Very nice...but expensive!

Serving FAKE Kobe Beef - See the Inside Edition. Don't waste your time and money with these scammers

Bob Nicomini

Not as good as usual. Hoping it was just an off night.

Amanda Cosentino

One of the best steak houses in Manhattan in my opinion. The old school feel of a classic steakhouse with superb service with updated menus and drink lists. Whether your looking for a steak, a juicy kobe beef burger or oysters the Old Homestead never disappoints.

Robert Barnes

Came for a large bachelor dinner in a cozy private room upstairs and had one of the better steaks I can remember. Some folks in our party had beef that was objectively overcooked relative to their order, which was a surprise, but I'm not sure if that was a product of trying to get 15 steaks ready at the same time.

Dave K

I went back to the Old Homestead with a friend from Europe. Once again, the food and the service were top notch. I started with a delicious crab cake, followed by an 18 ounce filet mignon that was cooked perfectly, totally delectable, and I actually polished off the whole thing. To finish, I had their delicious cheesecake, which is served with a variety of berries. While pricey, the food is absolutely worth it

Rodney Ibrahim

Always love coming here. It has that nostalgic old boys club feel to it. Sat upstairs in the private room and service was great. Had the ribeye and lobster tails but the tails were a little dry. Of course I'll be back

Leo Grimaldi

Great food. Moscow mule was delicious

Kevin Mooney

The food was very good, service was also excellent, would definitely recommend.

Robert Czarneski

Excellent service and atmosphere... Our waiter was outstanding.. I will be comparing #OldHomesteadsteakhouse to all other steak houses. They will be HARD to beat...

Ryan Murphy

Up there with the best steak houses I have visited.

Eugene Aranovich

Great, attentive service. Meat is out of this world. My family and I have enjoyed our lunch there immensely.

황한국

Taste of steak is not bad. Normal. But even though their steak is over 50, they can't control degree of meat. I ordered medium rare, but i got a almost over medium. And other problem is attitude of staff. When you charge, staffs start to talk about our tips. And they evaluate your tip. I couldn't believe it. They will talk about that just next to you. Thank you. Never again, actually it is not reasonable price. You should pay around 70. It is almost minimum price.

Hailey Keen

Food is great, but cocktails like the Moscow Mule need improvement.

FRANK MILLIN

Everything about this restaurant is perfect. Please visit.. your taste buds will thank you every time your memory takes You there. "indeed".

Ric Wasserrman

I was there on Thursday of this week and had a miserable experience. My "Medium Rare" bone-in filet came out all brown/gray around the edges and next to the bone. Only the dead center was Med-rare. Waiter had no interest in my point of view much less making it right. Twice said he would send the manager over but the manager never came. When I asked him why he hadn't sent him over the waiter said that "He told him I wasn't happy with the steak." I can only guess the manager didn't really care. I have eaten at this particular OH at least 5 times and the one in Vegas 3 times and always found the steak excellent. But since they had no interest in talking to me or making it right, I'm done with OH.

Aleks Rich

Air conditioners were not working, extremely hot inside. The white wine was weirdly warm, and the red wine was hot. Baked potato was rotten. Garlic sauce was rancid, and the price of the meat was too expensive for the quality given.

Young-Eun Jun

I’m asian but I never feel welcome from them. They Do Not care you if u re especially asian. They don’t even give knife to us when they re serving steak. Taste is very normal though it s very overprice. when we complained service to manager about (NO refill water, taste, horrible manner to us) . manager said “no problem” and he throw out the tip. Keans steak is much better than here. Never wanna go back.

Rafael Kaufmann

This place is all about the superlatives: the oldest. The largest (steak, potatoes...). The highest quality (40-day dry aged, A5+ Wagyu...). The priciest ($120 buys you steak for two, no sides). Worth it, if you know that you're getting yourself into.

Tonya Gray

We had a group of 6. Great service! I had an amazing filet. Right across from Chelsea Market. Perfect location.

Cassie Pierce

Andy took amazing care of us! Originally, we were unhappy with the bone in rib steak and once we brought it to his attention, he was quick to fix the problem! He recommended a different steak that was perfect! His suggestions and kindness were not forgotten! Thanks again Andy!

kitty kat beauty

The best steak in NYC!

Jason Oh

decent quality but definately theres better options within that price range at Peter Lugers Keens Wolfgangs etc

Milza Dela costa

Love the tender of the meat and the flavor very tasty.

Raymond Gordon

Excellent steaks, and good food, gotta have the lobster mac & cheese as well as the thick cut bacon as an appetizer. great service and overall had a good experience, very nice ambiance.

Petey D

Amazing steaks. The Japanese Wagyu is hands down the tastiest meat I’ve ever had. If you drink red wine and like fatty tender meat like lamb chops beef short ribs prime rib etc, you will LOVE this. It’s very expensive, but you get what you pay for. My buddy had a sirloin that you didn’t need a knife to cut, it was also delicious, tender and cooked perfectly. They’ve been there over a hundred years , I think they got the steak game down pretty good. GO and treat yourself to the Wagyu......you’ll be glad you did.

Javier Lobillo Vilela

Excellent food and place. Excessive prices for what really is.

Robin Park

관광객 아니고 현지인인데도 한국어쓰니까 영수증에 팁 자동으로 20% charge하네요 ^^;; Quality - steak is amazing. It melts on your tongue and is not excessively seasoned. Service - very friendly, attentive, professional. However, they charged 20% service charge on our cards without telling us even though we were locals and not tourists - simply because we were speaking a foreign language at the table to host a couple tourist friends. Price - one appetizer (fried calamari), two side dishes (sautéed mushroom $12 + fries $14), and prime steak for two $120. Portions were more than enough for our party of 3. In total, our bill came out to be $188. With automatic 20% tip, it was $220, which they took out of our credit cards without informing us

Michael Valic

The Old Homestead never disappoints. Every cut off steak here is phenomenal, the sides are fantastic, and I always had a full glass of beer. Old Homestead always does a great job of taking care of medium to large groups.

Mitch Ramirez

Food was a 5, service was a 1.

Tania Manco

Great service, good food. Should pay attention to the details, fountain coke wasn't gassy (changed it as soon as we told them) and basil for decoration was old and black. Recommend for nice meal

Richard

I really wanted to love this Restaurant as a friend brought us here for the first time. unfortunately the service did not match the exorbitant prices. Having to ask for things, like cream for my coffee and bread for the table was bad enough, but feeling like the staff was inconvenienced to do so was off putting. the food was certainly fine, the work trying to even get a smile from any of the staff was not. maybe we had a bad night? Service was simply ultra ordinary at best.

Robert Sawh

Very good! Crab cake was amazing.

Ari K

We had an amazing time in this place. We liked the wonderful vibes and the food. The waiters are very attentive. I’m content we finally decided to visit this spot.

Norbert Shtaynberg

Went there with my wife and kids for dinner last Sunday. We did not have reservations and were seated promptly which was great. The menu is tailored appropriate to this place. If you love steak there is nothing that you cannot find there that you need. The appetizers came out fast and were fresh. They do charge you for bread. They did forget my soup which I did not say anything to see how attentive the waiter was and have to say not so much. The main course was great. We had the rib eye and NY sirloin which was made to the correct medium as we ordered. The sides had great flavor with the lobster mac and cheese stealing the day. As before this place has not let me down.

Jhon Travoltingos

Mafia and movie look restaurant. Good service, excellent food.

tyuiopp74

It's an old history steakhouse in NY. I love their atmosphere and style. I put high expectations on their steak but as so good as I think. It's good but not achieve" amazing" level.

Lewis Ayers

Had the shrimp, Ceaser salad and kobi burger. The salad was huge and very good. The 20 ounce burger was fantastic. The shrimp were priced per shrimp and were good.

joseph kaye

Great food bring money You will get value worth

James Lee

A complete old school experience with one of the best steaks I've had , try the carpaccio it is amazing!

Merc Comm

The place is great I've been going for 20 years. Great prime rib, filet mignon and rib-eyes. The giant shrimp is great. I can't wait to go back.

Matt Curran

Old school steak house. Great food and drinks.

Midori Sigeti

Great atmosphere and food. We'll definitely go back.

Paul Morganstern

Good food & service prices are high ....

Ermanno Baldelli

Going to chelsea market had a look to this restaurant and want inside but never choice was so bad!!Costs unbelievable high!!!i am italian but it is not possible ask for 2 bottle of water selfdone (any mark was written on the bottles)15 dollars!!!! .I took only one normal hamburg and mai e 45 dollars!!! Never more!!At this price i go in better restaurant

Adam Bolwell

First tried Old Homestead when I visited NYC in 2013, I was told to try the truffle mac & cheese and the filet, for 7 years i've been thinking about that meal and how good it was. I finally got the chance to back last week when we took another trip to NYC from the UK and damn if it wasn't as good as i remember. The steak was cooked to perfection, and melted in the mouth, the mac and cheese was creamy, cheesy and so good. My only complaint might be that the fries were a bit plain. I'm sure i'll be coming back to the NYC at some point in the future, and i'll definately be coming back for a 3rd visit.

Brianne Shaw

Amazing steaks at a great price ! Went here for my anniversary dinner. We were not disappointed by the portions !!

Jim Hawley

I love old homestead.

D C

We just had dinner there with family. My NY sirloin was bad. I didn't get sick but it had the weirdest taste that I ever had. Someone else at the table confirmed. This should not happen in a restaurant of this caliber. The vegetable sides were ok. Just OK. Cheesecake and chocolate cake were good. We like to have a nice steak dinner whenever we travel, but this place does not even come close to The Capital Grille, or Ruths Chris. Sorry.

Nic Garcia

amazing steak. haven’t tried the massive burgers but they look great. they brought the garlic bread tower to my table by accident and i couldn’t have been more pleased about it.

Si Aydiner

Steak was tough, dinner rolls tougher.

_batekken _

Service was great. Food was amazing. A bit pricey but what steakhouse isn't. Definitely recommend

Chris Payne

The food and bar service was excellent!!

Mike Favetta

Meh. Overpriced for so-so quality.

Henry Crinkle

Not sure if the host thinks hes running a steakhouse or a culinary hotspot. His awfully brylcreem hair and garish shirt complimented his arrogant attitude perfectly. When your restaurant is that empty on a friday night you should think twice about turning paying customers away at the door.

Itai Leshniak

Over priced with no justification. If you like over paying for average food that's the place. Food was just OK +

Brand Elverston

Very nice. Great menu from which to chose a range of options. Not crazy expensive.

Anthony Gorman

Burgers we're good but staff was not welcoming.

Mighty Thor

High quality steak served here. Not too expensive for the quality you get. Good service and comprehensive wine list. Very crowded and reservation is a must here. Located very close to the famous Chelsea market in NYC. If you visit NYC and wants to have a good steak meal then I would recommend this restaurant.

Kathy Deegan

This time the Gothic rib steak was tough in every direction at 6pm on a Tuesday. It can happen sometimes. Not to worry.. The last 5-6 times it was always perfection

Kevin Zheng

It was a very good steak and is not too expensive. The sides/appetizers are pretty good as well.

Noam Schiller

Great choice. Wonderful steaks burgers and salads.

Louis Howes

Our waiter, Sarko, was awesome! Super attentive, funny, and quick. We ordered a wide variety of items: East coast oysters which were just delicious along with Raw Clams, Baked Clams and shrimp. I also had a fish entree, so I can’t say much about the steak, but the seafood is incredible. Chocolate cake dessert was to die for. Definitely will be back soon.

David McMurtrie

Steaks are great but give the burgers a try as well, they are excellent

Anna Correa

I had a good experience here, the prices are a little crazy even for NYC (every steak was over $40). The burger was top notch and the service was okay. I went with two colleagues from work on a Thursday night at 6:15. We got in with no issues and were sat immediately. I had the 16oz peppered slab burger for $29 cooked Medium. I have to be honest. I loved this burger; it was cooked perfectly, it had the right amount of fat to meat, and the meat was salted correctly. The bun was toasted perfectly as well! My main complaint was the way that the waitstaff spoke. I was with colleagues (a table of 2 women and one man) and one of our waiters was very misogynistic. He made so many comments about women that were past borderline, from comments about appearance to comments about his virility. I was super uncomfortable.

Tom Swider

One of my favorites. If you love Steak this has to be in your list.

Yuxiang Li

The place is a bit overpriced. The steak was not bad, but not great either.

Seba Alghamdi

extremely overrated! food, service, everything. the restaurant might have been something in the past but it looks like they’re too confident to care for new customers. i will never follow blogs recommendations again

WACKO1123

Great old fashioned steak house

Paulina Turska

The best steak I ate so far!!! I’m satisfied! Service was perfect!

Edward Maddalena

I don't know where Old Homestead went wrong. Everything seems like it should be in place for a wonderful night and a great meal, but throughout it all they just miss the mark over and over. Walking in and seeing the old wood paneling and Chicago steakhouse ambiance, you'd expect a professional competence. After being seated, the waiter brusquely cleared away a seating that was against the wall, as one of us chose to sit opposite that. One snide comment and we were off to the races. After what seemed like an eternity, we finally got menus and had the waiter disappear again. Finally after finding the waiter we placed our order, a Gotham Steak for 3 people to split, ordered medium. We explicitly confirmed that ordering the steak medium would have some pink in the middle but no red. After a short wait, we got our steak plopped on the table and our waiter started to walk away leaving us with an uncut steak and no knives at all. Flagging the waiter again we got him to cut into our slice of meat, and maybe it would have been better if it stayed intact. Inside where we expected a nice touch of pink was dull overdone gray, similar in color to the clouds that had been growing over the meal the entire time. Overall the meat was way too burnt on the outside and generally overcooked on the inside. Perhaps the only bright side of the meal was the garlic bread with Parmesan cheese sauce we ordered as an appetizer.

Erick Sikkenga

Excellent Ribeye steak!

Heather Hines

The food was delicious, the staff friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was very nice. We had tempura shrimp, 10 oz filet & steak au poivre, garlic mashed potatoes and an ice cream sundae. The steaks were cooked perfectly and all dishes were served promptly. Our only complaint was that the dark & stormy was not very good, but we've found most bartenders don't make them well and it wasn't on the menu so that was probably our fault. Will definitely be back!

Claus Venø

Very nice steaks, so tender.

Rosalia Rydz

Appetizers and lobster mac & cheese was delicious as always my prime rib with bone in was not good at all.

BONGTAE LEE

Steak was good but not really great though. Service was good but also not great! Air-conditioner failed at that day and it was super hot inside. If I were the Restaurant owner I would have given guests some refreshments for free. Side dishes were OK. Usually I visit only those Restaurants that have high ratings so that my ratings are also high. But for this Steakhouse I am sorry but can give only a 2 star. Nothing was really special here.

Aly Poonja

Great options for steaks. Service is also very good.

Kevin Murphy

Best steakhouse in NYC.

Joe P

Order the Kobe beef burger (medium) came out perfectly cooked. Was delicious and totally worth the $43 price tag. Every bite would melt in your mouth wit tons of flavor. Definitely a must visit place in all of NYC for the great tasting beef burger! One of the best I have ever had!

Katherine M

Had a longtime, unhappy, pretentious server who started the late afternoon off poorly. He made it clear that he is a miserable person. Ordered the Wagyu, worst dinner ever experienced. Poor taste, texture and appearance. Won't be returning.

Clyde Jas

CAN'T GO WRONG. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Murray Cox

Noisy and overpriced.got a ribeye that was properly cooked and seasoned. There was however a large group of 8 celebrating a birthday that were quite drunk and made the experience unpleasant.

Melvin Gershak

EXCELLANT FOOD AND SERVICE

Steve C 032

This place has been at this location long before I was born. It was here when the entire neighborhood really was the Meatpacking District. I've brought friends here when they're in town visiting and most of the time, we've lucked-out with good service. There have been a few times where the service wasn't great, but at least the food is really good. But, most of the times I've been, the service has been good. This may sound lame, but the bread is really good. Recently, we shared a Two Prime Day Dry Aged Rib Steak for Two. It was so good and humongous! I've the Peppered Bacon Burger. I'm not a burger type person, but this one was really good.

jerseyboy32 n

Great food..nyc prices

Anton Revich

Great staff, private room upstairs great for a party for 20.

Vlad Andrei

Excellent steak. Prices from 46 dolars

Marco Brato

Love the tender of the meat.

Laurent Le Brun

The Kobe beef burger was very expensive, but not so great. Other dishes might be better choices. I paid $70 for the burger and a beer. Atmosphere is nice though.

Marcelo Carpovich

Lovely old place. Service was average, lobster roll not great. May be ill try again.

Jordan Parcell

Honestly, this review would be zero stars if possible; the one redeeming star is due solely to the nice female bartender working 2/13. In short, for the "oldest steakhouse in New York" and at the price point one will spend (given the cheapest cut was approaching $50) the service was utterly nonexistent. Execution and steps of service were incredibly poor. We made our reservation in November 18' for February 19' for a special and long-planned trip to NYC. Homestead lost this reservation and we only found this out when WE called THEM to confirm the day of. When we arrive and check in, we are promptly seated and given water/menus after a brusque greeting by a server who wasn't to be seen again until he asked us to move tables to accommodate another party (another missed reservation issue??). After waiting entirely too long, a different server entirely skips over any questions about the menu, greeting, anything, opting just to ask if we were ready. We get out two glasses of wine which make their way to the table. At this point, we have mentally laid out a sizeable purchase for dinner (trying to try a variety of things for this FIRST TIME VISIT) but have had negligible interaction from the staff. To have about 16-20 tables on the main floor and 6 or more servers in the area but this type of (non)service, this is absolutely inexcusable and sloppy at best. So we take our glasses of wine to the bar to sort it out. A gentleman who I assume was the manager attempted some damage control by bringing menus and apologizing our questions hadn't been answered, etc. This fell incredibly flat and short when he couldn't speak to the evening's offerings confidently. Eventually he comped the two glasses of wine we had (but only after we had paid for them). Ultimately, I stepped outside Homestead to call Del Frisco's where we went and had the most beautiful and perfectly executed dinner imaginable, spending nearly $700. Lost tips, revenue, and attribution to Homestead- the oldest steakhouse in New York that might need to find the newest approach to service at this expected caliber.

Edward Nunez

The food was exquisite, beautifully presented as it was tastefully devine. The service was superb and top notch, definitely worth the money.

Josh Quack

Ordered Kobe beef here and totally regretted it. As someone who lives in Queens and only makes $8 an hour, the $350 steak was not a good purchase. I literally spent DAYS working to get this money, and the steak was chewy. Didn't seem like it was all it was hyped up to be

Cindy Paton

favorite steak house in NYC. always perfectly cooked steak, great service, and good drinks

ROBERT ADORNO

Food was excellent, service was good.

Brittany Zimmerman

My boyfriend loved this place so he decided to take me when we went to NY last. Well I wasn't impressed with the food. We've been to a lot of nice steakhouses and this one didn't stand out to me at all. My Filet cut was mediocre and it didn't taste that great. Even my sides were very salty. The atmosphere is comfortable though and the staff is attentive.

jon Neace

So good, great atmosphere, cool bar

Jason Maguire

Definitely Above average. I was recommended to this restaurant by a few locals in manhattan. A bit pricey, but worth it.

Ricardo Wallach

Kobe steaks and burgers. Very polite. Expensive but it's worth

Elliot Nieva

The kobe beef burger isnt actual kobe beef. The owner is deceiving u never come here.

Wascar DELEON

Great steaks my friend ordered the Filet mignon which came out great. And i took advantage of their 26$ lunch special that came with a Rib Eye (which was cooked properly and seasoned very well. The steak was very tender and easy to cut) it also came with mashed potatos that were incredibly soft. Great food and our waiter George was very attentive. Definitely up to par to Wolfgangs and other mayor steakhouses.

Jihad Abi Haydar

The Steakhouse has one of the best steaks i have ever tasted in my life. I went with a couple of friends who share the same opinion about the place. We ordered well done and medium rare steaks, they were both exquisite along with sauces Actually and to be frank, we bumped into this restaurent by mistake while heading to another place in the neighborhood. Luckily it was overbooked. Old Homestead Steakhouse is recommeded big time.

Susan Schindler

Superior steaks and prime rib; large choice of side dishes. Reservations are a must, and you should arrive early because they no longer offer valet parking so you will have to find a garage or street parking. Be prepared to spend about $300 on dinner for two at this NYC icon.

Hanna Edwards

The burger is enormous and good onion rings too. I wish they had single portion salads so I didn't have to choose between meat or veg. Everything is a la carte there.

Noel Sheeran

The food was good, not great. Very pricey for the quality and the general appearance was a bit tatty. The biggest issue was the attitude of the staff, they all seemed to be very superior and aloof. This is kind of odd based on the industry they are in. They may be the oldest steak house in town but this is no excuse to have attitudes like that. Disappointed as we were looking forward to it, 7 or us ate and it was close to $800!!!!!! Without service, when you put your hand in your pocket for that amount you expect quality, food and great service. Sadly we experienced neither!! There are plenty of other great steak houses in NYC I would stick to those.

AI Wang

Service is really bad if you don't order much food.

Bruce Levin

Great meal, outstanding service, wonderful atmosphere. Do you want a truly old school steakhouse in Manhattan? Then this is the place located in one of the most vibrant parts of the City (but they've been there long before any of that happened).

What_Marc_Eats

Best Steakhouse for the money that I know. Amazing prime rib is perfect every time.

George Fleming

Everything was excellent, the servings were fine.

Jihoon Kim

A good spot for having steaks at lunch time

Emil Stefanov

I heard about this place from a boyfriend of a friend of mine, but never actually went. This time my date was choosing the location, so we decided to give it a try. When we walked in, we were greeted by the manager, Silvya, and that lady has a very good sense of how to evaluate a situation. The service was excellent and I we decided to go back there soon. NY has many restaurants that have great food, what makes a difference is the service they provide, and how customers are treated. We both left very happy, and I recommend this place for everyone who loves great service, and even better steaks selection.

Rick Raj

The steak. The wine.the cheesecake. ABSOLUTELY delicious.!!!

Kristen Wang

The environment and service is fine. The food is not so much. Wouldn’t go back again.

Arno Huhn

Cetrainly the worst service experience in NYC. Unfriendly welcome through waiter, 45 min waiting time for steaks on a early afternoon week day, clear statement through waiter that tip was not included in bill. Food was good but service a disaster.

Ariel Rodriguez

Great food, fantastic service, lunch special are great value.

Jiaren Li

Fancy high end place that upholds expectations at least for my party. Came here for birthday dinner with a crowd and reservation for 9 and, honestly, got exactly what I expected nothing more and nothing less. Food was delicious and honestly a bit cheaper than what I thought the cost would be. Staff were helpful both at the bar and at the table. The environment is enjoyable. I wouldn't personally eat here very often (after all got treated to here) but, if a high end steakhouse is what you're looking for, you'll find a nice one here

Greg G.

Food was great and the service was great too. But...I saw the waiter preparing a doggy bag for one of the customers and he took his bare hand and slid the rest of the remaining food on the fork into the container. I ☹

ach tric

the lunch special was great but just one thing with my drink , I saw something in it. I told the waiter and gave me a slice of cheeze cake , but other than that , the food, ambiance and service was great.

Richard Sonnick

Service was nice but food was terrible. I ordered first prime rib steak medium well but I got medium-rare and I couldn't cut the steak with knife. Waiter asked if I wanted something else instead and I ordered lobster roll. To my surprise it contained shells and I almost broke my teeth. I was here before and food was good but I don't think I will be back agsin. Wait stuff was very attentive....

Karalyne Ley

The positives: the food was really good. Steak was cooked perfectly and the sides were yummy. However, the overwhelming disappointing theme of our dinner was the service and vibe of some of the staff. We didn’t feel welcome and no one ever acknowledged the fact that it was my husband’s birthday. I specifically mentioned that on the reservation. But the group behind us was having a birthday and the staff sang and brought them a dessert. The waiter checked in periodically but didn’t give the impression that he really cared if we liked our food or were having a good time. They didn’t even say thank you as we walked out. For the pricey meal, I expect it to be a great dinner with outstanding service. Will not eat here again.

Amy Bauer

I want to give them 5 stars because the food really was delicious, but I just can't based off how much it costs... Went for lunch with a friend fully knowing we would be paying $41 for the Kobe burger. (I was on a business trip with a corporate credit card so it was fine by me since I wasn't paying for it!) We got lucky and the burger was on special for lunch for half price. Now for everything you got for the money it was a good deal. But if it was full price I couldn't justify eating there. You got a glass of red or white house wine, a salad, and the burger with a side of tater tots. The wine was fine, nothing special. The salad was tasty as well. The burger was the highlight as it should be. Absolutely delicious. The chipotle ketchup was a nice addition and I loved loved loved the tater tots. More upscale places need to serve tater tots in my opinion. The presentation was very nice as well. Loved the sticks in the burgers and the tater tots in "newspaper" in a little cauldron. I know it's New York and everything is more expensive, but no matter how delicious this food was I don't think I would be willing to pay full price for the burger. It just wasn't $41 worth of food in my opinion.

Stephanie Milan

We ordered the filet Mignon for two and it was delicious! We ordered this because the value for money was better as it came with 4 slices of meat, vegetables and potato. They also serviced the food on to our plates when it arrived so I thought that was great. Unfortunately my chair was in the walkway so people kept knocking me as they walked past, which was annoying. But other than that.. the experience was great!

yo han Chae

Delicious food and kind employee

Kate Murray

Specials board outside intrigued us as specials were $20-30. No mention of specials on the menu, you have to ask about them. Waited 10 minutes once seated to be offered a menu or drink despite asking twice. Food wait was 40 minutes but worth the wait! We ordered a steak special each (comes with mash) with a portion of creamed spinach and portion of onion rings between us. One large merlot and total cost was $100 + tip. Steaks were huge and cooked to perfection, just a shame about the service we received. Asked for mustard three times and still did not receive it by the time we finished our food. Happy we went within the lunch special time (before 4pm) as after 4pm steak prices much more expensive.

Guy Lemcoe

Excellent dining experience! Best steak I've had in recent years. Service was superb. We totally enjoyed our time there.

charles wirick

Outback is much better. Very Yummy.

Dean Bobo

Got the Japanese Wagyu "A5+" steak. It was an experience I'll probably always remember. Beautifully cooked, and the most tender and flavourful steak I think I will ever eat. Would recommend trying it at least once.

Charlie Friedman

Given the prices, everything was just a bit underwhelming. Perhaps the place is just too classic for my liking - and I think steakhouses in general can be ridiculously overpriced. Tasty food but nothing really exceptional. Steaks were average. Service was attentive but not the friendliest or most knowledgeable. For $150-200/person for a full dinner, you can get better elsewhere.

Mark Esposito

Steak and truffle Mac and cheese was amazing. The salads needed work, the dressing tasted like something out of a jar. The biggest disappointment was the service, the hostess and waiter who could care less if you were there.

fred passarella

Everything from the appetizers to desert was amazing! I had the 10 oz. Filed Mignon and it was cooked to perfection and tasted great. The Fried Calamari appetizer was awesome. Staff was attentive and friendly. Very expensive but worth it!

Scott Gross

As good as a steakhouse as you will find. The decor was old school. The staff professional and the food top notch

עידן זילברמן

they didnt have a good food

This place is so cool. Their steaks and burgers are to die for. Be sure to read up on the interesting history of this place. Also, when you're having their steak sauce and fall equally in love with it, ask to take a bottle home. Say hi to Sarko for me will ya?

Brad Herrington

Phenomenal steaks!!! and excellent service

Melvin Brewster

Great steak and great service

Tate Shafer

Very good steaks, some are larger than expected. Prices a bit high

In-Ho Yi

The food was ok. Generous serving. But I can't recommend for the price point. Also their service was clumsy

Salvio Finelli

When you want a a great simple no frills steak in a classic New York steakhouse setting, nothing beats Old Homestead. Forget those over priced places that ruin a cut of meat with sauces and spices, this place is a NY staple.

Fantastic restaurant, great food and service in an historic atmosphere. A New York classic... Go and enjoy a great meal!

Classic old style steakhouse. Menu can be pricey, so go during lunch and check out the lunch specials. Got a Kobe burger and a steak at a fraction of the regular price with all the same flavor. The Kobe burger was so very soft and juicy! The staff is attentive and if seated downstairs, there is a restroom in the back. By the way, the steak sauce is yummy and can order bottles to take home.

Nick Danziger

Great for a business lunch. Decent wine list, mostly steaks (obviously), but also lamb and fish. Buddy got the special lunch steak and it looked on par with the standard steak offerings.

I had high hope for this old establishment after seeing their menu and reviews. The dinner experience was disappointing. They were first out of lobster bisque, I got the onion soup instead which was way too salty. The steaks we ordered ok, but I can see my husband chewing the meat for a long time and was probably not a high quality meat. O had better steak at a non-steak house restaurant. The creme brulee was good. The service was not bad, just the server was not good. He kept forgetting what we ordered for what course. The supporting staff were nice. Unfortunately, this won't be a steakhouse we will be revisiting.

Elad Katz

It's alright, but definitely not my favorite Steakhouse in the city.

MANHATTANITE

Overpriced and unfriendly owner. We just had a piece of beef that we shared 2 of us and a plate of asparagus and a red wine each and paid 170$.that is what I call a legitimate robbery.

Grayson Osborne

I regularly come grabbing some food in this spot. I enjoyed the fast service and well cooked food. 5 stars from me.

Peyton Walker

Overpriced for the quality of food you receive. Trump Tower has a better Filet mignon for less money.

Evelyn R

Great staff, service & food.

Alianna

The steak here is perfect. The seasoning is crusted on top which gives just a lovely bit, and the inside is always so tender and juicy. I've had quite a bit of steak and this one.. This one is really really good. Also the potatoes. 1st class potatoes.

richard chun

Given the price, the food is just acceptable. I’ve had better steak and sides from Costco cooked from my grill.

Rakshaka Gangrel

An olde grande dame of NYC. I've been here many times. The food isn't as good as it should be and neither is the service. They live on their reputation and the only reason I go back is a free meal because my tastebudless father-in-law can get a well done steak within walking distance of home. Get the fried onions with whatever you get, it will be the best tasting thing and will bring up your meats.

I'm a vegetarian, so it didn't make complete sense for me to eat here, but what do you know? I enjoyed my meal. Had the beeksteak tomato with red onion and the house steak sauce, Truffle Mac and Cheese and Mixed Berries for dessert. I was full and satisfied. Service seemed...off, very basic, not unfriendly, but not particularly pleasant either. Lovely atmosphere: wood paneling, soft lighting and comfy chairs help to keep you calm after you glance at prices in the menu.

Great Food Great service

Emma Burke

My favorite steakhouse in NYC. Also complimented by one of the best wine lists in NYC. Won’t disappoint.

Marco Kunz

Nice Dinner, but Prices for Wine are to much.

Arturo Pardavila

One of the best places to eat in the Meatpacking District. Incredible lunch specials. One of New York's oldest steakhouses, the sign outside is a beauty. Inside, it feels like you have gone back in time. Great steaks, and great seafood selection as well. Sneaky-good lobster roll - try it during lunch.

Audun Berg

Fantastic t-bone steak

Fernand F

Hands down one of the best steakhouse in nyc. I love this place they always treat me and my family with royalty and love we been coming for the past 9 years. Special shoutout to Andy and former Gm Sean we miss you Sean. Great place to come enjoy a steak and some cocktails!

Michelle sullenberger

Fantastic service and food. We were lucky enough to get several seafood towers for the table and even the non-seafood eaters (myself and one other) loved it. Steaks were cooked perfectly. The wine selection was lacking, but we had a great time.
