REVIEWS OF Bar SixtyFive at Rainbow Room IN New York

Geoff Morrison

This would be a one star review it weren’t for the outstanding views. We were very much looking forward to our visit and had high expectations. Sadly, our waiter could not have made us feel less welcome and at one point even rolled his eyes. We have our own tourism business and can forgive almost anything apart from poor customer service. We didn’t hang around long, real shame as without the attitude this could be a really special place.

Vanessa Pugh

Was super disappointed with Bar SixtyFive! I was really looking forward to it too. Four of us went and had four different menu items and none of them were any good. The charcuterie board looked more like a science experiment. The drink menu was extremely limited which was a big disappointment. I understand it’s a social environment but it was exceedingly loud. Even for us sitting at and ironically small table. The view of the Empire State building is gorgeous though. We spent less than an hour there before leaving to find somewhere else to hang out until our Top of the Rock reservations. I would not waste my time or money here again. Wish it would have been different.

Aurora Vintilescu

Outstanding views - the only reason for the 3 stars and not one. The drinks were horrible - potentially Manhattan’s worst cocktails and suuuper expensive ($20 before tax and tip). Absolutely not worth it.

Dinyar Rabady

Awesome bar near the top of Rockefeller center. I preferred their old fashioned drinks vs. the contemporary ones, but your mileage may vary. The bar food varies from awesome to "just" good. When we visited the dress code didn't seem to be enforced strongly (there were people in jeans and pullover) however this might vary.

Franziska Reiss

I only went for a drink without food and would rate it as an average bar with amazing views. It's obvious why you need to go at least once if you are in NYC. The view from the Rockefeller is the best. The bar allows less crowd than on the rooftop. Apart from that the drinks are average. Do book in advance if you can otherwise you will need to show up around 15 to 20 min before opening time to be first in line at the queue. Most times without reservation means standing tables only though. It's not as classy as expected: imagine a weird mix of dressed up couples and tourists in sports gear. In my eyes a must due to the views but that's about it. There are a ton of better bars in NYC.

Conor MacCourtney

Cocktail lounge with top shelf drinks. Come for the view. Take several elevators to get up here but it's worth it. Check it out at least once.

Eszter Marossi

Great cocktails, not the best bar food. Little loud and lot of jeans and sneaker wearing tourists.

Flo Rent

Drinks are too expensive for what you get (and for this price my glass was dirty), 20$, but the view is beautiful. You can just cue without reservation if this is just for a drink.

Joel Azopardi

Fantastic views over the city from the terrace, love it up here. Best enjoyed before the terrace closes for the winter.

Bill Robertson

Great innovative drinks, friendly staff! Crowded, reservations suggested.

Andrew Isherwood

Over priced and under delivered. Great views but a poor selection of drinks. They use soda instead of tonic.

Jake Lavalley

Beautiful views with a lovely outside terrace. Yes the drinks are expensive, but when you compare them to what you would pay to go up to the Empire State Building's observation deck it is actually very reasonable!

Mike Rynart

This bar is located on the 65th floor of Rockefeller Center. Amazing view of NYC! Great drinks and service.

Kathryn Rogers

Yes the drinks are pricey but it is worth it as there is no cover charge be upstairs. Definitely make reservations as the place gets crowded. They have a coat check downstairs but keep your jacket if you want to go on the outdoor walkway.

Sean Smith

Great Food, Great Atmosphere, Incredible Views!!

For our wedding anniversary last year, I suggested to my wife to have drinks and light bites at Bar SixtyFive, and thanks to her, she made reservations herself, and coached me what to wear as well. On the day itself, getting to Rockefeller in time, getting in line in a jiffy, and being ushered to the elevator were all a breeze. We asked for a table and upon being seated ordered champagne, then their exquisite salmon platter next. Before the food was served, we went out to the open deck to enjoy the views of Midtown Manhattan with our champagne glasses, and took selfies and photos of each other, the majestic dusk skyline in the background. The food, it turned out, was excellent, all the more enriching our enjoyment of the champagne. It was time well used, money well spent, and an evening to remember for a long time. Until our next big date, that is.

Rochelle Wolf

Wonderful view, great drinks good service

Mitchell Thompson

Great views of the city. Drink prices a little steep but well worth it for the view.

Dan Chiu

Tips: 1) dress code strictly enforced (collared shirt and long pants) 2) drinks can be pricey 3) rooftop deck not open when it’s cold out so might only be indoor seating 4) drinks can be pricey 5) if no table available there is a bar area 6) tables align the side of the bar all window seats 7) some food and desserts are served

Elke Schols

Nice staff, great cocktails, and the view is absolutely amazing. You can see all the buildings, whole New York, stunning! Best view so far, would definitely recommend

Walter Somers

Fabulous view. Great service. Cocktails full of imagination. Superb food. Very nice ambiance.

Matt King

Well-worth the price of admission. Better views than other tourist venues in the building/island and you can drink some really nice cocktails. A must-see during your adult vacation (children not allowed). The staff are really friendly and not stuffy.

Ray Martin

Great view of the New York City skyline. Best part... it's free to get in, you avoid the queues and you can take in the great view whilst enjoying a beverage!

David Revilla

From the receptionist in the lower lobby to the hostess to the waiters, they were all wonderful. They would all come by for small talk and answer all our questions. We we given the corner table that has the Empire State backdrop, best table. Its a must for us to come back in the summer

Mark Hooper

If you visit new york you must go and have a cocktail at the bar sixty five # rainbow rooms at the Rockefeller center , its quite expensive but dont be put off , worth every dime for the breathtaking views from the outside terrace on the 65th floor

Kathryne Oneal

This place rocks!!! Great little spot with a ton of character and it's walkable from just about anywhere near the financial district, union square and Soma. This place is made especially special and it's all thanks to one Alireza POURsafour! What a stud!! A classic twist on modern drinks, custom delicacies made with an artists flare while being given a circus-like performance. You've gotten come try his creations! What he'll leave you with is a satisfied palate and an infectious smile. This is a must stop for your after work cocktail hour, your first second or last stop for the night or your one stop shop for an unforgettable drink experience.

John-Paul Palace

If you are looking for the best view in NYC with a grown up crowd, look no further than 65! I go time and time again and never get bored of that view. The cocktails are not cheap but worth every penny. I have tried the food as well and not surprising that it was terrific!

Liana Sandin

Beautiful surroundings, great service with helpful, friendly staff, great food and cocktails. Do dress for a special evening, as you will enjoy it even more, and you will feel perfectly at home with the rest of the patrons.

Charlie Alaisa

we r twO person. can we enter without booking & is there any rules how much minimum we have tO pay??

Avraham Cohen

Nice place with great view

Adam Ornowski

This iconic building in New York in the Rockefeller plaza was recommended by a few people and was definitely worth the visit, definitely a classy place where dressing up a little wouldn’t hurt, but after a great dinner out we went for some late evening cocktails and a few scotches. The views of the New York skyline and the first class bar staff made the $300.00 worth of (lots of drinks) definitely worth it. The hangover I woke with today was worthwhile.

Matthew Caspi

Nothing can beat the views from this famous NYC space. A seasonal outdoor terrace makes summer time visits a whole different ballgame. Located in the world famous and beautiful art-deco 30 Rock building, this sky-high 21 and up lounge won't disappoint. Only downsides are long waits, a strict dress code (which can be enforced a little too strong), and the lounge doesn't open until later in the afternoon to early evening. For a more family friendly (child friendly) option with equally as great views, no dress code, better hours, and no need for a reservation (bar only), check out the equally as beautiful and more laxed Manhatta restaurant at 28 Liberty in lower Manhattan. For those that don't mind the Rainbow Room's strict regulations and long lines, you will not be disappointed.

Angel Marr

This was one of my favorite places we went during our whole trip and we were there for an hour and it didn’t involve food, that’s saying something. We went up for drinks and to step out into their glass walled balcony. It was beautiful and well worth the short 15 minute wait. The signature drinks ranged from $20-$25 and were fun and tasty.

Natalie Tucker

Went up at night to get drinks and see the view. No reservation needed for us. Drinks were expensive but that’s too be expected. Worth it for the view!

Victor Luis Åström

Amazing views. The prices are high compared to Spain, but quite the same as Sweden, so all depends from where are you come from to say it's expensive. However, the views are really cool and worth take a beer there. You don't need to book for a drink.

flavien AMA

Very good food, very good view, very good atmosphere!

Jane Chirinian

Spectacular view and very elegant setup. Great place to go on a date or for drinks. One of my favorite bars in Manhattan.

Ielyzaveta Grotovsky

Stunning views, very good quality of food and drinks, overall a great experience!

Selim Inal

We had a dinner here and ordered virgin mosquito cocktails as well. Actually, the salmon plate was not really tasty since we had plenty of salmon but only little cracker like slides to put on. Every street restaurant could offer a better quality even though the presentation on an étagère was the highlight.. Moreover, the cocktails were expensive but a real joke - I do not know why this fancy bar cannot offer better quality. So for the presentation the location - the view is okay - the Bar 65 deserved 3 stars. I would go there and better just take a water and the fries which were not bad (also considered in my score), enjoy the view, provided that you receive a good seat, and then disappear quickly. Or better just visit the top of the rock, and/or empire state building, and/or one world trade center for an amazing view. No comparison to the fantastic atmosphere at top sky bars in Southeast Asia, Bangkok, Hongkong, KL, etc. A great disappointment...

Andrew Isted

Feels like the most New York thing to do ever (whatever that means) amazing views on side of the manhatten skyline and the Empire State and central park the other. We booked a table at BarSixtyFive around 8 weeks prior and really enjoyed a couple of drinks and the meat sharing platter (its huge).

Satish Shikhare

Excellent rooftop bar with both indoor and outdoor seating. Unbelievable NYC views.

Olena Blynova

The view is gorgeous. The food is not so bad. The service is awful. While we were waiting for our order, two different waiters brought us food that we did not order. Twice! Then another waiter brought our food to the next table, where people said it was not for them. We called him and said that it's probably for us, and he said "I will find out" and left. In 5 min he came back and said "Yeah, you are right. It is for you". What??! I would put less stars for it, if not the view. The view has changed my impression. As many has written, this place is all about the view. The view is really breathtaking! Even if you are not lucky enough to have the best seats, you will still enjoy the city lights beneath and around you. Also, they have a special terrace for those who want to enjoy the best view and take pictures. It is not the place with tables, it is separated area, so everyone can go there with a glass of wine. Very nice! I would come back there, but next time I would not order anything, but cocktail.

Krystal Churchwell

Beautifully crafted cocktails with the best views of the city. They have a strict dress code, so dress appropriately.

Rotimi Opeke

Amazing place to come in the city to take in views, without the hubbub of the tourist population. It's at the 65th floor of the Rockefeller Center, and while they ask that you come in business casual and make a reservation early, it is completely worth it. Low foot traffic on the room inside, and while many people linger on the viewing "ring" outside the building, you can catch 90% of the views without even leaving your seat. Highly recommended.

Mrs. Lina Z. P. B.

View is positive&you must enjoy posing for your pictures&remembering the only good thing it has: a good view. Never as good as Empire State Building 102nd floor. However, pictures taken & view make you digest the high disappointment with anything else going on! - a) website pictures do not match the location AT ALL; b) intensive protocol about booking, arrival & dress code and at the end there were people with runners and making you feel ashamed of being there! c) chaotic location & messy service! d) “out of mind” Final bill for a miserable, disgusting & cold “lobster hot dog” with ONE pathetic glass of champagne not well conserved & horrible burning taste flambé desert!-Life!

Ian Walmsley

Excellent food and views, but sad that they allowed Google employees to stand blocking the walkway.

Ryan Janssen

Too snooty. Acted like an exclusive club at 6pm on a Tuesday. Get in to an empty (and unexciting) bar, and there's another invisible line for the patio. Amazing they can take a great view and turn it into such an underwhelming space.

Mike Morris

So the view are really good, although new tower construction works are partially obscuring the views north towards Central Park, one tower is still just at central core stage so this will get worse as the tower builds and fills out. We initially had drinks at the bar whilst waiting for our table, when advised our table was ready the maître d', looked at us as if she had no idea what was going on and after some initial confusion and awkwardness we were led to our table (on the corner and offering good views over New Jersey and northwards to the park etc.) The menu is pretty limited and overall the food was very average for what was on offer. The initial poor service unfortunately continued and overall was some of the worst I have come across anywhere. Ordering a couple of bottles of champagne, the lady who served us was unable to even decant it into the 7 glasses of our group before being distracted by something and never returning… Our bottles were put in communal service ice buckets out of reach at our table and not once did anyone refill glasses (3 times I had to stand up from the table to walk over to get bottles to refill glasses and there was no cloth to stop drips from the ice bucket water dripping everywhere). Table service was intermittent at best, anytime I looked over the staff were either chatting in an area beside the bar or at reception, service clearly wasn't a priority and instead they seemed to just be there to chat. Having done "top of the rock" on previous visits to NYC, the higher elevation provides equal (albeit busier) views as SixFive and due to the abysmal service, I would strongly advise going there as part of a city pass and spending your dollars more wisely at any number of establishments where they understand service. (Well, unless you really need that Insta photo of your hand holding a glass of alcohol overlooking the Empire state building which lets face it isn't exactly original now...)

Robert Berry

This place is very touristy. The view is amazing, the drinks are decent. The food I would say is mediocre, and there is bad pop music playing very loudly, making conversation difficult. Everything is expensive of course but you are paying for the view. I think if you're just coming up for a drink or two and the view, I would say 4*. But for a sit down meal 3*.

Adam Van Grover

Right in the center of it all - for better or worse. Making it to the bar, requires trekking through the labyrinthine maze of Rock Center, and under most scenarios sharing small spaces with a lot of tourists (Top of the Rock crisscrosses paths). The vibe once at the bar is better, with a more formalized dress code, luxe aesthetics, and great views of midtown. Making reservations helps to ensure service, otherwise you're at the bar, or trying to order small bites at standing tables. The food is good, serving high end interpretations of bar room classics, and the best part is service is pretty fast. The prices reflect the location and views - so it may be worth it to stop by once to feel like a tourist in your town, but repeated trips will hurt your wallet. Overall good experience, good selection of drinks, some interesting cocktails, edible food, and magnificent views - all for just a very pretty penny.

Michael McComb

Spectacular view. Limited dinner menu but good. Make reservations and sunset is great.

Samantha Dinis

Boyfriend had got us a reservation for our nyc getaway saw this place online I will say the best thing about this place is the view if your facing it that is. Had to wait for our table, ordered drinks at the bar mind 50$ later they were awful not worth the price. Bartender was stuffy and rude. Finally got our table only for the waitress to be even worse than the bartender. On top of that she barley came back to the table to check on us. Now for a place where your bill is gonna be few hundred dollars that’s extremely disappointing. Menu had no variety either. We literally could not leave this place fast enough. Grabbed our bill, left and will not be back.

Mario M

Rude staff for no reason. Will not be returning honestly

Matt Preece

Situated on the 65th floor of the Rockerfeller Center. Amazing views of New York and great cocktails. Had to have a Manhattan! Cocktails are all around $20 each. Booking is essential, you may get in the standing bar area but not a table unless you have booked.

Freddie Godfrey

While my wallet may not, i always love drinking here. Perfect service, good drinks and stellar view. Can't go wrong, but do try and go when the crowds aren't there...

teomiazoi

A mustgo bar when in New York! Special cocktails and meat platter! The waiter was very polite and helpful! The view is outstanding but you need to queue to go outside and you can go only for 15 minutes! ( night time ). Great place to take your wife or girlfriend!

Engin Iyidogan

You just need to be smart/business casual and a bit self confidence if you don't have any reservation. You can go there, take great pictures and drink something if you have money, otherwise it is fine as well.

Kathryn Broze

Beautiful view from the 65th floor - and the atmosphere/food/drinks were PHENOMENAL! It was cloudy when we were there, but cheaper and easier way to see the view (versus Top of the Rock).

Barbara Butler

I've been here 4 times in one month.... because it's just that good! The Hemingway rum drink is my favorite. It's just excellent! It is small and gets crowded on the weekends... that's just how good it is. Oh.. the service is excellent!

G Aquino

Their main selling point is the view and it did not disappoint, especially on the evening of our visit when the city was all lit up! The space has a bar in the center and dining tables by the windows. There are more drinks than food on offer. I am not sure if they have a dress code but we wore smart casual and didn't have problems getting in. The food was delicious, although the mains took a while to arrive. Our server was pleasant and helpful with suggestions. For this place's location, prices are actually fair - we paid $103 (inclusive of tip) for an appetizer, two mains, and drinks.

Graham Nix

Terrible. My wife wanted to go to the top but was wearing shorts. Not unclassy but nice linen shorts with heels and a nice shirt because it was summer and it's hot. The door man was very nice in saying that it was against the rules but ultimately it was the bar's rules, which is why I'm upset. Meanwhile, a woman wearing a fanny pack was able to go right up. My wife learned about this bar from a sign on the building which said "No sandals. No sneakers." It said nothing else about dress code. She looked up the bar on her phone. It said nothing obvious about it as well. So she put her heels on and went out. Very disappointed in the double standards of the dress code.

Eric Hyde

Views that can only be made in Manhatten...one of a kind. Must eat the cherries!

Antoine M

Really cool view but definitely overpriced, better to stay up at the bar

Kenny Cheng

A bit pricey but the cocktails are very good

Maria Daniel

Hosted a breakfast for clients here. The views are spectacular, the food is fantastic and the service is phenomenal.

Drew Ayling

A great detour. Get there right at opening and have a drink and enjoy the views. Just don't forget to wear a collared shirt if you're a guy. No real dress code otherwise.

Rachel Mallow

Nice view, but unless you're sitting down for dinner, you can't really get any pictures of it.. the waitresses guard the sit down sections for dinner so if you're there just for a drink you're stuck in the center of the room with no place to go.

Carinne B

ZERO STARS!! Beyond disappointing and quite upsetting evening thanks to Bar65. Took my brother out for his 30th birthday to celebrate and it was RUINED by our horrible and snooty waitress. She started the evening by standing 4’ away from our table, messing up our drink order (probably because she couldn't hear us). Telling me they do not have the tequila i wanted (when they did). Then she refused to ask the kitchen questions I had (i have food allergies so I need to ask specifics and restaurants are usually so accommodating). Then the order came out wrong. What’s worse is she messed up the bday boys order. He ordered a burger, medium rare with no tomatoes and no onions and she first brought him a steak! Then came back with a burger, medium well with tomatoes and onions. To make matters worse, she kept rolling her eyes at us. (I swear, we are the most easy going and pleasant people so I am not sure why she treated us this way.) She forgot my dressing and sides. When I asked for a vinaigrette- she brought me straight vinegar. She only spoke to my brother (it was him and 3 females) When it was time for the check, she handed it to him, I took it, and said it was his birthday. I put in my CC and handed it to her. She came back to the table and AGAIN handed my brother the receipt. I was so baffled. The only good thing I have to say, is we brought this all to the managers attention and she was so sweet and really tried to salvage the evening. She brought us dessert and a round of drinks and removed his burger from the bill. Bar 65 should seriously hire more people like the manager. There is NO ROOM for someone like our waitress in the service business. She really needs an attitude adjustment and probably therapy because there is no reason to treat people the way she treated us.

Tom Phillips

Romantic, historic slice of America at its best. Very romantic. Highly recommended

Denise Slifer

Rose night and all of the marketing made me excited to go to what I know would be a touristy venue. The millennialis at the desk are lovely but have little to no idea as to what they’re really there to do- the service with eye rolls and condescending attitude needs to disappear but then there is the view and Corey - who is doing his best to make it right - bring your patience but experience this for sure !

Abul Bashar

Booked a table well in advance and noticed that a particular 'smart' dress code was required. Some staff are unattended but their food and drinks are superb!

Ellie sanders

Honestly the best thing that we did in NYC was go up here in time to see the sunset (worth checking that before you go up). It can get busy and it is worth getting a ticket to go outside as soon as you get up before you get a drink at the bar but honestly the view is spectacular

Frank Pate

I have mixed feelings on this place. It has the cool prohibition vibe, but at the end of the night I feel like I got played. It is basically the basement of the Havana 1920. They make you line up and wait to make it seem more interesting and because it is super tiny inside. The cover was super high. On a Saturday they did have a live band, which is what made it fun. The drinks were solid well-made cocktails. The ages varied widely from 21 to what looked like 61. Luckily we found a sit to sit and chill and listen to the band, but if I had to stand there I wouldn't have stayed long. People don't really dance there and its too loud to chat, so as long as the band is good then it is a nice place, but it definitely would depend who is playing that night.

Chris Albanese

You're paying for the views here. It's posh. It's expensive. But the views are absolutely spectacular. There's a really spacious middle area in the room to enjoy a drink and there are a few spots where you can get right near the windows for a good view. Although it was cold out and I couldn't go outside I would imagine the outside balconies offer amazing views too.

Jeremy O'Daniel

Best views in the city! Dessert was wonderful in presentation and taste. Drinks are made to perfection. Staff members at all levels were extremely courteous and went out of their way to be helpful.

Zohaib Ghatala

Love this place for the excellent views :)

Ky Gems

Great view, no reservations necessary. Business casual preferred. An excellent date spot.

Laurence Hirsch

Perfect intimate size venue with a perfect vantage point no matter where you stand. Acoustics are great and there is a bar area attached where sometimes you can take drinks from and in to the venue. I love that the stage is elevated.

Lauren Crivier

This was an amazing place to get a cocktail and have an amazing view of the city. Make sure your MAN has a collard shirt on.

Olivier Manhattan

Great view, friendly staff. Food is good but not spectacular.

Elle Ernshtayn

Pricey but you won't regret it! The view is amazing! One of the best views and cost cheaper than Empite State Building. The appetizers are one of a kind! Love the atmosphere! My new favorite spot! The food, the drinks, the staff are great! Must make a reservation!

Zachary Snyder

Great views, solid service. Prices were similar to the rest of Manhattan.

Yerko Rodriguez

Been there couple times. The view is just amazing. Love this place

Irene Rummel

good place to go to hang out and enjoy the nyc night view with friendly service. but be prepared to pay double to triple the normal price for a drink or snack...

Mete Araz

Fantastic place to spend a night with your wife or friends, amazing NY view (actually one of the best) great cocktail varieties, reservation is must

Xo Xo

Great view, great cocktails! Dress code to be considered.

George Wallace

What a place, never ate there sadly but had a couple drinks and admired the amazing views

Brecht Thijs

Amazing view. Good place to have a cocktail. Good is ok, but to be honest that is not why you're here...

Marwa Majdi

Amazing place with a breathtaking view.

Mark Edwards

Hard to really enjoy the view. Drinks are expensive, but expected that one.

Miles Holling

Came to try this place out one night and loved it! Beautiful views of the city with a upscale vibe!

jerry badawi

one of the best resto-bars in manhattan

David Berg

We went during our stay in New York when the weather was awful. And the security did warn us that there was minimal visibility. We were told that we didn’t need to book, and you don’t if you stand in the centre. But we’d recommend booking to get a table. The drinks are expensive and you have to order at least one each, fair enough as you get the spectacular view (only glimpses in our case!). The service was slow, but ok. Shame about the weather, that’s not their fault!

Craig Herrick

Can’t beat the view. A bit on the pricy side... but the view.

Annie Doman

Love this place. My 2nd time coming here and the staff is always so friendly. Great vibe, nice atmosphere, good food & drinks. Happy Hour is on point - no New York of quality eats. The bartenders make sure you feel at home. Definitely a new go-to spot.

Vitaliy Borisok

Nice view from the bar. Service is good.

Ruby X

Lovely bar & restaurant overlooking empire state building

Steve Tukavkin

Nice cocktails and great views...will be back to checkout the food!

samueal nigussie

The 777 club is A lot better than this place

Logan Peralta

A little pricy but worth it for a gorgeous sunset skyline view from the terrace. The food and drinks were delicious.

bethany olson

Ate here last week for my husband and my anniversary. We had reservations and got a table overlooking The Empire State Building. This would have been great had their not been people standing on the observation deck the whole time making it hard to see anything but their backs. We did get to go out on the deck twice and see the city during sunset and again all lit up at night. The drinks were fine, but expensive. We ordered pigs in a blanket (good starter), pulled pork sliders (again good but nothing special), and my husband ordered the cod (he said it had an overwhelming smokey taste to it). Overall we are glad we did it, but probably won't go back. On the plus side, we joked to subtract about $60 from the total because that's how much we would have paid just to get to the observation deck at The Top of the Rock without ordering any food.

andy robbins

Great place but you need to go on a clear day........

Russell Carswell

Confused by the positive reviews as we found this place to be gaudy, shabby, and not remotely smart or classy. Have been to much nicer, much cheaper rooftop bars in the past and wouldn’t recommend this one to anyone.

lorez Agee

I had such a wonderful experience. Enjoyed the food and the drinks.

Osama A

Phenomenal views, great music, with delicious food... what more could one want for a night out

Kris Harm

Very expensive food and drink. Nice view. Inconsistent dress regulation. Refused entry as I was not wearing a collared shirt. Entered the following night to find numerous people without collared shirts. Addressed management about this and was ignored. Frustrating experience overall. Far better views from other buildings.

Kathryn Thiele

One of my favorite spots in the city to bring out of town guests. Views are incredible.

Yun Li

Not crowded at all. Love it even tho it’s more popular among tourists.

Anthony Padronaggio

Come here instead of Top of the Rock.

Julien Rs

Amazing landscape especially at the sun set ! Cocktail are good but a bit high price, we can say that you buy the view at each drink. Reservation is required if you would like to sit at table otherwise you can just stand up around tables and take pictures. Formal dress required and cloakroom mandatory !

Alex Dickman

Overpriced menu, the dishes are really not good, nor is the beverage menu. The service is terrible, perhaps it was because we came only for a drink and not for a 3 course dinner, perhaps we didn’t look fancy enough but we got really bad service, the waiters barely looked at us and it took several attempts to get any kind of service. Including for example, a spoon for the desert we ordered. When its raining the balcony is closed so we couldn’t enjoy the view.

Annie Steinert

I enjoyed the beautiful view and my food and drink were great but the service was not. I felt that because I was dining alone they ignored me. It took me 25 minutes to get my waiter to take my order. In that time I finished my cocktail (ordered from the bar) and had even had it cleared so I sat with just water. Even when I did get his attention he was looking around at other guests while taking my order. Once my appetizer came he again disappeared and I never ordered my main course. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because the view was incredible and I saw others getting exceptional service from other members of the staff.

Caron Gordon

We made reservations well in advance because we were under the impression that you had to have a reservation to get in and had to be properly dressed. While adamant about those two items they failed to communicate that Bar 65 and the Rainbow Room restaurant are not the same entity and that Bar 65 requires you to be 21. Properly dressed for a celebration dinner we were very rudely turned away at the door and lied to about NY laws regarding minors. As we waited they let every single person who came to the podium in, no matter how inappropriate their dress. Based on the reviews of the food and service, I'm rather glad we missed both, but it certainly explains their availability.

The food is good, the drinks are great, the staff is friendly, the elevator ride is exhilarating, and the view from the top is unbelievable!

Josh Oliver

One of the best kept secrets in New York, my wife and I found this place by just exploring the area and they had recently opened. The staff was extremely polite and professional. The views are stunning and I would recommend coming during sunset or after 10 p.m.

Jon Emanuel

Cool bar, fantastic views of NYC skyline, a good Choice of Cocktails and others drinks, reservation needed

Sanket Gupta

Its a great place for an occasion. The views are breathtaking, indoor seating cosy and chic, and the music perfect. Really enjoyed our time there! Wish there were more veggie options for food though, but cocktails were great!

anat baitman

Too expensive. The cocktails are filled in 3/4 of the glass that is strange because you pay a lot for a whole glass... the food comes after long time of waiting. They didnt give us enough plates and forks for 4 people. There were some mitakes in the kitchen so we didnt get our dish completely and the kitchen closed.

LL F

Beautiful sunset view, just check in your jackets, take the elevator, pay for a drink and enjoy the view!!!

Alexandre Dufresne

It’s mainly a tourist trap. The view is allright, when you can get close to a window, but the place is cheap and you have to make a reservation in advance if you want to be able to have a seat. We stayed 15 minutes...

Tim Darby

Great views, go here instead of top of the rock! Nice cocktails, $20 each, so cheaper than top of the rock at 38$ plus u get a good drink that is actually full strength unlike the many 12$ cocktails around town. Make sure you follow the dress code (business casual or simalar) and perhaps pick a quiter night too, reserve a table if you can!

Nishant Srivastava

bar 65 one of the best bar in new York with full view of city and central park need prior appointment for tables on 65th floor of Rockefeller centre you can enjoy drinks which are little price but worth enjoying must visit place enjoy drinks !!

Marcos Villalba

Possibly best views of midtown in Manhattan. Go for a drink and enjoy views

This companies customer service has been god awful. I have been trying to get in touch with someone from here for over a month. I have left multiple messages as well as inquired on their site and have yet to have have anyone contact me back. I can assure you that I would not recommend this establishment if you are planning something special or an event.

D S

I loved the service here. I am from DC and am used to being overcharged for tourist frequented places, but do not fear- the tourist vibe was no where to be found here and I did not feel overcharged. I was here during NYFW, so maybe the gorgeous people add towards my nostalgia right now but between the views, the employees, the drinks, and the patrons this place would be my quick drink spot if I lived here. The service was impeccable. You can get to the escalators up to the elevator from which ever side of the building you enter, they have security guards (I think that's what they are anyway) that are more than willing to help with directions to the escalator. At the top of the escalator you're greeted by a coat check, security guard (official one this time) and hostess. At this point I had to give up my Evian water bottle. I proceeded up the long but relatively quick elevator ride and I was greeted by even more hosts. But man, they must hire only pretty people. The host and hostesses were very accommodating. A private party was going on that took up some prime real estate at SixtyFive for dinner views so I opted for the crowded bar on a Thursday night at 6 PM. They do not just point you to the bar, they escort you there and helped me get a menu! However in hindsight, this bar is VERY crowded at 8 when I left. So at 6 PM at least I could get face time with a bartender, at 8 you're fighting through a sea of people. After two Vodka cocktails and $50 later I was tired of standing, so I asked for a table. The host informed/warned me that another drink would be required at the table or food. I appreciated the heads up although it was unnecessary for me as the starters here looked amazing! I walked outside for the breathtaking view while waiting for my glass of wine. Wow! Stunning at sunset. I wish they utilized the space facing Central Park better!! The best views facing Midtown from outside were obstructed by the servers bustling in and out around a side door. They constantly were asking people to clear a path or move... there's got to be a way to accommodate people that want the view and keep your kitchen entry clear... Red rope or something? My seat inside was perfect, facing downtown towards the river. The menu is limited but they cover all the best foods in a few short choices!! Attire: Thursday @ 6 PM in the late summer most people were in work attire. Not many dresses or full suits though. No one was in jeans, but I'm not sure if that's because of a rule. I highly recommend you stop by for a drink, appetizer, dinner, or view.

Made a reservation for 5 persons via email a month before my visit. My emails were responded to very quickly and reservation was seamless! The ambience was a classy and upscale one in the heart of the city. We celebrated a birthday and wanted it to be special, which it was! The chicken meal was delicious. Drinks were strong so did not need to order much! Overall it was a wonderful experience with priceless views of the city and a very accommodating and friendly staff! In my opinion it was well worth the money :)

Senad Music

Usually a long wait (30 or more mins) around the optimal time an hour before sunset as it allows you to see stunning views in 2 ways. Most cocktails at $20 are good value considering the venue.

Great views, great menu & drinks!!!

Henry Grant Kerswell

Iconic view. Nice cocktail. Not cheap but worth it for one.

William Duff

Better than the rainbow room

James Yapp

Perfect location and views. Definitely better than doing 'Top of the Rock' as no queues. Drinks expensive but what would you expect?? Did a cocktail for me that wasn't on the menu and nailed it.

Visited August 20, 2017. Bliss. At last we find a cocktail bar in New York without cretinous, loud piped music. Excellent, varied cocktail choices served by knowledgeable mixologist. Stayed until closing. Visiting from UK.

There is nothing more exciting than exploring the new, today I went to this Bar and enjoyed a spectacular spectacular view, a few drinks that surprised us the Bartender, about the Old Fashion, The Martinis, ufff what madness, my friends and I We were super surprised with the attention of all the staff.

Holly Burgess

Insane views and lovely cocktails. Also really enjoyed the ham tasting!

H Westland

Great job on so many levels! 1) Needed to bump our reservation due to a private party - kindly offered a Friday night reservation, hard to get!! 2) Felt so VIP to skip the line, be greeted by kind & beautiful human who showed us to the private elevator - fastest 65 story ride ever. 3) Amazing views 4) Awesome friendly professional server 5) they seated Jimmy Fallon 6 inches from my elbow - nice to hear his conversation as normal

Joel Morland

Amazing views of NYC, would definitely recommend getting a table and sitting outside

Sierra

To say this place was a disappointment would be an understatement...and although I never have given a place 1 star, this time it was earned. Let me start with saying the views are incredible and unbeatable here. It's unlike no other and is worth coming to see. I also know that even the best places have off nights and it happens. The evening started really well at first. The cheese plate is very good and the drinks are well made. But as the place got busier the quality and service went downhill fast! Through the night we saw our waitress less and less. The risotto tasted like a box of salt got dropped in it on the way out here. It was horrible. Which was such a bummer because I LOVE risotto. The waitress quickly just asked what I wanted instead and nothing else. After eating so much salt in a few bites it was hard to want to eat anything else. The chicken was VERY good though and I highly recommend it. After that we didn't see our waitress for about 45 minutes. The host came and we asked for another drink. It was a special occasion and we wanted to order desert but by then we hadn't seen our waitress for so long we thought forget it.... 35 minutes of waiting for the check we just walked up and stood at the bar for our check...let me say we sat down at 5pm and didn't leave until 8:20... The waitress then said she was going to bring us desert but...we will never know...last, best part the elevators didn't work. It stopped at the 45th floor and went no further....when you're at the 65th floor this is not a good feeling. None the less we made it to the bottom after going to a different elevator. A few takeaways, if you're celebrating something special just stop for a drink and move on to a more intimate place. The tables with a good view are on top of each other. It's New York, there are much better suited places to celebrate. Also it doesn't matter which evening you go, it will be busy and the service will be slow. I'm sure it isn't always like this but this was my experience.

Jordana Schacht-Levine

Hidden gem among hundreds of tourist traps. A great place to go for a fancy drink and great view. Hard to get a seat if the reservations are full, so either make a reservation or be ready to stand and take in the views from both inside and an outside deck. Spectacular views north (Central Park), south (world trade and empire state building), and west to New Jersey. Enjoy!

Aasmund Midttun Godal

Incredibly rude waiter, but great view

Monica

Heard several recommendations to come here instead of going to top of the Rock. I'm sure the view at top of the Rock would be better, but for us this was great! There's a line that gets formed starting around 4:15 if you want to get in right when it opens at 5. However, the line does move pretty decently once it gets open. The place can get pretty crowded for standing room only so would recommend calling ahead to get a table. Can't comment on the food as we didn't eat there, but the drinks were pretty tasty and the view, although obscured by the tables lining the perimeter of the bar, was nice. Pictures can only be taken in certain spots and on busy evenings expect there to be lots of people waiting to take a pic of the empire state building.

pierre ejarque

great view of the manhattan skyline. Cocktails are pricey, but well worth it

John Green

Been to this place a couple of times whilst living in New York. If you're interested in seeing the top of the Rock then what's a better way to do it than with an old fashioned in your hand. Prices are a bit expensive but it's got great 270 degree views of New York. Be sure to check before you go as they sometimes have functions.

cs m

excellent views. needs reservations

David Rev Ciancio

ASK FOR JANE! There are a lot of reasons to come here. The view is stunning, the cocktails are great and the food is outstanding. But this you already know and could probably read about that on this review site or any other. If you want to enhance your experience, ask for your server to be Jane. I have eaten at thousands and thousands of restaurants around the world and really have I seen a server with this much and care, kindness and humor. in fact, she would be driving decision why I would want to eat again because we had that much fun sitting in her section.

Sid & Nidhi Bansal

Best view in town.

Nick E

The most spectacular view of Manhattan, you will feel a bit like cattle when you try to go outside to take photos, but this is understandable with the place's popularity. The drinks aren't really that expensive when you consider the prices of drinks elsewhere, which also don't have that view. Additionally, consider the price of your drink as the price to see the view, I can assure you the price to go a floor higher without a drink is more... The dress code seemed mixed, but I would recommend dressing up to avoid disappointment (make an occasion of it - it really is fantastic especially at sunset).

Po Neera

As a native New Yorker, I would recommend coming here for the view and feel of being in an old NY staple sight. Much better than going to the top and waiting in a long line. They take reservations here on opentable so definitely make one if you plan to visit! Crowd: mix of tourists & locals Food: just okay. Price: pricey for the quality Wine: lots of mediocre domestic wines Verdict: come for sunset for drinks and appetizers. Dinner would probably taste better elsewhere. Overall a good experience for its ambience, views and service.

Bhumi Dave

It's a good place to have early dinner or late lunch while seeking NYC skyline

Mairi H

We travelled from Scotland to New York and this was the first bar we went to on our arrival...what an incredible starting point! The staff from being greeted at the door to leaving at the end were so attentive and welcoming. We had informed the bar prior to arriving that it was our wedding anniversary and they seated us at a table at the window with the most incredible view and also brought some complimentary macarons to the table. The waiter was so friendly, cocktails great and overall it was a really lovely experience! Would highly recommend to anyone visiting.

Mark Sumbilla

Good drinks

Shayna Abramson

Really an amazing view, and the watermelon basil cocktail was delicious! Staring at the view for hours was so satisfying. And on a beautiful night too! Highly recommended

Steve Self

Stood in the queue here (2/10/17) for 30 minutes I was then approached by a female member of staff who effectively ejected me for having a smart (new)pair of shorts on just because they had pockets on the side. In my opinion I looked as smart as those with jeans on. Whilst I am respective of dress codes wherever I go, I feel that bar 65 need to be very clear on exactly what you can and can't wear on these premises. To stand patiently in a queue and actually see a separate member of staff looking at what people were wearing and then 30 minutes later be told to leave was a total insult and I guess indicative of how they view their customers. In short a very disappointing and insulting end which has overshadowed a great few days in New York where I was always felt most welcome everywhere else I went. Now glad to be leaving tomorrow.

Philip Anderson

There are several rooftop bars in NYC but this one tops them all, pun intended. The view is spectacular. Extensive drink menu and delectable desserts, we'll certainly be heading back here any time we are in NYC.

Eric Boisen

We decided to go to Bar SixtyFive on a whim, and we are glad we did. Though the drinks are pricey, you get an amazing view of the city for a cheaper price than buying a ticket to the Empire State Building or One World Trade Center. The view was magnificent in the evening and I am so glad we decided to stop.

Rémy Grignon

Undoubtedly one of the greatest view of Manhattan. Kind of tricky to find the entrance once you're inside the building so don't hesitate to ask your way. Drinks and food are definitely pricey but the view definitely makes up for the price.

Google User

Good view but super expensive food that wasn't worth the price (our $65 burger was extremely salty and didn't really go well together). But if you aren't worried about money it is a good place to go.

Collin Myers

One of my favorite views of the city. I would highly recommend a visit here on a clear night. Drink prices aren't bad, and they have the best virgin cocktails I've found in the city.

Ian K. Stephenson

A lovely way to spend an evening with one of the best views over Manhattan. Recommend you reserve a table
