Christina Porter

5 stars for the view, the food, and the service. I thought it was all around amazing.

Tim Clay

What a fantastic restaurant, amazing food, superb staff, and a beautiful location. A must for a wonderful meal.We went for the taster menu, 7 courses which were all sublime. They also went the extra mile with an anniversary surprise dessert. Worth every penny. Will definitely make another booking when we return.

Food are delicate. View is amazing. We treat our uncle and aunt for dinner and they really enjoy. All the staff are very well professional (except a gentleman who is the host in the lobby doesn’t show enough respect). The wine consultant very knowledgeable and gave the great advice. It definitely worth to try at least once.

Stunning food & location. The service was fantastic, well worth a visit for a special occasion

Sofia Henderson

Exceptional service and amazing food. It's pretty pricey but it's worth it for a special occasion. The view is gorgeous!!

Serena Uible

Had a wonderful experience here. The food was terrific and so was the service. The views are spectacular. I've eaten a number if really good meals, but this place is one of the very best - the service, the food and the views name for a really memorable experience. Highly recommended.

It is with reluctance that I write a 2-star review for The River Café. This was meant to be a memorable experience - and to be fair it was, but not in the right way! I booked Sunday brunch for myself and my fiance on our once-in-a-lifetime trip to NYC, as the Sunday was his birthday and I wanted to treat him, and had put money aside specifically. He doesn't tend to wear a suit as he doesn't even have to for his job, but he understood the importance of adhering to the dress code (which they say is slightly more relaxed on a Sunday) and dressed up in very smart trousers, a short sleeved shirt, blue suit jackets and lovely Hugo Boss leather shoes. We felt certain we'd be up to the high standard that the River Café clearly set. We arrived and were shown to our seat, close to the window as I'd requested for the special occasion, which was lovely. We started to sit down, and my fiance went to take his suit jacket off. I must mention at this point that we were already a little surprised by the attire of others in the restaurant, given how strictly their dress code was reinforced on us when our booking was confirmed - there were people in jeans, t-shirts, short sleeved shirts, etc and this included people by the windows. So my fiance started to take his jacket off, and as I mentioned he was wearing a short sleeved shirt - which revealed literally an inch of a tattoo he has on his upper arm under the bottom of the sleeve. The maitre d' caught sight of this and immediately very abruptly insisted my fiance put his suit jacket back on! Given the efforts he had gone to in order to adhere to their archaic dress code in the first place, he was very insulted and humiliated, and regrettably this put a sour twist on the rest of the experience. We were given the wine menu and we chose a glass each - I chose a particularly sweet (usually dessert) wine (which is to my taste) which got a raised eyebrow from the waiter... from there on in, the whole experience seemed a little ridiculous to us and actually, we just sort of made fun of the situation and laughed about it together, which was the only thing that cut through the stuffy atmosphere! I'm not sure our cheerfulness was appreciated though, we were watched like a hawk by the maitre d' for the rest of our meal. (I do have to mention though that most of the servers were very good and treated us with respect). The food itself was very good and beautifully presented... worthy of all the rave reviews though? I'm not sure. We had better food at much less expensive/pretentious restaurants and with hindsight, we'd rather have spent our $260 for brunch (!) at one of those. We were so disappointed at their obvious distaste over my fiancé's tattoo (which incidentally is a very tasteful work of art and probably cost more than their grand piano) and ensuing treatment, that we couldn't give more than 2 stars. It had the potential to spoil what was otherwise a very lovely day for us... fortunately we made the decision to shake it off and ignore their attitudes! Having spent a week in a city covered in rainbows to celebrate Pride 2019, a city that embraces individuality and applauds different cultures, races, religions, lifestyles and so on, it was a genuine shock to us to find somewhere so set in their ways and so discriminatory. This was genuinely the only bad customer service experience we had during our entire trip. I can only think that they are going to have to eventually change with the times, or risk alienating themselves altogether. A real disappointment!

Had a great 20 th Anniversary Dinner, staff was very accommodating, excellent service , food was delicious ( celiac friendly ) . A wow evening - thank you to the entire staff

Matthew R

Super tasty. Super fancy. Super views. Super service. Super EXPENSIVE!

sean Joo

Price and atmosphere service and food was very good

Alex De Guzman

Amazing view and entrance to restaurant.

David Fregens

Amazing place to come visit at and enjoy the scenery along with the food.

MT BellverBaca

The best tartar I've had in my life. The environment and the staff are impeccables.

Eric Fazilleau

Being French, I was expecting more from “Michelin” rating. The price is definitely “Michelin” but not the food. You pay for the view which is unforgettable so being priceless, right ! The food is good but not exceptional for the price. Sides are even low in quality and tasting (over cooked gratin). They want to get sophisticated with mandatory suit jacket (they can loan you) but they miss the most important....the way you serve dishes...you serve on the side of the guests NOT holding across the table bending over another guest. It’s rude and unsophisticated. You get that in a sport bar! Also, dishes are not when served. Conclusion: go for the view and having an expensive dinner but don’t expect the food quality for the $$$$$ in your plate.

Jason John

Excellent food, the staff that assisted us were very gracious. The view was unapologetically BEAUTIFUL. Not the most frugal choice but definitely worth trying once.

Abby Rosado

I will not recommend to my friends and family. I posted a picture of the view, but will definitely not recommend to anyone! I was not a fan of the service, food or the location we were seated. I spent so much money and the food was not that great. The bread they served was cold and hard. I had the gnocchi which was also cold, and the baked chicken with wine reduction sauce, which I didn’t finish. I also asked for a table by the water, and there were two (two seater) tables available and the host said they didn’t have any availability. I understand there was probably a long wait for those seats, but we also waited, and reserved in advanced. I was told they do not reserve window seats. Overall I didn’t see the big deal besides the beautiful scenery outside. I’ve eaten in way better restaurants for the price that I paid.. my bill was $468.00 for two people... I’ve had smaller bills with better quality food. Very disappointed...

Brighitte Shalom

Outstanding in every way! Book way in advance. Brunch is highly recommended.

Fernando De Santiago Tamez Velarde

I've never experienced anything like it, ordered the Smoked Salmon Benedicts and I'm just speechless. When i first sat down i didn't know what to expect but little did i know I'd going to have the best meal I've ever tasted. I would go there if I could everyday but the truth is that I can't, and that's ok because I'll have the memory of when a dish changed my life. -S Edit: Grammar

Just take a moment to rest after a long walking through Brooklyn Bridge, and enjoy of a nice food and environment. Beautiful location and good service

johnathan nunez

Food is amazing, service is fantastic, great atmosphere and beautiful water front view!!!!

Loren Flores

I Love this place wonderful place and amazing food and the service is great.

Yash Bhatia

My girlfriend and I were visiting our friends near by and before we head home, we were wanting to stop by and get a couple drinks at the bar. The valet let us in despite the dress code policy which we weren’t aware of because of which we were denied entry by the sommelier at the front desk. I understand the dress code rules but what was disappointing was that I was even denied to use the restroom before we stepped out into the frigid weather. It’s a shame that this kind of behavior is supported and goes by without a check since the manager could care less by not showing up even when requested for. No restroom policies were or moral code at this restaurant!

Terence McNicholas

Took my beautiful girlfriend here for her 26th birthday. We had the incredible tasting menu and they basically had to roll us out by the end. The views, service and ambiance were worth five stars alone. Every New Yorker should experience it once. One of the most memorable dinners I've had in NYC.

Edward Bailey

The food is good. The service is good, as long as you're willing to wait a while for deserts or the check. But after 4 years of going there, dozens of time, we still never got a table next to the window. Always in the back.

Faye Giblin

Overpriced and tries to be over-fussy to give the impression of excellence... but the food is not excellent. We was given a choice of only 2 options... a 3 course taster or a 6 course taster menu with only a $30 price difference so went for the 6, naturally. Of the taster menu, we got one course where my husband and I got a different dish each! Never in my life seen that before and to be honest it irritated me. The dessert was a simple chocolate ganache that anyone could make. Ultimately with just a couple of drinks the bill was $520 for a meal for two. If the taster menu was (as it is supposed to be) a general overview of the chefs talents, then this place needs to up their game on about 3 of the 6 courses... especially the simple under-impressive dessert! They made this look like the bridge as a gimmick at the end - don't need gimmicks at over $500 - just need to come away impressed, well fed, and happy. We sat close to where all the staff seemed to congregate near the kitchen and too close to another table to our right, one table away from the window.... having asked for a window seat and booked months in advance.. so no effort there either! Would never go again and would actually recommend that you Don't go there to spend your hard earned cash. The view is great on a sunny evening but I think that's what they rely on the bring people through the door.

Pamela Chacon

I proposed to the love of My Life at Rockefeller center and the had the most incredible dining experience at the River Café. Attention to every detail to make or occasion feel as we where the only ones there. Each and every course from the chefs tasting menu was suburb. Thank you for making Our special day the best

Juney Gheel

Amazing!!! The place it self is located in a very nice location . The view in some of the tables is beautiful. The food IS INCOMPARABLE OMG, is so delicious. Yes the portions are very small, but we all know the small the place the better taste it is . Good services and nice and classy restaurant.

Trisha Taylor

We went here for dinner after our wedding. The food was amazing. The service was superb. The setting was romantic. I highly recommend this establishment.

Jacquelyn Casey

Have been here a few times and each and every time, every staff member has made me, my mom, and my girlfriend feel like royalty. Extremely romantic atmosphere, comfortable seating, food is Michelin rated and rightfully so. You never have to ask for water, salt/pepper/sweetener...One of, if not THE most amazing restaurant I've ever been too. The River Cafe is truly magical. It's the type of place that you go to when you really want that something extra special...but the ultimate test...this is the place you go to with the love of your life.

The VALLE Brothers and Co.

the seasoning of the dishes the chef prepares melts your mouth. it's incredibly exquisite. they have so many good choices to eat that it's hard to choose one. a wonderful view by the WAy , was our Very firts time over here.

Torey McCleskey

These courses are a full body experience. Highly recommend the chef's tasting menu, they're small dishes but incredibly savory. Not uncommon for the chef to send out extra courses if they are feeling creative. Great cocktails and a wine list the literal size of a book. The experience at River Cafe is incredibly expensive and absolutely worth every dollar.

There is not much to say about River Café that hasn’t already been said, its reputation precedes it and our experience absolutely lived up to expectations. We were seated in the middle and enjoyed both the lively atmosphere inside and the magical panorama of the twinkling lights of Manhattan. We went with a la carte and the food was phenomenal, the service charming from start to finish, making the evening truly unforgettable. A must visit in New York and I certainly hope to be back, if only to try the tasting menu.

Daniel Maurrasse

Managers here tried to treat my Latina friend like she didn't belong. Also accused her of faking a reservation. Gave her dirty looks and stared at her up and down. Obviously management cannot act this way. You are in Hospitality, don't be so assuming and Racist!

dcm971able

Very classy dining with a nice view.

Samantha Stukes

Andres and King provided superb service, great conversation with plenty smiles and laughs. They were the cherry on top of the gorgeous view and delicious food! What a delight!

michael usyk

I guess the food is pretty good

Xiangyu Li

Fantastic place and amazing experience I've ever had!!! Wonderful view and delicious food. Romantic environment to my date. I would choose again, if I want to date in future

Yolanda Bustillo

Wow, just wow. This restaurant is everything I could have asked for. Great attention, accommodations, and the food was just spectacular. Every item brought out had a clear level of culinary thought that brought out distinct flavors. Though it is quite expensive, the most expensive meal I have ever had in New York thus far, I can honestly say it has been the best dining experience I have ever had. We ordered the scallops and pork belly as well as the roasted rabbit with lasagna appetizers. I ordered the steak and my date ordered the lamb. We both asked for the brooklyn bridge chocolate cake for dessert. Everything from start to finish was phenomenal. I honestly probably wouldn't order the roasted rabbit appetizer again, but otherwise I would order everything exactly the same. I would love to return some day.

Arthur Craig

service was amazing .Starter as also good. The staff was helping and dedicated towards their duty. Genuine price with quality food. Place was cool and attractive. The way management works was appreciable . Always had great food here. So highly recommended place from me.

Sean Goodwin

Everything about our experience at this restaurant was excellent. The staff were extremely kind and helpful, the view was brilliant, and the food was great. After finding a minor imperfection in one of our second course meal dishes, the staff apologized and brought everyone at our table an additional course. We all enjoyed our time here and hope to return when we are back in New York! I previously dined here roughly two months ago, but forgot to leave a review.

Oscar Ortiz

Food was great and amazing views and well groomed staff !

Andy Berman

Beautiful view and location. when booking the reservation, I was placed on a wait list and the dress code was emphasized. I was later called and advised there was an opening. When I arrived, valet ran out to advise I couldn’t park there assuming I wasn’t a customer. What a way to set the tone for the experience. When walking in, there were two gentlemen in construction attire sitting in the booths. What happen to the dress code?! There was also 7 tables available. Was the wait list a gimmick?! The mushroom Wellington was over cooked and too dry. The mashed potatoes didn’t have any flavor. Overall, mediocre experience and probably my first and last visit.

Kevin Gan

Totally complacent mediocre dining experience. They are only in business because they have a nice view. Otherwise, front of house, service, and food are extremely underwhelming. Go to emp or aska if you want quality without pretense.

Martina Labadie

It love it! Top notch five star service great attention to detail. It was a bit chill that evening and the metroidi was kind to offer us shawls to keep us warm if we wanted. I had been wanting to find a good serving of Fois Gras and I found it there and as a duet to, imagine my excitment. I tried their goat cheesecake and was very please. I wish I could dine there every night. We were a party of 4 and everyone gave it raving reviews. My cousin picked a wonderful place to celebrate her birthday. Three of us had lamb and the other, skirt steak. The German wine was delightful.

Liza

Wow! The food, the ambiance, and the staff were incredible! Such a spectacular view too! We came for breakfast and everything - from sweet, to savory, to cocktails - was delicious. Highly recommend for a special meal.

Julio Paz

Amazing experience! I love NYC, but sometimes you can miss the classic French service. As soon as we walked we were greeted with a man playing the piano, great service and amazing food. Best foie gras I’ve ever had. It was the perfect spot for a special occasion. I proposed to my wife here!

Frank Provenzano

The River Cafe is always a must stop for me when I come to NYC to visit family. It has never disappointed me. Today was exceptional. Staff was attentive and the food was superb. I had Wagyu Pastrami with sunny side up eggs. The eggs were perfect and the pastrami was flavorful and tender. My wife had the smoked salmon and said it was so tender it almost melted on her tongue. We cannot say enough good things.

Anita Changur

I attended for a brunch and the menu is delicious. The Brooklyn Bridge chocolate dessert was fantastic.

sulay restrepo

I had dinner and brunch at this restaurant, dinners goes for about $150 something per person and brunch $67 per person without drinks. This restaurant is by the water I highly suggest to ask for a table by the window where you can see the city. The food is without doubt high quality and the service is excellent, they do get out of their way to make their customers happy. They have a parking lot and a beautiful park outside the restaurant.

Austin McBride

I was at first alarmed when I heard of "bath-time with Buzzy", what did this mean, and furthermore, what did this have to do with a high-end restaurant in New York City? After further explanation it became clearer to me that this was no ordinary ritual, nor was it by any means unwholesome. Bath-time with Buzzy was a way for the employees to make their appreciation for life-support and monetary gain by cleaning the gruesome areas between Buzzy's thighs that even Buzzy himself would have rather not touched. While this Bath-time With Buzzy was but an urban myth, it sustained the employees work-attitudes beyond that of the wildest or most productive drug. After Bath-time, the employees would bark at the clientele, invigorated by the spirit of Buzzy and his underparts. The employees would quickly duck behind the bar, leaving the upscale clientele thirsty and confused as to where the barking noise came from. While the barking might have ceased, the spirit of the purity lives on through the memory of Buzzy and those that had the pleasure of washing him.

Bryan Schooling

The food is excellent. The venue is top class as well with incredible views over the water. Service is to a high standard as to be expected. Tax is added to the price at the end and the service charge is included at 18%. The wine list is extensive and will not disappoint. Jeans should not be worn and you will not look out of place with jacket and tie. Dress appropriately.

Rufus Jones

Excellent experience, service was top-notch. The ambience was fantastic. The view is outstanding, it is definitely a nice romantic place at at night. Prices vary from moderate to expensive... Well worth it

Matthew Parsons

Great for a special breakfast looking back under the Brooklyn Bridge to the Manhattan skyline. Attentive and lovely staff

Helen Rosei

Such a beautiful restaurant with outstanding service. The food is incredible but the service is top notch. A little pricey though but it makes u feel like you’ve traveled somewhere else and came back

Very very very fancy place. Table clothed tables and men must wear jackets to enter. If without, The River Cafe will supply you with one. Two couples on either side of us got engaged there in front of our eyes that night. Beautiful view iconic location. Delicious food but v. expensive.

Anna Sterne

About a week ago I hosted my father's 100th birthday party at the River Cafe. It was a glorious day in this beautiful venue. But the best part was the staff who work there. From the event planner who made the planning process easy and flawless to the Maitre D' and the servers, everyone was just lovely. Polite and friendly. (Not stone faced and serious, as you see at some fancy restaurants.) They seemed to actually enjoy working dad's party. The River Cafe also provided a list of vendors. The AV person was great and the florist was exceptional. And both worked within our budget. It goes without saying that the food was exceptional. Something delicious for everyone including the vegetarians. And everyday another friend or relative texts or emails me to say what a wonderful event it was and how great the River Cafe was. Mom turns 100 in 4 years! Fingers crossed we'll be back!

Piotr S

A tourist trap and a rip off. We went there for a cup of cofee late morning ... upon paying we have learned they apply a 20$ minimum charge per person - no verbal or written warning when you enter. Otherwise elegant but snobbish place.

Manal Al

Amazing view, food, and service!

Alessandro Preston

This spot knows how to satisfy their clients. Always with a very nice approach. The food is affordably priced, constantly flavorful and clean.

Lisa Cyrus

It's a great place to celebrate a birthday or anniversary! The 3 course meal is unique and delicious

Amy Hemingway

Tried visiting on Saturday, thinking about having our wedding party here. Nope. We were treated very rudely at the front door. We were told we could not go in because we did not have reservations even though we were just looking for a cocktail and I have been there many times with no ressie. I will certainly enjoy spending my wedding money somewhere else.

Colleen Christian

Our May 2019 wedding at The River Café was perfect and a dream come true! The garden, food, ambiance, terrace and view made it unique and fabulous. The staff fulfilled all our needs and the service was impeccable. Luke was a great partner to work with and I did not need a wedding planner because he brought a lot of great ideas to the table. He was patient throughout the whole process and also fun to work with! Guests have been raving about the cocktail hour. I loved the Aperol Spritz and fruit and cheese table

deval shah

Best restaurant with awesome view. Me and my wife went on our wedding anniversary and we had really good time. I like their vegetarian menu and people were very friendly. Defiantly recommend this.

Avyn Gray

This place was perfect. The staff was professional, attentive, soft spoken, informative, and used gender-neutral pronouns for me (I'm Trans). This was an incredible experience and we plan to make it an annual trip.

Dan Brace

what can i say , i had the chance to eat here when i was staying in new york and wow the food and views where amazing you can see the whole of Manhattan and you sit under the brooklyn bridge which is amazing

Andrew Hassell

Very expensive, however, the food is delicious and the staff are incredibly attentive. No rush to get you out, fantastic views!

Lusy Seitz

A friend of mine from NY told me if you don’t go to The River Café this will mean you did not see NY. Very happy that we could get a table on a short notice. Wonderful service, delicious food and of course fantastic view. MUST PLACE IN NY.

Arthur Craig

service was amazing .Starter as also good. The staff was helping and dedicated towards their duty. Genuine price with quality food. Place was cool and attractive. The way management works was appreciable . Always had great food here. So highly recommended place from me.

Jennifer Swank Wiley

Great service, great view, great atmosphere. Just showed up without reservation so I stayed at the bar. Unfortunately they do not allow you to order food at the bar, so only got to order a glass of wine. Which was great. They gave a small snack at the bar of candied almonds & some cracker thins. Good stuff. Really enjoyed walking around the garden area outside of the restaurant, as well as soaking in the beautiful city views from across the river!!!

D. Comanda

Ok so giving this 4 stars because I didnt eat here, but based on the reviews, I would suggest staying at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge and reserving a bridge view room. Order room service, awesome view, drink at rooftop lounge, cuddle in bed, have brunch next morning. It will cost more but not that much more than what you'll pay for dinner at River Cafe...and NO Racism!

Marcy Valerie Entero

This place might be illustrious, fancy and serving good food, but the man in-charge of private dining (Luke Vossen) is just plain rude and unprofessional who simply does not live up to the restaurant's reputation. I sent him an email (as referred to by an employee via phone call to the restaurant) with regards to my interest on holding an intimate gathering for a party of 25-30. Apparently, in my email to him, he only replied with just 1 line. No greeting nor whatsoever. It just disgusts me how a wonderful restaurant can allow workers like him to be employed in a prestigious place. I hope this makes it a reminder that no matter where you are, where you go, to always remember your manners and respect especially to customers.

Leticia Casper

The River Cafe is one of my favorite places to go with my best friend. The coffee is strong and good. I am getting a different dessert every time a go there because they're really good. The view is absolutely stunning. So for a Sunday coffee with your besty The River Cafe is a really good idea. I like the fancy atmosphere and the service is amazing. Everyone is really friendly. So you next Sunday morning.

jolene howard

Lives up to it's remarkable 40-year reputation. Go for the view, return for the meal. Wine selection is outstanding.

AJ Kuri

I stopped by for breakfast and I was blown away by the amazing gourmet food. The staff was incredibly friendly and hospitable. This upscale restaurant knows what they are doing, providing elegant meals with an unbeatable view. I highly recommend the pancakes

Matt B

Stuck in the past. There is no real point in a dress code. I'm going for the food, not to be a part of a scene

Rene Rivera

The food and service where top notch !!!

Lina Ebel

One of my favorite places in town.

Niamh Parsley

Nice place. Great views. Good food. Good service.

Bradley Cain

Breathtaking views of Manhattan and amazing dishes to help you take it all in. Worth an afternoon or evening indeed.

Patrina Huff

Upscale with great views.

NST Pictures

The River Cafe is a very romantic place to hold a wedding. We've filmed intimate weddings here and it's always been a treat. The view is gorgeous! We highly recommend checking out this venue if you're planning a wedding.

Kyle Mauck

Was loving this place. Awesome food. Beautiful views and great attendants. Camille and Alex are awesome. Then They flopped on a nice bottle of wine. It didn’t taste right. Sommelier said it was good. But it wasn’t. Suggestion. Listen to your clients. All you had to do was offer anther bottle. Was it worth losing a client over ?

Christina Avril

Absolutely lovely! Who know this hidden treasure was right here in Brooklyn! When we turned into the driveway I felt like my husband had swept me into a fairytale! Service is phenomenal! I will certainly surprise him and anniversary lunch here in the future. I couldn't have been more pleased.

Marco Ruiz

Beautifully decorated , warm and with this special service that makes a place different and authentic . The view? Not even the best post card . Food ? The menu was amazing every dish was well designed and cook to near perfection. I tried the rabbit and the steak which where delicious , beautifully cooked specially the steak. We had 3 different menus so i had the chance to try deifferent dishes like the duck and sea scallot which elwere cooked to perfection. The three of us had a really good experience although the place is not for every wallet but the experience will be unforgettable.

Steve C 032

This place has been around for a long time. I love The River Cafe! I think the fact it's very old school and classic when it comes to having a dress code is one of the main reasons I like this place. I always feel like I stepped back in time when coming here. The food is delicious regardless what you order. I've had the poached lobster a few times....it was so good. The steak here is really good! We've had the smoked salmon and caviar app a few times...really good too. Anyone dining here for the first time, regardless if with family or spouse, you must have the chocolate Brooklyn Bridge!! It's humongous and so good!!!

Gavin Holden

Hands down the best restaurant I've ever been to. The service was out of this world as was the food and the view of new York skyline was amazing. If you want to splash the cash and impress an SO this is the place!

Mathieu Nouzareth

I had so much hope for this institution... The food was average to bad. Service was ok but not super friendly. I guess this is what an American audience thought a fancy restaurant would look like 40 years so. There are so many cheaper restaurants in the city that are way better. Very very disappointed :-(

Anthony Rice

Simply amazing. Make sure to bring a suit jacket for required attire. You may leave a little hungry depending on what you order. I ordered lobster should have gone with steak. Still very delicious

Diego Cepeda

Great restaurant at an excellent location, the view is spectacular.

Xiangyu Li

Fantastic place and amazing experience I've ever had!!! Wonderful view and delicious food. Romantic environment to my date. I would choose again, if I want to date in future

Jacqueline Cerniglia

Came for a wedding and it was done so beautifully. Amazing view of the water and hands down best wedding food I’ve ever had.

HOWARD Felder

The place and service is excellent. The food like the view is top notch.

Darby Schafer

Best Duck I've ever had. Everything was delicious and the service impeccable!

D Stevens

I first found this restaurant over 30 years ago when I was looking for a late night spot after catching a show with friends in Manhattan. We were surprised that the celebrity we saw in the show decided this was his go to spot after the show. Since then I have been back several times and have always loved the food. They have a fabulous menu that is a gastronomic delight. The ambiance is truly an experience in this great restaurant situated almost under the Brooklyn Bridge with memorable views over the East River to the Manhattan skyline. I can't recommend one dish over another as they are all very good and its a matter of your desire. You wont be disappointed.

matt karmilowicz

If you’re going to treat yourself to a nice meal with spectacular views, this is the place you want to go. We had a great meal, from starters to desert. The food was prepared perfectly on every course. All the staff didn’t miss a beat when it came to the service as well. I’d recommend if your celebrating or want a nice quiet evening with a view of the Manhattan skyline or Brooklyn bridge.

Tea Forsythe

This place is pricey but it's well worth it. My husband took me here for our 1 year wedding anniversary. This is the type of place you go out to for special occasions. The three courses were fresh and filling. The service is outstanding and personal which makes it a worthy expense.

Maki Maki

Service was great. Everybody was very attentive. And really loved and apriciate my wife birthday petit fours tray. Amazing. Thanks you a lot.

Greg S.

Awesome experience. The food was great. attention to every detail by staff.

Robert Korwin

Cant sing the praises loud enough for this icon on the river. Especially nice was the maitre d' Josh Brown, who gave us a window seat for my birthday. Food and service were old school attentive.

Byron Hazell

Almost perfect but the restaurant management needs process improvement. We were visiting from Washington DC and in the rush of departing I left my Visa at home. Upon arriving at The Conrad, I contacted Capital one to see if an emergency card could be delivered. Capital one not only wanted to send me a card, the representative provided me with an alternate option, the app allowed it's high end credit card members to show the actual card within the app with a few simple security questions. This gives anyone the option to type the card number in manually, but not River Cafe. Either they didn't know how to use there credit card machine (which I highly doubt) or they were just that lazy. However I hate to say it, i believe that since I was black they were not willing to accommodate typing in 16 numbers into their machine to make the night go smooth. The hostess contacted the floor manager, the floor manager contacted the restaurant manager and all stated they needed the chip and couldn't accept the credit card image. My immediate thoughts were, how come you took my credit card information over the phone to hold my reservation and informed me that if I didn't show for my reservation I would be charged. How were they going to charge me if they didn't have my physical card had I not shown up? The food was a culinary delight, hands off to the chef, the view was beautiful, however that was all tarnished because management wouldn't type in my Capital One Quicksilver number with a $5,000 limit for a $355 meal. Of course the lack of empathy caused my gratuity thoughts to provide the base minimum since no one wanted to take 30 seconds and type in my number. Management took away the opportunity for more gratuity, not because I left my card, because I was black. Had I been one of the weathly white men sitting across from us and he left his card, it would be been no problem in typing in the card number to get their funds. They cant say its policy because each credit card merchant provides a card reader to type in numbers, they just didn't want my money because I was black.

The River Café never disappoints. Superior quality and class in every possible detail. You will walk out having had the ultimate dining experience.

Tomás Hillmann

A high-end restaurant, with spectacular service that compensates for its high prices. the service includes entrance fund and dessert, only drinks excluded. The high quality of the offered is incomparable, a perfect place for a marriage proposal Really deserved its 5 stars.

Sufian Rafiq

Great place for romantic date night. Great food and service.

Maurice MalloryGillespie

Always a favorite. Amazing location under the Brooklyn Bridge views of Manhattan water taxis and the Brooklyn Pier. 5 Star service level..pre fixe menu never disappoints. Would not recommend for children (dinner) . Dress men jackets... women dressy.

Richard Hastings

Words cannot do this remarkable place justice. The way fine dining should be and an experience which should not be missed!

Steve Lacy

The River Cafe is an ultimate dining destination in a beautiful setting. From the moment you walk in, it is a special dining experience.

It’s said on the website that there’s a dress code for dinner. We are touring in NY for the first time and of course we need comfortable cloths so we booked this restaurant for brunch. Well, despite the fact that there was plenty of available tables by the windows we couldn’t get one because of our casual cloths. And people kept looking at us which made this a terrible experience. Result: 200 dollars bill and we left the restaurant very upset. I wouldn’t come back, and don’t recommend. The food was not worthy of the value of it also, the mushroom Wellington was definitely not what you expect from a Michelin rated restaurant....

Exceptional service. Gorgeous mountains of fresh cut flowers. They were accommodating when we were tardy for our breakfast reservation due to a sprained ankle. Food and ambiance were well worth it for their weekday breakfast offering.

Bradley Box

Friendly & knowledgeable staff. Gourmet dinner.

Steve Tukavkin

Amazing restaurant with fantastic view of Manhattan!

Reade Melgar

Nice place, but the food was decent. Wasn't worth the money.

Kuixi Zhu

They don't care about your food requirement. I send them email before about our food allergy and preference. However, as we arrive, they act like they hear nothing from us.

Anthony Washington

The staff were extremely kind, the view was brilliant, the food was great. Fantastic place

360 Outing

Amazing food, friendly staff. The atmosphere takes you back to the good Old days, where courtesy and elegance was a thing. Love it.

Kaylan Mills

Excellent hospitality, great food and amazing views. A classic NYC experience. Could be 5 starts if it were slightly better priced, our bill was 800 dollars for 4 people.

Rashmi Iyer

I love this place! This restaurant is such an amazing experience! The food is unbelievably delicious, even if you are vegetarian, which was such a pleasant surprise. Definitely a place for special occasions because it is formal and pricey but definitely worth going to at least once in your life!

Last time I came with my childhood friends and we memories all the things we used to do. We had fun a lot and we we're ate a lot. This place is nothing just love for me.

Yolanda Sumter

My husband Ricardo Sumter took me here for my birthday last night. It was a surprise. All I can say is Wow. Very professional, attentive, romantic, view is impeccable and food/wine is divine. Very upscale and they pay close attention to detail. Thank you babe I love you and enjoyed myself

Brunch Review- Prix Fixe two course (more like three course) brunch at River Cafe. Very delicious and portion for the App and Main are generous. Note: they do call to confirm, so even if you confirm on open table still have to have the voice call.

Warren Lively

Fantastic food, great ambiance, amazing service, and delicious desserts

Always amazing food here and the views are spectacular. I was however disappointed that having booked almost 4 months in advance for a joint birthday celebration My daughters 21st. My 50th and my mums 70th, that despite asking we still were not given a window view. Apparently the tables are held so even though one was free for a period of time a local always has it!!! Shame However thanks to Michael our sommelier who saved the day.

Minerva Lopez

Excellent food and service from the moment you step in. Ambience was great...the kind of restaurant you want to spend with loved ones.

Marios MG

Well if you are not a friend of Maitre'D don't you ever expect to be seated at the window with the nice views. So after 5 times I have tried to be seated at the window in 5 different trips to NY from the other end of the world I can insure the management of this restaurant that I will never return back here. As an Officier of the Chaines des Rotisseurs in my country I would definitely say, this is a disgrace for a restaurant to tried returning customers in such a fascistic way. The one star for the people in the service who do a great job.

I loved it!!!! I went here on a Saturday at 2pm to have a fancy lunch. I made the reservation online and I received a call from a staff member 2 days before to confirm the reservation. I knew there was a dress code so I looked it up on their website to get an idea of what is acceptable. Their website stated "Semi-casual," hm, does this sound helpful to you? It didn't for me so when she called me, I asked her specifically, can guys wear shorts? She said, "no, no shorts at all." I relayed this message to my bf and he showed up in long black pants. Needless to say, it was a hot day. We arrived a little early than 2pm and was greeted by the hostess. She told us to sit by the bar until our table was ready. I sat there, looked around, and what do I see? Gentlemen with shorts!! This is the only reason why I docked a star. Drinks are super pricey here ($17+). We were seated by the window (yay)! I had the sea scallop and pork belly as the appetizer and the niman steak as the main. Both were delicious and the portion for the main was actually more than I had imagined. We were also given complimentary treats and really appreciated that. I had noted that this lunch was to celebrate my birthday. After the main course, we were given a dessert menu and I ordered the "Brooklyn Bridge." It came nicely presented and had a "Happy Birthday" chocolate on it. Nice touch! The service was impeccable. No snobby attitude or rude behavior. I thought we would be ignored but they were actually very attentive to us. It is pricey but the lunch is worth it. I'd recommend coming here to celebrate a special occasion.

So, the weather was amazing and it was perfect place to visit .Service was too good, talking about the food I order stuffed chicken which was good the sauce, the crisp was amazing which is served with olives and jalapeno, over all its a best place to visit specially for birthdays.

Horace Hamilton

Service....excellent; food...exquisite; view...awesome!

Very Romantic & Stunning view! We discovered this place years back, when John & Yoko frequented this restaurant. We recently returned for our anniversary- and while it is expensive- it is everything I remember- the excellent service, the dining experience is above par with other NYC spots. The view speaks for itself and our dinner and wine exceeded our expectations. Complimentary dessert was chocolate shape of the Brooklyn Bridge. Reservations & jackets for men required. Arrive early to enjoy it all and take photos. Big time favorite of mine- holds great memories.

Jason Ovalles

My fiancée and I come to this restaurant every year for our anniversary and we always look forward to returning. Impeccable service, delicious food, and a gorgeous view. An absolutely great experience each and every time.

Keagan Goodman

I get to eat here a lot since I work nearby. I got to say the service is always fantastic and they keep the spot clean consistently. Rates are convenient and they serve large portions.

Samuel Rodriguez

Yum. I've tried several items here including the egg basket omelette and the prosciutto sandwich. Both are excellent. Their latte is one of the best compared to nearby coffee shops. Highly recommend! I will be back to try more items.

B Little

One of the best food gems of New York City.It was featured on many top cooking and restaurant shows on network TV World class and renowned chefs and pricy but you get every cents worth and it is pure elegance. You will not regret it I promise. Christmas is a special time here and they have bonus menu items and Valentine's day it is a gift to take your special someone.Great food and beautiful views from the dining area.

Nancy Stickler

Spectacular personal service with an unbeatable view. They will hold you to their dress code and be prepared to pay.

Hector Sanchez

One of the best stakes that i have tried in a long time. My friends showed me this restaurant and now it is one of my favorite places. The view from there is amazing. All of the food is really good and the customer service is great. The price is a bit high but still is worth it.

We had one of the best meals we have ever had at River Cafe today. The food was outstanding! A wonderful selection and pairing. Impeccable and attentive service. Beautiful setting right on the East River in Brooklyn overlooking lower Manhattan. Fabulous! The restaurant is very expensive. But worth it to us

Christine Gnieski

Gorgeous setting, amazing food, and extremely attentive service. A beautiful location for celebrating!

11/10 for location and ambiance Staff was super professional and friendly and service was top notch. And boy what a view, you’re seated right under one of the oldest architectural marvels of the New York City: The Brooklyn Bridge. You see the ships go by while enjoying the Manhattan skyline from under the bridge. Music choice was great and really soothing to the ears and it felt like I was on one of those really fancy cruise restaurants from the movie Titanic where Rose and the elite class travellers use to have their high tea while gossiping about the other elite families of United Kingdom. Food was really good too btw, would definitely go there again a million times. Perfect date spot

Kat Wczesniak

The food was very good, but the service horrible. We repeatedly asked for a table by the window, the staff insisted that the available table was already committed to someone else - it turned out it was someone who came after us. When we said we could wait longer to get the table that was important to us, he said we could move half way through, but despite of 3 tables becoming available, and ine staying empty for the entire meal time, he did not bother to move us. I guess you need to bribe him to have him heat what you say. It was our anniversary and we booked well in advance, so I am really disappointed about the way we have been treated. On top of that they added 18% tip to the bill without even asking us which after the way we were treated is just a robbery. Very unhappy with this experience.

Simone Collins

The River Cafe serves the best Christmas dinner anyone in our family has had, and we have been to some top drawer Christmas dinners at other NYC establishments. The team and service really stands out; the staff is uniquely accommodating, caring, polite, and also helpful with recommendations. The food is INCREDIBLE. Every single different appetizer and main was judged by our party to be world class and everyone thought they had out ordered everyone else. We will desperately try to have every Christmas dinner here going forward, but goodness knows it will be tough. I suppose we will have to settle for more routine visits.

sammy Woods

They dont like black people. Waiter asked us if we can afford our meal. Upon entering they asked if we were mistaken and looking for somewhere else. Yes we were dressed in accordance to the dress code. And yes we can afford it. Thanks for a bad experience and reminding us how much our color is hated.

Bryce Mccurley

I highly recommend the River Cafe to anyone who lives or is visiting the NYC area. I had a the most beautiful night with my now fiance, as I proposed outside in the garden area. Josh went above and beyond to make the night special and memorable. This was truly the greatest dining experience I have had. Thank you again, River Cafe!

Wonderful river and Manhattan views. Great food and service. Decor starting to appear a bit dated. Pricing a bit high.

I proposed in this restaurant 2 years ago, so romantic and the view is amazing ... the service was so good ...

Went to the river cafe for my partners birthday and it was amazing. The location was fantastic with brilliant views of Manhattan as well as being under the Brooklyn bridge. The staff were super attentive and the food was the best I have ever had. Dress code is strict so for men wear smart trousers, shirt, blazer and sensible shoes. It is pricey but for a memorable special experience would defo recommend

Daniel Montoya

Expensive, poor service don’t worth it

Kieran Roberts

The service was great and the atmosphere was amazing. I thought the food was average at best for the price. I had the strip steak and it was tough. Overall, not worth the price.

Javier Delgado Muerza

Gorgeous views, refined cuisine and good wine selection. A must in NYC

Jamshed Daher

Private, beautiful. The spot where Jennifer Lawrence got engaged.

The Jewelry Couple

My husband and I live in NYC and we frequently dine at nice restaurants here and all over the world. The food at The River Cafe is extremely mediocre. Not to mention that our waiter tonight and much of the staff had snooty attitudes. There are MUCH better restaurants in the city. You are paying for the beautiful view and that’s about it. I could’ve gotten better seafood at Whole Foods and cooked it myself. They drowned my shrimp in Hollandaise sauce which isn’t even a good match, not to mention that the sauce wasn’t even listed on the menu. The branzino came out cold with a cold side of zucchini. It was very disappointing. By the way, I have never spent time on reviewing anything in my life this is the first. How it has a one star Michelin blows my mind, I’m giving it a one star on Google.

Barry Lawlor

Amazing place.. great food and people

A NYC landmark. Private entrance as you pull your car onto cobblestone driveway, valet parking. You are surrounded by a mini botanical garden. Entrance to the restaurant which is build on a barge. The setting is very romantic. A bit crowded but not noisy at all. The selective menu does a sufficient job to fulfill the palate. Not a place to go if you're hungry. The service is excellent, wait staff is attentive and prompt. Do expect 2 plus hours dining experience. Make sure to walk outside to their private viewing area and take in the sight, smell and sound of NYC.

The River Cafe is beautiful. Staff was on point! Atmosphere to die for. The food was beautifully prepared, fresh and delicious! Treat yourself. Its worth every dollar!$$$$

Unparalleled views and a surprisingly great breakfast experience. I took my partner here for his birthday and the service and hospitality were outstanding, the view gorgeous, and the food delicious. The presentation was classic and phenomenal, but still with a touch of whimsy that kept it from feeling stuffy. They brought him a delicious little gourmand plate of mini desserts with a "Happy birthday" chocolate which was an amazing and thoughtful touch. Breakfast is in a glassed in veranda room or outdoors on the patio (we chose inside) and was utterly charming. I look forward to enjoying dinner in the dining room right on the river sometime very soon! New York is losing classic institutions, dear reader, and if you value what makes this city special I strongly encourage you to support institutions like the River Cafe with your hard-earned dollars, and keep the magic alive. A+++

Food was amazing, service was amazing, atmosphere and view on point. Only thing was the air conditioning is really high there so ladies make sure you have something to keep yourself warm!
