This Restaurant belongs to the category of Cocktail bar.
Last night my husband and I stopped in for a drink and enjoyed it. The drinks were excellent and the service impeccable. Last night, I would have considered it one of my favorite bars. Today was a different story. We went in midafternoon for libations. We were seated and our bartender brought us water. After that we waited and waited. Fifteen minutes went by and still no order was taken. There was only one other woman in the bar at the time. The bartender was behind the bar talking to another man. Didn't even look our way. We left because of the service.
Classy place, love the traditional atmosphere, exquisite drinks.
Nice bar and atmosphere, bar tender seemed a bit stuck up to be honest
The rum cocktails are fantastic! Also sat through a few live sets by the night's band, was a great experience overall.
Great little spot hidden away here! Large selection of rum and a fantastic live singer & band playing some mellow soul/jazz. Very much recommend you try this place!
Stopped by here after seeing a Broadway show in the area. Was a bit crowded on a Thursday evening, but we lucked out when a group left and were able to take their table. There was also great live music the whole time we were there which created a fun vibe. The drink — Her Name is Kiki Bridges — was also delicious (just expect Manhattan prices).
This is the only cocktail bar I've been to so far where the drinks are actually worth the higher price tag, and the ambience matches. This bar is stylish, the staff is attentive and none of it feels forced.
Extremely friendly staff whom were very accommodating to me and my partner that visited for her 21st birthday celebrations. As great lovers of rum and quaint, unique bars, it is safe to say that my partner and I had a fabulous time here the night before returning home. Most certainly would recommend to adults as it isn't really the scene for families. I would definitely revisit.
Tremendous! Best memory of our visit to NYC. Staff are warm and gracious. Nadine and her jazz band were fabulous. You must go!
Good drinks and great bar tender Troy (Common)
Love the cocktails selection, great place for a casual drink the star f**cker cocktail is a must try!
If you like a cosy, ambient joint to wallow in your sorrows, or reflect modestly on your success...this is the real deal.
Big fan of the retro live music but the layout of the bar and drinks themselves are a bit disappointing. Still a spot worth checking out.
Amazing jazz and live music !
First of all, I asked this short blonde haired bartender for a champagne and she gave me something so flat it was easy to perceive it was white wine. Then she kicked me and my date out because she thought he was touching my lower half. What a SAD bartender you have. It’s such a shame because I love the Jazz here but the short blonde haired girl is lonely and miserable! What a joke she is. She’ll do better at the nearest Taco Bell taking orders at the drive thru window with her BAD ATTITUDE. smh!
The bar is pretty nice and definitely worth the visit. Only the barkeeper could have been a little bit nicer.
Quintessential classic New York cocktail hangout. Yummy drinks!
Went for happy hour and they had a Rum Punch. Usually Happy hour punches are pre made in a pitcher for quick service The bartenders here were making every run punch fresh to order. Takes some time but very Delicious.
The performance, which starts at 9 p.m., is not to be at 10 p.m. Is it so difficult to keep time?
Awesome jazz band was playing. The Moscow Mule drink was incredible!
Fantatsic. I had never had a quality cocktail, but wow. I understand why someone would pay $14 for a rum drink
Great drinks, great atmosphere.
Quality: Awesome! The drinks are on point, and the bartenders really know their stuff. Decor/Atmosphere: the place is attached to the Edison hotel, but has a rustic feel. All the chairs, tables, and barstools are wooden. The bar and all its shelves are wooden as well. Black and white tiles speckle the floor. There is a piano, and Terry Waldo used to plays a live music jam session every Monday. It's Really good. Service: The drinks are amazing! Seriously, they're on the short list for best Manhattan drinks in NYC. It's not always quick, as it can get crowded. But true art takes time, and it's always well worth the wait. Also, they serve popcorn.
A very atmospheric jazz bar at the heart of midtown Manhattan. There was a great jazz blues live when we visited that bar.
AWESOME hidden gem!!! Nice architecture/ design with original Prohibition feel and extensive drink menu.
Actually really good and in midtown. Shocking, kinda.
Nice bartender, good place to enjoy some drinks
Good music, nice drinks, and perfect location!
Friendly service and staff were excellent.
Nice little bar with great live music and delicious food. The atmosphere is great.
Actually good drinks in Times Square. This is a rarity and a treasure. I typically avoid Times Square like the plague, but there are reasons you end up here. This bar is a good one. Since PKNY shut down it's also the best tiki bar in New York City. Order the rum cocktails, sit at the bar, watch the skill of the bartenders, and the enjoy.
Dark & atmospheric. Quieter place to escape busyness of times square. Cheap drinks
Nice vibe and music
Lovely place! Cozy vibe. Great jazz band. Wonderful singer with her crispy lovely voice. Good service. Some of the bartenders not much polite and not cool personality.
Great selection of rums especially my favorite Abuelo
Just randomly entered to a bar to have a drink before dinner, and found the best bar I've been ever!
Eclectic atmosphere, with live jazz (sometimes). Nice selection of cocktails. Drinks are on the high end though $$$
Cozy place with great drinks..
Nice small bar just off times square. The live music was great and the bar tender did not rip you off with weak pours.
Great bar!!! No TV, which I view as a plus. Very friendly bartender, gave us sample of rums.
Chill place to listen to Jazz.
I’ve been looking for a place like this for a very long time. Cozy jazz bar with dimmed lights, great live music and solid cocktails. I’m definitely telling all my friends about this Time Square hidden gem.
We stopped into the Rum House on a rainy night last week, a bit randomly after doing the tourist thing in Time's Square. The atmosphere is dark with red low lighting and on a Sunday night it was fairly busy; we had to wait a bit to get seats at the bar. Staff was nice and pleasant and left us alone when we wanted. We had 4 different rum cocktails, all were great. The mojito was exceptionally good, not too sweet, not too mixed, and they were happy to oblige with my requested topper of some dark rum. The "pina colada" was smooth and had some emotion rather than being basic and plain. We did not try any of the bites, but would highly recommend Rum House for some elegant but still fun and tropical rum drinks. They had an extensive list of other spirits as well, and the old fashioneds looked good but we did not try.
We enjoyed the music and the the drinks. The bar has a speakeasy feel, my brother was supposed to meet us there and walked right by without even noticing it.
Great bar with a yesteryear feel. Good drink/snack for a stop before or after a Broadway show.
The moust beatiful place!!!!!
Great service great drinks
All time Favorite bar, best in manhattan .
Quaint little place inside the hotel. When we were there, there was very nice live jazz quarter, the rum cocktails were interesting and not excessively expensive. The music seemed to be a little loud for the venue size, but still enjoyable. The waitress was very attentive.
Nice ambiance and superb jazz music@
Good drinks, good vibe, good music. Would have been 5 if bartender had been more attentive. Would still go there again!
The Rum House is basically a portal to step back into the early 1900's. With the decor to match, they have a killer jazz band play every once in a while that really gets the place moving. Not a ton of room inside, and the drinks are pricey, but definitely worth a visit inside to check it out. Make sure to try a variation of a Manhattan or even the Dark & Stormy.
Cool spot, ~$16 drinks, live music was great. Gets full fast so try to grab a table early.
Fantastic cocktails here of all kinds, but the rum ones are very special. Comfortable bar walled off from the Edison hotel lobby. The conversation isn't too overbearing and it doesn't feel crowded like a midtown bar should feel. Very comfortable. I will come back for the perfect cocktails and very attentive staff who were so attentive I never had to sit with an empty glass.
Deliciously dark ambiance with a multitude of strong tropical drinks.
Host was helpful with making a large party reservation and accommodating with the party size. Cocktail that I had was rather spirit forward, though still smooth. Menu has sizeable selection even outside of run lm, though not much food. Average price for NYC cocktails. Plays live music sometimes.
Amazing cocktails and they treated my wife with her service dog incredibly!
Great little gem in the jewel of New York..
Great place. Always good music. A bit poor beer selection
They play live music up until 12:30 am and have a great selection of wines and spirits
Tourist trap. Not very cool. Overpriced drinks that are just ok. Waiter didn’t give us back our change
I love this bar/lounge. The music is always great! Rock and roll or indie! The crowd ambience is always cool. It's a great bar to come and catch up with friends since you can hear each other talk. Vodka tonics, cranberry vodka, ginatonic, all $5! Can't find that deal anywhere else!! Also, the age group is between 27-40. Enjoy!
Best jazz and blues music! It was our 2nd year going and will go again next year.
Very nice Friday night. Small bar, close to Times Square with friendly and knowledgable service. Really nice music to talk over, not the beaten path. A nice place for after hours and an oasis from the craziness of the neighborhood. Oh, and lots and lots of rum. Not I knew any of it. But a recommendation from the lovely bartender, or from the friendly crowd will do wonders.
Nice atmosphere, live music, and great rum!
Awesome drinks and knowledge bartenders
A great bar just off Times Square. amazing cocktails and great live music.
Tremendous! Best memory of our visit to NYC. Staff are warm and gracious. Nadine and her jazz band were fabulous. You must go!
Loved the live music. I loved this place.
I’m a rum lover and this place was exactly what I needed. Pages of different rum cocktails and the atmosphere is also great!
Excellent cocktails great live music will be back
Great place to catch up with friends!! Cheers!
Fun, small cocktail bar by Times Square. The live music was excellent.
Old school nyc vibe. Very cool small little bar. Seen some really cool jazz groups here. Highly recommended for some bourbon or gin.
Not my first time here, but I brought a group of friends on a Tuesday afternoon. We were able to pick a great corner seat and adooooored the drinks that we got, each matched to our specific taste. Prices for happy hour are VERY reasonable ($10 for rum punch, made to order!) and the vibe here is so lively yet relaxed. I look forward to going back.
Coolest rum bar in Manhattan... Live band was great.
A very chill bar! Great rum drinks, live music, amazing bartenders. My new favorite theatre district hangout!
Great place. Live music, excellent bar service, well crafted cocktails
I love this place! We stayed at the Edison hotel and this place is at its lobby, just in front of the elevators, so it was impossible for us not stopping there every night before going to bed, because we could hear the live music like telling us come on in! We went 3 nights in a row and every night was a different group of artists performing, all of them wonderful, it's hard to say which is better. If you like Jazz and Blues you will enjoy this place. You not only see tourists here but also locals. Service at bar and at tables is excellent. I highly recommend this place, I can't wait to go back to NYC to go again to the Rum House!
Intimate cocktail bar with excellent music and service. Four stars just because it's in the heart of the theater district and there are tons of tourists. But worth a drink or two!
Great atmosphere lots of people of all ages. They have more than rum. Jazz night on the night I went on Saturday so live music. Cozy atmosphere. Matches devote of the hotel Edison. Nice, funny staff.
We were staying at the Edison Hotel, and the Rum House is located at the first floor, just in front of the elevators. It was just our must go every night before going to sleep. Every night they have live music and every night different artists (and they don't charge cover), all the artists were so good, I couldn't say which was better than the other. We sat at the bar and some times at tables and always good attention. A must go, we definitely go back our next time in NY.
Delicious cocktails and friendly staff. The live music and atmosphere were fantastic.
Great joint at a very accessible location but the drinks don't do justice to this place, I mean how can you mess up a classic Mojito?
Great place to have a drink and listen to some good music!
Great cocktail bar in Time Square area, they have live music some days. If you are looking for a quiet and intimate cocktail bar pass your way. Options are rare in the neighborhood though.
In the middle of the Times Square/Theater District area but still somehow not too exploitative.
This place is the best thing in NYC.
It's ok for the after work office crowd, old school music vibe for the late '30s + age group. Though the lack of seating is overwhelming nothing to worry about if you can get a seat a the Bar. Food is nothing spectacular
not to bad, small and cozy but expensive. if you are a foodie the wring place. options are limited
Ah! Perfect find. Absolutely amazing cocktails, and the entertainment was top notch. Will visit again and again. The bartender warmed up to us. Living in the west coast for 15 years has made me a little sensitive to the east coast lack of warmth, but he came around and it completed the night beautifully!
Very interesting cocktails and friendly staff. Try the Tortuga cocktail
The manager, Adrina, was an absolute delight to work with. I had to set up a last minute networking reception, and we were able to have it at The Rum House with such ease! The atmosphere is delightful: dark woods with a cool speakeasy vibe. The drinks were great too. Delicious rum cocktails are their specialty. Everyone loved the location as it was so close to our conference hotel and just off of Times Square. We all had a wonderful time!
Got my last Manhattan on Manhattan. They make a good drink. Just missed the music sadly, sounded really good when I was walking up
Love this place. So much. The staff was amazing. The drinks were fantastic. And the live music kept us wanting to stay longer! Will be back soon.
Love this place, so old school. Great drinks and atmosphere! Tony Glausi was awesome here!
Drinks are ok. Service decided their own tip. Not impressed
Visited as I was staying at the Edison Hotel which is attached. Photos male the place look light and large however it was much smaller than expected and dark. The seats were tiny and uncomfortable and people were crammed into corners. They have regular live music but however we didn't visit whole this was one. Drinks were ok and service was as expected. They do have a good range of cocktails and spirits if that is your thing. Only visited once as there are much better bars nearby with better selected of beers at better prices and surroundings
We came here after seeing a Broadway show and it was the perfect way to end the night! There was a live performer, Carly Ozard, and she was great. This place was busy but we were still able to grab a little table. The drinks were awesome!
If you like a drink give it a go
Great place + drinks
Good cocktails, great room.
Solid cocktail bar in a part of town that is usually overrun by tourists. Craft drinks, good bartenders, chill vibe.
Classy atmosphere with live music. The cocktails are incredible, especially one called "Tortuga".
Oozes with personality, and great music!
Truly excellent cocktails, and an incredible rum selection. If you're in the choking throngs of times square, duck in here to get a great drink and get out of the crush!
What a great small hidden gem in the middle of hustle and bustle of Times Square. Great cocktails, great atmosphere and great service. They also have a piano player nightly. The bar is located in the historic Hotel Edison so another reason to visit this place. Would definitely go back again.
Vibey, good atmosphere. Only tried two cocktails before our B'Way concert, but the bartender was attentive, and custom-made a drink for me that was delicious. Definite possibility to up the rating after a longer stay with more of a deep dive into the cocktail menu.
Great after theatre place to unwind. You wouldn't know that this place was a "hotel bar." Wonderful trio of live musicians. The "grilled cheese" sandwich was a delicious late night snack. The rum was delicious. I had a mid level flight that came with a tasting booklet and I refilled my glass with one from the list. (Lost the booklet or I would have mentioned the rum by name.) We had a wonderful time at the Rum House.
Honestly thought most bars that close to the theaters would be over priced and under whelming. But I found my drinks, the jungle stirred and ready or not, to be great and worth the price. Was there on a Wednesday night post a show and there was a live jazz trio that really made the mood even better.
A nice, relaxed place. Order your own drinks st the bar. There's no server for tables. Stayed in the Edison hotel, connected to it.
Jazz ensemble hit the notes...need to get some Aussie rum on their shelves
The bartender, Sarah, was AMAZING! SHE IS AN ARTIST. Wife and I had a wonderful time tonight. Sarah made her own cocktails for us which were spectacular...Thank you! It was enjoyable watching her at her craft.
Amazing place and the service was amazing
Cool vibe of this bar with jazz band. Its mystic, dark and crowded. Located in Hotel Edison.
I liked the rum selection. The Tortuga was delish
Great music, great drinks. Cozy
Really a cool place, saw a fun band there tonight. Only complaint, sometimes it took a long time for the waitress to check on you if you wanted another drink, but it was pretty packed to be fair. The atmosphere is fantastic, an awesome old school piano bar. No cover charge for bands, they allow standing room, it is tight but that adds to the atmosphere. I loved it. Will definitely go back
Great original cocktails, a must-visit for rum lovers
Good cocktails
This swanky, candlelit, wood-paneled piano bar draws the well-heeled for classic cocktails.
Excellent use of glow in the dark paint Totally not what I was expecting Glad I went out
Awesome place! The band was really going the night I was there and the singer was doing a great job of interacting with the crowd. And, of course, the drinks were delicious! It was standing room only when I was there but, people seemed to rotate through quickly.
The vibe is awesome here. It almost feels like this place is hidden in the loud and restless Time Square. They have a big menu of different rum drinks. We couldn’t stay longer for the jazz performance but will definitely come back some time!
Really nice bar, with live music, really enjoyed it
Loved the drinks and the conversation
Ok place if you're waiting for a show in the area but basically no food and super expensive but good drinks
Extensive rum selection, attentive service, excellent cocktails. Would return.
Yummy craft cocktails for typical New York prices. Lots of rum options, obviously, but other spirits were featured in many original and classic cocktails. The drinks menu is 5 pages with a few bar snacks offered as an afterthought, so a good place for a before or after dinner drink spot.
Great rum selection
The live band sounded great but there was too many people in there for my liking. Alot of people who weren't bothered about the band were shouting over the music to hear each other talk which was a little annoying
A great vintage atmosphere, great rums, and there was even live entertainment last night (Friday). The bartender we had was very knowledgeable and helped us in deciding which flight of rums we wanted to try. They do also have a fully stocked bar outside of rums for those who would like to choose something else. I would recommend stopping in if you're nearby!
Good spot for a quick meeting if doing business in the area. Looks like a fun spot at night.
Another place where my blonde bombshell sings.
An intimate, old-school Times Square hotel bar that's a hip, cool, modern throwback -- sounds incongruous, but it works!
Great place for drinks and a great conversation!
Amazing atmosphere, great music, and incredible drinks!
Live music was wonderful!
Amazing cocktails! We’ve tried 6 different cocktails from Rum list and all of them were amazing!
Great music and drinks. Enough said
Came upon it by happenstance and had a fantastic time. Great music, good selection of cocktails and a very old school feel. Really enjoyed the Monday night scene
Bouncer is very friendly, Bar Lady crying because it was busy. Not sure about that
Its reminiscent of vintage New York. So Classy
Live music on a Friday night. Tight space but very cool atmosphere
Great cocktails and small jazz bar vibe. Great place to grab a cocktail before or after a show.
My first time checking this bar out with a friend last night and both of us loved it. The security guard, and both bar tenders were very accommodating and professional. Both of them had great bed side manner. Our drinks were delicious. I will be back soon!
Great atmosphere, rum cocktails are nice, try the dark and stormy.
Great jazz and rum-laced drinks. Yum!
Nice place with good drinks and great music But it small so it first come when it come to seats
Best bar in Theater district- Try anything with rum in it.
We went with my wife for a drink after the theater. It was such a cool place. We didn’t have very much time because we had a dinner reservation but still, we enjoyed the very cool environment, nice cocktails, very fast service. That night there was a small band playing making things even more nice. Hope next time will have more time.
Great spot for a drink and some music. Wonderful bartenders.
Cute drinking spot with live jazz music. Gets pretty busy and service ends at 12:30am or so, so make sure you get there early. Great rum cocktails if you're into rum, but they do have a variety of drinks. Not much with vodka though - but what can you expect? It's a rum house!
Classy bar with live music events. As in the name, they do serve a variety of different rums. We enjoyed the night there a lot!
Best spot for rum that I've found in NYC. The staff is really knowledgeable and it's great to chat with other rum enthusiasts there. Also really like the early 1900s vibe they have goinf on.
Wonderful space, exceptional service and the cocktails were perfect. I don't have a single negative impression of this place. I will most definitely return!
Jazz combo played in the corner while we sipped excellent rum drinks. This was a wonderful way to end a long day of NY sightseeing.
We came here on a BUSY night. The staff are fantastic, drinks are even better and the live music was awesome. Definitely recommend.
