Here you will be able to see the reviews of real people like you who bought the products and services of Augustine (Restaurant) near to the state of New York.
Right now the business gets a rating of 4.5 out of 5 and this rating has been calculated on 499 reviews.
You must have seen that its rating is practically the best one, and it is based on a large number of opinions, so we may think that the evaluation is quite credible. If there are many people who bothered to give their feddback when they've done well with the business, is that it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to place tatings when they are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Restaurant belongs to the category of Haute French restaurant.
The food its great! The atmosphere awesome, but the food it’s quite expensive for the size they serve, they suggested an entré for the pasta, it was a regular size pasta for $70, don’t think it’s worth it!
I can't say enough great things about Augustine. The food and the service were absolutely superb. They were so kind and friendly. The ambience was perfect. Best meal I've had in a while.
Great place for after-work food and drinks! Staff is very friendly, food and drinks are well priced and yum.
beautiful space, excellent service, nice food.
Breakfast was amazing. Good options, decent prices (for breakfast). Had the Augustine Benedict, it was great. Sometimes you order a benedict and a restaurant gives you a butter knife. If your lucky they give you some dull serrated knife. Augustine gives you an amazing super sharp knife that cuts through the eggs, meat, and muffin easily. Such a small detail makes the meal so much more enjoyable. I'm excited to go back for lunch and dinner!
Great quaint restaurant for a lovely brunch. I tried a few items on the menu and enjoyed it all. Dont forget to order the fresh hot pastries !
Enjoyed a nice lunch. Atmosphere, service and food is great. Unfortunately the tables are fairly close, which makes long conversations a little bit uncomfortable.
Came here for the first time for lunch during Restaurant Week. I had this delicious appetizer Roasted Beet Linzer & a juicy Augustine Burger! The staffs are so friendly and welcoming! Love it. I will be back for sure.
Francois is the best, Margot is right behind him. Make sure you get around before it's no more
Excellent!! Fabulous service, great fresh breakfast, beautiful restaurant. Highly recommend.
I had a wonderful time at this place. Last Monday I came with my all friends to celebrate the party and we had a lot of fun, we actually enjoyed everything. Great service, different varieties of delicious food and super friendly staff. A day spent very well. Must recommend!!
Came for RW lunch $25. Portioned well and delicious. Just one thing, there's no dessert
We went for restaurant week lunch, the ambiance is great and the service was very attentive. The food (crab salad and steak frites) was delicious and you will leave happy but you get what you pay for in terms of portion size so don't expect a steal of a deal
Curiously enough, even though we have stayed at the Beekman Thompson hotel twice (the restaurant is located in the hotel's ground floor), we have never dined at Augustine before. Upon learning that Markus Glocker, the illustrious Michelin-star Chef of Bâtard Tribeca took the reins of Augustine, we felt we couldn't procrastinate any longer. And a right decision it was! Great delicious food, expertly prepared and appetizingly plated. Such a great balance of the traditional French fare, bistro style, served in a typical Belle Epoque brasserie interior, and a modern twist, newer and surprising ingredients, with the addition of the Chef's native Austrian staple dishes (Beef Goulash with buttermilk spätzle, chicken dumplings, veal schnitzel, or the Viennese wedding soup) - all of the above combined to create an entirely positive dining experience. What a delight! The lovable service provided by Katya, the affordable prices (a true epitome of "rapport qualité prix"), and a nice wine list all were an added perk. We already booked our second dinner there, in less than a month. Highly recommended.
Excellent atmosphere, great food from Austrian native chef. Schnitzel and the stake are both excellent, and if you like a great, authentic sacher torte definitely leave room for that as well.
Food and buzz great. Go for the Prime Rib special.
Great food, just like Paris. Share the plats to make it affordable.
Nice bar
Throwback environment. Pricey. Feels like a hidden gem.
Excellent service and great food!
I had an early reservation so the place was quiet, but it quickly became very busy. The crowd wasn't any problem. Great ambiance, service, and excellent food and wine. $$$$, but if you can afford it, it's worth the experience. I recommend it.
The decor is so beautiful. I felt like I was on a movie set. Food was DELICIOUS. Perfect date spot and business meals.
Food and service was really nice.
Took my husband for his bday. It was very nice a bit crowded but everyone was pleasant.
Great restaurant. I expected an overpriced mean, and I was ready for it, but the prices were reasonable. Enjoys the food, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was great. Will definitely come back. No kids though.
This spot never fails to impress. They serve excellent food for convenient rates, there no long wait even when they are full.
Gorgeous place. Great breakfast. Friendly staff.
This restaurant exudes old world charm. Excellent food! Great food, nice outdoor patio by the river. Beautiful setting and fantastic service.
We were excited to experience #viennameetsparis , Chef Marcus Glocker’s theme that he is skillfully infusing into Augustine’s existing success. Loved my Raindrop cocktail, whose apparent simplicity and balance is reminiscent of the eponymous Chopin etude. Our salad, entree, and dessert were all Austrian in origin and truly delicious: beet salad, beef gulasch with spaetzle, and an off-menu gugelhupf (sp?) elegantly presented tableside. Service was impeccable in this jewelbox. Thank you!
For breakfast I would give this place 4.5 stars but half stars can't be added. The hostess is very professional. The only glitch was the eggs on focaccia in which I requested a hard poach but which may been overlooked either by the waitress or kitchen staff at some point in the delivery. I do recommend the grapefruit juice, not otherwise being a grapefruit fan but their version is similar to a mimosa but with no alcohol.
Augustine is a treasure. It’s Paris without the airfare! Great food, Great decor, service that is proud but not pretentious...and the bar is just perfect! Try the roasted bone marrow! Excellent!!!
Cote de boef was exquisite. Perfectly cooked, will definitely return. Dessert lacked the luster of the dining experience, however.
This place is beautiful! You'll feel fancier just walking in! The salmon crude is perfect, and when you order your burger rare, they listen and deliver. I will do this again!
The decor is pleasant but can be difficult to navigate without the fear of knocking something over. The service - for me - was friendly but inattentive. The menu seemed inspired but the food was disappointing. In sum, they deny you a salt shaker but you will want a salt shaker. This restaurant needs to dedicate itself to living up to the promise it makes.
Great place.
Terrific food for Restaurant Week
Very popular& good atmosphere!
Intimate, delicious, and just the right amount of fancy. Try the fillet. Worth every penny
My boyfriend and I always joke that it’s impossible to find decent service in NYC. However, this place made the impossible possible. The atmosphere is great, food and wine are fantastic, and our server Kat and her team were beyond helpful. Kat was very attentive and observant without hovering. We had a lot of questions, and she was patient in explaining everything to us, was knowledgeable about the menu, and was honest about what she thought of certain dishes. If you’re looking for authentic fine French dining in a cozy atmosphere, at a reasonable price, and want to take a break from the sub par service at most Manhattan dining establishments, this is the place to go.
Augustine has a nice atmosphere and is a place to go when you’re craving Balthazar but are downtown. I will say, though, that in my friend’s chicken salad, her chicken was undercooked. Also, we ordered a fresh fruit plate for dessert and there was mold on the blueberry. The staff took it away and apologized, saying they’d get us a fresh plate. When they came back, the waitress mentioned that they took off the berries and added different fruits, but it was unclear whether she changed the entire plate or not, so we didn’t eat it at all. They did take the fruit plate off our bill, though, which was nice. However, I now have food poisoning and while it’s unclear of where I got this over the past few days (honestly it could have been from anywhere) I wouldn’t be surprised if I got it from here since I came on a Friday and was sick all weekend.
Horrible. Took 70 minutes to get food ... told us after an hour we would get food in 3 minutes ... was another 10. Had more important customers ahead of us. Colossally disappointing.
nice pub
Amazing food and great service....after dinner make sure to check out the bar next door.
The spinach, the salad, the potatoes were good. My prime rib was a miss. Definitely nothing like they hyped it up to be. Very packed. Seating is on top of each other in the front area. It appeared they had 3 seperate rooms for guest seating. The waiter had a fun personality. Dress attire was little black dress night.
Upscale - very good menu in the heart of the financial district
Excellent French Cuisine
Augustine at the Beeckman Hotel in NY is a splendid french restaurant in downtown Manhattan. Food and wines are top notch and service is attentive and responsive. The environment and decor make it also an attraction in itself. Please also take a moment to visit the hotel lobby library for a drink... must do!
Although this place says it's French, there were quite a few Austrian-influenced dishes on the menu, according to my European friends. Nice cocktails, and the entrees were solid. For me, the desserts were best - the souffle is amazing. Save room for that The entrees on the menu are typical bistro fare executed well - e.g., steak frites, duck breast, mussels. Service was great. Prices were reasonable.
Great service. Nice decor. I had mixed feelings about the food. The beignets were amazing but the lobster cardinal I got had English muffins that were soggy and barely had any lobster. Literally only a few pea-sized pieces of it.
I needed GPS to find the bathroom. Food was ok. Nice vibe.
Great food and service... at a price, of course!
We met the chef Marcus and Chris Lewnes, who served us with absolutely amazing appetizers from beet salad, pear salad, cheese souffle and the dinner was delicious from Hungarian goulash, to branzino, to duck, veal and german spitzel. The desserts were even more amazing...I would highly recommend you go.The service was outstanding and so personable
good food in an interesting part of town. great space
Awesome atmosphere and very attentive service. The food was fresh and yummy. Will surely recommend this restaurant to friends. Reasonable rates and generous meals. Keep up the great work.
Great fresh food. Friendly service.
Another restaurant from the Balthazar group. Classic French bistro fare with a twist. Price is appropriate given quality. Located in the Hotel Beekman in the somewhat off the beaten track south of City Hall.
Nice food, not many non alcoholic options past soda or juice.
Excellent service. Breakfast was very good.
Had my breakfast right after my city hall marriage very nice and elegant place and the food was great
Wonderful lunch. Trout special amazing
Great food, awesome cocktails. After dinner you can migrate to hotel bar/lounge
Fabulously beautiful and deliciously elegant place for a special evening.
Delicious and elegant but not fussy. Fantastic duck and a seasonal apricot galette. Go!
This is a beautiful restaurant in a gorgeous hotel. The food is fantastic. Try the bone marrow— I had never had this before but it is truly delicious. All of the dishes are delicious. This is a very special place for a celebratory meal. The service is also amazing. Have a drink before or after in the hotel bar.
This place is good! Reasonable prices, considerable portions and the staff members are consistently welcoming.
**** Absolutely Amazing **** Found this truly wonderful restaurant by chance the day we got married when we eloped to New York. After finalising our wedding paper work at the Department of State Apostille at 123 William St, New York we stumbled upon The Augustine by total chance. It is located just around the block and only a 4 minute walk away. From the moment we walked through the door we were congratulated, fussed over and escorted to a large booth of our choice in the dining room. Within minutes of being seated complimentary Champagne was served. The waiter was amazing, attentive and extremely knowledgeable about the menu, wine list and cocktail selection Having never tried a Manhattan he suggested that I try a smoother version made with Bourbon. It was absolutely delicious. For our wedding breakfast we decided to have a Hamburger!!! Why not this is New York ??? The burger was stunningly presented with a huge portion of French Fries. I can honestly say it was the best burger I have ever had. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the service was absolutely outstanding. I cannot recommend this Restaurant highly enough. We were made to feel extremely special on our very special day and would like to thank the staff for helping us create our special memories.
Our first anniversary dinner was perfect! The drinks, charcuterie, seafood, and duck egg creme brule were nothing less than sensational. Same for the atmosphere and highly-trained staff. We'll definitely come visit again!
Beautiful place and amazing food!
Great food and atmosphere.
Hidden gem in the Beekman hotel downtown. Perfect for breakfast, lunch, and dinner....food is fantastic, just try the pommes pressé...decor spot on. Augustine is perfect.
A great dining establishment. We found Augustine's by accident and it became our favourite place in New York. We mainly had breakfast here and were never ever disappointed . The staff were super friendly and extremely good at their jobs. Many thanks to Krisha and her front of house professionalism. We will be back .
This place is beautiful and the food are also awsome.
Wonder food, must do again.
The food was delicious and they very professional..
Very good. Not excellent.
Great food - brilliant atmosphere
Had a fantastic brunch. Everything was delicious! Service was attentive and friendly. Beautiful décor inside.
Expensive restaurant with French food. Brunch was good for the starters and deserts. They also had a very good coffee. The place is connected to another lobby restaurant of the hotel. The personnel is very nice and helpful.
I will be going back again if I’m ever in NYC. The food was so delicious I forgot to take pictures until the very end. The ambiance was lovely and the staff took care of us. Wish they’d transplant to DC nearby my house!
Great steak frites in a cool environment with helpful staff
Nice service, good food...can get a bit loud on weekend nights.
super appetizing. prices were average for the menu.
Excellent food! Great food, nice outdoor patio by the river. The food and service was amazing! Highly recommend this place. Been here twice for lunch and really enjoyed the experience. I highly recommend this company. Thanks guys!
Great souffle!
Phenomal . I love the atmosphere here
Great atmosphere and fantastic food.
Great food, especially the Sea urchin spaghettini. Prices are pretty reasonable for a fine dining restaurant. We live in the neighborhood, so this is a frequent favorite.
What a beautiful experience dining at Augustine is. The decor is very pretty. My colleague and I met for a breakfast of french toast and coffee. The food was divine. Service was very attentive. This is the perfect spot for a business meal.
Great decor, service, food, coffee and drinks. One of my favorite places to spurge on a topshelf cocktail in this end of town.
Nice and tasty food and professional staff. The only but is the space, or the lack of it. Tables are so close that you can share your meal with your neighbors, also it's so noisy that you'll find pretty difficult to have a conversation with your friends.
Beautiful setting, great food, and fantastic service. Highly recommended!!
Recommend this French restaurant! Love the bar next door as well!
As a French person in the city I am always picky about French food. Here I have no problem going there over and over again. The food is delicious, the staff is very professional, the place is gorgeous and remind me of home. The only down side is the price. Very expensive for that kind of food. But when I miss home I am ready to spend that money and taste France.
The customer service is regularly speedy, fantastic atmosphere, very nice staff. Will return here again when I am nearby.
Awesome experience
Best egg Benedict in NY !!!
Great service great food
Best service in Manhattan. Love for brunch.
Went for Brunch on a Sunday morning. The food was soooooo scrumptious. The atmosphere was incredible. It is beautiful inside!!! Only downisde is that it was a little difficult to find because it is part of a hotel.
We had an extraordinary in this restaurant. We enjoyed the amazing vibes and the food. The staff members were super amiable. I am happy we ultimately decided to eat here.
Amazing food, wonderful atmosphere and great service. Highly recommended!!
Great food. Underrated.
The best thing about this place is that everything of this place is best. In simple an outstanding place that deserve more than 5 stars.
Very fancy restaurant. Had a steak for lunch and it was good. Staff was very friendly and kind.
Great restaurant with a French theme menu. Lots of good choices, excellent selection of wines and drinks and attentive service.
The food here was good but nothing special. I would come here again if only for the aesthetic of the inside. Its absolutely gorgeous, it's like an old train!
Very nice ambiance, excellent waitstaff and food!
Very similar to Balthazar in terms of food, atmosphere, service, but the tables aren’t crowded, so it’s less busy/less bustling, and a little more elegant.
Good food
Nice venue. However it is a bit cramped when the venue is crowded. Food and drinks are good & wait staff Is great as suggesting food or drinks
Their brunch was wonderful.
Birthday present from my daughter..fancy
This restaurant is a slice of Paris. Elegant, classic decor, efficient and crisp service, and excellent cuisine. Prices are expectedly high but fair given the quality of the cuisine and preparation. My wife and I came for a special dinner. I had the yellowtail crudo appetizer (shared with my wife), beef goulash and my wife had the poitrine of duck. Soooo delicious! Portions didn't look huge, but we were so full we didn't have room for dessert. Furthermore, the restaurant gave us two financiers when the check came. Nice touch! The Beekman hotel next door has a stunning lounge that you pass through to go to the restrooms. It's busy all the time. Why not treat yourself once in a while and make the trip? P.S. I recommend this more highly than the more famous and extremely busy Baltazar in SoHo.
They have pretty good burgers here (good enough to spark a convo on where the best burger is!) - great fries! Came for restaurant week, so also got to try the crudo - light and very fresh. Couldn’t fit the chocolate cake dessert!
Beautiful setting, great food, and fantastic service. I'm not sure what else you can ask from a restaurant. Everyone loved their food, for me the highlight was the pork chop.
Racist or pretentious? You decide. My boyfriend and I decided to eat brunch here Friday AM after walking over the Brooklyn bridge (as it was nearby & close to the train). Upon entering we were asked if we had a reservation, which we did not (the place was completely empty), however they were able to accommodate. I felt instantly judged the moment I ordered tap water, which sounds quite funny, but true. Now lets get to the reason why I’ve decided to leave 1 star. I’ve personally worked at some of the nicest restaurants in NYC, and I’ve never seen such rude/disappointing service in my life... ESPECIALLY after paying over $70 for brunch for 2 people. If I’m going to pay extreme prices for a meal, then I expect the service to match. My boyfriend who’s Mexican paid the bill, while I was using the restroom. He used a $100 bill, as the total was $70... so it shouldn’t be a big deal to use a larger bill. When I got back from the restroom, he told me that the waiter refused his bill and said that it didn’t pass the “pen test.” Since I’ve managed in both retail and the service industry... I know exactly what the pen test is. When I looked at the $100 bill, there was about 15 yellow marks on the bill. If anyone else knows what the pen test is... the pen mark will show brown/black if fake, and then yellow if the bill is legitimate. Every single mark was yellow. I asked Metzi the Manager why he refused the bill. The manager just kept repeating that it failed the pen test...even tho it didnt. We ended up having to pay in 20’s, and didn’t receive an apology or have a nice day upon exiting. I’ve never felt so judged in my entire life. If I could give negative stars I would.
Food is not bad, and the environment is adorable. But you’ll also see flies lingering over your plates.
Incredible food, atmosphere, service, everything. Thank you for joining the neighborhood!!
Our favorite restaurant in NYC, amazing goulash!
Delicious breakfast with absolutely excellent service and they were very accomodating of our situation with a 2 year old and an infant.
Amazing place for luch or brunch in a well designed French atmosphere restaurant!!!
The service staff is exceptional.we were 15 for Sunday brunch. Our server managed taking our ever chaging orders like the seasoned pro she is for her young years. Zero attitude. A smile, eye contact and just a lovely demeanor. Thank you. The only thing that could use attention is the luke warm tap water poured into small glasses and no unbeckoned refills. Also we has to ask several times for bread baskets. It took a really long time to get 2 small portioned baskets for 14 people. 3 baskets would be what was called for. We didnt receive full cups of coffee. Aside from these small mentions great service, wonderful menu selections, delicious food, lovely ambiance, never felt rushed and a very pleasant experience. Definitely make reservations. $$$
Fantastic atmosphere, food and great service. The black pepper crusted fillet mignon was exquisite. Can't wait to go again!
Service was friendly and fairly fast. The interiors are dimly lit and cozy. We started our brunch with beignets, which were soft and fluffy. The pastry cream that comes with the beignets are very good. The Augustine Burger is rather intimidating to look at. The taste is good, but not mind-blowing. The bun is sturdier than a normal burger bun, but it was able to maintain its integrity with a juicy burger. I usually love caramelized onions, but these seemed a bit salty. The gruyere cheese is good, but I just wish there a little bit more of it. The fries are very good.
Had dessert. It was was awesome. Souffle was fantastic.
Very classy, excellent Manhattan.
I honestly enjoy the food and customer service, fantastic location nearby to where I live. The workers are always very friendly. Will visit here again.
Great food and atmosphere worth the wait for the food and it made ne feel like royalty
Solid. Just had a nice glass of Rose. Go next door instead
Intimate, enjoyable atmosphere and delicious cuisine inside the Beakman Hotel. For our group of about 10, service was rather slow on a Wednesday night, and portions were generally small. Know going in -- this is not "traditional" French fare, but rather Franco-Germanic from the Alsace-Lorraine in the east if the country. Hearty food with heavier Eastern European influence -- think goulash and spaetzl instead of escargot and coq au vin. The adjoining pub (and route to the Augustine's restrooms) is an awesome space -- dark, cavernous with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves overstuffed with aged tomes. You just to have imagine some City Hall late night deals went down here!
This is a gem of a bygone era in lower Manhattan. Beautifully preserved architecture, great location and perfectly prepared food fit for a high end business lunch. Bustling from Noon until 2 so I recommend making a reservation.
Great venue. It was packed yet the space still felt open and had low noise level. Service and food was top notch. They even had Grey Lady on tap! A great dining experience.
Loved...amazing egg benedict with Maine lobster. Great ambience, the servers were on point, great latte, just great all around. Highly recommend (fyi, $100 brunch for 2, totally worth it though).
Wonderful dinner experience. The food was fantastic and the Art Deco style endearing. Quick and attentive service. Good all around except the AC did not seem to be working and it was very warm.
One of my favorite places, very romantic/old school NYC.
The place serves big dishes and for affordable prices. helpful staff. Highly recommended.
Tartar was so great
Amazing services and yummy food.
If you want an upscale meal with upscale service without having to dress upscale yourself, Augustine is your place. I came here for brunch and was blown away by how kind and attentive the staff was. The space makes you feel like you have stepped into a cafe in 1920s Paris. And the food is top notch - we had the burger and the eggs augustine, both of which were excellent and cooked perfectly.
Great food great atmosphere great service
This is a very ladies-who-lunch feeling restaurant. It's appointed like an old-school Uptown New York restaurant. I loved all the glass and the mirrors. The food is good. A little pricey for what it is but it is a very fancy hotel so that's to be expected. The standout was the eggs Cardinal and the lobster and tomato salad. I thought the Puff pastry on the galette was a bad choice. It was tough and hard to cut. Take your mom, she'll love it!
Great spot, drinks mixed to perfection and food to die for. Try the Julia's blush was a great drink not on the menu!
Classic French restaurant, good menu, strong drinks, great French all-day cafe vibes
Delicious brunch food selection and a warm environment.
There were about 6 empty tables and they made us eat at the bar, even after 4 courses, over 2 hours, and nobody seated at the empty tables, the hostess and manager still fought us and would not allow us to eat at a table without a reservation. Trying to be the old Pastis and not even close. I saw many people get turned down when there was plenty of places for people to be seated all over the dining room, and the would just ask people to leave. I dont even get treated this rudely when in actual Parisian cafes in Paris! Bartender stumbled to serve us and the food ended up being okay but not worth the prices and we recieved terrible service.
Delicious food in a great classic French bistro. Wonderful ambiance and service
Went to try the Cheese soufflé and steak tartare. Both were delicious. Also had a great salad. Wine selection was lovely and dessert was amazing. Sat at the bar and bartender was attentive and friendly. Overall a great place for some upscale food. Atmosphere was surprisingly casual however.
Good but overly expensive
