Everyone knows this place. It is probably the most popular restaurant on the whole island. Is it good? Yes! The menu is extensive and everything is very fresh (their turnaround is ridiculous, so it must be fresh) Great place for breakfast, lunch and sometimes dinner. The wait is crazy, but if you are on LBI, you should definitely try it. Use the Yelp app to get on their waiting list or to tell you how the long the wait is. It is very helpful . Recommended.

This place has been on our family's bucket list for several years. We got up and over to eat breakfast here by 9:30 and was informed there would be a 45min wait. Our party of 10 was sat in 30. Our expectations were high and we were not disappointed. The Belgian waffle was light and fluffy, the bacon crispy and well done. The pancakes perfectly cooked. The kids loved the chocolate chip pancakes. The Greek omelette had plenty of vegetables and feta cheese. The Heuvos Jurachos(sp?) special had lots of variety of flavors and was delicious. Having someone come around with refills for coffee was truly appreciated. We were entertained by friendly staff and would highly recommend coming in or ordering take out. Thanks!!!

Let me just start this review by saying that this is the place to be. The wings are amazing! They have a variety of wings from mild to super spicy. There is usually an hour to two hour wait at about noon time, so if you want to go, go early. whenever I go there, I leave my beach house at 6:30 and get there by 6:45, and it is not as crowded. But since this is the best place to eat on the island, it is worth the wait.

This place is great! We were visiting for a weekend in LBI and went there before driving home. We went pretty early but still had no wait with a party of nine people! I had the veggie omelette and it was delicious! Everyone in my party was very happy with their food!

Insanely good food; had the homemade chicken tenders with chicken gravy and BBQ sauce. OMGs those fries are to die for! The interior is decorated in a fun way, we had a kick out of trying to figure out which character the chicken drawings were on the tables.

Local people recommended this to us. It's nice because it's a 24 hr place on the island, which is uncommon. The food quality is decent but I think it was oversold to us. I had some standard hot boneless tenders, and they were more like chicken half breasts. The flavor of the sauce was good but the quality of the meat left a lot to be desired. The Belgian waffle I had was good, and my wife had New England chowder that she enjoyed a lot. Her omelette meal was simply ok but she really dug the chowder. Our server was a little inattentive which is probably because their tables were all over the restaurant.

It's really noisy when it's busy but the staff is phenomenal! Everyone is so nice, despite working in one of the most shoob-infested spots on the island. Never disappointed when I eat here. Might regret it the next morning, but always so worth it. Especially that you can be added to the waitlist from Yelp, I highly recommend chegg for a quick bite with friends or coworkers!

Every summer I come to LBI, we must get breakfast/brunch at Chicken or the Egg. Their food is always amazing - we got the chorizo hash and the crab omelet (special). The food was very filling and came out quickly despite the large crowd. I always recommend coming here!

Never disappointed when we go here. They have a wide variety of hot sauces. Santos sauce and garlic spice are my personal favorite! The bbq-whew thats great too. My husband loves bee-sting.

We have gone to Chegg for years and my kids love going every time. It’s a loud, fast moving place so I don’t have to worry about my son making a little noise (he has adhd) as he can be impulsive sometimes! The food is great the wing sauces are delicious and the the servers are always friendly!

The place to go when you're in LBI. Prices are great for families. Portions are large. Staff is great and readily available. They warn you ahead about the wait so be on time when they call your name. Dont wait until you're hungry to go, just go and while you wait the smells will bring the hunger. Seating is spacious. Only complaint is that vent over hostess area was loaded with dust bunnies. Wall hangings were surprisingly clean. Just go get those vents.

Chicken or the Egg catered our wedding at a local beach house. Mark was so nice to work with. His responses to emails were so fast and his answers to questions were friendly and reassuring. They showed up early for the wedding reception, set up a beautiful display of the most fun wedding food I've ever experienced. Cheese steaks, pork tacos, crab cakes, fish, clam chowder, assorted salads...all unbelievable. Friends and family are still talking about how awesome the food was. A server stayed for as long as people were eating. She was helpful and as friendly as can be. In addition to the amazing food and the friendly service, they made the whole experience completely stress free. I would recommend Chicken or the Egg for any event you have! Thanks again to Mark for leaving me feeling worry free by responding to about 20 emails promptly leading up to the wedding. You guys are awesome.

When I come to Beach Haven which is every summer.. this is the only place I stop to eat after being on the beach all day! Wings to die for! The New England Clam Chowder is amazing! Must visit on the Island!

Not only one of my favorite restaurants on the island but one of my all times favourites. I cant say enough about how much you have to check this spot out. First off the staff is fantastic, it's for a diner feel overall but with truly top notch service. It's clear how much the staff respect the resterant itself. The menu has everything you could want from breakfast Staples, to fries options, prepared in interesting ways. Their sauce options are good enough that I always keep a bottle at home, even when I have to order them during the off season. Their fried buffalo shrimp is something I look forward too all year, and I honestly don't much like shrimp. Come once, and you'll be back, maybe even the next day! (I did this when I finally braved the wait after years). The wait is worth it and they have several ways (open table app, buzzers) to make it easier. Come at off times to slip right in, or off season (open year round!).

The chicken or the egg has the largest and most flavorful chicken wings you’ll ever see and taste I guarantee it,I travel 45 minutes to get to this place and it’s well worth it they never disappoint.The pictures never do justice for the size but I purposely put a celery stick next to a wing to give you an idea of the size,and the order of onion rings are enough for 2-3 people it was like an endless basket.

Great place to eat. So many choices. I got the dragon burger. It was good but needed more flavor or seasoning or something. But my grandmother got the French dip sandwich and loved it. The fries were crispy and golden and the dip was incredible. We waited only for 20 minutes and the staff hustled to make sure we got our food and drink quickly. Overall good food, good service, friendly staff. Definitely recommend this restaurant. Can't wait to go back next season.

The server today and yesterday were both truly wonderful. Helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, and sweet as pie! The breakfast was delicious both days. Yesterday I had the Cinnamon Roll French Toast & today the Stuffed French Toast. Hearty portions and super yummy! Go! You won't regret it. It gets busy but they have really well organized systems in place for updates on waits. Plus the kitchen is quick with service. LOVED IT!

Got the grilled chicken sandwich with onion rings as a take out. The food was good but the rings were soggy by the time we got home and the chicken breast was a bit dry. I assume the food would have been better if we had dined in the restaurant instead of take out

I love stopping here everytime I'm in town. I'm a huge fan of the ludicrous sauce and everyone I know thinks I'm crazy for liking it. I've never had a bad experience here no matter the time of day. Great atmosphere great staff. This is a must stop if you're in the area!

If you're craving buffalo wings look no further. They're big and meaty. Breaded or naked. 6 of these are the equivalent of a dozen from somewhere else. They're served up hot and extremely fast. Unfortunately a seasonal place. BYOB and be sure you do. Ship bottom brewery not a long walk away and highly recommended.

We own a home on LBI. This is one of our favorites. It has the BEST New England Clam Chowder on the island. We have been on the island since 1973. Please stop by, but don’t eat all the chowder. Please support the Chowder Festival. It is held in October. Boonton Township, NJ

If you're in LBI you have to try this place! Not only is the food delicious, but it comes out super fast and is delivered by the friendliest staff. I would highly recommend the crabby omelet, which was one of the best crab omelets I have had in a very very long time.

I am reluctantly writing this review as I have a house on the island and have eaten at Chicken or the Egg for several years. Something has happened with the quality of the food being served this summer. This was our go to take out place and have ordered a variety of things off the menu.....however, tonight is the last time we will order from here ever again. We ordered the penne pasta with grilled chicken, shrimp, spinach, sun dried tomatoes and "vodka sauce" which tasted like Campbell's tomato soup. The last time we ordered, they messed up my salad, and the time before that, we ordered wings that were so saturated in sauce they were inedible. If you have kids or are a teenager I guess the food is sufficient but in my opiion highly overated and definitely not worth the wait. I guess these places that cater to the tourist season don't feel they have to put out quality food because they will get the business anyway.

I love this place. This is the place to go to if your visiting LBI. The wait time is long but worth it. I also call ahead pick it up and sit on the beach and have a picnic. The sauses are so good. There's one for everyone. The prices are great as well. The service is awesome the staff is always friendly and the food comes out quick.

One of the best diners in the area. Staff was super nice, gave good recommendations, and got the food out quick. They accept cards and but might have a long wait if you're going during the rush. I got the Cheggantor with buffalo medium buffalo sauce and it was tasty.

The food at this place is out of control. It is one of a kind and a local favorite without a doubt. This restaurant was also on Food Networks Man vs food for their ludicrous wings. This restaurant is famous for their wings and wing sauces but has a huge variety of menu items to choose from.

We tried twice to go to chicken or the egg befire we got to eat there. You MUST get on the waitlist if you plan to eat there in the evening! We tried on a Thursday night in august around 7pm. There were 72 parties in front of us when we joined the waitlist so we opted to go somewhere else and try again ithe next day. We tried again the next evening and got on the wait list. We had to wait another half an HR after our scheduled check in time. Once we got to our table we ordered right away and our appetizer came out very quickly and they were awesome! Our dinners all came out quickly as soon as we were done with the nachos. All was good. The creme brulee wasn't that great, but the huge apple cobbler was a big hit.

These new "bouncers" that Chegg has hired for late night think nighttime they're guarding a Miami nightclub, when in reality the chegg is a glorified diner. They were demeaning to me and my friends, laughed in our friends and honestly, after 15 years of all of us being customers, we will not return. Such a shame this restaurant is turning for the worst.
