(Translated by Google) Disappointing the deal. I ordered menu. With wine it was 9 euros more. At first I didn't want to but then I told the waiter that he had changed his mind and brought me a drink. "Chardonnay?" He asked me and I said ok and when the bill comes they charged me $ 18 for the wine instead of the extra $ 9. The excuse is that the chardonnay did not enter the menu ... and how would I know ?! If I go from the menu, the normal thing is that if they offer me something out of the menu they tell me or they put the wine on the menu directly. I complained to the meter, who told me that he understood me but he did not apologize or change the account. In the end it turned out to be the cheapest glass of wine in New York because for the first time I did not leave a tip ... and I would have left $ 25 to $ 30. And they seemed surprised and all in spite of the treatment and my anger. I guess that in this restaurant people should shut up or this is usually done only to foreigners. I hope that the next day the waiter won't tease anyone else and learn.

LUCKY US to have La Goulue only 2 blocks away. I love their tuna tartare and Dale loves their onion soup. I love their sole meuniere. Dale has really liked everything she's had there. The restaurant is gorgeous and although it's busy, there's no problem hearing each other. In a few months they will be opening a restaurant in Palm Beach. LUCKY US.

The service was awful; the food tasteless; the atmosphere cramped and noisy.

La Goulue was a mid-town staple for years, first in the east 70's and then, for years, on Madison in the 60s. As if by magic, it reopened in its current location - same menu, same decor, same great food. In fact, it is even better now. It is very French in looks and feel. Hard to choose what to eat from the wonderful selection. Food is fine French, but way beyond bistro. We were a party of four and everyone loved it. Service is attentive but busy, food is really good. The drawback is that the restaurant is very, very loud.

The food is fantastic. The service exceptional. The ambience is chic old french. My new favorite french restaurant!

Excellent food and service. The food is five star quality. Excellent quiche, the bread basket is a treat for the table and highly recommended. The avocado toast is amazing and an excellent starter. The drinks are very well done even if you go off menu.

Food could use taste, I can tolerate but that's a personal choice. Squeeze in as many people as possible which I can also understand. Not recommended based on service ( or attitude?). Ultimate in level of cheapness. Asking for bread and you'd think you are trying to grab a fresh kill from a pack of hyenas.

We were delighted when it moved just 3 blocks from our house and we've come for dinner a couple of times/month. We particularly like tuna tartar, onion soup, risotto and whatever fish they have on the menu. Service is terrific. I loved La Goulue in the 70s when it was on 70th Street between Madison & Park. They lost me when they moved to Madison Avenue. In this incarnation, we love it

good food ,typical French bistro. Tables very close to each other.A bit too noisy.

Food was decent but not brilliant, which is what you would expect for the prices. Lots of stuff on the menu wasn't available (which was weird as we came in at 7). The restaurant was very cold. Wouldn't go again.

Service was extremely slow. Not sure if it was because it was Sunday but they seemed to be understaffed. It took a while to place my order and I was very disappointed when the last piece of the dessert special was sold to the previous customer when I waited about 30 minutes to order dessert. I am not sure if I would give it a second chance, perhaps in a few months since I do live in the neighborhood.

Basic French. Simply stated very overrated based on the reviews and overpriced. Steak tartar very basic. Brussels sprouts salad, left behind on my plate and my associates plate. When the plates were removed, the staff did not question our full plates. Btw, expect to pay high $$$$ for mediocre food. Service was okay. N't interested in going back.

I couldn’t believe the food was so mediocre. You can pay twice as less and get the same in other restaurants. I was very disappointed. Also, I was overcharged for the wine which only adds to my decision not to give this place another chance.

Our experience at La Goulue was delightful in every way. The atmosphere, service, staff and food were excellent.

Lera Korytska

Great service, cosy classy atmosphere, delicious food. Had tuna tartare, Dover Sole and profiteroles. All were delicious, tuna and sole didn’t even stand a chance of being captured in the picture- gone so quickly. Over all lovely experience. The only wish is to have some nice French music in a background to take and atmosphere on to the next level.

Yes! la goulue is back and it’s awesome ! Great French brasserie. The staff is most of the time professional and friendly .Wide variety of french delicacies. You may experience a feeling of being rushed , just tell them to slow down! On the pricier side but ohlala it’s worth it !

What a horribly pretentious place. The Manager made us wait even though many tables were open and the coat check person was equally as rude, referring to each male as darling. I feel sorry for the wait staff who worked hard to compensate for the front of the house staff. There is no reason to navigate the rude treatment when there are so many other great restaurants in NYC! Shame on them.

Upscale and elegant ambiance, the food is good but not super impressive (gluten free quiche was just nice, profitroles were good), the service is attentive and caring. The only real minus is that tables are located super tightly.

I used to love the real La Goulue. Unfortunately the woman answering the phone this morning was so horrifically snotty - basically hung up on me - that I lost any enthusiasm for this recreation. Hopefully the management will kick her to the curb before she turns away more customers.

Terrible service. If you are a woman forget it you will be sent to the table close to the bathrooms. All good tables are given to men, old men. It was great on Madison now went down hill. Women, stay away from this place!

If you are pro human rights don’t go! Me and my husband had the worst experience in this restaurant! My husband uses a scooter for diseable people and they were unsanely rude about parking the scooter inside! This never ever happened to us un any other place! The manager was so rude and tottaly doesn’t caring about! Even the woman that was in charge for the coats was “ you can’t leave the scooter here because I will not be able to get the coats” like we were parking a plane! Clearly the place is not adequate to NYC accessibility laws. A big shame!

I loved the old La Goulue so was very excited about its reopening. Unfortunately, my onion soup was full of bread-could not find onions. The 30 plus ounce steak for two was ordered medium rare. It arrived incredibly, incredibly rare and was sent back. We tried to alert a waiter after quite a while to check on our steak without avail. By the time we were able to get a waiter to retrieve our steak the rest of our party had finished their dinners. There are quite a few secondary waiters who seem to be in charge of only pouring water (also clearing plates) so it seems ever time you take a sip of water they are invading your personal space constantly and annoyingly refilling your sip of water. Hope the management can fix all of of this as a bill well north of $300 was presented that included one glass of wine, one bread soup (!) and three main entrées and two desserts.

Loved the old La Goulue and this incarnation does not disappoint!

I have not had such a good brunch in a very long time. Glad to see this place be back. The staff was wonderful. Our waiter a total French delight & the Manager, Greg, extremely charming. From the white suggestion all the way to dessert, it was truly a wonderful 2 hrs. My NY strip steak was perfect. Temperature, texture, flavor & cooked to perfection. Same goes to the French fries. Definitely will be coming back for dinner & highly recommend it. Great atmosphere, decor & almost felt as if you were not in NY...

This review is only for the quality of the food. I had steak with French fries. The steak was probably frozen for a few months, before it was cooked - not sure what cooking technique was used, since it was tasteless, and the butter with herbs on top could not add to the taste. The french fries were 100% frozen from the bag, and also tasteless. To sum it up, this was fast food quality with table service on 61st street and Madison Ave. NYC's restaurants are loosing their touch, since this is becoming the norm in most restaurants - either microwaved food, or overpriced eggs for the "treandy" branch. Hope the quality comes back.

I'm vegan so I couldn't eat much (vegans, don't go here hungry!). But I was there to be with my family so it wasn't a big deal. I don't expect to be able to eat anything at French restaurants so it was better than I thought! The staff was AMAZING. Seriously the best bunch. The atmosphere is great too. I would recommend to all non-vegans for sure.

Traditional, old school French restaurant. Amazing service, amazing food, and amazing experience. LOVE the atmosphere. I feel Iike I’m in an old Hollywood movie when I walk in. Can’t go wrong with this place.

Our experience at la Goulue turned out to be very noisy. We were seated next to a group of approx. 30 young women celebrating something - not sure what - and the noise was unbearable. We were hardly able to carry on a conversation. We had to leave to have coffee and desert somewhere else.
