Ben Kline

This spot never fails to impress. They serve fresh food for reasonable rates, there is no waiting time even when the spot is packed.

Kamael Sugrim

This place is awesome! If you get tired of waiting for ramen down the block (which we did) then come to Danji instead. Deliciously prepared Korean good. a the tofu was my favorite - melt in your mouth good.

yuju moon

I had Tteokbokki, egg over the rice, and tofu. Tteokbokki and tofu were too salty, and the portion of dishes is too small. Can say pricey but not worth it. I recommend to go to Ktown for real Korean dishes.

Kok Jeff Tan

I like the pork belly sliders a lot. So much flavor and just the right amount of spiciness. The rice dish wasn’t very good.

Jamie Lai

Delicious spicy pork bi bim bap. Great ratio of crispy rice -- the cooking was well done! Pretty skimpy with the meet though. Airy yet cozy space. Fun bathroom decor.

Young Kang

They used to be a Micheline star one, but it seems the chef changed. But still worth trying

Taehoon Kim

Excellent!

Christopher J

Loved everything about Danji. Amazing food and friendly staff.

Rafael Kaufmann

Amazing food. Got lucky and picked up a great wine bottle at half the price.

Chris Dudasik

Creative and very delicious food and drinks - not a large place so make a reservation! Get the beef sliders

Benjamin M

Amazing braised pork belly. Best for a group of two or more and make sure to call for a reservation. If your just one person they will gladly accommodate your needs.

Kris Riley

Great atmosphere, amazing food and awesome service

Jeriva Lee

Exceeded our expectations! Fun twist to traditional korean dishes ♥️

Justin Cutillo

Excellent preshow meal.

mystery. Tight seating especially at the shared tables. Food was pretty good. A version of authentic Korean food. Service is very attentive but cant get to customers when the people are sitting so closely together.

Antranig Telliyan

The restaurant week lunch menu is actually really decent and tasted so goood. It was really good.

A very small and intimate restaurant with dimmed lights and candles perfect for date nights! Danji is a hole in the wall in Hells Kitchen, where you would never expect a Korean restaurant. The place is primarily made of communal high tops where the menu is hidden in the drawer and wooden spoons and hanging on the sides for anyone to take home lol. Def enjoyed the concept. What we ordered: -Spicy Whelk Salad w/ Buckwheat Noodles -Spicy KFC (Korean Fried Chicken wings) THE BEST!!!! -Bulgogi bowl- THE BEST -Danji Braised Black Angus Short Rib- THE BESTT!!! SO tender and easily comes off the bone! Let's talk food. Don't expect Korean BBQ here, it's mostly bibimbap. It's the same type of simplicity done right. The food is really good and flavorful and so is the service. Overall loved the experience and ambiance here. The only compliant would be that the price point is a bit on the higher side for the amount of food that you receive which is quite small. Overall we’ll probably be back but not if I was starving that day. It's bougie Korean but in a good way.

George Jin

This is more American Korean food not authenticated Korean food. Some people like it sone may not enjoy this kind of modification. Personally, if I want to go eat Korean food I like more authenticated traditional one. The taste is above average. The service is pretty good and friendly. The restaurant is clean.

Halo Grey

Thanks again and I look up at the top of my head I will have the most pure love

Rob Anderson

This is the best restaurant in the theater district. Every dish was insanely good and the service was outstanding. The scallion pancake is made differently than what you’re used to - it’s crispier, thicker, and you’ll wish other scallion pancakes were like this. Noodles, fried rice, wings - it’s all excellent.

James Young Kwon

Excellent fusion Korean food, creative cocktails, and friendly customer service

Dave Snodgrass

Delicious food. Great servoice. Wonderful lunch experience.

MickMick NYC

The food is great and you’ll get a great lunch deal.

David Troy

Danji is your contemporary Korean name. Space was relatively packed and seating was also limited. We got the baby Arugula salad, short rib stew, and spicy rice cake with sausage. Nothing was a miss. The salad was very refreshing to kick off the meal as it had fruits and nuts in the mix. The spicy rice cake was a special one as the rice cake was first deep fried (very crispy) before mixed with onion and sausage. The dish went really well with the greek yogurt on top. Finally, there's the short rib. The short rib was obviously cooked long hours and went really long with stewed carrots and potato. Although the price was on the higher end, it was definitely worth it. Our drinks Tokyo drift and soju sangria were both very fruity and refreshing, I'd highly recommend both. The service was on par as it should.

Jacob E.

Loved it. Food was amazing. Have the shrimp scallion pancake!

Alex Hyun Thur Cho

Food was tasty, but wayyyyyy overpriced. the portions are ridiculous.

Kris Allee

Tiny place. Certainly not traditional Korean food, but it is good food. Went last night and couldn't get in without a reservation. Walked in for lunch today and was just able to get a spot, so plan ahead. Service is great. A little pricey but not outrageous. Interesting option for sure.

Savita Persaud

Food was really salty. Serving size for the tasting menu is too large. Service was on time and prompt. Waitress was attentive. Restaurant is clean and comfortable.

Fariah Amber

We had just watched a show and were looking for something to eat. It was around 11 pm. Love Korean food so why not?! We weren't that hungry so we got two dishes. The bulgogi beef sliders ( I was tempted to have the noodle dish with bulgogi but after reading the reviews was glad I didn't,). The sliders were great although o think a dash of lemon would have made them phenomenal! We also had the Korean kfc wings, which were great. The daikon that came with the wings was so good, I could have eaten a whole plate of them! The food came out really quickly which was great because I wanted to go to sleep! The food was a bit expensive but I guess that's what you get for being in Manhattan!

Nathalie T

couple things were really delicious. couple things weren't so great. nice, nice venue. ask them what SPE Certified means.

Samrita Adwani

The pork belly sliders were to die for - definitely a must order.

Bryan Beaudreault

Danji was very good, we tried a number of dishes and they were all delicious and interesting. We let the staff know that we had a show to get to and they did their best to get us out on time (about an hour). The atmosphere was small and intimate but energetic. All in all we had a great experience here and would go back and recommend it to friends.

Ruston Dickens

Great place! My wife and I had dinner there this weekend before a show. Excellent friendly service. We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. They have a nice drink menu as well. For small plates the serving sizes are pretty generous. We were fine splitting 3 items.

Terry Stein

Superb Korean dishes, tummy satisfying, left very full. Service was fine. :)

Jay Chua

Didn't like the food, but more importantly, the speed at which the food came out was not up to par with the high star-rating on Google. The seating was also tight and cramped, leaves much to be desired. Disappointed and probably would not return.

Rachel Blumenstein

Do the tasting menu, it’s so worth it.

Marco Massarelli

The sizzling bibimbap with bulgogi beef is yummy and filling, all for 25$ tax and tip included. I keep returning for more. Do also try the edamame!

gastrophobia me

Me bad. Made the same error twice, walking over from Cha Pa..... so I repeat - For those Asian tourists in New York City, unless you are really home sick, don’t try. The taste is just not the same.

elizabeth thomas

i want to love this place so much because the food is good. my husband and i come twice a year when we come to town for shows. the last time we came after a show (we booked on open table). when we got there they said we had to hurry because the kitchen was closing. but they accepted our reservation for that time! so we hurried through our meal as everyone seemed to just be waiting for us to finish. but the food was good... i decided to book again. i booked a week beforehand for four people to have dinner before our show. we have a close friend that decided to meet up for the show, so i tried to edit our reservation through open table to add one more. it said to call or e-mail the restaurant. i e-mailed as i live in another time zone and can’t seem to reach them during my day. i just got to town and called them today to check on my reservation and make sure they received my e-mail. the woman that took my call simply said, “we get so many e-mails we can’t get to all of them. you should have called”. she offered us to sit all at the bar. “everyone is over 21, right?” no, they are not. she said she could accommodate if we ate at the bar and we’re out by 6:00 p.m. another hurried meal. unfortunately it will be our last at this place.

Rome Odom

This Korean restaurant in Hells Kitchen is cozy. The menu is meant for sharing small, medium and large dishes with others you are dining with to fully enjoy the experience. Service was friendly.

Charlene Gullett-Scaggs

Amazing food, great service. If you are in the area definitely give it a try.

Carlos Negron

Love the ambiance and design. Food was great and love the way it was presented. Nice date spot.

jeffery usher

I was here for restaurant week for lunch and the place serves good food. I enjoyed that my rice come out on a hot pan sizzling with goodness. The staff was nice however I did not have drinks here because did want to spend to much money. The place is small but it has charm. The staff was nice. I may come back to this place because I really enjoyed my meal.

Steven Fortune

Be warned that the place is very cramped--communal tables--and can be quite noisy, but go anyway! Terrific dishes: yellowtail sashimi, tofu w/ginger, bossam (!!), black cod, trio of kimchi. Good (but less interesting--I would skip): chicken wings, sliders, ice cream. We did the tasting menu, but maybe better to order a la carte. With the tasting menu, it came to $100/person with drinks, but could be less.

Karen Wood

Tiny cozy spot. Great dishes for sharing. Really nice wait staff, delicious sliders and tuna appetizers. Limited wine list but great cocktails. Perfect place pre-theater. Only a 8 Minute walk to the heart of theater district.

Christina Powell

Very homy and comfy atmosphere. The servers are very attentive. Most importantly the food is super tasty. When I look around I see some Korean couples which also confirms that this restaurant is a genuine and good restaurant.

Jay Prabakaran

Authentic Korean food, ate there before a Broadway show. The waiters are very attentive and asked us if we’re seeing any shows so they can have us out the door on time.

Mimi Na

Creative but traditional Korean foods. Everything is delicious.

David Marcus

Excellent bibi

Sam Boyd

Authentic taste, similar to what I get when I'm in Seoul. The wings and beef bibimbap were both great. They did not serve banchan as a starter, which is what I expect at a Korean restaurant, but everything else was great.

Trevor

Love the food here.

Savitri Balram

Had high hopes for this place, but was disappointed. A literal hole in the wall with uncomfortable seating that's so close to each other, you'll feel super awkward hearing everyone's conversation. The KFC Korean Chicken was meh. The bulgogi sliders were salty. The highlight of the menu was the trio of kimchi. Heavily overpriced for small portions and mediocre flavors.

Zoe Chen

Small portion, way salty taste, expensive, long wait time

Amy Steele

Food and service are great! We love it every time. (get the bossam )

Sanghamitra Sahoo

Limited seating but food was exceptional

Michelle

Awesome spin on Korean classics! Yellowtail sashimi and tofu stew were absolutely delicious. Great decor and atmosphere inside. Friendly staff. Make reservations ahead of time if you can—the space is very small.

Patrick Kelly

Unique Korean tapas concept. The sliders are better than any others you've had. The poutine is unlike anything I've ever had with very interesting spiciness.

John Hereford

Great atmosphere. The food was fantastic. I am not one to comment on the wait staff but the service was exceptional! The asparagus and snow pea dish is a must try. The yellow fun tuna was great as well.

Michelle M. Park

Delicious food and decent price for the neighborhood. May not be your traditional old Korean cuisine, but I liked the modern vibe and slight twists. The bibimbaps and fried rice were really good. The portions seems small at first sight, but ends up becoming quite filling with plenty of flavors and texture. The space is a bit tight and quite crowded though, so don't expect perfectly attentive service or having room to move around.

Andrew Gorman

Very nice modern Korean Fusion

Connie Baldwin

Try the sampler menu. So many delights! Best tofu I ever tasted.

Vasia Patov

Very tasty

Warren A

Small, quaint, and cozy but big on flavor. The dishes were as good looking as they taste. Service was great and never had an empty glass.

Sam Ham

Tofu with crispy tempura flakes,Love it .

Al Ain

Vibrant place with great atmosphere. The dinner was excellent, an interesting modern take on Korean cuisine. Very recommendable!!

Priyanka Agrawal

This restaurant is right in my neighborhood and I couldn’t be happier about it. It’s the perfect place to catch up with friends and enjoy great cocktails / food when you don’t want to see or be seen. It’s vibey, but intimate. Small but beautiful. Depending on what you order, it’s easy to run a big bill here if you’re not careful. But everything is worth it!

Ryan Atkinson

Great food, great atmosphere

Jordan Rosen

Delicious, modern Korean food in a cozy Hell's Kitchen nook. What's not to love. Excelent for both drinks and apps or a full meal.

Lee Delgado

I went for lunch on a Friday during restaurant week 2018. Luckily I made reservations for 1pm because the place was packed. I've been to a lot of Korean restaurants in Manhattan and this place I would have to say had the tastiest food. The spicy BBQ wings were a great appetizer. At first I thought the portion was kind of small but then realized it was perfect because the entrée was large and probably wouldn't have been able to finish it. It was large enough where there was room for ice cream and I walked out not feeling disgustingly full. Friendly bartender and the food came out super fast which was great because it kept things moving along. I didn't have a drink but the bar looked fully stocked with options. The space itself was small for the traffic coming in and I overheard a customer asking if the place is always packed and a staff member answering "Yes" . I can see why... good service, good food and not overpriced. I would suggest this intimate cozy place for maybe a date. Just make sure you play it safe and make a reservation.

Gülce POSTACI

Stopped by for the lunch. They have nice bibimbap set menus available, which they mixed up 2 orders for a table of 2... Anyways place is nice decorations and the plates are more than nice. Bibimbap was too sweet to my taste due to the gochujang sauce which means you need to choose between spicyness and sweetness

Simeone Silvestri

Cozy, classy, delicious dining experience.

Paul Wilkins

Really liked the spicy pork belly sliders

Lindsey Clopp

Lovely staff. Awesome food. And the perfect escape from the crowds. Also great eavesdropping on other diners.

Brett Rowe

Absolutely fantastic. Michelin level food in a rustic, inviting, well lit and cozy space. Every bite was actually flawless. Sat at the bar and the bartender was fantastic. Tasting menu for 2 or 3 seems the best way to sample everything. Very surprising and highly recommended!

gary harrod

Small but cosy place. Had the Bossam and the galbi-jim. Very very delicious. the last star is missing, because it is very pricy, for the plate sizes you get. But a visit worth, for sure....as said, delicious.

Eqqy Schneebly

Excellent food and surprisingly good service. Portions that were well sized and full of flavor, with great cocktails to boot.

Emily S

Great service and delicious food! Our waiter was very kind to us. Loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. It has simple decorations but there was clearly thought put into it. The food was very good and the portions a good size (not too small like most NYC restaurants)

Ross Smith

Amazing. Went here with Steph. Got $55pp tasting menu. Great deal.

Yinyue Qian

Good ambiance. I had high expectation before I came but was disappointed by the food. Portion is on the small side and price is a bit ex. We ordered 4 plates (medium and big) for 2. The food is tooooo salty. Every single dish is so salty that i cannot even taste anything else. Would not visit again.

Tao Zhu

Great food and service!

Soo Jung

The food is excellent here. Had the set menu for two and really enjoyed all the dishes.

aeschlimao

Too expensive for the choices at lunch. Bibimbap so so.

Maciej Walinski

Admittedly, I am not much of a foodie, but I know what I like, and when I've had a good experience. Danji checks both boxes handily. First, the food tastes good. It's creative, it's flavourful, and filling. We had the $55 tasting menu and we left satisfied. Not only that, but they were willing to accommodate my red meat aversion, substituting with two vegetarian dishes that delivered. I was not expecting them to do that, but they made no fuss at all. The sable fish, tofu squares, and chicken wings were particularly awesome. I would have been thrilled with just those, but there were four other excellent courses. In addition to great food, the service was excellent. Our bartender/server, Bobby, was not only above and beyond with his service, but downright pleasant and entertaining. He enhanced what was already an enjoyable experience, and basically assured that the next time with visit the City, we'll be coming to Danji. You probably won't find this place in many guides, but do yourself a favor if you're milling about the theater district, and check it out. You will not leave disappointed.

Vincent Reynaud

the food is delicious. small sharable plates which is always fun and the drinks are very good. Great service and just a great over all vibe. Really love going there for any kind of night, dates, casual diner, celebration, fits them all. Any items on the menu is just amazing!

Michelle Hao

The food was really just okay for the price point. We made reservations but still had to sit at the counter

Umesh Gajria

Fantastic food, service and ambiance for a fair price!

Feras Mossa-Basha

Good food, quick service. Constantly refilling our waters and getting us new plates. Favorite dishes were spicy Korean fried chicken (not very spicy and like chicken wings) and sweet potato noodles with beef. Beef sliders delicious but not much quantity for the price. Tight seating. Between $18-25 per dish

Zou Xue

Very homy and comfy atmosphere. The servers are very attentive. Most importantly the food is super tasty. When I look around I see some Korean couples which also confirms that this restaurant is a genuine and good restaurant.

JJ

Great food

Michael Torbert

The only michelin starred Korean restaurant that I know of. It's got great food and great service, and at a decent price as well. Make sure to make a reservation. This is an especially good place to eat before a show, just let them know what time your show is.

Day Kevin

Thanks to tall communal tables that practically fill the dining room, Chef Hooni Kim’s Hell’s Kitchen hot spot is both festive and bustling. Attractive and smartly designed, its silk panels, pottery and striking display of spoons are further enhanced by a flattering lighting scheme. Equally impressive are the menu’s myriad small plates, each of them a refreshing take on Korean specialties. Blocks of soft tofu are quickly deep-fried and boldly dressed with gochujang and a ginger-scallion vinaigrette. Poached daikon rings accompanied by bok choy are glazed with a dark and spicy sauce and stacked high for dramatic presentation. Vegetarian highlights include spicy, crispy dumplings filled with tofu, vegetables and cellophane noodles.

Timothy Hutto

A quirky minimal Korean restaurant near the Theater District. The food and ambience are amazing but there are strange aspects that give the experience "character". Expect to be led through everything from finding the menus hidden in table drawers to consuming the dishes correctly. It delivers on flavor but isn't a destination I would choose for a second meal. Go here after theater or on a I want to impress some one dinner date.

Yu Hu

I went alone. The place is small but cozy. Great service and good food.

Paul Testa

A special place - a small jewel with tremendous care in their foods.

Matthew Truss

Fix your B rating... Your Restaurant Week tasting menu was delicious! Too many restaurants on W. 52nd Street have B ratings. What's up with that?

mamabear020305

Hands down the best meal of my entire life. The bulgogi beef sliders alone were unbelievably delicious. Attention to every detail from the cozy decor to the plating of each dish makes this place a treasure.

Enqi Fan

I rated one star not for the food but the services. We were group of five, and after we paid. They called us and forced us to pay extra large tips. Their service were not worth the tips. During our time they only came to our table three times. ordering the food, bringing us the food, and the check. There were no interaction with the staffs otherwise. tdlr food was food, service was bad.

Andrew

Creative, interesting and tasty food. Playful without being annoying. Slightly let down by indifferent service but a great example of NYC dining at its best.

Lee-on Pedahzur

We did restaurant week and it was a great deal. The only thing that made it a 4 and not a 5 for me, was that the k.f.c wings were too hot. I like spicy foods, but those wings were borderline unenjoyable.

Reed Palmer

Really enjoyed our meal. Bossam and tofu plates were delicious. It’s a small place with tight seating and shared tables though they pull it off. Really attentive service — I loved that they brought one dish at a time and replaced our individual place in between. I hope to be back to try more things, perhaps even one of the tasting menus!

Henrik Svensson

Good food, but to fast food

Pranav Reddy

Food was amazing. I had huevos pajeon racheros and it was delicious. If you know enough about Indian food, it tasted like pakodas. The hot sauce was legit as well. I'd visit again for sure. Only downside is the price. It might be great for a date night, but not for regular lunch/dinner. There are other restaurants around on 9th avenue which are much cheaper with similar quality of food. Do check this Korean American cuisine when you're around.

Paul Borchch

great Korean cousine , first time had been

Adrian Obleton

Really great food. Serving sizes are large and reasonably priced

Tom Madden

Excellent Service and Great dishes of Food.

Francis Ricci

Nice presentation, but not worth the price point. $17 for no frills (no kimchi or starters included) bibimbap is steep, compared to options in ktown, for example, and this didn't live up. The bibimbap (I got the beef) was lukewarm, small, and lacking flavor. Would not recommend.

Fredrik Nilsson

Pretty darn close to perfect! Early dinner before a broadway show. The waiter even asked if we were going to a show afterwards and had out of there in perfect time before the show started. Much appreciated! The food here is tapas style and we shared about 5 dishes. Amazing food!!

Zachary Starkey

Spectacular food, the pork belly especially. Go for the tasting menu to try a bunch of things, you won't be disappointed. My girlfriend and I loved it (she asked me to write that), and the spicy wings weren't overly hot.

Gillespie Attala

I certainly like the food and customer service, great location right next to my house. The staff members are always super nice. Will come back again.

Mark Diener

Excellent Korean classics with a twist. Great place to share plates. Must make reservations. Highly recommended!

Johnson Cooper

I Really love going there for any kind of meals ,staying ,meeting, dates and any type of parties.Menu was just amazing.Thank You!!

Jack Mok

Came here for restaurant week. Had the vegetable dumplings, spicy 'KFC' chicken wings, and two bibimbap skillets, one vegetable, and one spicy pork. The vegetable dumplings were piping hot, and the spicy wings were pretty delicious. The skillets were the star of the meal, but were a little inconsistent. Some of the rice was burnt in one skillet, whereas the other skillet had very little crispy rice. Still, both skillets tasted delicious with the gochujang provided. We were provided with complimentary ice cream after the meal - one flavor was toasted rice, the other was black sesame. Both were very enjoyable, and the toasted rice flavor had hints of caramel. Service was polite and attentive. Bathroom was clean.

Sabina Jones

If I lived in New York I’d come here all the time! Service is friendly and food is amazing, every person who entered the door when I was sat at the bar, commented how good the food smells and believe me it tastes as good as it smells! The sizzling bibim-bap is amazing, I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Ginnyus

The night we had dinner there, this restaurant could kill our daughter if she was severely allergic to chillies. When we ordered our dinner we firmly asked for NO chillies and sesame seeds but she was served heaps of chilli-paste in it but waitress and manager didn't take that seriously when I called her so it shocked us. It could be life and death situations for many people when they asked special dietary needs.

Peter Sundry

Good restaurant with good food, but not necessarily exceptional or had that wow factor. I would recommend trying the pork rib. The ambiance and staff were very nice. I would recommend it for a low, key neighborhood restaurant. Docked it two stars for offering a more Americanized food menu vs authentic Korean.

Antony Rodriguez

Had the brunch. Delicious! Great service and decently priced. It’s Korean so expect Korean. Not traditional necessarily but the flavors are there.

Daniel Gomez

Great tasting menu... very recommended!

Nicole Dolman

Great food and atmosphere

Pradeep Nair

Excellent food and even better service. Better to get a table, the community seating is a bit cramped. But it makes for lively conversations with your neighbors. They have a separate vegetarian menu. Highly recommend the "fire" dumplings and the tofu with ginger scallion dressing.

Amir Baxter

Finest spot to have something when in a hurry. The customer service is quick, pricing is convenient, awesome atmosphere. Highly recommended

Anon ymous

So good! Different take on korean food but I loved it. Bobby was our bartender and he gave us amazing service!
