An excellent local French restaurant, if your locality is Midtown East. I'm happy to report that "presentation " is still the norm here. Don't miss the desserts, they're worth photographing.

Sara

Nothing “French” about this dinner (in menu and decor). unremarkable food; an omelette as plain as they come, salad excessively salty, awful bloody mary (served with soda, sweet.) Seems liked by the neighboring senior residents, but I can’t fathom how it got such high ratings.

Stefania Wilcox

Great pre-fix menu. The food was delicious, the service was excellent. Highly recommend.

Old style French restaurant with all the classic bistro food. I had the fish nicoise that was very good but the apple pie was even better. The 3 course lunch is a great deal for New York.

Brunch Prix Fixe Review: Food: 4/4 Drink: 3/4 Ambiance: 2/4 Service: 3/4 Value: 4/4 Summary: Although I had my reservations entering the restaurant (it looked a tad old…), Paname proved to be a delicious brunch experience with amazing financial value - $26 for 3 courses and a glass of sparkling wine / mimosa. A neighborhood institution that has regular patrons, it’s a must for anyone in the area looking for a French afternoon. Would I come back? Yes! Food: Delicious and lots of it! My three courses included the Pate Maison, the Pork Scaloppini, and the Apple Tarte. All were delicious and large portioned. I couldn’t finish everything! Drink: I had a mimosa, which was satisfying, nothing to write home about. Ambience: The restaurant on the outside looks a little tired, but once you enter you get the feeling you are in a neighborhood restaurant. Nothing sceney about it, but it’s well-appointed and taken care of. Service: Service was quick, and food came out in sufficient time. Our waitress gave some recommendations and checked on us regularly. Value: $26 for 3 courses and a glass of sparkling wine / mimosa. Not bad at all!

I had an amazing experience at Paname! I recommend selecting the three course meal option from the menu, which appeared to offer a variety of appetizers, entrees and desserts, for most every palette/diet. The service was high quality - dishes were prepared perfectly and presented with unique style; the server was friendly and attentive to all of her tables and treated each guest as a VIP. I especially adored the unexpected items that came out as compliments of the house. When I visit NYC again, I'll be sure to return with more patrons.

My wife and I ate at Panama for the first time last night and had a terrific experience. Great service, very, very good food- at a reasonable price - and wonderful French music in the background to boot. We will surely return.

Just ok. Burger over cooked. Steak tough. Crab cakes so-so, lots of stuffing, fries not crispy Bloody Mary not flavorful No onion soup?? Table not cleaned up after meal Creek brûlée gelatinous. Escargot not traditional

Paname Restaurant is a frequent favorite of ours in Midtown East. Chef Bernard brings a piece of Paris to NYC in this cute Brasserie / Bistro setting featuring delicate, tasty fish, great steaks, decadent duck - artfully presented, healthy cooking, this is a nouvelle take on classic French cuisine. The desserts are not to be missed!

Good food moderately priced great staff

Full disclosure: I stopped in only for desert. I was told by a friend they have great deserts, so I popped in for a quick sweet treat. Since it is a French restaurant I ordered the crepe desert. It was inedible - three soggy, tough and chewy crepes, so I returned it. (I was not charged for it and they were sincerely apologetic.) I then chose the sorbet desert and it was wonderful, including presentation-wise. Service with a smile by polite and agreeable staff.

This restaurant was such a pleasant find. The presentation is gorgeous, the food is good, the portions are good, and they have a surprisingly large selection for their fix price menu. The desert isn't quite what I'd expect from a French restaurant not I it was good regardless. The service was also just perfect. It's just the relaxing homey atmosphere I like in a restaurant. I can't wait to try their brunch.

Paname is a beautiful charming restaurant that serves fantastic French food that competes with the best restaurants in the City. Bernard, the affable owner and experienced master chef, takes his honed food craft to the highest levels of cooking. He also treats every customer like a VIP, feting us with his knowledge of French cuisine and culture. It is a great pleasure to dine here, and the perfect place for an overall stellar dining experience. I've eaten here often with my wife, family, friends, and business associates, and it has always been outstanding. Truly, it is one of the best restaurants in the City.

One might think of French cuisine as refined. Not really what I was served. Ordered escargot, beet "salad", oven roasted duck, and flourless chocolate cake. Escargot was fine, served on small potatoes, it tasted pretty good. The salad consisted of cubed beets with a dollop of some creamy cheese. As for the duck, perhaps it was my fault for assuming it to be a lovely medium cooked duck breast; it looked like a half fried chicken cut in two pieces. Chicken would have been better. Dessert was very rich, but satisfying. Overall, not to my taste, and imo, not worth the price tag. Service and atmosphere were pleasant.

Great mid-range price French cuisine in Midtown Manhattan!

Damir Pozderac

Horrible, horrible, horrible. Aweful greasy, over salted food that I am still struggling to hold down after 4 hours. Service reflects the food. The waitress seemed to be first time at the job and had to check with manager for even basic questions. We paid prix fix menue and were not given the desert that we paid for.
