This Restaurant belongs to the category of French restaurant.
Food was very good. Service was excellent. Was at a private party everything was great.
A special restaurant, intimate with a quiet clientele. Gracious owner and excellent chef. The chef remains in the kitchen cooking to ensure the quality of the food not walking around the dining tables to “talk it up.”. Memorable and transporting.
Superb French cuisine. Having lived in France for awhile, I can attest to this menu being the real deal. Great service. Highly recommended..
Excellent as usual!
Awesome French cuisine and great prices. The staff is friendly and personable.
Good food, great ambiance , a true gem in Middlesex county
Great food,great staff
After many years of passing by sofie's we decided to celebrate my grandmother's birthday with some local french cuisine. My family was very impressed from the warm welcoming hostess making our reservation to dessert. We will be back soon.
Awesome food in a French style bistro
The perfect date night in the New Brunswick area. It's a small, cozy, and quiet place to immerse yourself into your guest for the evening. The food is amazing - authentic French cuisine for a casual meeting or a full-course romantic dinner that will establish memories for years to come. Highly recommended!
Food is tasty and staff is very Friendly. I will go back and recommend.
Awesome foods at reasonable prices. Can be pretty crowded and tight when busy but definitely worth the wait. Highly recommended!
Delicious meal! Next time I order the escargot I will order a dozen instead of just a half. Two thumbs up!
Everything was good but any chance of reopening the club that used to be there would be nice again...,
Always enjoy a meal at Sophie's. The food is excellent! I've sampled the coq au vin (my favorite), boeuf bourguignonne, saumon eze (last night - delicious!) and other specialties. Every dish is prepared perfectly and served in generous portions. Appetizers, soups (like last night's scrumptious potato kale), salads and desserts are equally satisfying. Even the cocktails exceed expectations. The atmosphere is as advertised - a neighborhood bistro where the host is jovial, the staff is friendly and efficient, and the clientele enjoy easygoing good times. The only drawback for our working class budget is the cost. While not unreasonable for the quality of the product, we can't afford to eat there regularly. But on special occasions, Sophie's Bistro can't be beat!
Surprisingly good. Location doesn't make one think authentic French food, but everything was delicious. The.escargot was impeccable and there were really inventive crepes both sweet and savory.
Excellent food, and atmosphere. Great drinks!
Love it!!
A nice and pleasant French restaurant. The food here is good, and the service is great. Come here for a pleasant date.
We thoroughly enjoyed every minute and every bite! The food was fantastic, the staff were all very friendly, and the service was to notch - attentive but not overly so, patient, and knowledgeable. We will DEFINITELY return!
French food and service here is quality. Service is prompt even when they are busy. Looking forward to returning with my relatives. Prices are reasonable.
Great French bistro
Pricey but good French food
Way to much $ food was ok
Just such a charming little bistro... Love the atmosphere, the team and the food.
I really like this place, wish it was closer to me. Good atmosphere, excellent food and drinks. Owner is around, staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Good service.
Out of this world french onion soup
Comfort food menu.. Just what we needed.. Favorite restaurant ever
The food was good. Flavors spotted on! House wine was a great choice. Cocktails were a little weaker compared to other aspects. Overall, it's a good date night or get together place.
Good food, not a big selection for a vegetarian and portions are American sized surprisingly. Service is good.
My top spot for french food. looking forward to a return trip. it has a great atmosphere. they have so many great reviews for a reason.
Fun French bistro. Very nice friendly staff, clean, nicely appointed, good food and just a fun, nice place to enjoy good food and be with friends or family.
Enrigue was remarkaby
One of the best restaurants in the area.
I went there for a class trip, It was Amazing! Great food definitely would go there again!
The food is outstanding with the best escargot this side of the Atlantic.
Over price
Great place
Nice decor. Food is a bit off.
Good spot for French food. Went there on a Saturday. Nothing but great experiences here. I can see why they have so many reviews.
Magret de Carnad and lamb shank were delicious.
Good food. Good service.
Doesn't look like much from the outside but it's gorgeous inside. Great French menu options too and very friendly staff.
The food was wonderful. The staff was excellent.
I absolutely love Sophie’s Bistro! I cannot say enough good things about this French restaurant. The owner, Peter, is the best! With a cozy yet elegant Parisian atmosphere and an amazing staff, Sophie’s is definitely the place you want to go for special occasions or any occasion! And what’s most important - the food has never fail to impress. The authentic French dishes are executed to perfection! And they also have fun seasonal specials like Musselfest. Highly recommended but call in advance for reservations! They book up fast- especially for holidays!!
Despite the overwhelmingly positive reviews, our visit felt rushed and the food was not representative of the higher price point. We'll aim to try Sophie's again on a less busy night.
Good food and great staffs.
Has it been 12 years since our first "taste" of Sophie's Bistro? Consistently excellent - good food, genial staff, plus French brasserie feel. Worth a trip!
Very good food, nice atmosphere, a little pricey
Fabulous food excellent service!!!
Delicious food, great variety of French cuisine, and an outstanding staff...what more could you ask for??
Delicious French Food in a charming setting (at least inside). Seafood crepe was awesome. Cousins also praised the steak and the mushroom ravioli.
The food was amazing and the place is so quaint it feels like home.
Great food and atmosphere.
Food: 4/5 - Food is good quality, flavors were delicious, and presentations was appealing. As a whole, if I were to go out to spend $100 on a dinner, my first choice wouldn't be Sophie's. Experience: 3/5 - Nothing really to remember. X-Factor: 2/5 - I just didn't feel French in there...
We were delighted to be at Sophie's Bistro tonight for the first time. We enjoyed very much the coq au Vin, vichissoise and aubergine/chevre from a complete menu of tempting French "comfort food" dishes. Very good by the glass or bottle wines are available as well as cocktails. The ambience was relaxing, and the wait staff and proprietor welcoming and attentive. Looking forward to being in Somerset again next week so we can try more menu options. Highly recommended. UPDATE: we did return for more terrific food and servuce. Still highly recommended.
Delicious meal. Fabulous, friendly service
Fantastic little French restaurant. Very authentic. Cassoulet. Magret de canard. Excellent wine list. It feels like you're in France.
Wonderful French Bistro. A choice of daily specials and a wonderful regular menu.
I have been going to Sophie's Bistro for 10+ years, and it is fantastic every single time. What looks like an unassuming location, opens up into a great little spot, filled with French charm and cozy tables. There is also a very nice sized bar, where you can eat or drink. The wine and cocktail selection is excellent, and I have to say that the bartender makes one of the best Kettle One dirty martinis I have ever had. Yum. The fondue is a must and the escargot is super delish. Even their bread and butter is superior. You can feel free to choose any dish off of their menu of French classics...they are all a culinary delight. I love the Coquilles St. Jacques and the Coq Au Vin. Dessert: choose from crepes, profiteroles, etc. Great for a special night out with the one you love, or to go with family and friends. As an added bonus, the staff and owner are all lovely.
Excellent ambiance and top notch cuisine. This place is a hidden gem. One of my favorite restaurants in NJ. Perfect date spot if you want to impress the lady without breaking the bank.
Good food, nice atmosphere, wish some of the food I saw in pictures was available buy some of those were limited specials.
Superb food! Covers the essentials of French cuisine using fresh, seasonal ingredients. Everything was rich, flavorful and cooked to perfection.
Really good food in a warm and friendly bistro ambience. Reasonably priced wine list. A lot of tempting dishes to choose from.
Wonderful little place, our kids shared with us! Service was excellent, food was outstanding and you simply can't miss the fondue!
Really good food and nice service.
Sophie's is the place to go well run ,Pete who owns the place is the man a must go will become your favorite place
Excellent menu and great service. Quish of the day with a cup of Manhatten clam chowder and small salad was my choice and I was not disappointed. Kronenburg to finish it off. Highly recommended.
Excellent French Bistro. Very good service, very good Bistro food. Frequent menu events.
Classic French Bistro with the noisy social fun feel and yummy food. Add attentive friendly staff makes for a wonderful time.
Love the food! The restaurant is small and bustling, however, and noise may intrude upon your dining experience.
Outstanding French cuisine. Attentive staff and inventive chef. Never disappoints!
Had a very good experience in this place with my daughter. The food comes out fast and the customer service is just excellent. Prices are reasonable.
Outstanding as always. The food and the service were so on point its my sisters and family's new favorite restaurant. Its already mine. Thank you Peter and staff for another wonderful birthday dinner. You're the best!
Very refreshing and charming place. Food was great. Service was great.
Quaint and quiet date spot. Excellent French food and friendly staff. Bartender could use a smile or two. Dont mind the establishment next door, it kind of threw me off too. Order the fondue!!!
We go there every year as a tradition near Thanksgiving. Love the place. Always the same excellent food and service.
My fav location for quality french food. had a friend come into town and asked me to take him here again. prices are appropriate for the quality.
Peter has a special place here. Every time I'm in Edison area I make sure to visit Amazing food and service!
I absolutely love this restaurant, the staff, the food, the environment are all outstanding. It's a secret little place that's truly amazing in Somerset. French food here is top notch. One lunch we went there, they gave us a free crepe :D
Consistently good food !
Outstanding French bistro with very moderate prices. Worth multiple visits.
Always excellent.
A bit on the pricey side yet the food is superb.
My husband always wanted to try this place. It is coming up on our 28th wedding anniversary so we went. What a great surprise. The food was exquisite and the service was excellent. It will be my new go to place to eat. I can't wait to go back to try some of the other items on their menu. Worth the drive if you are not from the area. I would highly recommend it.
Great food. Nice atmosphere. A little pricey.
Food is fantastic, atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, terrific dining experience...recommend it often to friends, who enjoy it as much as I do!
Surprisingly good... exterior makes you think dive bar but cuisine and menu are pretty sophisticated
Good food. Nice people.
Great food but expensive
Great food and service, Deb is the best!
Awesome French bistro.
Quaint atmosphere delicious food
Good, unpretentious French food and a lot of fun. Sometimes Sophie's can be a little loud and the tables are a bit crowded, but food is great and service also very good.
Oh my gosh! This warm and welcoming Bistro is an experience in itself. The service is impeccable to say the least as we found our every need cared for. The food, where do I start? Delicious is too generic a word to describe the savory and herb filled flavors of the warm and hearty meals served to us. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a warm, rich, home style, Bistro dish that carries with it a list of impressive wines, beers and spirits to satisfy all palates. Many kudos to the wonderful staff and very personable owner of Sophie's Bistro. Oh and a special thank you to Max, he made our welcome even greater.
A charming restaurant serving wonderfully prepared French dishes. The staff is friendly and attentive. All in all, this was a memorable dining experience.
Peter and the family at Sophie's delivery the highest quality food in a warm, french bistro environment. Try their house red and burger!
Atmosphere was great. Food was good. Too many beans and not enough meat in the cassoulet. Drinks were good and the staff was excellent.
Awesome place. Must recommend!!!
Authentic French-style Cafe and comfort foods in a setting conducive to conversation. A great place to relax with a glass of wine after work. Very responsive service and a friendly front of house. Soup and hot dishes were hot and flavorful. Free and accessible parking.
Staff is very attentive, food is delicious and prices reasonable
Outstanding as always.
Food is good but pricey. We went for the fixed price brunch on a Sunday. They do give you a lot of food, neither of us could finish our meals. The place was not crowded but service was very slow. We were seated quickly but then waited an uncomfortably long time just to have water placed on the table, then several minutes more before anyone came to see if we wanted drinks, had questions, etc. I'd been here once before and had much the same experience. The food is good and it's unique for the area but don't expect to get warm and friendly service. They're not rude but they're not welcoming either.
Bonn appetite
Completely disappointed. We tried to reserve a wedding reception for 30 people and the manager was not willing to work with us. She wants the reception to happen on Saturday from 2:00pm - 4:45pm and she cannot move any tables. Additionally, she wants us to pay $8 per white table cloth. All of these additional cost surfaced after we expressed that we like to reserve. At best the food here is mediocre.
French comfort food in a comfortable setting. This is the excellent beef bourguignon.
I love this place. The food is so delicious especially the incredible crepes and lamb shank with wine sauce and couscous. It's extraordinary. Don't forget to try the Pate Maison. Delish! Great service and wine menu. Quaint for date night or business dinner.
great ambiance and solid french food in a casual setting. cocktails are good but a bit sweet, if you're in to that kind of thing
First time at Sophie's Bistro and it was quite enjoyable. Greeted by owner upon arrival, sat within a minute of it reservation time, and greeted by a waitress very promptly. Service was very good and it appears Sophie's uses a team concept for wait staff as multiple waiters and waitresses supported us throughout the meal which proved very effective. Food was also very good - appetizers included escargots, beet salad, soup of the day, and a fried Brie all of which were very good but the beet salad should have had more than two beet slices. Mains were sliced lamb breast, beef bourguignon, and salmon all if which were very well prepared and tender. Though we didn't order dessert, the opener brought a fish of crepes to us along with a sip of a house made liquor as an appertif. Sophie's is not a BYOB and has a full bar which you can sit and dinner at if you choose. Wine selection could offer a few more French wines but was otherwise a good offering and the bottle of white we had with dinner was served at a perfect temperature. All in all, this was a very enjoyable dining experience and I'd absolutely go back.
Been going here since...forever. Great food and great staff. Cannot say enough good things. Even if you come for the first time, it feels like family.
Very nice establishment always clean and the service is great.
I visit this spot a lot since I work in the area. I got to say their customer service is always awesome and they keep the spot neat all the time. Prices are fair and they serve large portions.
Great food, staff and owner. Heard about it for a long time and finally got there. Did not disappoint. Definitely going back!
Great place for a delicious meal and quaint surroundings. Always good food and service.
Wonderful ambience! Good variety of entrees. Food was delicious!
The Scallops were deliciously prepared! Escargot out of this world! Atmosphere is always relaxed and pleasant. Highly recommend it!
I have never had anything less than a stellar experience here. The food, drinks, service, and hospitality were all wonderful.
Excellent place!
Incredible food, great atmosphere. One of my favorite restaurants in the entire state.
Friendly staff and good food.
We love this place! Their Vol au Vent Fruit de Mar is outstanding! Such a delicious treat to reward ourselves for a hard day at work!
Wonderful atmosphere, like a French bistro. Great food and service.
Can say enough about this special place. Food was beyond words: seafood with puff pastry, escargot, steak with fries and their flan, omg
The food and atmosphere were stellar. Can't wait to go back.
Excellent place with impressive food and service. A little bit expensive (should be $$$ on Google Map) but definitely worth it!
Went for Mother's Day brunch. Had a great meal and a nice chat with the owner, who was very friendly.
Staff was excellent steak was cook to my liking vegtables were fresh
Very good food, excellent service, warm and friendly!
Great food, great service!
I'm French and I have to say I LOVE the place. The food is delicious, the team and the owner are so nice and the decor is just perfect. Such a great attention to the details. I close my eyes and I'm in a lovely bistro in a quaint village somewhere in France. I highly recommend!
My favorite French Bistro.
Enjoyed Sophie's immensely. Charming decor, delicious meal and friendly service. A little gem in Somerset NJ.
Painfully hip but fully earning the right to be. Hard to go wrong with anything on the menu but if you're not sure, get the duck.
Ordered the 16 oz porterhouse pork chop and it was incredible! Service was great and the owner is extremely friendly! Highly recommend!
This is a cozy french restaurant. Being a vegetarian i normally dont get much to eat or so i thought, but everyone was very accomodating and offered a number of options i could try from the menu. Had a fondue chesse special which was very good and quite filling. The profiterols was excellent. Definitely recommend
Great experience, loved the casual yet sophistocated atmosphere. Duck special and lamb dish were disappointingly sweet, but could just be my lack of French cuisine awareness. Nice place overall.
My girlfriend has been coming here for 14 years. And after finally going myself, I can understand why. The food was great, the wait staff incredibly friendly, and the owner made you feel like one of the family. Spectacular.
Great service
Absolutely delicious
Excellent food...excellent service...my favorite French restaurant in town ...keep the great work .
french food and the feeling here is great. The service was sociable and attentive. Kinda of like a place in Houston that I enjoyed.
The best duck around.
Bastille day dinner. Food very good, service though is amateurish and rushed. Bill was presented before meal was over. No coffee on price fixe menu. Cheap move.
For a top notch French food experience in the middle of nowhere. Wine list is extensive and fantastic. The owner, Peter, was extremely friendly and gracious! Even offered us some of their house made rum drink (to die for!)
get there fast before it is all gone! Mac and cheese was wonderful. We ordered an order of it and shared it for an appetizer. Heaven in a crock!
Very good French bistro where the owner and servers are engaging and friendly. Nice variety of entrees and desserts. The lamb was tender and delicious. For dessert we had the Sophie's Chocolate cake which was rich and delicious. Would definitely go back.
Fantastic place. Excellent house chardonnay. Duck and lamb dishes are highlights.
Once of our favorites. Great French food. The Coq au Vin is to die for. So is the onion soup. Staff always friendly and professional.
