The food was very good. Grilled Scallop Salad was a delicious meal. Excellent service.
Went here with 11 members of my family around the holidays. Great service and even better food. I had the spicy shrimp pasta that was delicious.
Our last night in New York and we came across this most beautiful restaurant!! The decor has high vaulted ceilings with massive stained glass windows and the fireplace!!! A small family could live in it!! I was in awe of this place. There were six of us dining...every meal we ordered was extrodinary as a collection the whole table was in agreement that it may have been one of the best meals we had ever had. Right from the first drink to the last bite. I would fly to NY just to go back to Brendan's!!!
The food and service is amazing. This place has been around for a long time. It is well worth the trip.
We stopped in by pure happenstance,my wife was shopping at nearby Macy's. The service was excellent, the food delicious and hot. Loved the soup of the day, tomato basil. Would highly recommend to any visiting tourists like ourselves!
My parents were in town and some relatives of us invited us for lunch there. They made a great choice! First of all, the place is beautiful! It looks like an old church with stained-glass windows, and a huge fireplace. It made me feel like I was eating in some historic place. Maybe I was? Second, the food is great! I had the Black Angus Steak, which was done like I wanted and was delicious. My parents took the Salmon. According to them - it's the best salmon they ever had! The service was also great. Nothing to complain.
My favorite place to eat near the garden
We found the food to be really good. The waitresses are not good at all (bad attitudes). We were in town for a long weekend and it's across the street from our hotel so we visited twice. The first experience we felt our waitress had an attitude but thought maybe she was having a bad night. Decided to give it another shot because the food is good and tonight's waitress was a different one and was actually worse!! If they can get some better help this place will be the best experience.
One of the best Irish bar in New York, the proximity to my office might be a leading factor to this high rating. Met some great people in here. Good beer selection.
Drinks were good!
Nice bar, a lot of choices for beer and other drinks. Not at the end, but quite good the food was over expectation. We have a very tasteful burger. Coffee is good as well (not only american style). Services 4 not 5 but ok.
Beautiful High ceilings. Decent food. 3 of us had dinner here tonight. Service was good. Had shepherd's pie and enjoyed it. Others had fish and chips. And a burger. Everyone liked the food. Prices are a little more then normally spent. And I did not notice a happy hour like other pubs. This place is a little upscale
Surprising nice restaurant at the rear - thought it would be an Irish bar (it is at the front)
Lovely bar highly recommended
Great service and food. But the most I love the interior, they have a fireplace!
Beautiful interior. Decent service. Decent food. Reasonable price.
Best Chicken fingers in the city!
Great food, friendly service, and amazing cocktails!
Great spot
Dinner before a show at the Garden. Good staff. Fish and chips, large portion and perfectly cooked.
Open for breakfast to people staying at The Gregory Hotel adjacent. Breakfasts were fresh and flavorful. The service was great. Although we didn't eat lunch or dinner here, breakfast was wonderful.
Good atmosphere not too crowded or loud. Decent snacks.
Very rude waitresses, unfriendly hostess, food is meh.. nothing special. The restaurant itself is very pretty and convenient for people who stays at hotel next door. But again, waitress that was serving us,terribly rude attitude. Won’t recommend
Decent bar, nice beer selection, good food and friendly bar tenders. Thumbs up
This was a great place! Came by it after going to see The Harlem Globe Trotters it was a bit late but they were kind enough to accommodate us 6 of us. We had a great meal and time!
Great food and atmosphere for a great price!
Anais irish-themed bar and restaurant on 35th Street in Midtown near the Empire State Building. Food is very good quality, service is decent. The atmosphere is nice to in the evenings High ceilings wood paneling tile floors, but not formal.
Great place. Friendly bartenders. Guinness and Fish & Chips! Great place for business travelers staying across the street
Beautiful place, very nicely decorated and with a great atmosphere. I loved the place itself, we just walked in, 5 of us and got seated immediately. Their food is good, the rib eye was tender and very tasty. Their lamb was also tasty, but small portions, well one of the two dishes anyway. It almost seemed like they ran out of it or something. They also had seafood dishes and burgers which seemed like good choices. In general a really good place, reasonable prices for what you get.
Food was delicious, staff was great, and the restaurant was beautiful. Def recommend
Great atmosphere, can get a little busy around happy hour. But it's a nice upscale spot on the street
Over priced for ok food at best
great atmosphere, great food and service..a place to enjoy an evening with out loud volume in the background..
They're really just trying to screw tourists, 17% tax automatically added for crappy service. The manager stares at you everytime she walks by. Not to mention the menus smell like vomit, not the best when trying to order food...
If I could give this place zero stars I would. First of all, the place gives nice impression. Cozy with a fireplace in the back. That’s it. The nice things about Brendan’s ending right here. So me and my husband staying at the hotel next door and since it was pretty chilly that night we decided to give this place a try. First we went to the bar for some drinks, but before all that I booked a table for dinner later on with a very slow hostess person... guess she’s new and definitely needs a better training. Moving on ... drinks are ok. I need to use the restroom so I ask waitresses for directions... lord Jesus that much of a stinky attitude for somebody who’s asking the simple question ?? Guess they had a bad day. Anyway, me and my husband are ready to get a table. And how lucky we are the same waitress with a super stinky attitude now serving us! Ana I believe her name was... now Brendan’s manager what kind of training do you provide for your employees??? Your employees need to smile sometime! This is ridiculous. Ruined our mood completely. And on top of that food was so mediocre ... I couldn’t believe the check with 17% service charge in addition. Would not recommend this place.
Cracking bar, terrific service from Adam, Andrew and Bryce. Foid is also outstanding
Visited Brendans recently early Saturday evening for the first time. Received a pleasant and friendly greeting from a hostess and immediately seated at a table for two adjacent to a non-functional fireplace. Waitress promptly took our drink order. Ordered one entree from the menu and one daily special. Both entrees were excellent; tasty, cooked to order and reasonably priced. Ambiance and decor were charming for a NYC pub/restaurant and service was first-rate. A thoroughly enjoyable meal and dining experience.
Great cocktail bar. Cool ambiance. looks like its an old bank. High ceilings. Very cool. Love stopping here whenever I am going to an event at MSG and sluggin a couple back.
Great Irish bar in Midtown New York.
Food was amazing. Great service, cool atmosphere. Reasonably priced for NYC.
Air condition didn't work, was very unconfortable.we go there very often.
Food was okay, beer selection was light.
Beautiful place and a great lunch
Nice place fair food
Quiet, large space, appealing atmosphere, tasty dishes
They try to rob tourists by automatically including a 17% service charge then bring you a receipt where you're supposed to write down the tip amount. The food is just ok. Avoid.
Excellent attention!!! And good value for money. The food is ver good. Caesar salad is tastied
Very nice setting with open window seating and friendly bar tender. My dessert was excellent and the soft, warmly lit decor was perfect for an after dinner drink.
The food
Nice spot for lunch, good salads and nice atmosphere.
Absolutely the best steak I have had in a while. My wife's hamburger was moist and delicious. These folks know how to focus on locking in the foods natural flavors. I highly recommend this place and the price is excellent. We actually went both Friday and Saturday and ordered the same thing. We have eaten at the best and this one ranks in my top 5. Great job!! This is a 5 star place for a 3 star price in a very comfortable look.
Great atmosphere great service food was delicious very nice fireplace
Great Irish pub /restaurant with good food
Wasn't expecting a whole lot but this place was great! Try the pepperoni pizza!
Great bartender and very generous with the pour. Good bar snacks and were never rushed.
Great food, good prices.
Awesome bar with good drinks and nice food! I recommend for everyone
Service Wend night was terrible. Waited 15 minutes to get noticed and get menus. Waited 20 mins more and had to go find someone to take our order. The place was mostly empty. Food was good. Can't wait to go back..........NOT#!!#
Great food and extremely friendly service. Too bad the bartender won't be there when we go back to New York as it was his last day.
Great food and drink at very reasonable pricing. Excellent staff!
It's not bad at all, it just does nothing but be a very neutral venue. Great for a professional meeting where you don't want the distractions of personality or anything good/interesting. It's the default choice at my company - and the fallback when nobody has/is willing to offer any ideas or can't agree on a place. The bar is awkwardly laid out for gathering more than a few people and always crowded in the evening besides, the food won't offend you but won't do much else for you either, and everyone who works there is very nice and does a good job of making you experience pleasant.
Outstanding quiet comfy bar in the garment district.
Had a nice burger and fries with a cold beer for an evening meal. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Good prices.
The best place to hangout with friends, have drinks and food, not too expensive, unique menu, different and attractive presentation of food. Nice staff, ambience, bar. Located in the heart of NYC. Super place..!
The wife loves this spot. She keeps referring to the steak. Been here 3x with her.
My own CHEERS
Was really nice food was excellent highly recommend
Brendan's is always great- they're a constant New York Manhattan bar that delivers solid drinks and snack foods. Service is great- huge ups to everyone who works there.
Great atmosphere excellent service enjoyable dining experience all around food was good.
Great bar tender great pizza
Great bar and service. Bar tender was a good guy.
One of the best restaurants in New York. Would love to revisit. Everything was perfect from interiors to food.
We went to this place later in the night after some bar crawl. I was expecting typical bar food but was pleasantly surprised by well presented and tasty food. The ambience was calming, not noisy. We were able to just hang out and have fun conversations. It was meant to be quick stop but turned out to be much longer. The service was great and the server stepped back to let us enjoy the evening which is much appreciated. So glad the music was not too loud.overall good experience
The food was absolutely delicious. Be sure to check out the specials. I had a lobster penne in a cream sauce with shrimp that had me licking the plate! Wonderful atmosphere and beautiful venue.
Average food - not much else to say.
Good food, great prices, good service
Great food, great beer just waiting for great result in the soccer YNWA!
Warm atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff, delicious food. Very enjoyable experience.
Victoria was great. The restaurant was right across the street from our hotel. The lamb chops were very tasty and service spot on for the price.
This is the meat and cheese plate. Well, this is bad sorpresata cut almost like cubes and cheap cheese with crackers!!Sorry, you shouldn't sell this one.
Great ambiance - friendly service - mediocre food at reasonable prices.
Warm and elegant ambiance. Food was perfect
Great meeting place
OMG It was THE BEST!!! The price was reasonable and food was fantastic!!! You will love them!
Lovely Irish bar, foods good as is the atmosphere.
Good food, great beer selection.
*** TOURIST TRAP *** Looked promising, but proximity to Broadway should have been a clue that I this place is over-rated. Only 2 tables occupied (by tourists) when we went in. Food was OK. Prices OK. Service was OK.. Should have trusted instincts. Learn from my mistake.
The food is always excellent and the atmosphere is awesome
Great food, assume staff
Food was good, service was good and the building is beautiful. It is a little less expensive than the similar resturants in the surrounding area. A large space that was a nice break from the hustle and bustle for a late night dinner.
Lovely old hotel surroundings. Good service 5 meals, pretty basic stuff. The food was good, mine was way too much pepper in the liquid. Price was ok till tax and 17% tip loadings added when we got the bill. Too expensive for what it was. Been there, won't be back.
Food is plain. I had the steak and it was just regular as if I had just plopped it on a skillet. Also, the bartender was much more interested in the basketball game than serving drinks. His back was to me most of the time. My empty beer glass sat on the bar, I even moved it to the edge of the bar. He brought my food then asked if I needed anything else, at which point I pointed to my glass and he looked at me, almost embarrassed realizing he had not checked his bar for quite some time. You won't miss anything by not eating here.
A Great place to go near 34St & Macy's. A good variety of food. Had a large delicious hamburger. Help was friendly & accommodating. Attractive & clean.
Looks fancy. Only had a beer here. Cant say much about the place.
As you enter this fine establishment, you see only a beautiful bar. The patrons ate loud, and you wonder how the dining experience will be. But once you walk to the back, you find an oasis of calm amid soaring chandeliers, stained glass walls, and a massive fireplace. The wait staff is attentive and courteous, and the food (Irish-American) excellent. Recommend!
Pizza was flavorful, very tastey
Very formal room dining Excellent menu
Beautiful bar with great food and wonderful staff
Good Irish breakfast and fast service
Nice food and the is good too
Great bartenders. Swanky space.
Historic setting. Good Drinks. Impressive burger.
Great Irish bar. good food. it looks small but if you go to the back it's L shaped so the back room has a restaurant. since it's L shaped the restaurant is removed from the noisy bar area and makes for a more quiet dining experience. Food is typical American Irish food but it's really good.
Lovely bar and had wonderful service from Andrew. Breakfast was good and reasonably priced compared to other places near by. Great ambiance and was connected to our hotel which was a plus.
Was a casual spot for a late night drink. Nothing special or fancy, really.
Breakfast was OK. Grilled toast was overdone and harshbrown too dry also.
The place was nicely decorated and pretty big, good for when you want a reservation for a big group of people. It was my first time eating the shepherd's pie, the mashed potato was nice and creamy and the top of it was broiled to a delicious crusty form. I really enjoyed it. We also had the cobb salad. It was good overall and they were pretty generous with the avocado. The bacons were a bit overcooked, but didn't change the experience that much. The complementary bread was also good. A bit sweet though, which I like but maybe others don't.
Really good beer and burgers! I love this place!
Really great atmosphere and food in a convenient location. Will return for sure!
My experience at Brendans Bar & Grill was TERRIBLE and I truly belief that it was because of my skin color. This place appears to be ashamed of minorities eating at their establishment. I made a reservation for two and arrived there first. When I arrived, I was seated all the way in the back; in a corner where no one coming into the establishment could see me, despite there being available tables/booths in the front. The host who directed me to the table did not seem comfortable speaking to me. When my colleague arrived who was not a minority person, he was seated in the front booth despite him asking for me, they told him I was not there even though, the reservation was under my name. My colleague texted me to say he was there, I walked to the front to get him and when I walked him to the back he commented, how they hid us in a CORNER. I ordered the Shirley Temple, which was terribly made and after taking two sips, I discovered a dead fly in my drink. My colleague's drink and food was fine. I reported this to the waiter, he took it away and asked if I would like another. I said no thank you and that was IT!!! When the bill came, I paid for the bill minus the Shirley Temple. I will NEVER go back to this place again. If you are a Minority person, you too should stay away from this restaurant because you will not be treated like you are a valued customer and BEWARE of eating or drinking there. You never know what you will find in your food or drink. Lastly, the restrooms were very, very poorly kept.
We sat at the bar with only a couple of patrons for at least 15 minutes. We’re completely ignored despite my husbands attempt to engage the bartender. He had 2 people at the bar besides us. Seemed to me like the color of our skin got us the stiff arm. Seems super short sided considering nobody was in the bar and we had money to spend. It is also well placed across from our hotel for the next week.
A quieter alternative with excellent service
Clean bar, relaxed atmosphere
Quiet place eat and the food is always good!
Plenty of choice for all. Great setting and ambience. Enjoyed very mych
Amazingly space with good drinks, plus had a decent burger. Gorgeous old wood bar, muted stained glass in the restaurant. The pictures tell the story!
Really beautiful space and old world feeling Irish pub. Some of the menu items are randomly good ( fish and chips, e.g.)
Ambiance was quite lovely. Nice and spacious. Staff professional and dinner was great.
Nice place to eat
WE had a first cousins luncheon with our NY, Phila. and New Zealand cousins and had a wonderful time. The ambiance ,the food , the service and the restaurant were all absolutely outstanding. HIGHLY recommend and we look forward to our next visit. The staff were really terrific.
worst experience ever! I am African American and i wanted to try out this restaurant because a co-worker had referred me too it and though it would be a nice place to go on a casual date. My friend and i gave it a shot. I ordered San Marzano Shrimp Penne and he Boneless Breast of Chicken Saute. My order didn't look anything like what was describe; it came with some type of tomato sauce. i didn't detect any Romano cheese; instead of broccoli i had some type of spinach mixed into the pasta. The overall meal was very bland and a waste of money. My friend didn't care for his meal either. We also order calamari as an appetizer and it came back very soft. I asked the waiter can it be made more crispy and it came back EXTRA crispy to the point it did not taste like Calamari but fried chicken; it was gross. I would never go to this place again...
I can't get over how I only just discovered Brendan's thanks to a fellow Google City Expert's recommendation. I totally expected it to be another dark Irish pub but instead, you walk into a space that looks like it was an old bank, with ridiculously tall ceilings (think 2-3 stories high) with medallions, huge light fixtures and stained glass windows. A nice combination of booths and table abound, with a second floor I need to pop up to. Delicious food, too. The Oriental Chicken Salad still has me licking my lips and you'll laugh, but the table French rolls were FANTASTIC. Love it!
Local joint with friendly staff
There was this one uptight waitress
Solid and reliable Irish Bar and Restaurant in a hotel. Not spectacular or creative, but the food is always solid and on this block its one of the more reliable places to grab dinner
Had a couple drinks catching up with a good friend. Very cool, chill space. Did not eat, but the food looked good. Wide variety of drinks to help you make it through the night.
My hangout place
Visited for dinner. Typical midtown fare. I ordered an Aperol Spritz, which wasn't too bad, but the stem and base of my glass weren't clean, not entirely sure what that was about. Prepare to be warm if you visit and are seated at the very rear of the restaurant during winter months (the rear benches house some of the restaurant's radiators, go figure)
Nice spot for a dinner party or for just two folks
Classic tavern setting decorated festively for the holidays. I ordered a classic cheeseburger and my friend ordered the Asian salad. Both were well prepared. Great place to have lunch or dinner away from the chaos of holiday shopping. Just down the block from Macy's.
Meh. Food was ok, service was poor. Great looking space though.
A tad pricey......
Good food and good service. I recommend the Shepherd's Pie.
Great service and good value. Lovely high ceilings. Definitely would go again.
Pretty place. Slow service. Nice overall.
Service was just adequate. Needed to flag waitress down for dessert, check, dressing, etc. Table in front of fireplace is too close to bathrooms and.kitchen. Food is.okay to good.
Breakfast. It was ok. Just food.
Very pleasant bar and grill with good service, good food, nice decor, and a pleasant atmosphere. If you are sensitive to noise and want to have a conversation, be sure to be seated in the back. The bar area can be quite loud. I've always found this restaurant to be a good choice for meeting people close to Penn Station for drinks or dinner, and my guests have reliably been pleased with the choice.
Went with my boyfriend and daughters. When you enter you don't know where or if they have a hostess stand to dine in. The staff AREN'T friendly. We got a table for 5 and we weren't sure who was the server. We waited to order drinks and when she finally came she took our food order like we were being rushed and it was only 7pm and the place wasn't busy. Our food came out before the drink's we ordered. (I ordered Capt and coke and received Capt abd and DIET..NOT good) Needless to say, whoever was our server never came back to ask how everything was. My boyfriend asked for a medium RARE burger and got it well done. The burger was dry like the sand. The only staff that was friendly and professional was the server assistant, Santos. If you like nice dinning experience DON'T come here.
Nice place kind of non discript
Great food and service
It was late, not many places left open. Food and service were uninspired.
my best friend and I ate dinner there last night for my birthday while visiting New York. The food was awesome.
Space is amazing. Go to the back.
Beautiful and won't break the bank. Gorgeous. Usually no wait. Reasonable prices. Good choice for Midtown.
D I S G U S T I N G !!!! food is no taste whatsoever, they charged me 17% of service because we were 5. Horrible place. don't go there
Great atmosphere and food was good as well. Went here for a business meal and we had plenty of space and it was quiet enough to have conversation. The waitress did seem annoyed that we were taking up a table but there were so many available.
The cake is perfect!! Everything was great
Yes the building is nice and the staff attentive but you can't overlook the fact that the food has no flavor at all. No salt no pepper no butter no spice. Even my Irish born mother-in-law at age 90 can do a better split pea soup and corned beef and cabbage. Does the management even taste what they cook?
Stopped in for drinks with a mate - decent drinks for decent price with a nice looking old style bar.
Really place will go back again
I recently visited New York and had the pleasure of dinning at Brendan's Bar and Grill. The food was fabulous, staff delightful and friendly and the ambiance was relaxed . It's location is central and only 5 minutes from Macys. I would definitely recommend Brendan's for anyone visiting New York!!!!
Good food friendly staff
Goid food reasonably priced. Shame about sour faced maitre'd
Always great service. Thanks Andy.
Worst breakfast sandwich ever had. Tiny strip of pastrami tasted days old, egg was like plastic, and service was so rude. I walked in and said cheerfully "Good morning, I'd like to buy breakfast" guy totally blanked me and eventually spoke and tried to suggest I eat next door in the hotel. Why? Why would a customer be told to go elsewhere? Nuts!
Very beautiful place to eat. High decorative ceilings with large stained glass artwork. For this reason, it's always been one of my favorite NYC restaurants to eat at. Food was also very good. Had the fish & chips. Reasonably priced. The wait staff is also good.
