This old-school classic pub has no sign outside and gives no indication of what lies within. It's a "you have to KNOW to know" kind of bar. Inside the lighting is low, the juke box is classic rock with a touch of country, and the crowd is mostly locals - no pretense found. Known for their award-winning burgers, excellent fries and hefty corn beef sandwiches - you'll often find local firemen and police officers parked at the bar. As far as the beer selection goes - it's the usual mix, some IPAs and some classic PBRs for those who don't like "fancy." Winter is made sweeter by a roaring woodstove fire and warm weather extends the pub to a covered outside patio, complete with wooden spools as tables and plastic lawn chairs. Refreshing option for those in Jersey City who are sick of $18 martinis and a NYC transplant crowd.

If you want an old school pub, this is a great place, it's easy to miss it since the building from the outside looks like there's nothing there but don't be fooled. There's no parking, but its a bar so that's normal. When I used to work in the area, I would come here at least once a week for this places giant hamburgers. If you like burgers, this place is a must try for this reason alone!

I came here for the1st time Friday night 04-12-19 with my sister in law and my friend. She recommended it to us. I ordered the Burger well done, my friend had the corned beef and my sister in law had the burger medium well. The burgers tasted delicious and so did the fries. The corned beef was good as well. The atmosphere was great. It reminded us of our recent trip to Ireland. However, the place perhaps is just a bit too dark to see things. The service from the bartender was very pleasant and he introduced us to the way we should order. Yes we will def come back here again.

Great place with a homely touch to it with wooden chairs. Also, great seating area in the summer. Finding this place in the dark is a little tedious as there is no sign that points this place out but I guess that's what makes this place UNIQUE. Beers start at $6 & burgers are freshly made right in front of you. They cost around $6 as well.

Best burger in JC, hands down. It’s no frills with the basic types of toppings. So go downtown if you want a pulled burger topped with pork bbq sauce, caramelized onions and gouda on a brioche bun. Also the corned beef sandwich is awesome too. Fries are thick cut.

Never judge a book by its cover. We were brought here by a friend for dinner. Let me tell you, if not for that, I'm sure I would never have stopped by ever in my life. The facade is definitely questionable. I was skeptical even as we approached this place. However, that all changed once we stepped foot inside. The place was very warm and welcoming albeit very dark until your eyes adjust. The service was very friendly and atmosphere was relaxing. The menu is very limited but nothing wrong with that. We ordered the corned beef and burger. Both were very good although I preferred the burger more. Definitely check this place out. You will be pleasantly surprised.

New Park Tavern had been on my list to try ever since I moved to Jersey City and heard of their burgers. It turned out to be one of the darkest bars I've been in, which helped our condition; except for the door being open to the back patio, the light came from some dim lamps. The bartender was nice albeit aloof, but then again it was easily understandable why. Poor bastard works the bar and the grill. Think your job sucks? Think about doing it along with working a grill. No bueno. Subsequently it took him awhile to get everything cooked with him serving people at the bar in between. The burger, while overcooked, was moist and flavorful. There was a bit of seasoning on it but not too much. The beef was decent quality and had a good meat-to-fat ratio. It reminded me of the kind of burger my mom makes. The bun was decent too along with the greasy-ass bacon. Even the frozen fries were pretty good. This wasn't fancy but it was good and it allowed me to function for the rest of the day, even if it wasn't the world beating burger some make it out to be. This meal hit the spot at the time, I just wish the hype hadn't been there. A place like this does best when the expectations are low or non-existent.

Park tavern is your classic Irish bar , they lost a star for being cash only. The drinks here are decent sometimes pricey but who cares when they have the BEST CORN BEEF ever! I mean besides the famous Katz who don't use mustard seeds there's no other place I know that can compete. The burgers are also better than any fancy gourmet burger spot in the city , and cheaper. Simple burger on a roll , I'm pretty sure they also use Pat Le Frieda beef and have been doing it long before that was the "it" thing or popular thing to serve. Bobby is particularly good around the grill , it may take a while to get your food cause there's sometimes only 1 guy working doing everything , be patient and wait and don't complain it will be worth it.

After article in Jersey Gigs. We wanted to visit so called "gem" On the website it says they open from 10am till 2am. We were there after 10.30am and bartender almost rudely told us that they will open at 11am. Burgers are simple and overpriced. Definatly not coming back again. Forget about costumer service, bartenders looked annoyed and berely said hi.
