We love the food here, and it's reasonably priced. The thanksgiving sandwich is one of my favorites! The cocktails are fun, too. The staff is friendly, outdoor seating is great, the inside is a little dingy.

Decided to give it another shot, and we had a worse experience than last time. We really want this place to be great because it is such a Cranford staple, but it just doesn't deliver. Menu is smaller (Chicken sandwich was good/wife got burger which she said was so-so, kids pasta and hotdog $8 each!), beer menu is greatly reduced, waiter was completely disengaged, food took forever (we even cancelled our three kids ice cream order after waiting 15-20 minutes). Maybe it's just not a place for families to go. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming, but it all went downhill after that.

We had never been to the area before a family funeral service drew us there. We had to get a table for 16 people and they accommodated us without a blink. The food was very good and reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and I wish we lived closer to go again.

I enjoy finding new places and this hotel was EST. 1882. It is no longer a hotel but, bar and restaurant on the first floor, while a sports bar is in the basement. Drinks and food were average with street parking.

Highly disappointed with the new menu. The new bigger kitchen yet the food selection seems less and not as good. The chicken fingers is a piece of fried that is then cut up after it is cooked. Not as good as it was. Very sad

This place is iconic in the area but its only okay. The drink prices are very good, but the bartenders, not so much. They (especially the females) need a personality. Being a bartender is such a "people person" type of job and they are all lacking in that area. There seem to be lots of regulars that come here and obviously they get the better service at the bar. The food is decent pub/bar food. Nothing spectacular and nothing terrible. The atmosphere is also only okay. I am giving it 3 stars because this is where my boyfriend and I met on a date for the first time, so it has a sentimental place in my heart. Other than that, its eh.

Today the food was beyond our expectation, the clams in sauce, steamed buns filled with crisp pork and beef cooked to perfection! On my revisit list! Been a regular now for about 2 years and this is a great local bar and restaurant. Yvonne is great and always takes care of us from Cranford judo karate club. Good bar food and an assortment of craft brews. Always look forward to coming! Definitely a must if you are a local or just dropping in for a drink and some food!

Came here three times and the last two were just horrible. Our food always came out cold. And the last time we were there, EVERYTHING was salty! My calamari was soggy and tasteless. How can they mess up a simple rueben sandwich?? Also a bit overpriced for this kind of place. The staff is good though. But i won't come back.

Brendan is awesome, beers list is great, and the food is simple and consistent and executed well. Casual environment but classy at the same time. Building is a land mark and hundreds of years old. The wings, salads, cocktails and everything In between is done right. You can taste a scratch made recipes style of cooking when you eat the food. I highly recommend it.

I walked in and then right out. One, i felt out of place and stuck out like a sore thumb. I dont think they get many latinas in there by the way I was being stared at. Two, it's really old and outdated, not sure if it's meant to have that vibe. Lastly, it's for the older crowd...maybe mid 40s and up. Sorry yo say but if you're looking for a slow and kind of boring place to grab a drink then go here.

It takes a lot for me to complain about service and maybe it was an off night but I pretty much felt ignored by the servers here. It took a while for anyone to take my order, and once my food came mo one asked me if I’d like another drink or how my food was. It also took forever for someone to take my credit card. I will say the food wasn’t slow to arrive and was decent quality (not great but not terrible). I might give it another shot to see if it was just a bad night.

We have dined here many times and enjoyed each time. EXCEPT THIS TIME. All I can say is that the service was terrible. We had to ask 3 times for a refill of water before we got it. Our waiter seemed disconnected from servicing his tables. It took almost 50 minutes before our entrees to come out, just sandwiches. We asked for a drink from the bar, 3 TIMES, before we finally got it. I hope this was a one time occurance, but not sure we will return.

One of my favorite pubs in NJ. Growing up in Cranford this was the go to place. Love the downstairs with the cozy fireplace. Plenty of tv's to keep your eye on the game. Friendly bartenders. Plenty of parking options.

This place has the best corned beef reuben you will ever eat. Everything else on the menu is terrific but I have a hard time straying from that delicious grilled sandwich. Lots of local beers - always rotating. I can go twice in a week and try something new each time. The flights are fun if you don't have time to come back, try 4 NJ beers all at once! Service is always on point, they have a great staff here. I keep going and they keep making great food and serving excellent beer. 10/10

A nice, warm, and cozy downstairs spot. There is atmosphere here in abundance from the bar to the fireplace. I cannot comment on the food since I only had drinks, but the bar pie smelled delicious when it came out for another group. Drinks were fine. I wouldn't go here for cocktails. The staff was very friendly.

Came here from out of town to visit friends. We ordered out. Wings were not fully cooked and had no browning to it. Both steak and salmon orders left us very little to desire. Bland, no taste and more importantly COLD! Also, the portion sizes were ridiculously small for the price and appearance of the food. Never again.

Came here twice within a few weeks. They have a new head chef, leading to new items on the menu. Service during peak hours is very slow while service at about 9pm was a lot faster. My grievances are with staples such as nachos or even a kid's hot dog. They nachos can no longer really be made as a vegetarian option since the main topping is a beef chili without any melted cheese. The hot dog buns is more gourmet, great for an adult but tough for a 4 year old to navigate. Once again, most of this could be forgiven if the dinner service was not delayed by well over an hour and when you have kids with you, this is just not acceptable. I hope things improve!

Adorable affordable hangout with good food and great waitstaff. It has it all: the porch and upstairs bar, booths and fireplace, the outdoor patio with people watching as the commuters wend their way home and the cozy downstairs bar fireplace and eating area, which is a little too lit up for me now. Used to be a little lower lit and romantic. The new lighting ruins the romance, hence 4 stars instead of 5.

During the summer, outdoor seating is available. The food is very good, but their beer selection is why my wife and I done there often. She often enjoys a great flight of craft IPAs while I have a pint of their newest Sour beer. I'm always shocked at their rotating selection of sour beers!

Crispy eggplant caprese was soggy rubbery no flavor. Chicken quesadilla lacking in the chicken dept cheese tasted oily and processed this place has gone downhill
