Great food, friendly counter people but I called for a pick up and the person on the phone was more preoccupied with the conversation in the restaurant rather than taking my order. They kept yelling out to their co-worker without having the courtesy to cover the phone. I got to the place about 20 mins later and my food was not ready even though I only ordered a small Mei Fun. People that ordered my food kept getting their food before me. They really to organize the kitchen line better!

I always pick my food up. No logic behind it but I do. Never nasty always hot and fresh. The only issue I have is that the egg rolls are just OK(not enough seasoning for me) Other than that my favorite is the house lo mein and general tos chicken.

Poor service. If I could give them 0 stars I would. The employee (female) was extremely rude, when we called for an update on the doordash order. She wouldn't let us speak with the manager, hung up on us and when the food arrived, more than 1/2 the order was missing. We ended up receiving a full refund for our order. There are too many Chinese restaurants to deal with the horrible service from this one. Won't order from here again.

I was overcharged due to the restaurants error. The manager and cashier worked very diligently and graciously to correct the mistake. I even got 15% off my meal. I love they in combi platters you can get brown rice at no additional cost. Love this place!

I have not been to the Original Number 1 Kitchen since at least 4 months before the renovations. Today I opted for one of my favorites 1 pint of Shrimp Fried Rice and 1 order of Fried Chicken Wings. My wings were hot,fresh,tasty and the Shrimp Fried Rice was perfect. I can't believe that every crumb went into my stomach. Thanks for never letting me down since the 80's.

Tonight I ordered General Tso Chicken and it was NASTY AS ALL ****.... The chicken was soggy and dry. It’s like they didn’t wait for the oil to get hot and just dipped my chicken in the oil and then threw sauce on it and packed it in the container..... Normally I would have a problem with them forgetting my drink when I order so tonight I called to remind them. I feel like they messed my chicken up on purpose. I am officially done with them! Never AGAIN will I order from them!

This place is a gem, point blank...I've been coming here since I was a kid and have never been disappointed. I actually, now bring my kid, and she loves it too!! The portions are extremely generous and the price paid for freshly cooked Chinese food is unmatched. I'm biased towards the combo platters because you get a bunch of choices, which allow you to switch it up a bit. After their extensive remodel I feel like it's a really nice place to actually sit down in, for a quick bite. People giving this place bad reviews is straight BS

Used to like this place a lot but the quality has gone down significantly. I was prompted to write this review after having to go to the hospital due to food poisoning after buying a fried Chicken wing and french fry meal. Most recently a delivery that had the blandest/ uncooked food yet. Don't know why the quality went down so much but I won't be ordering anymore from this place.

Me and my family have been going to this restaurant for over 20 years. I am glad No. 1 Bloomfield has gotten so many positive reviews, they deserve it. I guarantee you if there is ever a problem they ALWAYS correct the situation. I am grateful that no matter what the weather, or day of the week, this place is ALWAYS open. They will deliver even when the weather does not permit it. That's called dedication and great customer service. That is why when they come, I try to give a good tip, you cannot expect these people to cook the food, drive it to you, and give them pennies. I have never dealt with anyone there with attitude. And, it's a beautiful thing when you walk in there and see the diversity of people working there. I could go on and on, bottom line, this is THE best Chinese Food, the cleanest place, and wonderful people.

Never tried the food here so this review isn't on the food, just on the service I received from the people that work there. I called in my order at 6:30 pm on a Monday. I asked how long it would take and the person on the phone said 20 minutes. I get there at 7:05 (35 min later) and my order wasn't ready. I asked the person at the counter how long did she think before my order was ready and she said 5-6 minutes. Ok no problem I'll wait.. 25 minutes later i ask again is my order coming out and her response was "well we're busy and its not ready yet". I was on my dinner break at work which was the reason i called my order in so that i didn't have to wait so long. I had never eaten here before and wanted to try it after hearing from coworkers how good the food was. Needless to say i left and went to Subway instead because i could no longer wait for an order that at this point was called in an hour ago. The person at the counter had a terrible attitude and only seemed to be nice to people that she knew. I understand being busy, but don't say 20 minutes for an order when its really 45 min to an hour for an order to be ready. What made it worse is that I saw people that walked in with me and placed an order at the counter receive their food while i was still waiting for an order that was called in.

This place has 2 ways of getting food: one is a buffet-Like part where they have about 10 options to choose from. The second option is to order like you would regularly do at most fast food Chinese places. The "house special Mei fun" I tried was really good and would definitely recommend, the chicken wings with pork fried rice wasn't just "ok", and the house-made lemonade was too sweet, almost undrinkable. Overall an ok place.

I ordered from here twice and both times I had to request a refund from my bank. I ordered rib tibs with fried rice. The ribs were dry and very tough so I could not eat or enjoy it. I called and spoke to a manager named hanif. He said unless I bring the food back I would not get a refund. Nevermind it's the next day as I ordered late and when I called no one answered. I told him I already threw it out. There was no apology he was very rude and I told him it's all good. My bank happily refunded me and it's a lesson learned. I thought back to when I ordered, a customer was yelling about how bad his food was. Don't waste your money or time.

Where do I begin? This restuarant has the absolute best Chinese Food in the tristate area. Hands down! The food and menu selection from 'soup to nuts' is impeccable, very tasty and fresh with buffet options to boot. They recently underwent a renovation... the upgraded lay out is just great. You can take out, order for delivery or dine in a relaxed atmosphere. Most noteworthy, aside from the delicious food, is the owner's business model and acumen. I travel this country coast to coast, including Hawaii and have never witnessed a Chinese Restaurant that employs personnel reflective of the diverse populations in the community and country. This is commendable to say the least. Every staff member is extremely courteous and friendly and seem to enjoy working at The Original Number 1 Chinese Kitchen. The owners are extremely approachable and engage the patrons and just make you feel extremely welcomed. I was there last Thursday and Friday night as I just couldn't get enough of their food. It's comfort food at it's best!!! The Original Number 1 Chinese Kitchen should replicate this model in a chain nationwide, truly! Guess one might guess how much I love this place.

I have eaten from this place many many times in the past 25 years. Unfortunately, since they have remodeled and hired new staff the service and the food quality has been extremely poor. I placed a delivery order "DURING DELIVERY HOURS" , and an hour later received a call stating they there was some confusion as to whether it was a delivery or pick up order. I finally receive my order and my chicken is raw. When I called back I was told to text a picture of the food. I did so accordingly. When I called back and asked for a refund, the "MANAGER" : HANID JAMES told me that it is 10:45 and he wants to go home and if I want my refund to bring the food in the next day and he will determine whether I should get a refund or not. Sadly, ever since the owners have made all of these changes the place has gone to the toilet. The rice was extremely mushy and tasted like they spilled a whole container of salt and hot sauce in the pot. I will NEVER spend money here ever again! I am extremely disappointed with the service especially when I spent $50.

Original Number One is THE BEST, freshest American Chinese around and the only one I order from. They're typically busy, and for good reason, but they always give accurate delivery estimates and the food always arrives hot. I've been ordering here for over 25 years, since I was a kid, and they make everything with care. I'm a vegetarian and I love the veggie dumplings and you dishes but my family, friends and girlfriend love the whole menu from fried chicken to traditional American Chinese fare like lol neon, chow fun, shrimp fried rice, chicken with broccoli etc... You can't miss with O.G. NUMBER ONE!!! Don't play yourself, their iced teas and lemonade are dope as well and made with home brewed oolong and lemon juice respectively. No powdered mixes.

Was very disappointed. Haven’t been here in years. Was in the area so I stopped by to have what I remembered was great food. The place was sticky. Everything you touched would stick to you. The food looked great while I was picking it from the buffet but that’s as far as it went. Rice tasted as if it had been reheated as it was dry and crunchy. Chicken was extremely chewy and the broccoli was soggy. Very disappointed in my experience as I was expecting so much more. Didn’t even bring up the fly situation by the tables by the window.

Visited on April 22, 2019. Standing in line I interacted with Sammy (female) who was staging the food behind the glass. While waiting with my wife and two kids, Sammy began to take the order of the person behind me even though I was obviously in line. The person behind me told Sammy that I was next but she continued to take his order. I let him go in front of us (he was very apologetic). Being the only ones on line, she proceeded to take my order, meanwhile, Tyla (the female cashier) kindly walked over as she can see Sammy giving bad customer service. Sammy then messed up my families order twice and when I asked for certain food she seemed bother because she needed to change serving spoons. I didn't say anything to anyone but I like to give reviews. The staff is very kind with the exception of Sammy. I do recommend this place but I also recommend retraining Sammy on proper customer service. Tyla, who appear to be problem solvers should be rewarded. Thank you Tyla for your kind assistance.

I can’t believe the treatment that was given to my sister and grandmother. There was a young lady there (in which I have her picture) who was very very nasty speaking to us. She had no good customer service skills at all. I believe she couldn’t hear what I was ordering, so instead of asking me to repeat myself, she keep repeating nastily what? What? Not even to mention nobody was wearing gloves preparing food. She was touching food with no gloves and that’s a big no no. Soooo unsanitary. I asked her for her name because of the rudeness, and she refused to give it to me. This is how you guys treat your customers? I won’t be back. To top it off, she began to speak to a coworker about me saying rude things. So now I get called names from a place Im spending my hard earned money. I suggest She needs to be trained again. 1st time visit- disappointed-Buffet food server- young Asian man with glasses was not hospitable and rude. Food in buffet cold, dishes not available, rib tips were dry w/o sauce, chicken and broccoli was good, chicken wings tasty but over cooked and dry, rice was ok. The made to order line was busy. If I were to try them again...I would never do the buffet but try the made to order. The customer service at made to order seemed very friendly.

Ordered from the place... After 45 mins I called to see where my food might be since I live 7 mins from the location. I was told that average deliver time is 1 hour for the restaurant. I was informed of this like it was common knowledge and I should have expected it. So my question is you average delivery time is 1 hour so 50 percent of the people wait more then an hour? Do you want to wait more than a hour for your delivery? Order from any of the hundreds of other Chinese restaurants in the area of you actually want dinner in a reasonable fashion.

This place has the best chicken wings. My 14 year old son loves the half chicken and ALWAYS gets his favorite ( french fries) and usually white rice. My husband especially likes this place because they actually make brown rice. He's diabetic and likes to eat healthy whenever possible. We order from here quite frequently, cause I don't cook that much lol, and we are never disappointed.
