Pretty basic bar scene, has a decent amount of seating and an ok food menu. Everyone comes for the variety tator tots. I'd go with the Veggie quesidilla not as greasy and unhealthy.

Came to this place on the whim late night for food, and it was really good. The tots I have to say are the best thing on the menu! I got the gravy and mozzarella cheese ones, and they’re big enough to share with another person!

American retro is one of my favorite places to visit when I'm wandering around Manhattan. When I have friends and family visiting me from other states it's in my top 10 places to show. Not only are they very affordable the have some very impressive food. The retro burger is in itself a phenom. The only downside is that they are always short staffed. Most of the time the bar tender is tending bar and serving the floor. If you have a seat at the bar this is usually no problem but many times sitting at the tables I've found myself thirsty, even for a water. Besides that I have no complaints. The food definitely makes up for it.

THE BEST!!!! Great food, evolved atmosphere part sports & part dive that mixes plenty of regulars with guests from Daily Show, sports teams, who enjoy huge selection of beers at prices so low you forget your in Manhattan. Great owners who always get it right and sexy bartenders who are on top of their game. I almost forgot....THE BEST TATER TOTS EVER!!! Try em all!

really hit the spot new years day after spending the afternoon at Space down a block away. Excellent tots, wings, and burger. Bartender did great even though he was by himself. Friendly and attentive.

I really like the burgers some of my favorite in the area for the price... real meat and the tater tots also good with some of thier chipitle mayo... unfortunately gave it less stars because both times I went in person instead of order delivery the bartender was by herself and overwhelmed so the wait and the attitude were both pretty high... but the food is worth it so I still order delivery on a regular basis... Post script: My friend who was with me paid by card and he claims that the bartender added 10 dollars to the tip section... I would give the place less stars but I like the food too much... overall after a few visits in person at different times and different days i never really got good service... but delivery has always been good...

A surprisingly comfortable spot located on the avenue with some good food and drink options. I had the chicken tenders for a light dinner and they were superb. The bartender was friendly and helpful, and the other patrons seemed friendly folk from the neighborhood which was refreshing from some other places I've been. From this experience I definitely would return if I'm in the area, and would go so far as to make a trip to visit specifically.

This place has an awesome atmosphere, with great beers on tap, a ski ball machine, and tachos! (tator tots with nacho topping and somehow comes out looking classy, I KNOW RIGHT?) It's nice and spacious, a great place for a happy hour drink, or a way to spend your Saturday night!

Decent selection of beers and spirits. Cocktails are on the cheaper side but also in smaller quantities. Usually not busy and larger groups can be accommodated in the back room. Interesting variety of chicken wings - they are not kidding around the ones titled "Ass burners".

I'm from Los Angeles looking to move to NYC soon and every time I'm in town, I stop by this place. Bartenders are great to talk to, I'm always able to find a seat, and the food is good too. Those tater tots!! Only reason it's not 5 stars is cuz I'm still stuck on my west coast beer that they dont serve there. But they do deserve 5 stars

This place is a gem! On 11th ave, in a weird location, but inside it's spacious, relaxed, air conditioned, filled with lots of TV's that the bartender is willing to put on your favorite team. The bartender is nice, good selection of beers, cider, and the chardonnay is good. Got the pulled pork tater tots and, while not healthy, pretty delicious! This place is relaxing and chill. A nice refuge from the city's bustle.

Very casual, easy going place. Frequented by softball players from the nearby field. Cheaper than most places in the city, so if you're in the neighborhood, it's worth going to. They have the baseball channels, so you can get the out-of-town game on TV if you're nice to them.

OMG! Their BBW Pull Pork loaded Tots is freaking AWESOME!!! You don't need to have anything else with it other than your choice of drinks. The person serving me was super friendly and advised me that the BBQ Tots and sliders would be too much food. And he was right! I couldn't even finish half of it! If it wasn't for the fact I was going to a show after stopping here for bite to eat, I would have definitely taken the rest home with me, lol!

It's a cool place to gather your friends or watch some sports. The tunes are good. The staff do their best to look after you, but they have their days. The food is alright, it's bar food, so nothing really to rave over. Just a good, solid bar.

Went there with kids and, truth be told, I thought we would stand out as a family (it’s a pub after all). Well: not at all. The waitress was super nice and accommodating, the food was exactly as you would expect when you say “comfort food”, and the music (yep) was awesome (80s greatest hits including The Clash, The Cure and the likes). Definitely a good experience!

Great bar! Came here after a flag football game at Dewitt Clinton Park (3 blocks away). Very relaxed pub atmosphere. Bartenders are awesome/attentive, and the food (general pub fare) was really good. For a Thursday night (8:30-10:30) it never got too packed, and I love that in a bar. This place is a gem.

This was my second time visiting this location before a show at Terminal 5! Love it! The Tater Tot selection is amazing.. buffallo tots.. its like i died and went to yummy heaven.. the music is awesome.. and the atmosphere is super laid back and cool.. they had a big wheel on the wall i remember those! The staff is pretty cool too.. def stop by and have an Alabama slammer and some tots and chill !

Truly a retro bar where you can sit and drink with friends, and talk. Imagine that, talking at a bar! Whoddathunk? Everyone is friendly and the noise level is not absurd. The food is decent pub grub, there's a bunch of taps with usually 3-4 crafts and lots more in bottles, cocktails and so forth. The wings are superb, true buffalo wings- crispy, well cooked, and available in very very hot forms.

The bartender on my first visit was new but attentive and the food was good. ON my second visit Gus was the best bartender I had in the many places I visited through the city....A must stop for anyone looking for a fun time, great bar food.
