Fun restaurant that provides an experience as well as great food. Amazing carnitas, awesome guacamole, and all around amazing food. The staff was also professional and friendly. Also, they decorate well for holidays, which is very cool.

The service was good and the guacamole by Leo was delicious. But our entrees were not the best. We had a nice evening, friendly staff and enjoyed the musicians.

The lunch menu from their website is full of great looking options. Unfortunately, they don't have a single one of the items they advertise and the waiter doesn't even recognize the menu from their own website. Nothing on their replacement lunch menu looks even remotely interesting. Don't bother.

I’m here now lol. The food is good, but I’m writing this review now because it took 40 minutes for our drinks to come. It was pretty frustrating, especially when celebrating a friend’s Birthday. Seems like the order was never put in even though we were assured they were on there way 20 minutes before they finally arrived. Seems when this place is a bit busy, not crazy, the service can suffer greatly. Oddly the table next to us got their food and drinks before we even got our first drink even though they arrived after us. Disappointing since I’m a local trying this place for the first time.

Food was, at best, mediocre. Our waitress deserted us half way through the meal and we had to figure out creative ways to pay our bill. The chips were so hard that my gums are inflamed and in pain a day later. The main courses were a generous size, though not very tasty. It was a lot like if your uncle Hector cooked you a meal, even though he's barely been in the kitchen since he was a student in college.

Mexican Festival is a happy and friendly place to family and friends. They have original Mexican food. They also have a sports bar with a really huge tv. I've eaten here several times.

Gabriel, Tony and the team are stars. They are welcoming, friendly, and helpful. I have enjoyed meals there with friends, and loved the guacamole made fresh before our very eyes, the sizzling fajitas and the piquant enchiladas. The mariachi band adds to the fun atmosphere, and the $5 for local students don't hurt either. We also hosted a large event for 100 attendees that was a great success, and wonderful value for money. Already looking forward to coming again—they made me feel at home.

Excellent staff. Food is very good and they have a great happy hour but get there early because happy hour is popular and it get jammed!! Oh yesh... prices are reasonable and they give a lot of food. Yummy!

The drinks were amazing!!!! Prices were affordable if you go at happy hour. I love that there was a mariachi band. All in all an amazing experience. Will definitely go back. Did I mention the tequila infused pineapples?

Love Mexican Festival - and it’s predecessor Mexican place in the same spot. A festive, fun atmosphere and a combination of authentic fare and food aimed at Upper West Side gringos. A treat for the whole family, no matter the age.

Better than expected Mexican food. The salsa here is delicious. Probably freshly made with the ingredients still identifiable to the eye. I ordered shrimp al diablo. It was so nice to see a side dish of vegetables. The musgrooms were grilled and tasty. The rice was great and i am not a rice fan! My only complaint was that the food and plate were served dangerously hot and i had to wait 5 minutes for the food to cool down.

Food is good. Service is so slow- only one poor waitress working. Worst part: their credit card system was down. They said we could either give them our credit card info (not safe) or pay cash (we didn’t have) or wait indefinitely even though we’d already been there over an hour and a half and waiting to pay for 30 minutes. They were not polite. If you can’t take the money I am trying to give you- set me free. Bad restaurant etiquette and not polite either. Barely even apologetic. Won’t be back :(

Order came out missing chicken. Manager in a suit delivering it, then told us that there isn’t chicken in there because “chicken is bad for you”. I thought he was joking until I asked again he said “maybe they ran away.” And laughed. Staff is fantastic but management (or host in suit) needs to go.

My waiter's name was Ernesto and he provided my kids and I with excellent service. He was friendly and checked on us often to ask if we were okay/ if we needed anything. I had one mojito and is was strong (which is a great thing) and taste great. The food portion was perfect and taste great. The restaurant is kept very clean. I will go back there without the kids for there happy hour!

My wife booked this place for her grandmother's 95th birthday, only problem is she booked it the day before the event. Specifically looking for a place that had a Mariachi band. The person who spoke to us over the phone was so accommodating and was able to secure us a table for 17 people with no hassle. The food was excellent, the drinks were large and the Mariachi bands were awesome. I would highly recommend this place to any and all looking for a good time, birthday or not. Great atmosphere and great service to boot.

Went there with my family and we had a great time. They have Mariachis playing all night and they take song requests. Of course they accept tips. Drinks are great and the sangria pitcher is more than big enough for 6 people. I had the rib eye steak and it was great. I do recommend making a reservation as it gets full at night.

Experience was unpleasant! My friend was visiting from DC so I recommended this place for dinner as I've always wanted to eat there, I made a reservation 3 days before. He stayed in a hotel in the neighbourhood and they also recommended this place to him so we were both happy to eat there. We ordered an appetizer to share, he ordered food from the main menu while I ordered the seafood from the weekend special menu. The guacamole was great but when the entree arrived, we were embarrassed. The seafood portion was too much for 2 people even if we were sharing, it should ideally be for 4 people or maybe 3 starving people. The menu didn't advise that it was an extremely large portion for 1 person and our waiter didn't have the sincerity to advise us also because he obviously wanted to just sell the dish and make tips and whether we threw out the leftover was non of his business. It was 4 large shrimps, some mussels, 4 big bowls of rice in one portion and 4 scallops, after eating what I could, I asked that they pack it in a to go container, the rice filled 3 to go containers. My friend didn't have a refrigerator in his hotel room so we would have spent money and thrown out the rest of the food if I wasn't living in NY. This is a very bad way to make people buy large amount of food just so you can make tips. The worse thing is that the tips was already added on the bill and it was 20%.

The food is good here, but the service isn't so great. The server kept going to the back to talk so we couldn't even take full advantage of happy hour. And we sat there trying to get her attention for 15mins before she decided to take our order. The drinks were definitely good though, and strong.

Was there last Night. Worst service ever by our female waiter. Took our order and disappeared. Appetizers came in timely manner but Entrée took at least 40 mins to be served even after we had finished. We sat there with no waiter service. When food came it was Bland and soggy! Disgusting. To top it off, we didn’t realize we paid for an side order that we never received. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. Defin a hole in the wall and service to match it. Not worth your time and money.

If I could rate this place I would give zero stars. Do not go at 10:30 if you’re not Mexican. The bartender didn’t even want to serve me a drink and when he finally did give me a drink he was rude about it. He rushed me out. He had the nerve to ask a Mexican customer In Spanish if he wanted anything else but when I asked he said no mind you I’m Hispanic so I understand Spanish. This place is a joke

Food and drinks are delicious, but the service isn't up to par. The staff tried to overcharge us on a small bill, they added gratuity after tax and the included gratituity. Had to go back to register and argue about the price 3x before receiving the proper bill. Just be careful if you try this place, and don't let them take advantage of your party if you're coming for drinks!

Just left this place and I'm beyond disappointed. Went for Valentine's day and the food was horrible. Rid eye steak had absolutely no flavor and the staff was not friendly at all.

I give a 3 star because I used to love this restaurant the food was great when it first opened. We enjoy big family dinners at this restaurant because the food was good and the ambiance was great. They have mariachis some nights and it gives it such a back home in Mexico vibe. Lunch wasn't as good as I remember. I was disappointed by the food and the inattentive service. There was hair in my soup, the food took so long, and it was hard to get any attention from any waiter. Wish it was like it was before because I really liked this place and the food. But now it isnt as good as it used to be.

Delicious restaurant! Have to get the frozen margaritas w sugar on the rim are my favorite. Absolute must order. Btw during happy hour the margaritas are 5$! Also beers and wine. Appetizers are amazing the nachos and calamari highly recommended. Beautifully decorated restaurant with pristine service. Music and ambiance make it a great place to relax after work or for a lovely dinner.

We used to love nearby, so decided to stop in and see what changed. Happy hour now runs until closing which is a great change and the service is excellent. However, it's also more crowded. The food was my problem. I though the less expensive items were not great - particularly disappointed in the sopa de tortilla and the nachos. However then there's a big jump in price to $20+ entrees. They need to fill in the $10- $20 range.

If you come to Mexican festival expect to not get service. Not only that but if you made a reservation expect to get a table 45 min later after your reservation. This restaurant doesn’t have a structure and the manager has a bad attitude. Our server was no where to be found and our busboy Rigoberto was our waiter the entire night. Rigoberto was very attentive and the only reason this place is getting 3 stars otherwise they deserve a 1 star.

The food was very fresh and delicious(not to salty either)! I like that they put the spicy sauce on the side (so you could add as much/little as you like). I think I had the best Pina colada ever! The staff were very friendly and the place was nice and clean as well. We will definitely be going back!

Service was slow and I had the single worst margarita i’ve ever had. For $7. On happy hour. The lady next to me at the bar said “isn’t this great, don’t you just love happy hour” and I couldn’t even make eye contact with her. The food was bland and the salsa was watery. Everything is $20+ a plate, but don’t worry, they serve fish sticks. Which are also $7. On happy hour.
