Food always delicious, but had a server there last visit, felt very discriminated against...There was a table behind us arrived after us, about 9-10 people, native, and our server tended to them which is fine, but never came back for refills, and we fo for the coffee there as is delicious! They received their food before is, and anything we needed, we had to ask another server...We are Hispanic, and go there not frequently but we do go..I spoke to one of the Spanish speaking hostess, told him about this , he apologized, and as I told him, doesn't mean won't return, we will as we love the food, but felt he needed to know about the server...This is a small town, and there's many different races and cultures here, not just Navajo! So treat people with the same courtesy no matter what race they are!!
This is a must stop. Every time I come to Gallup this place never disappoints. You come hungry leave happy. Everything on the menu is great!! Lovely atmosphere. Very enjoyable staff.
Earls wasn’t too bad. Coming off I-40 it’s probably your best choice.
Good food, friendly staff and the jewelry venders are approved by the restaurant.
Hearty portions. Great service and the price can't be beat.
Food was good and portion size was large. It was crowded but service was fast even though. The main problem is that they allow people to come to your table to sell jewelry and many of them passed by.
Was really good, always eat there ,service is exactly
The waiter took a long time to take our order and drinks. when he was ready to take our order he took the people at the next table who came after we got there. When our food finally came 25 minutes after we ordered, we were sitting at our table with no utensils and it took another 15 minutes for the waiter to bring us our utensils. The plus side was the vendors who had beautiful jewelry!!
A solid 4, maybe a 5. Tasty, generous portions served quickly by friendly and attentive staff. My wife went crazy over the pasta salad and the red beets with onions from the salad bar. If she could have taken a giant bucket of pasta salad home, she would have done it.
I'll never go back!! This used to be a great place to go to, but now not so much, food is not so good anymore. We went with another couple a his wife ordered a Ruben sandwich. When she got her plate, she opened her sandwich and noticed that It didn't have hardly any meat. Ralph just happened to be walking by us and asked us how we we're doing? We mentioned about the sandwich, and he said he would have it taken care of. Problem is, what about the next time and the next time? Sorry! My wife and I were there another time and I ordered the BBQ special, and it was so dry I couldn't even tell you. Earl's used to be the best place to go, and they also had good Mexican food too. They would always make sure you had chips and salsa when you were seated, now you don't get any, and the Mexican food is terrible!! This is the last place we will go when eating out. Sorry about that Ralph. But you need to step it up!!
Delicious fajitas. I bought jewelry from the Navajo women who were selling what they made
Food was good & service was pleasant.
Highly recommend great food and great people, love it. Will come back when in the area.
Great food, high prices. I loved that local artists come around to your table selling their jewelry. The service was a bit slow.
The food was not that great. The rolls were cold and hard. But in our case, the server was sincere and treated us very well. He was the only reason I gave this place 3 stars.
Good delicious food..fast service...good job waiters...
Enormous breakfast ,tasty ,delicious, they give you plenty of coffee(coffee pot). And for dinner get better Navajo taco. Sopapillas, American and Mexican plenty to choose from the menu,Salad bar Honestly its sweet. They open 6:30 Am to 8:30 pm. Our waiter was victor and Richard goes every table making sure al the costumers are enjoying his place. Always are Native American offering his handcraft. Navajo .beautiful work. Keep it up Guys.
Mediocre. I used to love the open face green chile burger. 2day it tasted different. Not the same
Very good food, price was good too.
If ever in the Gallup area, we will make plans to dine at Earl's. Food and the service is always fabulous. And a perfect piece of jewelry can be found with one of the local vendors who sale their ware. The owner will often walk around to make sure everyone is pleased, which is quite the plus.
not bad at all but the server gave our food to the wrong table but they fixed it without hesitation...thanks staff
Old fashioned New Mexican diner in a bigger building. Wide menu, small town food. The food is fine, but depending upon the time of day the service can be slow. Lots of Native American artists selling jewelry, etc., and some of it is very nice. A laid back place to stop, one of the better places in Gallup.
Great place ....loved the jewelry for sale...Navajo taco are the bomb!!
Been here 3 time, all 3 time the service has been pleasant. The establishment is a little dated, but its kept up. Wide range of food menus.
Great tasting and great waiters!
Chicken was frozen chicken, fried. Too crisp, couldn't eat it. Homemade bread was not. Pinto beans no flavor. Baked potato, waxy.
This place is ok, price is good, but to many people interfering sell stone
It was great friendly waiter, and food was good
Food was mediocre at best. Waitress got my order wrong. Offered a piece of pie to fix it. Should have taken it off the bill. Kids mac and cheese looked like the cheapest kind from the grocery store. Mashed potatoes were good!
Always good food and service. Vendors are always a plus!
Couldn't enjoy your meal or conversate with your family without being disrupted by Navajos pushing there jewelry on you . Very rude .
Traveling from Texas to California and this place is always a worthwhile stop. The food is good and the people are great. Always friendly, welcoming, and helpful. They even gave us a complimentary order of chips and salsa. I love Earl's. Tip big here. They deserve it.
Good food good service friendly.
Historic Route 66 diner with amazing comfort food
Good food, good service, shopping from your table! Always the best!
Workers are trained to just get customers in and out as fast as possible to get more in and you can tell. But they are extremely nice, the building (including bathrooms) are very clean, and the food is amazing and fairly priced!
Good food good people I recommend it
Breakfast was great. Waiter was helpful.
Food bland and overpriced. Staff... uh appear to have just given up. Would not recommend. Cold, boring and tasteless.
Food was good, but there is constant people coming to the table to sell their wares.
Checking out home made jewelry. Nice people
Wonderful home cooked type food. Always a new special on the menu. Great service which is hard to find in Gallup. Fresh looking salad bar with more than iceberg lettuce. Great place to pick up a well priced gift from the nice vendors walking thru the restaurant.
A classic diner cuisine restaurant. That allow have been allowing local Native American artist to come in to sell their artwork. I good place to drink their well brewed ice tea, have a slice of pie, and look at all the jewelry the vendors bring around. *** REMINDER, bring cash to buy stuff from vendors***
This is a great place to get some authentic hand made jewelry. Local artists are crawling this location with jewelry boxes full of amazing art work. You will be able to bargain much easier in this environment. If you go to Santa Fe, expect to pay twice or three times as much for pieces like this. The food is pretty good, the salad bar is decent and has a pretty tasty sea food salad. I got the meatloaf, and it was satisfactory. I recommend the place. The wait staff is pretty in your face, that is the only draw back.
Some of the best Food in Gallup. Not only is the food good but they have very hard working staff. They are always busy, especially during the first of the month, tribal paydays and weekends. Inspite of how busy they are, you are always seated quickly, the servers are always fast and friendly. They have a wide variety of food to chose from. From Local dishes, New Mexican Food to American dishes. They have something for everyone. If you like hand crafted authentic Native American arts & crafts and jewelry. There is no need to go any further that Earls. Sellers come through the restaurant all the time with various types of jewelry, & arts & craft. If you don't want to be disturbed while eating by the sellers, you simply ask for a "No Sellers" sign and they will not disturb you. This place is on of the local favorites. If traveling through, this restaurant is a "must stop" for all.
Sausage links were homemade and delicious. Not sure what passes for gravy around here but that was not good. Pancakes were good and they had sugar free syrup even. Great waiter staff.
Everything was alright except the fries tasted like dish soap
Friendly staff and good breakfast.
Bad customer service and the food was dry and burnt
Very clean, excellent service. We has a good breakfast. Husband's hash browns were cook exactly like he likes them.
Food was good and they were fast getting It out.
We visited Earl's several times when we were in the US on vacation recently, on the way to our destination and also on the way back. The BEST place to eat in Gallup, New Mexico As far as we're concerned. We also got some great bargains from the Vendors selling their crafts outside and in. Thanks Earl
It's off and on with food and customer service. Some days you get great and friendly service but bad food. I wouldn't recommend but then again i would say at least try it.
Upscale is a stretch. They got the order wrong, and we were asked no less than 10 times to buy jewelry. Food is decent, and the price is not bad.
Great place to buy Arts an Crafts
Very busy and friendly upbeat atmosphere.. Alot of vendors selling goods. Enjoyed my tine there and even met the owner, a very nice gentleman. A must to eat at.. Excellent Restaurant!
Great selection. A lot of food for the price. Thank you Earl's!!
They never disappoint
Food was good and awesome service from our waitress. Highly recommend for evening dinner.
I was on my way to Albuquerque, New Mexico to film dancers at the annual Gathering of Nations Powwow. Earl's is a unique experience as many vendors of Native American jewelry and artwork are allowed to display their merchandise on the property. These people are respected artisans and don't sell aggressively. People coming to Earl's to eat, are also there to find a good deal on quality items made by actual Native Americans. I ate the Chile Colorado plate, it was excellent. Then I bought some beaded earrings from a Navajo lady sitting on a chair outside. My belly full, and everybody happy!
Feel like home at Earl’s! Just the kindest people you’ll ever meet and EVERYTHING is delicious. Highly recommend!
Great diner food and native American art and jewelry to buy direct from the artists
Jan 12, 2019 at 7:30 am. Denver omelet with coffee. Food, coffee and water. Tasted like lamb meat Greece. Gave me upset stomach. Serving and hostess: I give that at 5 Stars. Food: 3 stars. Never again. Coming back. Thank you for your hospitality.
It was delicious, but we went on an busy time the service wasnt to great, she forgot some of our side foods so we had to wait until we we're about to finish, also my father slice potatoes was still hard. Other then that my food was great.
This place is actually really good
Man this place is amazing! The food is good too!
Staff were friendly, food was good. Didn't care to much for the pressure to purchase from the many individuals that came ti or table with their handmade items. It was very irritating as they were constantly interrupting us.
Hamburger steak is the best in the land
There is a whirl of activity going on here most of the time. That is because they have a huge menu and serve all the food at a timely pace. And the food is good.
Great food service and lovely vendors! Kid approved breakfast
Good food..nice service
Earl's hosted our Christmas dinner. Outstanding!!! Food was hot, delicious. Staff asked us if we wanted seconds!! Everything was so good!!
Usually a good place to eat, if your order is right.....returned my plate twice. But staff could careless, it was a problem for them.
The service is friendly and helpful. Our waiter knew the area and told us of a good place to go stargazing. We passed a few so called diners but we wanted one that had been a true part of route 66. This place has been around since 1947 and I suspect that the menu hasn't changed much. We shared a pork chop plate and was very good. We're saving room for pie!
I asked for a Navajo taco with shredded beef with red chili. Waiter grabbed my menu and brought me back ground beef and beans. Then charged me $40 for 2 tacos that we refused to eat .
The good: friendly service, big portions. The not so good: no wine or beer. Food was over cooked and dry.
Large portion of burger with chili and fries. Very good along with unlimited ice tea.
Service was friendly and efficient. The breakfast was great. Clean and bright facility. Would definitely return.
Well bus drivers and bus attendents got together for breakfast at Earls this morning for the last day of school was a good get together hope you all enjoy your summer
The staff was friendly and there was plenty of seating available even though the parking lot was pretty full. The food came out in a surprisingly short amount of time after ordering. Everything was excellent. I would recommend getting the Earl's Special sandwich.
4 of us having dinner... The food for one of the 4 arrived about the time the rest of us were finishing. If she didn't get the salad bar and a biscuit, it probably would have been lower on the rating. I had the enchilada plate, the tortillas were leathery. I'm not even sure how you would do that. Usually they get mushy. The person getting the late food ended up feeling queasy immediately after eating, felt bad all night.
Love the lunch and environment... I was even able to buy jewelry from the local vendors. Nice place to eat
Food is ok.. employees r ok to... but the seller's needs to more RESPECT for customers some sellers need to take care of themselves like dressing up wear clean clothes brush there teeth... also there is always a gossip so and so did this said this.. so Manager or Owner please have meetings with your sellers
We been eating there often no other places liked Earls
I like the big breakfast burrito. Other than that not sure. I didn't care for anything else on the menu.
Breakfast is usually not too great in my opinion but lunch and dinner is where its at. By 'it' I mean the flavor and the attention to quality. The meats are always cooked so perfectly and the fries are one of my favorites there. Of course the southwest dishes are great as well.
Food was good and our waitresses was very attentive to our needs.
I was planning on looking at the vendors after I ate but every 3 minutes a vendor was at our tables asking us to buy. My waiters were good, prompt and helpful. My husband ordered the fry chicken he said it was pretty good. His pinto beans were hard. i ordered a bowl of chili. i got a bowl of pinto beans with 2 pieces of chuck meat and red enchilada sauce poured over. the womens restroom smelt of urine very strong smell. i was stressing so bad about saying no to the vendors that i couldn't finish eating and left within 5 minutes of our meal. Gallup's was not a good stop
Service wasn't as great. Our server took long to get our order and she didn't pay attention to our service.
Food wasn't that good just a east of money and time !
Loved it. Breakfast pork burrito with hatch chili sauce on top. Oh my gosh it was amazing! Best green chili I have ever had.
Very popular among locals. Every few minutes someone is presenting their handmade jewelry and art for you to review & buy while enjoying your meal. You have to wait in line to be seated on Saturdays.
Always great. Stopped by for breakfast really enjoyed both the red and green chile!
One of my favorite places to eat in NM. Great service and the food is always top notch!
Excellent customer service
....comfortable/ Good Service...
Ndn taco as big as your face
Love the place, food, and friendly waitresses
Me, wife, & kiddos, ate at legendary Earls today, ordered red chili burger deluxe, our food was dry an tasted differently, seems Ralph cut down on his portions these days, 20 years ago we had to stand in line just to eat here, don’t know what happen, but now we walk in an out, disappointing, but the servers are the best, they’re the real sellers, and my people selling they’re goods there are really crafty and independent. But be back soon when I hear it’s in good rating.
The waiter never came around to check on us. But it's my in laws favorite restaurant so I can't parade on their visit.
A LEGEND, PART OF THE ROUTE 66 HISTORY ! YOU MUST STOP FOR BREAKFAST - LUNCH - DINNER....WHATEVER !!!
Family tradition all my life. My grandmother was a cook here when it was across the street and I love the stuff she brought back after her shift.
Good place to eat. Great appetizers
Friendly atmosphere, many vendors come through, breakfast was good.
Fast, friendly service. I ordered the taco plate and didn't realize the shells were pre-made. I thought they would be homemade, authentic Mexican food. But we had excellent service.
The food is very good! I think the price is ok, decent. There were some changes to the business so the food wise had also changed. I hardly come around as I should though.
Great french dip sandwish n frie
I am glad this place is open early. Our waitress kept the coffee filled and was very efficient. Food was hot and yummy.
So i took my parents out for lunch. Actually, it was my dad's 82nd birthday. My mom ordered the baked potato meal, my dad ordered the Ribeye Steak & enchiladas. I also ordered a steak. Much to my surprise, the steak was tasty! A charbroiled taste. Their fries were good, but abit greasy. Overall, we all were satisfied with our meals. Very good Customer Service after we were seated.
I had the sloppy joe special. It was quite good.
Good food but not so good salad bar.
Awesome as always. Waiter was absolutely amazing!
Had a very satisfying breakfast
Good and fresh food
Food is sub-par, not a lot of care goes into the making of the the main dinner entrees; rather run like a cafeteria. A lot of side dishes are canned goods and dumped into side dishes. You tend to feel like a dollar sign at Earl's, just another paying customer, amd given food made any ol' how.
Enjoyed the Mexican combo plate. Decent prices and liked the local artists walking their crafts thru tables.
I love me some Navajo tacos. Great place to stop. Definitely worth it, they are huge. Plus they have a ton of turquoise venders if you need a pretty.
Best place to enjoy a meal
Big restaurant with wide variety of food. Native Americans come by your table while you are eating to sell their crafts. Don't know if they are a good deal but we bought some earings, Food was plain but good. Wife's burger was VERY well done. Tatter Tots we good. Waitress nice. They gave us refills of drinks in take out cups.
If you’re not from the area then this place is great to stop by on your way through! You get an experience with the local Navajo jewelers. They walk through the restaurant and show their products to your table. If you go in with the mindset of purchasing some jewelry then it’s not bad! We love stopping here and picking up some Navajo necklaces and earrings for our vacations. Great place to pick up some gifts!
Great and plenty food. Fresh ingredients. Reasonable prices. We will return whenever possible.
Boss himself always greets his customers
Very friendly and professional servers very organized great place to have Dinner with Family and Friends !!
The service is really good. The food is served in generous portions. Had the Navajo Taco and split it with my husband. It can easily feed more than 2 people. This picture is just half!
Large meal for $11. I got the 2 pieces fried chicken dinner. Came with salad bar, baked potato and a side.
Love the food and the owner is wonderful.
Very nice place. Good people. Service is well done.
Food was good but it was their vendor day so people kept circulating and asking us to buy something. They were polite but it was disruptive to our young kids.
It's ok get better portions elsewhere but it's where the natives eat.
The taste food has gone down dramatically. How sad the flavors are no longer there as it was back in it's heyday when mama Richardson was still around. The staff is extremely wonderful and the service is awesome. Just wish the food was just as classy as the staff; boo for the tasteless food which has a reheated taste in all menu items bleh!
If you're looking for authentic Native American jewelry to buy, this is the place to eat and buy direct from the jewelry makers. Do not buy from pawn shops or jewelry stores along historic route 66, they will charge you five times more.
First time visitor- food was good and prices are modest. Service was fantastic, but did not like the Indian jewelry coming around to the table and trying to sell their stuff
2nd visit and even better than the first a few years ago. Richie was an amazing server and he took the time to talk us through the local cuisine. We ordered on his recommendation and it was superbly fresh and exciting. It was food we would never have ordered because we didn't know about it. Ask for Richie he's the best!! According to my friends that I travelled with the vendor's that sell the jewelry have very very good prices. They have seen their wares in other stores for three times the price. So please consider them if you are passing!
As a youngster I remember many great meals at Earl's growing up. The food is not very good anymore, everything else about Earl's is still wonderful. I had a club sandwich, the bread was soggy from to much mayo. How does one mess up a club sandwich?
Have stopped here more than once and never had problems with the servers. They were always friendly and helpful. Plenty to eat at reasonable prices. We also come here for the lndian jewelry and crafts. The food, friendly servers, reasonable prices, jewelry and and food makes it a good reason to go there. If you haven't been there, your missing a lot. Stopped by on the way home 2 days later and was surprised by the lady taking our order(won't mention the name). Maybe she was having a bad day. Was mid afternoon and the days before was just before lunch. People like that should find a different job if they don't like the job and can't smile. Ruins the day dealing with someone that meets the public. Other than her, everything I mentioned before was still good.
Excellent food and reasonably priced. Beef stew was very good
Skip it! Treat yourself and have a subway.
The breakfasts' are pretty good. You can also shop while you eat with walking native vendors presenting their crafts.
Not sure if they still allow this, but when we lived there, this establishment would let vendors walk around in the restaurant and let them approach people who are eating to try to sell their arts and crafts. Extremely rude practice.
Good food but the service could be better
Food was good but loved being able to buy Native American arts and crafts right at my table
I’ll never go back there again ! Order the meat loaf wasn’t done they never offered to take it back or anything had to pay for the meal Even though I didn’t eat a bite. And then every 25 seconds somebody came by and asked me if I wanted to buy something . Stay away!!!!!!
The food was ok but the jewelry was amazing!
Good Food, good service, awesome company!!
Always prepared and ready. Food so delicious. Thanks to all staff
The service was phenomenal, and the waiter was awesome and rocking his job. Thank again Richard, for making our trip very much worth it! Plus they were slammed with a ton of people but our food still came out at a reasonable time. There are people that come by regularly trying to see thing to you. The steak burrito with green Chile and the Navajo burger are both great.
The serves, food, Jewelry, atmosphere is awesome.
Love breakfast here! SOUTHWEST SANDWICH! ;) #greenchili
