Had very bad experience. They charged me 13.98 for biriyani and it was not even proper basmati rice. Its plain rice mixed with mutton curry which is basically not biriyani. Charged 17$ for chicken kabab that was not fresh and you can tell that by smell. Do not recommend this place

2 things. I ordered Biryani a few times. I like it mild and I specify on the order. Despite my comments, the rice came in red in color. It was so spicy I had to throw it away. I double checked my order and it did say mild spice. I did not bother returning it because it's already wasted my time. I did order again a few weeks later and this time I called to specify the spice level, I got a lamb biryani. The meat tasted nothing like lamb and I think they gave me goat. I had someone else (an indian friend who eats goat) to try it too in case I was wrong about it. It was NOT lamb! I hope that's a mistake and you are not feeding people with goat when I'm paying for lamb. I'm sorry but you wasted too much of my time and money for me to reorder there.

I had a surprise birthday party at this restaurant with family and friends. The buffet style setup was beautifully prepared for us. There were many different dishes of Indian food that we enjoyed including: Vegetable Samosa (vegetable turnovers stuffed with green peas and potatoes, Meat Samosa (turnovers filled with minced meat), Patata-wada (deep fried balled potoates with peas), Chicken Tandoori (chicken marinated in yogurt, herbs and barbecue sauce), Chicken Reshmi Kebab (boneless chicken flavored with onions and ginger and barbecue sauce), Seekh Kebab (minced lamb seasoned with onions and herbs and barbecue sauce), Kheer (indian rice pudding), Chocolate Pudding and Ice Cream. This is the place to go if you like Indian food.

came here for a late lunch the other day. the atmosphere was great! very clean, spacious and the buffet food was fresh and yummy. there are two reasons i didn't leave 5 stars... 1) the tikka masala was too sweet and seemed a little burnt, like it should have been stirred throughout the day more often. it was just okay. 2) one of the staff members was going around sweeping with a broom and got right up to my table and was sweeping underneath my chair and feet while i was eating, kicking-up dust and rubbish into my food....another customer saw it happening and asked him to stop just as he was moving towards her table. otherwise, a decent meal. not terrible.

The food was good, the service was trash. Possibly racist too. I'll start by saying I'm not accusing the staff of racism, however their behavior led me to question the possibility. So why is it the staff felt the need to block the exit after I asked them for the check? I'll admit I was impressed by their strategy. The tables were clearly set up to block anyone from being able to dash out on their check. Very clever to have two men stand at the exit; they immediately dispersed after I put my card down on the table. I waited to put my card down to confirm my own suspicion that they would move as soon as I dropped it. Upon putting my card down, not two seconds later was it retrieved by a staff member from behind me, the two men dispersed. I was being watched the entire time. Obviously this restaurant has had to suffer through dine-and-dash's prior to my visit. I want to know what about me informed them that they had to go on the defensive. Was it my age? Was it the way I was dressed? Was it my color? My advice: try not to be so obvious next time. You were about to get a tip. Here is your tip. PS Every time I eat at a restaurant I'm directed to sit where the seats have some sort of defect. This time was no different. One of the chairs had a tear in the seating. I can't be sat at a quality seat for some reason...

It's one of the better indian places in university city. They waste a good amount of space in a chaat bar which no one really touches because its just too much effort to make your own chaat. Their spread for Indian sweets was more of a compromise.

The food here bites back which is a good thing when you're used to bland food. Only thing is, after 5 visits or so, it's trite, music too. The only thing you need to keep notice of is the servers who constantly stare at customers while dining and secretly make bets concerning the customers. I don't know about you but I loathe it when one feels the need to stare at me while eating. It's as if they don't know how to eat and are taking visual notes. So annoying!!!

CUSTOMER SERVICE: Friendly and attentive staff. Sometimes though, it's bit too attentive, if that's even possible. The waiters will be eager to refill your glass of water even though there's still 1/2 the glass remaining. Sometimes it was a bit too frequent of an interruption between conversations, but certainly can't complain over their willingness to keep you hydrated. ATMOSPHERE: Clean. VALUE: AYCE dinner for $13.95 is terrific and definitely well worth it. Years ago they also provided dessert with their buffet, a selection of ice cream which was awesome. I really miss their "culfi" ice cream, which was a pistachio vanilla type of sorbet ice cream. They no longer offer dessert with the buffet, unfortunately. EATS: Delicious! They're always consistent with having a lamb or goat dish. Can't go wrong with tikka masala, but they're lamb saag is amazing. OVERALL: Great place to go if you're craving Indian cuisine and have the appetite!

Food taste great but delivery is terrible. Multiple attempts at having food delivered to the hospital only for rude service and driver unwilling to bring food to lobby of hospital. Been a loyal customer but if service doesn't improve we will no longer buy from here

I had the worst experience with them in terms of customers service. I was ignored the hole time i was there starting with bot being able to order as non of the waiters was willing to take my order although the restaurant was empty except for one other table and they had plenty of what it seemed to be unoccupied waiters. I was never treated this bad. I came by myself and asked for a table. I had to call multiple waiters to order. Whenever someone comes to me they just call somebody else. I was just trying to order. I ordered a chai and samosa. They served me the chai first and then one of the waiters brought the samosa in a box. I told him that I didn’t order to-go! He was so rude he didn’t even bother to fix the situation and apologize. I asked for the bill and he was late. I turned my face to realized that he was just talking to other guy while my bill was ready!!

If this review was solely based on the taste of the food I would gladly give New Dehli 5 stars. The customer service is what earned this restuarant 3 stars. My mother and I walked into the restaurant for Indian takeout. When we got to the buffet a member of the staff rushed up to us, said "table for two" and pointed to a table, No greeting. I repeated that we were not dining in today. After this interaction, my mother and I proceeded to create our platters and the employees suddenly felt the urge to take turns mixing the food. A couple minutes later the entire staff came from the back, stood by the check out counter and stared at us. If you thought we were going to dine and dash you could have gotten an extra star just for taking a more subtle approach.When we got to the checkout counter, they baged our things and we paid for the food. Before we left my mother asked if he had given us utensils. Seemingly irritated the cashier replied that he put them in the bags. We bought 3 platters today and only recieved two sets of utensils. Thank You New Dehli Restaurant!

Not an authentic Indian restaurant. I along with a friend of mine, ordered the basic vegetarian items on the menu - paneer masala and garlic naan. The garlic naan was good but the paneer masala was very watery and tooo orange in color with no flavor. To top it off, the gulab jamun was sour (never came across that before). If you are looking for an authentic Indian restaurant, I’d suggest you look for another restaurant.

We've been coming there for years. But tonight was a little different. Almost a rude like atmosphere. We ordered 4 buffet meals, 4 people. At the one of our guest wanted wine and to pay for someone else at our table. No receipt was issued but they continued to question the other people if they were going to pay. and never brought the wine. The guest had to go basically explain that she'd paid and never got it. They checked our table as if we were lying. The wine was like grape juice. The meals are always amazing. But customer service was absolutely questionable tonight.

Food was good here. The buffet spread had lot of items both for Veg and Non-Veg food lovers . The ambience was also very nice. Staff was courteous and friendly enough. The only issue we faced over weekend was parking space outside this restaurant. It took a lot of time to find the space because of which we had to rush as it was the closing time. The food was amazing!! We went for our anniversary and we were shocked at how good the food was! We shared samosas as an appetizer and thoroughly enjoyed them! All of the dipping sauces offered, reminded us of a trip abroad. We each ordered lamb masala and naan. The naan was fresh and so soft and delicious!! We left full and awestruck at how wonderful the food and service were!

I am a regular visitor of New Dehli Restaurant, possibly the best Indian-style cuisine in the area! New Dehli offers a comfortable, modern dining area in the heart of the University City section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A reasonable selection of foods are offered in a buffet setting, the food is regularly replenished and is always fresh. There is a limited alcohol selection for those who partake. The staff is friendly and social. The facilities are kept clean and is always a wonderful experience!

They had a few dishes from the buffet I really enjoyed and the goat curry was especially good. But I must give criticism to their naan bread. They let it sit on the buffet for a while where it gets limp and unappealing. The better buffets will serve a basket of naan bread warm and fresh out of the oven to your table. The price is right, except on the weekend where there is a huge markup. Go during the week.

Nice location, and great environment to go to. I went here for a birthday treat and also tried Indian food for the first time,. I wasn't quite sure what I was going to be eating at a few other places we thought about going to at first, and most locations only offer a buffet for lunch hours. So --- my friends decided this would be better beings they offer a dinner buffet and explanation of the food you can choose from. Deserts were good too, liked the mango ice cream. :)

Been going here since the late 80s. The food, service and atmosphere are perfect. The owner is a very down to earth person. The food is always fresh and it's one of the best Indian Buffet's there is on the East Coast, IMHO and ive seen em all from Boston to Miami. And whats cool here is Everybody from every culture and ethnicity eats here. and everybody is very welcome here. Patrons range from families and students to local young adults, hipsters, artists to middle aged persons and older, college professors and even business professionals. Prices are moderately expensive for lunch hour buffet $10.99 or 11.99+tax/tip to a rather pricey dinner buffet pricing for the same buffet food items which is priced at either $12.99 or close to $14 per person after 330pm, i think. But double check that. They're sadly closed on Monday's. Parking is on street ane metered which is the only drawback to this place as far as I see it.

Just tried delivery from them. It was great! I would give more than 5 stars for their delivery service if I could. It arrived under 30 mins. I ordered goat biryani and mango lassi. Lassi was awesome! It was made with a lot of mango purée than the usual restaurant quality lassi. Biryani was different. The meat was well cooked and the rice was flavorful. It was very aromatic with curry leaves and whole cashews which you do not usually see in a traditional biryani. It didn't taste like a regular biryani. Well, there are literally hundreds of varieties of Indian biryanis, so cannot complain that this does not taste like one I am familiar with. Very satisfied with the overall experience!

The food here is quite good, and there is a lot to choose from. The buffet is a great option, so you can sample many different dishes for a set price. The buffet varies by day, so while there are constants, other dishes may or may not be available that day. There are also some items like chicken wings and spicy French fries, as well as salad fixings, that might appeal to kids. The food itself is very well prepared, and of delicious quality. The sauces are rich and flavorful. There are both vegetarian and meat options. The samosas and naan bread are always fresh and warm. Plenty of sauces to put on the side as well. There are desserts, but I usually just have more chicken tikka masala instead. Highly recommended. Lots of seating, too.

This Indian buffet may be the best in the immediate area, but it doesn’t measure up to other options around Philly and the suburbs. The spread offers ingredients to make a decent salad and plenty of overall variety for vegetarians. However, the proteins, specifically chicken, lamb meatballs, and goat, weren’t quite the quality we’ve come to expect from other favorites in the area. Also, the size of the buffet is small. This means popular items frequently run low. Aside from the food, they do have a well-priced alcohol menu. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a diner with plenty of tile and a few flat screen tv’s, and the staff quickly cleared the plates. If you’re craving Indian and have to stick to this specific area it’s worth a visit. However, a 20 minute ride will present many superior options.

Hands down THE BEST Indian food you will ever eat without actually being in India!! The food is as authentic as it gets, and there's a buffet! There is also the choice to order off the menu, but whatever you choose it will be cost effective. They serve both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. How can someone mess mixed vegetable! Naan seemed as if cooked a month before, kept frozen and then served. Avoid this place at all.

Best Indian in Philly, hands down. The food is always on point and the service is excellent. Since I was introduced to this place 3 years ago, my good friend and I have made it a monthly ritual to come here for the dinner buffet (they have a regular menu too, but the buffet is hard to pass up). I have never had a desire to frequent another restaurant on a regular basis like that, but here you crave the food if you are away for too long. Normally I am not a big fan of buffets, but at New Delhi the food is always fresh and since they are usually so busy the food isn’t out for long before it’s needing to be replaced with a new batch. If you don’t believe me, go to order off the menu and as soon and you see and smell the buffet you’ll be sold.

This place is below average. Nun, the most important part of indian cuisine, is mediocre. It feel like chewing a gum. Separate order of garlic nun doesnt improve the quality. Curry is okay

We have been dining here for 15+ years and it is always a great buffet of Indian food. There are vegetarian options, inexpensive drinks and a menu of you don't want the buffet- but definitely get the buffet!

Absolutely love this all day buffet. cheaper for lunch, $2 random beers, delicious desserts and entrees. Great salad bar as well. Come here weekly. Went to a few other buffets in the area but nothing beats the chicken wing pakoras
