We always eat at chef Lupe’s when in town. It’s been good, but not this time. The hamburger was refried and crunchy. The breakfast burrito was all potato and no egg. The waitress informed us that this was their second day in the new building. I think they left the good food and cook in the old one.

Visited during a great winter snowy weekend in Ruidoso and we were lucky enough to be staying with friend in a nearby cabin literally walking distance from Lupe's. Central location to the town and away from the busy Midtown area and the breakfast was fulfilling and flavorful. I apologize for missing this place on my many visits to Ruidoso in the past but Lupe's is now on my list of places to "must visit" when returning the mountains.

God is TERRIBLE . I ordered a combo plate .When asked need or chicken I said beef only their version of beef is BRISKET! It was a unexpected unpleasant surprise. Also the help is rude. They give all the plates to one person at the table and expect for the paying customer to pass them around the table. LAME

The food and service sucked!!! Who serves french fries with a chicken fried steak??? Only if the one ordering asks for them!!! Craved a chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes, but ended up with fries. Waitress never checked on us and the food was served cold. Never will go back!!!

After bring in Ski Apache all morning we arrived and it was empty. We ordered a small menudo that was salty and a fish soup with lots and i mean lots of veggies and little fish. The salsa that was given with chips was also salty. It took them 15 minutes to bring us our food. We were left with nothing to drink for another 10 min and when we asked for a refill she charged for another drink. WHAT!! Poor service.

After going to 3 other breakfast restaurants (one had a wait of an hour, another was closed upon arrival & the other was too far away) we were running out of options and we found this gem! We opted for the bacon, egg, cheese and potato burrito and asked for green salsa and let me tell you, it was amazing. We were full until dinner, it was such a generous portion. The staff was courteous & we opted for it to go because we wanted to get to fishing already. We will be back in the morning for breakfast again. Delicious.

I'm so sorry i really dont like being mean and negative, but i just needed to let people know that this place is not how it used to be. The plates were dirty, the food was very greasy, and coffee was not very good, and the menudo which used to be very good is barely palatable. It saddens me to be so disappointed with a small restaurant with friendly staff but the place really is very dirty and unkempt and the food is just not worth tolerating.

The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious! We had a large party and everyone found something they wanted; from combination platters to pancakes and we almost all licked our plates clean! Be warned though: THIS ISN'T NEW MEXICAN FOOD. This is straight up Mexican food and every bit of it was great. Will be back!

Liver & onions are seldom cooked well. Here they are extremely good. Recommend & will come back despite the veggies, except onions, with them undercooked & not good. Salad is fresh & good.

I do not like to leave negative reviews if I can help it. I try to find the good and not look for the bad but unfortunately for this place it is negative. Steaks were burned and so tough could not be eaten. One of my daughters ordered the California chicken sandwich (which she always orders the safest thing on menu at new place) and she said it was good. She was the only one out of 5 that had a good meal. Chips and salsa are very good they just don't give enough to last and they are very short staffed so takes forever to get service. The homemade tortillas were good also but for the overall experience we will not eat here again.:-(

One of our "must go to" places every time we are in Ruidoso! We always go for breakfast, the food is really good and decently priced! Definitely recommend if you are looking for somewhere to go for breakfast. Try an omelette or huevos rancheros!

It's a very good place to eat the waitresses so friendly and very knowledgeable on oriental food. And the owner is very nice to be honest this is v e the best Thai food house that I have you in a very long time I would recommend anybody food is very authentic

I ordered the tostada plate. All it said was beef. I asked rhe waitress if beans came on top of the tostada she said yes. It did not! Also, the "beef" was shredded beef not hb meat like a normal tostada would come., and they were soggy. I also asked for a side tamale. Tht tamale wasnt even a tamale idk what it was but it crumbled. Never ever ever would I eat there nor recomend anyone out of town to eat there. This wasnt all my mother in laws food was all jacked up as well but. Tht would be her review to write

The food here was terrible. Any food that comes out really fast is questionable. It took less than 10mins after ordering when our food came to the table. We had the green chicken enchiladas. It had a weird taste. The beans and rice taste old. The flour tortillas are store bought. I left half my food there so did my boyfriend. The waitress was horrible too only came to the table once. My bf had to go to the front looking for her to let her know our order was wrong. Wasn't a issue on waiting because our food came out a second time real quick. Waste of money don't go there.

Tried to eat here. Walked in, told to seat ourselves. Find a booth and sit and wait for 20 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. 2 separate tables come to the section and they sit and about 5 minutes later a waitress comes over and brings them chips, etc. One of the women points out we have yet to be waited on and the waitress says oh I will bring y'all silverware- 10 minutes later we still hadn't seen her or anyone else. At this point we chose to leave. So while I can't rate the food the service is horrible. Good luck!

Delicious local food. Both American and Mexican food on the menu. I love the tacos which have a wonderful beef filing that's almost like beef roast. Mexican plates have a choice of red or green salsa - both are good. Excellent table salsa. Limited kids menu. Substantial breakfast menu.

Slow to be waited on and had to ask for refills and condiments . The salad came after the meal. But worse of all, I saw two employees touch food with their bare hands and chips from a basket were dumped back into the bin to be reused.

We've eating here a couple of times and the food and service have been good... today although is an exception. When the waitress came to take our order we weren't ready she seemed upset and bothered so she sent the other waitress to help us instead. It seemed as if we were bothering them. And that's that the restaurant was empty. I understand that it's a tough job but not even a good morning.

Slow service. Food took long to come. Once food was delivered to our table, our waitress never returned. We stood to go ask for our own drink refills, to ask for food that never came, and to ask for silverware. A table got up and left because their order was never taken. And the food was not good, especially not the menudo.

Im from South Texas and have been craving Mexican food since I've been in Ruidoso, so my parents said lets try this place we have never been. We went and ordered lemonade which was fresh squeezed and good. The chips and salsa were the only thing that was good. I ordered the #5 combo, the rice had no flavor at all, the beans were burnt, and the tamale was not cooked correctly and fell apart as soon as i took it out of the husk. My children got a hamburger meal and a chicken strip meal, the chicken strip meal took the longest to come out leaving my 2 year old waiting for his food after everyone else got theirs. They were super crispy and way over cooked, the chicken was dry and he couldnt even eat it without having to chew for 5 min to get it moist enough to swallow. Sadly I'll never be going back to this place and wont be recomending it to anyone.

My husband brought take out from here back to the hotel and it was delicious. It came with a generous amount of chips and salsa too. We had tamales, a red chicken enchilada, and a bean and cheese burrito. Everything was perfect. The tamales were not the least bit dry and had good flavor. The enchilada was amazing: a little tangy and just a little spicy. And the horchata! So good. Nothing like the crap that comes out of a machine.

I ordered the pistachio waffle combo with bacon and over medium eggs. The bacon was almost burnt it was so crispy the eggs were undercooked. I enjoyed the waffle. I might have chopped up the pistachios a bit for a better texture combo in the waffle but over all it was a nice touch to a simple waffle. My husband ordered the pistachio pancakes. I liked the pancakes better than the waffle. My friend ordered the menudo, he couldn't finish it...it was not good. The soup part of it was thick like tomato soup or tomato sauce. Coffee was also under par.

Was expecting the same good food they had when they were located on Sudderth. Must be under new management because Instead we walked into poor service and terrible food. Talk about re-purposed food. I'm pretty sure half our food was re-purposed. I only took 2 bites of my food so I didn't just depend on the smell of it ( which I didn't dare taste the rice cause it smelled pretty bad). Probley end up getting food poisoning just from those 2 bites. But anyways I wouldn't recommend this place and I won't eat here ever again. On the bright side after we left, taco bell sure took the nasty taste out my mouth. Thank you Taco Bell

I liked the diner vibe this place has. The staff were really friendly and perhaps a little too open... but I enjoyed it. Almost felt like getting food at family friend's house. As far as the food goes, I had a green chili burrito (I was visiting NM, so had to try it) which was really, really delicious. Some of the ingredients were subpar, though, including the lettuce, rice, and beans.

Chef Lupe's has been around a while and has found a nice home in their current location. They did a remodel recently and the place looks fresh. If you like tomatillo it's in most of the green chille sauces. My wife loves their steak tacos. If you have some that can't stand the heat then you can also order American style dishes. Extended hours so when other places are closed this place is most likely to be open.

I ordered a bean burrito and a crispy taco. The tortilla on my burrito was so hard I had a hard time cutting it...even with a knife. The taco shell was also burnt and when I picked it up off the plate, it was sitting in a pool if grease. My husband ordered something off of the breakfast menu. The top was completely black. He took two bites and couldn't eat anymore because he said it was too gross. We waited for our food for 45 minutes, and they maybe had two other tables in there. As I was sitting there, one of the employees from the back, probably a cook, came around the corner to sit down to eat and he had a half drank Modelo with his plate of food. I'm guessing it's acceptable to drink on the job there, which is probably why our food was so terrible. Very disappointing as we are on vacation, but we now know we will never visit there again when we come back to Ruidoso.

I used to go to this place back in the early 2000's. This place has lost the quality and cleanliness it had back then. Dirty cups and plates, silverware was all muggy. Do not go there an apologies to the dear friends that I recommended to visit this dump.
