by searching for the best bread pudding in Asheville. Definitely be there by 4:30/4:45 because there was a line. Food was delicious and cooked perfectly, and the bread pudding was delicious! Will definitely be back!
Always a delight!
There's a wait, but the food is more than worth it. The staff is very knowledgeable as well.
Excellent food at reasonable prices.
Delicious food in an unpretentious atmosphere. Very cozy and welcoming! I highly recommend this establishment especially the beautifully prepared salmon and fresh salads.
This is a French bistro owned by a former Frenchman. He serves French comfort food. And it's really good. We ordered mussels & "French" fries. It's always great.
Good folks. Good food. Very nice.
The man I was before the French onion soup and the man I am now are not the same. Yes, it's that good. Great atmosphere, amazing service, a true staple of Asheville!
Excellent spot for a fine meal. Friendly staff and the owner came to visit our table. We got lucky to have a party of 6 sat so quickly as they do not take reservations here.
There is an upstairs lounge that was really the best part of the visit. Its quaint, good drinks and apps and it has outside seating for groups, couples or singles. We waited while the table was ready, about 45 mins. I wish we had the crepes, but it was late and we decided on diner. Being that this is a French place I was expecting more from the escargot and the mussels. We were disappointed. The mussels had barely any of the broth and they ended up being almost dry. The escargot was flavorless, tasted just heavy garlicky butter because they were literally swimming in it. I had a beef medallions with a cognac sauce that was very good. The potatoes au gratin was flavorless, the veggies were the best part of the meal. We had a good diner but being that there are so many good places around, we will probably not come back.
Small cozy bistro with delicious French bistro fare!
Fantastic food, great atmosphere, great service, divine deserts. Great for a date.
The vegetarian pasta was good with the red house wine. We had good guidance on wine parings for dessert. I suggest the sauternes with the nutella cheesecake. Cheers!
Dinner was outstanding if you are in Asheville NC it is a must have. The fries are superb and the steak poivre was wonderful. Get the at 5 because Bouchon doesn't take reservations.
Sat at bar and had lots of laughs. Great food, wine.
Delightful little place! We visited while on vacation and were pleasantly impressed. French onion soup was fantastic as was the French martini. The salmon and mussels were also very tasty. Quaint little dining experience.
Great food and service day after day
This is the place i choose to come shortly after my wife an I got married. At first i was sceptical just because of the wait. They told us an hour, sure enough though an hour later we had our table ready. During that time we enjoyed amazing drinks at the bar upstairs can't really remember the name. As soon as we got to the table i could tell it was absolutely worth the wait. Service was impeccable, an the food was outstanding. My suggestion is the all you can eat mussels! Ten stars if i could give it to them. Everything was amazing drinks, service, food, atmosphere.
Dear Bouchon, the food and the service is amazing. However, please invest in Air Conditioning. There is nothing worse than profusely sweating while your trying to eat and drink. People would spend way more money eating and drinking if it was comfortable.
I loved the food, the location, and the atmosphere. Everything was top notch. It will be a memorable birthday dinner. Everything down to the silverware was elegant and beautiful. The bread is also amazing.
Nice atmosphere and good service. Meal arrived cold and improperly seasoned. Very bland. Kitchen staff probably rushed and overwhelmed.
Lovely food every time I go. Polite and helpful wait staff and fast moving kitchen. One of my favorite date restaurants.
Excellent service as always; Even the house wine was great! Wish we got an appetizer
My husband and I absolutely love French cuisine, and this place is by far the best French restaurants in the area! We've traveled to France numerous time, and find that the food here is quite comparable to the real deal. The atmosphere, service, food and drink is all well worth 5 stars. Always happy to come here for an exceptional meal.
We visited last year around this time. We are returning tonight the food is fabulous French food. I wish they would take reservations. We are visiting from out of town.
The duck fat fries are on point!
Disappointed! Walked in, felt like 100 degrees. But wanted to give it a try. Food came out surprisingly quickly. But the food was horrible, over cooked meat. Not fresh fish!
Reminded us of our favorite French bistro in London. Excellent menu - very authentic! Great service. Disappointed with homeless person outside restaurant .....
Definitely a great place to eat! The food is fantastic and the atmosphere is so wonderful. The price isn’t bad either, especially for how good the food is.
Great food and service
Great food at this popular, atmospheric bistro. The mussels and fries are yummy. Cozy lounge upstairs too.
Nice hide away bar upstairs!
*Food was Divine *Customer care was above average *Pricing was competitive Overall experience was quite enjoyable
Came here while working 2 years ago and had to find it again. It did not disappoint! Delicious and top of the line staff.
This place is a gem! We enjoyed a wonderful family dinner here. The food was excellent, the staff friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere just perfect. The Louisiana mussels, lamb chops, and lobster ravioli were all to die for. Thank you for the delicious meal and terrific night out!
Great service, went back for the second year in a row and had the same excellent experience. I got the Steak au poivre and it was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy. Get there as soon as it opens, we arrived at 5:10 and got the last table
Always amazing food. The duck is incredible.
Bar lounge excellent mussels and trout delicious overall good vibe
Nice decor and ambiance. The food was delicious and the staff friendly. Very busy, so go expecting to wait. We were told a 45 minute wait, but it was only 25. While waiting, nip upstairs for cocktails. The chicken cordon blue was amazing, the vegetables we're perfectly cooked. Reasonably priced food and drinks. Can't wait to go again.
We loved enjoying a drink and a delicious onion soup upstairs at l'Ecluse. Dinner downstairs was nice, both desserts were to fall for.
I would not normally write a review for a mediocre food however the waitress (Jenny) had a nasty attitude. Not a way to treat your customers
Had the quail and the mussels. Everything was really good, would definitely go back to try other things.
They're so creative! Love the vegetarian choices offered! Our wattres directed me to the perfect option, the special. Sooo delicious!!
Intimate, authentic, with an excellent waitstaff. We had a fantastic Bordeaux with three marvelous entrees and a perfect creme brûlée. Tres bien!
Fun vibe and great food!
Loved it! You have to get the French fries just because. All of our food was very good. We really enjoyed our experience. We had reservations and that is a good idea as it is usually crowded because it is very good food.
The atmosphere is beautiful and the staff was charming and well versed in the menu. The meal, however, was unflattering and bordered on bland given the eloquence used in it's description. My son ordered the steak frites medium rare and it arrived rare medium, not too disappointing, but the steak itself was chewy and stringy. The lamb arrived overcooked and heavily salted, while the couscous was bland not memorable. My wife's mussels were properly cooked, the broth was disappointing and flat. I'd say this was better a cocktail and appetizers location.
Terrible. Overcooked duck. Rabbit taste like some badly coocked chicken. Coctails and meat plate were ok.
Amazing and attentive staff, very professional and nice. The food was very tasty, it was my first time trying French and I'm glad I went to Bouchon!
Excellent French Restaurant in the heart of Downtown Asheville. Quite busy, but worth the wait. Brings back memories of Paris. Highly recommend!
The food is incredible. We keep going back for more! Tonight's standout was the mushroom tatin appetizer, which was prepared with a balsamic reduction.
Food is delicious, friendly environment
Delicious! We sat outside in a charming side alley. We had 3 courses and 2 happy customers.
AMAZING French comfort food! Escargot was excellent, as was the rest of the food
The food was amazing! The environment was perfect! Our waitress knew everything about the food and could answer every question we had. Incredible time! Highly recommend!
Incredible food and great service! I was looking forward to dining at Bouchon and it definitely lives up to the hype! They do not do reservations but we waited about ten minutes at the bar until we were seated so that wasn’t so bad! My mom started off with escargot which was just buttery, garlicy deliciousness. I had steak and frites which was prepared perfectly. The POMMES FRITES are a must order, perfectly crispy and not too salty with the addicting red pepper mayo! We finished the epic meal with crepe suzette and chocolate mouse which were both divine in their own right! I highly recommend Bouchon to anyone that will listen!
Excellent meal. Great service.
The only place I eat steak!
Loved the food, both entrees and the dessert. We were not crazy about the onion soup, but the rest more than made up for it. The salmon was the best I've had anywhere in a long time, and the bouillabaisse was excellent. Great service.
Food was wonderful. The duck was superb
Really good food
Good service and great food. No reservations so be prepared to wait but it's worth the wait
So we came in and although it was a wait, they had a comfy bar area upstairs. When the wait was over, we came back down and ordered our food. This is some of the best food I have ever eaten, the creme brûlée is award winning, and it’s an amazing place. This is a hidden gem. I love this place!!!
Thursday night steak tartar
Great food and relaxed ambiance make this a can't-miss dining experience. My wife and I started with the lobster ravioli app, which was creamy, savory and delicious. Similar to what you would expect from a place that delivers French comfort food, the app was on the heavy side. Luckily we opted for the 4 ravioli option, leaving us room for our mains. On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday Bouchon has all you can eat mussels and fries. We opted for that option with my wife getting the Mediterranean mussels while I had the Louisiana style mussels with extra spice. Both pots were well-seasoned and delicious. The frites were very salty but were toned down by the red pepper aioli. I had another half kilo of the PBR (Paris-Born Redneck) mussels. Those were delicious as well- large and plump. My wife was full from her one pot and I was stuffed after one and a half. Can't wait to go back and try their traditional French dishes. Know before you go- they do run out of the AYCE mussel option, so go on the early side if that's your desired dish.
This was our first time here. The food was excellent and the service was average. Note that they don't have kid friendly food.
Ok this is a great example of customer service
Great food. Great service. Lively atmosphere in downtown sceane. We had duck , mussels, French onion soup. All very good Nice wine selection
Stopped in for dinner with my sister and a friend. There was an hour wait so we went to the cocktail lounge. Only to be verbally assaulted by an over served woman. As a frequent patron of Bouchon I was disappointed that she wasn’t asked to leave. Aside from this I always enjoy escargot, rabbit and wines.
Excellent meal although a bit accidented.. i wanted the rabbit, but feel to the floor, so had the the duck, delicious. We ordered the crepes Suzette, and we got them but through some magnificent mistake i also got the african queen cre6oe, to die for. We will definitely be back and i would recommend to my family.
Not big on French food though they have an amazing French onion soup and cheesecake. They're extremely busy so I would recommend making a reservation. Definitely worth checking out
Amazing atmosphere and food! The mussels are delicious. Recommend to everyone.
Great French and in some ways creole food. The owner is amazing. The prices are inexpensive and delicious. By far must visit and eat place in Asheville.
The service was wonderful -- we ate at the bar. The mushroom puffed pastry dish (vegetarian) was so delicious and paired perfectly w a red wine that the bartender recommended. Tres bien!
Excellent service and food.
Great ambiance, great food and Bartender Abbey makes the best espresso martini's ever! Service is awesome!!
The restaurant itself is very small and cramped. I was seated quickly as a single diner, but several times throughout the evening my waiter had to wait and then squeeze himself by other diners to get to me. I love sweet bread (thymus) and had to try it as my appetizer! It was definitely edible, but nothing to write home about. My entree was a seasonal autumn chicken dish that was absolutely to die for.
Best place and food, excellent service.
we ate upstairs @ L' Excluse as downstairs @ Bouchon had a 2 hour wait on Christmas Eve! not uncommon here...the food and atmosphere is so great! The best Pomme Frites in town... French Fries to the non french speakers!
We had such a wonderful dinner. Worth the wait for a table.
The best part of this restaurant is the upstairs waiting area to have drinks before dinner. Great ambience and comfy chairs and sofas to sit on. The beef bourguignon was poorly executed with nothing but beef and heavy tasting sauce… Very little potatoes or vegetables or anything else. The lobster ravioli however was very good but not great.
Best meal of the week
Dinner was delicious. However, it took a while, about 45 minutes for the order to come out, and when it did, my wife's dish was cold. We think we were somehow forgotten. Her dish was taken back and nuked in the microwave, which seemed odd to me. However, she said it tasted good.
Ine our our favorites here in Asheville. Looking forward to the new location opening soon!
Loved it. No call ahead reservations but you can put your name and phone number in. There is a lounge /speak easy above where you can wait and have drinks and small plates. Bar is available for first come seating. Good wine selection, two beers on draft one of which will be kronenbourg 1664, the other a local selection. Worth a wait.
Great service, super fun atmosphere. The muscles are fantastic.
Excellent service and food
Hidden gem in the center of Ashville. Superb kitchen in the downstairs restaurant.
Bouchon is one if my favorite restaurants in Asheville. We are not tourists, but Locals, who can't get enough of this place. I luv the duck, cooked perfectly, delicious and very tasty. I've had several other dishes, and NEVER disappointed! We're Finally going back this Saturday August 10th for my xxth Birthday! First, Kir Royale in the upstairs lounge to start, then a fabulous meal! Cannot wait!
Best fave go to for all special occasions.
The food is delicious! Have the escargot and French onion soup! I have always had wonderful service and the atmosphere is lovely. During nice weather I recommend sitting outside.
This place has fantastic food and an elegant but not stiff atmosphere. The sitting area upstairs for waiting is cute & offers drinks and a selection of appetizers. Don’t skip out on dessert either - they have great choices and dessert cocktails as well! We went early and ate at the bar both nights. The bartender was friendly and attentive. Everything we had was amazing and reasonably priced. We can't wait to go back!
It was great, but get there before they open because they don't take reservations.
Have. The. Lamb. This was the best meal I have had in my 52 years on this Earth. Wow!
We enjoyed a late dinner here a few weeks ago. It had been years since I had escargot, but it was as delicious as I remembered. Great wine. Helpful and friendly staff. Cozy setting. Worth a trip.
Amazing food! My only complaint is they open at five so you have to wait. Other than that, Nothing bad to say at all. Delicious food and bilingual staff.
Superb flavor, quality, and presentation. Top notch service. No reservations accepted and expect a wait.
Loved it...wonderful french bistro., excellent food.
We came for dinner, but there was an hour long wait so we went to the cocktail lounge. We ate some appetizers and had some cocktails. It was actually the perfect amount for us! Definitely would like to come back for dinner one day.
Went for our anniversary 7/30 and our waitress was very accommodating as we wanted to slowly enjoy our meal. The French Onion soup had too much bread, and our cheese board was a bit small and not that spectacular. Next time, would go with the pate. The entrees were fantastic, I had chicken cordon blue. It was the tenderest chicken I have ever had. My husband had a spiced snapper which was delicious. Opted for chocolate mousse for dessert which was good, but nothing to write home about. Great wine selections one of the most professional waitresses I have ever had. She allowed us to dine at a nice pace. Would return as there are so many menu items I would like to try!
Always love going here. The food is Great!
Steak poivre& frittes are fantastic! Staff great, but don't recommend escargot or mussels. Be prepared to pay high prices for
Our family couldn't get in at first then we came back and sat outside. So very worth the return. Food was what we were expecting from a french restaurant and service great also. Will return
Best frites in town. All you can eat mussels several nights a week. Great food and service, only the noise level keeps them from a 5th star.
Food never disappoints and is affordable.
The best meal I have had anywhere, including France. All three courses superlative. And of course the service is lovely.
Excellent local take on French bistro classics. The French fries live up to the hype. A small space, prepare to be cozy with your neighbors, but the food is top notch.
My favorite restaurant in Asheville, Bouchon offers traditional French food, freshly prepared, by good wait staff. This time I had mussels - I bowl full with Mediterranean broth, then a 1/2 bowl with blue cheese and bacon added. Yummy!
Excellent food and service. The French fries are worth the hype and the roasted garlic is right up there with it. My boyfriend got the trout and said it was like butter. I had the roasted chicken. Delicious. Fair price for upscale dining in downtown Asheville. We really enjoyed ourselves
We just got a bunch of apps and they were great. I have listed from our favorite to least favorite. Everything was great though and great atmosphere. Also be prepared to wait a little bit. We got escargots, meat and cheese plate (the patè was amazing), fries (pepper mayo was awesome), bread and garlic and the pumpkin soup. You could pass on the soup it didn’t have much flavor to it at all, although it smelled amazing.
The food was incredible, be sure to order the pomme frites - they are delicious
This could be my favorite local dinner spot! Enjoy fine conversation and yummy drinks at the downstairs bar with the delightful Abby, or, wonderful dining with Lindsay, Fuller or Shannon, order anything, every entree is my favorite. NEVER skip pom frites!!!
Food is great. Staff is friendly. The place is small and there is often a wait of more than 30 min for a table if you arrive at a busy time. Not a place to bring the kids but great for a romantic dinner for 2.
Great food! Great service! Loved it!
This is a great place. Friendly for Asheville, the food is on point and the price is fair.
The mussels are great and on Mon.,Tues.,Wed. are a great price for all you can eat. The Sammon Dijonaise was fantastic as well. The staff are friendly and the feel is cozy.
Great escargot, beef bourgeois and duck. Get there early to get a table without wait
After a long night, the food was good my lamb was 2/3 nicely seasoned. But I'll take it. The dessert variety is quite large and quite delicious. The staff was very polite and very kind, the only thing we didn't liked was the wait but honestly it wasn't a big deal. Totally should visit this place
All you can eat mussels.. wow.. excellent t
Very good, multiple times coming here. Switch it up each time and have not been disappointed yet.
The most delicious food and perfect wine to match. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. My only complaint is the Butter is unsalted - and if that’s the worst thing then you have GOT to go there!
Amazing boeuf bourguignon. Thoroughly enjoyed this quaint French restaurant, a lot of charm and a nice atmosphere.
Excellent food and service
Comfortable yet classy atmosphere. Very good vodka martini. All you can eat muscles. Great service. Well done.
Real authentic French cuisine! You get what you pay for, the best!
Food was great but the experience ruined it for me. Since it was stated there would be an hour and a half wait we chose to sit at the bar windows. Unfortunately we didn’t realize that this was such a pet friendly restaurant as we ended up having to share that space with patrons that brought their dogs to dinner. Not one dog, not two dogs, but THREE different dogs sniffing us and barking at us while we attempted to eat our dinner. I have pet dander allergies and but never expected this to be an issue at a restaurant. Please don’t advertise this seating area as a full service dinner area if you can’t at least ensure that people can enjoy their dinner undisturbed.
Seriously the sweet breads were the best I've ever had and the steak au poivre was even better. Cozy feel inside too (usually that means cramped which it is but it fits the place perfectly). Anyway, everything was great, definitely try this place out.
5 different meals and they were all enjoyed ✔️
If I had to choose a final meal before I die it would be their mussels with blue cheese and bacon. This was the best meal I've ever had. We were seated at the bar during an extremely busy time of the night and Abby took wonderful care of us. How she managed to fill drink orders for seated guests and take care of everyone at the bar too was mystifying. We never sat for too long without a refill or food. I'm so impressed by the level of quality to the food and the service. Thank you so much for an amazing meal.
Bouchon is one of those places where the atmosphere and the food meet to create an excellent eating experience. The food is always fresh and cooked to perfection. There is nothing remotely bad on the menu. Enjoy!
Very good food great service and quick setting
