This Restaurant corresponds to the category of French restaurant.
Really good food, nice menu. Our service was fair. Our waiter seemed to disappear at times.
Had a beautiful table in the corner of the garden. Food was fantastic. Service by Francisco was even better.
Amazing hangar steak and very cool atmosphere
This is one of my favorite New York secrets - although it's not really a secret! It's like a tiny Paris bistro that's been picked up and plugged into the West village. The food is always spectacularly delicious, so if you want a bit of France without taking the plane ride, this is the place to come.
Great experience!! Food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing, specially seafood was made to perfection!! Generous portions!! Great ambience!! Our server and host both were very pleasant and friendly.
Excellent food and drink, attentive service without any pretence. The mussels in white wine sauce is delicious, as is the salad Nicoise. Good music, too
Disorganized bordering on disinterest but good food and service.
Do not miss this restaurant. We have been to eat here twice, and both times it was excellent. Outdoors in the garden I might as well have been in a garden Paris. Sitting by the front window I could only have been in NY. We are returning next Friday and are sure to get the same level of service and cuisine.
Good place, a bit dingy with small tables, but food is rather nice. Try the oysters, really good! The portions are pretty big. The wine selection is pretty good too!
Good food and people for decent price Very diverse
Tight place. Snails were delicious. Service somewhat slow for a Wednesday night. Got the entrecôte, slightly over cooked and not worth the price at all.
Excellent location, service and food. A true French bistro in the Village.
Please use a 50% off Group deal then maybe you can be satisfied.
Great little spot in The Village for a quick bite, Happy hour or dinner. Service was quick, friendly and informative.
Great French Food....but I can't read the menu
Really good service and everyone enjoyed their dinner. This place feels like a Parisian brasserie.
Lovely little place with a lot of character. I had the truffle mac and cheese, which was delicious. Great place for a date night.
There's a soft spot in our heart for this place, Gregory the bartender, and the amazing times we've had here. The hospitality is always great and the food stellar. Dollar oysters are the best in town [trust me, no where else in the city will you find better Bluepoints than here].
Cozy atmosphere and delicious truffle Mac and cheese
Great Service! The Cote's French wine superb.
Great service, big portions, delicious
We had lunch inthe garden. Fried branzino and duck magret . Wonderful !
Cozy with friendly staff. Great for a drink after work.
Delicious home cooked French cousine. The duck was particularly good with its crispy texture while tender enough to drop off the bone. My only flaw was the drink service was a little slower than preferred. Otherwise excellent all round.
Had to wait for 30mins even though we had a reservation. Duck was meh. Overall pricey for the experience
We had a family brunch there over the holidays. They were very helpful and everyone found something on the menu and enjoyed the morning.
Great atmosphere. Great food and service. Can't wait to return.
Impeccable. The service, atmosphere, and quality of French cuisine is just perfection.
Very cute and cozy place, service is great too can get a little noisy when there is an event going on
Service great. Food too salty. Nicoise salad was fine. Beef bourginon too salty.
I love the food there and the décor
Friendly and peaceful place, nice staff.
Honestly all around great. Felt like I was back in Paris in a neighborhood restaurant. A refreshingly peaceful spot in the village, with a quieter atmosphere, incredible service, wide variety of French and non French wines, and great food. It’s probably not going to be the most incredible French food you’ve ever eaten, but it’s very good and combined with the ambiance and service, it’s a win. Sit in the garden if it’s a pretty day! Happy hour is til 6pm and has $6 house wine.
Good food, nice service, great restaurant.
Food was disappointing. Had the tuna tartar for appetizer, which was just a pile chunky raw tuna cubes, and the mussels in white wine, which were overcooked, partly dry and cold. Service was also just okay.
One of my favourite restaurants in the city. The best escargots you'll ever have and you can hold me to that. The menu's very reasonably priced for the quality you receive, large portions which are ideal for a heavy eater like myself. Staff seem to have a real kinship for one another. Great atmosphere and I've never left feeling anything less than satisfied.
Excellent French food
Great outdoor seating and an inviting indoor dining area.
Wonderful food. Warm, attentive service. Happy staff.
Good French food, well cooked and well served. Moules Marinere were excellent, as was the Sauce Bernaise accompanying the superb and obviously scratch-made frites.
Love the live music. Yummy steak
Cute place, but honestly the food wasn't that good. My friend had salmon ordered medium rare - it came out way too overcooked and dry. The ratatouille was super salty, as well. The waiter was nice enough to take it back and give another dish (but that was charged and took 15 more min). The seafood black linguine pasta I had based on the waiters recommendation was okay - but just okay. Tasted like something I could have made at home. And the prawns were a bit fishy. I'd come for wine during the day in the summer to hang out in the patio, but would not come for serious eating. Shame, because it has such potential.
Poor service. Management completely lacks hospitality skills.
Very pricey, but the service was good and the Seafood risotto was decent (salmon was definitely overcooked and dry).
quiet gem of a local restaurant. great food and atmosphere
A.O.c. is my go to favorite restaurant in my neighborhood. Noise level is always amenable for conversation and the French food is authentic as in Paris
Great place. Staff is attentive. Food was fresh. Had dinner with native French people and they were impressed. Back room cozy. Tea served wonderfully and food was intoxicating.
Seemingly small French restaurant with very large back area. Excellent selection of seafood and different cuts of meat that are prepared phenomenally. The mussels in the tomato sauce were perfectly tender and served in a very filling large portion.
We had 2 burgers. Very disappointing. Garden in the back is nice though, but not enough to come back.
The meal was fantastic (salmon), one of the finest I've ever had. There was absolutely nothing lacking, the kitchen staff served up complete perfection. But the best part of this restaurant is the festive attitude and warm, welcoming staff. Everyone was very jovial and genuine, attentive and yet reserved enough to not make their customers feel rushed. Running a restaurant at this level of casual professionalism is no easy feat, but AOC makes it look like a breeze. It's become one of the main reasons I look forward to returning to New York.
Who can beat getting $1 oysters. We had oysters from Connecticut which were so good that we wanted to order a second dozen but had to control ourselves because we had lunch to go to. Great French atmosphere. efficient service. Their blood Marys were good.
Delicious brunch spot at a moderately priced French inspired restaurant
The ambiance and scenery are lovely. It's a quaint place in the West village. However, the food was not up to par. We got a few different stories about the absence of the chef. Oysters were not fresh. Risotto was thick, unsalted, and drowned in truffle oil. Mussels were overdone and cooked with water instead of wine. If the food improves, I may return, based on the visual appeal.
Dropped in for a quick late breakfast. We need to return next time we are in NYC and sample lunch or dinner. Good service.
Have been visiting for over 20 years, I drop in every few years. Great every time, consistently excellent. A shame a single (noobie) neighbor's complaint stopped the music evenings. Music on Bleeker Street... imagine that.
Cute French spot - great service, really good wine and good food - we had the cheese plate for 3 (fruits are super fresh and there’s a generous portion of cheese). The goat cheese phyllo was good but not outstanding. Love the vibe and the decor!
Authentic French cuisine, as French as I'm! Really enjoyed the Coq au Vin. Also, bring your own wine on Monday Tuesday Wednesday
Food was great. Nice and cozy place. Only complaint is that when it is busy it is hard to get a server's attention.
Time and space capsule to mid-20th century paris
Great staff and good food! Definitely try the truffle Mac and cheese
Now this AOC has a super good brunch! I went there on a Sunday and have no issues to report at all! Great service and great food. Place got packed after 12noon so get there early and make a reservation if you have time to. You will not regret the eats here! Go for the French toast-best I have had.
Great place but food was over cooked and bland.
This was a great little romantic spot for our anniversary. Nice atmosphere, pretty good service, wonderful food.
Had brunch in the garden and thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere. Very relaxed. Watched as the line for buvette grew and grew —- had originally wanted to eat there, but when we walked inside and stood there for a few mins without even being greeted by the passing waitstaff we bailed. Very friendly staff at AOC! Glad we ended up here!
Please avoid this place. Strange tasting oysters served on melted ice with ketchup... half of the wine list not available.
Besides the staff dropping the dirty dishes into buss bins everything was great
I ate in the garden out back. It was a nice outdoor area. The menu was great. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Had a lovely creme brulee for dessert. Service was pleasant. I would recommend to anyone interested in quality French cuisine.
The vibe is very French, decor is easy on the eyes, and guests were polite. The dorade had a fishy flavor, but was soft enough to cut with a fork. The potatoes were cooked just right: soft, with a touch of salt and butter. The asparagus was also well cooked. The dry aged shell steak had a pleasantly strong steak flavor and tasted as a steak should. However, it was not cooked evenly; one side was well done, while the other was medium rare. Fortunately, the steak was not burnt. The hostess was ditsy and didn't seem to understand I had a reservation. The waiter was inept at best. He asked me multiple times if I wanted anything to drink (alcohol implied). Yet, I had to ask him three times to get a bottle of sparkling water. I had to ask another employee just to get ketchup. The waiter was completely inattentive...that is, until a large group of people showed up; then he started rushing me. With regards to the restroom, the floor was soaking wet and the door wouldn't close quite right. I might go back, but this place is not near the top of my list.
Overpriced and disinterested service. Miss.
Delish food !! Love this restaurant.. waiters and atmosphere is great ! 10 stars
Great atmosphere and awesome food!
AOC is like a taste of Home (and I'm french), delicious french food with a various menu items. Now they even have a crazy happy hour at the bar, with $5 dishes and glass of house wine. Bartender is super friendly and attentive about the service. The best place to have a romantic date at the bar, a brunch with your friends in the garden, or even celebrate your birthday in the back room.
The food was delicious, the place itself is adorable, and the staff is really welcoming and helpful! I will definitely go back!
Got there at 7:30, ignored for 25 minutes. Finally got a drink. My friend met me and we ordered another round of drinks and cheese plate, which we got 20 min later. Ordered dinner- was so exited to try to the pasta and kale salad- but they forgot about it and after 45 we left. Manager could care less- my advice is to check out Buvette next door or Via Carota
Location and ambiance was great, but the food was mediocre. I ordered the duck confit and shared appetizers with a friend. The appetizers were escargot and the tuna tartare which were ok. The duck confit was quite dry and the skin although crisp, felt like it was overcooked and was borderline burnt. The duck also didn't have much flavor. My friend ordered the pork chop and I had a piece. I can't quite remember the flavor of it, but it was ok I think. Price is also higher than I was expecting for the quality of food.
Came here for the first time with my boyfriend and we LOVED it. we sat in the garden at about 9pm and it was so lovely. I ordered the lamb sausages and although they were delicious, I was hoping that the portion would have been even just slightly bigger for the price you pay. Our waiter was wonderful, recommended the wine we ordered which was great, and overall very attentive. Had a great time :)
I think this place has excellent food and when I'm Here with my lawyer and his judge wife I get treated wonderfully but the minute I come in on my own as I just moved to the neighborhood I get treated by the bartender with the beard who's name Is Victor and I'm so disgusted
Love the food and the staff are all pretty nice, yet they seem to be understaffed for a weekend night.
Good standby.
One of my favorite spots to eat in New York City. I take groups there and I eat there a couple times a month. Good service. Great food! Perfect location in heart of the Village. Wonderful happy hour! I am treated like family; you will be also. Seating in outdoor garden or several large rooms. Onion soup!
Enjoyed brunch here a week ago and love it! Perfectly French and large portions. Free refills on coffee and the service was prompt. Absolutely no complaints here and would love to try their evening menu! I will be back (:
Great restaurant. It has an amazing atmosphere and setting. The service is wonderful. The food is great and the location is also great. We had the best waitress.
Great food, nice service.
Boisterous French restaurant that is perfect for groups and late night fun. Food is very good, service decent and location is ideal in the midst of the Village. Restaurant is noisy, casual, and very enjoyable for a crowd. Menu is what you would expect of a French Cafe.
Charming authentic neighborhood French bistro feel. Decor and ambiance reminds me of the off-the-beaten path restaurants in Paris... a place that isn't on Yelp or tourist review sites, but should be.. except that it would get overrun and lose its je ne sais quoi. So let's keep it a secret. ;-) Solid menu options with excellent nods to French cuisine. Loved the Poulet-Ratatouille be Merguez de Barbes. Love that the staff treats the local regulars like family. We witnessed an older gay couple (it is in the Village after all) being spoken to and doted on with such attention and care by the owner, manager and wait staff. It warmed my heart to also hear the everyone say, "See you tomorrow!" as the couple left. Definitely going to come back and make it a regular spot for us too!
We started going here when it was GROVE and then we got a GROUPON for AOC a few years ago and that was it. We were hooked!! AOC is an authentic french bistro. The burger, mussels and the cauliflower au gratin incredible. The staff is always welcoming.
My girlfriend and I had a great time there. The food was rich but expensive. Atmospheric in its setting and the staff was attentive. If you want genuine French cuisine go there.
Best onion soup and escargot I’ve had in a very long time. Get a seat in the garden. It’s cozy and has a happy atmosphere. It was packed so clearing the table was a bit slow.
Waitress was very kind and welcoming, great ambience, especially for office outings.
Wonderful service...classic French offerings...we are fans!
Never fails to have some of the best service in NYC!!! will always go back
Love the space! Always a great time!! Bartenders are awesome!
The atmosphere at this restaurant is great. Yes a little small. We came when it was a little busy but we did not wait long. Our waitress was very helpful. Our food was good well cooked chicken and steak and our salads were fresh. Desserts also a plus. Delicious place.
The food was great and the service attentive. This is a great cozy Greenwich Village restaurant great for dates and small groups.
My fiancé and I just had our engagement dinner there. Again, it was amazing food, the service was kind, and the $ was perfect. My family and I will be coming here for years to come.
Always awesome
We had a leisurely dinner where we shared a number of great appetizers and a bottle of wine. Service was attentive and friendly. Our table was in the front corner of the restaurant, great for people watching.
A.O.C is such a great space! It seems like a lot of the other restaurants on the block but venture out to the back and that outdoor space is something to behold. With a mural of Paris on the wall, song with the perfect setting to transport you out or NYC, it can't be beat. Their starter bread comes out warm and it's great, the waiters are super courteous and the rest of the food was great. From the steak with potato and salad (which I thought was an odd combination but turned out to be quiet good) to the chicken on the menu with a surprisingly sweet sauce and fries. I liked everything we got and I can't wait to go back.
We had a very Nice late lanche on Sunday. A superb Boeuf Tartar and a Chicken Poulet delicious. The Staff was very attentif and friendly. The red wine was perfect. And to close our meal we ordered the real Tarte Tatin, the one only the French has the recipe . We will be back.
A long survived restaurant on the village. Have a cute garden in the back, but the outdoor chatting noise in the summer could be quite disturbing to the local resides fr time to time.
We can for a wine tasting and that part was good. But before the wine tasting we got there early and got a bite to eat. My husband ordered a club sandwich which took more than 30 mins to come out. They never checked on the table more than once.
Love going here! Would definitely recommend the truffle mac and cheese, the food is very filling so try not to order too much.
Lovely lunch on the patio
Disgusting. How do you order a half chicken and get chicken pieces without a leg?? I felt like I was eating someone else's leftovers. I did an online order so couldn't return it. Had a few bites cause I was hungry. Dry and tasteless as well. Disgusted by the experience.
Great atmosphere. Quiet and quaint... Food and service were on point...
So quaint. Wonderful place for a romantic meal. Food was fresh and delicious. Presentation was lovely. Tuna tartare was excellent!
Representative of many classic Parisian dishes. Felt a few items could've been better, particularly for the price point. Overall, a good experience.
We went here while on our trip to NY and this was by far the best place we ate at, or really have ever eaten at. The food is out of this world. My fiancé got the truffle risotto which we still can’t stop talking about 2 months later. Definitely recommend to anyone in town.
70 Oz ribeye steak can I say anything else more awesome oysters and truffle mac and cheese come on
Food is good, service is fine, but very cold. Super cold and you can’t enjoy you branch. And they miss understood me with a tea. Got me black, but not earl grey. But server was nice and carry, but he could be more honest about tea selection.
Great service, generous servings, delicious food. Check Groupon, they usually have great deals for this place.
Went there on my official first date in the NYC after living here for 5 years. Food was wonderful the atmosphere was perfect. My dinner guest was amazing. Although I was walking with crutched they made me feel comfortable and accommodated without making me feel as though I was out of place.
Great oyster great service with nice location
Attentive Service and authentic French cuisine at good prices
This is one of our favorite breakfast spots! Opens nice and early and doesn’t disappoint. Lovely staff and the best atmosphere- it can be super busy but never feels crowded or cramped. Love the home fries, lamb sausages and bowls of coffee!
I still do not and can not understand why the Brooklyn location has closed! My husband and I used to go every other week after movies. I tried this location and I wasn’t as pleased as the one from Brooklyn. It was busy and the food was less tastier in some way. Overall the steak was B+ okay.
Always enjoy Great, very Fresh oysters here at $1 each ! Plus great service & other good food after oysters! Lovely garden in good weather.
I have been a loyal patron of AOC since 2010. Great service, great food, cute ambience, what's not to love about this place?
Calamari were great. The steak was really hard, really sad that a $35 dollar steak was of terrible quality. Also service was a bit clueless. I won't come back and I won't recommend this place to my friends.
Good eats. Love the goat cheese omelette
Great Country french.
The best
Great omelette. Great service and super authentic decor.
Awesome food, drinks & atmosphere! Friendly & attentive staff. Everything seemed on point.
A very nice place to have pure French food. Their foods are simple super and delirious. It's better than some restaurants in Paris for my opinion. A nice court yard at the back is very nice during the summer time.
The food there is very solid. You can also be guaranteed to have a solid French meal there. However, that's all you could expect. There are no interesting twists or turns at the restaurant, and the prices are high, as you'd expect from W. Village. I love it, though. Recommend if in area or in hankering for good french food.
Twenty five minutes to receive three wines and a beer. Twenty more to get the check, which required multiple reminders. Another patron had to actually stand and yell for her check, while the place was empty. For four non cocktail drinks with terrible service we were auto grat'ed twenty percent. Avoid this place, treated terribly and a ridiculous auto grat policy.
Service sucks at this place. I sat down and it took 30 minutes to be recognized. Ordered their half chicken with French fries only to be told 20 minutes later that they ran out of chicken. Walked out. Too bad because I actually loved the atmosphere.
Good cocktails, atmosphere, and service. Cheese and charcuterie plate was very average. The duck rilette wasn’t good. Prices are high for the quality. Given all the other good French and wine bar options in NYC I’m not sure it’s worth a return visit.
Delightful garden setting but food is pretty terrible. Not good enough for the price or area’s standards.
Great food and music. Hidden (Not really hiding :) ) space in back. Cozy.
Great atmosphere, food and drinks
Great place, great food, great environment. The staff is friendly and very kind. They should advertise their patio a bit more since it's a very good atmosphere. French restaurant indeed, authentic cuisine and good wines. First time but definetly not my last time
Food was delicious. Service was very very slow. 91°out and the air conditioning unit was not working.
This place has terrible customer service. I’ve kept coming over the years for the food but every interaction Ive ever had with the employees leaves a lot to be desired. The attitude is to be expected since the worst service comes at the hands of the owner. Save your money and go somewhere else.
Enjoyed my experience and so did my French acquaintance.
Wonderful and enchanting, sit at the bar and have an amazing time. Food is excellent and wine flows freely.
Nice spot, came here on Friday morning, before the lunch rush, had a wonderful brunch, good service and a lovely setting, especially at the backyard tables
I remember when they first moved into the neighborhood selling 16 dollar steaks... those prices are long gone, but the excellent quality of their food and hospitality remain. Truly some of the most delicious french cuisine you will find in the city.
Great service. Good clean space. Was a packed night but owner found a way for my party of 6. Food excellent standard French brasserie fare. Will def be back.
20 dollars for two Half's of lager Really
Very unpleasant experience! Very rude & harsh bartender. Not very welcoming, no charm - such a shame!
Best oyster happy hour in the West Village
Great food ..great service... beautiful patio
Food and service we're exceptional. Price for quality represents outstanding value....
Good service and great food in cozy, homey atmosphere.
Been going for 10yrs food great local Greenwich village local bartender Jonathan is great and a friend they have 2 other places as well
A smallish French restaurant like many you see around the city. the difference, however, is it's the only one I know that is actually run by French people - from the kitchen to the bus staff. Look for the classic, traditional, standards of bistro faire... escargot, magnet de canard, steak frites, etc. totally non inventive, but all excellently prepared. We go often and never disappointed by any dish. The dorade royale is my favorite. Always fresh. And, the prices are quite fair.
Great location, super fun to walk around the area, total NY feel, the bench outside the place is so cute and fun to just wait for friends there; the inside is cute, charming, comfy, unique, cozy, great atmosphere, good service, great food, good prices, the mussels were great , French fries too. Highly recommend them
A.O.C is such a great space! It seems like a lot of the other restaurants on the block but venture out to the back and that outdoor space is something to behold. With a mural of Paris on the wall, song with the perfect setting to transport you out or NYC, it can't be beat. Their starter bread comes out warm and it's great, the waiters are super curteous and the rest of the food was great. From the steak with potato and salad (which I thought was an odd combination but turned out to be quiet good) to the chicken on the menu with a surprisingly sweet sauce and fries. I liked everything we got and I can't wait to go back.
Fantastic service, excellent oysters. My party arrived in bits and groups, and it was no big deal for the staff. We were well cared for. Only nitpicks: the torchon of foie gras was a bit gristly, so not properly cleaned. The duck confirm was burned and dried out on the leg section.
Charming atmosphere, unfortunately the food quality didn’t match
Wonderful decor in the back room, risotto was excellent and the cocktails were delish!
Totally phenomenal casual French restaurant. Usually French is expensive and stuffy but not here. Decent price, cute restaurant and nice outdoor seating in back. Has all the classics you want along with delicious updated cuisine. Staff is very nice too!
Great great French food. I had le demi poulet as a main course, and it was delicious! Wasn't too dry or too moist, had a great flavor throughout, and the fries on the side hit the spot. Recommend for French cuisine.
Execution of both the food and beverage programs at this place are very, very weak for a place that bills itself as an authentic, French restaurant. Some food was cold, cocktails made poorly and with cheap ingredients, wine options limited and not good. Also, they were out of many things. Was very disappointed and will not go back again. Manhattan has so many better options.
My partner had the avocado toast.. A thin spread of guacamole on toast $8.. I had the eggs over easy..guess should have said over medium because it's all raw in the middle. Anyway total bill comes to $37 and we now need to go find another place to eat
Great place for happy hours and great service
