I stopped in to place an order for take out. The overall appearance was clean and inviting. I was greeted immediately after entering. As I was looking at the menu, I asked for a recommendation and with no hesitation they offered suggestions. After ordering, they invited me to wait by the seating area. Once my food was ready, they walked over to me with my order and thanked me again. The food was delicious! It was my first time there and not my last! Thank you for going above and beyond with your customer service!

I had my lunch buffet yesterday, they had the best Punjabi kadhi , and paneer pass day. I love to come there cause they had more vegetarian option and not very very spicy like you ate at other Indian restaurant. Overall will give 6 ❤️ .

Great. It was my mom's birthday so, without be asked, the waiters got together and sang Happy birthday and play music over the loud speakers. It was a welcomed surprised and it lifted our night up higher. The food is just great. You would think that because of the slightly smaller portions, the food would not be filling but to my surprise- the food was very rich. The location is good. Right next to regal and other places. The price were reasonable.

Terrible customer service experience - please be aware of the owners who lack any empathy. We had planned a community event, which unfortunately we needed to change the date due to a unforeseen death within the community. I am only writing to attest to Deepa P's review as well as add my two cents :). Dear Management , Please stop calling my community "fake". It is not a good way to support the many families who USED to frequent your restaurant. Second, please acknowledge the TRUTH. You changed your initial response to Deepa P.'s review from "fake review" to finally admitting the situation in your response. In addition to ignoring our many calls and text messages, not ONCE did you ever offer to change the date of our event. We also tried to offer you several other options so that it would be a win-win situation for both parties - NONE of which you were accepting. We too are a community full of business men and women who all understand the implications of "running a business" that you eluded to..however, "running a business" also means building a relationship with your customers.

Food is OK but sometimes they serve stale food. This restaurant must remember and reiterate Gandhi's words "A customer is the most important visitor on our premises and not a nuisance...." They have no sense of apology or respect for the customers. There is a reason behind a negative review just a thought to think about. Horrible customer service. We had reserved their banquet hall for a community event. Paid 400$ deposit. Month before the event one of the community young member passed away suddenly. Lisa, co owner was not willing to work with us in trying to change the dates of the event, let all alone give our deposit back. All we were asking is to have us push the event 2 months back. No humanity at all. Not a fake review.

My family comes here at least once a week, if not more. We've also had several birthday parties in the banquet hall. Very affordable, VERY delicious. We have tried many Indian restaurants and this is by FAR the best. We usually order vegetable korma, chicken tikka masala, aloo gobi or sag aloo, garlic naan, and the tomato cucumber salad. Also, Ashok is the BEST server. He's so funny and everyone at this place is so nice and we just love them!!!

We attended a wedding at the Shagun banquet last weekend & loved the experience we had as guests! The stage was set up beautifully, the food set up was pleasing & convenient, the staff were doing their respective jobs really well, we loved that as guests we had waiters who catered to us & just in general the overall experience was great! For the management & staff to go out of their way to cater to our requests, especially keeping in mind our faith, was commendable. My family & I highly recommend Shagun banquet a perfect choice for a wedding/ event venue!

If you're looking for an event hall that gives you the best bang for your buck, with respectful staff that goes above and beyond for you, a beautiful hall, delicious food, flexible accommodations, and an experience you and your guests will remember for years to come, I would 100% recommend Guru Banquet for your next event. We hosted a wedding at Guru banquet a few weeks ago. Words aren't enough to describe how phenomenal the experience was. From the onset, the owners were wonderfully accommodating and the chef ensured that our food was on point. Guests raved about the food, and we appreciated how professionally and kindly they handled our dietary restrictions—Our event decorator, went above and beyond. At 2 AM the night before the event, she made last minute changes, providing us with a proper (and beautiful) velvet partition down the center of the hallway as a solution to a concern we had. We trusted her with recommendations for the stage and she delivered beautifully. On the day of the event, they respectfully kept our faith in mind and made us feel welcome and comfortable. The event went on without a hitch and guests were impressed by the food, the waitstaff, the accommodations, and the way they catered to our faith and allowed us the best experience in a beautiful place. Can't thank Guru Banquet enough, from manager to staff.

We booked a baquet hall for a party and this review relates to that experience. 1) Food: We went for a buffet in the party. The first round of food was very good. Seemed and tasted fresh. However, as it was being refilled, food was really bad. Not just 1 dish, almost all dishes were very old.. it seemed that they converted some existing old dish to be similar to what we had ordered in buffet. Food was stale and ofcourse didn't taste good. Special mention about the chicken biriyani- it sure was atleast a week old. 2) banquet hall: they promise DJ system/Microphone in the hall. If you go there relying on this, Im sorry - you will have a bad experience. We almost had a war with that microphone to make it work. Otherwise, this hall can hold about 75 ppl. 3) attitude of the manager: keeping our story short, this lady challenged us to write reviews online and how she doesn't mind them. This place may probably get people flocking at them irrespective of the bad reviews , but I want to write this for records. The way she kept counting guests inside the hall - imtruding privacy in all means. She made decisions on who was whose spouse!!!! the way she argued/yelled - wow! Sorry guys, I wont recommend this place anymore. You have to improve your customer service.

just like to say about this banquet hall, in which we booked for our daughters sweet 16, first the owner of this place was awesome he was very polite and very knowledgeable, from day one he gave us a price, and what the price included, servers, tables, chairs, bartender, plates, utensils, table cloths and napkins, cake cutter, and the hall all included in the price. which I thought at first there has to be some form of hidden fees, and there were none. He's staff was superb and very friendly, and accommodating. the food was great, and let me just say the food was good, and plentiful, and the leftovers were given to us at the end of the night. Wow! I would recommend this banquet hall for any occasion, management were awesome they periodically were checking in on the party, even the staff had a few dances with our crowd. We felt safe and we were treated very good by the servers and the main guy who always asked how we wanted things done, from the cider to make the toast, to cutting the cake, so I would give this place a perfect 10. Thanks again guys and keep up the great service.

Great spicy food at great prices. Never had spicy palak paneer before, but I enjoyed the slow burn and the taste. I would say not enough rice for the amount of paneer and chicken tikka masala you get when you order takeout, but I cannot complain about the taste of the food or the spiciness of the dishes. Delicious! Also, the naan's texture was a bit off, but it tasted great.

Was planning a Diwali neighborhood party and this is to confirm that Deepa P's review is NOT fake. This just goes to show how ridiculous their management is, and how greedy they are for money. For such an unfortunate circumstance to occur and for them to not have any humanity is absurd. Will make sure nobody goes here for their terrible service and terrible food as well

This Place is really nice the owner was very helpful everything he said we were going to have we had the day of. I recommend this place and can honestly say it's worth every penny. I only wish the waiters were as nice as the owner, regardless I would definitely consider this place for my next event. Guru Palace is a place where you would feel home if you chose too. The moment you enter the first thing that you would notice is there is always someone to welcome you with a bright smile. There are chances that the welcoming person is the owner or the manager with whom you might end up getting involved into conversations after conversations. The next thing is the ambience which will amaze you with nice flooring, a unseen chandelier, led lights in the walls, lovely chairs, couples room with swing chair, comfy booths, waterfall from sealing to the floor, music collection along with all of the above makes it a perfect place to dine at, etc (because I am sure I am missing so much). Now, let’s talk about the main thing why someone goes to a restaurant, it’s basically food. The food has always been my favourite of all that I specified. Whether you go there for buffet or for main course, there is no one who is even closer to the kind of quantity, quality, taste and service they offer that to at a highly cost effective pricing. When I am there I sometimes wonder what else do I want in life : ) A perfect place to party, get together or simply jump in to have the mouth watering food. I have been travelling internationally because of my work and I should mention this, the kind of service you would get at Guru Palace is rare to be experienced elsewhere. I guess people who are writing bad reviews about this place don’t have a sense of appreciation and are greedy who have been looking or asking for too much in the price they pay in exchange of food which is anyways super cost effective. This kind of people should go to other restaurants and specially non Indian restaurants, that’s when they would definitely understand what I have. Guru Palace you guys Rock!

Starts with one liner "its a pathetic and blunder" Have been to this place for private events like birthday or get together as well as proper lunch. Had a lunch buffet, the worst in that area. Taste wise its so avg, not so rich by spices that indian food known for. Consider the avg food and the taste that they serve in either events or lynch/dinner area. NOTE: Found once goat hair from the goat curry, pic added. Even shown to the waiter, who was so ignorant (said it happenes once twice) and even didnt throw the curry from the buffets area. Also very next day someone asked a question here in google review mentioning about hygiene. Food - 2/5 Ambiance - 2/5 Service - 1/5 Cost - 1/5 Think twice thrice before going here, i havent seen lots of customers everytime.

I came here to attend an event from Canada. Their banquet is well designed moderate, chandelier and cove lights really bright up nicely designed ceiling cove LED lights. Food quality was excellent. I really enjoyed got curry and lamb-chop, Individual-level service was really good. The servers were making sure all used plates removed. Tava chicken was a bit dry Fish curry and garlic shrimps were -All delicious

We had a recent lunch party at Guru palace. The owners are sweet and nice to talk to. We confirmed 2 times for our booking and again a 3rd time for theme. On the day of party, we walked into with everything ready. They even put a sign since we were in the smaller hall. Food was good even though starters were too spicy. I don;t remember telling them about the spiciness so I give them that point. I have only 3 major complaints and reason for 3 star review.1. Women's washroom flush was not working but they repaired it. They promised us DJ, but all we got was a faulty music system. We could hear the music but the lyrics/sound(not sure how to explain) was low. We could not make-out what song was playing. That actually spoiled the whole party for us. Last the cake was cut up slowly and brought very late. All our guests were asking where is cake? That was embarrassing. But I guess, you get what you pay for. Will I don another party here, not sure. Lastly, we were charged a service tax on top of agreed price, which was not communicated earlier so this came as a surprise.

If I could give zero stars I would...especially for customer service. Be very careful about the owners who are money hungry and lack empathy for their clients. It’s very convenient for them to write ‘fake review’ every time they get a bad review. However I am attesting that the Deepa P review is very real. We are part of a large community and we were planning our Diwali party here...big mistake...owners are keeping our deposit and not even allowing us to change our date ....we had a death in the community and could not celebrate during this trying time. Cold hearted people with no business sense...they should’ve named the restaurant Karma...because what goes around eventually comes around.

I never been here before we had my son’s 1st Birthday party 2 days back! I just went by friend’s suggestions and guess what I was not at all disappointed:) We had about 35 guest plus 7-8 kids and they had a nice party place which we decorated and with their own setup the decoration was a charm. Food was very nice as all my guests were very happy and gave their feedback too so my vote is high for this place. It is also decent in price and most important you don’t need to worry about cleaning part. They are also very responsive when you need anything during the event.

I gave a review 5 months back with a positive note (hence you may see some positive response from Guru Palace). I was recently on a party with about 70 people. The food was abnormally bad, and this was the second worst food ever I have had in an Indian restaurant in the US. It was not only stale, but unbelievably lousy. I did like the service though, likely a sardar who definitely refilled several times. However every refill was literally junk. I did not have a pleasant experience as before talking with the manager/supervisor prior to the event. I will highly not recommend anyone to book this place, unless you want only a lost cost buffet with a cramped space, or until, they change not only the food but attitude towards customers. Now that I leave this negative feedback, I am most certain they will not take it, or even look at it - they will sideline calling it fake, as they did for others! which shows the attitude.

Went with Vibhor for a pre-celebratory lunch before the new car. $11 for buffet. Plenty of vegetarian options available: dal makhni, Chana masala, navratan kurma, kadhi pakoda, vegetable of the day( eggplant based), paneer makhni and matar pulao. Everything tasted good. Special love for sambhar which was the best I in a while. Also, garlic naan served on the table was fresh and soft, I ate one without any curry so good. One star deducted for desserts. Both gulabjamun and custard were sub-par. Kindly work on this aspect and this restaurant becomes a great spot for Indian buffet. P.s. the dining area is pretty but the restrooms looked like they do not belong to this fine place. Consider improving the appearances?

But for party I don't recommend. It was disaster, I had to eat home food after coming home.

Guru Palace was the saving grace for our engagement party. It was the best part! The staff are kind, quick, and helpful. The head that night and came to me every so often to get info on when I needed certain things brought out. They also checked with my fiancé to make sure everything is ok. The Hall was beautiful. They let us come in early to set up our own stage and centerpieces. Everyone told me the bar was not a long wait, either. Indian and American guests LOVED the food. At the end of the night when they were cleaning up, They also sent us home with all the leftovers!! I just want to remind you to tip the waitstaff because they work very hard. it was perfect! I strongly recommend if you have to host an event, but actually want to enjoy it, too

Celebrated my son's birthday party couple of years back. It was terrific. Management was very accommodating and fulfilled all our requests. Of course food was fresh and awesome!!!

One of the worst places to be . No respect for his vendors and guests . The owner is a moron and repeatedly got loud even when I was trying to compromise and explain . does not have manners on how to talk to people . I will be following up with the better business bureau about the business practices . Then threatens to call the cops but doesn’t do it because he knew he was wrong . And instead of apologizing and being nice and being a man he continues to be a drama queen.

Staff is attentive, polite and quick on their feet. The food is always served in a timely manner and consistently delicious. Best around in my opinion. I've now been coming here for over a year almost exclusively for Indian food... both the lunch buffet and dinner. Their dessert menu has more variety than I typically see at other Indian places. Definitely go here.

I went there with few friends. The food was below par. We ordered Lacha Parathas. What came out was Naan fried from one side and burnt from corners. Not even close to what a paratha is. Chana Masala and Daal were literally tasteless. I am giving them two stars due to friendly staff. Kitchen and Cook deserves no starts. Prices were not cheap by any standard. To summarize, food had no taste and we paid a lot of money to have non-decent food. Will not be recommending.

Perfect & Authentic Indian Cuisine!!! GURU PALACE is a hidden gem in North & East Brunswick and we have been frequenting this place since we moved to the city. My whole family enjoys coming and trying the different dishes on the buffet. They also do private parties. Their weekly lunch buffet can't be beaten for quality and price. They have standard staples such as: chicken curry, tandoori chicken, goat curry, creamed lentils, butter chicken, samosas, salad, and desserts. I love their Mango Lassi. Also, manager Ashok is very friendly and attentive to his guests. He makes everyone feel like a long time family friend. My wife doesn't like it that i take every opportunity to go - even if she's not around ;)

Terrible experience working with the business. Owners are coldhearted and wouldnt budge on changing date for an event which needed to be adjusted due to a death. Be very careful before booking any parties. You will get no sympathy from them should anything happen.

One of the best places to have banquet.. I had my daughters graduation in the new banquet. It was beautiful, and my daughter loved it. The food was great and just the way we liked it. Service was also awesome! Better than any of those restaurants on route 27..

I wish I never trusted these guys. They talk so good about their service and brag about their food but infact they served stale food which spoiled our party. When I called them to complain they dont even listen or care about it. If you guys dont want to regret later then there are lots of good options available nearby. WE WOULD NEVER VISIT THEM AGAIN.

They don't stop high schoolers from bringing in alcohol without asking for id!!! I had an average tasting meal here, but will not frequent a business that has no regard for the law. The food was nicely seasoned, but served luke warm. The staff is also not that friendly to non-indian diners

Have came multiple times in the past with 3-4 people for the lunch buffet, went today with 3, I saw a automatic gratuity added, when asked about it the waiter says something like “we add automatic gratuity on random days because of holiday festivities and it’s not that busy. What does that even mean since It wasn’t even a holiday. That’s no reason do charge us more! Me and my friends won’t be returning here as they probably tried to scheme us since we are teenagers! Dirty table prior to seating and okay food.

If you like Indian food and are anyway close to this place .... Don't miss the opportunity to have a sumptuous meal. I happened to get a chance to be here during lunch hours. The buffet had excellent spread. Every Dish on table was just awesome. Garlic Naan served hot on table was soft, fresh and delicious. Net net great food and excellent service.

We always visit this place and have wonderful food over here. This time we got the catering from Guru Palace. The food was super awesome. The quality was amazing. I had my bridal shower and my wedding at GURU PALACE Banquet hall and everything a bride dreams of on her wedding day was accomplished. The food taste great, the service is amazing with happy workers and great attitude, the customer service that lisa provides is great and he makes it easy to select from the venue and the colors always look great and organized. All my guests loved the service and had a blast on my both parties. I highly recommend GURU PALACE Banquet hall for any party either minor or major. And I know where I will be hosting my future events. Thumbs up!

I gad visited Shagun Banquet for my friend Engagement Party in Guru Palace Restaurant were awesome. Their Hall is rich and elegant unlike some which are cheeky and look overdone. They exude a onherent richness in them which facilitates in overall satisfaction levels. I would say that for the price, they are probably the best Banquet Hall in Central Jersey. FYI their food is delicious too.

One of the best indian foods i have experienced ! the manager (Lysa) and the owner personally take care of their customers. I think they like feeding people .......LOL We look at every excuse to visit this place. Strongly suggest to host a party in their new banquet! Excellent selection of food, ambiance and more importantly the staff is very professional. Great selection of indo chinese, authentic punjabi food. Loved one evening when they had some karoke singers. Suggest a gazal night :) :)
