The atmosphere is beautiful. I love the whole theme. The employees were prompt and checked in a reasonable amount of times. The food was great. I love the milkshakes and burgers. The prices are excessive. According to the theme it seems more like a place people such be able to just sit down but you have to wait to be seated, even when half the place is empty. It seems like they are creating a look of a retro diner that would go great with a pinball machine and/or a jukebox in the corner but they are serving people like it is a serious restaurant. It doesn't fit very well. I did enjoy the food and seeing all of the amazing pieces decorating the place. Overall, totally worth it.

What a good experience! A very fun 80s themed diner with a large menu and reasonable prices (for Manhattan). Milkshake happy hour starts at 3:00, and makes them half off. It could use some better A/C during the hottest parts of the day, but the fans were okay. Skip the fries and get those delicious tots!

Underwhelming. Overpriced, even for Manhattan. $20 for two shakes. My wife got the triple chocolate disco and there was way too much alcohol flavor to it. I got the cookie monster and it had an odd taste to it. Metallic. Not good. I used to own a restaurant that served ice cream products and have made thousands of shakes. None of which tasted metallic. Decor is great. Retro 80's. Our waitress was wonderful. Friendly and always smiling. Took good care of us, so I left her a really good tip.

One of a kind original style American diners, but they’re not your traditional place as they offer a wide selection of meals and drinks including plenty of specials. Our server made us feel at home from the moment we entered. Quite pricey but you’re paying for the experience. Bathrooms could do with a bit more TLC, or just a deep clean!

A good dinner/ comfort food restaurant. The burgers are really good and the pancakes are filling. The shakes taste like regular shakes so $8 wouldn't justify it. Nice for families and teenagers if your trying to get a bite. They do have some things that are unreasonably priced like $5 for 3 strips of bacon and $2 for an extra cup of syrup if your ordered pancakes (I'm not kidding, and the syrup comes in a shot glass). Other than that it's a great place.

I go here all the time, and I think it's great. Been there many times and have never had any issues with the food or service. Although, when you go there, be aware that this place is an American comfort food restaurant. So, if you want one of the items they do best, it probably won't be low calorie. I also love the decor makes you feel like you're in 70s or 80s America. Great food and an overall great experience.

Went here for a date night with bf. We enjoyed ourselves and the food was good. We like the dated decor it’s really need to look around and recognize things from our childhood. Service was great and the server was nice and helped us with the menu and told us about the promotions. Will return one day. I’ve been twice already.

We travelled from New Zealand and came to visit Big Daddy's because we heard great things and we were excited to see what it was all about! The food was amazing but the service was honestly disappointing, it seemed almost as if our waiter couldn't be bothered doing his job. We ordered drinks and both times we did, our orders were forgotten about; we had to keep reminding our waiter who was too busy chatting with his co-workers up at the bar to remember our order. The first time he said that "the bartender was busy" so we didn't think much of it, but the next time we were one of only two tables in the restaurant so I think he was just honestly blaming his incompetence on the other staff which is disappointing. Never came to check on us to see how the food was or anything, just kind of ignored us completely. We had to ask another waitress for our bill and she wouldn't give it to us, said we had to wait for our waiter which I'm not sure as to why because he never appeared again; we had to wait about half an hour just for him to come and give us our bill so we could pay and leave. He then just chucked a card machine in our faces, and looked aggravated when we asked if we could pay by cash instead. It's really sad because the food was spectacular and it would have been an amazing experience had the service not been so awful!

Awesome! Lovely classic American diner. The breakfast was delicious for a reasonable price. Moreover, there was a wide variety to choose from. The waitress was really nice and the service quick. I highly recommend this place. That's how dining is fun. Thank you for the great time. It is normal in the U.S., especially NYC, that you get the check if you say that you don't want anything else. You should not downgrade the place, due to your lack of infomation.

The milkshakes are fantastic! I had the Oreo Overload. They have many more that look amazing as well and I will be back again to try another. Great place to go and relax after a night out. The interior of the restaurant is really vibrant and interesting as well. They have a really friendly staff and great prices.

Had a reservation for four at 11:45 arrived at 11:28 by restaurant s clock, was sat at a tiny 4 top near bussing station, while booths were open. When we asked to move we were told "no, booth was for parties of 5 or more" yet three booths were occupied by parties of two, three or four.

Amazing food, service, and ambiance. I went in with a group of 15 people and we were seated immediately. The waiter was super kind and patient. The menu is hard to read, it’s too extravagant, but that fits the theme of the diner, so it isn’t a bad thing. I ordered a Mac and cheese sandwich and it came with tater tots! absolutely delicious.

On a recent work trip to NYC i had very little time to visit anything properly "American" but Big Daddy's was super close to my office so before heading to the airport i stopped for a quick classic American dish... a burger (which was average) and Ralph Macchiato (a delightfully named and delightfully alcoholic milkshake) Its was lunch time so service was slow, but unlike most places I visited in New York at least it was friendly :)

Wait time was a bit long for lunch hours when people are known to be on the clock and a bit of a rush especially it was surprisingly not crowded. Beyond that the food was great and the servers were nice once they came to the table. There are a lot of food options to choose from (breakfast, lunch). There shakes are also excellent.

If I had to rate on my meal alone, I would give five stars. But as it happens, there's more to it than the chew. The service here is routinely slow, bumpy, and inattentive. If the chicken and waffles wasn't the best thing ever, I'd never go again. Each time I visit (save one) I have to wait forever to find out who my server is and then place an order. Today was no exception. A couple came in after me and was halfway finished their meal before mine ever hit the table. Then someone decided we needed more air and turned on the overhead fans full blast, which blew napkins and sugar packets everywhere and prematurely cooled my waffle and my four dollar-coffee. Yes $4 for an 8-ounce mug of coffee.

Well this is one that was kinda aggravating. Me and my girlfriend went in to get some breakfast on a Sunday and the Initial wait was ridiculous with no one caring if we were there and we figured let's give it a chance. When we finally got seated and finally got something to drink the coffee was absolutely horrible and had to be put the side. We tried a frozen hot chocolate which seemed cool but ended up with marshmallows that were also frozen and hot chocolate mix in chunks. Then the plain water truly tasted like it was out of the faucet. Once the food finally came we hoped it would be good. The fried chicken was definitely cooked in dirty oil which we could tell from how it looked and then the taste. The waffles were alright. My eggs were like hotel eggs no better than that bacon undercooked. The syrup itself was ridiculous like brown water is what it was. The only thing actually decent was the tots. Unfortunately I am pretty aggravated to be writing this after paying fifty dollars for a terrible experience and terrible food.

Before it became a 80s diner, it was sure a 50s diner ;-) at least the furniture.... But all the decoration with the neon lights and (mostly autographed) pictures from 80s tv-shows and movies making this diner unique. Service was fast, stuff very friendly. Especially to a family with birthday children next table to us. Will bring my little nephew for a diner experience. Our burgers were good, but not over the top or fancy: real comfort food as they advertise.

Absolutely terrific traditional style Americana food!! Yet, not so traditional in the sense of the usual boring and mediocre tastes of American food. Yes these are huge portions - enough to share easily , but it's the elegance of how it's served and the tastes that make this place more then special. From the Challauh bread French toast, the larger then life amazing sausage links ( gotta have them) and the 50's style awesome shakes, this place will bring you back to a time and culture when food was what brought the family together- cellphone free.

I went there with my sister while visiting NYC, following the recommandations of my Lonely Planet guide. I wanted to dine in a diner and am glad we went there. The staff is quite nice, although we got used to better service in other places in the US, but always friendly, it only took a bit long to get the check. The atmosphere is really nice, the interior design is great and colorful. The food is also excellent and huge portion, it's a good thing we shared the milkshake, pancakes were really fluffy and so tasty, I also liked the mac&cheese and my sister loved her onion rings and burger, but we couldn't finish unfortunately. Prices are OK for the area. We might go back if ever in NYC again. Really nice place.

Says serving breakfast anytime everywhere throughout the store & on the menu. Majority of the menu is breakfast. Walk in and the waiting staff says they stop serving breakfast at 11am. Was looking forward to it since the one uptown closed. Was nice about it but I left. Even though the diner wasn't really busy they seemed a little low on staff. I went around 2pm.

Food was good service was good. Waitress was attentive and polite. We went here mainly for the milkshakes for my daughter's graduation. Sadly when we got the milkshakes it wasn't as they advertise it. They were very simple and with no decorations. We spoke to a man who seemed to be the manager of the place but he made it seem like it was no big deal. We was told that they don't make it like in the pictures because its either to busy or they don't have what's needed. A couple minutes later we saw other people get the milkshakes with decorations all around the cups that made it look beautiful. The good side about it is that even though the milkshakes weren't served as advertised we did get them at a discounted price.

We foolishly ordered the salads, which were sweeter than I expected. This is a burger joint - order a burger! Even the mini burger we ordered for our kid (that I heated up the next day) was amazing so please lean in. The atmosphere there was super fun, lots of memorabilia. And despite aiming for "healthy" eating, they gifted us with a chocolate ice cream shake due to child in tow. Definitely will return with our friends!

For my first time coming to America and New York I was really looking forward to the food, and until I stepped foot in Big Daddy's I was disappointed (the food was so much smaller than I expected!) Big Daddy's is exactly what me and my misses wanted. Hearty food, good service and a nice 80s diner vibe. We loved it so much returned for a second night in a row to have our last nightly meal in New York before we leave tomorrow. You won't be disappointed

Great ambience! Love the food, definitely coming back. However, my friend ordered a side of syrup and the waiter brought a small little cup (barely even a shot) and charged us $4 for it. I don’t think the restaurant itself is pricey but $4 is way too much for what we received. It didn’t even have the syrup consistency. Other than that, great place.

Can 50s diner kitsch die already? The service and the food were just ok. There are two bathrooms. Not enough to service the number of seats, so you end up waiting with a lovely view of the kitchen. The menu is also too hard to read, because every dish is named after something or someone that died. I wouldn't go back.

Super slow service. They blamed it on a 10 too that came in for lunch, but I fail to see why one party of 10 can detail service that much. This place serves really creative takes on 50's style diner food. Tater tots are crispy, even when under a couple sunny side up eggs, the spicy fried chicken on waffles is excellent, the drinks are large and the service is great. Had a birthday brunch here a while back and probably will again.

Sat at the bar for lunch, bartender was alone and clearly did not have adequate support. Manager was wandering around not really “doing” anything. We waited >20 minutes for food and another woman waited >15 minutes for a bowl of soup to go. I asked the manager what was going on and he had nothing to say. Manager needs some training or to be replaced. This was on Sunday 8/25 at ~2:30 PM EST.

For the first time I had to walk out of a restaurant. I normally like Bid Daddy’s and since it’d been a while, I decided to come here with my husband on our way walking home. Walked in at 7:20pm on a Tuesday night, we were seated in 5 minutes and we gave our order 5 minutes later at 7:30. Then, 25 minutes flew by and we hadn’t received our food. We asked the waitress and she said the kitchen was busy right now. So we ended up waiting another 15 minutes thinking it was coming out any minute. Finally at 8:10, we decided to leave hungry and very disappointed. And I saw another server getting numerous dishes out time after time (min 5 times walking out with his food) for his huge party upstairs. Other tables looked very annoyed and irritated as well so the cooks clearly were only serving one party and not splitting up orders. On top of it, the waitress was very polite and nice but she was outside the whole time serving people drinks and milkshakes. Part of the job is also pushing the cooks to get your order out in a timely manner. I was a waitress so I know. And then she looked disappointed when we told her we were leaving before our food even came out. And several people were waiting at the door but nobody had gone up to them yet for serval minutes. Probably because nobody was turning tables. Unacceptable. Food should be brought out within 20 minutes of ordering, end of discussion, not FORTY minutes. Lost 2 customers tonight.

Every time I visit Big Daddy’s it almost never disappoints me. The pancakes are delicious as well as the tots. Make sure you ask for plain pancakes otherwise the pancakes with the berries get soggy and the berries are too much. The burgers are ok and the shakes are delicious. Something you should avoid is the coffee its not as good as to pay $4 for it and sometimes it tastes old and burnt. Overall Big Daddy’s is my go to spot when I'm craving some good pancakes and some delicious tots its way better than ihop.

Wished we got more cookie dough on our cookie dough pancakes, but overall did the trick for our craving. The tots were greasy as expected but the grilled chicken sandwich was pretty good! Thinking they’re more of a breakfast spot for sure.

It's got some of the most amazing comfort food and attentive staff! I went with my girlfriend, we had a great time playing their trivia and taking in the cluttered nostalgic digs! The pancakes are the bomb, the Mac is KING, the service is top notch, and if nothing else it's got a decent location and a varied enough menu to keep anyone feeling welcome. Can't wait to go again and try more of the menu.

Save yourself the time. I went on a calm friday afternoon around 2, and was ignored for more than 20 minutes after being seated. I’ve never gone to a restaurant and wasn’t acknowledged for that long until visiting big daddy’s. All the waiters seemed to not pay any attention to the visitors and were unenthused or too busy talking to each other. We had to ask for water even though they had plenty of cups ready on the counter up front. I contemplated on leaving but the waiter finally took our order, only to interrupt me mid sentence and then bring me the wrong shake. Never checked up on us again after that. Overall, the service and food is below subpar. The burgers were tasteless, maybe even unseasoned and the “chocoloco” shake tasted like cheap chocolate candy. We had high hopes for this restaurant and I love the retro decor, but the service, on top of the tasteless food makes this place absolutely not worth it

The only NYC diner I love! Perfect place to bring friends - because of the funny name, menu options, and decor. Everybody will find something they'd like to eat here! (Or drink - there's plenty of creative, delicious cocktails like the Christmas Eggnog one!). It's also one of the only good affordable restaurant by Union Square, maybe comparable to Ippudo Ramen. Don't miss out - come here and bring friends!

I love me a Diner experience, but this was a mediocre place. Waited forever before someone came to take our order. As for the food. Love there burgers and there cookies monsters shake is awsome! but the salad was to sweet and the French fries that I ordered for my kid tasted old and stale.

Great spot for late night eats. Chicken fingers, Mac and Cheese and Burger were all fantastic, the only exception being the fried mozzarella sticks were absolutely horrible. Fun 1950s/pop culture decor. Friendly and helpful wait staff and clean bathroom. Would've scored higher had it not been for multiple loud kids hanging out, laying on benches, and yelling across the diner. For weekday late night eats though, this is the place.

A great diner for the family. There's a huge selection of foods. I found the Grand Daddy burger and salad a little too salty, but still tasty. If you're sitting by the windows in winter, expect it to be drafty

They have a large selection. The wait service was great. I had the tot nachos. They were great. Tata tots with cheese, guacamole andsour cream. The price wasn't bad either.

Good food, amusing decor, silly specials. It's a fun place to eat! A little on the pricey side, but they have enough unique items (how many different ways can you order a tater tot? MANY) to make it worth a stop by. Yum.

Great place, good food! The atmosphere is absolutely amazing! We loved it so much that we filmed parts of the experience with our VR gear so that we could share the experience with our friends and family on the Oculus Quest. Definitely worth the visit!

All I wanted was an order of wings and she wouldn’t take my order over the phone even though I was coming to pick it up myself so I had to walk in and order, waited for over 15 minutes! Terrible when they know people are on their lunch break!!!!

Service awesome...Confederate flag tin noticed by my friend who was paying and found that insulting....milkshake taste good but not thick enough...flavorful but fell flat on texture..stars are entirely for food not tin...
