After dinner, while waiting for our coats in a crowd, a drunk server aggressively put his arms around my girlfriend and shook her by her shoulders, and then claimed to have mistaken her for someone else and ducked off to the back. Extremely uncomfortable experience for us, and insanely inappropriate and unprofessional. We alerted the manager, just as a heads up, and he seemed concerned for us but didn’t make an effort to find the guy afterwards. The food was honestly pretty great, if pricey. Octopus and ribs were delicious. But we won’t be coming back, for obvious reasons.

Francis Stones

Very nice food, very nice drinks, very nice decor

Tommy Borchers

Tasty apps and I liked the steamed fish. Loud live music on a Monday night though was enough to make me leave without an after dinner coffee. Also found a lemon wedge on the table lamp that looked like it had been there for a week...

Cynthia Johnson

Good spot for tasty Portuguese food. It was so fresh. The service was sociable and attentive.

Mel Jiang

Great cocktail, not so much with food... Oyster's sauce is unique in a good way. Rest of the bar food feels like instant frozen food..

ginny karle

Fun bar, great food, terrific service. Try dumplings , octopus and wonderful selection from the bar.

What happened to this place?? :( I used to come here years ago for good food and chill, moody vibes. Tonight (on a Tuesday) it was like a booze cruise with bland food. Music started with Birtney Spears...OK no judgies. But then, the next hour was nothing but mainstream pop, chart topping woo-girl tracks from the same era. The entrees werent worth it either. The chicken was flavorless (but the sauce wasn't bad) and the fish, albeit a good sized portion, also lacked any depth of flavor. Real shame, won't be returning despite all the (other) fond memories.

Andreas Thomson

Get the whole fish. So good.

Alison Boncha

Our table got the whole fish, dumplings, two types of fried rice, coconut rice, the lobster noodles. This place did not disappoint in any way! Really well done, great service, and great flavors.

Enrico Migliaccio

very nice... would've never expected it from the outside!

José L. Rodríguez

Like the space downstairs for parties when djs are playing. The food is a typical melange of South East Asia meets Portugal with flavors that linger in the crowds pleasing space. Wines by the glass leave a lot to be desired.

Vanessa Verbosh

It was awesome! And delicious! Definitely coming back

Vanesa Beltrán

All about it: Bartenders, drinks, food, ambiance, service. A must.

Danielle Nash

Fabulous, good portion sizes very tasty food, fast tentative service. I recommend the flying solo cocktail. P.s. it's Asian(Chinese) not Portugese

Konstantinos Rizakos

Amazing atmosphere and high quality food. Interesting cocktails too, and not overpriced, considering how upscale the decor is. Very recommended for either drinks or dinner.

Abhilash Mohanty

Wonderful place to have food from the roots of Macao. Didn't know till I came here that Macao was a Portugese colony. The crispy whole fish is incredible. The juice it sits on is delicious. You can not go wrong with either the noodles or the fried rice. Dumplings are great too. It gets pretty crowded over the weekend. So, would advise to take a booking. Weekdays should be fine though.

Michael Kelly

Excellent atmosphere and impeccable service. A truly great place to bring guests or a date for cocktails.

Jim Hawley

Love this joint Best coctails

Dapo Iluyomade

Great drinks upstairs! Great dancing/music downstairs! Personally, I recommend being a little tipsy before you head downstairs

Macao Trading Co. is a nice spot for a date night early on in a new relationship or a night out with a bunch of friends -- awesome, inventive drinks with lots of tropical fruits and solid food that has a strong Asian fusion bent (but in an okay-to-good way, not in a PF Chang way). Cool ambiance with an opium den-like feel, and slightly aloof waiters. I was a big fan of the braised shisito peppers although the fried rice was bland in my opinion, and the burrata was...strange. Not sure burrata belongs in Asian cuisnine, or perhaps it was an off night. Mains will run you $30-ish, apps just shy of $20. Come here for a party and a fun time, but don't expect to fill up as portions are small.

ADRIAN GUTIERREZ

Amazing cocktails. Great vibes. There is always a party.

Jacklyn Liu

Very crowded with okay drinks. The price is comparable to other places in the area. They have a dancing area in the basement that opens in the evening. However, when ventured down there on a Saturday night, no one was dancing. There are better places to go.

Dor Ben David

Nice place for cocktails, Beautiful crowd

Coconut rice, noodles, and cocktails is what we come here for. Love all the exotic flavors!

Florian Dieckmann

Before there was Hong Kong, there was Macao as the first and last trading outpost of Europe. This heavily influences the cuisine of this Restaurant. The service is excellent, the cocktail choices are awesome and go beyond the usual suspects. Food is delicious.

Corey Limbowski

Food is pricey and poorly prepared. The dumplings were bland and sad. The lobster noodles costed a fortune - only to get a small tasteless lobster and a bowl of supermarket quality noodles. Their cocktails are original and good though, and despite a mediocre service, atmosphere is cheerful and fun. Just grab a drink and go

Jennifer Pesce

Head to the basement for great cocktails made by experienced and friendly bartenders, plus dance-worthy music. Fun for groups just south of Canal Street.

Abe Figueroa

Always love this place! The fire here is great and the kitchen is open almost until close, but the menu changes after 10 or 11pm. There's normally a small wait, but the bar is open for full menu and drinks. There's also another great feature here, and that is on the weekend the downstairs is open with a dance floor (crammed af) and downstairs bar and food is available as well- great time is the DJ is good.

Macao Trading is a busy bar and restaurant that is very lively. The decor to the bar is very rich and textured with eclectic features. A large bouquet of flowers dominates the space, while colorful ambient lighting sets the tone. The food is fusion and very delicious. Our group enjoyed the dumplings, lobster noodles, and burrata. One thing I'd like to point out is the high quality of the wait staff. One person in our party had a peanut allergy and ordered a dish where peanuts were added as a topping. When the dish arrived, it appeared as though there were peanuts on the dish. When the waitress noticed this (on her own, before the person in our party even noticed), the waitress confirmed that there were no nuts on the dish and that the kitchen had substituted sunflower seeds instead. I was impressed by the waitress remembering the allergy and I'm glad she was proactive. With the bar located out front, the restaurant is quite noisy. This is a great place if you want to have some laughs and celebrate.

Brandii Stuart

Wonderful experience! Great atmosphere, amazing food and cocktails. Bartenders, host, and waiters are extremely friendly and attentive and make you feel so welcomed. Will be back again and maybe a few more times after that

Went in for drinks only. The place was so packed that it was nearly impossible to move. Staffs were overall very rude, probably due to the fact it was so overcrowded, but that's not an excuse since it is their fault for not crowd controlling. Drinks are over priced, and the tip on my tab was over charged, which added to the cost... I guess the ambiance is their thing and the food looked decent, so I will refrain from placing a one star. Overall, I was not pleased with my experience and I won't be returning in the future.

Jessica Wang

Really cool place with good drinks! There's also a downstairs that often has DJ'd music. Come with friends and enjoy! One of the few places that's quite happening on a weekday evening. I hope to try the food next time.

Patrina Huff

Upscale dining with good eats and good cocktails.

Olivier Manhattan

Food is pricey and poorly prepared. The dumplings were bland and sad. The lobster noodles costed a fortune - only to get a small tasteless lobster and a bowl of supermarket quality noodles. Their cocktails are original and good though, and despite a mediocre service, atmosphere is cheerful and fun. Just grab a drink at the bar but do not eat there.

Steve C 032

Definitely a very trendy and pricey place, but the food and service are so good, the prices don't bother me. I've always stated that as long as one was capable of backing up the price with quality, I have no problem paying for it. The mushroom and truffle croquettes are so good! The lobster noodles were delicious too. Even the veggie fried rice was good. The blush maiden drink was great. We really dig everything about this place. The nightclub below is so cool!

geovanni espinal

Great drinks and food bartenders are on point attentive don't miss a beat great place.

Joyel Abdul

Expensive drinks. Good ambience. Cozy. Love it.

LA B

Great spot to have a cozy and lovely dinner. All the appetizers and meals we ordered we're delicious. Me and guests shared all the meals so I got to try quite a few dishes.

Angie Crowe

Great place for sharing dishes. Cool environment.

Hilary Tunstall

Really a completely delicious meal. I was surprised at how delicious everything was and how many amazing flavours came together. Ordered whole fish, dumplings, coconut rice and short ribs.

So tonight, Dana and I took my friend and his new girlfriend who just flew in from FL, out to dinner to Macao Trading Co on Church St in SOHO. The place was cute, had a nice charm and the food was actually very good....but ....I was appalled and disappointed that only after 2 hours, despite having a reservation, and ordering over $305 dollars worth in food and drink, was asked to leave to accommodate incoming evening reservations. I expressed my dissatisfaction and thought it was disgusting customer service. We were all having such a good time, and this certainly changed the mood at the table...for me primarily. The manager did offer to buy a round a drinks at the bar which we then asked to just take it off the bill which he did end up doing. I was very upset though and will certainly not recommend this place, or even consider visiting again. Macao Trading Co....you lost good customers this evening. A shame.

Joules Magus

Delicious food and nice atmosphere. I really enjoyed the space and the lighting. Definitely coming back again.

Jeffrey Martin

Awesome cocktails.. Cool ambiance.

Christopher Yuan

The interior decoration of this place particularly stands out even with the dim lighting throughout the restaurant. The food is mainly fusion Chinese cuisine but actually tastes very authentic. The African Chicken and Crispy Whole Fish are fantastic. It is a great place for a date and even a small gathering of friends. The atmosphere of the restaurant is lively and vibrant. Can get a little loud but that isn’t a huge issue. Food is unique and delicious. Will be coming back for sure.

Angel Espejo

Great mixed drinks and good music. Busy on weekends

Adrian John

Drinks were amazing. Place has an incredible Asian theme that I really can’t put into words. Came for cocktails, lighting is exquisite. Also right across from The Roxy which is my favorite hotel in TriBeCa.

Preeti Singh

Good vibe. A little too crowded.

CYNTHIA SPICER

My favorite Saturday night / Sunday morning spot. The crowd is mixed and happy. The music is a little something for everyone. Always a song I haven't heard in forever. I love sitting at corner of the bar and watch the energy on the room... vibrant until the end. And the bar staff is a pleasure to watch in action. The way they make drinks is sexy

Kenjuan Nichols

Absolutely love this spot. Great atmosphere and excellent cuisine.

Nuni Nyakoon

The location is so cute. Perfect for a date or an after hours dinner with friends. Delicious food and great service!

Muhammad Ahmed

Went here pretty late on a weekend night and it was bustling with energy. The interior of this place is beautiful. Dark wood, detailed craftsmanship, and dim lighting make it truly seem like your in the gambling hub of Macao and in the back there must be a high rollers poker game going on. Expect to pay a premium due to the neighbourhood, however, the food was great and from a technical perspective, flawless. It’d be a great spot to start a night out with food and drinks.

Renny Itwaru

Wow! I had no idea what I was walking into but I was shocked at the amount of detail was put into the design of the place--absolutely beautiful. Cocktails! Wow! There was a coconut milk cocktail that blew my mind. Food, damn!! Everything we had was delectable--from appetizer all the way to dessert.

Mildred Planas

I was disappointed that they no longer have sangria on the menu, and don't have any other pitcher drinks to share. However, the cocktail we tried was good (Flying Solo) and the food was delicious. We ordered a few appetizers for the table and each person ordered an entree. A bit pricey, but it's NYC. Love the atmosphere and friendly service.

Nick Losardo

Space looks so so so good. I just love getting wasted there!!

Juan Pablo Baene

Nice drinks

Loh Phat

Romantic Savory. Sultry. Nuff said.

Jon Arnold

This place is always a good time. Gets a little crowded but never have a problem getting drinks.

Levan Sidiani

I loved the place and bartenders... question i had was: how do you mix water with that sink

Kameron A

Good after dinner spot. Crowd and staff were fun along with the selection of tunes. Didn't try any food but great hangout for drinks

Jennifer Weber

portuguese food and the atmosphere at this place is super good. I think I might become a regular. This place has a good atmosphere. Menu is similar to a restaurant in El Paso I liked.

Garrett Burke

Fun setting, delicious food, great cocktails, friendly staff - everything is coming up Millhouse!!!

Aaron Geerlings

Solid experience, service and food were solid. Nothing to rave about but nothing bad either. I would return.
