REVIEWS OF Marseille IN New York

Danny Johnson

Excellent food and a nice atmosphere without feeling stuffy. The duck was fantastic and the monkfish was good too. The corn risotto was one of the best dishes, surprisingly. They are considerate about show times as well.

Shinnerrie Jackson

This is a typical touristy Theatre district restaurant. The service is great. They do an excellent job of keeping close attention to the tables while maintaining a distance so you can really enjoy your food and company. The scallop appetizer is not worth it I would definitely go for any other app. I had the Chicken Gran Mere and my friend had the Tuna Nicoise and both were really really good. There is enough to take home. The scalloped potatoes are devine. I would definitely get dessert.

First time coming here for brunch and it was amazing. The staff were super friendly. Brunch was so yummy. We order Escargot and wow it had so much flavor had me wanting me more. Also, ordered steak and eggs with fries. The steak was so juicy and eggs cooked perfectly!

Yen Nguyen

Pretty standard restaurant. The mussels were a tad too salty and buttery. Salmon was well-cooked with a crispy skin; however, the ratatouille's olives were overpowering.

Max M

Great ambience, great food. A definite plus for a superb glass of wine and a delicious dinner!

Joe Cacciapaglia

French restaurant in the heart of Manhattan. A bit pricey by my standards

Craig Foucht

Impressed. Tasty Bloody Mary and omelette. It took them awhile to get our coffees at the end of the meal, and they took them off the bill. Will go back when in NY.

Lynn Hedden

Great food! Excellent atmosphere!

Janet Arteaga

Excellent oysters and escargot

George Roy

Nice Staff, curtious, clean. Great attention. Good hearty breakfast. Will come back

Sean Squier

Brendan Delaney

Excellent all round.

Rebecca Maiatico

We had a wonderful experience celebrating our son's wedding with family from all over the states. The food and wine was great And the service was tremendous. Thank you for making it a special day for all.

Bernard Dumont

Great service, excellent food and friendly work team.

Isaac Kestenberg

Great food we loved it

Kelly Colens

Passed by this place on the way home and saw that they had oysters happy hours so had to stop by. We got half a dozen oysters, half a dozen little neck clams, and the Lillet Spritz cocktail. It was a good day for dining outdoors so the ambience was nice on a clear summer night. The oysters and clams were fresh. I would definitely be back for the oyster happy hour alone!

Andreina Duven

We had breakfast here on a rainy day where all the diners around were packed. I’m so glad we ran into it. Incredible food. Attention to detail in every item served. Great bread, fresh croissants, buttery and warm brioche, perfectly cooked eggs, potatoes are to die for with caramelized vegetables. Espresso is a must. Don’t miss it, truly a gem for brunch.

Forrest Hedden

Really good french bistro fare in theater district. The onion soup, the duck liver mousse, the tomato salad, and the cheese course (with all 6 cheeses) was exceptional. Service was very attentive and professional and the wine list has some affordable options.

rosalie j

Attended a celebration for a birthday here. I found the staff to be charming and delightful. They really knew how to take care of a large group. The entire event was perfect.

Bryan Szeglin

Great cocktails, nice place for a drink.

Margaret Mackie

Great food. The French fries were to die for.

Laura Bennett

We were a party of 6, requesting a 7:30pm dinner. The restaurant impressed us with their professionalism by calling us to reconfirm, and to make sure we didn't need expedited service for the theatre. The service was attentive, not rushed or intrusive, the food delicious. We were able to enjoy our meal, and our own company.

Andrew Meaden

Slow on the food, food was OK though, bit pricey, but otherwise not bad.

Emily Manns

I went to this place twice (a year apart). The 1st time the food was amazing! The 2nd time we were super disappointed that the quality dropped significantly. I ordered a salad with chicken and it was only arugula with a piece of chicken on top. Nothing else. The eggs Benedict was not great either. Overpriced for a huge drop in quality.

robert kolesar

Classic French Bistro..everything we ate at brunch was fabulous!! Good service great atmosphere... A bit pricey..

Lieven Vandergoten

We got squeezed in between 2 services before a broadway show. Good brunch. Fast service.

enisa shehu

I was there for my birthday. I liked a lot the food; the escargot were delicious. Our waiter was nice. But I don't like the hostess which show us the table where to sitt and told that you have only 2 hours to eat your food. Because other customers will come. And I don't like when someone there, maybe the busboy almost thrown in my face a plate with some cookies and a candle. At other restaurants ; the waiter will come with the plate and sing to you. But this behavior made me not wanted to go back there.

Susan Mulder

We went there for a nice Sunday brunch and we weren't disappointed. We were seated outside but it was just too hot of the sun beating on us. They quickly satis at an indoor table with plenty of air conditioning. The coffee waa delicious and the omelets we ordered were exceptional! Didn't think you could do much with an omelette but every single bite was just delicious. Great place for brunch!

John Holst

Outstanding Food & Service

Marie Gilot

Great place if you’re a person of color and would like to experience casual racism with your otherwise unremarkable meal. Had dinner with a friend who is an Indian woman and the entire staff never acknowledged her, speaking solely to me. It was blatant and when I pointed it out to the manager (an Indian man!!!), he apologized... to me, not my friend!!! Really upsetting.

Ed Danileyko

The food is just okay. No issues there. I had a late lunch kale salad and their Marseille burger. The salad was fine, and the burger was decent but sort of bland. The problem I had was that everything took AGES. As I passed by the restaurant, I noticed that there was a table outside on the corner that needed bussing and was vacant, so I went in and asked if they were cleaning it up so I could take it. The hostess was nice, and agreed to have it cleaned. This took about 15-20 minutes... while i waited and watched the process... I also noticed that there was another table inside that wasnt bussed after the last group left, but this table would remain that way. Then i sat down, gave them my order and waited, and waited, and waited for this kale salad. By the time I got it, the sunlight had shifted and my table was now in the shade so it was getting chilly. I made it as glaringly obvious that I was done and ready for the next course as I could, but still got no attention for the next 15-20 minutes, again. This would happen in between every interaction with the staff at this restaurant. I will not be going back to Marseille for that lack of decent service. Being seated, ordering, and eating a salad and burger should not take an hour and a half.

Dhimiter Llambiri

One of my favorite French restaurants in the city. Super authentic. Close to Broadway or the Intrepid so it can suit the needs for the whole family. The vibe is so French that I slowly acquired a French accent. The host was also French and he thought I was French but I'm not.

James Napoli

Marseille is an incredible find in the theater district. It is a French brassiere with a wine list that is one of the better ones I have seen in the City.

Andy Li

Only had the brunch here but it was very good. Friendly server, good coffee and pastry.

Iryna V. S

Went to Marseille for lunch. The food was good and the service was great too. Very nice inside.

Seth Grossman

Great French bistro. We ate outside, but the interior looked like it was modeled after an everyday French cafe. The service was impeccable, and the food was perfect. My chicken was juicy and moist, the skin was just rught, but the highlight was the roasted garlic. Also great escargot. And the seeded bread rolls at the top of the meal, with the butter and oil to dip into, were tasty.

Monique Hudson

french food, yeah, excellent. Everyone at our table was very satisfied. Next time I'll be back with my friends. They have a lot of positive reviews for a reason.

Tracey Lewis

Not a big fan of French food but the staff was definitely on point, great service, very attentive.

Bill Fair

Wonderful post-theater dinner with friends. Food was great and service was equally awesome. Second time there and will return.

Sarah Goodman

The tuna nicoise was underdressed and full of tasteless raw peppers. Not to mention the less than fresh tuna. The blueberry tart was a cookie topped with raw blueberries. The bread belonged at Olive Garden. My friend got the couscous which was good, but still not worth the price tag. Just not worth it.

Ju Parelli

I had the best croissant of my life here and the waiter Johnny,as well as all the staff but especially Johnny, was a sweetheart! We had mimosas, which are made with freshly squeezed OJ, Lorraine omelet(delicious) and please don't forget to order the ginger cookies. I promise you won't be disappointed. Coffee is great too.

Kimberly Kavanagh

A beautiful restaurant with delicious French cuisine that was excellently prepared. Service was wonderful. My friend misplaced her credit card and staff set it aside for her to pick up. Overall a great experience!

Eric Mundt

Great service, huge wine menu, fun setting. Unfortunately, I think for value there are better options. I ordered the special (pictured) on my visit, and for $38 it is disappointing to leave hungry.

Elda Ramirez

The place made me feel like I really was somewhere in France and the food was delicious. I had the escargots. PERFECTION!!!! And I had the humus, delicious. Their Mediterranean salad and Tuna Tartar were delicious too!

Candice Mostisser

The service at this place is horrendous. It took asking four waiters and 30 minutes to see a refill on coffee, and another three waiters 20 minutes to see the (incorrect) bill. We didnt see our waitress between ordering food and receiving the final check. Note that the bill will upcharge you over the menu's prices for coffee. Awful experience for mediocre food: the bacon is flacid and the home fries dripping in oil.

Adam Trend

Awesome place. Great cuisine. Good place for a group or romantic dinner for two. Popular for pre- or post-theater show

philippe meyersohn

Solid French food in Hell’s Kitchen. I had the onion tart which was OK. My friend’s steak was big and very juicy - he enjoyed it. Good standby in that part of town. Drop in before or after a play.

ismael diaz

Excellent! My wife and I got to the restaurant early, had drinks at the bar while we waited for the rest of our family to arrive. The bartender could not have been nicer very engaging and helpful. Once seated our waiter was great guiding us through our meal choices and wine pairings. Needless to say the food was fantastic, perfect portions of, Trout, Salmon, Hanger Steak, Mussels are all excellent dishes. Enjoy!

Connie C

I had the trout and it was moist and delicious. The food was perfection. Not to be missed! Service was gracious and friendly. Highly recommend it!

Lesley Hunter

Great food, service & atmosphere!!

Arthur Marbury

Great Sunday brunch

Alexandra Michael

The risotto app was delicious

Dominic Glidden

Good food, servers friendly could have been a bit more attentive...

Dani Antunes

Delicious breakfast!

Len Kardon

Fun place for an upscale brunch. Fancy but not pretentious.

FACD1980

I thought this was going to be a tourist trap pre theatre restaurant, but I was so wrong. It was great! They did everything right - delicious fresh oysters, perfectly medium rare steak, fresh bread, buttery but not soggy escargots, good wine list, good service. Even the ambiance was right - buzzing but not loud, not crowded. It’s a traditional place, with traditional french bistro food, delivered flawlessly. Highly recommend.

Amy Del Santo

Went solo for breakfast. Got the Eggs Benedict and passion mimosa. Both were very good. Loved the decor. Excellent service. I would definitely go back for their bottomless mimosas at brunch on Saturday and Sunday.

Papo Rivera

Escargot is outstanding.

Dan Mariano

Great bloody Mary's, Brioche French toast

Gary Levine

This place is excellent. The food and service were both in point. We will definitely be back.

Karim Elkholy

Ok food, but you gave me a very uncomfortable seat. The leg of the table made it very hard to sit correctly, which made the whole experience uncomfortable.

Nancy Hendrix

Highly recommend. Great service. Phenomenal food. Beautiful atmosphere.

Eleni Gounaris

Fabulously authentic, great French spot for dinner and a show. Quick walk to the theaters. Aesthetic on point.

PBMtnty BUMC

Had breakfast. Eggs and French toast was good. Nice atmosphere. Great service.

ricknsarahfox

Crab and eggs and lump crab salad was amazing & so was the sangria.

Quinkmus

Deserves a star in guide michelin, good food

Desiree LaCharite

Food and service was good. Really nice space and ambiance.

K L Bachani

Lots of music and variety of drinks. Good eating place.

Rania Ghamlouch

This is where we celebrated my fiancé’s birthday. French restaurant with cafe trottoir seating. It’s all about the experience and our waiter (interestingly of Italian origin) was on point, funny and had amazing advise and good taste. The steaks were pretty good and cooked to perfection. The real winner surprisingly was the Chickpea frites with rosemary- omg super smooth texture inside with a crunchiness on the outside. Their was also focaccia bread ordered specifically for me which was gluten free-yummy!! The wine section was good as well. All Worth the price.

Ti-Hua Chang

A resonably priced very nice French restaurant. A Best buy. A Parisian like respite in busy Manhattan.

Chris Andrew

Be sure to put this on your restaurant list when you're in Manhattan. An amazing wine list, great service, and the food is wonderful. The atmosphere is comfortable and unpretentious, but still respectable. Give yourself enough time to enjoy the food....this isn't the place to scarf down a plate if you're in a hurry. Reservations are recommended for evening dining.

Shweta Garg

I had the most wonderful experience at Marseille! We were seated immediately when we arrived around 5pm at a gorgeous spot near the windows. We ordered the sangria and rosé spritz to start which came almost immediately. The sangria was strong and the rosé was light and well... spritzy! We got two breadsticks covered in everything bagel seasoning with butter in EVOO literally two seconds before our risotto appetizer came. Unfortunately the breadsticks were a bit too rough for me to eat but my friend didn't seem to mind. The risotto came out, with a beautiful yellow colored cream surrounding the risotto. I complemented the dish to the server because it was so amazing, and he told me that the dish changes with the season but the saffron always remain an integral part of the dish. Next we got our chicken grand-mere and spring pasta. YOU GUYS. MY GOD THIS WAS SO GOOD. The chicken was beautifully crisped, the potato gratin was delicious, the string beans were buttery, and the roasted garlic wasn't too strong in flavor so we even ate the cloves! The spring pasta was a light dish with a hint of spicyness. We actually realized it has pancetta, and I had mentioned to the server that the only meat I ate was chicken. We asked if it was indeed pancetta and he immediately took it back and brought out a fresh dish and the kitchen was so kind as to add chicken into it instead. For dessert, we ordered the profiterole which was huge and came with chocolate sauce on the side for us to pour over. The ice cream was delicious and it was soft and flaky! It was my first time having profiteroles and this was truly phenomenal. All in all a great meal and a great time.

L Glaser

Had brunch at Marseille prior to a matinee and the three of us all cleaned off our plates. Interesting flavors given all we had was French Toast, Waffles and eggs. Still, the preparation made it worthwhile and the staff were extremely polite.

Michael Connor

The theatre district ain’t famed for its eateries, at least since Jack Dempsey moved on. But Marseille is a bit of a find: convenient to many theatres and a playful, competent menu in a convincing sham French cafe setting. Banquettes, tiled floors and the occasional gamine server go a long way toward evoking France as Sartre and Camus might have known it. French standard dishes are likely to please most in a theatre party. Pricing is aggressive but short of shocking .

Gary Howland

Called in for brunch. Great pancakes and eggs. Coffee was best in town... Saying something for NYC.

Tim Zachary

Top notch taste at the price. Waiter is enthusiastic and helpful. Wonderful experience.

Sarah West

Fantastic service and food! I recommend the Lorraine omlette!

Brayden Mora

A friend recommended we try dinner at Marseille, but when stumped for a spot for breakfast in Time Square we thought we’d give it a try. We were not disappointed! Marseille is a 5 star restaurant in every way. White tablecloths, bright, airy, comfortable seating. Johnny M provided us with outstanding service, and gave us wonderful suggestions. Be sure to try the fresh croissants. We also enjoyed our fluffy French omelettes, bacon, and plenty of delicious coffee. All at a surprisingly reasonable price. We will certainly be back for dinner! Hope Johnny will be there to wait on us.

Stacey Quandt

Excellent onion soup. Some of our guests food arrived room temperature instead of hot. Efficient service.

Keith Woeltje

There for Sunday brunch. Food was outstanding, but service was very slow. Would go back for the food.

armand vanderstigchel

First time here I’m pleasantly surprised how good the food was in the service. Great tuna and boulibase. Excellent desserts. Great overall

Can Inci

Delicious breakfast place / restaurant with French taste. I had a croissant and poached eggs with salmon. Everything was exquisite. Friendly staff. If you are in the vicinity, a must try!

Julie Edwards

Excellent addition the area! Margeaux Brasserie has a classic, yet indulgent, French menu with an INCREDIBLE wine menu. The sommeliers are excellent and eager to help. I'm vegetarian, and the choices are pretty limited but I always have a good time here nonetheless. The tomato tartin is beautiful. I've seen the steaks and seafood happily devoured. Get a cheese plate - the cart experience is fantastic, and the cheeses are fairly unique. A bit quieter during the summer months so far, due to there being no outdoor seating and not being at street level. I haven't been for brunch yet, but it looks ravishing.

Glen Rudd

Lovely place and quiet!

po yen tseng

The food is really good, but took a long time to be sit. Was asked to wait for ten minutes so that they could organize the table, but wait time was extended 15min longer. Could be more respectful for diners’ time

Katherine Ferranti

Reliable and consistent pre-theatre. Beautiful space and fresh dishes. Best fries on the planet!

monsquito

Fantastic service. Wonderful food. The sirloin was excellent. Extensive wine list.

Gio Lobato

Great oysters with a happy hour special from (I believe) 3-5, and 9-close. Try the jalapeno sauce for the oysters for sure. We sat at the bar and the staff was friendly and helpful. The place looks a bit fancy but it seems very laid back but with great service. Can't comment on the other food or drinks.

Allison Mollica

Could have better service but great spot for sidewalk dining and charm. Food was excellent.

varano three

Walked in. Terrific lunch - shakshuka, Bloody Mary, and excellent service. Sat outside enjoying the sun and people. Surprise dessert on the house. I’ll be back for sure.

Onie Gordon

First time there. Choose 2 eat there after theatre. Had the lamb shank. Excellent along with excellent service.

James Cullin

Great service. Even better food. I recommend the Trout.

Jacklin Altman

Overall, had a really great meal here. Though I wasn’t super impressed with the drinks available at brunch, all of the food was really delicious. The French onion soup is to die for, and the lobster tails, though very expensive, are delicious and well prepared. The lox bagel was very fresh and tasty, and the steak and eggs wasn’t bad, but I wouldn’t order it again. The desserts were delightful- especially the creme brulee! Service was prompt and friendly, and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant is really beautiful, with people bustling inside and out, it’s an awesome place to sit and enjoy a meal. I would definitely recommend checking this place out if you’re in the area!

Daniel Dubowitz

Staff were excellent and food was good

Bowei Ma

Looks good, but average cooking

Rick Soricelli

The food was excellent. Not too expensive either for New York. Great wine selection.

Kristy Wood

Great food, friendly service and pleasant atmosphere. Also, the croissants are amazing!!!!

Makai Roberson

This site is my number one site. Of all restaurants I know I like it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to that place. Whenever I want to go to a delicious lunch, this place comes first to my mind. Great and food and a rich menu.professional staff, and great vibes. Also, the bill is affordable. I praise this place with no hesitation.

Buddy Broad

Great service and the food was impeccably prepared.

Gordon Ham

This was the coolest French Restaurant I’ve ever been to. This was not your stereotypical French Restaurant that was stiff & formal. The food was refreshing & fun to eat. The servers make you feel as if you’ve known them forever. The prices were reasonable & my pork was great.

Jeffrey Denson

Marseille never dissappints. Great for brunch, lunch and dinner. Fast for pre-theater. Great wine list, awesome cocktails, but the food is the the real showstopper. Classic authentic preparations of standard classics that somehow feel modern and new. Friendly service, great lighting, airy ambience. There are so many places to eat in NYC, but I find myself coming back here over and over again.

mark francis

Great food with a wide drink selection. Candlelight at every table.

Christina Maiello

Came here for restaurant week with 4 friends. Staff is extremely nice. The ambiance of this cute French restaurant was comfortable and classy. The portions are big! The French onion soup was amazing! Best I’ve ever had. I also order fried lamb chops which were okay. I expected better from all the rave. All the deserts were amazing! Overall Marseille left a great impression with drinks, onion soup and deserts.

Mike_ A

The food and service is excellent here. I requested Prince for my party of 10 for a birthday celebration and he was off that night but the management and staff really gave us great experience and was very accomadating. Nice atmosphere and location for a good dining experience. Thank you all!

Nicole Lim

Really enjoyed the food here, had a nice dinner outside the restaurant, and the service was good..would recommend to others..

Julian Talbot

Lovely Parisian style cafe in the middle of the theatre district. Usually relatively quiet. Great food and service.

Joel Mullett Bracht

Yuck. Uninspired, flat, honest wait staff though

Susan Stefanick

Great place with delicious food!

Kirby Wadsworth

Meh. Hanger steak was tough and gamey. Onion soup was generic. Rolls were hard/stale. Service was slow/spotty. waiters barely spoke english.

Carola Berato

This is a nice French bistrò restaurant in the Midtown NYC area. I came here with a friend for dinner and we had a great time. Our entrees were delicious...we had steak fries and mafalda pasta, I would recommend sharing this two dishes! We also had a mushroom tart as appetizers..which was ok and ended the meal with a warm chocolate cake which, unfortunately, was nothing exceptional. Overall it was a good dinner, the service was very attentive and nice.

Noah Bacon-Angevine

Really nice and very well priced. Love the place and the staff keeps me coming back. Its amazing.

Tia LaPiana

Went here for lunch in June, and it was outstanding! Everyone at our table thought their dishes were delicious. Our server was Johnny, and he was very solicitous to ensure we were having an excellent time. I definitely want to come again!

T. Collins

This place had great food and great service. I highly recommend the French toast. It looks delicious and it tastes even better than it looks! They offer bottomless mimosas fur up to two hours with the purchase of food.

Cynthia Cohen

Delicious, accommodating and special. Loved it! Perfect for in between Harry Potter shows!

MichaelW

Had a lovely breakfast here. Very tasty. Great service. Very reasonable.

Bill Thomas

Love the food here. Portion sizes are just right and service is excellent.

Edna Banks

This could be one of the best restaurants in Manhattan. This place is hard to get in to make a reservation. It's a highly exclusive place. My friend knew someone that knew the owner so we got a reservation. This place is probably one of the most highly acclaimed restaurants in NY city right now. They have one of the most delicious steaks I have ever eaten. And they are known to be one of the best steak places in NY city right now. You may have to know someone to get a reservation, as someone said it may be invite only for now. The place is small and it's like sitting in someone's personal home.

thyrecia weaver

Cuisine was amazing!! Great service as well!!

Jean-Mathieu Saponaro

To be honest, it was just ok.. food was decent. But I got the raviolis, and the portion was very small. Like 9 raviolis. Other meals were much bigger. They tried to recreate a French brasserie look but they kind of didn't succeed. Then for a restaurant called Marseille, I was disappointed to not find any specialty from there such as Bouillabaisse on the menu. Last fault: photos from the Paris subway in the restroom. Really?!

Marina Kim

Bottomless brunch was good. The best part was actually my passionfruit mimosa ! It was so delicious ! The cheese platter for desert was nice too.

Hessa Falah

This restaurant is amaaazing as the experience was so great..I tried the breakfast 3 times there and every time I found something in the menu that kept me coming back! I loved the french style decor as you feel like in Paris once you enter plus the cool staff. It became a favorite on my 'worth going back to' list!

Caleb Stanford

Very happy that we went here for restaurant week. Highly recommend the Ricotta and Goat Cheese Tart appetizer, Spicy Cumin Lamb entree, and Blueberry Tart dessert.

Aimee Hayes

Delicious food and excellent customer service!

ryan fithian

Top notch service and food

Seamus Lewis

This place offers excellent service and delicious food. The best place in the city. The food served rapidly and the rates are reasonable. Recommended.

Braylon Massey

Superb atmosphere and very affable service. The menu was crisp and delightful. Will clearly recommend this spot to friends and family. Convenient prices and large portions. Great work.

Kathy D

Had a great brunch and tasty bottomless mimosas. Goat cheese tart was flaky flavorful and light. It was delicious. Salads were perfectly dressed, not too much but full of flavor. Would high recommend.

Rania Gabra
