This Restaurant belongs to the category of French restaurant.
Party of 3, about an hour wait... not bad for NYC. Food was great except the Eggs Benedict. I was so excited about the dish until it arrived. It was bland and just disappointing. I was expecting something great... it was not.
They are great, 5 stars are not enough for them i am really impressed
A very happening place with the millennial. Food was good my favorite restaurant. Excellent server.
WoW what a restaurant. The place was really osm and the food was super delicious . The staff was very kind and dedicated towards their duty. The way they treat us when we go there was appreciable and the price was also good as per quality and the location was also amazing
I went with my family Easter weekend. It was packed to the gills and really bustling, even though the dining room is actually quite large. It's loud, louder than most restaurants, likely due to the sheer number of tables. We had a reservation though and were immediately seated by a very friendly hostess. The cocktails were my favorite part of the meal, meticulously crafted and really delicious. The food for me was just ok. Nothing blew my mind, certainly not for the price, but service and presentation was excellent. I had a really gross issue with my first course, one that no restaurant would want posted publicly so I won't, but I'll say that it was handled appropriately by both the server and management. While I certainly could have made it a bigger deal, I let it go and tried the rest of what came to the table. Everything was fine from that point on. I would go back, but probably just for cocktails and starters, and some of that incredible bread!
Me and my friend were visiting NYC . Stopped by for a lunch We ordered egg benedict and steak frites. I wanted to have my steak medium rare But it came out too cooked almost well-done. I don’t usually complain about like this as a person who used to work in the kitchen. But i did this time and server took the dishes right away back and brought new steak for me And manager( at least manager looking) came to our table and apologized saying that i was totally right about steak. And compensate us free chocolate dessert. They know how to cook, how to do business It could’ve been not pleasant experience if I didn’t ask the server if the steak had been cooked as i wanted. What a wonderful experience eventually!
Escargots and the chicken liver mousse that came out as our appetizers were fabulous and the portion for the price was decent. Steak and fries were good as mentioned in the michelin guide, but it seemed a little overpriced ($40 for about 12oz NY Strip steak). Nonetheless, the service was top-notch (I accidentally spilled wine on the table cloth and our server changed it to new one right away), and I would definitely recommend this place for lunch/brunch.
Cosy atmosphere. Good service. Great food. I really recommend a trip to this restaurant!
Very nice food. Excellent service nice attention
Incredible French bistro. Brunch, lunch or dinner. Reservations are highly suggested. Check the menu on line. It is all excellent. And a trendy place to be!
Like it’s London sister restaurant, Balthazar does not disappoint. Beautiful brunch, vibrant atmosphere and attentive service. Bravo
So good place, excellent services and food was very very tasty. fries were crispy and fried well and serving services were fast and efficient.
We went to eat lunch at Balthazar. We were quickly seated even if the restaurant was packed – I really appreciated the service. The atmosphere was wonderful; French inspired, buzzing and busy. Felt like we were in Paris. The food came quickly and it tasted great. A big selection of good wines. The service was impeccable. Highly recommended!
It was an amazing experience with the constant waiter interaction. The complimentary champagne was perfect. It was like a symphony playing music. I can't wait to plan my next dinner.
I think this restaurant is overrated. Food is good but service is not exactly topnotch. They charge for refills of soda. Very disappointing.
Fine dining- you will not be disappointed
I stop in every time I'm in the city. The service and staff are exceptional. Stop by the bar and grab a drink from Cisco.
Súper fan! Excellent food, vibe, French cuisine, my favorite! (London also)
Greeted kindly and well assisted however the food “chicken salad” was not what I expected the burrata salad was ok. Small size dishes paper table cover, expensive for what it offers.
Great ambiance and food was delicious. Service was great too.
Classic french brasserie food. Good service and cocktails.
Restaurant was beautifully designed and the food was awesome and of good quality. I had an great experience here. All things in the restaurant were well maintained and staff was very helpful and decent. place was clean and food was properly cooked. overall great place for food lover.
This place is superb. As soon as you see the red awning a feeling sets in of rich history and deep meaning. You can't quite put your finger on it, but this restaurant is something special. The energy it possesses is buzzing with exquisite taste.
I truly do not remember going here. I wasn't kidnapped, I am sure of that. I think I was part of a government experiment to make me forget visiting establishments that start with the letter 'B'. Very inviting location. Suggest taking photos during your visit to remind yourself in case you were in the experiment group also.
The service of our gracious hosts made up for any other possible deficiencies. We were a difficult party to seat and host, but the service and welcome were fantastic. Everyone found much to praise about the meal.
Somehow I had never eaten here, and finally went when a friend was in from out of town. Love the bustling, European vibe. The food was all excellent.
Love this place! Love the casual vibe with french bistro food. The frisée salad, mussels, and apple tartan (the best!) make an excellent meal. So good! Have been many times and keep going back. Definitely recommend.
Great food a little pricey
Very nice bistro in NYC, try it and enjoy its bar steak!
Food was amazing and service was great. The steak was so good!!!!
...absolutely superb atmosphere, food, wine and beer in a super location, can't wait to go back...
We arrived a bit before the 12:00 sharp lunch seating so we shopped SOHO until noon. I didn't order anything fancy, but what I had was so good that I'm writing this review. After a few bites, I called over our waiter to talk to him. I'm sure he was thinking, "oh great what's wrong now?" I said, "I ordered the chicken club sandwich. Look at the bread, slightly toasted and lightly crusted-perfect! The chicken-thinly sliced, grilled and moist-perfect!. The tomato is fresh and perfectly ripe! Lettuce crisp. Avocado and cheese perfectly proportioned." I picked up a pomme frite(french fry where I live) and broke it in half-"slightly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside--perfect! Compliments to you and the chef!!" I'd give this place 10 stars if that were an option!!
Every time I’m in nyc I have to eat here! The best French food & atmosphere, don’t forget to visit their bakery on the way out!
It is one my favorite restaurant in Manhattan. American style French Cuisine. Delicious meals, great wine selection. It is a traditional place always crowded but always good service. Little over than mediocre prices but definitely worth it. I recommend to reserve a table, otherwise you may have to wait an hour or so.
Very good food. I had the eggs Benedict and my wife the waffle with berries. Both were perfect. The place is classic, elegant and extremely beautiful. The negative point is that it is a bit pricey, even for NYC level.
We ordered the mushroom risotto, duck confit and escargot. The duck confit is delicious. The escargot is lacking a bit of flavour. Mushroom risotto is okay. Service is good. Tables are quite close to each other though. It seems to be more specious if you sit at the area with reservation.
I absolutely love their little cafe on the side. They have such good croissant. Just like they should be.
We visited for brunch on Saturday around 11:30am without a reservation. Only had to wait half an hour for a seat. Balthazar basically screams v "fancy" at you. From the decor, to the staff, to the customers, everything is opulent. Yet somehow it's also very comfortable, and doesn't feel ostentatious. My partner and I shared the caramelized banana tartine to start, and it was to die for. Totally divine. We then both got the corned beef hash, him with scrambled eggs, and me with over easy eggs. Hash is my go to brunch meal, so when I say that this was the best hash I've ever eaten, that's really saying something! Perfectly caramelized onions, generous and flavourful corned beef, perfect eggs and generous portions. The only thing stopping this from being 5 stars is the price, which matched the ambiance as slightly too "fancy". But this was a real treat, and if you don't mind spending the money, well worth visiting!
Great fun, even though a touristy kind of place. Food was very good, did not disappoint. We stuck with the classics, I had Steak Frites and my wife had Beef Bourgogne. It was fresh, flavorful and a nice serving size. We ate at the bar, had great cocktails while we waited for our food. Restaurant has a buzzy din to it, that makes it feel like an occasion. Service was friendly and attentive. Super busy, definitely make a reservation. A little pricey, but worth it.
Balthazar is a very nice restaurant, there is a long wait but it is worth it. We were seated by a window and it was very pleasant. I ordered a beef stroganoff and the beef was probably the best beef I had tasted in a while. The staff was very kind and added to the good experience. The vibe of the place was great, along with the food. I recommend the hamburger and the fries are also very good!! The tall ceiling made it very nice to enjoy the experience. The only slight reason I am giving it a 4 is that it was pretty noisy and not AMAZING, but it is still a great place to dine. Would recommend!!!
Balthazar is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. The atmosphere is truly resembling of a Paris bistro, lively and with loud conversation played against amazing food. My favorite here is the Steak au Poivre and finish with profiteroles or creme brûlée. Service is efficient and friendly and the wine selection is very accommodating.
Great service, amazing wine and a very nice atmosphere.
I love this place, who doesn’t. I come here every time I want something special and delicious. Solo dining is great. Raw bar, great steak, breakfast is fantastic. Can never go wrong here.
I’m a big fan of the food and wine selection. I enjoy discovering new bottles of old world wines along with well prepared bistro favorites. The fries are some of the best around!
Honestly the food is quite mediocre. I went there to try their burger following many recommendation. Sadly it came out very bland, as if they barely care to add any salt to it. The only thing good about that dish is the fries and the whipped butter that came with it.The es cargot is ok. Service is good, vibe is crowded with tourist. Overall very overrated
Steak tartar was really good. Steak frites not so much. Asked for it rare and got it medium. The quality of the meat is not the best... it was pretty chewy. I let the waiter know, he was very kind, did not charge me for it and offered me something else instead.
The food is delicious and will recommend to everyone
Amazing food and very prompt service despite being extremely busy. Lovely staff and the waffles are a 12/10. Be prepared to put your name down and wait but there are great shops nearby to keep you occupied. Well worth the wait.
Great for brunch! Lively atmosphere, nice ambiance. Service was a little slow, but given how busy they were I completely understand. Honestly didn't mind the wait though, it was a hot day so it was nice to be inside for a bit! I highly recommend their oysters.
Depending on where you’re seated can alter your perception of how great this place is. Two people enjoying drinks and snacks at the bar is different than the small two tops they have with very little space between. But I guess that the difference in getting a few extra tables so people don’t have to wait too long. Great for groups and especially breakfast
I had the burger. Taste was amazing but it didn't hold together very well. Doesn't change the fact that service and food was fantastic. Sauteed mushrooms and asparagus are amazing sides!
loved the old decor and setting. came for brunch food was good
The food here is so good you'll want to eat here every day. Nothing bad can be said about Balthazar. My parents brought me here as a kid and now I bring my son here, it's worth making it a family tradition.
The disappointment... Over priced, over appreciated. Too crowded and noisy. Mediocre food. Supppper expensive. Tables so tiny there's not enough place for the food and bavrages we ordered. Three different waitresses banged the table three times against my knees trying to a set it right. You can't go out from the table to the restrooms without bothering your companion and.l the table next to you. Then foia grass wasn't very good. My steak was over cooked. The waitress took my wine glass without asking while it was far from empty. The wine selection was good and decently priced.
A wonderful restaurant with the feeling of a French Bistro. All of the food is always amazing, as is the service. Fun atmosphere, lively and crowded. [And, if you are the type to love famous people, I've never eaten there without seeing a celebrity, and, in true New York fashion, the other diners have always left then alone to enjoy their meal]
One stars for the host smile
Pretty good iconic restaurant in the middle of the Soho neighborhood. I found it to be a good restaurant. The mussels and the lobster pasta tasted really good and staff was friendly. However, we ordered cheese as dessert and the staff had no clue which cheeses were on the plate. For a restaurant in the price range of Balthazar I believe it's fair to expect a bit more. All in all a recommended place for a nice lunch or diner (although be aware that the place is crowded and noisy).
I absolutely love this place. Food is delicious and the atmosphere is festive. Service is super professional and attentive. Must try some pastry and Eggs Benedict/Norwegian/Florentine.
The quality of their food was amazing! The food was delicious and their service was quick. I've never had a bad experience so I recommend people visit this place.
Looked lovely and had a great feel. I just think we were seated in an area of the restaurant where we were overlooked, ignored and forgotten. Maybe next time we will have a better experience.
Came here from out of town with my husband and two boys. He got the omelette, one of my kids got the mac and cheese with bacon, the other one got the salmon, and I ordered the other fish option. It was a white fish served with olives. Almost al our food was amazing; my husband thought his omelette was average. Regardless, it was a classic New York experience and we appreciated being able to walk in off the street at 2 p.m. and get a table for lunch. We had a great time and it lived up to the hype.
Wonderful French restaurant with an exceptional staff. They've been in business for a number of years because they do such an excellent job. Prices are a bit high on some items but that wouldn't stop me from returning. I highly recommend the beef tartare.
Great food and service as always! Just go there! Make sure you have reservations if you don't want to wait to he seated. The space is beautiful and the service is wonderful. It's wonderful ...great prices, and friendly and quick service!!!!
I eat here a lot since I work right next to it. I must say their service is always awesome and they keep the spot clean regularly. Rates are reasonable and they serve sizeable portions.
Had a reservation for 8 and was seated promptly. The waitress gave us water quickly without asking and then the other staffed came by frequently to fill the glasses with no questions. Had the Eggs Benedict, highly suggest, could taste every flavor and care they placed in making it. Ordered food and received it in less than 10 minutes. Also recieved a postcard for free with the check.
Great, really great. The food was amazing, the service was fabulous, and the mixed drinks were so-so. Everything else, excellent. Enjoy.
Loved the place! We had no reservations but we got a table within 15min. It was a weekend and we had out teen kids with us, we all loved the place and food was delicious. It's a NYC staple it's a must place to visit!!!!
Absolutely a spot worth trying, the food is great and fresh, the cost is reasonable and it is always neat in here. 5 stars.
I’ve walked by this place many times and never bothered to stop by until recently. The interior design is absolutely gorgeous! It’s a traditional Brasserie with large ceiling! They have a large variety for brunch including the delicious pastries from their bakery right next door!!
If you want to try authentic French food! And you want to experience high-end French restaurant in NYC! You have to check Balthazar! They food is so authentic and delicious! The staff is friendly and always fast, however they prepare the orders very slow, but thats understanble the whole restaurant is always packed! Reservation is a must in this restaurant! Overall recommend this place!
If I could give Balthazar 100 stars I would. This is the best restaurant in the NYC. I’ve been here several times and every single time it’s such a pleasure. Also there is no average food here, every single thing is outstanding. I consider Balthazar burger and French fries the best I’ve ever had it. Just be prepared for a crowd restaurant but very very friendly staff.
Not a good place for people with food allergies such as gluten or dairy. The restaurant is beautiful inside but make a reservation or else you won’t get seated.
This is really one of favorite local restaurants. The sandwiches are amazing and the people are super nice.
Delicious, atmosphere, price The restaurant is wonderful: old, dark wood, large mirrors, could be also in Paris. Food is absolute great. Glad I had a reservation as the line of people waiting for a table was looong. Had for breakfast eggs Benedict, eggs salmon, brioche and 1 coffee. Pricey!
Great place to enjoy American style French cuisine. Food and ambience are excellent.
Classic place to get an amazing breakfast. It’s a nyc institution that holds its chin up proud. Very nice.
Tried this place once with a friend and I am hooked since then. I liked the fantastic ambience and flavorful food and beverages. 5 stars.
A cozy place to dine French. Had a small family gathering. All dishes tasted fantastic. Just the mussels are small. You can/ should use bigger ones!! Personally the risotto was the best out of everything I tasted. It is said that the desserts are most try. I was too full to have one.
If you're looking for a classy mid-town venue for breakfast, brunch or lunch you'd go far wrong with Balthazar. Classy decor, great service and fabulous food in a chic French style setting, and yeah, okay, while the prices are not the cheapest, you're paying for superb food and style amongst the high flying New York clientele.
Trendy, iconic and absolutely magnificent. Everything about Balthazar stands out. Their meticulously designed menu, excellent service, and of course their consistently divine food make this one brunch spot to come back to whenever you have an opportunity. They do take reservations, but I generally did not have to wait long for a table for 2-4. When you settle for omelettes and sausage at other "brunch" spots you deny yourself a truly memorable experience. Fry your own cheap omelettes at home; come here for excellence. You cannot go wrong with anything from their savory entrees or bakery. Worth the price, compared to many other locations.
Amazing restaurant with great atmosphere and the design is so interesting. I went there a couple of times for brunch and I really enjoyed every thing. The price is great and the customer service is on point, the staff is in the mood every time I see them.
Great brasserie spot to have brunch serving a full day breakfast and lunch.
Has the pulse of Soho New York Loud with interiors reminding you of Parisienne brasseries Lively atmosphere with limited vegetarian selection but extremely well prepared
we were 9 people. those who has seen food or fish enjoyed very much. chicken breast was dry and difficult to swallow. good restorant
One of the best restaurants i have visited in the recent times.we were there for our anniversary and really liked the food. We had lamb chops and pan roasted salmon and the food was delicious. The only let down was the bread that was served initially and also the seating but no regrets with the food ( 5 out of 5 for food alone).
best Foie gras EVER. I always thought i wasnt a huge fan of it but i love it here lol
Great energy and food. Been one of my favorites for 15 years. Love dinner here but for some reason always been a go to brunch spot for me.
The service is always exceptional. I didn't love my menu choices this time. Would have loved the monkey bread or bread basket if it wasn't cold. The pecan roll was almost impossible to break through.
Really cool place to grab a beer and a bite to eat. The waiter was cool and the lone cook in the kitchen was also really nice. Cheese and saltiness are great.
A classic.. Plain and simple. Not all dishes hit the mark but still a great place.
One of the funniest places in nyc. It’s atmosphere is great and the food and service is even better
The ceviche was really really good. I would come back and get it again. My salmon entree was okay, I liked the brussel sprouts a lot. My husband enjoyed his steak entree. I think the fries could be better, they're shoestring and just alright. The service is really great. The server was very attentive.
A NYC institution... Tuesday lunch was perfect, no crowds and friendly service. Quintessential French brasserie dishes executed perfectly - where else can you get perfectly herbed and buttery escargot? NO WHERE ELSE. Enjoyed all of these dishes ... the pate, the bread, escargot, the fresh corn tortellini, the frisée salad with lardons... merci bien!
I LOVE EVERYTHING about this place! The atmosphere is so entertaining, the food is always delicious. It’s a 7 star place! Food comes really fast, went with my friend before and we order food and it came quicker than we thought and we were just drinking coffee. The waiter noticed we are not eating he came and offered to take the food back until we want to eat!! And exactly on the time we wanted we got our plates warm and delicious One of my favorite places.. they also have a French bakery that I highly recommend;)
Came for the fries. Did not disappoint. Had the steak au poivre. Pricy entree but you get what you pay for. Service was great, quality of the food was excellent. Definitely a 5 star establishment without a doubt. This is a place that takes care of you.
The food was good, not amazing not worth the price. The real problem was the staff. I was there with a big party, so we all ordered food and was sharing except the staff kept taking our plates making sharing incredibly difficult. On top of that we ordered drinks for the first thirty and they would not give us bread until we ordered food. There was so much hovering by the wait staff I felt we were being held hostage by them. I would not go here again too pricey for being watched and constantly interrupted.
If a high energy atmosphere, tight seating, and negotiating for a good seat with the host aren’t your cup of tea, don’t come here. That being said, this is as NYC as it gets. Not to mention, the onion soup is one of the best I have had. The rest of the food is good, a strong “good.” Prices are on the high side ($100 for lunch without alcohol) but again you are paying for the atmosphere. Service was excellent once you finally got seated.
It's good, not great. The place def needs a make over. The escargot were the best part of the meal. The drinks were strong and that's always a plus.
I saw this restaurant on Food Network's "The Best Thing I Ever Ate" and ordered what was on TV. The sour cream and hazelnut waffles were so good but a bit expensive—$21 dollars is a lot for waffles. Nice decor on the inside as well.
Cool place. Always busy. Always famous people in here. Nice food and drinks. Thibaut behind the bar is a nice guy. I enjoyed talking to him. Very French and very cool!
Great brunch spot. Egg Benedict with some steak fries and you leave a happy person.
Awesome French restaurant. Their menu is just great, lots of variety. Their onion soup is super tasty, so are the mussels with fries. Their wine menu is great, they have Chablis. They also have daily specials. Prices are high but worth the portions and taste. Venue is super nice, cozy, like an authentic French bistro. Reservations are encouraged. A must in New York City.
Amazing place! I loved this restaurant. Delicious meals, excellent wine collection. It is a favorite place always crowded but always excellent service. Cozy atmosphere. Good service. Great food. I recommend a tour of this restaurant!
Just wandering around the area and I found this gem! I was able to try their pastries and it taste great! I just hope there are more varieties in their selection. But everything is good! Even the place and the staffs were well managed
Great French restaurant. Loved the Escargot ... The food priced correctly but not the $13 local beer...
Loud, over-priced, and the service is truly awful. I don’t typically leave bad reviews, but this was very disappointing.
A very nice restaurant for a quick lunch at bar particularly. For a table, it is always safe to book it as this is a well known place with lovely food. At a bar, you do not need any reservation, walk to a bar counter, have a seat and enjoy a meal!
Lived up to its reputation! Omelet was perfectly made. French onion soup was just right. Beef Stroganoff made to perfection.
This is a perfect French bistro! Wonderful food and friendly service!
A NYC classic that continues to bring a bit of Paris brasserie magic across the Atlantic. Service is good but a bit reserved, keeping in tune with the dining style of a long, lazy lunch. Simple, delicious dishes are always satisfying and never too overthought.
Delicious food, exquisite service
Classic French restaurant. We started with the escargot. For main I got the short ribs which were so soft, delicious and rich. Duck was tasty and so was the chicken. My least favorite item was the steak. Must get dessert also! Make a reservation before because this is a busy spot. Tables are close together.
We (me and my family) went to this place with a high expectation same that vanish as soon as we get into the restaurant. Unfortunately all begun since the very beginning. The waitress welcome us as we were the worst (and smelly) people she could get in the place, after we get to her stand to ask for a table the manager (in photo) that was sitting in a table next to her, call her and tell her something in secret..., what happen after that she seat us behind a big beam so people that enter the place can’t see us at first. After this our waitress had rude treatment (thing that change after he brought us some water and realize that I was seeing the restaurant in Yelp, from that moment he had a less bad attitude with us. The food is really expensive and tasteless (thing that it suppose don’t matter because it’s suppose to be a fancy place) but the way they -specially the manager- treat their valuable customers cause me a some troubles (I wouldn’t come back, don’t get me wrong) but the way the manager and hostess conduct herself with us (and I suppose the rest of the customers) really make me sad. Why I didn’t leave... my daughter really wanted to eat were the famous do but even she agree to avoid that place at any cost in the future is not that they need our money but they do not deserve us as a customers.
They have some of the best baked goods in the city. My favorite are the croissants and cookies. As I treat I would pop up in here during lunch time or work break and get a few cookies. Very flavorful and yummy.
Baltazar was recommended by a local food magazine foodie. Had dinner before an 8 pm play. Recommend 2 hrs for your entire dinner experience our reservations were at 5pm. Timing worked out just right. Shared a Baltazar Salad plenty for 2 and then split the roasted chicken breast, mash potatoes side. Great time, excellent service and food cooked perfectly.
Have been coming here for years. Stunning venue, good (but not great food). However on the last couple of visits the service has been less than ordinary. Tonight had to beg to be served. Waiter arrogant, impatient and disinterested. While serving table alongside, he was leaning on my companion to the point she was almost out of her seat. Not a good look when the wait staff are so overwhelmed with themselves. Come on guys.. lift your game you are not that important.
I’m very sad. I love Balthazar, I used to go there often but was my first time seating at the bar for having a drink. The bartender was extremely rude and I didn’t have other chance to leave the place totally disappointed...... That’s not fair........
The food was delicious, but the place is extremely noisy. I am young and do not have problems with my ears - but it was hard to keep up a conversation with my mum as we've been place in the very middle of the room. Maybe the owner is thinking about implementing noise-damping measures?
Not my first time here, happened to stop by for quick drinks. Although the place was extremely crowded I was immediately seated at a table. Having just returned from Paris, I opted for a glass of Sancerre, and then a Chablis. The waiters were efficient and attentive. Both wines were quite watery and far from the price for glass (double the glass price in Paris) as well as the fragrance I expected to accompany them. Perhaps this would have been acceptable for a neighborhood wine bar but not for this establishment.
This is probably my favorite brunch spot to visit when I am in NY. We have been here many times and they never disappoint. We had the goat cheese and caramelized onion tart and salmon toast. For our entree we had the eggs in puff pastry and the Balthasar burger. Everything was delicious. The service was also top notch. Highly recommend.
Overrated. Not worth it. The steak was bland, dry and chewy. Fries were not it. Burger was dry and flavourleas. The fish did not taste fresh and not appetizing. Desert : the creme brulee was awful. It tasted like lard. I would recommend the diet coke.
Had eggs Benedict and they were great! Loved the place, the French ambiance takes you back in time. And the service is spot on! It’s totally worth the trip. Spent about 40 dlls on eggs and coffee, but it was money well spent.
A NYC staple. Reservation is a must. Be prepared for a crowded restaurant but very good food and service. Their steak frites is probably one of the best in town but all items are on the menu are pretty excellent. They also have a great wine selection. Overall a great NYC experience.
What kind of a place claims to serve french cuisine and doesn't serve french fries
Always a great drink and meal at the bar. Excellent low key but attentive service. I tend to stick to the classics like the roast chicken, goat cheese and onion tartine, and profiteroles.
Outstanding French cuisine, great service and beautifully designed interior. The only reason I am not giving 4 stars is the acoustics were poor, making it super loud when full. Was much better when the restaurant started to clear out. Also, the back area and bathroom could use a bit of sprucing up - seemed a bit worn around the edges. Overall, an enjoyable experience.
Cozy atmosphere with friendly service. Everything on the menu is superb! A perfect date night option.
Amazing breakfast! expensive but worth it. Good service as well. We ordered the eggs Benedict and a fruit plate on the side. Delicious
A really good bistro that gets the job done for nearly any kind of meal or event. Doesn't matter if you're at the bar or at a table, everyone treats you very well and pays attention to your needs. Gets a little crowded at times, but that happens when you're this good.
The best onion soup I ever had! The rest is good too!!
Great food, superior service, albeit at a price. (Brunch for 3 was $80, with tip.) But a wonderful experience. Our party was delayed by the unexpected. later arrival of one member, but that was no problem. The waitstaff plied us with a bottomless reservoir of coffee and water. One tip: call ahead to ask for a table. A party of two will likely be seated at a small table with bench-style seating. It's okay if you're petite, but uncomfortable if you are tall and over 200lbs.
Be sure to make a reset if you want a table without a long wait. Service is excellent and the food is great. The steak and fries were delicious and the duck is excellent. The food is homemade and the baked goods are fresh. The desserts are hard they resist so go ahead a order one or two. We went back to Balthazar on fewoccasions. Always a great french style meal in New York. Theor are keeping their standards.
Great vibe. Large but still good food and fun. Rez essential
This place is famous for its healthy and tasty food and at a very fair price. So, hurry up! what are you waiting for........ excellent customer satisfaction, preferrably recommended place!!
Service was great. Steak Frites was so good. The combination of steak, fries, butter, and sauce. The kids got made from scratch buttered pasta. So buttery. One year old loved it. Plum tart was yummy. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. They loves families too. Decor and interior so old school and beautiful. Love the look. Walking in from a busy more modern SoHo into the restaurant is pretty cool.
What a great place! While it is very busy and loud, it was worth it! The hostess named Grey was delight and our server Stacey was fantastic!!! We almost went back for a second night in a row due to these two but could not get a table. Oh well, next time we are in town we will be sure to return here. My only wish is that the wines were a little cooler. They are kept at room temp and that was not ideal. Really enjoyed our night here!
The food is delicious, the service is fast, and the staff is friendly and accommodated. Prices are incredibly correct, observing the quality of the food. I would highly recommend it!
