More upscale than the typical jazz venue in the city, though the music does appear to be less of the focus than food and conversation for most people there. The food was delicious, though portions were not very large, maybe better treated as tapas. Perfect for dates.

This place reminds me of a speakeasy. They have a toon of alcohol all around and it's out but also kind of hidden. The jazz band was great and the food was delicious. The people next to me had something that came out of a cloud looking smoke which was cool. My food was super yummy. Great place for a date...there were a lot of dates going on for a Monday night. I'd return.

So me and a friend popped over here after being told a couple of doors over from a restaurant that we only had "20 minutes minutes to order so hurry up"?! So we left ha wandered over a block and this great music coming from inside the Flatiron room we stepped in to meet a welcoming Hostess who told us while she didn't have a table available there was plenty of room if we were okay standing we gave it a shot and we were not disappointed. It was a warm atmosphere with a great jazz singer, exclusively cool menu with a wide variety of drinks depending on what you liked.. While it might be a little pricey it was a fun experience for sure. Will definitely be returning with a reservation to try out some of the amazing looking food we saw. Note: brides maid drink was on point. Thanks for cool experience

I am only giving the Flatiron Room three stars because the cocktails were good and the food was good. The host at the door needs to be more welcoming he seem bothered and annoyed. We walked inside and did not feel welcomed unfortunately. Our server was clueless and just absent throughout the night and we were rushed out because there was another reservation.. we could have walked without paying the bill non of the staff bothered to come back so we could give them the card. One of my guest had to walk over to one of the staff members. I wanted a different experience for my birthday and I left knowing I would not return, the beauty of NYC is that there are other options that provide great food and great service.

Nice romantic ambiance, fantastic cocktail selection, and classic jazz on a nightly basis without cover. The menu features vegetarian and vegan choices, and various plates that we tried were well prepared. The main attraction is the variety of whiskey and bourbon. Notable: you may purchase an entire bottle which they will keep for you in a pretty display cage, to finish in as many return visits as you wish.

Bit wanky. Trying too hard. The hostess took her job a little too seriously perhaps. And 20 dollars for a couple fingers of Talisker Storm of all things is laughable. I feel like this is what very isolated, simple people think good is...this is where your date who has never left the country takes you hoping the bill will impress. The cocktails were nice. The ambiance was very cute. The food was fine. Music was great tho largely unappreciated by the audience.

Do not go here without a reservation. The hosts went out of their way to make us feel as unwelcome as possible for dropping in while in the city for 2 days on business. It was plain on their faces that we were an inconvenience. Great food, cool atmosphere, unique drinks, knowledgeable bartender, entertaining band and kind servers. Unfortunately we only had three weeks to schedule a class before the certificate expires, and no classes were available before the expiration date. The 'hospitality' group was soooo flexible and understanding, aka didn't care at all. We'll never come here. I'll never take clients here. Zero stars if I could give that.

I was searching for an authentic, fiftes-style jazz bar in Manhattan - including little lampshades on the tables. And I found it in the Flatiron Room. There was an awesome live music performance and extremely skilled servers when it came to choosing the right whiskey. They even climb creaking wooden ladders up for you to the more rare whiskeys in the upper shelves or put your name on your very own bottle and store it for your next visits - if you can afford one.

We did not make reservations, but they went out of their way to accommodate us. The staff is superb. The food is sooooo tasty! The place is not for dancing, but we did it anyway, and the waiters returned the annoyance with smiles. We will be back.

Such a cool place. It feels like an episode of Mad Men. As soon as you step in, it feels like night time. The light is red-tinged. There's an old-fashioned ice crusher on the bar, and they have cabinets and cabinets of old liquors. There's live jazz. The ambiance is great. Reserve a table in advance. Drinks are normal Manhattan prices, like $18 for a cocktail.

They have a lot of whiskey to choose from. Be prepared to just make your own choice. The food is alright, not really the reason to come here. If you come here for the music you may be disappointed because the ambient noise of everyone’s chatter vastly masks the actual band. We couldn't even make out the lyrics of the singer. One good thing of the place is that they don’t over crowd the floor, unlike most places in the city you have room to breath. Would have given more stars had the staff been a bit more attentive, and maybe acted less like they hated their life.

Drinks were good, food was quite tasty, service was good, music was nice too. Would have rated it five stars if not for the price, which was high for both the drinks (understandable) and the food(less so) Overall a great spot to visit for an evening drink which was more value for money than the food. Appetizer portions are small for the price too. Server was knowledgeable about the drinks, and was able to go into detail about what made the drink I had special.

Let me start off by saying this place is great for drinks; I have been several times always a good drink. They make some good cocktails and have the largest selection of bourbons, scotchs and whiskeys I have seen. The food here was bland boring and just lacked salt. Macaroni and cheese had no flavor needed more cheese and wasn't hot. We had a few orders of the fried chicken and while the smoke was good the skin had no salt and seasoning. The service was ok not overly attentive though. Dissatisfied

Wandered by on my way back to the hotel and saw "live jazz". I was sold right there. I rushed back to change into something nicer than gym clothes (though it seems attire is slacks/shirt to full blown fancy). Either way you'll feel like you want to be dressed up. Swanky digs, seriously tasty food, priced right for a treat-yourself kinda day, or a fantatsic date nigt. Drinks were a pinch more than I thought, but I hear that's NYC in general. Not to mention the bartenders know their stuff. No sour mix in this joint. Whiskey sours with egg whites! Oh did I mention? It's a full blown whiskey bar too (plenty of other spirit options). 10/10. If I ever move here, this place better still be around!

We had a fantastic dinner/evening. If your plan to go to the Flatiron make a reservation, we were lucky to get a table. The food is very good we had the turkey meatballs and Mac & cheese as starters. For main courses we went for the shared table bread and meat. Besides the food the drinks are even better. On top of all that you can listen to some nice jazz in a very unique location.

The flatiron room is a classy performance bar. They serve an array of well crafted drinks while bands play on stage. During happy hour, there are 10 dollar drinks at standing tables. Food was really good. The chimichurri steak bites were delicious.

The music and live performances are great, no question. What disappoints me is that they pre-make their Old Fashioned cocktails in an assembly-line fashion. When I order an Old Fashioned, I want it to be prepared from scratch after I order it (I don't mind waiting for it). Also, the single ice cube is rather tiny, and the glass isn't a pleasure to hold in your hand (it's the same as their water glass, as opposed to a nice, heavy-bottom rock glass).

Exactly what I was looking for with a dark, but cozy jazz bar. The music is good. You can talk away all you like. It is beneficial to make a reservation ahead of time BUT they do always have a little room for walkins at the bar and a standing bar. There is a 2 drink minimum but there bartenders are class and make proper drinks very well.

Go for the music and drinks. NOT the food. Place is very cool with a sexy intimate vibe. The drinks are awesome. My husband had a whisky cocktail that was yummy and my martini was perfectly made. The Jazz was fun and entertaining. The food was not so good. The photo is of my $34 “lobster” risotto with about a few small pieces of lobster. And about as much corn as rice. It was wet and cold and undercooked.

This space is a great date spot or even better spot for quirky friends to get together. They have live Jazz and an excellent breadth of top shelf scotch offerings. I'd describe the ambiance as a mix of a saloon and speakeasy. The Blood Orange Sour was perfectly frothy, slightly fruity, and absolutely fun to drink.

Went for late night cocktails. Fairly brightly lit, which is a nice change. They have a wide selection of whiskeys (they have to climb up a ladder to get some of them), and overall lots of bottles displayed along the wall and high ceilings, which makes for an cool aesthetic. They had a live jazz band playing on stage. There's some long standing tables near the bar for sharing. The wait was only a few minutes for the standing table for 3 at 11pm on a Friday night. Service is good at the door and inside. Blood and Sand classic cocktail was nice - on the sweet side, but not too sweet and a touch of sour.

The place is beautiful. Decor and setting is very chic. They have a stage for performances. Went for New Year's Eve and it was a pre-fixed menu. The service was excellent and the live Jazz performance was very good. Very lively. Was a great evening. Well organized. Tried a few cocktails and they were pretty good. Will have to go again for a regular dinner to actually try the food eventhough the fixed menu food was pretty good. They have a large selection of wines and whiskey, so a great place for a whiskey lover, specially.

Live music every night. Classy, elegant and stately decor. The servers are knowledgeable of the menu. Great place for a couple of drinks at the bar or a romantic night out. Reservations are highly recommended and will be given away after 10 minutes if you don't show.

The server is well trained and highly rated (the stars on her vest is the indication of her training and knowledge). There was a live band for jazz music and the scene is great if you're in the mood for jazz. Great spot for spirits and to chill

Don't go for the food! This place is nice for a drink and the live music, but I found the food to be pretty awful. On a positive note, the whisky selection is fantastic, even if prices are very high. Just look elsewhere for food.

Good live music but it doesn't overtake your conversations, which is almost impossible to find in NYC. The biggest whiskey and single malt selection you could ever find, along with all the great drinks they make, tasty food, and the upscale and romantic but not arrogant ambience. What is not to like about this place? Thumbs up!

Great venue where you can enjoy a lovely meal and have a fantastic live music performance on the stage at the front of the room. The music was good, the service was friendly, and the two appetizers that I had (macaroni and cheese and turkey meatballs) were both excellent, as was the pear hard cider.

Very cool place with a nice crowd, mature -not speaking to age-and cool atmosphere. Love music every night which is mostly jazzy. Great place for a date to hold and hear a conversation. Service is ok though as it's slow to get drinks so be patient. No overpours either. Down to 2oz only.

Very nice room. Decent jazz. No cover charge, but very expensive food and drinks. Sneaky bartender switched my drink from $16 to $28 without telling me--GRRRR. Stools at bar are VERY uncomfortable.
