They had very attentive staff from the get-go which was really nice. We started off with some Chardonnay which was really good along with the cheese plate. For our entrees we had the chicken with bacon and mushrooms, the other chicken dish (which was amazing) , and some sides. The sides we got were the potatoes, carrots, and green beans. We even received some complimentary carrot cake bites! Overall great dining experience right out of Paris!

Ok let’s get down to business. Went to DB Bistro on a Wednesday afternoon. My son and daughter in law took me for Father’s Day. The place is perfect from decor to music playing in the background. The service exceptional. Now the food. I had the DB burger. This is no ordinary burger. It’s the best burger I have ever had in my life. A life which consisted of a quest for the best burger. Mission accomplished. For dessert strawberries and cream. Don’t let the simple name fool you. I only wonder how many angels wings were used to make this complex dessert. Fancy modern French, went for the famed Burger, but found it over rated. Too many flavors to settle on one to focus, due to the complexity of the meat types used. Burger was undercooked, which I also attribute to the short rib blend in the center of the patty. Other entrees were good, but not spectacular. Desserts were really good. Staff was very accommodating. Expensive, especially the wine list. Great location if seeing a show. Make a reservation.

A few years ago, we used to frequent DB, and left about 4 reviews on TripAdvisor. The recent visit, after 2.5 years, provided the same degree of satisfaction. Good solid French bistro food, accompanied with some modern twists here and there, great ambiance, good service and extensive and affordable wine list. The really appealing aspect is the restaurant's prixe-fixe menu, where for $60 one gets a 3-course dinner (certain expensive dishes, such as Sole Meunière or Fillet Mignon would require a supplemental pay, but all within the limits of decency and normalcy). For a fine dining meal of that level, courtesy of the "parent-chef" Daniel Boulud, that's really a bargain. DB's pastas could be also ordered as appetizers or main courses. While deciding on desserts, don't forget that at the end of the meal you are also getting a generous helping of madeleines.

I had a fantastic dinner here. My server was phenomenal and attentive. He answered all our questions with a smile. The interior is beautiful and I enjoyed the atmosphere. It is on the loud side...obviously will also depend on other people there because there’s an open room with a bar. Now the food....fantastic here as well. I came here for the first time during restaurant week. The fluke crudo (raw fish) was delicious and not fishy at all. The zucchini and farro was refreshing and substantial. The Coq Au Riesling was one of the best chicken dishes I’ve had in my life. We’re all familiar with dry chicken meat and the kind of rib meat that falls right off the bone. Well, this chicken meat was moist and tender. I normally wouldn’t order chicken as an entree at an establishment like this, but it exceeded all expectations! The db Burger...there’s a $5 supplement for restaurant week. This burger is substantial..the meat was thicker than the bun. It was perfectly cooked and flavorful. The fries are also good! Both the Black Forrest Blombe and Raspberry Gateau were delicious. But I did enjoy the Raspberry Gateau more due to the crunch..the tart..the fresh fruit. Oh! And I forgot to mention...wine pairing for $18!

Came here to try the restaurant week menu and asked the waiter which options on it were dairy free since I'm lactose intolerant. He scoffed and replied, "Everything has dairy," gesturing to the whole menu. Disappointed by this response, and said "Okay then, what am I supposed to eat?" He then started singling out certain menu items like the fish and steak saying that these items would be safe. If he knew that these items (the fish & the steak) would be safe, why did he originally tell me everything had dairy? Laughing and giving a sarcastic answer is probably #1 on the list of bad customer service ideas. The actual food here was just okay. The steak was a highlight but everything else was extremely average. When the bill came, my boyfriend and I split it and put it on our cards. We both signed our receipts, and then he went to the restroom. The same waiter came to pick up the receipts, he abruptly asked, "Where's the second receipt?" I said, "Oh, are you sure it's not in there? I saw him sign it." Waiter says, "Well obviously he didn't because I only have one receipt. When he comes back, you need to make sure he gives it to me," and walked away. I'm not saying he was wrong for needing the receipt, but his attitude (throughout the whole night) was appalling. When my boyfriend returned from the restroom, he still must have forgotten to slip the receipt back into the folder because we were halfway out the door when our waiter literally chased us out the door saying, "I told you to have him leave the receipt! You need to give it to me!" Completely unprofessional. That waiter really ruined the experience. I really wish I got his name to speak with management about it because he because he left such a bad taste in my mouth. Between his supremely poor service and the average food, I won't be returning anytime soon. There are so many truly great restaurants to experience in Manhattan... db Bistro Moderne just isn't one of them.

The food is a nice twist on traditional bistro items, plus some seasonal/local additions. This is a good go-to place when you are in midtown and need a nice lunch.

I came back after a few years and was disappointed. This is not the place to take important clients to lunch or dinner. The food is average at best and the service is spotty. Front of house staff was very friendly and accommodating, also the gentleman looking after the wine was very pleasant. The waiter (short beard, glasses, not skinny) however, either needs to work on his attitude towards guests or consider another profession. Our experience was very similar to the one described by "Victoria A" a few weeks back. Apart from giving the impression that waiting on tables was an unpleasant chore for him, he made a rude comment under his breath about one of our party which was completely unjustified because the waiter was impatient whilst we were having an engaged conversation. I didn't want to make a scene because I didn't want to embarrass our guests, but I will not go back to this place. I think it is great that Rachel pays close attention to all the reviews but it would be even better to hire friendly and professional waiters instead of promising "to make things right" after a bad experience.

My best friend and her husband recently visited NYC for a vacation and one of the things she wanted to do was a Restaurant Week dinner in one of the best restaurants in the city, so I narrowed down the options and we ultimately chose this restaurant because, yep, Chef Daniel Boulud. I requested for a great table and we were given a good one for party of 5. The host welcomed us and we were immediately led to our table. We ordered a bottle of white Muscadet and enjoyed that while we waited for our food. As for the starters, we all enjoyed it. I especially loved the Chicken Pate. I've spent a lot of time in France and have been spoilt with delicious French food while there so this one was as close to the usual that I've had in France. For entrées, my BFF had the scallops and while delicious, she kind of wished they were a little more generous, given she only had 3 pieces but that's NYC normal based on experience, another friend had salmon and really enjoyed it, my husband and my best friend's hubby both had the DB Burger and they weren't really satisfied by it, they thought it was too dry and also they thought Shake Shack was better. I told them that it wasn't gonna be a classic burger and if they weren't a fan of foie gras (which is obviously acquired taste), they may not like it. Which was the case. I liked the roasted duck breast and found it delicious. Dessert was a combination of all of it so we got to try everything. I thought the men was playing it safe by going for the ice cream which came in 3 flavors, but that actually ended up to be the better option out of all. My best friend and I were particularly excited by the Baked Alaska but felt that the mango passion fruit was overpowering. Overall though, we loved our dining experience and enjoyed our time here. =)

I love the food, service, and ambiance in the back room which are suited for both a casual lunch with friends and a romantic dinner with a loved one. Chef Boulud has an undoubtedly exquisite taste. Just what I needed. Dining solo, but the hostess didn’t bat an eye. Treated as if I was a regular. Seated immediately even though room was busy. Straight to mains: generously poured drinks. H3ll yeah they’re expensive but this is Boulud yo. And it’s worth it. Chef’s amuse bouche. Sublime steak frites. Of course yoy can get this seemingly pedestrian dish anywhere: get it here. Ignore all others. Perfect steak. Perfect -i mean perfect - frites. Tarte tatin for dessert - pastry chef needs to be hugged for me- that was epic. A sugary sublime coma. An obvious overpour of a digestif (20 ml? No effing way: I love that you emptied the bottle for me). Gracious friendly service. Recommended. Boulud establishments rarely disappoint. This one - on a rainy Wednesday- just served me up a meal to remember, like it was all in a day’s work.

First time trying the famous original db burger and I was disappointed. Being a big fan of Foie Gras and Black Truffle, I got to say I didn't taste either ingredients in the burger. Although the ground short rib made the meat fairly soft, the beef tasted bland. For the price of $35, it did not deliver what's advertised.

I took my wife there to celebrate (for 10th time) her recent birthday. I was lucky enough to secure one of the Travelzoo vouchers and we were very happy about it. Bottom line, we were very pleased with a establishment itself.. Was very simply yet pleasantly designed.. First off, can't thank the staff enough to let us hang out here every alternate week and have our meetings etc. We usually order breakfast here, but happened to be here one day even for lunch. Great place for a modern French American fare. Would particularly recommend the restaurant week menus which comes with usd32 bottles of wine which are very pleasant. The burger is a little heavy for me and probably not the best feature of the overall carte, especially for usd35. The chicken and fish courses are simple but extremely pleasant, with refined tastes and the right amount of seasonning. Service is discreet and efficient , which makes the overall experience quite pleasant.
