This Restaurant belongs to the category of Bar & grill.
I recently had dinner at the Standard Grill after a late flight into NYC. Jessie was the bar, and she was beyond delightful. Her service was top-notch and she made excellent recommendations on wine and food. As we were chatting, Jessie was …
Very nice restaurant I highly recommended it. we were there on a very nice day with good weather so we're able to enjoy lunch out in the patio.
Nice ambience but the food is so so. Expect big crowds during lunch after doing the High Line.
Very slow service. Food was not good. Good drinks tho.
I've only been there once, got the burger -- delicious. I like the atmosphere -- good lighting.
Excellent Food and cool place for lunch
My standard choice for a consistent meal in NYC
Raw bar to start, dozen oysters. Nice selection, I only remember wellfleet, but all were similar and excellent. All meals and dessert also great. I've been before and will return.
Sat outside for a drink in the nice New York summer weather and it was fabulous - strange the way you are made to buy tokens up front for a beer- but not for cocktails
The chef changed and it’s just not the same! The standard grill used to have one of the most simple yet memorable meals: steak tartar and roast chicken for two. They still have these staples but the new flavor was lackluster and is not worth the return. It’s so unfortunate. I hope they bring back the old, embellished tastes!
Food was excellent! The Rib Eye steak was perfect! And the staff were all extremely friendly :) Will definitely be coming back
A good waiter will always be a great start .. Our waiter was professional, friendly and knowledgable. Appetizers were excellent. Lobster rolls and trout also very good. Presentation on all dishes were good too. All in all a great dinner, loved the room and wait staff. Will be back.
Ohhh! Beautiful place and I love it it was a great time and it was a dream came thruth be at the standard I celebrate MI
Extremely good food and service, best place I visited for a good dining time in nyc.
Solid food and cocktails. Not cheap, but what is in this neighborhood? I went for the steak frites. Really nice NY strip with a good, salty char and a hint of truffle oil. The frites were not shoestring as described in the menu. More like steak fries. But good either way.
Beer garden was fun. Unique piping system for parties to enjoy their own taps
I had a quick burger in the evening and a nice breakfast in the morning. Both were delicious!
The staff, the atmosphere, the food, the location is a must to try and see. Will state, for those that have a budget, this restaurant is $$$$. Be prepared to spend a certain high amount but worth it.
Over priced...but good.
Did not like the breakfast, and it was way overpriced
Not good...place is a tourist trap at this point. Terrible service...no doubt they are very busy but I dont believe they will have many repeat customers with that quality of service. Food is only OK. Too bad, we really enjoyed our previous dinner visits......will not be back.
Great space, courteous staff, but that’s where the compliments end. Order was mucked up several times, staff would drop off plates without any explanation (which oysters are which?), eggs Benedict sauce was sooo salty each bite required a drink of water as a chaser. Overpriced to boot. Overrated.
I came here with my friends for restaurant week and was amazed by such a delicious find for a bargain - scallop appetizer, sea bass entree, and chocolate mousse. The scallop dish was very very tasty, definite must try. The chef was also kind to give us 3 free side dishes (fries, hand made chocolate treat, and a fresh tomato pesto aperitif) at 60 pp - this place is great! Business casual btw
We’ve been here twice. The outside seating (grill) was a lot better than the inside. The ambiance was nicer, our overall experience was better, + the food was a lot better too. The food outside was AMAZING! We got the Double Decker from …
Fantastic place. Great wait staff. Food, drinks and service are top notch! Must visit while in the neighborhood.
Great food and service!
Really expensive and the fries are expensive for really small portions.
Excellent service, excellent food, excellent atmosphere....cannot say enough nice things....oysters - fresh and delicious as can be, incredible beet salad...negroni was impeccable ..
I highly recommend this place for breakfast!! Not a cheap option though, about 130$ for 2 persons without alcohol - 4 drinks, 3 dishes. Delicious bruschetta with avocado and poached egg was served on a whole grain crispy bread
Incredible food, great service. Definitely recommend!
Amazing ....food was delicious....well priced. Fantastic wait staff
Love the hotel, but the plaza area of the Standard Grill is a huge disappointment. My wife and I just returned to our hotel from an evening out for a night cap, and waited almost 40 minutes before our plate of 12 fries (horribly overpriced, but I'll chalk that up to being in NYC) and 2 drinks arrived. Never was able to order a second drink because our waiter never returned. After approximately another 30 minutes, I finally went and found him to just pay the bill and leave. Hopefully this was just a one-off bad experience, but given the prices, I wouldn't risk it again.
Good food. In a nice and cozy restaurant. I was only in the front room but staff were friendly and service was decently fast. A great experience. I had the high line burger and it was well cooked and the come back sauce was very tasty.
Always a good place for a meal. Breakfast, lunch or dinner. A bit pricy, but still well worth it. For breakfast/brunch try the Soft Scramble. It's healthy and yummy! How often do those two go together?
I ordered spaghetti pomodoro and was expecting a nice light pasta dish! What I was served was a dish with a tomato sauce that was so spicy that I was not able to eat. I rechecked the menu and there was no mention that this was a “hot” dish. The server should give warning if a dish is hot. Also your chef needs to go back to school if he can not prepare one of the simplest of pasta dishes!
Summary: Don't Go. As a former employee, the food there was amazing. Then they try to switch it. 3 managers quit and GM left, even the head chef. Customers constantly complain of the new menu. Also, new managers are micromanagers and don't respect employees. Don't waste your money on the overpriced food, and help your servers by telling how bad management truly is! Do go to LeBain though
My friend and I wanted to go to the Biergarten but it was closed for a private event so we popped into the Standard Grill instead. We had pretty high expectations in the beginning but we were extremely disappointed. We liked the ambiance and the service was good, but the food was underwhelming. My friend ordered the “overstuffed” lobster roll, it was not overstuffed and my friend said it was just okay. It was served with potato chips. I ordered the poutine. The portion size was huge, enough for 2-3 people to share, and it was doused in sauce and cheese. But again, it was just okay. We thought maybe we should give dessert a chance so my friend ordered the chocolate fondue and I ordered a chocolate donut. The donut tasted like ash and had a terrible consistency. I couldn’t finish it, even though it was smaller than the size of my palm. The chocolate fondue tasted off. It was either severely burnt, or had gone bad. We just ate the fruit without the chocolate. Disappointing.
A meatpacking institution, no visit seems complete without a beer on the terrace, or a cocktails at the bar. This place is often busy and the atmosphere is great.
service is very fast , better than standart restaurants but food is not that delicious could be better
Staff were fine and the setting is nice, but the food was mediocre and very highly priced. My poached eggs had hard yolks when I cut into them and the scrambled eggs were just bland. Can't recommend.
The Brunch Poutine ($16) is marvelous. A fancier version of the standard Canadian peasant dish, featuring Manchego cheese, shredded chicken confit, mushroom gravy and 5-minute eggs. Incredible!
Good and fresh stake and lobster. They also have hand-cut fries and fresh squeezed juices. We arrived in rush hour and the service was a bit slow. They have a good selection of sea food and it seems to be a family friendly place. It was worth the waiting time.
Avocado toast with sauteed spinach is incredible....ask for some pickled red onions to kick it up a notch!!
Delicious meal. Wonderful, completely professional service. Fairly pricey but worth it.
Ok brunch but not more than that. Pretty imprecise service. Food was all right but not as you'd expect from a place like this. The pain au chocolat was quite poor, same quality you'd expect from a 7-11.
Best for brunch in meatpacking!
After visiting the vessel we were ready for a great hamburger!
I was warned that the "big green" would taste too green. It did, and it was great.
Love the outdoor seating. The food is good but I wasn’t happy with the frozen margaritas.
We truly enjoyed our dinner. The food was great. Appetizers are quite small but delicious. We had short rib and truffle shrimp risotto for main course and they surely hit the spot. The service was professional and attentive. Very cozy atmosphere. We would come back.
Pretty good setup. Central location in manhatten. Large area with several themes. Rain Forest, lounge, cafeteria, bar area. Partner and I had small dinner, a few appetizers. Good food. Popular spot, we didn't want to wait for the main area so we went to the cafeteria. It's not really a cafeteria. It has table service but is spacious with basic tables and chairs. Airy.
We had dinner at the Standard Grill on Saturday. It exceeded all expectations. Rodrigo, the Captain in the dining room was incredible. I didn't know Rocco DiSpirito is now the Excecutive Chef but he was there making magic (it's only open for dinner if he's there now). We were lucky enough to get to meet him and we asked him to select our courses. Everything was out-of-control amazing - from the raw bar, the binchoton skewers, the risotto with black truffles (the most amazing thing I've ever tasted), the fish and the porterhouse. And let's not forget the dessert. Service was 5-star. Food was 5-star. I'd give it an 11 if it went to 11. :) Go see Rocco and Rodrigo and the team.
Excellent service. Cool ambiance
Food is just ok. Service is awful. Went for brunch and sat for 2 hours. Ordered eggs and bacon x2 after 2 hours we were told the kitchen got backed up and they wouldn’t be able to serve us so we got up and left. Unbelievable experience.
A little pricey but politically relevant
Food it very good. Service is pretty good. Fantastic ambiance. New York City expensive.
Great food, awesome drinks, fantastic service. People watching at its absolute best. Sit outside!
The French toast... phenomenal!!
Excellent food and service.
Some of the best steaks (and beef rib) we have ever had. The wait staff were also very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed very much.
What a huge disappointment! The food was completely cold, when it arrived. When asked we were told that the kitchen is under construction and it is brought from a different location...Well it must have come from a different part of town.
Standard Grill is helmed by Rocco DiSpirito, James Beard award winning chef and #1 New York Times best-selling author. Chef Rocco serves a menu of healthful and indulgent dinner options from an extensive daily raw bar and Binchotan-fired Josper grill. Guests can expect wood-fired vegetables, steaks and other meat dishes as well as his signature Peconic Bay Scallops & Uni while sat in an intimate back dining room. Located in the front room of the Standard Grill, the Grill Café, is classic New York meets new American cuisine. The front café, bar and outdoor pergola serve breakfast, brunch and a classic lunch and dinner menu that highlights a robust, local raw bar and an extensive cocktail and (free) spirits list.
Very good food and nice staff
Little pricey but they do a great burger. I’ve ordered a bunch of different things and you really can’t go wrong. I also saw a real housewife here so you could say it’s a little scene-y
Absolutely fabulous ordered the special- fish of the evening, it was a unique fish from a super clean Eco system .. I've never heard of Libbi? ...not sure of the spelling. I can tell you I have never had any fish like it very different and delicious buttery flakey mild just amazing !!! Our waiter was wonderful, described every little delicious detail of each course perfectly...we trusted him and went with his every suggestion. Definitely a mouth orgasm!
Amazing restaurant. Food spectacular. Great atmosphere of old school New York Steakhouse charm.
Muscles and fries were great! A bit chilly in the front room.
A hot spot in the meat packing district.
Amazing food price is high but worth it
I like this restaurant, mostly for the location. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and it is great for people watching as it is right in the middle of the meatpacking madness. The outdoor seating is great if you are there to celebrate an occasion of just for a good time, but I would recommend sitting inside if you're there for a date or something more intimate. The food is good and I like their variety, but it is a bit pricey.
Wonderful atmosphere especially sitting outside. I enjoyed the towering seafood platter and had bottle of Sancerre with some friends and it was perfect. Highly recommend.
Great place for breakfast. Fantastic scones and a good variety of plates to choose. I guess lunch and dinner are good too.
A very very poor meal. Nothing at all as promised by Rocco's return to a kitchen or Peter Wells' review. The yakitori-esque skewers were simultaneously cold, charred and chewy. The rib eye had to be returned to be properly cooked and my risotto was lacking depth, and the rice was so under done, I returned it. The side of kale lacked salt and was lukewarm at best. Desert options are dull and lacking any inventiveness. This place should be firing on all cylinders but tonight at least it felt as though Rocco was asleep at the switch and training chefs in the kitchen. Saving grace....the wait staff, who listened to our complaints, solved them and took items off the bill to hopefully bring us back. Not at all sure they succeeded.
Good food but lunch took almost two hours when we didn’t have it. We asked for the servers to bring out the food whenever it’s ready but instead received it one plate at a time. Server was very nice and food was good so can’t say it was a bad experience, but overall, don’t try going here when you don’t have time to sit and enjoy their cuisine.
Good food, great service. Pricey. Relaxing and comfortable on a hot day.
Awesome plaza with good service. They have unique, stylish drinks.
Great food, great service.
Maybe it would be a little better if the waiters didn't get the order wrong every single time.
Love the place the burger (especially lamb when available) great wine list and desserts.
It was good. I got a beet salad with medium rare salmon (not overcooked), but my husband didn't get medium rare steak as he wanted, it was well done, unfortunately. Good choice of beer, good atmosphere... we'll definitely come back
Is okay if you want to chill with tourist.
I was expecting a wow factor but did not get close. I can not say any dish was great. The ceviche was scraps thrown in a bowl. Steak and pork chop were good. This place is more about the look than the food.
When near the Meatpacking District or strolling along The High Line in the south direction at the end then go down to Washington Street and head back to 13th street on your left side is a great restaurant, The Standard Grill - for lunch I had probably one of the best burgers I ever had in Manhattan, it didn’t look at much but the way it was prepared and the taste - wow. To top of the lunch I had a banana split for dessert and again WOW - probably the best banana split I ever have had. The have great service minded personal and the place have a great atmosphere. I am happy that we finally took the time to visit
Been here three times. I don’t think I’m coming back ever. It’s quite pricey and the quality is not as high as you would expect. My friend’s wine glass was dirty and the steak wasn’t cooked well. The location is nice though and the stuff is super friendly.
The ice tea is magical.
Good food and perfect drinks
Great seafood selection raw and cooked. Cozy and cool vibe. Nice outdoor seating
I expected way better. Pasta was not salted. Donuts were odd tasting to say the least
great service, always comfortable. love it when there is space at the bar which can be tough during prime time.
Chill vibe and not a kiddie corral...
The Café for breakfast is fantastic. Foot, atmosphere all hit on high levels.
Went on a Friday night to find a surprisingly not packed restaurant. We went late of course around 9:45 or 10. But this place has good food and warm intimate ambiance. No douchebag spillage from next door.
Incredibly disappointed by the new donut recipe. We came in after having the delicious donuts from before wanting another batch. Instead the donuts were the consistency of meat loaf. I wouldn't recommend them.
Friendly Staff, good service and excellently food in a nice and cozy environment! A bless with reference to service compared with Dutch restaurants. The Moscow Mule cocktail is the best here of all the places I visited!
I really like the options of outdoor dinning, front and back locations. I definitely prefer the back. Its cozy & much more formal & chic. The bar is really crowded but you have the choice to go to the living room. Part of th standard hotel for drinks & a bite if you wish. The decor was good, warm and inviting. The staff was great, friendly & welcoming. The food was good, with great portions & good variety. Desserts were great beautifully presented as well as the appetizers. Drinks were on the weak side and need it better presentation & refinement. Overall I enjoyed my dinner and so did our other 4 guests. Definitely will like to try their lunch or brunch menu at some point. P.s: the very next day I got ill sick and spent the night vomiting. Not sure if it was the salmon appetizer, the fatty short ribs or the sweets.
Amzing service, incredible food and I can't wait to go back. As a Kiwi I am spoiled but this rates as one of my best meals in NYC.
Bah. Ordinary cuisine, overpriced.
Very good food.
Upscale restaurant nestled under the highline in the meetpacking district. Incredible food and service.
Very good location and ambiance It was a very good experience ! Enjoy there with your friends !
Recently updated with “white glove” service which shows. Friendly servers overall. Menu is the usual modern American set.
Great ambiance, good service.
All the food was delicious. Everything we tried was great! The waitstaff was great and attentive. Our main server (Charles) was charming and very helpful. I can't wait to go back.
Exzellent Sea Stew and warm and cosy Location
jamon iberico with good glass of wine, fancy!! and delicious to taste..
Great Kale salad. Didn’t realize I would like this so much. Mussels looked yummy too
The food options are delicious, and the wait staff is always very kind. I like sitting in the front part of the restaurant where it's more airy and there are plants everywhere. I would recommend going on a Saturday morning and ordering the cinnamon sugar brioche donuts, which are made to order. They melt in your mouth
Good drinks and tasty dinner. The lobster roll was excellent.
