Nice place for lunch or dinner, great pasta

Absolutely horrific. If I could give 0 stars I would. Hair in our food, raw meatballs to a four year old. We waited two hours for our food, and asked multiple times to bring the children's food out first and it came with the rest of the food, more than two hours later. Appetizers took an hour and a half. My brother turned 21 and we ordered ONE round of shots and we were "drunk and loud." Prices were outragious for mediocre food. My family and I will not return and the owner was DISRESPECT and RUDE! We actually considered this place for our rehearsal dinner but will NEVER return. Patricia's of Holmdel is a MUCH better italian restaurant with better service & an amazing owner.

Lena Nicholson

This place is a hidden gem. Great food and friendly service. They also make FRESH gluten free pasta. No one does that! It's amazing!

I don't write reviews unless the experience is either really great or really horrible. Oddly I have lived down the street from Piero's since 2011 but had not gone until this past Valentine's day- And I am really regretful I did not come sooner. The atmosphere is nice (albeit different), the service attentful, and food some of the best I have ever had. Last Saterday it was extremely busy wherever we tried to get a table- each restuarant had a 45 minute wait or more so we decided to call in to Piero's who does not take reservations- Well, they asked how far we were and said they can hold us a table and take us right away- On a busy Saterday night! When we go there, the couple that was supposed to leave never did so the hostess took it upon herself to "Make" us a table by the waiting area- who does that? Very accommodating. On both visits the servers were extremely down to earth and attentive. May I say also that this is the only place ive been to in a while that serves REAL drinks- not the tinker-bell, overpriced, ripoff portions at typical franchises. For the food quality, you can't beat the price. This place is great and I will be going to it frequently.

We were passing through the area before they officially opened and they allowed us to dine there. Friendly staff and homemade pasta dishes for everyone to enjoy. I tried the Winter Salad special with scallops which was delicious. We had complimentary bruschetta that was delivered to our table before the meal as well.

The new owner did a great job remodeling the restaurant, and I cant wait to see what he does with the new bar. The wait staff is very friendly and the food is great.

If you order soup based clam pasta and other seafood pasta, your body will go into shock due to high salt content. The food is way way too salty. The service is very slow. Watch what you order.

Jacqueline Kaslov

My husband and I have lived in Union Beach for over 15 years and I wanted to eat somewhere local, boy was I glad I googled This place. The food was out of sight Nyc standard high grade quality products, but most of all the new owner/chief Michael is a honest to goodness all around great person. He came out and chat with us a bit after dinner and you can just see the passion in his eyes for what he does. The staff was friendly the atmosphere pleasant. I'm looking forward to returning very soon. Sincerely Jacqueline & John

This was our first visit to Piero's after a change in ownership a little over a year ago. Our waiter told us the new owner was one of the Three Amici owners from Long Branch - so we were looking forward to our dinner. I had the Sunday sauce - special request - and asked that the chef select the pasta. My wife got the zuppa di pisce with linguini. The Sunday sauce (a traditional Italian meat-based sauce) was quite good with meatballs and sausage. But the ziti so seriously overcooked it was actually floppy. I thought that perhaps this was forgivable since the pasta was all made from scratch. However my wife reminded me the ziti was the only pasta that was not made from scratch. My wife's suppa di pesce - made with linguini - was also way over-cooked and a bit bland. She thought maybe it was missing wine - but perhaps it one man's taste against another's. When the chef came by to ask about our meal I told him the sauce was great but the pasta over-cooked; he actually said I don't believe in al dente, it just has to be cooked right. Speaking to my wife he said, "But your pasta had some bite to it, right?" "No, it's pretty over-cooked," she answered. Typically, managers or chiefs apologize when a patron is not satisfied, but he seemed to dismiss our concerns. I even invited him to stick a fork in it to confirm, but he demurred. Anyway after chatting for a bit more he said "Can I buy you dessert?" So my wife and I cheerfully said sure, we'll take two decaf cappuccinos. He stepped away to handle something and passing back by he said, "You wanted decaf expressos, right?" "No," we said "two decaf cappuccinos." Sure enough, he brought two expressos. We didn't want to make a scene - nor did we want to chance drinking regular expressos - so we paid our check and left. Clearly the new chef/owner does not pay attention to details. Unfortunately, we will not be going back to our one-time favorite restaurant.

Fantastic food and service, not crazy expensive, certainly worth it. Friendly, efficient staff, cozy but spacious.

Went for a comedy show. The comedian was funny but the food and service was below par. It included a 3 course meal but they sold out of the 2/3of the dessert options. The subbed a mediocre dessert plate with cake and cannoli instead.

Sindi Blitzer

Tried the Osso Buco special and the stuffed pork chop. Both were delicious.

I went here for a repast of my aunts funeral. The chicken was dry, the sausage and peppers were dry, and hard. The cannoli was water, and had no flavor at all. It was the worse cannoli I've ever had. I didnt even eat it. I read a couple other reviews about leftover scraps, but this was not late in the day at all. I gave 1 star for the bartender Tony,He was great.

Erica Mcmanaman

We had an excellent meal last night...the food was delicious - took the family and we had the stuffed pork chop (a must try), the filet mignon, veal Milanese and some salads to start. My younger daughter had the kids chicken with French fries and loved it. We didn’t have dessert as the meals took awhile to arrive and it was getting a bit late (not complaining as it was nice to relax and have a conversation without being rushed). Our server Mary was great- very friendly and accommodating with my special requests. Only complaint is that it’s not a BYOB and the food is a bit pricier than our usual go-to’s. Highly recommend!!!

Bob Vena

Excellent food ....service and atmosphere ! My favorite place to dine ! And the waitstaff is amazing ... Thank you Patty for great service !

Ed Striedl

Very good meal and service.

John Monaghan

Over priced, less than average food. Live band was way too loud. Drinks from the bar took forever to get table. I would have only given one star but the service was not terrible. Will not be returning.

Piero's is the best in Hazlet, and better than quite a few towns, maybe. Authentic and delicious food. The pricing is appropriate. You don't get a discount on great food, and theirs is worth what they charge.

Would never go back there again. The foods good but our waiter was really so bad. Another thing the music was so loud we found ourselves yelling at each other rather than enjoying a quite dinner out. Maybe a piano singer would have been better. What is sad the chef from Three Amci bought this restaurant and he happens to be an excellent cook.

Will never go here again or recommend it to any one. 1 week before our rehearsal dinner for our wedding the restaurant re negged on what we originally agreed upon months prior. We had close to 40 people and were told we would have the big room upstairs, once we called to confirm a week before we were told that since we didn’t have 40 people we could not have the upstairs room. So we were crammed into a tight space shoulder to shoulder, it was so tight in fact my wife and I could not sit amongst our friends and family and had to ask the waitress for a high top bar table in order to accommodate everyone. The owner was a rude know it all who spoke to my wife and mother very disrespectfully. Hindsight is 20/20 and we should have cancelled and went somewhere else where the food is much better. Happy to never give them my business again and steer anyone who asks far away. Good job Pieros!

Frank Crincoli

Excellent grate five stars.

Ronald Denig

I know there's not a lot of options around in Middletown for an Italian restaurant, but that's no excuse to not have exceptionally tasty food to match the tasty interior. The meals which which are $20 don't come with a salad. We ordered the penne vodka with chicken, sausage and peppers and Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, you get 1 sausage link and one small chicken breast with each dish. The sausage was supposed to be in red sauce it wasn't, the onions and peppers were not well done as requested. The sauce in the other two dishes were no better than jar. Monmouth dinner has a better sauce and 2X the meat for around $13.00 and you get a salad.

Just dined this past weekend for the first time in years. The new owner himself greeted us and he is so nice and accommodating. I encourage anyone who has been to this establishment in the past to re-visit and let Chef Michael cook for you. The stuffed pork chop strivecchio was unbelievable!!!

Recently came In for a visit, hadn't been there in years! Loved the new turnaround with the new owner, definitely better than when piero was there. We got the calabrese for the appetizer and recently found out the fresh mozzarella was made by Sal, which they call the fresh mozzarella guy, outstanding work by him! Then for our entrees I got the Penne Vodka, definitely some of the best pasta I've ever eaten. My husband got the porkchop, he loved it but couldn't finish lol. Then for dessert we got the cheesecake cone, I've never eaten something so good before! My husband wound up getting the tiramisu, which was incredible. All in all such a great place to eat and don't have any complaints, Michael the new owner even came out to greet us and thanked us for coming!

Shane OConnor

Great place to eat! I stopped in for the happy hour at the bar, the bartender Timea is excellent and makes the best martinis in town. The calamari is one of my favorite there on the happy hour menu. I will be going back for more!! Great place, great food, great service!!!!!

My dinner was very good but what made it very good was our waiter. I wish I had gotten his name. He was exceptional. He is an African American and my hats off to this man.

Zebra Xylophone

Good food and service. I came here with my family for mom’s birthday after spending a few hours at Sandy Hook. Lindsay was our waitress. She definitely went above and beyond- she put balloons on my mom’s chair and she wrote happy birthday in chocolate on mom’s plate. The owner, Michael also came out and checked on us. He was pretty chill. I felt bad for him though because my sister got drunk and was flirting with him. (Apparently the martinis are good here) She also left him her number. I had to hear about how cute she thought he was for the ride home. Hopefully he didn’t call her. Haha.

Anthony Panzica

Food and service were both excellent. Had several parties there and was never disappointed with the food or service.

Ralph D'Antonio

Started off great, until the bill came. The Food was good, full of variety. One of the bartenders accused us of not paying the bill even though just before our server gave us our card back and receipt. Also no manager around and really high price for a sub par brunch. We had proof that it was 25 per person and we were charged 40 a person. It was not worth 40 a person. I'd rather spend 40$ at McDonald's and better service. Piero's was not well represented today.

Kelley DeWise

Too expensive for the portion they give Eh I've had better!!!

Wendy Massaro

Food is amazing! Espresso martini rocks!

I have been coming to this restaurant for over 15 years and last night, Christmas Eve, was the worst it has ever been. New owners took over a few months ago and have ruined it. Yes it may look better, but that is not what brings a person back to a restaurant. First, we get there for our reservation (we wanted an earlier time but we're told they were "booked") and there were numerous tables open so our earlier time could have been reserved. Then we get our usual waitress upstairs and think everything will be fine until we order our food.. We wait a long time over 30 mins for our apps, only to see that the portions have shrunk, then after waiting another 45 mins to an hour (lost track of time watching others complain and a table next to us got up and left while waiting, I wish we had that option) to get our entrees only to see that these portions were even smaller than the apps. The kids meal was for a child under 5 I guess because no 8yr old won't be hungry after what was served... Felt terrible for the wait staffcause when asked about this they had no answers and not once did a manager come upstairs, they had to know what was going on. All and all a terrible experience and after 15 years of going to this establishment j can honestly say we won't be back...

Worst Easter brunch ever! Made reservations for the last brunch seating- and only had leftover scraps to choose from. Last seating should have the same choice and quality of food as the first seating, since we are paying the same fee. Embarrased to have taken my guests there. We all left hungry.

Great food and service. Highly recommend!!

Ron Rindsberg

We had a wedding party dress rehearsal dinner. The food was decent my only issue was it was extremely hot in the area that they sat us. As part of our package there were suppose to serve coffee with desert, but it was late in the evening and my party started leaving before the coffee could be served. I mentioned it to the server but was told its not there fault that the party people left. No discount was applied

Madi W.

Great place! The new owner made some changes and the restaurant looks great. Warm, comfortable, and classy atmosphere. Reasonable prices for very good, authentic Italian food. The bartenders and waitstaff are friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Vast improvement from the last owner. Definitely would recommend!

I normally don’t post reviews on social media but I had exemplary service at your establishment. This was my first time at Piero’s restaurant. We ordered the stuffed mushroom recommended by our waitress, Cheyenne. And what a hit they were! Then my husband got the stuffed pork chop which was to die for. Our waitress was such a pleasure. She had my family laughing and her bubbly personality really made the experience one to remember. We felt like we were eating with family rather than a restaurant. If you haven’t been to Piero’s, we highly recommend giving it a try because you won’t regret it. The service and food are amazing. We can’t wait to come back!

Adam Carney

Always solid and delicious. I'm sure there's plenty of "back story" with those negative reviews. Certainly, there can't be complaints about the food from people who know good food. Timmy always guides us the right way when we eat at the bar. Like having a spy in the kitchen! She's a great bartender. See you soon!

Jade Evans

I have never written a review before today but I wanted to take the time to do so because my experience was quite remarkable! I used to frequent Pieros's before the ownership changed years ago and I was weary of returning due to my love and patronage of the previous establishment! Let me start by saying the atmosphere was much improved from the old establishment (although it was a little dark)`. I had an amazing pork chop, succulent and tender, my partner enjoyed the seared scallops with risotto. Great portions btw for those weary of the price. Our server Ron was exquisite and quite knowledgeable of California wines. He paid the finest of detail to the table despite having many other customers and he truly gave the experience of a fine dining, upper-class feel beyond the class of the restaurant itself. I will definitely be return and bringing friends.

Will Ortega

Just got home from my daughters baptism party. The staff and food were amazing. The fried calamari was one of the best I've had in a while. Thanx for the great service..

Jessica Viscuso

Carol Fiorianti

We hosted my daughters bridal shower here and we had a great time. The staff is wonderful and the food was great. Used the champagne fountain and the guests loved it.

Peter Schabert

Salad and service very good. However, expensive scallop entree was inedible and should be removed from the menu. Scallops were frozen, way over cooked and served with unappetizing polenta. Will not return.

babymoonlight x

The food is excellent, even down to the bruschetta served first. The portions were huge so you definitely get your money’s worth. I enjoyed the cozy, romantic ambience and our server, Kate, was wonderful as well. Overall a great experience.

Okay experience. Food was not worth the cost.

Carl fazzi

Disgusting food, old salty frozen and reheated. Waiter was very nice atmosphere nice order cocktails they never came no bartenders even though the place was empty on a friday night, Salads was good, but the main course were just salt old frozen more salt food. Waiter even tried it and said way to much salt, he gave us all free desserts. Unfortunately they were gross, icecream smelled like moth balls, once again frozen stale cheese cake . I'm amazed this place stays open owners should consider new line of work take pride in your business. Hire a chef, dont serve disgusting salty old food.

Been going to Piero's for over 10 yrs. on Valentine's Day and it seems like the most recent owners don't have a clue what good service is. One waitress for 12 tables and a hour and twenty minute wait for our food, are you f---king kidding me,and what's with the 3 hostesses needed to do basically nothing. I really resent paying $28.00 for a plate of Romain salad with my 6 pieces of chicklet sized peppered tuna. What a joke, the old owners ran things much better.

Laurie Spencer

Food was good enough, but service was just plain bad. We booked Christmas Eve dinner a month in advance, asking for downstairs seating because an elderly member of our party has breathing problems when climbing stairs. They put us upstairs anyway. Our party member said she was ok, but still. Why do they ask if they have no intention of accommodating the request? We were greeted by a woman with a big smiley Merry Christmas! then handed over to an unsmiling, seemingly confused woman who couldn't figure out which person in our party of six she had already taken an order from, asking the last one if she had "changed her mind" when she gave her order. Of the six, two orders were wrong. Three of us ordered different versions of the same pasta: one, a gluten-free pasta with no cheese, another, the same pasta with no meat and no request for gf pasta, and the third the same pasta with shrimp. What we got were two gluten-free vegan pastas and one with chicken. I accepted my incorrect order, missing the cheese, but my friend sent hers back because she really wanted shrimp, not chicken. Our waitress was nowhere to be found, so we waved down the Merry Christmas woman to help us. However, it was a good ten minutes before our sixth party member got her corrected dinner. Mind you, we were seated at six and the upstairs dining room was still pretty empty. They also forgot two side dishes we had ordered, and we had to wave down the Merry Christmas woman to get them, too. No one ever came by to ask if anything was ok, or to ask if we wanted to order more wine, which we discussed but never got a chance to order. However, we counted, and the first woman hollered Merry Christmas to us six times total from the time we came in until we were walking down the stairs. At $18 for a dish of meatless, cheese-less pasta and $23+ for the other dishes, this stuff shouldn't happen. We have dined there in the past and liked the food, but if they don't care enough to provide professional service, I don't care enough to spend my money there again. Will find another place next Christmas.

Brian Romano

Best pork chops ever. Good atmosphere very comfortable

CC Rock

The stuffed pork chop is the best meal I've ever eaten in my life. The service is great and they are updating the interior. They have live music sometimes too. My favorite spot.

Adam Wakal

Always great food

Susan S

I will not be going back. Just went for dinner and comedy show. The service was just horrible! I've never seen anything like it. The food was inedible. The soup was supposed to be pasta fagioli but was actually some sort of seafood bisque - good thing I'm not allergic to seafood although I could only eat one spoonful because it was dreadful and full of soggy croutons. The steak tasted like a lump of coal and the mashed potatoes tasted like bargain brand instant. I ordered the cannoli for dessert and it, too, was inedible. I'm not really picky about desserts-I usually love them all. Maybe the food and service are better downstairs but I won't go back to find out. Worst meal I've had in years. The comedian was funny so at least we had a few laughs.

Rick Pennington

Food was very good. Prices were higher than expected considering the atmosphere and the less than attentive service considering the place had very few customers.
