Service was great and the duck was cooked to perfection (medium rare)!
Nice French restaurant in a cozy Village setting
A very french, very traditional French cafe/bistro. Highly recommend if you want a taste of France in the heart of the west village. The food is simple but very tasty, the fries were particularly impressive. The brunch cocktail pitcher was very good!
Outstanding food and service in an intimate setting. Get the beef stew.
Delicious, found just by chance with a passer bye saying best food.
Best staff in New York!
I just had dinner here and it was wonderful. I am gluten free and dairy free and my waiter went out of his way to make sure I got a meal I can eat. So now I have a go to French place! Everyone who is gluten free and dairy free should go here.
Cosy little bistro. Bartenders are friendly, making for good conversations at the bar, with them and other customers. Everything I've tried so far on the menu is good.
Try the truffle pizza! The best I've had in a while
This is authentic French food of highest standard! Highly recommend! Thanks for C’est le bomb hospitality!
Classic
I have known the owner Michael since he was a young waiter at his father’s place Tout va BIEN on W 51st (also incredible). Le Baratin is probably the best authentic French bistro in NYC. The food is amazing ever single time I go and I am remembering dining with Michael and his father for more than50 years
Great food good ambiance
Cozy, cheerful staff.. different from other French spots in the city. Authentic and unpretentious place to just unwind and enjoy a hearty meal. Baguette and butter were amazing. Listen and try the specials too! Steak frites was the perfect portion and the duck was just about the best duck you can get get. Mashed potatoes were delicious too!
I really enjoyed Le Baratin. It was a very friendly and fun atmosphere. The burger I had was by far the best burger I've ever eaten! I tried snails for the first time ever and loved them! The red wine was amazing! I highly recommend Le Baratin!
This new French restaurant has superb food, an intimate atmosphere and a welcoming staff. The first time there I was escorted to a seat at the bar by Michael one of the owners. I had salmon for dinner. It was cooked to just the right temperature, served with asparagus tied with a piece of bacon, ratatouille and a roasted tomato. I also have tasted the duck and their amazing burger. Finish off with a chocolate crepe. You can't go wrong with this combination of gracious service, friendly patrons, and great food.
Very good! Quick service, easy to get a reservation, and friendly staff. Atmosphere is cozy - tight spaces, and a little bit loud like another reviewer stated. Definitely a place to try out.
Intimate and cozy atmosphere; if you're looking for a place where French locals go to mingle and tell raunchy jokes at the bar, this is it - in a good way!
Great place good atmosphere. Beautiful staff and the food was exquisite.
A friend and I stopped by for brunch and it was perfect. Good food and friendly and attentive service. The quiche is probably the best I have ever had. We moved to the bar after we were done and ended up spending most of the afternoon. Definitely coming back for dinner.
Lively little place with excellent food.
Duck with fig sauce was delicious. Creme brulee also amazing. Staff very friendly. Highly recommended.
I've loved Le Baratin since my first time in August of 2013. I had the chocolate mousse and I kind of regret it. Because I'm not from NY and I have been craving it for the past 4 years. While the great food and vibe hasn't changed since my first time, the mousse unfortunately did. But that wasn't a bad thing because this newer mousse? With tiny flecks of delicious chocolate? Is equally as delicious. My goodness, they seem to get it right every time. But that wasnt all I had. I got a moscow ule with gin instead of vodka and it was sublime. And their salmon burger? If you can't think of what to get, TRUST ME when I say you GOTTA get the salmon burger. The food was amazing and the vibe was cultured chill like I've never seen before. I gotta say; Le Baratin is still the same amazing as 4 years ago. And I don't think I'll make it that long again before I cave and come back..
Casual friendly small cozy French place.
Food tasted great. Good selection of wine and friendly table service. Would come again. Waiter offered us drinks to finish our meal and even gave us a small desert cake for my friends birthday. Would come again if you are looking for a home like French meal.
This is a great spot. Normal people. Good food. Good drinks. Great staff.
Food was delicious and staff was courteous. It seems that the place is popular with those who live in the neighborhood
(Translated by Google) Very friendly welcome. We tested the burger with camembert and tartare: delicious! A great moment! (Original) Accueil très sympathique. Nous avons testé le burger au camembert et le tartare : délicieux ! Un excellent moment !
Great food. Great staff
Great food!!!
" Delicious food & Exquisite service " The food was excellent and the stuff very friendly and helpful.
The gnocchi I had were good. The place is a little cramped. Ok service.
Overcooked bad tasting burger, limp salad dressed heavily. Wont repeat
If you have ever been to Paris, and are longing for the French bistro feel again, LeBaratin is the place for you. The vibe is very French, the food is delicious and of course the wine is great. But what I like most about LeBaratin is the staff. As a shy single woman that likes to dine alone at the bar, I knew this was my new regular spot after my first visit. The waitstaff introduced me to all the regulars and quickly made me feel like family. Even tho I can't speak a lick of French, I am hoping that if I hang out at LeBaratin enough I will be fluent in no time. But there is a trick to great service..... be nice!!! If you are nice to the waitstaff, they will bend over backwards for you. This goes for anywhere, but the French really don't like obnoxious behavior. My favorite dishes are the baked Brie, mussels, salmon, steak frites and the skate. And when I'm feeling really indulgent I love the charcuterie, it's so good. And the chocolate mousse is killer!!
Good ambiant!
Solid menu but a bit cramped and noisy for dinner. Would recommend for an early evening meal of drinks after work.
Great French Bistro with decent price for the location. Delicious Beef tartare! Place is a bit small so make sure to reserve. If you go there during the US Open you might see some French tennis players feasting.
This place sure knows how to please their clients. Constantly with a very kind approach. The food is fairly priced, regularly fresh and neat.
U can't go wrong with any dish u order!
Great place, lovely atmosphere and excellent food. Highly recommend it
Solid French bistro. Wait for our table was much longer than maître d' had promised, but they made it up to us with free glasses of wine for our party of 4 and free glasses of champagne for us at the end. Impressive service!
Authentic french food; French owners and guests. Great atmosphere.
excellent restaurant
Heerlijke Baratin trio, obers doen echt frans aan.
(Translated by Google) Very good, very popular hipe NY, run by Breton, very nice, (Original) Très bon, lieux très prisé hipe de NY, tenu par des bretons, très sympa,
Really nice dining experience, interesting take on some classic fresh love French dishes. Cosy atmosphere and good service. Real bistro feel and you won't come away feeling hungry...
Great local spot with a casual vibe.
Amazing restaurant. Great food, great vibes, great service. The drinks are strong (huge plus) and the baked brie is a MUST. Definitely will return and will be recommending others to visit this establishment.
I have become a regular at this amazing bistro that has now been open for more than a year. The steak tartare is probably the best I have had anywhere and the mussels and steak frites are always excellent. The escargots definitely keeps me coming back. For the entree I ordered the duck with a fig sauce and it was perfect. It tasted like a filet. The staff consistently does an excellent job with wine recommendations. I will be back soon!
Wonderful place! Amazing food! Wonderful service.
Great place !
Small French bistro with honest fare.
This I my "go-to" place for great drinks, French food, and fun people!
Burger is just ok. Beer & wine only. But nice staff!
A truly outstanding little restaurant that perfectly fits in the Village's atmosphere. We went there with a few friends and had excellent (european level) food, the tartar, coq au vin and the crem brulee´ were really good. I highly recommend that you go to this place before it becomes incredibly popular and expensive!
First time here - great place and truly French in the most positive way. Attentive with the right attitude- love it. Will come back.
Amazing food and cozy atmosphere, really enjoyed it.
Great steak tartar and good appetizers. A bit noisy but awesome place for good food and large parties. I wouldn't recommend it for a romantic dinner. Needs some improvement on the wine list. Duck and the steaks were also very tasty. Loved the mussels.
Excellent food and superb neighborhood chic vibe. I love coming here.
I came here on a recommendation from a friend. And everything she conveyed to me was true: the food had a real French feel and the cocktail and wine list was perfectly matched to the food selection. Our waiter was incredible: very attentive, polite, and accommodating as I have a food allergy.
The meat is amazing! The ambiance is great and the service is perfect. Very friendly staff and very professional. Their food is delicious. I highly recommend it!
Asked kindly by the waiter just after paid : "could you free up?" ... pleasant moment but i stay on the end...
Great food and ambience
Love it! Good food especial the steak, very cozy....
A group of six of us recently went here and had a great time. I decided to try it after a friend told me about it. The menu has something for everyone. To start we ordered a few apps to share. The salads and mussel were perfect. Everyone was really happy with their entrees. I had the duck with the mashed potatoes. Delicious! Definitely try some of the homemade desserts. Staff was friendly and welcoming. We never felt rushed. Would definitely recommend. Excellent location, staff and ambiance.
Weekday Dinner: Gracious host, stiff drinks, delicious food, excellent servers, all in a loud, tight, claustrophobic space.
Excellente French food, great atmosphere. Michel, the owner is very friendly. Highly recommend!!!!
Great place , Fantastic food and great service.
Inexpensive French food
Great atmosphere and service
Great food and spectacular service. Amazing how smooth the engine is running there given how new this restaurant is. Be sure to try the burger with foie gras. It's quite possibly the most delicious burger I've ever had. The dessert crepes are also pretty amazing. Looking forward to my next meal here!
Clean French. Very good.
Always the best
Came here with another family for brunch, 4 adults and 4 kids. We were late for our reservation and they still took us which was nice, but unfortunately the rest of the meal suffered from a really rude waiter. The food was slow, and when a couple who'd arrived after us got their food first, we asked to check on ours and were told "it's coming, it takes time." Fair point, but why go out of your way to make us feel bad for asking? My eggs and spinach gratin were delicious but cold in the center, and I asked for them to heat them up a little more. I can't think of another time in my life I've sent food back honestly, but it seemed like it would be so easy to fix. After 15 minutes, I asked after my food, since everyone else was finishing up, and the waiter was sarcastic again, muttering and commenting as he walked away, visibly annoyed. It was just so unnecessary and demeaning. I won't be back.
Great food and super comfortable for a relaxed meal
Had a lovely birthday dinner here! The restaurant is pretty small but so cozy and cute. The decor really gives you a French feel and many of the servers are actually French. The food was out of this world. We started with the baked brie which is to die for. I really wanted to order more. I then had the salmon while my mom ordered the gnocchi and we had a side of truffle fries. The salmon and gnocchi were cooked to perfection and the truffle fries were great. Overall this place was outstanding! I definitely wanna come back here for brunch one day.
Very nice place, fantastic friendly ambiance and great food. The place is quite small though, and crowded.
As always Fabulous..
One of the best place to eat in NY
Great menu, terrific food & service, as good as France
Good comfort French food. Good value brunch
Review for late night - you know when there are people dancing on the chairs to amazing music that you are going to have a good time here. Highly recommended for the music, service, and strong drinks!
Very cozy spot and the mood in the dining area is great for date nights. With dim lighting and cozy seating its a great spot for it. Had the mussels last night and its was cooked just right, sweet and light. Did enjoy the house salad with a peppery dressing which I never had before. Will definetley go back again to try the steak which the table next to us had and very tempting for me to change my order.
Great French bistro. Cozy, tasty food, good wine, great energy.
Delicious appetizers and amazing entrees. Ordered everything on the menu and it was excellent! Dessert was also fabulous: creme brûlée and chocolate mousse, top notch!
Awesome food
Le Baratin means "smooth talker" who can BS about anything, like a clever fox. Therefore, their logo contains cute and fashionable fox. They also had a cute fox on the top their bar. Loved that little touch. The inside was bright, larger than I thought it would be, even though it was not a huge space. It had a bar to the left, right by the entrance, as this is more than just a restaurant but also a bar where you can enjoy some beers and wines. I love the interior of this place, with lots of antique trays, arts, and signs. The wall was painted warm pastel yellow, with part of it covered with old-fashioned tiles that matches the wall paint color. The wall on the right side was exposed red brick, creating that cozy atmosphere. For food, we ordered Croque Madame and Le Burger Baratin. They were pretty darn great! They both came with pommes frites and salad. I liked how they just came with them, instead of "choice of fries or salad." They were big portions, so we didn't have any room left for dessert. Maybe next time. I would love to go back again for more of their simple and traditional French bistro fare. Everything was really good, and the female server was super nice and sweet. And the fact that she was French added our French brunch experience. If you want some French food at comfy, relaxing cute little cafe, give them a try, and make sure to bring your partner before someone else does! Amazing place
Totally French food and atmosphere. Thank you (Mike) Michel for treating us like kings in such as special occasion for us.
Great Atmosphere
Amazing french restaurant , nice staff and great food ! what else ?!
Really delicious food in quaint space
in this small, cozy authentic French Bistro, the food is well portioned( large) and delicious.Appetizers shared was a beautiful and tasty salad de chevre as well as the baked brie( also with a fresh salad) and last, everybodys favorite, the croque bites...YUM! Our main courses were possibly better. A simple grilled large NY Strip/fritte , a Filet mignon special in a beautiful dark sauce accompanied by large portion of mashed potatoes and string beans.( didnt get a taste my nephew ate is so fast!). The Poulet Roti was a terrific plate of food and the magret de canard was a large , medium rare breast of duck with mashed and string beans. The bistro has maybe 40 seats, so it gets a bit loud and it is close quarters but the vibe is wonderful, the food even better.
Un accueil!|des mets!et le son ....
Came here for my birthday dinner, everything was delicious. The croque monsieur bites, the steak, and the wines. Service was amazing and it was one of those gem restaurants were you feel as if you are a part of a larger experience because the energy and vibe is so positive. Nothing but people enjoying their food and the company they are with!
Cozy, good service and drinks. Food way great as well
Great steak tartare. Every course was amazing.
Chicken is absolutely delicious! Love the neighborhood feel.
Stumbled into this cozy place - it was a busy Saturday and we didn't have a reservation but they were very accommodating. Maybe my joke en française helped, who knows? The food was excellent as well. Merci mes amis
delicious food, great prices, wonderful French ambiance
The place is not too big but they managed to take us for a birthday party. It was around 13 of us and we had a lot of fun. Good food and good wine selection.
Génial. Service super sympa...
Fabulous French bistro with attentive and friendly service and delicious food! The salad Lyonnaise and saffron mussels are top notch! And creme brûlée and chocolate mousse are great, too! Highly recommend!
First place I ate when I moved to NYC. Love the food and atmosphere.
Small bar and restaurant serving traditional French comfort food. Great place for a glass of wine and some authentic French dishes.
A very nice place. Quality food.
I visited NYU with a friend and afterwards hungrily stumbled upon this gem. The size of the entire restaurant is about the size of my South Philly apartment bedroom yet it fills out very nicely, and with all the attractive French people around you sort of don't mind being a little cramped. As for the food, the Salmon cut like butter, I ordered dessert twice, and they've somehow managed to finally turn me onto the taste of cilantro.
