Visited red basil today but wasn't impressed with the food. The family that worked there were very friendly. I ordered the spicy basil rice w/chicken ( chicken was very dry and no flavor) drinks were served in old plastic cups.

Tried to get a vegetarian meal since there were so many positive reviews about vegan/vegetarian options. Was very disappointed with food and felt it was total waste of money. The red curry had an odd smell, it had some fish or oyster sauce and was definitely not all veg. The curry rice was flavorless. Rice was under cooked and dry. The person who answered the phone was in a rush, not interested to take the food order, she hung up couple of times while we were in the middle of asking her a question, very rude even when she responded to the questions. They could have at least told us that they don’t have vegetarian options instead of giving false assurance.

I love the convenience of visiting Red Basil but the lately I've noticed that they don't have the heat on during the winter. It is FREEZING in there. Also, the scallion pancakes and veggie dumplings serving is ridiculously small for the price. It's literally two dumplings cut in half so it looks like four servings. They taste great but I refuse to order them again. Definitely a rip off.

As a child, I’d come to this place and eat Thai food here. From the pad thai to the spring rolls, the food is a beautiful memory of my childhood. The decor is simply beautiful and classic to the Thai culture. Definitely recommended if you’re trying to find Thai food around the area.

First and last time ordering from this place. I had ordered a lunch special that contained chicken breast and I did not get chicken breast. The meat was pale and dark. It had jalapenos when in the menu it was categorize as an non spicy dish. They didn't have salad.I threw the food away. My coworker ordered also and did not like her food either. Also if you order $15 or more you get a free drink and we didn't get that.

The customer service was great however the food was very dry. I ordered the basil fried rice and Pad Kee Mao and both were very dry. It need more sauce added to really add the flavor. I had really good Thai food in the city. They don’t mess around there. Oh and the first time I went they offered the bubble tea with the meal. The second time they didn’t have the tea available. So that was a problem for me. If it’s supposed to come with your order you should always have it.

I had lunch at Red Basil today. I have been to Thailand and know the Thai taste. The food just didn't seem right. I ate the meal with little satisfaction. About 90 minutes later my stomach began to tighten up and then the pangs began. You know the feeling like I swallowed a knife reeling with pain. I fought the pain off for about 30 minutes. Then I ran to the bathroom to see if I can release some pressure. It was like a cork popped. I sat there twice emptying out. What a relief. Afterward in a cool sweat my body began to relax. This was a memorable experience, not a good one.

The lunch special portion is small. Order beef spicy fried rice, the beef is rubber tough. Waste of money.

The Thai is lacking. I wanted to order a bunch of stuff from the place being it was my first time and I spent around 60 dollars the pad Thai was okay it was just really sweet. The drunken noodles were horrible I got it with the pork and it looked and tasted like dried out boneless pork ribs from any crappy Chinese food spot. The dumpling had a really overpowering herb taste. The "Thai wings" we're fried in nasty oil with Frank's sweet chili sauce on the side. (yuck) also the area I picked it up in was hard to find parking.

Great cozy place, with authentic, delicious tai cuisine with good service. been here many times. good location, easy to get to, plenty of street parking around. usually dont need a reservation and you can also order take out. personally I like the curry puffs and massoman curry chicken. enjoy!

I've been visiting this spot for a few years now, the quality of the food is great and reasonably priced.. more than reasonably actually. The staff has always been super friendly and attentive. I recommend the duck salad, their thai chicken wings, and all of the appetizers are great. Try their Thai tea also, it's an amazing beverage with a great flavor. Take care.

First of all they have nothing spicy, but sweet. The reason am making this statement is, I ordered Red curry that is suppose to be double spicy as per menu and also i did mention i want it really spicy when i order, but what i got is a sweet red colored coconut gravy with 4 small pieces of chicken on it. And the amount of rice they serve is very little. Note : To much coconut, even in soup. If you have cholesterol please stay away.

Food was awesome. This is the first time I've ever eaten in here, and it felt like most of their business is delivery and pickup. There was only one other eat-in customer whole I was there. It was a Monday night, so that could be why. That said, the curry was excellent, the salmon dinner was excellent, and I'd highly recommend this restaurant for Thai food.

All hail good Thai restaurants with vegetarian duck! It's delicious and plentiful. I've been to the restaurant twice which is tucked away on a side street behind bustling park ave in Rutherford. I hope it can stick it out but there's only been one other table full both times I've been here. There's just so many options on "main st" that I just can't see it making it.

Cheap lunch. Didn't expect authentic Thai by any means but not a totally bland food. Chashew Chicken and thai salad was my lunch. The salad was with peanut sauce which was ok. The cashew chicken tasted like Campbell soup with cashews and onions. Regular long grain plain rice not Jasmine rice. 2 stars for service.

Hands down my favorite Thai Restaurant. The staff is always nice and food fresh and delicious. UPDATE: They just lost a star from me because they messed up my pick up order after I repeated it several times that I wanted TWO pad Thai and not spicy with the sauce on the side. I got there and realized they forgot the other one and the staff member said they could make it right away which they did. It was finished in about 5 minutes. The staff member didn't seem apologetic or accommodating. They should have given us our 2 Thai teas for free for the inconvenience. When I ate it at home, the second one was SO spicy. I literally could only take 4 bites. Still my favorite place but need to work on customer service.

Just ate the veggie green curry and it was delicious with fresh crisp veggies. The curry was delicious with complex flavors and had a perfect level of spice. They asked me from 1 to 5 the spice level i wanted and they were on point. Great casual place for thai.

Tasty and healthy Thai menu! Try the pad-see-ew with beef and jumbo shrimp with Panag curry sauce. Yum! Crowd pleaser. Lots of local groups of people frequent this place. Definitely a good sign to try it if you’re in the mood for good Thai!

Pretty good food, my brother loved his curry and we thought the curry puffs and icecream were really good too. The meat in my rice could have been less tough and dry, but otherwise this place was really nice and we're definitely coming back.

I wish I could give less than 1 star. They charged my card and after they were 30 minutes late I finally called them and they claimed they didn't even get the order. Don't bother unless you are on a diet and are happy with paying for no food at all. Revised: After I called and complained they magically delivered barely warm food in less than 5 min on an order they claim they never received so not only is their service bad they clearly lied.

The only reason I selected a star was so I could post I asked if the chicken dish I ordered was spicey.. I was assured it was not... really.. Well it was spicey I did not recognize the protein.. my friend identified it as pork... I told the waitress I ordered chicken.. she told me it was chicken... mmmm Its all in the presentation... well Mystery meat ... looked like it was boiled.. and well disgusting Rice... looked like it had been cooked in dishwater. I tried the chicken.. I was honestly disgusted..."I was told it was the Chefs Special" I did not eat it nor did I take it home... long after I should have been offered something else.. I was.. too late, my friend was finished with her meal... They left my meal on the bill. I got up to use the ladies room ... they had a fan plugged in across from the wall to a table.. well I tripped over that not expecting to have to be looking for such obstructions and it fell on my foot... Don't take the chance... pay more .. drive further... walk in a differnt direction.. They should have at minimum removed it from my bill!!!!

We were looking for a restaurant near to us and this one was looking good and they were supposed to be open until 9pm , when we were walking thru the restaurant , a women came to us saying that we need to order to go because they closed at 4pm and we came at 3:10pm with hungry and very dissatisfied for the way that they received us!
