You may have noticed that it has an average rating is quite positive, and it's founded on a very high number of scores, so we may conclude that the valuation is quite credible. If people have bothered to value when they've done well, it works.
You know that we do not usually stop to put opinions when they are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Restaurant is included in the category of French restaurant.
A great spot for outdoor dining when the weather is good. The apps are delicious and the waitstaff is attentive but almost a bit aggressive. I’d stick with Classic French entrees and try the wine and cocktails
it's quite expensive which I'm ok with but unfortunately the food and service was just ok... almost 70 dollars for breakfast for my wife and I....at that price it should be better than ok but it's not.
Dependable coffee house, with full service breakfast, including eggs and homestyle potatoes! There is dinner too, but have yet to sample!
NEVER take the short rib ravioli off the menu!!! They are the stuff of dreams.
This place is one of my favorites! Affordable pricing, considerable portions and the staff members are regularly very nice.
Excellent French food any francophile can appreciate, but with a menu that won't intimidate newcomers. Wonderful.
Beautiful made to order brunch with fabulous wine and beer selection.
Great French bistro with really good food. Huge wine list, if that’s your thing, and nice selection of craft cocktails. Last week I had the chicken tagine which was delicious, bursting with flavor. Octopus salad was amazing. The place is little loud but it’s part of its charm in a way. Good cappuccinos as well
Fantastic wine list. Professional friendly service. Great cassoulet.
Holidaying in NYC with my best bud. Went here for breakfast, it was amazing! Avocado Toast was perfect! Just the right about of everything. Friend had California Omlette - “gorgeous”. Lovely coffee. Brilliant service. Might go back for dinner this evening.
I live just around the corner and have eaten there many times over the years. The food is always good, and never great. Fine menu, above average in cost. However, the service is always a little slow: while it is better if you go mid-afternoon or at another quiet time, it leaves a lot to be desired if you go in the middle of the evening or for weekend brunch. A big plus is that they open daily at 7.00am - a great time to go. After that - caveat emptor.
Maybe the best food in the upper west side. Classic dishes with enough of a contemporary twist, but not at all pretentious. Mussels and fries are done really well. Wine list is insane!!!! Also the beers and cocktails are on par with any hip downtown spot.
Beautiful restaurant. Great food & atmosphere.
This is a nice, reliable neighborhood French restaurant. The food is good, and it's also good for a quick drink. The service is generally fine and prices are pretty much in line with what you'd expect. So I'd recommend it as a good place to go.
Nice place. Good attention
Great steak, great burgers, nice neighborhood restaurant.
Attentive waitstaff and delicious food. Our table of four enjoyed the small plates and amazing wine list. Highly recommended!
Don’t go here to eat steak. It was bad. Not even cooked right. They didn’t even render the fat and obviously not let it rest with the amount of “blood” that came out of it. It was barely edible. The French fries were just okay. The bread that was served was like biting into a brick.
The best restaurant in the upper west side.
Very satisfied. Quality food and service. Will be back.
Great food and service.
Excellent food (mussels & bass), service (Collin & Carson) and ambiance. Will definitely return!
Nice place to eat, great food and good service.
Always great food and service
Been here a few times on weekdays, weekends. Food is always very consistant and authentic to it's name and genre. Staff is always very professional and well put together, sometimes service is uneven but usually because they are new or busy. My go-to now on the west side for weekday lunch or weekend brunch.
This place used to be NYC royalty...but that was 2003. It's still quite good, but it's a neighborhood place now. There are still some stars on the menu, and it's pretty darn affordable for what you get.
Always amazing baked goods, food is fresh and simple. A high recommend for Brunch or Breakfast. Lots of staff and well trained and friendly.
Excellent food, excellent service. Went for both breakfast and dinner. Both come very highly recommended
Nice Matin reminds me of a French Bistro and I really enjoy the atmosphere and food. I am not used to the Upper West Side brunch price but once in a while it is acceptable. We were seated fairly quickly without a wait. We got a nice bread basket and fresh butter to go with. It is actually pretty good basket with whole grain slices, raisin and nuts, etc. For my brunch, I got the scrambled eggs with sausage. It is pretty good although I can't really say it is the best scramble egg dish since eggs are eggs. The flavor is good and the portion is just right. The dish itself is $15 so it is kind of pricey if you ask me since it doesn't come with any side or coffee or drink. My husband tried their famous Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and that was an excellent choice. I would definitely recommend that.
Poor service at breakfast. Not enough wait staff. But manager tries to help pouring coffee himself. Allow plenty of time. Food pretty good. Consider nearby alternatives like Sarabeths
Great menu great wait staff.
Excellent food and service. Hats off to Gil the owner an team.
Breakfast here was great. We stayed at the hotel, so we were given a discount. Eggs Benedict was on point. Scones were a little dry. Standard service, nothing special. My oatmeal was great, but was 1000 degrees!!! Haha. Took a while for it to cool down. The breakfast juice blend is made right before your eyes, but at $5 a glass, it's a treat for sure.
Stopped here for lunch. Sat by the window. Had escargot and tuna sandwich. Both were great.
Food and presentation was excellent.
A reliable spot for a quick-ish meal, well-executed, with a very broad and deep wine list.
Family friendly. Polite efficient wait staff. Good food
The breakfast menu was very varied and the food was fantastic. Great service. Reservations recommended.
I was at this restaurant on a quiet Sunday night (2018 Aug 19)... I went to enjoy a nice dinner by myself with a book to unwind from a busy day. However, when I got there first of all the hostess never came back to seat me, I wasn't given a menu when the maître d'/manager seated me, it took at least 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge me when I was at the table, they serve me risotto without a spoon and I had to ask twice for a spoon, the runners were great about bringing my food out in a timely manner...however, none of the servers came by in the way that they are supposed to and did not acknowledge me trying to get their attention multiple times. My order was not even taken by my server. The maįtre d or manager was the one who noticed that I was trying to get my service attention and came and had to take my order himself. There were only four other tables in this large restaurant that had customers. And no one was at the bar. The table next to me and the one across from me we're getting great top-notch service. The pessimistic side of me keeps wondering if this was a racist situation because I was the only person of color there. But, I never want to make that assumption... But as the night came to a close the thought did pop into my mind. So, I don't understand what happened that night... Especially considering that I made a very large order because I was taking food home for my boyfriend. I spent almost $200 and that's how they treated me? Like I said, the runners were great and the maître d or manager stepped up once he realized I wasn't being served in the manner that would be expected in such an establishment. It was incredibly frustrating especially since I just want to go have a nice dinner to relax. it wasn't even like I was there in pajamas or something... I was wearing a pretty summer dress and my hair was done nicely with a touch of makeup on my face... I've never in my life had had an experience like this of an establishment of this caliber. The two stars are for the maître d or manager and for the runners and because the food was worth three and a half Stars taste-wise and for presentation. Just the main basic services of a Hostess and the servers was so appalling that I have to give them a bad review. I never ever ever Leave reviews for establishments because I don't like the public platform for them but in this case I just felt it was my responsibility to do so. also, because I decided not to leave a note or speak to anyone with regards to the service... I felt I had to put sit here and hope that they see the review and address everything appropriately. It's slightly even more upsetting because I am a very generous tipper because being in the service industry is one that I know is unappreciated Or at least under appreciated... Which is why I will always tip at least 20% no matter what the service level is - as I did at Nce-Matin that night - but on average I usually like a tip around 30% for good service and 40% for excellent service. He entire experience was... Just, unacceptable for the type of restaurant that this place is.
We took the Subway to 86th Street and ate breakfast at Nice Matin before going to the Natural History Museum. It was on the Upper West Side, in a very nice neighborhood. We strolled past the semi-circular bar near the entrance and sat just about to the right of the center of the restaurant, on the window side. I admired the bistro-style wall decorations. The waiter was an older black man, very genteel (he once or twice patted me on the back in a fatherly, not fruitcakely, manner), which made me think of Morgan Freedman, or a Sudanese that I once knew. I ate the Breakfast Crunch, very crunchy. Very nice. The orange juice was just what my palate desired on a summer morning. Scattered here and there among the other customers were what must have been homestay parents taking their charges out to breakfast. On the way to the museum we noticed a squirrel enjoying his morning in the grass beneath a tree.
Love this restaurant. The food is very good and you can sit for hours without being bothered by anyone. Fabulous Art Deco interior!
The most charming and delicious French restaurant on the UWS. Knowledgable and friendly waitstaff, delicious food, and an extensive wine list!
They sat us even tho they were close to closing which we really appreciated as we had driven in from Boston and were meeting business associates. We really were not up for finding another restaurant as it was getting late. Waitstaff were great as was the food.
I met my wife here.....we go back frequently.
Very nice French bistro. I recommend the tuna tartare, and the escargot!
Nice brunch menu
Consistently great, a nice place go-to to take care of yourself at the end of a hard week, weekend brunch, or anytime. Almost like very high end comfort food, an encyclopedic bar and wine list, and great service.
Great food and wine. Excellent choice
Good, consistent service and food. A regular stop in the neighborhood.
Fantastic meal. Had the fava bean ravioli, sole milanese and just about every dessert with my group of 6. Everyone raved about the food including the burger. The table was ready for a 7 pm Sat night right on time. The service was great as well. We will be back
excellent food..beautiful décor...great service
Everything I was looking for in a nice dinner out with friends! Our waitress Kaitlyn was so friendly and had some great recommendations for desserts and appetizers. Would highly recommend the steak frites and hot chocolate! Great food and excellent service — I'll definitely be back soon!
Lovely nearly intimate place.
Lots of outside seating. Food was mediocre. Large selection of cocktails and wine. Way over priced. Skip, unless just going for drinks on the outside seating area to enjoy the sun
A nice variety of great, healthy food and great brunch. They take reservations which is a HUGE PLUS because most places won't and this was a birthday celebration than included an 88 year old who wasn't going to wait 30 minutes to an hour for a table. Food was very good and service very nice. An eggs Benedict, a hearty fritatta, a crab Cobb salad and other delicious food.
The inside of the restaurant is very pretty and glamorous, complete with outdoor seating, which is perfect on a nice day. For brunch, the french toast was a good sized portion, with very sweet bananas on top. Cooked with a light orange flavor, the french toast had a very unique taste that was enjoyable. The side of bacon (costs extra) was very crisp and dry, which I happened to enjoy, but not recommended if you prefer your bacon cooked lighter. The bill wasn't cheap but not too crazy, totaling $40 for 2 (with no alcohol).
Food was great, enjoyed the flavors. Classic Italian restaurant vibe. Service was good. Would go back again.
Skip the french toast. It came to the table with the syrup already added. They put on too much which made the french toast soggy and sickeningly sweet, making it inedible. Save your teeth and spend your money on something else!!
Consistently great, a wonderful go-to to take care of yourself at the end of a hard week, weekend brunch, or anytime. Almost like very high end comfort food, except that it's Provençal, with North African accents, an encyclopedic bar and wine list, and great service. And the space is very fun. Excellent.
Unimpressed unfortunately. Had heard good things throughout the neighborhood about Nice Matin but was disappointed in my lamb burger. Very dry and not much flavor at all.
After being here so many times, the menu seems boring, not too many variety and food quality was OK
I enjoyed the food had the salmon was amazing, Great service desserts and Coffee as I love this place and atmosphere.
If you like french food this is the place and the drinks were amazing!
Good experience!
Amazing salmon, salads and loved the hummus
Lovely place for dinner. To start we had the Burrata and Grilled Octopus to share which was perfectly portioned and beyond delicious. As our main dishes we had the Prime Hanger Steak with a side of Grilled Asparagus which was delectable and the Tuscan Chicken with comes with Crispy Potatoes; the taste was truly amazing, I now feel I can’t have chicken unless its cooked under a brick lol.
There was a hair on my napkin when we sat down so I shouldn't be too surprised but there was also a hair in the egg dish that one of our group ordered. It didn't look like the table had been wiped off between seatings - lots of crumbs etc
This used to be our go to neighborhood restaurant. It has gone downhill and sadly we will never return. The last 3 dining experiences were a huge disappointment. The octopus was inedible. The burrata itself was good but it is served on a piece of bread that became soggy.I was also very surprised when the mussels arrived. They were small. Finally the presentation on the hanger steak was sloppy. The whole evening was a huge disappointment and left me saying “not coming back here again”
Great pastries, great service. Bottomless coffee. Awesome baked eggs.
Great food, great service. Highly recommended.
I just love this place: the decor, the food, the service...perfection!
the hostess was rude. the waiter didn't come to check on us at all. The food took forever to arrive and it was blend and overcooked .
Food was ok and service was good, but absolutely not worth the price. Some restaurants in this neighbourhood is ridiculously expensive and this is one of them.
This is the 2nd time going there. Bottom line is if you leave hungry it is your fault. Generous portions, very nice staff and excellent prices. We sat outdoors and enjoyed everything. What more could you ask for. Highly recommended!!
They were so rude and not nice to my friend and me as we were looking to have an early dinner with our two toddlers. The restaurant was half empty but they gave us a hard time choosing a table not to mention the pain of convincing them to park our strollers. This used to be a place I liked going to but I will definitely not return there anytime soon
Went here at my parents' suggestion when Cafe Frida near the natural history museum was a total bust. They live in the west side, so they are familiar with the area. It was a bit of a wait but we were a large group. The food was spectacular. The Moroccan salmon was amazing and the croissants were absolutely perfect. The food took a long time to come but the atmosphere was great and when the food came, it was outstanding. This will be my new go to restaurant when I need lunch near the museum! My toddler enjoyed the food too!
This place is deteriorating. The service was horrible, the food so so, definitely not what it used to be.
Went here for brunch. Food was good not great. Pretty standard options that are French inspired, but nothing to get excited about. The cafe au lait was good though.
Food is good as always. But the service, omg... get ready to eat your food cold. No coordination whatsoever. Waiters are all over the place, running around but nothing is done. It took good 25 minutes to finally get the drinks and another 15 minutes to get coffee. It took total 58 minutes to get BLT sandwich. Eddy tried the best but he was too overwhelmed... poor management... should be embarrassing to run such service. ** duck liver mousse - too much of added vinegar.
Fine food but the noise level is not tolerable.
Nice place, but the pizza and eggs benedict was just average.
Very nice place with European ambiance. Excellent food and bery attentive service.
Friendly and elegant dining on the upper West side. I am always satisfied when I come to Nice Matin!
Wow. Very nice stake. Good service. Scarlett Johansen was there.
Delicious breakfast spot, an old standby for myself. I enjoy their wide selection of breakfast options that lean French and Moroccan but with enough American fare for those seeking something familiar.
Rude , made us wait 35 mins and we were told to wait another 45 mins . We had to leave
Good food and atmosphere but small portions and poor wait staff. Check your bill carefully!
Limited menu for lunch. Food is very good. Interior decor is nice too. But there weren't a lot of things to choose from.
Delicious food. Attentive service without being intrusive
This is a nice restaurant with a nice menu and very nice staff. We love the place and come back as often as we can.
Very average salad amidst a rather bustling restaurant. There didn't seem to be any dressing on the salad, service was also distracted.
Got seated right away on a Saturday night, place seemed busy. Staff was friendly and prompt. Appetizer we're very good, but main course lacked classic French richness.
Great little place
Nice casual restaurant, friendly wait staff, a short walk to Central Park
The three of us (vegetarians) decided to share some hors d'oeuvres, a la small plates. By doing this we were able to sample six different items. We could probably have gotten by with five. We absolutely loved all our choices, but the hands down favorite was the Sweet Pea Risotto.
The food and ambiance
Very nice French bistro. I really like their salmon dish with tabouleh. The menu is really big, good variety of dishes and on top of that they have specials every night. Large selection of wines. Service is lacking sometimes.
Food was yummy, but service was extremely slow
I like the food portions, a bit smaller than some may expect. The salmon bagel with cream cheese comes with all items separate on a plate and you build it yourself. I liked it, but fair warnings to others who may not want to deal with that.
Presentation was amazing and there was a variety of foods. The service was excellent. I had a vegetarian grain bowl and tuna tartare as an appetizer. I thought it could have used more depth in the flavorings of both dishes. They both had a variety of foods but lacked distinct flavors.
Amazing atmosphere and delicious drinks. They have a wine list the size of a bible and the creme brulee is to die for. I highly recommend the salmon!!
This spot is first-rate and broad, the menu was yummy and the rates were very fair. rapidly, productive service and very amiable waiters. Highly recommended.
Nice breakfast spot. Good food. Great friendly service. Went there 3 times in a week. Stay at the Hotel Lucerne and they give you a discount.
Good food and service
Gluten free Eggs Benedict!
This place is a great with a wonderful atmosphere. The service is very nice and prompt. I got the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and the fish was so fresh. Highly recommend this place!
Nice wine selection. Had dessert and wine and sat outside and dreamed of being in the south of France. Wish they had salad nicoise
Good food! Very nice service. A little loud for my taste but overall a very good experience.
Good food & service. Had the steak sandwich for lunch with fries, it was very tasty & the fries were excellent. My girlfriend had the escargot, she loved it and the chicken salad was excellent and a large portion. Highly recommend Steve G
We stumbled across this restaurant, and were very happy with it. It was a an American/Greek flare. We enjoyed everything we had. We Started with kale salad, which I never order, and was done very nicely, along with the grilled octopus, which was cooked perfectly. For dinner we split the Moroccan salmon which almost melted in our mouth. Definitely worth trying.
Salad and salmon was a good pick. Wine, and flat white was also great. Nice local place to go.
I always wanted to eat here and I finally did! I had a delicious salad with a Moroccan spiced lamb burger which was cooked perfectly. I will go back for sure.
Wonderful atmosphere and French flair. Sunday Brunch is a hit.
Great service. Great wine selection and very tasty food.
Totally overpriced.
The atmosphere is good, and our waiter was helpful (though sometimes aloof). The food was pretty standard for French cuisine, though the sauces were bland and boring. Our waiter described the sauce that came with my dish and it sounded great, but the flavor was nothing like the description.
This is such a lovely restaurant. We went there for breakfast twice during our recent stay at The Lucerne, and were very pleased with the reception. The servers are very professional, especially Ashley and Ricky. They have perfected that fine balance of serving, but without hovering or seeming to rush you in any way. The food was excellent, very well presented, and we will definitely visit again for breakfast. The bran muffin was heavenly and I hope they do not change it before we are able to return. No matter what you are ordering for breakfast, definitely add the bran muffin!
I had a birthday dinner with a group of friends and we loved the place. Food was good and excellent service. Atmosphere was great as well. It was a wonderful birthday.
Have been there a couple times now. The food and service were excellent both times. We try to stay on a budget when we are in NYC so this place is relatively affordable. It is not overly expensive, but it feels like we're treating ourselves when we go.
I had higher expectations, but the food was simply ok. Escargot delivered, everything else was ok (mussels, creme brulee).
Very good service.
Very good Breakfast and Brunch with a nice atmosphere. The wait staff is also quite attentive. The orange-buttermilk french toast was amazing!
Service disappoints. Food prices fair for NYC.
Good food and service. Excellent breakfast menu. Nice atmosphere.
Lovely.
Well run, clean, friendly wait staff, can be pricey but it's worth it. Late-night dining too.
Too crauded. Very busy on a nice weathered Sunday. Took them a long time to bring us the menus and serve the dishes.
We came to this place for a meeting. This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend. Well, it was a winning. The staff welcomed us with a smile and we had a fantastic feeling. The food was just great. We enjoyed every moment and we will definitely return to this restaurant. we highly recommend this place.
Really bright space and nice atmosphere; great for lunch. We enjoyed the chicken & roasted vegetable sandwich. Less so for the crab salad. Great server but didn't catch his name.
Good food but service was very slow
I had a great dinner at Nice Matin. The service is very good. My waiter was very cheerful and charming and he knew what he was doing. I came very early, when there were not many people eating there, but as time went on, people kept coming in, and it kept getting louder and louder. It was never too loud, though, and the atmosphere was nvery warm and calm. The food was very nice as well. The food came out fresh and warm, and there were many choices. There was meat, vegetables, French fries, and a lot more. The drinks were very good as well. They had a good Fever Tree Ginger Beer, which I thought you could only find in London. I like their lighting, which are not too bright and not too dark.
This place is soo good and looks so romantic at night. The pics dont do it any justice. Cant wait to go back
A beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere on the Upper West Side. Great food, attentive service. Lots of tables outside if the weather is nice.
Love this place. Great neighborhood restaurant. Food is always great, huge menu, changed seasonally, cocktails are yummy. In the summer they have a lovely big outdoor cafe.
Very charming French restaurant with romantic interior, excellent service, and serving traditonal French fare. Went here during restaurant week and was not disappointed. Drinks were also well made and made with care. Waiter allowed us to choose from any dessert on the menu instead of just those for restaurant week. A bit on the pricier side given that the menu is fairly typical, but the execution was nice. Would go again.
It was awful
The food is always very good. I recommend going for brunch too.
Great NY bistro in the modern French style. Phenomenal wine lost, lovely service and food
Friendly staff and great food at a reasonable price point
Great ambience and service, good for a tired tourist
Good service, great food
Their regular menu looks pretty good however if you have a gluten allergy, go elsewhere. Their gluten free bread is bearly edible. They try to warm it up it but within 60 seconds of cooling it's as hard as a rock. The bread is also very small and only intended as a bread basket starter before your meal. However they use it for their sandwiches as well which is absurd as nothing really fits on there. I also had their egg and avocado for brunch which was so awful I left it in my plate after 2 bites and asked for the bill. The avocado had gone off. The waitress could care less why I didn't finish my meal. She didn't even bother to ask how my meal was. For prices like theirs, you would think you would get better service and quality of food.
Delicious food. Excellent service.
Bit pricey. Like 16 bucks for a lunchtime salad type price, but the food is pretty good. Really nice indoor and outdoor seating area. Cafe style environment and really nice and attentive wait staff. Would definitely go again. Their 5 Napkin Burger really lives up to it's name.
Great food, excellent service, reasonable prices. Great for a breakfast meeting.
Amazing ambiance. Our server was very knowledgeable of the entire menu. He made outstanding recommendations and the cocktails were amazing. Have the St. Tropaz or you love mojitos.
Fantastic cuisine and top notch service.
Absolutely delicious! I recommend the tuna tartare, and the escargot!
Nice place for brunch. A few vegan options.
Like a little slice of Paris
From my perspective, this felt very non-typical. They serve gingerbread instead of French bread. The creme brulee had red berries on top making the caramel under it soggy instead of crackling as it should be. Typically, Nice dishes are prepared with olive oil, these didn't seem to have any. Service was good, prices expensive considering.
Excellent wine list
Great atmosphere
Food was bland, servings were really small and expensive for what you get in a plate. No French food so not sure why it’s called a French restaurant. The good thing is that the staff was nice :)
Good food and nice service RECOMMENDED
If you like eggs Benedict, you must try the smoked salmon eggs Benedict, but all brunch items are delightful.
Food is delicious and the service is great. Love the place and will definitely recommend it to all my friends.
