REVIEWS OF Winberie's Restaurant & Bar IN New Jersey

Jack Gallagher

We were visiting Frank Lloyd Wright's Unity Temple and wanted a place nearby for lunch. Winberie's is a short walk away. The dining room is very attractive and the waitress was friendly. Food was pretty good. Recommended, especially if you enjoy conversation with your companions.

Luis Gould

The food is always fresh and yummy, staff members provides good customer service. I liked how clean it is and mood. Will come visit again.

Lucy Sandler

A pretty tasty spot in town. The hickory burger was really good, and the portions are large. The place did seem a bit understaffed, or like the staff was all kind of new. But in terms of food, I would probably go back.

Douglas Kelly

Good selection of IPAs, although the choices tended to high alcohol content,. Shepherd's pie with lamb was quite tasty. Busy, but comfortable ambience. Happy hour specials were varied and good.

Jacque Howard

Staple in Princeton NJ. Located on Palmer Square across the street from Princeton University. Lots of amenities and offerings in walking distance regarding entertainment, food and beverages. Parking available in multiple lots and the strert as well. Pay close attention to parking rules. Located in a lower level of a building with street views. Can be very busy at times. Pleasant staff, varied menu offering seasonal and traditional fare. On this visit I had the Garden Burger. Plenty of craft beers available on a rotating menu.

Daana B

Decent. Wasn't my usual place but I was pleasantly surprised.

Alejandro Cruz

Prompt service on a decently sized party. Server/bartender took great care of us. Friendly staff and relaxed environment. Recommended for a good hang out, social spot.

Satyajit Ghosh

Sunday brunch was really good but $24 is little on the expensive side

L A Flax

Very cosy pub atmosphere with nice staff. A little slow with the drinks

Charles Sadler II

Drinks are awesome and they have some really great drink specials throughout the week! My wife and I loved sharing their dessert fondue!

Anna Gjertsen

We go for their buffet brunch almost every mother's day and father's day and loved it. However, recently the price has gone up and the selection has gone down.

Melanie Logan

Tasty. Fun crowd. A bit overpriced.

Katie Tonkin

Good food, very overpriced, but it is Princeton. Nice bar atmosphere as well as the restaurant side.

Roger Marks

Our favorite place in Princeton for many years. Great food and drink.

Jennifer Ng'andu

Suprisingly good. I was hesitant because of all the mixed reviews, but really thought the food was top notch. I'll be back again and sooner than this first visit.

Peter Montemurno

Fair pricing good food

Sarah Daneke

If I can describe it in a perfect way, it's like a slightly upscale Applebee's of Princeton. Great place. Would visit again

Guy Dip

French Tutor Guy gives 5 Stars!

Peter Sifnakis

Awesome amazing food

Bobby Criss

Dive bar vibe (in a good way) with good food in the heart of Princeton. Good beer options and great burgers.

Philip Britton

Best Brunch I ever had. Food is amazing with unbelievable choices. I will definitely go back.

Molly Perry

Greatly enjoyed the vegetable and rice dish. Super flavorful!

Satheesh Karat

Great place for a few drinks. Friendly bartenders.. And overall good atmosphere for catching up with friends. Highly recommend

robert maslanka

Nice that they take reservations.

Gary Katz

Pleasant experience having dinner at the bar. Bartenders were great and honest feedback regarding menu specials.

Angel V

The food is ok. The service not great & the staff needs stuff to do. When we went recently two waitresses were standing behind our table organizing forks & spoons the entire time we were there, it was hard to have a conversation they were making so much noise. If they were not doing that they were walking around our table looking into space. It was a very uncomfortable experience for my family & I. We will not be going back. Manager on duty should really pay attention & get the staff some real work to do or send them home.

Adam Kelley

Surprisingly not crowded for a Saturday night at 8:30. Been here in the middle of the week and it's been packed. Great beer selection and the food is good. Nice neighborhood restaurant with good bar.

blake bullis

Pub is great drinking or happy hour atmosphere. Because it is a pub it has dark wood and feels a bit dark inside. Great beer selection as well. I haven't eaten there yet, just happy hour drinks.

Terrance Wong

Good food, a bit disorganized service for me. Ordered a beer, got charged a beer... never got said beer. But food was good and portion size generous.

Borrelli Valentino

Great food and great service

Brian Epstein

Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Worthwhile and good eats!

Ryan McNamara

The staff is very friendly and attentive! The bar has the best happy hour in town, and the restaurant has a great payout for some privacy. The Sunday brunch is a bargain! I've been coming here for years and have yet to have a bad experience.

Eugenia Shneider

It's one of the best places to go out in Princeton, whether you want good food, drinks... or chocolate fondue. :) it's always my to go place. I've celebrated many birthdays with friends there or just stopped for a drink or lunch on a weekend.

Rick Nelson

The place has a nice feel, the staff are friendly and pricess are reasonable.

Dani Chao

Food was OK, but a lady kept coming to my table asking if I need anything else EVERY 5 MINUTES! I would definitely pay tips anyway. She didn't need to do that. It's so annoying.

Kristin Chapman

Food was amazing and helpful with my food allergies

Denyson Machado

I’ve been here twice with the family and both times food were absolutely the best. Burgers and soups are fantastic. There is also good options for kids and price is affordable. Good choice in Princeton.

Sagar Setru

A Princeton classic. Great food and drinks. Cozy ambience

Bob Hentz

Great service and fresh food

Katie Neitz

I've had great service here both times I've gone. The food is delicious, I loved the brisket. Nice atmosphere as well.

Regina Mercado

Cozy place, nice crew, good it!!

Brian Pontious

Service was terrible, food was overpriced, paper on top of table cloths, and there was two underneath the table cloth.

Permjit Ghotra

Nice selection of IPAs and the bartender was awesome. Made sure we chose the right craft beer for our palette.

Elena Ruiz

They took a LONG time to give us a table, but the appetizers were pretty good

Michele Ross

My husband and I had our first date here, we continue to come back year after year for the past 7yrs to celebrate! Love this place!

Andrew Wilson Wilterson

The prices here are clearly excessive. Most of the beers are $9 or more. The BBQ burger that I had, while decent, was $14. A burger and a beer (not even a fancy beer!) should not cost almost $30, with tip. Don't support this business model.

Alexandr Kornev

Cozy place. They can improve their Martini quality though.

Marcella Latoof

The soups are amazing!!

Jenifer Stanek

The atmosphere was great, food was delicious with an emphasis on various melted cheeses, the bartender and hostess made my experience by being very conversational and friendly. They play great music, the decor is ideal for the environment they are going for (dark woods, nostalgic photos, subway restroom tiles). I highly recommend a visit!

Zack Beneduce

Excellent burgers. Fantastic fries. Great service. Enough said

Ina Sivriver

Every visit here is a pleasure. Great food (not so many, but very tasty vegetarian and vegan options), attentive service, good beer selection, cozy atmosphere, very affordable prices on a number of items in the menu. All what is needed for a fun and tasty dining. We'll be back soon!

Aaron Gorhan

Good food, nice place to watch sports

Robert Pisauro

This place was absolutely Awesome! Great staff. Great atmosphere. Great food! Try the Alabama White wings!! Fantastic!

David Butler

Nice place, great location in Palmer Sq.

Ryan Mcnutt

Lu Foley

Love their salmon salad!

Great food, cool place, and nice staff. We went there to watch some football and very much enjoyed the half priced burgers.

Bruce J. Allen

Seemed like a fun crowd. The food is ok...

Don Dude

Had the steak Ban Mi, it was very good. Wife had atlasion salad and really enjoyed it. Nice beer selection. Solid food and drinks if that is what you are looking for.

Lynda Smith

Food is great. Been there several times and each time I'm never disappointed. The Irish Nachos are the best!

Terry Lambert

Tuesday night, we got a table right away. My husband got the ribs and I had the Alsatian chicken salad. The salad was a VERY good and my hubby liked the ribs. We had a quiet booth, very private (after the college students left) . Great place, great food. Parking is horrible. Oh well.

Jamie Judkins

The food was great. The blood orange mule was mediocre and didn't come in the traditional copper mug, which, in my opinion, makes the drink. The service was great, though and the atmosphere was trendy, warm, and inviting. It felt like an Irish or German tavern.

Leah La Fevre

I've been going here since I was a kid (my mom used to work here) and I've always had a good experience. The food here is great and the service is good. The bar gets crowded at around 7pm fyi. Prices aren't terrible but it's not cheap either. You definitely get your moneys worth though. Some of the furniture is a little run down but nothing bad. Will always come back.

Nicole C

Winberries recently changed their menu but we still love the place. It embodies the Princeton atmosphere with old pictures and wall decor. The location is great too, right in Palmer square. A great place for some great food!

Sam Dale

Fantastic food. Definitely have the salmon. Scrumptious. The set-up is a little cave-like, but the food is totally worth it.

John Davis

Great food. Staff friendly

Jon Prevost

Never a bad experience. Brunch buffet is always too much but come on, you're going to a buffet! Either prepare or don't go :)

Team Elite Diamonds

Great place to go for a burger, salad or drinks. Located in the beautiful Palmer Square and close to University.

Elian Hale

Excellent and tasty food, I love the mood this place has, and the employees were very nice. I will surely come back.

Peter Hollis

Paulash Banerjee

We were here for happy hour and it was great . It gets crowded real quick and the food is damn good. Their happy hour drink selection/deal is pretty good and their food selection was well priced and delicious. I can't wait to go back.

Julia Gonzalez

Everything here is amazing.

stella angel Karcnik

People are afraid of this place because they assume if it is in the center of princeton it must be super expensive. This is not the case ! If you want a burger or regular bar food with your drink the prices are good. Only downsides are it can get very loud and crowded.

Joe Carberry

Great place to chill out with some friends and have a good sit down meal. There are options for meat lovers and healthy options. Wait staff was very nice and attentive. Overall great place for your friends or family.

Joy Kinglsey

Went here to eat with the family after watching a show on campus. The food was decent, however, the Caesar salad was absolutely awful. We weren't sure how one could mess up a simple salad but the dressing was terrible and the entire salad with soggy and inedible. We didn't touch the salad after the first few bites and the server paid no attention to that. Our server actually failed to ask how the food was overall, which is a let down. The booth the table was placed near was not attached to the wooden bench underneath. This was uncomfortable and cheap looking. If someone got up, the entire booth felt it and were disturbed. I understand this is a pub-feel restaurant, but it would be nice if there was more attention and care put into the service.

Sherene Mitchell

I will first preface this review by saying I have been to Winberie's for dinner a number of times since I work in Princeton. Today, I chose to go for Happy Hour ( in the bar area) and I must say , it was a great time. Our server came over within minutes of us sitting down. I was surprised at the prices for food and drinks ( a true bargain) during happy hour especially since we were in Princeton. The food was great and I will be going back again and again.

Megan Pichalski

Great amazing. Cajun Mac and cheese out of this world

Dipen Patel

Their black bean burger is the best for vegetarians.

Hank Lindgren

Great food, burgers were the bomb! Nice prime rib, horseradish sauce wasn't very good.

Jen Hsu

Bistro burger is my go to entree. The burger is fresh, juicy and rich in flavor. The place has a nice vibe on Friday night so it's a nice hangout place even if you ate looking to have a couple beers at the bar.

I had a burger and fries. Delicious as usual. Friendly staff.

Robert Myak

I’m a regular in the Princeton area, but their late night happy hour from 10-Close was incorrectly posted on the menus outside the main door, and happy hour menus were passed out by the bartenders. The manager proceeded to treat us rudely and refused to rectify his error, claiming that we should have alerted him of the error before paying. Honestly, the handling of this problem ruined the experience, and it is a shame because it could have been easily solved. It came down to a managerial issue and a problem that resulted from him refusing to realize the error in the sign posted at the main door.

Justice Sanchez

I had a fantastic experience in this spot. We enjoyed the awesome atmosphere and the food. The staff members are super friendly. I’m happy we finally decided to try this place.

Keshav Bhandari

My first impression of this place was awesome. The spot was just right for the locations. We were greeted by warm smile by a lady as we entered in and guided towards our table. We were here at 9:10 pm and there wasn’t any waiting time. There was little time between sitting down and placing an order. Our server was quick. Our orders were simple. We received all our orders in 12 minutes. Chicken pot pie (pictures attached) : 6/10. Decent amount of chicken. Serving size is big (for Asian standards). The chicken and potatoes are cooked nicely, tender and flavorful. A friend ordered the veggie rice bowl, a little overly salty (soy sauce). The dark espresso brownie was very yummy, not too sweet. Perfect with the vanilla ice cream at the side. And I can’t comment more about my Blue moon; it’s just the way it is suppose to be.

Jared Clayton

The menu and service were above my expectations. I truly enjoyed the ambience of this place. First-rate place to take my family out for lunch.

Winberie’s Restaurant was good but not as good as it used to be. The presentation of the food and costumer service was really great. Quality of the food didn’t surprise me too though. I wouldn’t recommend getting the toll house pie for dessert. Rating it 3 stars because I did not feel satisfied after eating my shrimp linguini which almost never happens when I eat out, specially pasta. Overall experience was okay. I would come back again to eat something else.

Indhira Vivas

The service was terrible. The food took almost an hour to got to the table. I don’t recommend this place at all

Bob Sisco

Decent food, fair prices.

Sharon Reid

It was nice. I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.

Scott Mulraney

Good bar food with some nicer options. Great burgers. Good place for drinks. Popular with the college crowd, but not in an overly rowdy way. Great location right on Palmer Square. Can be busy, but they'll take your number and text you when your table is ready.

Haoze Li

Nice restaurant! The service is good and the food is delicious. The spaghetti is much much better than so called "Italian" spaghetti served by Otto around NYU

Katherine Copenhagen

Good selection of beer nice people and atmosphere.

Luba B

Great place. Very accommodating bar even if you're not much of an alcohol drinker. Staff is very well trained. Did not see who exactly made the spinach dip and the milkshake for me, so would like to send a digital thank you. :)

Michael Smanko

Winberie’s is a great spot in the center of Princeton, convenient to the university. The restaurant offers a selection of lunch and dinner entrees and a full bar. The bar area happy hour offers drink and snack foods at reduced prices. They also have a large selection of craft beers on draught. Quick and friendly service always.

Matt Runko

Food was fine but service was an issue. I suggest telling the servers to write down orders. One person in our party asked for a glass of water 4 times before it came to the table. Another person ordered a beer that did not come to the end of the meal. These are just two examples, there were others.

stephen yaros

Everytime I visit Princeton I make sure I stop at Winberie's for a meal. I've never been disappointed! Great food with great service.

Bethany Frank

Nice place, but it could use a little updating. Newer cushions on the seats that look fresher would be nice, but I'm nitpicking. The food was good and they had a lot of options at different price levels. I had the chicken alfredo pasta and it was perfect. I like that they offer smaller portion options for the pasta dishes. The beer selection was awesome! Lots of local brews. I tried the Thomas Jefferson which was really good.

Alice Raj

A little pricey, but the food is great. I recommend to anyone looking for a classic Princeton eatery that really hits the spot.

Paula Andras

Great food, love the ambience. We usually go on Wednesdays for their great wine specials! The food is unique and delicious. Last time I was there I had a BBQ dinner special and it was amazing. The brisket was so tender and the sauce was perfection. And the mac and cheese was yummy too!

Cyril Garcia

Great burgers and good place too have a beer

lex que

Great crowd, happy hour drinks good IPA. Sliders, chicken fiesta and loaded cheese fries with bacon. Yummy!

Ate twice during Memorial Day wkd. Fantastic Shepherd Pie & Chicken Pot Pie! Good service + clean bathrooms too.

Maureen Quap

Affordable, varied menu.

Kevin Tarrant

The food was good but the service was bad. Waited 30 minutes for the check after our plates were cleared

Jason Ross

Very delicious food. Great service.

Nutan Patel

I came here around 10 PM and sat at the restaurant. They told us they are closing and we were confused because yelp said they closed at 2AM. They told us the sitting area closed at 10 but the bar area is open until 2AM. This place was pretty dead and the decor seems like they havent updated it since it was opened.

Cadee Qiu

It has good hearty American food but I always found the food too heavy and basic. If you're looking for comfy food this is he place for you, but not for those looking for a refreshing twist on a classic dish. The restaurant is also very dark and loud so it's not the most intimate place. Probably good for a large family dinner.

A. Winger

Love this place! Go there every year for our anniversary.

Tamara Telemaque

I had the veggie nacho and veggie bowl with chicken - everything was very good. The service was good too.

Corin Schack

Really friendly staff. Had a reservation for 8, that I made the evening before. Told them ahead 2 maybe 4 kids. Arrived 30mins early and they had the seating prepped within 2mins of us arriving early. Seated with 2 kids, crayons, and coloring mats, and drinks arrived within 5mins. The other 4 members arrived and all were able to order drinks. I could tell the waitress took extra notes for any menu change requests, as well as drink specialty requests. She also took an extra moment to ensure our order was correct and reread the order to us. Food was good. Portions were large so some options can be shared or taken home. We paid with no issues. Clean and positive vibe. We even came back bc the little ones needed to use the bathroom after walking through Princeton, and they happily said welcome back and did not make a fuss. I feel this was a down to earth, friendly vibe restaurant. The bar was packed bc of happy hour, and I was not aware of how many bartenders were working. The waitress did frequently refill our waters and drinks without requests needed. There was trivia night going on as well in the bar area, however we did not partake.

Gary Brancato

Winberies is the the best place to eat by far! They have the friendliest staff and the best food. My favorite dish is there Cajun macaroni and cheese. The beer selection is amazing and the atmosphere is fantastic. I just wish i lived closer so i could enjoy it more! A must place to eat when your in the area.

tzvia thier

I'm happy the waitress didn't grab the food from my mouth... I didn't have a chance to let her know that I was still eating when she took my plate...

Kevin Lawton

Best brunch in the area. Great selection from breakfast food to a carving station and dessert table. Best option for a group of people. Always a great atmosphere as well

Great turkey sandwich

Very quick but some waiters are slow. Good for price and very good food. GF vegetarian and vegan options. I would really recommend if you are going to watch a sport game, go out for dinner or any occasion.

Very good burgers

Matthew Sebera

My mom makes the best fish and chips but this place is actually pretty decent.

Ashley Boehm

Good casual dining. American staples all the place. Get the bistro burger you won't regret it. Fries are better than the chips.

Patricia Motta

Best burger EVER. Best brunch and happy hour as well. Lots of cool beer.

Charles Duboc

Great place to meet up and have a pint...or three. I am not a huge fan of their food menu and have had mixed experiences when ordering off of it but if you go for the beers and happen to eat, you should be satisfied.

Justin K

It does get pretty loud and crowded, I guess that's ok. It seems hard to get drinks when it's busy though and the bar area is fairly small. They typically have a good craft beer tap list though!

Food is decent staff is nice, great place for a drink and to leave

Good food Surprisingly, a lot of wings came in the order. I did not expect that

John Ferrer

Great for late night food when everything else in the area is closed. It's not even a last resort type place, the food is like classier bar fare.

Kimberly Owen

These guys have amazing burgers and fantastic sirloin steaks and it will simply take your breath away.Try them

Hernan Tudela

Great dinner... Great beer selection... Great atmosphere. Had the Alsatian salad which was VG... Mike V did a great job.

Torrey Drum

Best bar in Princeton! Great happy hour/bar menu. Love the bartenders. Great food and service. I'm here a lot.

Sonya C Ritter

Solid pub atmosphere, good drinks and wine. Very fun people come here for happy hour :-) Nice, established restaurant knows how to do beer and burgers. If I find myself in Princeton on a Sunday in the future, I'll try it for brunch.

Kathleen Reilly

Great service and good! Fun for a group

Jay Tall

Food was very good. Service was better. The turkey sandwich had tons of avocado, not just a slice. Salmon cooked perfect.

Giovanni Charles

Food is amazing and they have an awesome selection. The only problem with being a great restaurant in a college town is that you will NEVER get a table. If you enjoy intimate settings then this place is way too loud and congested for you. Staff has been pretty rude on multiple locations but I rarely let that discourage me from any dining experience. The food and drinks are great but I don't enjoy my time as much as I could, my suggestion would be to visit during periods where they're dead.

Marci Cole

Sometimes the bar gets crowded if you're just trying to have a drink, but the food and service are always good.

Seungwook So

I love to grab a hickory burger during happy hour!

Branden Martin

The food isn't amazing or memory making, but a great place to meet people and share a drink or a meal. Friendly staff with a good menu. This is the kind of place that you remember for the times you were there and the people you were with.

Ryan Ramsay

Best french onion soup I ever had

Ann Lovell

Really fun atmosphere and great food

Kija Fitzpatrick

We had a Salmon burger which was ABSOLUTELY delish! The "Craff Burger" was a newly added item on their Specials list and it was also very good! Craft beers available for Craft beer lovers and they have a number of beer on tap. Prices were not prohibitive, especially for what is expected in Princeton. I would highly recommend if you looking for good pub food and beer.

Daniel Lieuwen

Cute. Good burger

Bill Dunne

Easily the best happy hour (and late night) pricing in town. Generous portions for whatever the food is that you're ordering, from their salads to their burgers and quesadilla. Really wish they'd buy some new TVs though. Those things are DATED.

Rohan Tilekar

Good place to try out for drinks and quick snacks. The bar area is good and is lively place to hangout. Kind staff, good options for drinks. Try it out.

Mike Q

Great food and atmosphere, aside from the permeating odor of grease

Hari Cadambi

One of our favorite local places. It has a cozy pub like atmosphere with plenty of off-bar restaurant seating. The food is decent. I'd recommend the Cajun Mac and cheese, the rocket salad and several of the burgers. And the choice of beers is good as well. They also have a kids menu.

Richard Strada

Great food and an outstanding staff. Hopefully the remodeling will be completed in time for Princeton's Ice Hockey Season 2019.

George Gallo

You can barely hear the person across the table from you at the busiest hours, and it's almost enough to take away another star. But the pub fare is very tasty (bangers and mash, cajun mac and cheese) and we've always had good service. A good joint in Princeton.

Observer Enlightened

Vicki the bartender is a wonderful person to chat with as you sip a fine IPA...

Tim Riley

A local favorite, and as much a hidden gem as you can have at Palmer Square. I'm a big fan of the cozy atmosphere from its downstairs location. The food is good -- try the BBQ burger! -- prices are reasonable, and it's about as casual as sit-down places get in the Nassau St area. Highly recommended, especially for lunch.

Haley Poquette

Great atmosphere, awesome HH specials

Jul Szadu

The onion soup!

Leah Holt

Nice updates and good new menu, miss the cheese fondue

Thomas R

Great place for a snack and a beer - They have a very good selection of craft beers. Sunday brunch is also good, The ambiance is cozy and service is good.

Ariel Kline

The worst bar/restaurant in Princeton. Go literally anywhere else.

Dylan Klauber

Wait staff was very friendly and kind, so we didn't mind the long wait. The place was pretty loud, but the atmosphere was nice. The food, however, was only okay, and not quite worth the price we paid for it. Our waiter suggested mac and cheese as my side without mentioning we'd be charged way more for it, and the mac and cheese was incredibly bland anyway. Overall an okay experience, but we won't make it a habit.

Sheena Ranade

Food is subpar but the drinks are good!

Steven Butler

PRO: Everybody enjoyed their food which included tuna sandwich, cheeseburger, and chicken pot pie. CON: The drink specials and happy hour only apply in the bar area. This is terrible. I do not understand the reasoning behind it. Because I want to find a seat at a table I have to pay more? Also the craft beer prices are very high. Cheapest was around $9.

Travis Smith

Where the great minds of Princeton go to soften the mind.

Marigrace Ambrosia

Cute place, underground pub style right in the center of town. Great food, reasonable prices for the location.
