Disappointed with the food. I had pakoras which weren’t cooked properly, I couldn’t eat it and the Dahi Bhalla didn’t taste fresh at all, paneer kadaiwala was okay, however the owner was very nice and acceptable to the feedback and didn’t charge me for the pakoras, these 2 stars are for the hospitality.

My favorite Indian food restaurant for 18 years and running. Service is always great and the food is consistently delicious. The owner is amazing and gets to know her customers. The lamb is always tender, the fish kabobs from the tandoori are surprisingly wonderful considering I'm not the biggest fish fan. Best mango lassi, house made chai tea with free refills, yummy desserts and a wonderful lunch buffet available 7 days a week! They always have a coupon in the Entertainment Book I think and even let me keep it to use again when i come back. I love that place so much...it's making me hungry writing about it!

Taj Mahal lunch buffet was my first experience of Indian food longer ago than I care to remember. Had Yelp been around back in that era, this would have been a review much more tightly packed with wonder and flowery language. Alas, this is 2018, and I have tried so many new and exciting things that the novelty and wonder have faded. Mind you, Taj Mahal has solid service, a clean and organized dining room, and generally tasty food. 3 stars is "A-OK," and that's exactly our experience. Our expectations were met exactly by efficient staff and flavorful food. The cost was no higher or lower than expectation. This is likely why Taj Mahal is still my first suggestion for Indian food in Albuquerque. They provide a reliable experience, always meet expectation, and have changed very little since my long ago first visit.

Really really bad food. Only 10 items in the buffet, none edible. It speaks a lot about the quality of a restaurant where popcorn shirmp is served in an indian lunch buffet. The owners(s) work as cooks and hosts and waiters, which is bizarre. Never seen that in any indian restaurant. Above all it is NOT an indian restaurant, none of the food item tasted indian to me. I would suggest try Farr's buffet if you want value for your bucks.

Great first time experience! We weren't quite sure what to order and our waiter took his time explaining the menu and offering great first time traditional choices. We had the pleasure to taste three different entrees, with naan and basmati rice. So delicious! If you've never tried Indian food, I highly recommend trying this restaurant. Such nice people, and the ice cream was to die for!

This is one of my favorite restaurants! I’m not too adventurous with the food and love to just get their Buttered Chicken, rice, and garlic naan. I usually will share 1 serving of the naan, rice, and buttered chicken with another person. They do pickup orders which is nice! Also, their staff is very friendly and helpful!

We have been going to Taj Mahal for 2 years. Consistently the best Indian food I've ever had, which is saying a lot considering I've lived in major metropolitan areas with lots of options for Indian cuisine. The service is also amazing. This place has been an Albuquerque steady for years! The food remains consistently delicious and the service is always amazing! Eating Indian food is almost a spiritual experience to me. They plethora of flavors and aromas are sometimes overwhelming. If you come for the lunch buffet or dinner you'll be satiated and the napkin won't be enough to wipe the smile off your face.

I have been on a quest to find the spiciest dish possible for most of my life. Many restaurants that have advertised extra spicy dishes have only disappointed me, and many restaurants still have "gone easy on me" despite my insistence that they absolutely demolish my face with the spiciest food they can muster. As for this glorious establishment called Taj Mahal, I can give no higher praise. I ordered their spiciest curry with the most serious expression I could give, and they DELIVERED. My whole head was sweating, and I don't think my sinuses have ever been more immaculately clean. This is medicine in it's finest form, and I recommend their delicious food to anyone who wants a REAL dining experience. My quest has finally come to a close, and I am at peace.

Indian food is a new to my palate. I am amazed at the flavor and combinations of veggies and meat. The Taj Mahal was patient with my order hesitance and explained what I was ordering. Our waiter was attentive and patience and explained everything thoroughly. If you have not stopped by to try their amazing cuisine, you should definitely make the time!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Bad ambiance, worst food ever had. I ordered mango lassi which tastes like its 3 days old and with added food colors. Yellow lentil dal - I don't know how anyone doesn't know how to cook dal. Their dal doesn't tastes like dal and seems some kind of pickle or sambhar masala was added. Restaurant building is too old and interior is some kind of old haunted house with spider webs. Lastly, all servers were with long hair and were looking really weird and untidy.

This is one of my favorite places to go eat Indian food. The layout of the place is a little bit unusual, but the food always tastes fantastic! If you don't know much about Indian food, it is a little bit difficult to order. I don't feel the menu is ordering friendy if you don't know what you want. I just wish the menu had pictures of the plates offered. I would certainly be more comfortable trying different things!

Standing food and service. The owners are friendly and will often come to your table and greet you no. The chicken tikka masala was among the best I have ever tasted and the portions are generous. Parking is ample and the interior is spacious and beautiful.

Oh god, so delicious. Seriously. Simply the best samosas I've ever had (including Denver or Seattle). The Jalfriezi is spiced to perfection, the tamarind sauce is addictive, the garlic naan was so light and fluffy.... Everything was absolutely wonderful. I'll definitely be back. I'd have taken pictures but I was too busy eating.

Food was good and the service was embarrassingly attentive. The check was a touch less than $30 per person including a big bottle of flying house beer. Everyone's meal was entirely vegetarian and we all left with one lunch of leftovers.

The place has a feel like you're over at a friend's house having dinner. The food was very good and had a nice flavor, but no real spice to it. I understand that you need to try to cater to a wider variety of customers when you're serving a buffet so maybe I'll order off the menu next time. Also our son was being very difficult and wouldn't try anything, they took time to go up to the buffet with my wife and help her pick out something he might like.The servers were very nice but slow getting the check out to us, they also didn't charge us for our son since he ate almost nothing. I would definitely visit again.

We are traveling from Tucson Arizona and wanted good Indian food. Reviews were great so we decided to check Taj Mahal out. We came in 30 mins before closing (wasn't on purpose, we were delayed for to a bad accident on I 25) and they were kind enough to still allow us to order take out. Shyna (sp?) Is soooooo friendly. She talked to us about our travels, things to do in Albuquerque, the story of the restraunt, and so much more. This kind of hospitality is what brings people back and makes them feel right at home. We haven't even tried the food yet but I already know it will be amazing.

Upon a friend’s friend’s recommendation about how great the food was there, I had buffet there and it turned out to be kind of disappointing. Reasons as follows: 1. Lunch buffet is not impressive and limited choices but kind of expensive. Take garlic naan from Taj as example, it is a basic Indian cooking but its taste didn’t live up to the normal standard. 2. Staff seem to be friendly and attentive but they need to pay more to appearance. Several waiters wore old white shirts with worn out collars, which may not give customers good impression at all; the hostess was nice to say to every customer but I could not positively comment on her dressing and hair. With all this said, I mean no offense to the staff but the management of the restaurant shall be improved.

They had the nerve to follow us outside and question why we didnt tip during the buffet lunch!!! Completely uncalled for and distasteful!!! The same waiter for the second time treated us very rudely and impolite not once did he refill our drinks or checked on us. My favorite Indian food lunch buffet here in Albuquerque. We make it a point to go meet at least once a month with our friends. They have all the great stuff you'd expect at a Indian food buffet and they do a great job at all of it. It's typically bustling and busy at lunch, but with several dining areas and attentive polite staff that are constantly on top of everything, it's always a pleasurable experience.

Went with the family and friends for their buffet lunch service. I'm not a big fan of buffets, but this was pretty decent with lots of options for everyone. There was even several vegetarian options there. Most places just have one or two veggie options but this place had a lot. My only critique would be the food needed more spice/seasoning. It's hard to do that with buffets and that's why I rather order off the menu when I can. The staff was great as well. Kept checking on us and clearing plates when they started stacking up to much. I would recommend this place to people...but I myself would like to try ordering off the menu and see what else they have that's not on the buffet line.

This is one of our favorite restaurants in town, and definitely our favorite Indian spot. The staff are friendly, fast, and professional. The food is FANTASTIC, with good portions. Sometimes the place gets a little busy and crowded, which is not great, but it speaks to the excellent quality of this restaurant. I highly recommend.
