REVIEWS OF Rotisserie Georgette IN New York

Delicious.

Russell Schonekas

This wonderful, unpretentious French bistro was about as perfect as we could have hoped. Not only was the staff warm and welcoming when we made a late reservation, but their attentiveness after what must have been a long day could not have been more appreciated by these out of town guests. We will most certainly return and cannot recommend it highly enough.

Dima D-i

Best food in the world.

David Runyan

We had a gentleman in our party who had tinnitus and specifically asked for a quieter spot in the restaurant with our reservation. Instead we got the loudest spot in front near the glass doors and bar where everyone was noisily exiting and entering. It was an echo chamber and we were unable to converse. The chicken was excellent but meal was compromised by management's refusal to acknowledge one simple and reasonable request in advance.

Calling it rotisserie chicken doesnt do it justice. Its next level but the sides are pure perfection. Go

So so. Not a bad roasted chicken, but not worth the price. Mussels were OK but nothing special. Great ambiance though.

It was good not great for that price. I thought it was kind of rush atmosphere because the dish was coming out one after another and they were waiting to take my dish away.

We went on a Saturday night and the staff was phenomenally attentive. The food was beyond amazing and everything I could have hoped for in French cuisine. Come prepared to share dishes! The manager also gave us a complimentary dessert to finish our meal off which was a great personal touch. I will be coming here again!

I'm the type of person who prefers poultry over beef, so for me this restaurant is right up my alley. Their focus is chicken, and they do it well. You are best off getting their prefix half chicken, salad, and fries. Also get the carrot sides. You'll be happy.

Doug Anderson

We were disappointed as we were looking forward to a new and terrific restaurant in our neighborhood.........and I like rotisserie chicken. But the chicken was dry and I didn't like the way they cut it. Salads are fine, the room is nice, tables are comfortably spaced, staff is nice and the pricing's appropriate.......but we didn't like the chicken.

Located less than a block from our offices, we're slowly becoming regulars here. The chicken as you would expect is to die for, but don't pass on the gnocchi or duck. Get the baked potato as a side!

Before getting there I was a little skeptical based some of the online reviews but I have to confess I was genuinely pleased with the experience. To start it is an antiques decorated setup with no-clothe wooden tables. You are greeted at the door by Ms Georgette Farkas, the owner and namesake, what puts some charm in your dinning experience specially in NYC. The specialties are the rotisserie chickens with their special sauces on the side. We had a whole one with garlic and herbs de Provence that was roasted to perfection: moist and tender. Our table also ordered the whole roasted duck a l’Orange and, like the chicken it was perfect to the eyes, the nose and the palate. On sides the menu is not extensive but the carrots with grain mustard and maple syrup were a perfect combination. And to complete the evening we all shared a “tart tatin” that was ok but not the best I had in my life. Service was good with an attentive staff and the wine list varied and affordable Why not five stars? Well, one thing that I condemn in a restaurant is when they try to push things to you. In this case it was happening with the wine service to which waiters come to try to pour you more wine after each sip of your glass, and also the maître pushing for the “evening special”. I heard he mentioning it so many times, including in my way out, that I got full even without eating it. Unnecessary for such a great meal experience. I will be back and will recommend Rotisserie Georgette to my friends

Bom! Muito diferente para o paladar brasileiro! Ambiente agradável e excelente atendimento!

Not sure I can call this place cozy or romantic but it definitely has more of an eclectic decor but with a very good choice in music but pay no mind to this, you go here for an absolutely delicious meal. Me and my wife wanted to try the Canard a l'Orange but we were out of luck because they had run out of it, however the attentive waiter suggested we should go for the Pintade au Romarin, the rosemary guinea hen and he was quite right. The bird was succulent, moist and delicious with a nice crackling skin. Definitely recommend this if you visit this place. Now accompany this with the fries and the carrots, you need to get the carrots, because the carrots with maple and mustard are fantastic and you just wish they have you more. Now for dessert, I recommend the chocolate souffle with truffles and homemade vanilla ice cream because creamy chocolate goodness it just the best closer for your meal. All in all, it is a pricey place but worth it.

Bonne adresse, de bons ribs.

We had the duck a l'orange, potatoes, asparagus and haricots verts. Sommelier was helpful and enthusiastic, and her wine pairing was flawless. Everything was amazing, one of the best meals we've ever had. They were proactively attentive to multiple food allergies. Almost their entire menu is gluten free, and I did not feel like I missed out on any part of the total experience! The restaurant was quiet and we had a beautiful peaceful evening out.

Love this hidden gem just off Central Park and 5th Ave. Between 5th and Madison and up a few steps, you enter into what honestly feels like a lovely restaurant in the heart of France. Right down to the kind and always smiling owner herself - Georgette - who is almost always in and overseeing everything. Great bar with excellent and attentive bartenders. The food is always excellent. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend!

It's pricey but the quality of the food and drinks is with its weight in gold. If you really want to impress someone or just have an amazing fine dining experience, this is the place. Order the Savory Madelines you won't be disappointed.

The owner Georgette is a kind hearted loving person and is shown through in the food that is served in this classic French style restaurant. The chicken is the goto item on the menu i also highly recommend the potatoes.

My mother, my 7 year old daughter and I had a magical night tonight at this amazing French restaurant. It was our last night in NYC on our very first "girls trip." We were seated in the back booth near the open kitchen and after receiving our drinks, a woman came up and asked my daughter Audrey if she would like a tour of the kitchen. She was thrilled! We soon realized that this friendly, charismatic lady was Georgette! Not only was the food out of this world, but the experience was extremely special. We loved everything about it. Georgette came back after dinner, took my daughter back to the kitchen and taught her how to make the desserts we ordered. The Madeleines were the best. Rotisserie Georgette is very special. The sauces and vegetables that go along with the rotisseries are delicious and beautiful. It is an upscale restaurant in midtown Manhattan that is both kid friendly and absolutely delicious, a very rare combination. We loves our server and all the staff. No doubt 5 stars all the way. Thanks Georgette

This is my second time at Rotisserie Georgette and I really loved it. On this trip, we were at the Chef's Table and ordered the Poule de Luxe & Leg of Lamb Menu. The food was AMAZING and the service was impeccable. I highly recommend the private room here for any business dinner or special event.

A perfect french brasserie with old school cooking... a feeling to be in the 70’s with my gran’pa in Aveyron area in France... try the chicken with an Aurelien Chatagnier St Joseph Wine... and for sure it would be great! The sommelier and the owner are very nice and generous... the place is chic but not superficial... i loved it.

Fantastic food and service. The chicken was moist, tender and full of flavor. The steak was cooked perfectly and served with a great Bernese sauce. I enjoyed the sides that I ordered as well was the drink menu. I will be going back again. (November) I have been back a second time and had the same great dinning experience! (February).

Simply delicious French cuisine. The chicken is to die for.

Good environment inside but absolutely overrated. We were there during the restaurant week and ordered chicken and salmon for the main courses and both were tasteless, even unsalted, totally plain chicken and half cooked salmon. At least the corn soup and duck liver appetizers were fine. But if you are looking for a truly good French restaurant, this is not a place to go, you'll be disappointed, please go elsewhere and spend your money on better food.

Love this place! My friend Brad took me here. The food is delicious, we had the duck for our table. My favorite thing is the gnocchi. The service is elegant, everyone is very attentive and sophisticated. The setting is elegant. Georgette greets you herself. Their wine selection is great but our friend brought his own wine so we didn’t try any of theirs. We sat by the fire place. Really lovely romantic spot. And it’s by the park, go for a walk after.

Love this place. The chicken salad for lunch is the best

stoyan petkov

the chicken is very good, the problem is that is as good as the one you buy from your local big store- that is the $8 dollar whole ready baked chicken. The menu has about 5 or 6 items [differences of sauces-all baked the same]- sounds like a joke, maybe OK for a fast food joint. Other people like it, judging by the others comments and that the place was crowded. We had to wait for a while, but it was busy, so it is understandable. If you cannot visit the restaurant, visit your local store, in fact in our local store the chicken is slightly better [juicier], but I will skip the name, not to think this is a hidden ad. suggestion to the restaurant- maybe you should think starting to offer boiled eggs, say for $5 a piece.

Turn, turn the pulley on the very French rotisserie which also produces other meat and potatoes cooked in the juices that drip from above. Very busy so reservations are a must.

Ziad Iskandar

You get a quality food in a great decor. The chicken was very flavorful. I was disappointed to see that they were already cooked and did not see any chicken cooking on the rotisserie in the kitchen (see photo)

Delicious chicken and enjoyed the wine flight. Generous portions. Attractive space and efficient server.

One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had in my life and it happened with my family on Thanksgiving and my daughters 7th birthday as well. After making reservations nearly a month in advance for 4 adults and 3 children, and after repeated follow up phone calls from the restaurant inquiring about our reservation and status of our children (7, 5, 11months), we show up to our reservation, which was at 7:30PM, 25 minutes in advance (7:05PM). After waiting until well after 8:15PM for our table (45 minutes after our reservation), we were finally escorted to our table. The only problem was that there was no child's seat. When we asked about the seat, they stated they had no child's seat. So wait a second.. we were asked a number of times via phone calls about our children's ages, then literally stood by the bar in front of the front of house manager, and in the hour and fifteen minutes we stood there waiting, she wasn't intuitive or intelligent enough to mention they didn't have child seats? Thank you for ruining our entire Thanksgiving evening and my daughters 7th birthday. Since you've called us 3 times we're confident you have our telephone number if you want to get in touch with us. Wish I could rate this restaurant 0 stars but unfortunately 1 is the lowest, but this would be a Do Not Visit. Maybe the restaurant could also be more mindful about communicating the status of their stance on infants if they do not have the ability to serve them.

Absolutely scrumptious meal. Gorgeous local place!

(Translated by Google) Both of them are not good at English, so they managed to order roasted duck, salad, and potato rosemary while complimenting the menu. The duck roast was delicious along with the rich orange sauce, but it was surprisingly fat to take, so it was difficult for two people to take home (laughs) Service is good, but unfamiliar with handling tongs alone? I was nervous when I was serving because there were some people, but there was sincerity. It was a nice restaurant with a good atmosphere

This is a cozy relaxed atmosphere for the upper east side. Each dish was pretty good , blood orange endive or foie gras and whole roasted chicken and also the attentiveness of the staff. I walked away with my appreciation to the staff and my love for their dessert "tarte tatin for two" - it was a classic and made beautifully with homemade crème fraîche. I'd say this is a nice UES neighborhood spot

I love this resturant! The pope was in town and so was the Trump invitational horse show. My husband has a bad French dinner the night before and I love a challenge. Found this place on google and called to make sure we could show up at 10pm post Pope and horse show in jeans and sneakers. No problem! It was exactly what we were looking for! Until the day we die my family will eat here every time we are in NYC. Family style poultry with French seasoning. Great veggies and don’t you dare leave without their soufflé. If you like a little cocktail ask for their signature French 75.

Divinely good and wonderful atmosphere!

(Translated by Google) Very good, nice place and quality service. Excellent cuisine, delicious duck with orange. (Original) Très bien, lieu agréable et service de qualité. Cuisine excellente, le canard à l'orange délicieux.

Waiter consistently served me last and ignored me when asking who would like the liver served with chicken. Love this place, but just seemed to be an off night. Duck was great, but chicken and ribs were overdone.

Ellen Meza

Amazing food, decent service.

Wontae Kim

Really expensive rotisserie chicken. The foie gras in the chicken was a nice touch but the chicken was overall a bit dry. Considering that you go there for the chicken you would expect it to be juicy and moist. The steak was just plain bad. Nice ambiance though.

Michael Alessandro Contarini Procino

Be warned that having the chicken here will ruin you for any rotisserie chicken you have anywhere else. All of the food is amazing, but the chicken is what made them famous.

The food was great and the atmosphere was pretty classy. You can't go won't with the rotisserie chicken, I had mine au poivre which I'd definitely recommend. It's a bit pricey though the quality makes up for it

The best chicken taste ever. Everytime I come to NY I can't wait to go.

Pauline DeMairo

I went for lunch and ordered spareribs which were overcooked and had a too sweet sauce on them. The salad was very good but there wasn't much of it. I did like ceci flour croquettes as a side. I asked to bring a whole duck home but the server said they only serve them at night. Then he said he adked the Chef and I could have one to go. That night at dinner, the duck lacked freshness and was disappointing. The service and atmosphere were excellent.

Brad Farkas

Wonderful place for an intimate and tasty meal. Ambiance is great either for a romantic date or a quiet business lunch, and the food was yummy. The chicken was delectable, as one would expect, but the fish and salad were unexpectedly good (especially the Salad G). Great desserts too!

Patricia Mora

I felt insulted by the prices, half rotisserie chicken for USD 26 with no sides. They sell half bottles of wine between 50USD and 140USD. In comparable restaurants in Manhattan you are able to enjoy a good bottle of wine with your dinner on the same range of prices.

Melissa Mark-Viverito

Amazing French fare. They even had the classic French mustard - rather difficult to find the real deal. Interestingly the carrot side was fantastic. A must have! Great Romantic ambiance but not stuffy. Danna was in pure romance mode with chicken gravy as a plus.

Great food and great ambiance. In addition to the chicken, the ribs are also very good. We also got a side of carrots that were roasted perfectly. Lastly, we got fries that were your standard fair. You would be better off trying the other potato options.

Really great food. Catslin the Manager made me and my date feel really welcome. The food was out of this world and the service was top notch!

I had a chicken that tested like the one i ordered with my gran pa in french Aveyron in the 70’s, with a true flavor of rotisserie... such a rare experience including in France. I loved the side, the bread and i picked up a st joseph wine from Aurelien Chatagnier... you have to come here... for an authentic french brasserie experience with top fresh products perfectly cooked! The sommelier and the owner are french speaking and generous. They gave us a perfect experience!

Amazing food!!

Jeff Yablon

Let's be clear about one thing: if you come for anything but chicken you'll need a friend who wants the same thing as you do; everything else... Even the deluxe chicken... Is for two. That's OK; I had foie gras and duck with a buddy and we both thought each was the best we'd ever had, and everyone else in our party ate chicken and raved. Georgette stopped by the table and chatted for a good few minutes. The service was very attentive... Maybe a bit too much so, but A+ for effort, right? And while it was far from inexpensive, on the "one more $200 Manhattan dinner ” scale, Rotisserie Georgette ... Isn't that at all. Very highly recommended.

Anna M. Viducic

Matthew is amazing! So is the food

Duck was good. Sangria was also good. A little pricy. Nice ambiance.

Do you like rotisserie chicken? If so, prepare to have some of the best you can find. The birds are juicy and tender and, although the restaurant claims to offer much more than "just" chicken, this is really the star, along with its delicious rotisserie potatoes. Other main courses are perfectly well executed but nothing special, and the other sides are nothing about which to write home. Salads are quite nice, and the taste Tatin is delicious in its simplicity. Tip: each chicken comes in a variety of preparations and with a choice of sauces (though the birds themselves are all roasted in the same manner, not actually in the sauces). Go for the simple versions, which I have found outdo the "fancier" options. Same goes for the sides. Started by a Boulud alum who really knows what she is doing when it comes to the hospitality side of things, you will not be left wanting for attentive yet efficient service. An excellent option for very well executed, if not exactly adventurous, classics in lively and pleasant surroundings. A quick note on my rating scale: 5 stars = exceptional food & service; 4 stars = excellent food & service; 3 stars = decent to good (top-of-the-line for fast service restaurants); 2 stars = mediocre; 1 star = not recommended.

Siobhan Crowley

Expensive over pretentious and too much oil
