REVIEWS OF Toscana 49 IN New York

Carole

Ottimo ristorante, the staff was very kind. Loved it!!!!

Matthew Gouldstone

Excellent food, efficient service and reasonably priced for Manhattan. Dress code i'd say is shirt and trousers (pants)... You can go smarter if you wish... Nice for a date my wife loved it.. The restaurant hits that nice spot of being upmarket in terms of quality but with a more relaxed atmosphere. Well done

Leslie Beres

A must go to place in midtown. Excellent food. Perfectly prepared. Wait staff attentive without being overbearing. The osso bucco was one of the best I've had. Perfectly seasoned, excellent flavor. My companion had a lamb ragoo with fettuccini. It too was very well prepared and had an excellent flavor profile.

Angela Fuentes Novosel

So good. I felt at home as if I lived in Bologna. Everything was delicious from the bread to the wine. Try the eggplant app and the fettuccini made with delicious flavorful lamb. Wish I lived next door.

Edward Madory

Toscana 49 is a cozy restaurant with good food and attentive waiters

Marcos Mancini

Very good food but too crowded, noisy and somewhat hot.

David Karpf

5 of us split 4 starters (charcuterie, carpacio, chopped chicken liver on toast (superb!l and tomato/Buffalo mozzarella), and 3 different pastas (white & green with freash peas and cream sauce, fettucini with pork sausage, and spaghetti with tomatoes & redsauce) that were all excellent, along with (me) a huge bowl of great tomato puree soup, and a great bottle of Pinot Grigio and a 2nd bottle of Barolo red. Totally satisfying for 5 adults, totally delicious, great service and ambiance, and all for $300, and insanely low cost for 5 in a great Manhatten Italian restaurant.

Jimmy Noblett

Very good food, Great service. Thank you for a great time.

Ugur U

Best pasta in town. Waiters dont smile much but food is fantastic.

Gavin Reid

Toscana delivers high end Italian food with polished service and great wines. The home made pastas were delicious but make sure to leave some space for dessert

CHERYL HURST

I was seated early for my reservation and the bartender was very patient in helping me select a wine I liked. The food was fair, I expected more flavor.

Michael Ziegler

Nice out of the way jewel of a restaurant. Our Waiter Armand was great along with everyone else there. Food was excellent.

Joe Adkison

We had a delightful time at Toscana 49. The atmosphere is very quaint and the waistaff is excellent! The lasagna is to die for!

Burim Bivolaku

Great food and authentic atmosphere.

redwillow

Good food. Lovely ambiance. I didn't have a drink so I can't speak to the options. Service was on point. Had the butternut squash soup which was bland but had great texture. And spaghetti with Bolognese sauce. Very, very tasty! The sauce had such a robust, full flavor. Such joyful eating. I'll be back.

TamiFati

Cute little place. I had brunch . Ordered eggs with avocado toast topped with truffle oil sooo yummm. Also ordered the French toast , didn’t enjoy , to me it is below average. However the services and the atmosphere is lovely.

Richard Corewyn

They took us in last minute With out a reservation . Absolutely an awesome meal at a very reasonable price When in New York a must do

Cheryl Harris

This was the kind of find where I returned the next night because the food and experience was so good. It's not very large, so as a party of one coming in without a reservation, I found myself eating at the bar both nights. No matter. It's the kind of bar where it's easy to feel comfortable and the bartenders are able to recommend the perfect wine for your meal. The portions are large, but not too large. The pasta is fresh, as is everything. It's the kind of NYC restaurant gem that I had thought disappeared. I am glad to discover I was wrong.

Jason Cornewell

Good food and pleasant atmosphere

Jorge Ribeiro

Disappointing experience... very low value for money in my view. Dishes (spinach tagliatoni and shrimp spaghetti) extremely salty for our taste. The starter Carpaccio di manzo was fine though. Also wine menu doesn’t have wine by the glass - …

Daniel Dustin

Food was great, excellent service

Robert Lee

Excellent food. Service was good. We got our food pretty quickly too. Overall I highly recommend to check it out.

Paul Stewart

Great Italian food in midtown! Probably our best meal while in NYC for a casual family vacation. Not too expensive but upscale! Would highly recommend!

Friendly, hard working , effcient staff , excellent Italian food. Gets busy at dinner but you can eat at the bar. Has outside seating which is lovely for an evening summer meal. Reasonably priced too. Loved it.

Pál Ildikó

It is not easy to find a good Italian restaurant in Manhattan, if you’ re looking for one, this is it. Delicious, authentic dishes, best tiramisu that we’ve eaten for a long. Service was excellent and the place was not crowded (we were there on Saturday for lunch).

Sean Hanson

Nice ambiance, friendly staff. Went on a Thursday at 5:45 and it wasn't crowded at all. By 6:30 it was mostly full. We had the salumi plate, which was very good, the guitar spaghetti with swordfish (a special) which I though was pretty good and the fettuccini with lamb ragu. This thing has much more lamb in it than I expected, but was not very flavorful.

Marc Liberts

Very nice Italian food in Mid Town Easy. Comfortable Spartan decor. Service is above average. Salads were good. Salmon was good. Veal piccata was very good. Overall good place for a meal.

Guilherme Di Giacomo

I had an amazing catch of the day (fish) for lunch. Really remarkable. Fair price and warm service. Recommended!

Arima Udagawa

Amazing Italian restaurant for a family! Love the desert too.

timothy quinn

Great service, food was spot on. Stopped in here on a whim just to grab a bite, was very nicely surprised. Coffee was excellent, food was better, but the dessert was really fantastic. Server was very attentive but not in the way. I would eat here again anytime.

Kevin Leahy

Terrific menu. Salmon well prepared

Yoanna D.A

My family and myself did not have a good experience at all. The place is nice , we did not tried the food because we DO NOT support any business that treats their customer poorly NO MATTER who they are. We walked into this restaurant and soon as we did the hostess apprised us from head to toe. We were asked to wait which we did and when the hostess realized we were not leaving after my family and I were the focus of inspection she directed us to the second floor to our surprise the second floor was half empty. We were sited all the way in the back by the restroom apart from everybody else. The waitress was more than kind but at this point the hostess attitude was so evident that we left. This is sad to see this kind of behavior.

Rich Murphy

Very good food. Good service. Reasonable wine selection. A little expensive but it is NY.

Ria Fricska

Had a great time here and food was very satisfying. Nice, cozy spot with white table clothes, candles and kind waiters.

Brian Harte

Great experience. I highly recommend! Food and atmosphere were excellent! Great service!

Andreas Aasen

Lovely hidden gem on the 49th street! Amazing service and delicious food. I ordered the lasagna they had there. It was a 30 minute wait but that's how you know its freshly made

Chris Carney

Excellent food and atmosphere. The staff was courteous and prompt in attention to the service.

Miguel Chevres

Italian food how is supposed to be! The lasagna was out of this world! Made with spinach pasta instead of regular wheat pasta and OMG what a change that gave! The restaurant is of a decent size, comfy but not tight.

Yascarlo G

Excellent service and great tasting food. The place is small, so reservations are definitely advised.

Maria Comstock

Last night in NY and I wanted something on the nicer side. Friendly service and tasty food served by actual Italian folks. I wish I had room to try the homemade pasta but was full after yummy mussels.

what whodid

Good Italian food here, attended staff

Máté V

Very good quality and not overpriced. Has brunch on weekends too

Jan Talaga

Great wine list. Carpaccio was just the right amount, and our vitello (veal) and lasagna was done of the best I've had. Thank you!

Kapil Ranade

One of the better Italian restaurants in midtown Manhattan. The menu is well put together and nicely highlighted by daily specials. An excellent selection of wines complements the food menu. The staff is courteous, efficient and ready to recommend menu options. Overall a very good dining experience.

Ursula Melendi

Pleasant surroundings and great food are experienced at this always crowded Italian restaurant. We shared two pasta dishes and one Gnocchi dish - all excellent.

Humberto Velasquez

They don't like brown people. Good food but me and my companion we dont feel welcome. The sad part is the staff are imigrant...sorry white imigrants.

Ashley Elliott

Best steak I've ever had. Incredible!

Dan Hammer

Good quality and inexpensive. Nice setting. No wonder they were busy

Kevin Plesnik

Great food and terrific service

Natinho Lima

Tucked away on 49th Street you find this gem of restaurant. You should book a table as the place is very busy, as the word of mouth has come out and spread their fame. The food was delicious. More was the accommodating manager to get us a table for two at the busy Tuesday afternoon. I guess the English accent gave away we were tourists, in a hurry. We first awaited at the bar. Knowledgeable bar girl gave us a taste of the (seems) wines over the counter. Hard to choose but treated with patience. All fast and furious in the kitchen I guess. Waiters clear tables as fast as one leaves. Worth the word of mouth. Try their "muscles" wow flavours!!

Kevin Wu

Came here for a private event on their second floor. Service was good from the waiter and the food was simple yet tasty. Their tiramisu is a must try!

Wendy T

This place was just ok. I ordered the spaghetti and it was kind of bland... One of my friend ordered a different dish that had peas and she said it was a too salty. This place seems inconsistent with their food flavors? Or not sure either it's always going to be bland or salty...?

Clive Solman

Absolutely wonderful, having tried another eatery for my wife we tried here it was fantastic the owner did EVERYTHING he could to ensure we were satisfied of a superb gluten free meal for my wife, you wont go wrong here at all, fantastic atmosphere and fantastic staff Thank you

Francisco Vahamonde

Staff was attentive and on point. Everything was timely while not feeling rushed. Salad, pasta, secondi, dessert, and wine were all great. Atmosphere was what you'd want for dinner. Dim, but not so much that you can't read your menu

Alejandra Estanislao

Joy Anderson

Conner Gillette

Blake Searcy

Great service, yummy food, reasonable pricing.

Mark Frein

Exceptional Italian cuisine in warm and intimate setting. Everything from the inventive oil, tomato and garlic bread dip to my linguini with lamb ragu was perfect.

Nate Leonard

Very good Italian restaurant. Not stuffy, just great food in a great little spot. Open late. The owner was in and he was very nice. Great place! Highly recommend.

Janet Ubich

The food was delicious .It was small and cosy.. definitely need a reservation!

Mapillar Dahn

It wasn't my cup of tea. I am a huge fan of Italian food, so not sure where the disconnect lies. Too, my server was not very helpful. A little condescending even, when I asked about their sides. "Ma'am, this is an Italian restaurant," was his response when I asked if rice came with their salmon or if they offered it as a side option. They were the first restaurant recommended to us by The Lotte New York Palace Hotel. The one star is for their bread because I thoroughly enjoyed.

Nandini Sharma

Ambience is top notch but it's very crowded and noisy. The staff looks over worked.the food is excellent. Would recommend to have reservation before you go.

M Isabel

excellent service and great food♡

Faith Sheffield

Excellent food

Christopher Adams

Delightful mid-priced Italian in Midtown Manhattan. Reasonably-priced and portioned, the food was excellent.

Pedro Marques

Delicious honest food. Small menu which makes for an even more enjoyable experience.

Frank Maiorano

I've been there a few times now and always wonderful. I usually sit at the bar, and have a drink and a meal ... plus, the restaurant always has a nice buzz of energy. My bartender, always happy and helpful, and yes .. next time I'll remember where you are from!! I had a nice super tuscan to start by the glass .... tasty, and then the food. First course was a caesar salad ... pretty traditional, very good ... but FYI, the lettuce was VERY and way too COLD, but still good. Also .. would have been nice to have been offered some anchovies, but still good. Then I had the eggplant app ... also tasty, delicate and robust all at the same time. Finally ... I finished with a little caceo e' pepe (simple spinach pasta with light sauce and pepper) ... delicious. Mostly, all the people are so darn nice, always a great meal and delicious .... I would say it's a traditional spot, feels like family ... fun, good vibe, and great food!

Thomas Brüning

The dinner was amazing. Pasta cooked perfect and the atmosphere was great. The service was outstanding and we will come back for sure for the next new york trip!

Loulou AlBatta

Nice cozy place that gets wildly busy just after 6pm.They should have a bigger bar, actual wine list and better wine choices for wines by the glass - at 15usd per glass the quality is very poor. Staff and service is nice. Food is good but I wouldn't say it's fantastic, some restaurants in little Italy do a much better job

Mike Amundsen

Excellent food, wonderful atmosphere, attentive wait staff, decent prices. Was able to get a single seat at the full menu bar on short notice but if you are not dining alone be sure to make reservations for a table.

Jose Lopez

Had dinner here. Had a choice of sitting at the bar or a table. Good atmosphere. The service was quick and attentive. The grilled salmon was perfectly cooked as was the spinach. Will be going back

Ed Phythian

Fabulous hidden gem. We found this place by accident and so glad we did. Everything about it was great. Service was great and waiters very helpful and friendly. Food was amazing, we all had different and the presentation was excellent. Even though the restaurant was busy and people queuing to get a table we were never rushed. Next time in NY we will definately be coming back.

Tom Turkington

Great find for Italian food just around the corner from our hotel. It greatly exceeded my expectations. I will definitely be back!

Toscana 49 is a rare find in midtown Manhattan. I was there Monday night and the place was full. The food is authentic Italian and the service is great .

Nathan Nightenhelser

Nice little Italian spot tucked away in midtown. Great service, really good food!

Laura Kate Garner

Great place for a business lunch on the east side. Attentive staff. Had pasta made in house and it was very good. Definitely will be back.

Eason Tanner

Had a awesome experience here with my girlfriend. The food comes quickly and the customer service is just good. Prices are fair.

Dirk Margheim

Authentic Italian food and flare! I may have had a bit of an accent when I left. I sampled the boneless chicken with sausage and peppers with a side of roasted potatoes. The meat was tender and perfectly cooked. Everything was seasoned with Italian precision and the sauce was rich and somehow elegant. Mille grazie, Toscana. Mille grazie!

Sandra Wiggan

Another excellent experience. Great food and great service. Will certainly visit again on our next trip to Manhattan.

Bob Maloney

Great food. Great service. Best dinner we had in NYC. Only thing that would make it better is if they had Moët by the glass

Basam ٍSaleh

Excellent service, food is very good and tasty, decent number of menu choices. Good selection of wines and drinks. The only problem is that the whole place is really really loud, I could barely understand what my friend was saying to me during our conversation over dinner there. The bathroom is not the cleanest, and for that I took one star away for this review.

Kirk McGowan

Host accommodated 4 of us at the last minute as walkins, service was great, and the food was both great and reasonably priced. Would return in a heartbeat.

Valerie Lambert

My wife and I stayed at The Benjamin July 2019 and wanted good Italian food close to the hotel. We both had the Lasagna, and it was wonderful. True Italian Lasagna, hot to the very last bite. The service was courteous and prompt. Will gladly eat here again, next visit.

Akiko Imamura

Had a lunch when I visited NY with my mother and family friends. We all really liked their pasta.

Radim Teplitskiy

Good authentic food. Pasta is a bit salty occasionally but I am sure somebody else may find it to be perfect.

Jeff Coughlin

The service, food, presentation, selections and management are A+!! Here in NY for the weekend and I will be back before heading home to Chicago! Truly Top Notch

Kath KMS

I just ate here tonight with 2 work colleagues (we are in town for just 2 days). It was delicious. You get bread with a marinara sauce for dipping. We shared the prosciutto and melon app. I got the ricotta ravioli with asparagus and pancetta, one colleague got the calamari, and the other got the chicken and sausage. We ate every last bit, and then took the bread and soaked up the sauces. We had a so-so lunch in another part of town, and we all agreed this more than made up for our weak lunch meals. I highly recommend.
