We offer you all the reviews of people who bought the services of Birdland Jazz Club (Restaurant) in New York.
Right now the firm has a rating of 4.7 out of 5 and the score was based on 1497 reviews.
As you can read, the average of ratings is basically the top, and it is based on a large number of feddbacks, so we may be quite sure that the valuation is very credible. If there are many people who bothered to leave their score when they are happy with the business, is that it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to write scores when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant corresponds to the category of Jazz club.
Love this place intimate and inexpensive admission try key lime martini
Always good! Patricia Barber was amazing, I don't know why the place wasn't packed.
Nice place. Good seating arrangements. Great service. Good portions on food. Music was just lovely. Would definetely go again.
Great venue for music. Sound is always properly set, and staggered elevation in seating helps with visuals. Service is ok, food and drink is ok; but Ur not going for these things. It's the music.
The food was amazing and the entertainment was SUBLIME. The service staff made me feel like family and they were incredibly professional and attentive. Absolutely would recommend!!
Great entertainment and a superb steak!
We were to see David Ostwald's Armstrong Eterity Band. Great band and real authentic jazz from the 1920s-1940s.
Great intimate atmosphere, excellent live music
So this was my first time visiting this classy establishment. James (behind the bar) really watched out for me. He's clearly respected by all the locals, and is a credit to the team. Oh and by the way, the music is incredible.
If Papo Vasquez & the Mighty Troubadores perform, I'll be there--he's extraordinary.
Lovely music with Amanda Brecker. Margerita with a special touch is also served
Amazing venue to hear live jazz. Intimate and elegant. Wondering lineup of performances. Terrific selection of drinks and savory meals. We had the cheese plate appetizer, which was delicious. There is a $10 minimum the club imposes, which is understandable, given the economics of showcasing live music. Jazz is an American treasure that needs more exposure and visibility. We were seated up front, near the stage. Acoustics were incredible. There is not a bad seat in the place. Very impressed with the service and ambiance. A must see for any jazz fan.
Good venue with lots of character & cool music
Wow! What can I say? Top class jazz in a perfect atmosphere! Great drinks and good food for the show are available! Would recommend coming some time before the show to snatch some good spots close to the stage!
Better than expected. Scored half price tickets and decent food/drinks with excellent talent. Would definitely go back. Even converted my local friend who was not excited about going.
A wonderful night! A great show and awesome food! A lively atmosphere with a legendary vibe! I love Birdland!!!
Good jazz club. Club offers different jazz music so make sure that you check the programme in advance so you don't end up listening to music that you don't like. Food is also good.
For the second year in a row we attended the Purchase College Latin Jazz Orchestras show @ Birdland. A very fun Jazz Club right in the Times Square area. We had a fantastic time. There is a cover for each show and a $10 minimum per person. We had excellent service the crispy pork belly appetizer was very good.
I have heard a lot about this place from back home, and I really like it once I got there. I had raspberry iced tea, along with southern fried chicken, ashed potatoes and gravy, along with collared greens for dinner. We saw a Clark Terry tribute show played by the Greg Ruvulo Big Band collective. As one who has not typically listened Clark Terry, I really enjoyed the show and even heard the chart C.T. express, which is a personal favorite. Great place, great time.
Great venue with the best jazz has to offer. Food is good and the staff attentive. The new theater downstairs is nice. Emily runs a nice ship. Had the opportunity to hang in the back. Very comfortable.
Manhattan's premier large jazz club. Tony Monaco (B3) with Steve Smith (drums) (from Journey fame) and Vinnie Valentino (guitar) We had front row seats for both shows. Cover charge plus a minimum which is easily met if you have drinks and/or food. By the way...the kitchen in this place knows what they're doing and service is spot on. Great location in Mid-Town.
Ah, the satisfaction of ticking something on one's to-do list AND it was as good as one wished it would be. This iconic nightclub was playing big band music when we first dropped by around 5pm to ask questions. Good thing we did. We met the congenial hostess wh explained things to us "cant go in for a drink now because the band was playing , " but she invited us to stay and listen. After we explained we were going to the theater she instructed us to aave our tickets because if we presented them up return we would get 50% discount. This did not include $10 per person cover. There is a full menu and the food was excellent. Staff was attentive and the decor was "jazzy". The group we heard were legends. There were many jazz aficionados there and many from around the world. It was fun and so cool to be someplace like one has seen in a movie.
It's Birdland. World famous. legendary music venue that did not disappoint. Intimate, elegant, great sound, great seating, attentive and accomodating staff who made sure you knew you were welcomed back.
Excellent! Amazing service and the food was impressive... Me & my father are privileged enough to personally know Ron Carter so we decided to stop by and see him play. Nobody talked during the entire show which made it much more enjoyable.
Show and good we're both great. It was a slow night but the band was really having fun.
David Ostwald's Louis Armstrong Eternity Band was very entertaining and talented. Food was good and the service great!
Lovely place with nice live jazz music and well served drinks. Unforgetable!
Great music. Great food. Love Carmen and the Count Basie Band.
We had reservations for Birdland to see the Freddy Cole Quartet on Saturday 13th July, the evening of the big power outage in Manhattan. We get to the club expecting the performance to be cancelled, but we’re allowed in. The club is dark, with only candles on each table providing light. Freddy Cole has been trapped in his hotel room – elevators are out – but his son Lionel is here, as is the rest of the band. Despite this, the show must go on, and they put on a truly atmospheric and memorable performance.
Amazing place. I wanna come back again and again
I like that this spot is street level and spacious. The food was delicious too. Really nice place.
A very pleasant and intimate venue with good live music. Enjoyed it. Also you need not have dinner, there is a $10 minimum, easily covered by a drink.
Fabulous as usual. No dining this time just attended Jazz performance. A favorite venue when visiting NYC
I really enjoyed it! But the pizza wasn't worth it...
Great music, of course. That's what we came for. But also great service. Timely, attentive and most people were done with dinner before the show started. Guests of the first set were invited to stay for the second set. We felt much more welcomed than for instance in a Jazz club down on 3rd street where they are more pushy and more interested to get the crowds in and out. The Birdland is now one of our favorite Jazz clubs.
Absolutely amazing. Food? Amazing! Drinks? Amazing! Customer service? Amazing! We were in the lower level having an outstanding time with Troy Roberts, but if you get the chance to visit upstairs I highly recommend you do. Everything here is top notch, the decor is simply elegant but doesn't distract from the real reason for coming: the great live jazz! The bar offers more than you'd think in a smaller sized venue, and the food was dynamite! You have to take the stairs because there's no elevator or escalator, so be aware, but they are carpeted and clean. If we are ever in New York again we'll definitely be hitting up The Birdland Jazz Club again!
Not cheap. Definitely on the tourist track. But for good reason.... the entertainment is always top notch. Pricing is insane though.... But yeah. It's basically Times Square. Gotta pay the rent somehow. Go here for the music and maybe an appetizer. Skip everything else. Worth it if you are at ALL a jazz fan.
The venue had great ambience and is definitely a jewel in the city! Music was wonderful and entertaining, but the waitress could of been more aware of her surroundings. Besides getting swiped from my pony tail a couple times the overall experience was fun! We will definitely be back and arrive earlier for better seats in front of the band. (Fyi - only had beer and an appetizer...not enough to review the food).
I've been here a number of times. A cozy atmosphere where you are close to the talent. Dinner is very good, served quickly. The bar is great too and you can order food there as well. Parking is always the issue but I've been using a parking app and it's been great. There is a lot next door and one around the block. The subway entrance is right on the corner. They don't over charge you for dinner either and in this city that is a huge complement.
First experienced the place in 2008 with my mother we were found it by accident. Always been a big jazz fan, but never been to a big band live event before, and wow they blew me away back then and they blew me away again this time. It is clear that the place has become a lot more turisty the last 10 years, but I feel that for a Times Square establishment with a great band, the price of both food and drinks are fair, and the service is fast and discrete. Warmly recommend!
Best acoustics I ever experienced. I went to Birdland for the first time to see George Gee's orchestra this weekend. George is one of the best bands in the country for sure, but the acoustics are like no other venue I have ever been to in my 20 plus years of listening to live jazz. The room is set up so the music doesn't have to travel further than maybe 20 feet from any instrument to everybody in the venue. There is no dancing at this venue though, there is no room. And, they don't allow it.
You can sit anywhere still get a good view
Great seats everywhere in the club. Acoustics are excellent. Food is good. I will go back many times.
Jazz is Life! I really love this place especially the performers who always refreshes my soul with their wonderful sets.
Fantastic live music. A bit pricey for the table but well worth it. And the food is decent.
Very cozy and intimate setting, ambiance is sexy and romantic! Food was decent, nothing TOP CHEF rated, but still yummy The band was amazing We went on Valentine's Day and it was very grown and sexy! We will definitely return!
Intimate not a bad seat in the house with reasonable show prices
Took my wife and son for our first live jazz performance. We loved it. Amazing up close experience with the most talented Grammy and Tony award winner, Dee Dee Bridgewater . I am hooked to live jazz. Thank you Birdland.
I've rarely Been so well served. The music was amazing
Delicious food. GREAT music
We came here the second time for a jazz show(Bossa Nova) They had multiple artists throughout the week performing. I love how the place felt cozy and nice. The music was fantastic and the wait staff were very hospitable. If you are looking for some quality jazz artists this is the place to go!
The food was well - seasoned but not salty; excellent wait staff; setting - loads of ambiance and class. There are no bad seats in the House; the acoustics - fabulous! We got to see Ron Carter and his Big Band - stellar performance, as always! A very memorable occasion!
We decided to check out The Matthew Whitaker Quartet and they were AMAZING!!! However the food was awful. It was cold, i could tell my meatballs were that's in a microwave (not cooked in the marinara sauce), and the service want that great either. That's the only reason I have three stars
Great food, show, and atmosphere. Classy spot.
Awesome place! Saw The Count Baise Orchestra. Nothing beats live jazz music. They are organized and you can tell this isnt their first rodeo.
Excellent atmosphere. Very good food. Courteous waiters. Reasonable prices. They just had it all.
I am glad that places like this still exists. Great music. Great ambience. Good choice of wine.
Highly rated, we gave it a shot but for a cover charge of 40$ and at least 10 of food per person (reasonable for NYC), we expect betyer. The service was admirable but the band was not that good ...
Always great Jazz to be had.
Quality menu with very good food and service. Historical jazz club with wall to wall pictures of the famous musicians who have graced the stage.Tonight, Emmitt Cohen Trio with very special guest George Coleman. Great set. 2nd special guest on tenor sax Ruben Fox, a Coleman protege. Looking foward to next visit.
Love this place. Live entertainment. Reasonable price. Great music. Organized. Good pub food.
Went to see the Jive Aces at the theater down stairs. Tickets are reasonably priced but expect to pay minimum of $10 per person per set for drinks. They also serve dinner and its expected you order something. Its decent food. Nice venue seating maybe 150 people (large.for a jazz venue). Good sound and a great evening. Support live music and catch a show there.
Great show "like a perfumed woman "
Very good acoustics for a venue of this size.
Thais place is simply fantastic! The ambiance is nice. They've taken care not to cram the tables to close together and the food was delicious. The house band is really good too, great sound and tons of energy!
A great show with great food and service. Highly recommend anyone who enjoys jazz to come here. Couldn't have been happier with my experience and am glad I chose this jazz club over others.
Food was decent, nothing to rave about to be honest. Some seats will be affected by how the room is designed, I was seated right next to a post which blocked my right ear from hearing the show correctly, and blocked me from viewing the entire room. There shouldn't be a table in those spots.
Great place to enjoy Jazz. If you’re coming with one other person and want a seat in front of the artist, I recommend arriving 30 minutes before before they open. The food is mediocre so I recommend grabbing a bite before you come. There’s a small minimum that can easily be met by purchasing 1-2 drinks.
My friend had a birthday and we went in Birdland Jazz Club. It was my first time in this locations and i am really happy that i found it. The club is amazing and with great atmosphere. The music was awsome. The drinks were so interesting and great, the price is perfect. The customer service is on point.
Great food, great music, great people. If you like jazz and having a good time here is the place to be.
Great music, great atmosphere, great food, great service, great midtown location.
Always a wonderful experience. It’s like being in a 40’s movie. Food: not bad which was a revelation considering that Music is what the place is about.
Jazz was great and hostess was helpful. Food and wine sucked.
A very nice venue with attentive service and good acoustics. Some seats are better than others so if you don't want to be seated at the back side of the band you should probably ask. Prices are good for the quality. It has a bar to hang out at after the hour to hour-and-a-half that each paid seating lasts. Feels a little in and out, being timed and all, as compared to Joe's Pub for example, but if excellent jazz is your thing then it is a definitely worth a visit. Family friendly too.
Excellent venue and great music, seating is well proportioned and unlike some other New York has venues you are not crushed in like sardines. Probably my favorite jazz venue in NYC
Classy place with good food. I especially like the mussels and the gumbo (seasonally offered). The performers are uniformly talented. Sightlines are good, too. They now have a second even more intimate space (called the Birdland Theater downstairs). It is a very nice venue too but has a different and more limited menu. The cover charge is only $10 for either venue. Beers cost $8 and glasses of wine $12. If you are a tourist they have a gift shop selling nice Birdland New York City t-shirts. It's best to arrive early as it's normally first come, first seated. You can line up outside. There are two lines- one for those who have already purchased their tickets online (they go in first) and the other for those unticketed.
Great management! Loved the food!
Birdland Big Band on a Friday night proved to be a great night for our family in Manhattan. The band was awesome. Food was good. Atmosphere???? It's Birdland. Not crazy expensive compared to other NYC options on a Friday. Well worth the night out.
They blatantly lie on their website saying they will validate parking ticket from the garage across the street. Got the run-around from the waitress to front desk. Even the parking attendant warned that this establishment will try to fake validating tickets. Unexpected cost of $32.
Excellent afro latin jazz night!
Great show by Catherine Russell and her band. Service and dinner very good
The most amazing Jazz club/theatre that I’ve been so far including CA, NYC, and DC! I loved how they setup all the seats to see the stage very well. Chairs were comfortable which I really appreciate! Birdland was very audience friendly. Food was great as well!!! And the show? It was FANTASTIC!!!!!!
Birdland is a jazz club started in New York City on December 15, 1949. The original Birdland, which was located at 1678 Broadway, just north of West 52nd Street in Manhattan, was closed in 1965 due to increased rents, but it re-opened for one night in 1979. A revival began in 1986 with the opening of the second nightclub by the same name that is now located in Manhattan's Theater District, not far from the original nightclub's location. The current location is in the same building as the previous New York Observer headquarters.
One of the best Jazz bar. Dont hasitate to visit
This well run long time legendary bar is a must stop for any trip to the City. Though most who go are from the area, if you love jazz you must go. You will not feel like a tourist, you will feel a part of a terrific community of music lovers. The early show is a perfect way to have a most excellent dinner (the risotto cakes are worth the trip) and enjoy a great performance. Still time to hit a Broadway show or nestle in and stay for more jazz.
Great place to see music
If you love jazz, what more can I say?
Good sight lines from just about all tables. Great drinks. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked really good.
Good food and live entertainment
Nice historic spot. The food was really good.
I love this establishment clean vibrant good entertainment! Top acts close stage...small pricey. But a great night out!!!
Went to Jim Caruso's cast party on Mondays and it was a good time. Lots of first time and repeat performers with a variety of musical talent. Also tons of regulars in the crowd who bring energy to the room. Jim was telling us how Martin Short dropped by one evening and did standup, but that might be a rare occasion. My favourite part of the show have to be how the pianist, bassist, and drummer picked up songs so quickly. Also don't sit/stand on the piano if you are performing.
love the jazzy spots still alive in new york in this day and age.
Perfect night in NYC. The staff was super nice and helpful and the waiter at the bar gave us the best service. Food and music were amazing. We will definitely go back next time we are in town.
Gianni runs a great ship here. A nice comfortable Club where the customer comes first, the jazz is great and the food and Personnel especially are top-notch
Great atmosphere, the best food I had on my New York trip, and friendly staff. Very nice experience!
The environment is so good. The music, the food. The best NY experience you can find. New favorite spot!
This may be the coolest place I’ve ever been to. Awesome band, food & service. Terrific value. Get there early to get a great seat (though all the seats are ok)
Nice place. We wanted to listen live Jazz and here we found a show with a very big band, 16 musicians as I could count. All very good, very good show. They charge a cover of $30 p.p. at the bar and $40 p.p at tables and include 1 drink. Good experience.
Amazing jazz bar. Top performers. Come early to get best seats.
Great venue, never disappoints! When we're up for some good Jazz, this is our goto place in NYC.
Exactly what you'd expect, a bunch of birds playing jazz... actually it's not at all what you'd expect but it's pretty cool anyway
Great jazz club with a wonderful atmosphere. Dinner runs around $25 per person
Whether you go on an average weekday or major holiday, the Birdland Jazz Club always offers an amazing experience. Highly recommend!
Here always gives me relaxed, quality Jazz and time. I came here alone this time, worth enough that I’ve been filled with great music. Ted Firth Truo, all piano , drum and bass are GREAT !!!!!! Guest singer Marilyn was so powerful:-) Blown up completely !!!
Iconic jazz club with historic significance. Great contemporary musicians, good (expensive) food and intimate setting.
Wonderful, intimate venue. We saw the incredible Laura Osnes in concert here, and it was pure joy!
my favorite NYC Jazz Club. Always amazing, great view of Columbus Circle and yummy food too. Dont miss Dizxy's!
nice club something different was there for new year's eve awesome
One of the iconic jazz bars in NYC. Sometimes it's a bit too touristy but worth it. Get there before door opening to secure a table with a good view of the stage. Service is excellent, too.
Comfortable atmosphere (30high schoolers). Jazz is personal, so the selec tions were met with mixed appreciation
Happy Birthday to ME with Hubby.
Loved Birdland. The atmosphere is laid back; the drinks and the entertainment were wonderful Would definitely come back. Iconic location.
I hate shrimp. I ate an entire serving of popcorn shrimp here. And the Birdland Big Band is quite stunning too! They have nothing but fun and passion for their work. Love it!
Great place with food and jazz....Teddy Firth trio were playing...terrific musician /s....Ted's got a nice rapport with the audience...good table service, drinks were standard prices, enjoyable evening.
Great service, super nice music
beautiful atmosphere great music. What's the show with a little longer
Love this place - a legendary jazz club dating back to 1949, serving up reasonably good cajun food with bar and table service arrayed across a tiered dining room and stage. The concerts are such fun, expect to hear lots of name dropping, lots of backstage gossip, and hear music ranging from modern hits back to Prohibition-era classics. The blackened catfish earns special mention - spicy, crispy, moist, perfect served with braised collard greens. Save room for the Cajun style bread pudding too. Almost no bad sightlines in the place, nearly all the tables are excellent but it is still a good idea to get there when the doors open so you can stake out the best spot.
Great music. Nice large space. Sat at the bar. Friendly service. Good view of the stage.
Fantastic experience, really good food
Bought tickets on Groupon. Food was better than expected. Had a great evening.
Just amazing! The wife and I had the privilege of seeing the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra Sunday night. What a treat! Fantastic music and a wonderful atmosphere. We also ordered dinner and enjoyed that as well. Try the crab cake sandwich. Service was just perfect and we were well taken care of. Can't wait to come back!
I want to go back. The worst part-tourist prices!. BUT there is an "encore menu" with decent priced bar food they do not give you, but has desserts listed on it too.
Cozy and always adorable place to spend an evening listening to beautiful jazz music
You never know who you will meet at Birdland Jazz. Living legends and amazing up & coming talent.
Food OK, as expected, service great and music YES! Welcoming hostess, excellent accessibility for those with physical ♿ challenges.
Jim Caruso's cast party at 9:30 on Monday night - amazing! Especially Jughead
The whole family had a great time at the Monday night Cast Party at Birdland. Upbeat, light hearted and brilliant performances from a variety of guests. Good food too. I would highly recommend a visit.
Amazing atmosphere! The show was awesome and the food was delicious and plentiful! I love Birdland!!!
The jazz capital of the world! Great music, excellent sight lines, tasty food, friendly service.
One of the best jazz clubs in New York. A Saturday night experiencing some of the most soulful music in the world. Enjoying an old fashioned over rocks, served to you by the most courteous and classy bartender in all of N.Y., Chris. His smooth and approachable demeanor perfectly complements the atmosphere the wonderful Birdland jazz orchestra has been able to maintain and improve through all their shows. I will certainly be coming back soon.
Went here with my mom for Mother’s Day. It is a very comfortable place with a nice ambiance, you are very close to the performers. They also have a good food and drink selection.
Decent bar. Ok service. Good atmosphere. The pianos are a great novelty and definitely fun. Food was eh, but there are plenty of great restaurants downtown.
What an awesome place and great food! We listened to Catherine Russell and her septet. Outstanding performance!
Excellent space to experience music. It's intimate without being claustrophobic. The staff is curtious and professional.
Nice music and atmosphere. Bloody Mary was amazing
Monday nights at Jim Caruso's cast party are always a surprise of fun and talent!
Lovely music venue, great for a date, night out with friends or looking to just listen to some good live music.
If you’re not from the USA and if you like to discover jazz, this is the place to be. Performance was great, food was ok.
Amazing atmosphere, a premium jazz and a delicious food. If you like jazz, it is a must go.
Excellent food & service -- and the show was amazing. This is a great place to see jazz!
Visited with family in March of 2019. Cozy place with wonderful jazz music.
Spacious venue with polite staff and amazing artists.
We really enjoyed Anita Gillette's show 'Me & Mr B ' about her friendship with Irving Berlin. It's a simple show packed with Berlin's songs and Anita's personal stories about him. So glad we caught the show. Anita was gracious to take lots of photographs with us.
We were watching the trio Stephen Crump ,the best! The service was great also
Really great energy! Lots of fun! Wonderful music! :)
The show was great. Come early so you can get good seats. It's best to come early and have dinner there. Q
Perfect set up for listening music. Comfortable spacing. Great service.
Good food and great music.
This great venue is quite small so you're up close. The food is good and the service is discreet during the show. I had the chance to see Stephanie Nakasian. Her daughter, Veronica Swift was playing the same night upstairs so she came down and sang with her mom: a great bonus for us! Diner and the show was $165 for 2. Highly Recommended!
Nice venue, polite waiters, tasty food. Positive experience. **Shame they could not validate the parking ticket from Edison Parkfast which is just across the street, though their website says they would ended up paying $32 instead of $20 as mentioned in the website..**
High class club and theater!
Nice and very organized place . I like it
What a delightful experience, highly recommend birdland jazz club! Charles Turner was absolutely incredible.
Great seating. Great food. Beautiful interior.
Great venue. Well organized. Outstanding program tonight
This is a joke of a seat!! How can they charge you for a place where you can't even see the band?!?! This experience was truly dissapointing
Classic Theater District jazz club with roomy red environs, a large bar & Cajun-influenced food - While locations have changed over the years, there’s no doubting Birdland’s place in jazz history: Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis and John Coltrane have all performed at the club. Named after Charlie ‘Yardbird’ Parker, another icon of the genre, Birdland transports visitors back to jazz’s golden age with its classically cool decor and vibe. Birdland calls itself the “jazz corner of the world,” and by all estimations, they are not exaggerating. The venue is home to popular events including the annual Django Reinhart NY Festival as well as the Umbria Jazz Festival in NYC.
