This Restaurant corresponds to the category of Modern French restaurant.
Definitely go with a seat at the bar/counter and pick one of the tastings. Though it’s a big space, you still feel an intimacy during your dining. Food was beautiful and delish. Every dish was fantastic and service was perfectly tempered. You felt catered too, but not watched.
this is counter food reinvented 20 times over: you will not put down your silverware until every single morsal of food is scrapped off your plate and into your mouth. from the vegetables to the seafood to the tremendous mash potatoes (one part potatoes, two parts butter) to the exotically satisfying deserts, this offers quite the perfect meal in a most unusual setting. the portions are much too small (that's where the mash potatoes come into play), but each and every crumb is a minature masterpiece.
A friend and I had a reservation for 6:45 PM on a summer Thursday. I arrived early, checked in, and was seated at the bar. I ordered a wine spritzer as it was very hot outside. The bar and restaurant were pleasantly cool. When my friend arrived, we were taken to the restaurant, which we hadn't realized was essentially bar service around the open kitchen, unless you had 4 or more guests. My friend has some asthma, so we wondered if we could sit elsewhere. The host promptly took us back to the grill (on the bar side) and seated us without a quibble - same menu as the atelier as well! And then the bartender brought my spritzer back to my table! I had the summer discovery tasting menu with the premium wine pairing, and my friend had a few small dishes, but he wasn't as hungry. The service and the food were excellent, which of course I'd expected. We were each offered a foie-gras "custard" amuse-bouche to begin. The kitchen timed our dishes perfectly, and were gracious enough to offer my friend a plate each time my dish came out, in case he wanted to try it. About half way through, with compliments of the kitchen, we were presented a plate of wagu-beef sliders with some lovely seasoned fries, simply because they wanted us to be able to share more together. It was a really wonderful surprise, and the slider was amazing. All the dishes were of course haute-cuisine and quite creative. (The menu is on their website.) I only wish I had gotten a list of the wines I tasted, which were amazing as well and in fact, the dessert wine was bottled the year I graduated from high school (and I'm middle aged!). Superb all around. The final chocolate ganache dish was perfect - not too rich, not too light, just amazing. And the final offering of madeleines from the kitchen was also a really nice touch. I can't say enough about how well we were treated. I recommend L'atelier very very highly, even given it's quite high cost. If you can afford to go, do so!
Wonderful staff, amazing chef and even accommodated my 2.5yr old. Loved the winter tasting menu. Extensive wine menu as well. An absolute treat
It will be closing? it is my favorite restaurant in New York City! What is going on in this country, we are losing the best of the best. Is this related to the economy? Woww
this place is knock your socks of great, especially for that special occasion where you want to see and feel food created especially for you in front of your eyes. they attend to every detail in a way that is both sophisticated and easy going (like they have done it 1000 times before). can't pick a better dinner in nyc
must habe roast chicken!
Wonderful food and comfortable atmosphere. The staff was very attentive and made this meal a once in a lifetime experience. The wine pairings with the tasting menu were excellent. Our sommelier John and the beverage director Sabra both spent a lot of time with us explaining various options and making recommendations.
Excellent meal and service from beginning to end. Inventive but not crazy. Delicious. The cocktail pairing is interesting but not over the top. I made a random comment about how I thought was going to be bigger considering they showed us the pan. I was already stuffed, didn't actually want any more food but they brought out an extra course of Quail which was incredibly tender and flavorful. That's exactly the kind of thing you expect from such Michelin star restaurant. Fantastic place. Would not hesitate to come again and recommend.
Extremely well executed dishes. Great presentation and flavors. Portions a bit on the small side, even for French standards.
Yes, true that the Maître Cuisinier, the legendary and much respected Chef Joël Robuchon, rightfully dubbed 'The Chef of the Century', holds much more Michelin stars than his fellow competitors Alain Ducasse, Martin Berasategui, or our own Thomas Keller combined. But... who cares if the final product is poor? Totally agree with the first reviewer who granted the place 3 stars only. First come the numerous service flaws. For starters, we were seated at the bar. We reserved our table at 'Reserve l'Atelier' and not 'Reserve Le Bar'. Moreover, the staff never inquired whether we liked our seats. Then, comes the food. Some reviewers raved about the bread basket. The baguettes were superb but L'Atelier is not your boulangerie-pâtisserie but a top-tier restaurant. Now, the food served as featured in the restaurant's 'Menu d'automne' was OK, nothing was impressive by either inventiveness, daring innovations neither its taste. Some dishes were better ('AUBERGINE CONFITE AUX FINS AROMATES ET CURRY DE LÉGUMES) and some outright bland and generic (LA DAURADE/Royal sea bream carpaccio), the better version of which one could easily find in a host of the so-called Asian fusion restaurants. Thirdly, the price. Totally overpriced. We don't mind to pocket out over $700 for a memorable dinner, provided it is well justified. In the case of L'Atelier, it is definitely not the case. 'Et puis', the otherwise charming Monegasque maître d', got so interested by our process of taking pictures (who doesn't take food pictures nowadays?) that he Googled us up, using our reservation details. Excuse me? Whatever happened to privacy and discretion? To add an insult on injury, upon leaving the restaurant, we were handed one 'doggie bag' (a customary practice prevalent in places like Bouley, Atera, or Aquavit). One! It is supposed to be 1 per guest, which we have observed happening earlier. Did the staff run out of the proper supplies? If they did, they should have made a better effort to apologize. The phenomenon of L'Atelier is the fact that it is a newly opened 'hot' and 'trendy' spot. With the city's obsession with everything in vogue, L'Atelier hopes they might get away with all of the above. They will not. All in all, we would recommend any other of the Michelin-star-studded establishments in the area. Less damage to your wallet, better experience and better customer service. The final disastrous brushstroke was provided courtesy of Hailey, 'the digital coordinator' of the establishment. In response to our review, published on TripAdvisor, she suggested to "love the chance to rectify the situation and talk more'. After 4 days, their effort at rectification - as the rest of the restaurant's food and service - hasn't materialized yet. By the way, please don't be fooled into Google's overall high rating - most of the reviews do relate to the old restaurant by Maitre Robuchon, located in Four Seasons and closed in 2012, and not its latest reincarnation. Voilà.
Excellent food and service. Very knowledgable and friendly Sommelier named Hemant. We all had the Discovery fixed menu. Each course was well prepared and delicious.
Outstanding everything
Must visit, great experience $$$$
One of the best meal i eat
This excellent restaurant is off the chart! Unbelievable service from a very friendly and knowledgeable staff and the food is going to fulfill your highest expectations!
It’s disappointing you can’t order from L’Atelier’s kitchen when sitting at the bar, especially after we were provided with the menu. The maitre’d was very accommodating but I probably won’t return.
Amazing service!
This is probably some of the best food I have had in my life. Everything was executed perfectly. The service was also impeccable and disarming considering the price point and culinary reputation.
Good food, good service. Fits NYC culinary experience.
Fantastic is the word. Had the winter set menu and it was excellent. Great wine list too!
Very unique dishes and sophisticated flavors. Great wines to be paired with different items. The duck was super delicious!
Un clasico cocina francesa de calidad
Excellent service and food. I believe they have two Michelin stars for whatever that's worth. The highlights, besides the food, was that they attempted to do a cocktail tasting menu paired with the spring tasting menu. This is refreshing given you can find a decent wine pairing anywhere.
It was my 16 yr old sons birthday. My partner and I had been to the Joel Robuchon in Las Vegas at the MGM and we had raved to him about it. He was eager to experience the same venue in New York. It was nice but it did not match up with the Las Vegas Venue. The decor is nice but high top tables away from the bar area are meant to give a birds eye view of the kitchen. I could do without the view and would prefer a regular table. If you want the view sit at the counter it is well worth the wait. The staff could not have been nicer. They arranged for a tour of the kitchen for my son and the others at our table and even took a photo for my son to keep. The food was excellent. We had the larger of the 2 tasting menus. It was a little too much and one or two of the dishes seemed a little confused. The quality was top class and the service was prompt and friendly. This is a fine restaurant but not in the class of Gramercy Tavern, Per Se or even next door at Del Posto. I gave it 5 stars only because I do not know how to give 4 1/2 stars. Stay tuned for an upcoming review of Eleven Madison Park.
Great ambiance, even better food and service
Superior service, attention to detail and food to die for. What else is there to say.
Excellent Food!! Expenbut worth of the experience
Joel robuchon is one of my favorite restaurant.
Great dinning experience. The absolute best.
Wonderful service and amazing food
Magnifique ! Tellement bon !
The bread was better than the food. Horrible cocktail. And the service was mediocre.
High quality food, well presented. Reservations never required. Two restaurants in one, with a formal one, and casual one (that is rather formal as well). Up the stairs to the entrance, or up the wheelchair lift. Gender - specific bathroom, very clean and discreet. Beautiful wine list, and patrons.
Amazing food, staff and service. Their hospitality, selection of wine, and of course food is above standard. I couldn't have asked for a better dinner!
Lovely experience eating at this restaurant. Good to have an expense account.
the location makes it a world class competitor.
As good as it gets. Best. Bread. Ever.
Absolutely fantastic, matches Paris location. Amazing dining experience at the bar...but beware the $1000 price for two people
Joel Robuchon has more Michelin stars than any other chef in the world, more than 30! There is a reason. He is a genius in his conceptions of the plates and meticulous in ensuring perfect execution. I have had the pleasure of dining in his restaurants in Paris, Bordeaux, Hong Kong and now the newest in Tribeca. Even though I went to the new NY restaurant before the official opening, everything was perfect: a salmon tartar with caviar that was a show stopper, a sensational foie gras and artichoke salad; and white truffle risotto.
perfect tasting menu with wine pairing
One of the better French restaurants in NYC - excellent food, wine, and service. Fun atmosphere, incredible sweetbread (best I've had outside France), spaghetti with truffle is outstanding as well
Beautiful restaurant, amazing food
They served me one of the best meals that I had in a while. Just Amazing! I don’t like quail but since they recommended it I decided to give it a try. It was out of this world. Wow! Everything was exceptional. They have the best mashed potato that I ever had in my life. The only thing that can improve is the desert. Don’t get me wrong, desert was great, looked beautiful, and I enjoyed it but it wasn’t exceptional like everything else that they have. Well Done! I’ll be back.
Excellent service
Love our meal for our anniversary
Great atmosphere besides wonderful food and service.
Absolutely 5 star
better places to eat for the tab. will try to seat you at 6:00pm so as to turn over the bar stools 3 times a night.
Just unbelievable! Kind, generous, blazing, delicate qualify the best the restaurant, the team and the food all together
loved sitting at the kitchen "bar" and having small plates. a truly special gourmet experience.
Delicious and excellent service!
Another amazing birthday dinner at l'Atelier. Dinner was excellent as always and the wine pairing was very interesting, with a nice selection of corky international wines. My favorites were the French gnocchi (no potato) and the cod. And of course, wonderful staff with very knowledgeable sommeliers
Excellent professional service but a highly disappointing meal. Tasteless salmon covered in an inedible layer or gelatinous goo that was supposed to be ravioli. The chicken entree was equally boring. Sides of whipped potatoes we pasty, dull and not worth the calories. Dining room was mostly empty on a Thursday night which may be a response to the mediocre food.
exellent food, very expensive in compare to the ather in this level
creative inventive small plates. sit at the bar and interact with the chef for a terrific experience. don't pass up joel robuchon's mashed potatoes available on request.
Great great great food. Of course pricey, but you know that...
(Translated by Google) The appetizer is delicious, my steak is cold. (Original) 前菜好吃,我的牛排是凉的
Food was fine (nothing mind blowing), but the place is just tacky. Looks like it was designed for Russian oligarchs or Arabs.
This is a special place where you feel a sense of celebration for the food, the service, and ambiance.
I am not satisfy
Very good restaurant on the west side by Chelsea market. The service was very good (maybe a little too attentive, we had to tell one server to give is a few minutes to just talk). The menu was refined but also offered great choices. Inside there are two spaces. One more formal and one side that is less formal. So make sure to check both spaces. The cocktails we're decent and the wine list was expansive. Overall a great date night place or even just a dinner with friends.
Joel Robuchon is a Genius.
Over the top! Every bite was an exquisite surprise. A little heavy on the branding, but I still look forward to another visit.
Very beautiful inside
Exquisite cusine one of the best. Great service
Outstanding! The most memorable meal I have had in NYC. Now with the addition of Le Grill it is even better! The burger is best in the city and wine list is incredible. Great for nice afterwork drinks and a bite or special event dinners.
Good Service, excellent preparations.
Simply amazing, the desserts here are the best in NYC!!! But tonight was made even more special by the great bartender we had, thank you Jonathon for such outstanding service.
Top-notch bar service with speciality cocktails. I recommend trying the ceviche.
Exceptional creations and superb presentations. I was transported to some otherworldly culinary experience with each dish (and I ate all vegetarian). I met the executive chef Christophe afterwards - an incredibly gracious man, so focused on his work and meticulous with what he does. Every offering was so beautiful and delicious, I honestly do not want to eat anywhere else now. Really worth the trip.
Good, but we waited for the seats we booked for an hour over our reservation time like r u srs bro
We love it either the grill or the restaurant. Great value. All product are delicious.
One of the best experiences of my life, seasonal menu is a must. Wine tasting blew my expectations away! This is a must if you are in the area! Staff was really knowledgeable, great history of every wine we tasted.
I went there for a drink at the bar and felt like I was at a five star hotel. The service was incredible. As we left, we were each given a complimentary pastry from their pastry chef. I will definitely go back.
Great service good bartender Mixology the food is totally lacking I ordered a steak they said it was 7 oz of turned out to be 4oz, totally lacking menu, Uberly commercial and totally lacks innovation, I would never come back to this place again
good, modern food - sitting at the bar is an experience as you get to see the food being made
Amazing restaurant & service ⭐️⭐️⭐️
The long cedar bar is magical and the food simply wonderful.
Good food, not extraordinary. Very expensive.
A culinary experience like any other. The kindness of the team and their professional service are also incredible !
excellent food.
Def one of my favorites in the city. Do yourself a favor and check it out.
Was there for my birthday dinner and everything was perfect. Had dinner previously in his restaurant in Singapore a brought back similar great memories. Next stop to try out the flagship restaurant in Las Vegas.
Wow!!!!
This is a fancy place with extraordinary food and deserts! It's expensive but it worthy the experience! Service is amazing and the environment is very sophisticated. I would come back for a fancy celebration!
Very nice meal here. Staff was very friendly, for was good, we had a really nice dinner experience. We ordered A la carte, and we enjoyed our dishes very much.
Extraordinary food and service, nothing to say. We were there the night they got the 2 Michelin stars and the staff was celebrating... It is a big achievement for a restaurant to go from zero to two stars straight away. We did the wine pairing, really great wine and introductions from the sommelier. Not cheap... But you don't go there for the price right?
Got seasonal tasting course for the dinner. The pre-appitizer muse was duck foie gras with foam, followed by six other course listed on the menu. Highlight was the salmon tartar, scallop and the wagyu beef. A very interesting experience but a bit more expensive than the value of courses. Bar seating was great, you can see how the food is prepared. Tips are included in the price.
very good, but not amazing like paris. $38 for 2 hamburgers the size of a quarter is silly and db burger is better. signature quail is good but in paris it explodes in your mouth. we both order 2 entrees for our main meal, not small plates, and never leave stuffed. $17 for a small scoop of sorbet with gold leaf is silly too. went back for the second time in a month and sat at a table instead of at the bar and liked it better.
Amazing amazing amazing. Creative and delicious food, excellent service.
A culinary experience for the sight and senses
Amazing food, as expected. The counter seeing makes it difficult if you have a party of more than two, so it's more for an intimate couples experience - or going alone!
We came for Thanksgiving dinner. The food for the set menu was excellent but service was a complete disaster. When I made the reservation for seven, I spoke with someone at the restaurant about my son’s severe dairy protein allergy. She assured me that the chef and staff would be able to accommodate the allergy. We also let the hostess and our waiter know when we arrived. Even with all that, they served both the first and second courses to my son with dairy in the ingredients. An angry conversation with the GM rectified the problem, but it should not have required a stern conversation on Thanksgiving Day to deal with the request. Beyond that, it took several requests to fill a few drink orders and service was generally spotty. While the restaurant comped the wine we ordered with dinner, serving food that could have put a guest in the hospital ER had he eaten it earned this restaurant just two stars.
Really enjoyed my meal. I don't care much for the ambience, but the food was on point.
I am very pleased with this restaurant. very stylish, cozy and tasty. attentive waiters, good service. will come back many times and recommend this restaurant to everyone!
The decor and ambiance of the place seems like it's more hip than I would say other restaurants of its status. The space isn't huge but it's spacious enough to sit comfortably. The main dining area is very loungey, with couches to enjoy drinks and near the back there is the large "kitchen bar" surrounding a beautifully decorated kitchen (nothing like the kitchens of restaurants I've worked in!) The service was absolutely impeccable and our server was very knowledgeable of all the selections on the menu. Once again, as my first time fine dining, I was in awe of just how much attention she had towards my boyfriend and me and how much she seemed to "care" about our meal (aka our tip).
Excellent fare. In a beautiful atmosphere. Prepare to spend quite a bit (100s). Parking was simple and free. Great area. Excellent service.
Fantastic dining experience with great eye for detail and the best sourced ingredients prepared by true craftsman in the open kitchen
Great service and pairings from the sommeliers accompanied the tasting menu, but the restaurant has yet to hit its stride in terms of service overall. We witnessed a more senior chef intimidate and aggressively criticize two different line cooks, and our server forgot to maintain the flow of our courses - resulting in a 30 minute intermission between our second and third dishes. The restaurant is abuzz with captains and servers flying around, which eliminates any real sense of intimacy in exploring all the exquisite flavors the kitchen staff bring to the plate. 1.5 stars for the wine and sommelier service, 1.5 stars for the food, and 1 star for the decor - one off for the poor service - though I'm curious to check out the separate bar area/menu another time.
(Translated by Google) Unaccustomed to starred restaurants, I was really seduced by the welcome service and the dishes. Everyone is so delicious that it's almost a shame to taste them all as a result. You would have to take one a day (unless you can afford to come every day)
Good service on a busy night.
prefer bar to tables but tables are numerous. paris atmosphere more pleasing. food superb but the formality takes away from the pleasure.recommend sitting at the small bar.
This place was amazing and honestly the pictures speak for themselves. I know not everyone likes to sit at bar seats to eat but if you like to watch the action in the kitchen, this is where you need to be. We came for a birthday celebration and got some. Nice additions!
Amazing space and staff
Sempre que vou tenho uma excelente experiência com a cozinha fenomenal do lugar.
Pretty darn good. Amazing new build.
Delicious tasting menu, excellent wine pairing.
THE best. Excellent venue, service, and wow the food.
Perhaps my expectations were to high. But I was very disappointed with the dishes presented to me. Granted, I chose those dishes, but their presentation, flavour and creativity were far from, in my experience of dining at Michelin starred restaurants, worthy of 2 Michelin ☆☆. I'm used to Michelin restaurants that serve paintings for dishes that you don't want to touch because they are do beautiful. The worst of the three courses was the sea bass. It came in a huge bowl with a glass lid that looked similar to that of a hat with a spike where the bubble should be. So looks wise it was very nice. I expected there to be a stunning dish inside where the bass was sitting on a bed of the best vegetables surrounded by rose petals or some otherworldly decoration.......you get what I mean...... but it was presented with a watery bland sauce and a bowl of creamed mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were exceptionally good. That is it. With a prefixe meal for $185, I was expecting Sistine Chapel but got the local church. Never again.
Amazing High End modern French. Bring your wallet.
Went there for my birthday. The food was good, but nothing amazing or memorizable. Staff were friendly. My favorite was probably the mash potatoes.
Excellent food met expectations.Very friendly professional service, but, looks like they’re still settling in. A Michelin inspector would not be too happy about their wine selection being out of stock and a $200.00 bottle of champagne mistakenly added to their bill. I am not sure I like their “no gratuity “ policy.
Sensational meal. Joel would be proud. Anyone who says otherwise just doesn't get it.
Nice restaurant! Waiting for the fine dining by Robuchon to be open.

Good food and decor
The menu is an experience by itself. Wonderful and memorable food and service.
