Excellent service by Wanda She handled the entire place it seemed and mastered it. Ordered taco salad Chips and salsa Perfect in this moment Ready to hit the road and keep driving to my destination Thanks Wanda It’s time for your raise
Historical but the steak was overcooked and smaller than expected. Mexican dishes looked better. Generous 3 stars because I only tried the steak
Food is good, but not truly authentic. As amother reviewer noted, the chips seem to be out of a bag, and there is also a 3 drink (alcohol) maximum per customer. However, the cafe is very family friendly.
I'm going with 3 instead of 4 stars. Salsa was very good. Chips felt like they came out of a bag. The food was pretty good. If there was a 3.5 stars I'd give it that. Service was fair at best.
Terrible we went in got setted the waitress went outside danesing on a rock with to others vetioing her. The prices where way to high we left an went to the Silver Moon it was great.
Nice little town. Nice food and great service
2 years ago today. It was in that day, at the end of the first leg of my road trip from Phoenix back to Nashville that I pulled of the road to find a bed for the night. I decided to grab a bite to eat, and, if by God’s grace or pure coincidence, accidentally stumbled into the best burger I’ve ever had. If you’ve ever seen the HIMYM episode about the best burger in New York, and you hear Marshal describing it, it’s pretty much that. That’s not even to mentions the fries, which were a treat in and of themselves. One day I will return. (That being said I was really hungry and this was like 2 years ago so take it with a grain of salt)
Was ok. But I've had much better.
Delightful family restaurant great for New Mexico style food. With that said we got there at breakfast time and had hot cakes, eggs and sausage. Though not unique, it was tasty none the less .
Oh my it was delicious and the portions are big. Love it !! will stop everytime we come through here !!!
Waitress seemed bothered by our questions about the menu, she would leave before we could finish asking about certain items. Food was barely edible. I had the Chicken Chingon tacos and the chicken was undercooked. Beans were just ok. Boyfriend got Carne adobado and said it was dry, bland, and flavorless. Posole was super spicy even to my Mexican boyfriend. Overpriced for what we got as well.
Seriously the BEST Mexican Restaurant we've EVER been to. The food was AMAZING! We are from NY and we tried about 10 or so Mexican places along our trip to AZ and back and nothing compared to the food and service here! If I ever make it back to Santa Rosa - this is a must stop.
Long wait despite available tables. Cursing could be heard from the servers. Pooorly crafted meals ( not mentioning the order that came out wrong 30 minutes after everyone else got their food). Ridiculous house rule of not serving alcohol despite having a valid ID (which of course displayed my birth year well over the legal age). 0/10 would not eat here again!
The host was extremely rude. Not only to me, but every guest who went in after. Didn't look up once and acknowledge anyone. Acted extremely put out when people asked how long the wait was or if they could get their name on the list. There were several tables big enough to seat a party of 4. Instead he sat 2 parties who had come in at least 5 minutes after my family. After waiting 20 minutes to be sat, and then having to 2 tables sat before us, who arrived after we had, we finally left. Maybe in the distant future I will give this place another chance, but it won't be any time soon. A host should be a reflection of your restaurant, first and last person you see when dining out. I hope he's not an indication of how the rest of the staff is.
Food was so so. The worse thing is the young guy greeting us at the door. No smile at all with anyone he sat. He just threw the menus on the table and kept walking. We had a service dog and he gave me an eye roll and a hard no when I asked for a bigger booth for our party of four plus the service dog. Everyone else was nice and pleasant but he should not be the first impression for customers.
Very good gem of a place. American and Mexican choices. Tons of choices in appetizers. Decent wine and beer selection! Give it a try !!
Great variety of food and great wait staff. The gift shop had all kinds of neat stuff.
Good food, good price, friendly staff.
We had the best chicken quesadilla ever! We travel all over the world and this little gem is worth visiting. The hotel clerk recommended it and we were very glad that we tried it out. When passing through, stop in!
It was a great experience all the way around. Our waitress was very kind and attentive. And the food was delicious!! We were traveling as a family and there was 7 of us, food came out in a very reasonable amount of time. Cute gift shop. Some really cool stuff in there also. I would definitely give the thumbs up
Where to begin. At the Silver Moon Cafe you will find awful management (if there is any), a single host during a lunch rush on a Saturday, the single server, a strange young man who walks around and seems like his only job is to stare at you and your family for the duration of your meal. In a word I would describe my experience as a Sh*t-show," given the 30 minute wait during which time 6 open tables were ready. The food is frozen and very little (if any) is made in house. The only reason I know this is because the waiter willingly told us. I would like to warn any who think of coming to this establishment to not. Where as once upon a time this restaurant may have been considered as such, it is now a shell of an establishment and should be ashamed to say they serve "Mexican/Latina Cuisine."
Very good food, lots of choice, fast service, easy on and off.
Grear place to eat and get some suveniors on a quick night rest stop.
Food was okay, service could have been a lot better. Nice gift shop.
Delicious food. Best green Chile pork stew.
This historical place is a restaurant and a gift shop... If you are passing by the city is a good place to make a quick stop. The food was delicious and service was good.
Fantastic food and service.
Great Food and service.
The absolute best Mexican Food ever. If your ever near Silver Moon Cafe stop in. It's worth it.
The food was good. They warned us the green chile was spicy but neither the green or red had any heat, therefore I am giving it 3 stars.
We just popped in for a late afternoon cocktail and snack. We ordered margaritas and boneless chicken wings - both were fake. The "margaritas" were made without tequila, but that fact was never mentioned. The "chicken wings" were frozen, heavily breaded, white-meat nuggets with buffalo sauce. Again - no mention that it was not the real thing. There are other places in town, so my recommendation is to keep moving.
Great New Mexican Cafe. Ordered combo, pork tamale, chicken enchilada, Chile Relleno. Great & Spicy. Cant wait to return. Also good service, & friendly staff. Nice gift shop. Very fair prices
Good food, reasonable prices. They have both Mexican (enchiladas, tacos, fajitas) and American foods (burgers).
Fair prices. Quality food. Try the Giant Lunch Burrito. Be polite to the servers as they deal with diverse travelers from the I-40. The restaurant is small town NM. Check your ego at the door. I hope you enjoy the food as much as I have.
We arrived an hour and a half BEFORE closing, and one order of our group was forgotten and only entered AFTER closing. We would have asked about it earlier but the rest of the food took about that long to come out in the first place. And when that last order finally did arrive, it was not the correct order. All the food was between “okay” and “mediocre,” and they have a policy of not serving alcohol to any customer with a vertical ID, despite the age (my brother just turned 22, [1997], just has not changed his license yet). Margaritas were weak and watery, beans and taco meat smelled like dog food and probably tasted little better. Servers were rude and uninterested, and hygiene was lacking. No Tip!
Waited 45 minutes for a table. Another hour after ordering. Over cooked steak small potato. Not what I had expected. Not great quality of food and overpriced. Might have been a great restaurant once, days long since past. Would not recommend this place.
Excellent customer service. Clean bathrooms. To go orders are possible. We stayed to eat with our little ones. Kids didn't care much for the food. Margaritas are made of wine instead of tequila which is interesting. Tastes a bit like generic sour mix poured with a sweet white wine. Get the salt rim for a more convincing drink. Fajitas were not bad and enough to share. For a quick stop on I 40 it was good enough!
I can't believe I have driven by here for 30 years and never made the opportunity to stop in. Wow! Have I been missing out! Fabulous food, the atmosphere was amazing, the service was on believable. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. My waitress was that good. Such an amazing lady. She took me back in time it seemed, to the real days of trucking when the restaurants were all about quality & customer service. Lots of big truck parking in the back too. When I roll through Santa Rosa now, y'all can find me hanging out here. Just look for my big silver Volvo & ask for "Everywhere".
We spent the night in Santa Rosa and had dinner at the Silver Moon cafe. My wife and I both had taco salad it was very good. That will be our restaurant when we stopped at Santa Rosa
Great place to eat weather u want mexican food or American food an not to pricie either
Great people and great food Stop by and see Mr. Jay, he will treat you right.
I did enjoy my visit until I found out they have a 3drink limit...had chicken enchiladas ok not great very dry inside and very little sauce and cheese on the outside, just dry chicken nothing else on the inside... beans and Fried hominy was great... chips and salsa okay I'll be back
Great New Mexican food! Great chips and salsa! Service was delightful as well
Great place, I stop by every time I drive through town.
Cold nachos and NASTY spaghetti. Worse than canned sauce. Way over cooked noodles. Inedible, ended up sharing spouses cold nachos. Won't eat here again.
Maaaaaannnnnn! I don't blast restaurants, but this establishment was able to mess it up entirely. Slow service, to the point that I wanted to walk out. The food came out, and it was old, and dry with a crust over the beans. Be prepared to be disappointed if you show up today. I'll give them another shot, but today was a flop.
Great fish and chips, great service and try the Roswell Alien Ale.
Really good food and plenty of truck parking. Prices are very reasonable. Stop here every time I am in the area.
Great service but most of food is prepped from frozen it seems.
Very good enchiladas, place was very busy. Service was good.
6 people at our table. 5 tables 2 waitresses and 3 cooks took an hr to get our food. Ordered a T-bone med rare came out ice cold. Green bean side felt like it came out of the fridge. Salmon was ordered came out warm and dry like it sat for that entire hr. Food that was warm 1/2 were tasted good but I was hungry followed I kind. The others (wasnt worth the wait) wont be back. On a positive the beer was cold. Was just informed not much of the food is fresh they microwave most of it. The expensive Margarita had no tequila it was just the mix no alcohol. ONE STAR IS TO MANY.
Horrible host. Failed to properly seat a table. 20+ minute wait. Watched as tables were seated. Ended up splitting the party. Kitchen and waiter short staffed. Food never arrived properly. Wrong. Waiter intentionally wrote down the wrong order. Served it intentionally wrong. Horribly wrong. Go elsewhere.
Food was excellent, service was great, server super polite. Place super clean, If I lived here I would eat there at least 4 times a week. Highly Recommended
Extremely friendly staff. We had Fajitas but they didnt have rice or even cheese queso. Margaritas were good.
Terrific Mexican food. Especially the green chili, cheese enchiladas and fajita chicken. And try the posole!
to be clear, this place is New Mexican. not Mexican. similar but different. Christmas year round. Very accommodating to being quick and getting you back on the road if thats what you're looking for. plenty of parking for trucks. no horchata.
Wait was long and I didn’t like the food. Seemed like one person was serving the whole restaurant. Didn’t get any refills. Not real Mexican food. Only has two sides. Husbands food tasted like Alfredo sauce came out a can. Just disappointed overall.
Great little gem & coffee was amazing, the food was of great quality, very fresh and tasty and the portions for the price were unbeatable (huge portions), definitely coming back, highly recommended.
Good place for break and eat. Food was good
I was so disappointed in the service we received and the attitude from the hostess, when told about the service. I WOULD NEVER GO BACK. First off the tacos I ordered had spoiled hamburger meat in them and were sent back. After that it was like our table didn't exist. The waiter walked by our table countless times without offering to refill our drinks. I only got his attention by doing it myself. We ordered extra tortilla's that took 13 minutes to receive. WHEN the hostess asked "how was your meal?" I started telling her the above and her response was "I doing know what to tell, he's one of my better servers" with a smirk on her face and an attitude in her voice. I pray she owns the place and can afford to insult paying customers. That's the last dollar of mine they will see.
Excellent food. Fried tacos are as good as it gets. Great service. Cute little gift shop attached.
Whenever I arrive on the scene in a new place I both check Yelp and talk to locals to see how the information meshes (if at all). Help skews towards the hipster and often is more impressed with decor and other shallow things, while locals tend to slew towards the actual food. In this situation, I was torn, the Silver Moon Cafe was cool to visit as a historical landmark and the service and food was adequate. Nothing was bad or negative, but nothing was exceptional. Also, the locals who were dining didn't seem to have a taste for out-of-towners, but the staff did an excellent job and was really the highlight of this visit.
Very busy at night.. small place with a gift shop . Good food but the guacamole taste like under ripe avocados .
Great food and service. This is a fun, family owned restaurant with a little souvenir shop. The decor was great. We would definitely recommend this as a meal stop.
Great food, great service. Staff was very friendly. Will definitely eat here again.
Fun restaurant that we could walk to from hotel. Fish and chips were crispy and yummy. Fajitas were generous with tender beef. Waitress/ staff very friendly. Fun historic stop with gift shop for last minute souvenirs.
Great little cafe, menu covers Mexican and American food. Fresh homemade chips and salsa. Chips came to my table warm... yummy. Food was delicious and very filling, in fact so filling there was no room for their delicious looking deserts. Staff was friendly. They also have an area where you can buy gifts.
We enjoyed every bite. We had the honey ginger Brussels sprouts for an appetizer. He had a sandwich. I had the green chili pork stew. The cheesecake Espanol was amazing. Service was polite but slow.
Walked in the same time as a bus tour, had tea in 3 minutes and our food in less then 15. Great service! Food was wonderful had the blue corn enchiladas and the Chile Rellenos. Cheesecake Espanol WOW
Delicious! And the posole was cooked perfectly. We had steak and shrimp fajitas, and the special blue corn chicken enchiladas. Enchiladas served with beans and posole. Fajitas served with fresh guacamole, sour cream and warm flour tortillas. I asked for extra cheese on the side. Meal started with complimentary warm and fresh crispy tortillas and salsa. We inhaled them. It was a busy Monday night there, and server was lovely. Obviously had many tables to take care of at the same time, and had a smile for every customer. I would definitely go back! Overhead that they also serve breakfast.
Had the trio fajitas. The chicken and shrimp was good, but the beef did not taste like beef. It tasted like tainted lamb. The guacamole was also brown and old. The cheesecake espanol however was to die for. From my one experience it seems they may cut corners, but when the food is fresh, it’s good.
Was lied to about vacancy until the person at the desk realized i had children. Great price, dirty crooked service.
Just being in this vicinity made me feel like I needed to take a boiling hot shower to get all the germs off me. A man walked out of the bathroom with his pants not zipped up and still putting on his belt. There are wires hanging from the ceiling. The employees do not care at all and I'm pretty sure it hasn't been cleaned since it opened. If I get an incurable disease from this place, I would not be surprised.
Good food. Lots of choices
The food is wonderful and authentic. Plus they have great gifts for very responsibly priced.
After a long day on mountain roads we had 2 different people recommend Silver Moon. Nothing fancy but Great food. Great service. Will definitely be back!
Great New Mexican food and friendly staff.
Not good service. Didn't get what I ordered. Hard to flag down the server. Towards the end I was just "forget it" let's eat what we have and get outta here. Probably would get better service if I wore a MAGA hat.
