Wife and I went last week to try the place out and we were not disappointed! Service was fantastic from the hostess to the wait staff (big shout out to Sergio). Food was delicious and we didn't wait long at all! We both had the TAMPIQUEÑA STEAK which was cooked to perfection! I had the grilled asparagus and she had the gratin potato... Scrumptious! I'm not a huge "food reviewer" but the whole experience made me want to write SOMETHING! Our compliments to the chef! Our compliments to front of house! Our compliments to the Manager, Nicholas!

The worst service I have ever received. The waitress was rolling her eyes all night when a quest would ask for something. Not very professional at all. The manager did nothing about it. Horrible customer service!

One of my happiest experiences out with my 19 year olds. My steak lover was had met her match. Incredible mac and cheese with a cheese pull that can't be missed. Salmon salad was fresh, crispy and grilled to perfection. We were all blown away with the mixed drink that had dry ice in it. The girls loved the smoke that came off the drink. The price was kinda spendy...but the memory of enjoying my kids without incident is another blessing I'm thankful to Jesus for.

Wow, where do I start? First of all, it took a very long time for anyone to even acknowledge us and take our drink order. When th hat finally happened it took quite awhile for them to arrive. Then another 10 minutes for our actual server to appear. Second, I can't believe their beef is graded choice... I like my steak rare to medium rare, generally at that temp. steak is not tough. I honestly believe this was the toughest piece of meat I have ever been served in my 55 years on this earth. Lack of flavor? 5 stars for that! The only redeeming factor is that the sides were good. Loaded potato (while not really loaded) was good, beans had a nice kick, coleslaw was sweet with a hint of pineapple. Beer was ice cold. So, sides earned 1 star, everything else Zero stars. Rename it; Great American Side Company. Sorry, I really wanted a good steak dinner after being on the road for a few days.

The waitress literally took 15 minutes just to take our drinks, she check up only about 3 or 4 times and when we got our food it was actually cold. Bad customer service bad food avoid this place. Also the place looks too dark i couldnt read the menu.There is no pride in the place I will never be going back.

We went for lunch. There were two of us in our party. The interior was very cold, and dark. We asked them to please turn on the heat, as my friend was sitting under a vent blowing COLD air. It did not get any warmer during our meal. The lobby was nice and toasty when we left, but not the dining room. My friend had the burger and fries. I had a Chicken Great American salad - not as described. The chicken was dry, and kind of hard. The salad was supposed to have spring greens but was all spinach. The dressing was on the bottom. My friends burger was warm, not hot. The fries were a joke. They came out cold, not once but twice and gave up after that. Told our mostly MIA waitress who offered to get new ones but we were already done eating. Service was lacking. The refired fries were received by asking a waiter who was entering an order ( less than 2 feet from the table). I picked up the check and headed to the lobby to warm up and pay, but was rudely told by some woman, I think was part of management that I needed to return to the table to pay. Do I told my friend to wait in the warm lobby, I returned to the table. This time the waitress was prompt in giving me my check, and taking payment. My friend who has been here with her family over the years kept apologizing and saying "this place has really changed". We ended up going for coffee and dessert at Denny's. Today December 21st; me friend called and she has cold and laryngitis!

The service was good and the food was decent. I'm from Florida and was excited to have some Texas food. The baked beans here are Texas baked beans, resembling the flavor of chili. The steak was a great size and ALMOST cooked medium rare. The coleslaw and baked beans came with the meal, served too the entire table. There was only one IPA brand of beer, according to our server. The atmosphere was great. I loved the decorations and artwork on display.

Pretty disappointing. My rib eye, cooked medium, was really dry. For $26.99, I expect a juicy rib eye. My loaded potato was ashy...... that's right, ashy. It had been sitting around so long that the shredded cheese was hard, and powdery. It had to be sent back. The bowl of beans was almost all water. We couldn't scrape a serving together between the two of us at the table. It had to be sent back. The only saving grace tonight was the very sweet server who was terribly embarrassed by what was coming from the kitchen. We've been coming to Great American for years, but I can't imagine going back after tonight.

Many years I have taken customers the this restaurant for a 5 Star meal however the last 3 visits were embarrassing to say the least. Steaks were tough, sides were tasteless and the waiters were too busy visiting and checking their cells to provide the customer service of a top class steak house. Did not want to pass judgement without letting management know. Twice I called and spoke with management and was informed they would get back to me and never did. Sad this once great place to eat is no more than a low 3 Star restaurant.

We went for dinner on a Saturday evening, and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. A group of "teachers" was loud and cursing, and the manager very kindly and professionally asked them to quiet down, and they got louder and belligerent and accusing them of kicking them out, and even claiming it was just racism. Even with all this, the staff members were very courteous and then went and apologized to each table for the other customers. I am sorry they have to put up with ugly people. They handle their beef well here! And their steak even better!!

Horrible food!!! Menu full of lies. Ask for the half a chicken and it wasn’t even a fourth. My mother asked for ribs and they were pure bone and burned. Grand-mom ask for a sirloin and it has anything but a sirloin. Ask to speak with the manager and he didn’t even care we were not please with the service. We came for my husband birthday and it completely disappoint. We were not even in rush hour the restaurant was pretty empty. Horrible service

Horrible place. I have never liked it but had to go with family. I ordered the shrimp scampi and it was cold and rubbery. My brother in law loves his steak rare and it was well done. He was so upset as he was looking forward to his steak all day. The kids mac and cheese was gross. Our waiter kept forgetting everything.

Arianna took excellent care of us. This was our second time eating there. Both have been good experiences, even though four years apart.

Not one to give any type of online reviews but after my experience with this establishment and its management, I had to...my only wish is that they allow me to put less than one star. 20 minute wait turned into an hour with several others waiting and complaining about the same thing I did...why was there a wait when several tables had been obviously available for 10 minutes or more at a time. When asked what the hold-up was, the Hostess, who might I add appeared high and was joking around with others and not doing her job, was extremely rude and when asked to speak to the Manager, was told that he didn't want to speak to me. Come to find out that the Manager actually DIDN"T want to speak to me which really stunned me. Told me to calm down when its his loud and rude employee who he needed to correct. Poor management fosters poor employees and boy did it show that evening. Ricardo, the supposed General Manager, had no class and no management skills whatsoever. Made the situation way worse than it should have. Me and my girlfriend left as I didn't want to drop a single penny of the money we were going to spend towards this establishment...especially after the embarrassing ordeal we were put through and without a single apology on Ricardo's or his employees behalf. Been going here with my family for years and never have I had a bad experience until now. I highly advise you reconsider your choice to eat here unless you want to put up with lengthy wait times, rude employees, and a very disrespectful manager named Ricardo.

The service was extremely slow and we get the opportunity to order more than one drink. When the water was brought out, for 2 people, we received only 1. When our food finally came out, the steak fries were still cold and partially frozen. The sirloin steak was so thin, I couldn't see how it was cooked. When I brought the cold fries to the attention of the manager, she offered no explanation, and to why they were uncooked....and said curtly, that she would exchange them. DO NOT EAT AT THIS RESTURANT, unless you expect to overpay for poor food, and poor service Even though we have eaten here at least 3 years in a row, we will NEVER eat here again.

Service was good and steaks were cooked right. Portions were good too. My only gripe is that the cigarette smoke from the bar area traveled through the whole restaurant. We asked to move but we're told that it will be the same wherever we sit. You would figure that if they allowed smoking indoors, they would have some type of ventilation system. Will go back but not with the kids.

Can I rate 0 stars? My family visited New Mexico excited to eat at one of our favorite places again. Things have really changed at Great American. For starters, the service was awful. The waitress couldn't fulfill even the simplest requests, like lemon in tea. Our other drinks sat on the bar until they were watered down. When she finally brought our bread to the table, she delivered 4 rolls for 6 people, and no appetizer plates. By then our drinks were empty but she didn't seem to notice. A steakhouse should know the difference between well done and medium rare. The food took so long, we didn't even bother sending the grossly overcooked steaks back. When my meal was delivered, I asked if I could get silverware. It was never delivered. Luckily there was some on a nearby table. There was not enough edible food to fill us up. We left and hit up Whataburger.

I have eaten here several times over the past years. On this visit the service was very courteous and prompt. The restaurant looks the same as it has for many years and it could benefit from some new touches. The food, however, is the big disappointment. The steak was a bit tough and the sides were well below what they used to be. The baked potato tasted reheated and the cole slaw was dry and tasteless (not enough dressing). We didn't get served any bread. As a dessert the cheesecake was dense and tasty and a nice way to end the dinner. I really wish I could say that it was still a restaurant that I would take out of town guests. But, unfortunately, I cannot.

The last time I was in El Paso I ate at this restaurant but it was called The Great American Land And Cattle Co. That was 30 years ago when I lived there. To this day I will tell you those were the best steaks I have ever had. The Great American Steakhouse was very good. It was awesome seeing the restaurant again and I am happy they kept the bulk of it the same. The food was very good and I would say this is better than any chain I've been to but I still cant put it up there with the original. Very close though, and I still highly recommend it over any of the chains.

My 2 year olds burgers were brought out still pink in the middle. But we were there for my father's birthday so I did not complain. But for the money I'd rather go to Cattlemans in Fabens.

The Decadence of The Great American Stakehouse ! I waited 1:45 minutes for a miracle to happen in the kitchen. The server entertained us with bread that comes in a bag. After several minutes the server pulled a Dr. Strange act by going in to another culinary dimension. My family began to wonder if we were in some sort of television program or even part of Culinary Infiniti War. We decided to go have a nice dinner at the Texas Roadhouse located at FT Bliss. Before we departed, however; a new rookie server appeared to try to save the day but sadly the damage was done. Finally the manager appeared demanding and explanation for our departure as if he was not aware of what was going on in his restaurant. We thank him and said to him that the servers can share the food that was not served yet amongst themselves. This is really a culinary disaster and a war of culinary attrition. Next thing you know the customer has to go cook the food and serve it him/her self in order to have a decent meal here.

Took my wife there for dinner friday night got the sausage appetizer and got nauseated after eating. Got my steak asked for medium well and got well done rubber steak food was not hot. It was my first time going and i didnt even eat the food my wife didnt eat her salad either i wasted $48 and i still tipped waitress after that and i got sick. I will never allow anyone i know to go and will encourage everyone else to not eat there just go somewhere else trust me.

One of my favorite restaurants in the whole COUNTRY!! The kitchen is pretty consistent with quality and the fried cheesecake desert is off the hook!!! Vanessa is a manager I've interacted with on several visits and she is great at hospitality and caring about customers. The owners should covet her as a valuable asset!!!

Not sure why the bad reviews. Place was pretty good. A little slow, but then again we were at the bar. Bone in rib eye was seasoned well and cooked just right. Try the grilled jalapenos with your meal, they are amazing and spicy!

Great place right off the interstate. Steak was tender and cooked perfectly. Shrimp was crispy on the outside and very tasty. The ranch beans had just the right amount of spice and the creamy pineapple coleslaw is absolutely wonderful. FYI - the beans and coleslaw are "all you can eat". Definitely worth the stop.

You pass this place on the highway - it's been there forever - you wonder how the food is. It's ok, it's not bad, but not remarkable. Ribs, steaks, burgers - it's a good place to celebrate a birthday, they're good at bringing the food out all at once, which seems to be a challenge. If there's a wait or if you looking for more basic service, you can dine in the bar area.

Regrettably the service my wife and I received was poor. I ordered a half rack of beef ribs and my wife the lobster. The ribs were cold and the meat very tough, my wife did like the lobster. The waitress was less than friendly and acted as if she were doing us a favor by serving our table. I will never return to this restaurant.

Food was amazing! Huge portions and excellent service. If your in the area or driving by, you need to stop. Our server was Robert and he was very attentive with a great sense of humor!! The fried shrimp are delicious and the meals come with beans and slaw.

I’ve been to this place a hand full of times. Every time I come hopeful that the service and quality will be atleast ok. NOT will never come again and will NOT ever recommend this establishment. The service is terrible and the food is even worse. There is plenty of other steakhouses that offer a better service and BETTER QUALITY. The steaks are not cooked accoridntly and for the price I don’t think so. I’m not understanding the reviews left but my experience has never been pleasant

2 for deals are A LOT of food. Meats from steaks to burgers are cooked to order and so juicy. Love the interior of the building too. Authentic cowboy food!

My first time going, and it won't be my last!! We even bought the packages of steak burgers. Our server Jose was wonderful answering all my questions and even gave good recommendations and we were very pleased. Today we celebrated our 9 year anniversary and was very satisfied with our choice!! We'll be there again soon.

Food took 1 hour to arrive. Came cold. Ervice was horrible with no one in the place. Manager would only say "sorry about that". Guess we won't be back. I'd recommend don't bother. This place use to be good.
