Meredith Wiech

Great food and lovely atmosphere

Ron Quilhot

Wonderful small French cuisine in a great neighborhood. Flavorful traditional menu choices and excellent wine selection.

Carmella Sumter

I honestly love their dishes and customer service, good area right next to my residence. The cashiers are always helpful. I highly recommend this place.

David Sproul

Outstanding service and delicious food ! We had the Seafood Bisque, Beef Bourguignon and their famous French Onion Soup Burger from the Pre Frix after 7:30 menu. We have NOT had better in Paris. You will love it!

Stephen BARTELL

Excellent service. Very good food. One of the better martinis I've had....smooth!

Joseph P

Tried this place already with my friend and I am hooked since then. I enjoyed the excellent atmosphere and delicious food and drinks. Kudos.

Alex Dripchak

Seems like a cliche tourist spot but it’s actually very good and the English muffin burger is worth every award it got. It makes it into my top 20 dishes in the city.

Tassey Russo

Such a wonderful place to step away from the hustle and bustle of this mid-town area. Lower lights and light music make it very welcoming and a great place to sit and converse. Service was excellent. 5 stars on that. Appetizers were delicious and the entrees superb. Dessert less so and that took a star off the rating.

Judith Pierre-Dazle

Great food and service!!!

Kasen Butler

Had a great experience in this spot with my girlfriend. The food arrives fast and the customer service is just good. Prices are reasonable.

Su McWilliams

Everything was absolutely delicious!

Arjun Cohen

Awesome and fresh food, I loved the vibes this spot has, and the staff members were helpful. Will definitely visit here again.

Jon Artates

I went here with mom and had a nice brunch prix fix. The food I ordered was okay. The service was excellent. Price was high but isn't everything else nowadays. Overall I give it 4 stars out of 5.

William Lim

Definitely overpriced for what it’s worth. The glasses in which the water was served were dirty. Appetizers and entrees were okay at best, but nothing really special about them; this is a fairly simple menu after all. The salmon was fine. The desserts, however, were abominable. One of the worst crème brûlées I have ever eaten in my life. Strawberries were tasteless, and the apple tart.. No comment. The staff was friendly.... or friendly enough, but even so, overall a pretty bad experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone, unless they were absolutely desperate for anything somewhat reminiscent of French food close to Times Square. This place is definitely a tourist trap, and there are much better places to dine at in Manhattan!!! I am offended as a French person.

Katharina Oberdiek

Awesome place! I don't even know how to describe how awesome this place is in words! Amazing staff, super delicious food (it really blew my mind), and very welcoming and cozy ambience!

Deanna Chuy

Excellent pre-theater lunch. Pre-fixe selections all superb. Returned today after a less than perfect experience recently. So glad I did-it’s still one of my favs.

Jett Cooley

Definitely a place worth visiting, the food is excellent and fresh, the cost is affordable and it is regularly clean here. Highly recommended.

Dasha mama.uly

hm, let me say it, its was experience of really expensive waist of money... My first time trying dish ratatouille- mmm, didnt like it,(, not much taste to it. Then we ordered my favorite beef stew(its had fancy name, sorry cant remember) but- if you like very very strong vine taste in you meat, then you'll like it- me Not much..., French onion soup- burn my tongue, it was so hot, not sure what is wrong with temperature but I had to wait another 15 min to cool off. So bottom line it's nice cozy place, but I would look for something else. Didnt tried desert wasnt ready to take a chance))))). But the service people was super nice, our servers were patient kind and polite.Making our very comfortable not to get upset about leaving full plates on the table)))))

Louis Mangieri

The food was fabulous, as always ! The service was very professional and efficient. And now I discovered that every Monday and Thursday evenings there is an excellent Jazz combo. Wow, you just cannot beat that.

Jenny C

Great spot for a pre show dinner. They have a nice 3 course pre-fixe dinner option for $43. Recommend the escargot and seafood bisque appetizers.

Jesse Herndon

Holy this place is good. Have had multiple dinners here and every time I’m blown away. Obviously the infamous burger is a must but the staff takes it to another level. Thanks guys see you again soon!

Rostislav Shternberg

Absolutely great food and service

Joseph Turner

French onion burger was excellent. The muscles special was a traditional preparation and was perfectly executed. The deal for the pre fixe menu was great!

Dora Davidoff

Good service. Food not French authentic. Just regular American style. Nothing special.

debra hunter

Amazing restaurant. Been going for 4 years. Always great food & service.

Pete Large

Best burger in the world! The French Onion Soup Burger. Once you try it, you'll know. Service by Natalia was exceptional.

micheline fortier

Great food, Great atmosphere and good service. Large portions for a French restaurant, many choices of traditional dishes very flavorful. Will be back!!

Rodolfo Archbold

Lamb chops were excellent . Potato soup was good. Ceaser salad and bread pudding dessert were disappointing

Noel Laurente

Food is always good. Good service too.

Jasper Gebhardt

Senses slow down, you forget time and place. Perfect escargot and a gorgeous boeuf bourguignon.

John Vigorito

The French onion soup does not look like the picture on their web site . I particularly did not like it. And 13 bucks for a cup of soup is outrageously expensive

Geni k

Great food. Great service

Shawn Benesh

Awesome burger, great service, and was a great spot to take the parents as they visited nyc

Donald Christensen

Old-timey, but decent French food circa 1950.

Pamela Mcquay

It was delicious and service excellent. There was a handicapped person in my party and you all could not have been more kind and accommodating. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience.

Adam Siegel

You can never ever go wrong going to this restaurant great theater package pricing for dinner awesome food been there many times can't wait to go back hospitality is top-notch

Euan de Kock

Very friendly, nice ambience, good food.

Tatyana Cherkasskaya

I was very disappointed with this restaurant. The food was mediocre, the drinks had barely any alcohol in them and the service was "unobtrusive". The place was cramped and, frankly, could use some updates. I would rank this place higher, if the prices were lower. But for what they charge, you can have much better food and experience somewhere else.

Bonnie Ramon

This place is the best hidden gem in theater district to get a 3 course meal for $40. Great french food, not pretentious!

Barbara Hargraves

Great restaurant. I enjoyed the pre-theater 3 course menu for $35. I had escargot for an appetizer and the seafood crepe for the entree which left no room for dessert. I must say I was tempted to over indulge as the offerings looked great. Service was well paced. Not rushed.

Esther Ratcliffe

Great experience...great food...great service staff!

Mimi He

French onion soup and the Chef special burger is the best. They have both lunch and dinner special that are very decent price.

Stan Rosenblum

Price fixed menu is very reasonable for 3 courses. I believe we paid around $43.00 per person. Food and service was very good. Owners are friendly and appreciative for our patronage. Very nice experience.

Antoinette Danzine

Waiters were all wonderful! Food superb!! Escargots is a must try

Jay Sternfield

The food and staff are both amazing, as well as the atmosphere. We had the prix fixe menu, which has lots of great options on it. Highly recommend the escargot and frog legs, even if you've never tried either. Their famous French Onion Soup Burger is also fantastic.

Donna Corrado

Great atmosphere, excellent value, you will feel comfortable and satisfied. I've been here a few times, I look forward to a few more.

Nicholas Paldino

I went here strictly for the French Onion Burger, basically French onion soup in burger form. It also is the only two-time NYC Wine and Food festival burger bash winner. The ambiance is ok; it's a small, *almost* cramped space. The …

Karen Blewitt

Good and service were excellent! Price was good too!

Geo H

Great menu and authentic atmosphere friendly staff

mindy logar

The restaurant was great. The bisque was delicious. For the main course, the pork chop was juicy and cooked perfectly. We did the pre movie menu but didn't have time for our dessert. The wait staff let us come back after the show. We went back and the peach melba was awesome.

Andrew Daly

Nice atmosphere and great service and food, but a little pricey.

R Vazquez

Definitely a spot worth stopping by, the food is good and fresh, the rates are affordable and it is regularly clean there. 5 stars.

Gordon Friedrich

I have eaten here before with better luck. This night was rough. The salad was drowning in water, salad spinner please. My cocktail was delivered well after my entree, I had to ask for it twice. It was not worth the wait. Maybe it was the rain or Sunday night druthers but I will not be back and recommend others to keep walking. You can do better and so can they.

Kathy McGowan

Everything was delicious! Four of us. Four different entrees. All outstanding!

Matan Radin

such a sweet place.

Lauren Weimer

The French onion soup burger is one of my favorite burgers ever. Its a must try! The service is always amazing, and the food is always delicious. Run dont walk.

Joshua Bruner

Mediocre food, incompetent service. Decent atmosphere.

Jim Blinn

I went for lunch and ordered the trout almondine. While the presentation was really neat - a fish shaped plate - the dish was relatively undistinguished. The fish looked nice but tasted previously frozen. The bed of mashed potatoes and beans was fine but not the focus of the dish.

Aurora Caamano

The food is so delicious;, the service is very attentive; and, the desserts are just wonderful; What I rarely experience is a great cup of coffee - until today. The coffee was excellent! I had to ask the manager for the name of the coffee …

Nancy D'Anna

Service, food and atmosphere all top notch.

Erin Dick

We came here before a play for their priced three course meal. Food was great, service was very friendly. We spent 1.5 hours there for the meal. Made a reservation but got there early and sat on the patio, the bar is also available if you don't have a reservation. Definitely recommend for French cuisine!

Arthur Shatz

Wonderful food. Salads are delicious as is the lobster bisque. Seafood crepe and duck a l'orange are to die for. Peach melts is yummy dessert. Great for pre-theatre.

Mark Penti

Pris fixe menu with excellent food, only drawback is the staff kept bumping into me while I was dining. Friendly staff.

Lauren Melendez

Wonderful service and food. The live Jazz band was great and added to the relaxing atmosphere.

Michael Chen

Onion burger bun tasted burn, so does onion soup cheese. The chicken entree tasted great but leg part is very dry.

W Y

We all ordered the french onion soup burger. It’s my friend’s favorite burger. But the other 2 of us thought it was under seasoned. The onions were sweet, the cheese was sweet, it needed something salty to cut through all this. Also, I’d prefer brioche or the Australian style roll to the English muffin. But burger itself was cooked nicely. Creme caramel was good. Bread pudding was ok. I’d skip the chocolate mousse. Nice decor and good staff

Tim Harlow

Great evening out with friends. The Coq au von was delicious.

ROBIN Humphreys

Love the Duck l'arange. La Rivage never disappoints!

Elinor Sebastian

Just had dinner with my wonderful friend who is like a mother. Our waiter (I don't want to butcher the name but he is Syrian) was probably the best waiter I've ever had. He had a wonderful sense of humor, checked in often but not in a way …

Janine Schaefer

Everything was delichious the staff is five star.

Fady Kerko

This place is simply beautiful. The Food is top notch. Flavor flavor flavor. Did the $33 prix fix meal. Clams were baked to perfection crisp and fresh. The french onion soup burger as advertised and an award winner was exactly that. One of …

Brixton Arias

I regularly come buying some food in this spot. I love the fast service and well cooked food. Great work.

mitzi eberhardt

Great French country food at a reasonable price. Service is great.

MARK TURITZ

Very small restaurant. Food very good. Drink prices very high that includes a soda at $4.00 with no refills. Eat there as the food is very good and drink water. Go to a local bar for cocktails either before or after for cocktails.

Shamae Price

The food is always great!! The staff is very friendly. It's easy to get to and they bring your food in a timely manner. 1st time I went there it was great. Second time I went there we saw a roach. Probably wont go back there.

Kann Kano

My favorite restaurant! I lv never been dissapointed with a meal here! Very good service too! The french onion soup is yummy and loaded with cheese! Im happy they no longer charge extra for the seafood crepe and now give it as a meal! That is my favorite meal their! They used to make a delicious risotto with cheese and mushrooms, but they past couple years I haven't seen it, I miss that dish, however they have many other delicious dishes

Kevin Higgins

What a wonderful dinner, stopped in on a whim before a show and will be back next trip.

David Shearer

Amazing Staff!! Christmas night no reservation just out walking and came across this amazing restaurant. They were full, but yet found a great spot at the bar for me and my girlfriend. The food was amazing (1st time having French) but the menu looked great. Great wine and beer selection along with delicious desserts. Again amazing staff for sitting us so fast without having reservations. Will definitely be a place i visit on many more visits to NY. Bartender 5 stars also!

Susette Kaufold

Enjoy there Seafood Crêpe...

Hoyt Neal, Jr

We will be back. Never encountered a one price only Pre-Fix only menu. What if I have no need for a dessert, or no business having one? In a party of six, some dishes were liked, some were not. In search of a protein meal had to dig through too much fat to get to too little fat. Mac and cheese too complex and the hamburger was dry. Service was uneven.

Andrew Kassouf

The service was amazing, the food was delicious, and combined with the atmosphere it brought me back to my trips to France. The frog legs were a delicious way to start our meal. They are just like chicken wings but with a slight flakey white fish texture. The duck was amazing and perfectly finished with the orange sauce. My wife enjoyed the cordon blue which was prepared in layers which was different than her experience in the States. She has not been to France physically but with the meal she was transported there. We finished the meal with the most amazing bread pudding we have had.

rr

Very nice French style restaurant up the street from a basement theatre in St. Luke’s Chapel where we saw a play. The food was fantastic and so was the service and atmosphere. The price was reasonable for the quality, my only complaint is that they charged us to get a refill on the pop, which they have on tap at the bar. Just seems a little cheap when they’re only paying cents for the pop syrup. My friend who is in the restaurant business, who was with me for dinner, was completely shocked that they would charge for a refill when it wasn’t coming from cans. Nonetheless, it was a good dining experience, we liked the band, and the service was excellent. I would go back again.

Suzanne Millan

Good food, good price. Cozy nice place. Good service. The only thing is can you get a la carte for dinner? I don't know because we fell in line with the prix fixe, which was great. BUT theu could throw in a cup of coffee with it!

cameron ives

Great food! Great jazz! Great atmosphere! Alone in Times Square for a conference. This place was just what the doctor ordered after a long busy day. Wish my wife could have joined me. She would love it too. Just the kind of place you expect to find in Manhattan. Real escargot.

Anthony C Brown

Friendly atmosphere, great location, good wine and good food... What's not to like?

douglas banik

Food is quite good --excellent by theater district standards. Prix fixe menu is varied and a bargain. Nice atmosphere, relatively quiet. Good enough that I returned a second time.

Catherine Forker

Very good French food..good service & prices.

Barbara Mesnick

Excellent service, fabulous food. One of the best restaurants in the Broadway area.

Thomas Grady

The food & service is excellent ! This our third time eating there ! It has become our favorite restaurant in the theater district!

N S

We went there for a real quick dinner before a musical. Knowing we only had 30min, they did a great job by serving very fast. Really appreciated their flexibility. :) Food was of course great. Seafood crepe was like a cram chowder.

Bonnie P.

I would give 2 1/2 stars. The place was filled with theater goers around 6-7:30pm. The place's very small, space between the tables were narrow. We came after that crowd but the service was still bad. Our waiter wasn't attentive. When we asked for suggestion between 2 red wines, the waiter suggested another more pricier one. After we didn't take his suggestion, he never came back to us. It switched to another waitress which she was much nicer. It took a while before appetizers were served and even much longer before main courses came. We thought it's a French restaurant after all, so we waited. But surprisingly the dessert came very fast after they cleaned up our plates. I think the food was only mediocre, not worth the price.

Meryl Katz

Excellent dining experience for pre-theater! Great service and lots of choices. A French onion burger was awesome!

Lesley Shneier

The food is delicious. Attentive service. The prix fixe theatre dinner is a good deal

Nic Bradford

excellent food, excellent service, excellent atmosphere. trois excellents!

James Flavin

The Le Rivage French onion soup burger is my favourite in NYC! Staff are polite and courteous and willing to adapt the menu to suit my needs (I asked for veggies instead of fries).

james vilaichit

I had the French Onion burger. I've eaten many burgers, MANY burgers. Without thinking I know it's easily in my top 5 burgers of all time, probably top 3. I paused for a moment to contemplate my burger history and it's definitely top 3. Anyway moving on. It was cooked perfectly medium rare. (Side note if you eat a burger cooked any more than med-rare, you're a filthy animal.) It was served on an English muffin which I think is becoming over done, but it works very well for this particular burger. There are two types of cheese on this burger, the first is fried like a flat mozzarella stick, the second is so gooey it's bordering on being a sauce. The onions, oh the onions! I'm not a huge fan of onions, as I've gotten older though I've come to tolerate them, usually I'll slide most of them off, leaving a few behind and go about eating my burger. Not with this burger, I took a first bite with the proportion of onions as they were given to me and I'm glad that I did. They onions were perfectly cooked, sauteed into a caramelized onion delight. I've never written so much about onions in my life. But that's not all, after all that deliciousness that is packed into the burger, you think there can't possibly be any more... but then broth from the French onion soup is poured on to the burger. Magnificent.

Best pre theatre Broadway French restaurant. Try it, you'll like it
