REVIEWS OF Utsav IN New York

MJ Nathan

We had a very bad experience. The restaurant manager I presume was incredibly racist. We were a party of 5 South Indians living in NY. We got in at 5:00 PM at Utsav - Preferable I'd call it Shit'sav The story: We were in NYC for my wife's b'day. We go in to this restaurant for an evening snack. We are asked to wait for 30 mins for a table. Perfectly fine and normal on a Friday evening. As we were waiting on the wait area, I ask the receptionist if they can serve us tea/coffee here as that is all we want. She says no they cannot and asks us to wait to be seated inside. I once again tell her we are not here for a full course meal but just for some snacks (Appetizers/Starters and Tea/Coffee). She says okay. And my brother in law sitting on the couch in the waiting area put his legs up on the empty coffee after a long day's walk in the city. With in seconds the receptionist rushes in saying customers are complaining about his disrespectful act of putting up his legs on the table. An Indian thing. She was just sore of seeing some black Indians. She made up some reasons for asking him to take his legs off the table. She mentioned customers - which means she did not think us as customers. We probably went there begging for food Now after we get in, we immediately tell the waiter we are here for appetizers and coffee/tea. She goes in that case you should not have come in. We cannot do that at this time. You should order main course if you want to get in. She says we are really busy. At this time there are three empty tables and no one waiting outside. I confronted her asking if she is unhappy to serve us and if that is case we are happy to get out. She goes you are just wasting my time. I was flabbergasted. Eventually my party says we will just order, eat and get out. We did. Food was not bad. But there was clear discrimination. Indian to Indian racism this. She clearly did not like our skin color. She loathed us. She is sick. And how, being an immigrant herself in America. Even Americans do not treat us badly. We have always felt welcomed here. And the last person we would expect to racially discriminate us would be Indians. Well.. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant

Standout Indian Food in Times Square. By far my favorite Indian in all of Midtown - great food, ambience and service. Super top notch!

Mitali Jain

Well, there are a lot of factors which make this an average dining restaurant to me. We ordered paneer masala and dal makhani. The paneer masala was unnecessarily creamy which suppressed the taste of the gravy. The dal makhani was just like another dal tadka. They didn't serve rice as a complimentary dish which is usually served at such restaurants. Not a place worth visiting again to me.

Leslie Brenan

To be honest the service should be 1star. There were 2 waitresses and they couldnt answer basic questions about the food in the menu! They were pretty rude and mean, because we just wanted more information about the food! However the food was nice, but the whole experience with this place was meh!

Sivaguru S.

Good ambience, tasty food and courteous service

Jaz Paul

Me and my friends had lunch today and we love it . The best food in NYC . We will go again and try all yummy

Govind Seshadri

Great taste...this place has maintained the quality of food served.

Luke

English man in New York! Great place. We came as a family and enjoyed the food and drink that we had it is a well designed place and a good setting to enjoy with family and friends. Would recommend a visit. If you not sure what to order ask the staff they are helpful in recommending what is great right now.

Sharon Sklar

Excellent food. Wonderful atmosphere. Will return for sure!

Matthew Schulke

Food was amazing. Dining experience was all around great. Will be coming back.

John Andriotis

Had an amazing meal there last night with friends, the service was impeccable and the prices were very reasonable for the quality of food that we had. I highly recommend this place, a very authentic Indian restaurant! Will definitely return..

Vaghasiya Bhargav

Great place for the indian dinner in new york.

Devendra Lingojwar

One of the Best vegetarian buffet in Manhattan for Indian vegetarian food, as all Indian origin restaurants provides only veg non-veg together in Manhattan (for pure vegetaria, you need to visit Indian street, in Jersey city, NJ). I had been here twice and found best quality both times. Service is also very good. Very comfortable for even first time visiting Indias as well as party for American friends. Location : Nearest from times square, just 0.1 mile. Locality is very good and ambience is excellent.

Amit Arora

Very near to times square, good Indian food with courteous staff

Gaurav B Sharma

Good joint for all you can eat buffet during lunch. For price they charge - not good enough variety for desserts (2 at most) and dry tandoori appetizers ( only 1 - usually a tandoori chicken legs)

Naman Jain

Was looking forward to this place but was disappointed a bit. Have tried vegetarian food there. It was OK, paneer was too sweet for me. Appetizers were good and so as the desserts. Naan was not properly cooked.

Nikesh Jha

Prices are high, quantity is low, quality is average, service is slow and pathetic..

Rajender Mohan

Authentic Indian restaurant with unmatched hospitality.

havoc heart

Food was okay..... ridiculously expensive for a normal food. $40 prefix menu for an appetizer, entree and desert. And all small Portions!! two small samosa and small bowl of rice and spinach and a small kulfi portion.... seriously count those for 43 bucks? Ain't worth it at all when so many other options around in midtown if you want indian/pak food. The wait was also super long to bring everything. NEVER again!!

Sarah Johnson

I am a vegetarian and I see many reviews regarding chicken dishes however, I do want to add there are plenty of options for me! I work in midtown and frequent the lunch buffet around noon (always vegetarian options) and also love dining after work with friends. Some of my favorites to order include the mixed veggie and cheese dumpling (I love the creamy cashew onion sauce), The mixed vegetable Korma, the onion fritters and Aloo Gobi (Sauteed cauliflower & potato with fresh tomatoes). The food is always fresh and the prices are always wonderful!

Brian Cho

Buffett lunch: premium prices due to location. Selection is hit or miss. On some days, you will have a lot of meat options, but on others, you may have only 2-3 items to choose from. Given the price, on those meager option days, it doesn't provide much value. Ambiance is pleasant and it is a good place for a lunch with colleagues.

saumya b verma

Lovely spread of Indian curries (veg/non veg), lentils and breads. The afternoon buffet is great if you want to explore Indian flavours. Service is courteous and prompt. Great place for an office or family outing

gubendran lakshmanan

Food was good. It's expensive for the cost we pay. I wish they add ice-cream and fruits to in desserts. They have very less options in buffet

Deepankar Chakraborty

Try to teach manner first to your staffs,Then serve good food. The front guy is very very unprofessional. I don't know how those people get jobs who don't know to respect customers. Worst EXPERIENCE ever. Very disappointed with the main course. I would suggest you to go other Indian restaurant just one or two blocks away from here. Foods are also worse. Yaak.

J Mac

Best Indian restaurant we have been to. The food and service was just outstanding. All of the dishes had so much flavor but were not as heavy as normal Indian cuisine. 5 star!

Phantom_Blaze

This place has very delicious food and has reasonable prices for New york but its suprising that they dont have a good ratings and customers even though they have very good food and a beautiful restaurant

ncr chaudhary

Need to increase size of the portion and table size for 2 is very small..I understand it's new york and rent is very high but if u can't keep even Ur hands on table ..it's not fun eating.Big size table for family is ok but they need to work on sitting n interiors.Food is tasty and good.Daal Triveni is Good too.The owner/ manager seemed thoughtful and caring but quality of restaurants back in India is so high that it seems average back here in New York plus concept of fine dining can not work when u make 2 different person sit on same sofa but 2 small tables facing each other.Space constrains or economy..!! Can be made more better definately.

Krishna Narasimhan

A average Indian restaurant near Times Square. The restaurant has seating on the upper level and small improvised bar area on the lower level. They serve a buffet during lunch which has a wide selection of dishes with several choices for vegetarians. Better than the typical Indian lunch buffets but significantly more pricey too. Dinner is a la carte and offers several choices as well. Service in general is below average compared to restaurants of comparable quality. It feels slow and disinterested.

Birinder Saini

Good Place and yummy food.

Asim Jain

Good food but doscoutious staff

Jagan Eedula

Decent food.bit expensive.they have limited options in buffet but what ever items they have are good.

Jignesh Gor

They need to provide more veggie appetizers instead just one.

Jerry Joseph

As the manager of Utsav I would like to respond to the review that mentions the lack of Air Conditioning on Saturday night. This is the night of the loss of electric power throughout midtown Manhattan. We told everyone that we sat that the blackout knocked out our air conditioning and that its warm in the dining room due to issues beyond our control. It doesn't seem fair to accept seating after our notice and then to complain about it. In reference to the diner that mentions that we charge for onions, the plate as listed in the menu is for onions, lemons and peppers that is $2 not $4 and listed on the menu.

Ketu Shah

A really nice restaurant with great ambiance. The food tasty, service is nice. Classic New York style Indian taste. The price is sub-par if you factor in the location as it's in prime area. Their lunch buffet is really nice with great varieties.

Matthew Aversa

Utsav is my go to for affordable Indian food when I'm in New York! Last night's experience definitely solidified that.

Ranjan Chari

Nice location. Bright and comfortable seating. Buffet is not too spicy which is good.

Deepak Tiwary

A good facility when it comes to Indian food near time square. Good taste. I like their ambience. Their dal makhni is a must try.

Manuel Fragoso

After a couple of days eating burgers and shakes, Utsav's curries were a treat! Very nice curry in the heart of NYC! Only 4 stars because the staff can be a bit slow and ignore you...

Urooj Ansari

The customer service was good, they were prompt. Got the food quickly but experience was not that great. The quantity for the price was way too less. Also the food didnt taste that awesome.

meet parikh

Taste is good but service is opposite. Food seems good with quality but have to wait for serve even the food is ready .

Jennifer Hedley

During my recent visit to Manhattan with my husband I tried the Chicken Angarey which comes grilled with a spiced tomato chili sauce. The dish had the right amount of chili spice with a tomato base - I finished it all! My meat loving husband ordered the Tandoori Lamb Chops which he described as being tender and juicy with meat that fell off the bone. The marinade accentuated the meat with wonderful flavor and did not overpower. Upon our arrival the staff was friendly and helpful and went above and beyond with exceptional service. 5 stars!!

Mike A

Great food! Not just for tourists!

Christopher Dunn

Utsav is brilliant. The traditional Indian food, as well as their "fusion" dishes, are outstanding. This is the best Indian food I've had, not just in the city, but anywhere in the US. Fabulous!

Michelle Cooper

While visiting New York we had a real craving for Indian. We happened upon this restaurant and were extremely pleased with the experience. Our waiter (Ashwin) was amazing. The food was delicious. Probably one of the best Indian restaurants we have been to. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Thank you!

deepak arora

Great place for the indian dinner in Manhattan.

T M

It has good food but we ordered pretty ordinary food. It has good reviews so try it and order something unusual.

Rohan Tigadi

If only I could give a no star! They hardly entertain if you want to reorder while the waiter makes faces as though you are doing a blunder when you call him.

Christopher Florentino

Very good Indian buffet, but not cheap.

Francisn Bell

Super high quality food, and often times... inventive. Worth trying for sure.

Clinton Hendershott

Delish food and great service!!! We had the coconut chicken!! Owner very friendly. The atmosphere was really beautiful and relaxing! Still thinking about our meal - have to go back!

Bryan B

Limited buffet choices but give a good sense of the flavors of India. You can ask for more chili's if there isn't enough heat in your dish. Overall it is a good choice for lunch to get you in and out with plenty of good flavors to remember.

Srini U

Excellent Place to taste indian food!

Ryan Shea

Utsav was nothing short of spectacular when me and my friend dined there this week. The professionalism from the staff, mixed with tasty options like their Butter Chicken and Garlic Naan, were beyond superb. A definite must try for any foodies out there who want a great experience in NYC>

Ravi Dhingra

Mediocre food and mediocre, very slow service. Chicken biryani cold and rice not fully cooked. Lots of other choices for good Indian food in NYC. Update: Owner was kind enough to call and apologize for less than spectacular service that day.

Niraj Kadu

Horrible experience at this place , no one sounded welcoming.

Dr. Tabasum Mir

The service was impeccable and highly attentive. Each dish was more delicious than the other! They have so many varieties of naan. I left full and happily satisfied. Highly recommend !

Virginia Wages-Plotkin

Delicious food good happy hour

Mehta Himanshu

Good Indian food for non Indian

Saidulu Kommineni

Great place for lunch buffet during weekdays.

Pooja Agarwal

Service is slow...food is good. Then they tell us to pay gratitudes 15% or 18% or 20%. Which is a compulsion. Y do we have to pay?

Nitika Agarwal

Superb food! Good Service

Raj Rao

Probably the worst Indian food I’ve had in New York, and this includes Biryani carts across the city. The food was bland and one dish - the Goa Shrimp curry - lacked salt entirely, and did not have any taste at all. When we asked for salt, we did not receive any until we asked for the second time, at the very end of our meal. The service we received was the poorest I’ve ever received in New York. There was also no air conditioning in the restaurant, and many people were sweating just sitting in place. Overall, I’m extremely disappointed that this restaurant is the only place my grandmother has eaten at in New York City.

Sambhavi Bellary

Great ambience! Okay food. Recommend the okra!

Pini Sketti

This place is amazing. The food is wonderful and the vibe is perfect. What a great place to escape the craziness that is NYC and have some incredible food that will leave you feeling beyond satisfied.

Alexander Kontoleon

Really tasty Indian eats in the heart of midtown. Portion sizes might look small but I guarantee they are perfect. Also if you want spicy hot, they can make a vindaloo that will melt your face.

Rishie Narula

Honestly the rating is really undermining the value of their food. I came along with a friend to this place as a last resort. We thought we were risking it because the rating is too low. However, the food was Amazing!! The staff was friendly!! And the service was as expected at any Indian restaurant - hospitable. Definitely coming back here more often.

Tom Mtz

Excellent Indian food just for I think is to condimented

UTSAV RESTAURANT

I want to respond to the last review of the person with the baby. I am that "guy" she's referring to in her review. Her story leaves out a few meaningful pieces of information that make us look insensitive when in fact the opposite is true. The facts are that while she was waiting for her food, her baby started to cry. at first she didn't do anything, thinking that the baby would stop crying, then a guest seated with her started to look for items in their stroller ( we don't normally allow strollers in the dining room but we went out of our way to accommodate her and her friend who also had a stroller ). After looking for 5 minutes while the baby continued to cry and not finding what he was looking for, the mother decided to help in the search. At this point the baby started to cry louder and woke up the other baby who also started to cry. We now have two babies crying at the top of their lungs and diners near them are showing annoyance. At least 10 - 15 minutes had elapsed while all this is going on and the patience of the other guests was over. Two other tables nearby started to gesture towards me do something. At this point I politely asked the mother if its possible to take the kids to our lounge waiting area until they calmed down. We have lots of kids and babies in our restaurant and usually when a baby starts to fidget and cry, a parent will pick them up and take them to the waiting area or we often open our private dining area for a mother to feed the child with privacy. As a parent I'm not insensitive to the needs of guests with children. This couple gave no regard to the other guests in the room who didn't come to a restaurant to eat out, spend money on a meal and listen to someones baby scream for an extended period of time.

Karl Ross

Thanks to Teddy's guide a found out about this restaurant. Such a great food. The customer service is amazing. Before going in this restaurant make a reservation because when I was there it was full and I think most of the time is full.

John Simon

My guest and I had an extraordinary dinner at this hidden gem. Located just a few blocks from 5th Avenue shopping, Broadway and times Square, this is an ideal option for sight seers. The entrance can be hard to spot and all the scaffolding doesn't help. From the corner of 47th st and 6th ave (Avenue of the Americas) walk straight passed the NHL store then starbucks and you'll see a small opening and signs for the place. Turn left into the courtyard and the door is on the right. The service was good despite the busy atmosphere. We were there as soon as they opened and there were already plenty of people waiting to get in! The staff is friendly and helpful even when the kitchen and bar are slammed. We highly recommend the Vandouvan Spiced Scallops and bombay butter crab both were scrumptious. We also loved the Lamb Rogan Josh and Nalli Ka Salan (Lamb Shank) both were tender and tasty. If you want a good cocktail try the Monkey Jacket its sweet but dangerous in the best way. This is one of the best restaurants in Midtown. Perfect for a night out as It is close to some of the best shows on Broadway and Radio City Music Hall. Rockefeller Center and Times Square are also within walking distance. The location is nearest the B, D F, subway line but the A,C, 1, 2, & 3 lines are just a few more blocks away. We will definitely be back!

Andreas Ritter

Friendly service but meat dish came without rice (oh, that's a separate order). Loud aggressive music. Big room creates feel of a dining hall.

A B

The shrimp at the lunch buffet seemed undercooked. I didn't pay $24.99 per person to have undercooked food. This establishment is excessively priced in comparison to its neighbors offering similar food. They also keep raising their price without delivering anything better.

Jitenkumar Sompura

Ambience and hygiene is good. Food is bland as per american taste. overall okay but a little expensive.

Patrick Leung

Great Food Great Staff - enjoyed my evening here tremendously. Just had dinner the other night, again, authentic home cook food and what a waiting staff.

Sandeep Patel

Came with my family. Restaurant itself is very spacious with the bar side dinning on first floor and full size dinning on 2nd floor.. Our server was very professional. Food was very good. Definitely a must try if visiting Times Square.

Yashaswi P

Ambience is good. Food is decent. However it is pricey compared to other restaurants around the same place. Quantity is also less for the price charged. I have been to many restaurants around this restaurant which has better food for less price. And staff was not friendly. The person who took our order had no smile. He looked strict n I was little scary to approach him. If you need Indian restaurant, there are many around but not great like this ambience. Overall I say, this is good for any office meeting or sophisticated dining for its ambience but looking only good food, I say look others.

Anisha Bhandari

Manager is very rude. Restaurant didn’t honor their own menu. They handed us a menu with 34.99 prix fix. After we ordered the restaurant said we are not serving this menu please order from the 39.99 prix fix. They handed us the wrong menu didn’t honor their mistake and asked us to pay more. The restaurant that does not respect their customers or owns their mistakes does not get business from me or my clients.

Shashank Dixit

The place is good with decent options to pick from appetizers to entrees. Other than the wait time on weekends and peek hours (7-9 PM) everything is good about the place. They do have exquisite dinning place for get together and private events. Consider having a buffer time of 2 hours if you're visiting here.

udaya shankar

Food is not bad. But we experienced extremely rude behavior from one of the owners. Our baby was noisy and he said, we can cancel the order and leave.

Esther Pena

Love this place so far, I've been here twice before. They have super good Indian food and a nice ambience. The decorations are pretty as well. Loved the califlower dish and the three lentil soap last time I was here. Also, the staff was very friendly. Only concern was my seabass which was slightly disappointing.I didn't particularly like the batter used since it made the fish taste cheap almost like fish sticks

Pujan Dedhia

I had a reservation before reaching the restaurant. When I reached they asked me to wait for 5 mins which then increased to 20 mins. They say that the kitchen is too busy. Why have tables if you cant reach them. The best part was that when I entered, half the tables were empty. So in reality can you not even serve half the tables?

Tijana Ibrahimovic

I had a wonderful experience in this authentic Indian restaurant in Midtown Manhattan. I am a big fan of Indian food and I loved that their menu is so diverse. There is anything you could possibly crave for ! Love samosas ( could eat a bunch but tried to control myself) and the coconut shrimp appetizer. My lamb with creamed spinach was absolutely delicious. I had to test out my friend’s sea bass as well and enjoyed it so much too. Definitely recommend ordering some of their fresh homemade Indian breads! Had Naan with garlic and absolutely spectacular poori! I will definitely be back ! Location is great, service is really good, restaurant is spacious and they have private rooms for parties so I might be back with a bigger group for a celebration!

Pavan Gajendragad

The staff is not polite. They are not trained how to handle crowd. Very inexperienced. The head staff/ manager/owner has no business sense and does not know how to speak with customers. Avoid this place at any cost. I would rather have my food where they show respect even if the ambience is not great. Usually restaurants become good restraurants only with good customer service, because on a bad day even a Michelin star restaurant’s food also can go bad.. hope these ppl learn that .. There is 100% truthness in reviews by so many but to name a few MJ NATHAN’s , Anisha Bhandari , Urooj Ansari, Ravi Dhingra , Sabita chakrabarthy .. Avoid yourself the negativity and embrasement here .. have a pleasant experience else where .. I too felt this place is racist, I too had this manager / owner (I don’t know) pass very sarcastic comment because I was leaning on the table .. Given that fact that bad reviews are all seem to be Indians by their names I think we all should avoid this place .. multiple choices just one or two blocks form this place ..

Abhimanyu Chaturvedi

It does not have the indian tradition to it. They dont allow one to sit crossed leg in a yogic position (surprisingly). Too expensive food and the taste is american and not at all indian. They dont even have the basic dishes like Kadhai Paneer. Not worth your money

Yatan Jain

Good ambience, nice location (a few mins walk to Times Square) But the food tasted just average. We ordered laccha Parantha , stuffed capsicum with cottage cheese and Veg Biryani. Parantha was good but smaller than usual, Stuffed capsicum had cheese instead of cottage cheese (as per my observation) and it’s taste average . At last veg biryani barely tasted like Biryani . I think there are many other options for Indian food in Times Square which are better than this. I won’t strongly recommend this restaurant as your first choice.

SURENDRA ANGADI

Nice bar and indian food

James Wolan

Pleasant atmosphere. The food wasn't anything special. Decent quality, but nothing inpressive. Service was decent.

Lorenzo Vinti

Tried this place over the weekend after it was recommended to me by 2 friends and really enjoyed it. The atmosphere and service was inviting and enjoyable. There were lots of items on the menu that sounded appetizing but I settled on the Tandoori Broccoli and Crispy Quinoa Aloo Tikki for appetizers, the Malai Kofta for my main and the Gulab Jamun Crème Brulee for dessert. Everything was so flavorful and fresh, and the portions were generous. The Gulab Jamun Crème Brulee should definitely no be missed. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Kapil Mathur

Authentic Indian food. Must visit and eat the mutton rogan josh.

Srikanth Hr

Food taste is just okay but very expensive. Good thing is it is located close to the time square. Otherwise I would recommend Saravana Bhavan for good veg food any time!

Sharon Brunner

Great food, attentive staff

Alexandra Goldelman

Fantastic food. Lovely staff

Nalin Khanna

Excellent food. Highly recommended but make a reservation before hand

rain adams

Luv this place.. best I down food in town.

Jane Kolar

I ordered from here for lunch the other day. Most Indian takeout restaurants seem to all have the same things on the menu, but Utsav stood out to me because they offer some unique and healthier (but still delicious sounding) options. I'm glad I gave this place a try and will definitely be ordering again. The portion sizes were huge, and everything was tasty - the naan, samosas, vegetarian lunch dishes, and especially the tandoori broccoli and the butter chicken kulcha (out of this world!!).

sachin shirguppe

Nice option for indian food near times square

H Raphael

Really good Indian food!

dave stern

Food and service were excellent. Nice location to have dinner before our Broadway show.

Karthikeyan Rajaram

It was my first day at work at the Avenue of the Americas and my colleague recommended this place when I asked if they had any good vegetarian restaurants in the vicinity. The restaurant looked quite modest from the outside and I didn’t try out the buffet at the first level and rather tried the display of buffet for pickup. They had a variety of vegetarian and non vegetarian items and I tried the saffron rice with the Aachari Baigan with Mutter Saag. They offer two out of three to fit the To Go box. They also gave a complimentary Naan to go with. The checkout process was simple and quick and the staff was very kind. The baigan was very good but the mutter saag was out of the world, one of the best tasting mutter saag that I’ve ever had. The quantity was so good that I almost didn’t feel hungry until night. If you are in the 6th Avenue, make sure you try this place!

Jerry Miko

Great Indian food in NYC. Great service and accommodating for biz and personal.

Evan Seymour

There's nothing I love more than big portions that I can share with friends and family! Utsav has it all. My favorite is the slow roasted lamb shank!

Sudeep Amin

Nice ambience for a work/business lunch. Food is consistently good.

Sandhya Joshi

The front guy was rude and unprofessional- had been there with my 4 year old and 6 months old baby , he would not give me a couch seat simply by saying he had tons of reservations even though the whole restaurant was empty !! The girl with him offered a chair seat but as I had to feed the baby I asked for a couch one , the girl was courteous and did offer me the seat but the big guy came in like a hero and said - we don’t have any seats , that’s the only one available blah blah blah ..Utsav was my first choice whenever I hit the NY road but not anymore all thanks to the big guy he gave me chance to explore other restaurants and saved me at least a $100

Lila Gerson

Great Indian food in Times Square.

Namit Shah

We have organized my wife's baby shower at Utsav nyc. We had an amaizing experience. Owner Nandita, Manager Jerry and an entire crew gave us an excellent service throughout our event. The food was delicious. Every guest of my event was happy. I would defenitly suggest utsav to everyone.

seena reddy

Good food..

Nirupama parmar

1. The ambiance is good. The place is good. 2. Issue with finding restaurant. Google maps was misleading. 3. The restaurant is in middle of New York by Times Square still i didn’t felt the X factor in food. 4. The service was good. But got charged in bill with wrong dish ordered, that even mistakenly described by waiter. The dish we didn’t even ate. 5. The food quality is okay. I won’t say it like amazing. The malai kofta was over fried. The rice was cold. If you are tired with trip to nyc and want to sit and eat you might feel better as you are hungry. 6. The samosas were also over fried and oily without green chutney. Nothing is complementary here. 7. I heard that restaurant in NYC are good. Tried first one and done..

kirit vadalia

Again Authentic Food and Same Taste. Delicious Food Always .

Ajay Chaudhary

Food was very tasty. Staff very cordial.

Gay Pride Apparel

Utsav is one of our favorite restaurants to meet with business partners and clients. We are always shocked at how great and welcoming staff is. The food was delicious, our glasses were never empty, and we were able to even meet the owner. Idk what these other review are saying. This place never fails.

Elizabeth Schulke

My brother and I had dinner here yesterday and loved the atmosphere. He had the Paneer Chutney Tikka and I had the Tandoori Cornish Hen, both were amazing. We're definitely coming back in the near future

Jade

Their tandoori chicken reminds me of the U.K. .. done pretty much to perfection... always have room to go back for a second helping!!!

Sonia Gibson

Services and food flavors are great. Plates are gourmet style so do not expect very Indian food. Overall great food.

Ted Throckmorton

While waiting in the foyer of Utsav, a very dark chamber our curiosity about the restaurant where we'd made reservations aroused our curiosity almost as much as our appetites. We were not prepared for the view of the dining room with its large glass windows reflecting the lights in the trees outside. We ordered our appetizers and dinners and were once again happily surprised with the many flavors we were presented with but the professional waitstaff. We'd definitely return, my mouth waters with anticipation thinking about it.

Joseph NewYork

Friendly and efficient staff. Avg. to VG foods. Attractive plating, nice portions. Reasonable Prices.

Rakesh Patel

Looks like everything is chaotic.. so much rush in serving and every waiter was running around.

G Gopal Chopra

Very good indian food

Matthew Cohen

Always a good choice for a quick meal for lunch.

Gregory DelliCarpini Jr.

What a terrific place to have an authentic and delicious meal. Really love this one and would definitely recommend it.

Karlee Tate

My friends and I got to split a large portion of the menu and everything was divine, I loved the vegetarian options and the festive atmosphere. The staff gave me great recommendations and were so friendly, can't wait to go back!

Will Hedley

Came here for the lunch buffet. Loved the choices and atmosphere. Great location. Will come back.

Darshil D

Food's great, servers are nice, and the ambience is appealing. All you need from any restaurant really

Same gravy for 2 dishes, shocked..they charged $4 for onions, poor service. Won't recommend

Four of us went for a meal. The service was excellent as was the food. The prices were much as expected. We found a lovely wine at a good price but weren't able to get a second bottle - we had to choose one at over double the orifice.

Delicious food. The service was terrific and amazing food. You should definitely visit. It's worth the trip.

Very good but pricey for Indian food.

Gina Marando

Shruti Kabra Gattani

Sitting here for last half an hour no one came to server. Service sucks. They really need to get their act together. I will never bring my guests here again or come to this place ever again. I asked for a manager and one of the server said their is no one available today This restuarant is a bad rep for us Indians. Never again.

Allan Gottlieb

Everything was very tasty and service was good. Seating was comfortable. Some what expensive.

Attended an event in their dining room, food was hot and fresh. The mango milk was fabulous, a big hit amongst all my fellow diners. The fish was excellent, rice was seasoned well, good naan. Service was good. The sticky rice ball dessert was very tasty. Would recommend if you are looking for authentic Indian food. Beautiful decor and clean bathrooms too.

Had an excellent meal with great service. My friends shared appetizers and entrees. All were quite tasty.

Kimberly Kristen

Staff was friendly and polite. I asked many questions to them but they were friendly to me. Thank you guys.

It’s really great to find a South Asian restaurant in the heart of the city. The server and back waiters were attentive and the food was solid. I had a slow roasted lamb shank, saffron rice, and chicken lentil soup. The first two were amazing while the soup could use a little bit more flavor. I’m taking a star because the hostess cut me off when i tried asking about a wine list while waiting to get seated. I also felt the decor could use a little bit of work!

Awesome food.. specially baigan bharta

Upmanu Lall

The food was good, prices reflect the location - higher than other Indians a bit further away. Dishes and appetizers were tasty - Kurkure Bhindi : crispy okra, but felt like it would be better as an appetizer than the main dish - pretty much crisped out of existence :)

Authentic Indian restaurant with unmatched hospitality. Definitely ll be back.

sarita shinde

It’s a nice restaurant, with a few hits and misses. The apps Veg Seekh Kebab and the Butter Chicken Kulcha though something new, was far from impressive. The portions were small plates sized and left is surprised. Also tried the Bhuna Mutton which was really well cooked was the best dish at the table. There was a paneer chilly gravy we tried which was nice and different. The bVeg Biryani though didn’t look the most interesting was really flavourful and a must try.

Very nice dining experience. Dinner had just the right amount of spice, with excellent flavor. The lamb was tender and very tasty. If I am ever back in NYC, I will stop by here again.

5 stars!! Love it!! Love their buffet, much varieties and yummyyyy!!! Service is great though. Can’t wait to go again!!!

Best lamb chops in the city. This is my favourite spot after work, I've been at least a few dozen times and can confidently say the only thing better than their food is the service.

Worst Indian restaurant in New York....There food is costly and taste is even worst. If you are looking for an Indian restaurant to waste your money and time you should go here. Believe me it's a leftover food for which you are paying for and that too tastes like a dirt. A food quality check inspector should visit there and check there process. They are spoiling name of Indian cuisine internationally.

Moses Mukundi

Authentic Indian flavour next to Times Square.

Iper Chapel

Very nice atmosphere for a New York style Indian food .

Sabita Chakrabarty

I wish I could give them 0 star. From the front guy to the waiters- every one was so unprofessional and rude. Moreover their food was annoying. Honesty saying Don't waste your time by going there. Try other great Indian restaurant just few blocks away.

Abhay Dighe

Ok ok taste. No value for money.

Khaled Alkhateeb

Food is okay but not great. Good service, soft drinks are NOT refillable!

Nav K

Worst restaurant ever. The staff was pathetic. I ordered and the food came after 50 mins. So slow service. Food is not great as well . I ordered garlic bread and this guy got some other bread. The worst restaurant ever
