Freemans is a beautiful, cozy “American style” restaurant located at the end of an alley. The cuisine is simple and rustic. I had the ricotta pancakes with maple Syrup for brunch. They were delicious. This place gets busy very fast so keep that in mind when you decide to eat there.

Aurora Vintilescu

We went there for drinks at the bar last night. We were a little disappointed with the service (our bartender seemed to be overall bothered by us, she was very dismissive and a little passive aggresive). Once Zoe Kravitz entered the bar, the bartender was very friendly to her, so I assume she had something against us specifically. Wouldn’t care too much about it if the drinks she made us were good. My French 75 felt like anything but, my friend’s Mezcal based cocktail was undrinkable. The only lucky ones were my friends who ordered sparkling wine, which didn’t require any expertize except for pouring in a glass :)

Mark Meleka

hidden gem. great bar staff and solid drinks

Saad Moulvi

The food/drinks were great and service was fantastic

Adelyn Castro

Went here today around 3 to celebrate a major life event.it was relatively empty because of the time of day. I was surprised it's at the end of an alley filled with art work. The restaurant had an old Americana vibe- dark whiskey walls, antlers on display low lights, old frames of who can be old dead men from the 1800s. The food was good. We ordered devil's on horseback and Mac and cheese for appetizers. The first were prunes stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon. Sweet and savory. The Mac and cheese was also good. Verdict of first course: I had a BBQ pulled pork sandwich it was very good. I just wished the bread didn't turn soggy so quick. Overall it was delicious and the portion was good as was the accompanying greens The duck entre was very good according to those who had it. Good portion well seasoned and awesome pairing. The cod cake was also delicious paired with sweet potato hash. For desert we ordered sorbet and pancakes two separate orders and it was very good. They didn't come to play with the sorbet. It had four legitimate large scoops. We were all able to share one portion. Come hungry. It's good food.

Timothy David

The cocktails are........ I don’t even know how to describe the awesome flavors. They’re so good and intriguing.

P P

Good food, welcoming atmosphere

Bill White, Jr.

Great atmosphere and decor. Liked the alley entrance, very Village chic. Food was perfectly cooked and delicious. We had a large group in a private room upstairs. Entrees were steak which was the table favorite, I also loved the Salmon. Really enjoyed this place alot.

Ryan Sands

Amazing spot for Brunch.

sitharam82

A really cozy place. I tried their skillet eggs and blood mary for brunch! Really good. Also, if you’re there before noon, and ok sitting by the bar, you may not need a reservation. It gets really busy after. Just walk around and explore the upstairs, when you’re there.

Amir Khosroshahi

Great brunch and nice cosy location

Jose Arias

Quaint little alley bar/restaurant with history and hunting decor. Candle lighting and soft music vibes gives this locale a great ambiance. Bartenders are very knowledgeable and friendly. Didn't catch the name of the Latino bartender but he was fun to talk to and had great recommendations. I didn't try any of the food but my friends come here on a weekly basis for brunch and highly recommend it. They have coat racks and plenty of seating for all types occasions. Will definitely be back to try out the food.

Cristian Cuevas

Filet mignon was delicious, cozy atmosphere

Wenyi Tao

Very decent dating place. Outside the restaurant is a good place to take picture. Skillet egg is amazing and do not add more cheese it will be salty. The girl siting next to us was keep coughing. So I have to to stop eating without finishing my food lol.

Brent Martin

american food... super satisfying. I was so full. I will probably become a regular. Reminds me of a restaurant in Philadelphia that I enjoyed.

Devin Dakes

stumbled upon Freeman’s and was excited to try it because i have heard nothing but good things about it - not to mention its popularity on social media, i figured it wouldn’t disappoint. the artichoke dip was really good but it took ~40 mins for the rest of our meal to come out. the food was just okay, not worth the wait or the price. also, the interior has so much potential but all the taxidermy was a bit off putting. i was bummed with the whole experience.

robert milner

Cocktails were amazing. I had the calamari salad and the dressing didn't seem to mesh well with it. The bacon wrapped plums were just meh. Didn't seem like the menu was well thought out. Lots of reviews talk about the decor, but I feel those might be people who never leave the city and see real rustic feeling places.

Jake Bartlein

Awesome decor. The entryway alone is worth a visit as it is down a long alleyway. A good restaurant in to share dishes

Kevin Ryan

Starters, atmosphere and cocktails were good. However, both our main dishes of duck and chicken were very dry (we've cooked far better duck at home) and the cassoulet accompanying the duck was quite bland. This was quite disappointing as my wife has raved about this place since her last visit to NYC, but to paraphrase her own words we won't be rushing back again.

Andrew Ulbrich

Neat ambiance and terrific wine. However, the food left a lot to be desired. The chicken was poorly cooked and underdone and it’s sides didn’t pair well and were lukewarm. The salad dressing was jarring and did not fit the rest of the dish. There was not nearly enough cheese for the cheese plate. It was also quite expensive for what it was. That said, it could have been quite good with some tweaks.

Eleni Natsi

Delicious food in nice environment!

Alison Wong

Amazing cocktails and you can never go wrong with their food for Brunch time. The place itself is not easy to spot from the street since they are in an alley but the vibe inside the restaurant and outside is perfect. Warning: it was get a little crowded when you sit inside but it's still cozy. Service is also great but when it gets busy, don't expect your server to be there every 5 mins. They're running around like crazy trying to cover all the tables.

Elliott Horner

Meat centric but good food. Very interesting decor

Tristan Tully

Have only been for cocktails. Beautiful location tucked in the back of an alley. Drinks are wonderful.

MickMick NYC

This is a really cute restaurant! You can find it at the end of a small narrow alley covered in graffiti. The place has a unique atmosphere inside but not well lit. We ordered the cheeseburger and the banana pancakes. Cheeseburger was a little burnt but other than that was pretty good. Banana pancake was the best I had in the city, highly recommended.

John Tao

Probably my favorite overall theme and feel of any restaurant. From the wall behind the bar to the taxidermy to the old speakers, everything goes perfect together. Feels you are in a lodge upstate NY. I came here for brunch and decided to try the special, filet mignon hash. Such flavor! I loved the tender steak with the soft potatoes and runny eggs. Also the skillet eggs were top notch. Add bacon and cheese, any other way would be wrong. And...the pancakes were pretty bomb as well. I can’t wait to come back for more.

Jason C. M. Atkins

Did the fixed price Restaurant Week lunch special on a Wednesday afternoon with two coworkers. Got the Kale Apple Pomegranate Cranberry Vinaigrette salad. Also got the brisket sandwich. The brisket was good, appropriately dressed. $26 all in. Confusingly, the brisket came with a salad. I gladly ate the second salad (because I'm weird?), but thought something different would have been more appropriate. Felt like poor menu planning. Service & the kitchen were slow. Our food took about 10mins longer than it should have. Our initial drink orders (coffee & tea) were incomplete and stayed that way for about 5-7mins even though we brought the miss to the waiter's attention. The decor was beautiful. The location felt very special - it feels like you're going to a secret place in the city. Lots of art greets you on your way to the entrance. Great location for a date.

Juli V.

Nice atmosphere, good food but at the end very expensive restaurant.

theannomie

Tucked away on a side street, this restaurant is a welcome retreat from the brunch madness. The food is great, lots of options for those that prefer the lunch slant of brunch. The staff is effective, kind, and professional. Maybe I was just lucky but the place wasnt full of babies or drunk ppl, which is the unfortunate reality of most brunch options in NYC. I've also been to the location in Hell's Kitchen which wss also very good although much smaller. The food is high quality. I want to visit the LES location again for dinner.

Tina Rho

Great brunch option if you can get a table. They accept reservations for large parties so our party of 9 was easily accommodated in the back private room. I always bring out of towners since it's down a cool alleyway a d has great food. We ordered the burger, skillet eggs, pulled pork sandwich, fried chick n sandwich, and the mushroom and grits. every single person loved their meal and the artichoke dip is a must have.

L B

Place is just amazing! Nice design, special atmosphere. Tasty food! Clean restrooms. Good service!!! One of the best place in New York!!!

Brett Goffin

Good food. Solid vibe and pretty good service. Good people watching (according to my wife). A lot of taxidermy displayed which isn't my thing, personally. Definitely unique location. Is not getting off the street customers.

Jim Twetten

Cool setting and ambience, but felt betrayed by the website info. Entrees were $10-15 more than was listed on the website. Entrees were good but not exceptional. If you're choosing a restaurant via the web, be aware that the prices here don't match. UPDATE AFTER FREEMANS RESPONSE BELOW: Freeman's: thanks for your reply below. The site we checked on August 1st for pricing was the same site you reference in your reply below. I do note that your current website now reflects accurate pricing. Your staff must have updated it between Aug. 1 and now. Well done.

James Sondag

Super cool American Revolution style spot in a hidden alley. If you do like this place, save it in your maps as a favorite, because this is definitely one of those classic NYC spot that you can stumble upon one night for an excellent time sipping strong late-night cocktails, and then never be able to find it again.

Justin Z

great French toast! and decent iced coffee too. servers made our experience very fun and understood that we were hungover as hell (i.e. kept the water coming). go with your friends after a long night on the sauce and get some comfort food.

Julie A Baldyga

Hidden in the back of an alley way, Freeman's is city meets cabin in the woods. As soon as you enter, you are surrounded by taxidermy and mounted antlers, dimly lit lights, and rustic furniture. Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed! Prices are average for NYC. Their appetizers range from about $14 + (the warm artichoke dip is amazing and the serving size is very very generous), while the entrees are around $24+. Wine by the glass is $12+

Chuck Fang

I’m allergic to gluten but they wouldn’t side toasts to potatoes etc and the side potatoes cost $10. In general this is a very stylistic place but the food is average and expensive.

Jameson Hartman

Great chicken and broccoli. BEST APPLE PIE DESSERT

patrice flahault

Nice place but food just ok

Elizabeth Gressel

Charming entry and interior, with a rustic wooden bar and historic decor of mounted antlers and black and white framed pictures. This is larger inside than it seems with two bars and a back dining room perfect for a small party or gathering. The menu is delicious. The mussels appetizer is amazing and an absolute new favorite with its sweet ginger garlic broth. Big enough to share as an appetizer or as a single entree. The filet is delicious with a side of potatoes. Can’t wait to go back!

Ethan Morgan

A preferred spot for delicious American food. Food was so delish. Looking forward to coming back with my friends.

Samuel Stavinoha

super high quality food, cozy environment Stellar wine menu and unique local produce create top notch dishes. We started with some wild mushroom toast!

Ulyana Chuvasheva Gomez

Amazing place! Best pancakes in NYC so far. Hidden gem in Bowery

Kevin Cheng

Slow service, average food and expensive.

sulay restrepo

The appetizer mushroom toast was delicious!!! The salad was over priced, $24 for 4 shrimps and lettuce. they are famous for their fried chicken sandwich which is a bit spicy

Tamara Jones

Came midweek for brunch and was put into a strange side room, dark and seemed like the overflow. Service was ok and food was yummy but probably wouldn't go back. I'm guessing they we were seated based off server sections but would have preferred to sit in the main area.

nathanryder1

Thanksgiving Dinner Was A Bit Rushed & Also Quite Cramped. Cool Place But Maybe Given Thanksgiving It was Not Quite What We Expected. Portions Are Good & Food Is Heart Warming.

Rick Hochman

Hidden, great cocktails, cool vibe

selden haverty

Always good esp the burgers

Yan Cui

Have been here for drinks twice now. Love the cocktails!!

Dan Schultz

Great Bar , amazing drinks and a pretty kickass Brunch . Downside, you must make a reservation if not the chances of getting a table are slim to none. It's that busy

Andrea Kaplan

Brussels sprouts, mushroom-celery soup, salad. Bottle of the French Malbec. Amazing date spot in an alley way. Highly recommend!

Robert Oster

Our family dinning experience was really enjoyable for all of us as a first time.

Molly B

Intimate warm atmosphere. Feels like the best secret in Manhattan.

Eric Plotkin

We booked one of their private rooms for a small party. The space was quiet and comfortable. We had a prefixed menu served family style. All dishes were interesting and delicious! Portions were generous. Service was excellent. Totally met or exceeded everyone's expectations.

matt biery

Bland and uninteresting food with subpar service. Only good to the “this is cute” Instagram crowd. Not the “I like my food to taste good” crowd.

曾宇瑄

The brunch was regular not surprising. The seats was tiny and crowded! Next time would might just taking pictures of the painting from the alley wall

Irina Gushchina

Very good cocktails, fast and polite service and a very nice atmosphere. Good place in all senses

Nicola Copsey

Lovely decor and ambiance. The staff were helpful and friendly. The food was a bit disappointing, a bit bland.. (had the egg white omelette). Was a bit dark for brunch, but if you're going for dinner or drinks it's perfect.

MLG

Still delightfully understated and overwhelmingly good, very glad they take reservations now.

Ryan Hoppal

My wife and I really enjoyed our brunch here. The food and drinks were great and the staff was really friendly.

Patrick Narain

Awesome place. Edgar is an amazing bartender

J Short

Great location to walk up to through Freeman Alley. Atmosphere is very cool and does make you think what would it be like to eat in New York 200 years ago. Food great. Cocktails delicious, but pricy. Service ok.

Osvaldy Ramirez

Awesome environment. Great drinks, yummy food. Super instagramable!

Jeff A

A truly incredible restaurant. The location, food and ambiance is hard to beat. One of my all time favorites

Michael schwartz

High-quality Colonial American decor and cuisine worthy of a visit

Arial chou

We ordered French toast and chicken sandwich, the chicken sandwich was fine, but the French toast was different than the image on yelp. It was pretty wet and tastes too sweet. Other than that the waiter who served us is not friendly, I ordered coffee, he didn't ask me do I need milk or not. I asked him do they still have warm salad, his attitude was like I asked very stupid question. When my friend asked him to come, he acted very slow and reluctantly. His arrogant attitude makes me had no appétit at all. But he seems pretty friendly to other customers, I don't know if he is racist or what. Coz we were pretty friendly at first. Anyway, very disappointed. Two stars is for chicken sandwich.

Mike Valentin

Such a cool spot. Came here for lunch on a Thursday, not crowded. Ordered the Breakfast Bowl off the menu which was a hearty mix of scrambled eggs, sweet potatoes and some fixings. Others in my party got a breakfast skillet and the hamburger. Big portions, flavorful and everyone enjoyed. Drinks were delicious, fun spins on classics. The decor is really nice, but the best part is the alleyway leading up to the restaurant which is all Insta ready.

Arezou Attar

The food is okay, the place looks good!

Lesley Truett

Neighborhood gem. Still great after so many years!

Eric Ingulsrud

Wonderful space in LES. Hidden gem. Take your date here. They will be impressed.

Evgeny Artyukov

Really cozy atmosphere! Perfect for a brunch! Food is great!

Lois Tatis

Great hidden but not so hidden gem. Checked this restaurant out on date night and we were impressed. The ally leading into the restaurant makes it feel like you are walking into an exclusive place and once you make it in Freeman delivers. The staff is friendly and knowledge on the history of the restaurant. They even allowed us to check out the upstairs to see some of the unique intenterior design. Food is good, can't go wrong with anything!

Lisa Nigma

It’s great atmosphere, drinks and place. The place is a bit pricey. However, I liked a special drink- Freemans.

Taynan Carvalho

Amazing food!

Robert Sharkey

Not so hidden gem in a great part of town with excellent drinks, great food and a sexy ambiance. Good for dates and events! The bartenders make some genuinely cool cocktails, dare them to design something new and they will surprise you.

Kevin Larson

Cute bar/restaurant, fair prices

Pedro M. Espinosa

Food was good, got nauseous 5 hours after dinner

Aran O'Gara

One of my top 5 meals of all time. Two of my friends and myself split a special, which was a veal roast that was still on the bone. We had pre dinner cocktails, dessert, and dessert drinks as well, all of which went wonderfully together. Service was great, and the atmosphere was phenomenal.

Mary Kate Steele

This place offers such a cool and unique vibe! Definitely a must on your restaurant list! Incredible food and menu!

PATRICK

Excellent, unique cuisine and fast attentive service.

Andrea Wu

I came here for brunch around 11AM on a Sunday, and we got seated promptly. I was torn between sizzling eggs and French toast with orange honey ricotta cheese and blueberry syrup, but in the end I got the latter. Our food came out soon after we ordered, and my French toast was quite different from other French toasts I've had. The brioche was really thick, but it was a tad hard. The ricotta cheese was really flavorful, but there was too much syrup which made it all too sweet. There were also not very many blueberries. My friend got banana buttermilk pancakes, which I tried a bite of and the pancakes themselves were fluffy and the flavor of all the toppings was great. It was also a tad too sweet though. Service is alright as it not super attentive but we got what we needed. After we finished eating, we paid the bill and I saw the table next to us ordered French toast as well - one of their plates had at least twice the amount of blueberries I had! The portions are pretty small and prices are quite high (our dishes were both $16 pre-tax).

Eric Valenzuela

Amazing food and drinks in an incredible setting. Worth the wait.

Jonny

Outrageously good cocktails

Jason Anderson

Really loved this place, got there late and.maybe chef had already left. Sent back every item literally everything and just had glad of wine and went to shake shack. Wasn't my first time here and actually brought guess back after bragging on this place but was more miss than hit on this visit. (3) stars still for location and cool factor.

Michael Giles

We started with a meat plate and a few drinks. We shared the Tomahawk steak for the main course... it was absolutely amazing. Our server was amazing, shout out to the staff there for being so cool. Highly recommended place for great food, service, and all around experience.

Nick Miceli

Booked a private room for an 11 person corporate team dinner. From the broad set of options I had customizing our family-style menu to the great ambiance of the space, it made for a perfect event. Food was great quality (everyone wanted leftovers) and reasonably priced for the event type. Would happily come again.

Henry Bayer

A very unassuming alley way takes you straight into this hip and delicious restaurant. I had the burger and an excellent mixed drink. I’ll be back!

Joshua Hanover

Came here on date night with my partner and was very unimpressed. The food was okay, but not worth the price in my opinion. The idea is cool (located in the back of an ally, lodge feeling, earthy vibe) and the menu looks good, but the experience left us very underwhelmed. They pack in patrons side-by-side and the space is loud. Overcrowding and inadequate noise control completely ruined the experience. Overpriced and overrated.

Jacqueline Cerniglia

Came for a weekday lunch with my parents in town. Impressively large space with real cool decor. Small menu but was delicious. Got the fried chicken sandwich was perfect amount of food.

Noah Kim

Great little hideaway spot down a long alley. Staff was attentive. Decor and ambiance is so cool. Food was well prepared.

Mel

I loved it here! Very nice restaurant` with a great vibe. So glad I stumbled across it!

Katie DeAngelis

Went for Sunday brunch and we only had to wait a few minutes. Such a cozy and charming place. We got the artichoke dip which was amazing, and then the french toast which was good but not extraordinary. Great service.

Kevin Hinton

Cool space down a fun alley but they pack in the tables so it’s very cramped. The food is average at best but the pricing is certainly above average. I had the cheese roasts which I was thinking would be similar to grilled cheese but I was incorrect and they were pretty terrible. The others had slightly better luck with their food choices but no one was overly impressed.

Douglas McMillan

Yummy food, decent prices and great ambiance. The music was a bit too loud though.

Madison Pearce

Great food! Came at a bad time, so was only able to have appetizers! But have enjoyed lunch here before, fresh inviting comfort food with a twist! Love it

Alfred Stevens

Freemans is always wonderful because of it's ambiance. Wasn't my first time here. Banana pancake always the best I had in the city

Justin Bayoneto

Really cool aesthetic, nice hidden gem on the outskirts of Chinatown. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. The food itself was certainly above average, great if you're looking for a comforting, American-style meal. Fries are excellent!

Brayden Mora

We were a party of five women and ordered the Tomahawk Steak. It was $175 and we had a little left over. I have tried tomahawks at several other steak houses and this was one of the best. It was amazing!! Wine selection was good and moderately priced. Artichoke dip and tuna tar tar were delicious! Everyone walked away full and happy ! At $75 person which included a bottle of wine and tip, it was definitely worth it.

kimi kens

Loved the one drink I got. We put ourselves on a waiting list for 20 mins but they never called us. If the food is anything like the drinks then this place is amazing!

Zack Silverman

Awesome bar, great vibe

Dennis Denev

One of the best kept secrets in town , not ! Unfortunately, now everybody knows of this awesome place. Seasonal menu , awesome drinks and very diverse brunch menu.

Tamara Banbury

I splurged on the seasonal lunch - the duck hash. It was incredibly tasty and worth the money. The spot is tucked away at the end of Freeman's Alley and the ambiance is lovely. I imagine this would be a great date spot.

Justin Siris

Great food, interesting atmosphere. I really enjoyed this restuarant.

Remya Thomas

Good food and friendly staff. We lucked out with no wait time. I usually don't like the beans in the English breakfast. This one was A+. Tiny fix: the sausages were a tad bit dry.

Jakub Pavlík

Path to restaurant looks very scary and we were not sure where we are going, however the restaurant is delicious. We enjoyed the time a lot and had a very tasty steak. New York is awesome on various food places and you cannot judge by outside look :)

Natalie and the Monarchy

How did they mess up eggs? Lmao

Olive Catill

Really amazing first meal at Freemanms. Food, service, and friendliness all on point.

Steven Dakh

Great ambiance, great food

Elliott Tomes

Great service. Great setting. Appetizers and drink menu are the stars here. The entrees are not especially creative or compelling, but do the job.

Roberto Wong

Food, decor, service, and atmosphere were great.

Elizabeth Perez

Excellent food, amazing ambiance and service

Mac A

I went here with my family and some friends, and to be honest we were pretty skeptical about it. There was a brief wait while our table in the wine room was prepared, which was not a problem at all. We sat at the bar for a bit and the bartender gave us some sass, but hey she was stressed because the place was busy, so no big deal. When we got seated, and checked the menu we noticed it was easily over 80 degrees in the room, and the meals were way more expensive, and weirder, than expected. We debated leaving, but ended up staying and ordering the spaghetti and some other pasta dish, as well as the spinach artichoke dip and mussels. To our amazement, the food was really, really good. The unique ingredients made the dishes unlike anything we could have expected. Also, the entrance was beautifully decorated, which made the place very inviting, which helps because the place is in the back of an alley which is kinda sus. I definitely would recommend this place, but wear layers cause it’s really hot.

Julie Allen

An old fave, nestled down a back alley with amazing modern american dishes.

Damian Lopez

Food was good. Service was sub par. Server made me hold my dish will he put food on the table. I'm customer paying $25 for eggs. I shouldn't be having an immersive experience in where I'm working with them. Unbelievable..

Brian Miller

Great food and service in rustic and inviting environment.

Ashl Mcguire

WOW ! Amazing experience. Very bougie and foodie-esque but not insanely overpriced. My waitress knew the menu very well and made great recommendations for wine & beer. I got an orange wine and I was in love! Would definitely come back for a special occasion.

Denis Sosnovtsev

Don't sleep on the cheese grits if they're available. I'm not even a grits fan; it's not something I'd normally think to get and I have no idea why it stood out this time. But my god these were good. Nearly brought me to tears of joy.

Christopher Shie

Good vibes great food

Hagar Gargeer

great food. Steak was good, pasta was good and the ambience makes you feel like you are in a rustic English cottage

Ronit Jacobs

Obnoxiously overpriced! The place is very cool with bookshelves and taxidermy and the service was good. Although they claim to be vegan friendly, they weren't really. The pasta sans cheese was the only main that was vegan. Food was hit or miss and portions were small - very small. Drinks were not memorable. Tomato salad was delicious. Linguine was meh. Lamb special was fantastic. Lobster was okay. Soshito peppers were average. Desserts were fabulous - key lime donuts were the bomb! Brownie sundae was delicious. Bananas Foster was good. Although open table had it as $$, it was way more expensive than that - anxiously so.

Colleen Zayas

I had a lamb dish was so good. I love little finds in an artistic alley way in NYC

Rob Clews

Freeman’s is a popular brunch venue, although not one I’d go out of my way to return to. It certainly exudes a hipster vibe and is typically overpriced. The venue itself is nice and the food decent, although the service has been questionable at times. Once they forgot to place the order and on a separate occasion forgot our drinks. On neither occasion were we offered any concessions. I’d recommend making a reservation ahead of time.

Joshua South

We were a party of five women and ordered the Tomahawk Steak. It was $175 and we had a little left over. I have tried tomahawks at several other steak houses and this was one of the best. It was amazing!! Wine selection was good and moderately priced. Artichoke dip and tuna tar tar were delicious! Everyone walked away full and happy ! At $75 person which included a bottle of wine and tip, it was definitely worth it. Loved the atmosphere right from walking up alley to not being sure it was right place and then discovering cosy place! Liked the Food and cocktail.

Drew A.

Very cool vibe and friendly staff. Food was great.

Damien Jordan

Amazing place, great ambiance and the food is delicious. It's at the end of a small cute alley. You'll be away from city activities to enjoy a nice meal.

NawaL Alshref

Nice place . Delicious food

Neo Lee

Good place, 1st floor little noisey 2nd fllor cozy & quite. Highly recommended.

Michael Messantonio

Wonderful place to have a bite and drinks. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection. The ambience was great and our server was terrific. Will definitely go again when we're back in New York!

Woodrow Keifenheim

Food and drink were both quite good, the price-point felt a little much for many of the menu items so I went straight for the filet as there was not an appreciable different in price. Ordered medium rare, and that is exactly what I got.

Robyn Bunch

Decent food, cool feel down an alley. But overpriced and over-hyped for what it is. The artichoke dip was unique and tasty. Thankfully, they brought out more bread chips.

Mike Phillips

Fabulous...great food/atmosphere...

Abigail Smul

I have been wanting to try this place for a while (admittedly since Caila Quinn posted about it on Instagram...) And I was thrilled about everything! The decor and service were wonderful, and the food was delicious. My friend and I split the cinnamon roll for dessert and that was definitely a highlight. They also have a really cool space upstairs that can be rented for private events. Will definitely be back.

Peter Flanagan

Cute place but pricey. I got the Crab Cake Benedict for brunch and it was good but by no means exceptional.

Valerie Woodson

Great place for special occasions. Food is wonderful, fun atmosphere and good service.

Brennan Pothetes

I love love love this place. Amazing food, great staff, awesome atmosphere. I’ve done everything from casual to 10+ work dinners here and they’ve never failed to astound me.

Deborah Bascombe

Freeman's is a wonderful brunch spot. We used the party room to hold a large brunch for 30 friends. The staff was very accommodating and the food was good. It was served family style with platters of French toast, pancakes, scrambled eggs, salad, fruits, etc. It was a very good spread. We had hoped for more food but what we received was more than sufficient. Would definitely recommend and planning my next visit back

Sloane Williams

Really large servings, but lovely environment. Their artichoke dip might very well be the best thing I’ve put in my mouth. Personally I wasn’t a fan of the chicken salad sandwich, and I normally love chicken salad, but it’s just my opinion.

Juan Gutierrez

This place is awesome! Long alleyway covered in very cool graffiti leads to the entrance. When you walk in your transported to a country lodge. Wood and windows with stuffed animals covering all the walls - a goose, boar, various horned animals. There's a long bar on the left, and a variety of rooms or nooks, and an upstairs too. Thoughtful touches throughout. The host and waiter greet you with friendly smiles and effusive hellos. The menu has good variety from delicious meat dishes to delicious vegetarian, and special cocktails. The food is crafted with care and ingredients of the highest quality. I had a kale salad, brisket sandwich and coffee. The dessert menu also looked amazing. This place is amazing! Enjoy

YG Chow

Beautiful decor, great food, nice staff. Will go back.

Jonathan Decker

Food was so good!!! Amazing atmosphere, servers were fantastic, this is the place to be! Go check it out! My wife and I will be going back!

Maegan Beam

I dont really like there food

Melissa Taylor

Great cocktails and food.

Majo

Came here during the last days of restaurant week, I had a tuna tartare, a linguini and banana dessert, they were all good but nothing exceptional. The thing is, the artichoke dip (which someone else from my party ordered) is so good that I would come here again and again just for that dish. The price was very reasonable for NY standards, but then again it was the prefix menu of restaurant week.

Edna Banks

Freeman's Restaurant is one of those New York treasures that is a given. You must be savvy enough to know it's existence. Freemans Alley is off Rivington Street between Chrystie and the Bowery on the Lower East Side of New York City. This wonderful restaurant is alluring in its own way of decor, simplicity and the cottage feel one would get in an industrious-old world setting. We settled on Sunday Brunch, a must have. You'll find the Menu well rounded and balanced. We ordered the Duck Hash which was sinful, and the Cake Cake Benedict.

One of my favorite spots downtown. Always colorful street art on Freeman's Alley. Great food. Cozy, sexy environment. Also has a bar with excellent cocktails.

Heaven

Not a place to go if you're wanting a budget friendly place to eat. This should have 4 $$$$.... opened the menu and was blown away by the prices. Walked out.

Amazing food and drinks. Great wine list. Plenty of seating - down an alley way, unlike any other place I can think of in NYC. Super friendly and helpful staff. Cannot say enough about the food - devil's on horseback are always an amazing starter - we had our company holiday party here and the upstairs is spacious. Love this spot.

Cute hidden restaurant in a New York City alleyway! The food was great, you must try the artichoke spinach dip.

If you love life, or once loved life, or will love life, if only for a microsecond, one day, this is the place for you. It is also a place for those who have a love life, as much as for those who have no love life. The cocktails are peacock tails, the food is cooked by the best of angels. Get some.

Freemans is our go to after Brunch spot to get one of their signature cocktails. The one we love is the freemans cocktail. Tastes amazing and has exciting elements as well

Cozy restaurant and delicious food! Unfussy approach which leads to a relax environment. Excellent service.

Food was great!!! Very cool place...reminded me of the "leaky cauldrin" from Harry Potter....And you have to walk to the back of a long ALLY WAY to get to it....I will definitely return!!!!

Mr Frank! One of the coolest bartender we have met so far and he is part of the Freeman’s Family ... apart from that this is one the spots you have to go. Food is crazy good and the place is just cool stuff!

Food was okay. Nothing special. Bison steak and eggs not worth $34 as most expensive item on brunch menu. Definitely would recommend making reservations. Although for Sunday around 2pm they had lots of empty tables. Don't bother calling restaurant they don't answer instead just have prerecorded msgs. Waiter didn't even be offer dessert for brunch just dropped our check and kept it moving. Not impressed.

The pancakes, french toast, and skillet eggs are superb!

Cute and cozy dinner spot.

Fantastic cocktails at Freemans. Stumbled into this hidden gem and had cocktails prior to a night out. Really creative and well executed drinks! Look forward to returning for dinner.
