If you are passing through Raton or close, The Oasis Restaurant is a must stop! Don't forget to get the Pie. It's just like the Pie your Grandma makes or made. ♥️

We found this little gem when we passed through Raton. The food was fabulous homestyle comort fare. We had tomato soup with our meal and it was the best tomato soup I have ever eaten. Service was fantastic, attentive without being overbearing . Would definitely visit again.

Another business in town referred The Oasis to us as "the best" in town so we figured why not. It looked rather dumpy BUT "the best" so again we figured why not. We should have asked ourselves "why not run far away?" , because it was horrible! Our group ordered a couple burgers, liver, roast beef, chicken swiss sandwich, etc. The burgers were dry, the buns soggy, frys undercooked. I would NEVER return here again.

Perhaps my experience differs from others but the overall experience was lacking. It took us considerably longer to get our food. Several locals and groups of 6 were served before us though they ordered after. The food quality in no way reflected the increased time taken. Standard fare, nothing special or unique. All flavor heavy on the salt. Lastly the overall service was lacking- including when the waitress almost didn’t give us our ticket. Some of these would be excusable if the restaurant was packed and/or had great food.

Stayed the night. Was a great place. Old school feel but clean. The service was amazing. Could use some updates but might pull from that old town feel. We ate at the restaurant at the motel and it was good. Cafe style food, friendly wait staff, nothing to special though. Over all, we will be back if we come through again.

Our breakfast stop on our way out of town after a week at the Whittington Center. I had the special Breakfast Stuffed Sopaipilla. A great choice if you can go take a post breakfast nap, it was huge! They are not stingy with the green chili sauce either. We will be back next year but more careful to order the lighter and more road worth dishes.

Best hot roast beef sandwich I've had in many many years. This is an old-fashioned Diner with a menu to match. The view of Raton Pass is spectacular. Update!!!!! Had the Enchiladas that every good New Mexico dinner should have an the menu. The were very good and the red sauce was even better.

I had heard that this place had been around for many, MANY years. For a restaurant to last that long & the parking lot was as full as it was at 2PM in the afternoon, I figured they must be good. I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED! Not only was the staff incredibly warm & friendly from the moment I walked in the door (they treated me as if I had been a regular for years!), but the food was awesome as well (I highly recommend the Chicken Fried Steak! YUM!). I WILL DEFINITELY be going back...OFTEN!!

8-2019 Disclaimer: our waiter was new and they were short handed in the kitchen. I think on another visit the stars would be higher. They were super friendly. We went to this restaurant after two separate people suggested it while we were filling up at a nearby gas station. One said the smothered burrito was his favorite. That is why we expected a Mexican restaurant but it is more of a cafe or home cooking place. The locals were loving all of it. We are from For Worth Tx and the dishes were just not what we were expecting. When they say red chili sauce they mean it. It was red chili. On the other hand the green chili sauce was not green or spicy. Also surprising was the fact the chips and salsa were fresh. The cook cut up and fry them, right then! Fresh! The Sopaillas are also made fresh.

I got eaten alive in the bed. Door handle was jacked up and we almost got trapped in the room. Water pressure was nice and super hot, and aside from whatever bug was there, the bed was pretty comfy

I only have two gripes, i came at 11am, the menu didnt have breakfast but after i ordered a sandwich, all these people were getting pancakes and stuff. I guess you have to be a local to get breakfast. The food was well-made with large portions, but they put miracle whip on the sandwiches which is something they should mention. What a great spot! Service is perfect, food is authentic and fresh - I ate sooo much (oops) Great spot for local, unique food. This is NOT a spot for fussy people who need a lot of substitutions (of course they are helpful for those with allergies) but a great ‘only in Raton’ place for wonderful food.

While the service was friendly and the atmosphere was what we expected after reading reviews, the food was horrible. My “green” enchiladas had a “brown” sauce on them. The tortillas were old and hard on the edges, and the cheese inside was cold and unmelted. The beans had a burnt flavor. Two bites in I had to stop eating. When the waitress asked if I wanted a To Go box I had to chuckle. I politely responded by saying, “no, the food was terrible.” Her only response was to mutter the word “okay.” My husband ordered chicken strips which were marginal at best. His salad consisted of a hand full of white bitter lettuce with a blob of dressing on top. The corn was canned and old/shriveled up. The baked potato was served without butter/sour cream/cheese or any offering of any type of condiment. I truly can’t imagine the 4 and 5 star ratings this restaurant has received! Sadly, we were Very disappointed! It was a “1and done” for us.

I stayed at the oasis for a couple of days from June 30th to July 7th and had a wonderful time while there. The restaurant staff and food were awesome. The food was delicious. I've never experienced New Mexico food and let me tell you, every single time I ate at the restaurant, it didn't disappoint. I've been reading reviews to see all the positive reviews and to see if everyone else had a wonderful experience as my family and I did. I have quite a few things to say. A gentleman stated he heard fireworks, well it was July 4th, I can assure you that it's possible the entire city were popping fireworks. I didn't hear any close to the hotel but if I had, I love America and that's what happens on july 4th. The same gentleman stated that housekeeping walked into his room at 8:30 if that was p.m I don't think that's true because the restaurant closes at 9 and I walked in and needed an extra towel and I was told housekeeping leaves early in the afternoon and leaves the keys in the restaurant. The worker did go and get me a few extra towels. So thank you if you are reading this. Someone stated that his refrigerator/freezer over froze and ruined all his food. If you had a full size refrigerator please let me know the room # so that I can request that room. All other rooms come with a little convenient fridge with a tiny freezer like in mine and my kid's room. Maybe you tried shoving food in there that didn't fit and it didn't cool your food. I find it funny that when someone wants to complain, it's a whole bunch of different things and not just one particular thing. I would have brought it to the managers attention right away to give them a chance to fix what you pay for. Not wait, leave and then complain. It defeats your argument. It's also funny that the rooms I had checked out were both clean, well stocked with shampoo conditioner lotion towels and really clean. The rooms also smelled really good. I was happy there and we will be back. If the air conditioner had a funny smell, well this is a hotel that has been around probably before I was born. My advice, find a brand spanking new hotel to sniff the delicious air conditioner. I agree with all the other reviews that said the restaurant was delicious. It's a lovely place.

Arrived just after lunch. Told to seat ourselves which we did. We chose a table right by the kitchen that all staff passes as they go in and out. Sat for five minutes before waitress dropped of 2 menus as she passed by. 2 local couples got seated and waited on during this time as they were greeted by staff when they arrived. Waited another 10 minutes with no one stopping so we got up and left. Again no one said a word. We are a normal middle class couple. It appears they favor locals over travelers. We we wont be back.

Busy little place, lots of friendly charter amongst the locals and the staff. Took thirty minutes to get our food, Tacos, and, by the time we got it, it was cold. Waitress never said anything about food delay or for that matter come by our table to refill our water glasses. We went there because of the reviews and passing through on our way home. Disappointed! ☹ We did not eat the food.

If there could be 0 stars, that's what we would choose. Chef Salad was rusty iceberg lettuce instead of "fresh greens" as noted, plus a hard boiled egg, a little shredded cheese, 2 slices of tomato, and a little ham and roast beef. My husband got the chicken fried steak, which came with mashed potatoes, but brown gravy. Was so bad he sent it back. Said no flavor to the meat, could just taste grease. Told the waitress probably the worst he's ever had. Thankfully they removed it from our bill. The waitress was very kind.

I was tossed between rating it a two or three.. First lots of flies in our area... should have left then, but we stayed. Ordered appetizers - jalapeno poppers cheese on the middle was cold. When we asked for another drink cause it didn't taste right waitress made a face.. lunch food we ordered was good - no complaints.. then went to pay and I noticed I was double charge for a drink.. and waitress at the counter made a HUGE fuss over it.. I was going to say whatever but then it was a matter of principle.. she DID end up taking it off.

Booked reservation via the telephone and was quoted a rate of $70.00 per night (single occupancy) for 4 nights. Unfortunately I did not get the persons name when I gave my credit card. Upon arrival, was charged $89.00 per night! I mentioned the rate I was quoted, however as I did not get the persons name - I was charged the $89.00 night rate. Uoon entering the room, noticed the micowave did not work - which was later replaced. Bathroom sink did not drain properly and the air conditioner had a strange odor. The outside door knob was loose and difficult to open with the key, causing security concern. Overall it is marginal and totally not worth $89.00 per night for a single adult.

Fantastically delicious, quick and yummy breakfast, lunch and dinner with a New Mexico twist, their Red and Green Chili dishes can hold their own with the best of 'em. Servers were some of the best we've seen (even when REALLY busy too) and special thanks to Jimmy for his attentive coffee and water provisioning! You won't regret stopping here to chow down and perhaps we'll see you here too because we're definitely planning to be back real soon!

NOT AN OASIS, MORE LIKE A MIRAGE. One star only because no stars isnt an option. This place was recently aquired and not for the better. The restruant was terrible, service sucked, 30 minutes before they took our drink order. The service was worse in the rooms. house keeping came in at 830 pm, didnt leave any toilet paper, the air conditioner was so loud that we turned ot off and opened the windows. The owners lit off firework behond ourt room and filled it with smoke... at 11 pm. the fridge was so dirty i had to clean it before putting anything in it, the freezer door was broken and froze all of our food, ruined it. I told the front desk about all of this, they didnt make any effort or offer to do anything about any of it. This place will be the next dead business in Raton

Talk about a TON of good homemade food! Excellent service, darling pleasant people, and huge amounts of food. The meal came with soup and salad, and a roll. Besides the entree with 2 sides. Stuff you full! This tiny town has a true home owned gem. It was clean and even during the dinner rush, the coffee and water were kept full.

The food was absolutely amazing! It's a nice small place with the mom and pop feel. I had the chicken fried steak dinner with brown gravy. It tasted like grandmas home cooking. The facility has been in place for a long time so it is a tad outdated. However, most places that sit off the side of the road tend to be that way. It is definitely worth going to. I highly recommend it.

Wanted to see what I had been missing... I had been craving for New Mexico Green Chilie at the Oasis Restaurant. We were served a breakfast burrito with green chilie for breakfast and did not disappoint just left me craving for more so we decided to eat lunch the next day and the wonderful staff recommended the Stacker with Green Chilie and again it did not disappoint... When it comes to quality food, quick professional service and meeting local people of Raton The Oasis Restaurant is the place for you and your family... Looking forward to visiting again... After driving all night we couldn’t find a hotel with a open room. Thankfully found this little gem. Initially I was worried about the rooms because it is an older style hotel but I was pleasantly surprised. The room is huge and has everything you need and more. Super clean and reminds me of staying at a friends grandmas house. Or even better something you would see the Supernatural boys staying at in the show. The restaurant being right here helps to since we didn’t want to be back in the car for food. I would definitely stay here again when we pass through.

A greasy spoon that serves a great burger and even better service. It looks a little sketchy attached to the motel, but it's an awesome little cafe with a friendly hometown atmosphere. Some of the food was probably from frozen (chicken strips) and they were out of pie but overall a good experience.

The service was very fast and friendly. The food was ok. I got the enchiladas which definitely didn't have the flavor I'd hoped for, but the green chili sauce was tasty and unique, more like a green chili and pork stew. The beans were unseasoned. The prices were reasonable.

Just want let you all know this place is great the food we had was pretty good. I I had the stuffed soapilla, and my husband had the enchiladas they were both good. Service was excellent and staff was attentive. The only constructive critique I would offer is their tomato rice soup needed more flavor and I would cook the rice separate from the soup and add it just before you serve each portion. Other than that it was very good.

Hamburger Steak dinner a real good choice, ask for onions service was perfect not over bearing dinner with my family, or by yourself they will treat you good! PS this is homestyle cooking, so don't go and expect anything fancy! This is where the locals go!

Very good service, food well cooked, very tasty chopped steak and real mashed potatoes. Issues - Dull looking, almost sour tasting peas. And, the salad. Don't bother. Slightly wilted lettuce, two bits of a carrot, 4 bits of cabbage. We also were not offered dessert, but saw some amazing looking pies on our way out.
