This Restaurant belongs to the category of Korean restaurant.
The wings here are SO good. I love how crispy they are without being greasy. Hard to decide which flavor is best...maybe the spicy. I had leftovers that I ate with some pancakes the next day and they were still crispy and delicious after heating in the oven. Also tried the shrimp dumplings, which were equally delicious. I can't comment on any of the main dishes, but the service was good and I received my food quickly.
A world wide chain that finally made its way to the Cleveland area. It's like a regular sports bar but rather than burgers and wings, they have great Korean food including Korean style fried chicken. The fried chicken comes out piping hot but if you get the spicy version, remember that it is also pretty damn spicy. It's not the "we will make you regret ordering this" spicy but it's definitely way spicier than typical hot wings. But it's so good. You can also split your order so you get some spicy and some of the sweet soy glazed version too. Not many places serve Korean fried chicken in the area so definitely worth checking out!
Bonchon ruined my entire week. All I have been able to think about all week has been my experience that evening. I now write this review not only to warn others, but to be able to start working through the trauma that this experience has caused. The first sign of the huge mistake we had made was when we ordered our calamari appetizer based on the picture on the menu; a nice lightly battered combination of rings and tentacles. When we got our calamari it looked as if they went to BK and ordered onion rings and placed them half haphazardly on the plate. The breading was way too heavy and the calamari itself felt like they had breaded rings of raw cow hide. Half way through the purgatory of trying to get these fried pieces of tire down, I realized I would need a refreshment. I was able to catch the waitress's attention and order a hopefully refreshing Sprite. How was I supposed to know this would lead me further down into the nether world that this dinner ended up being. As I was about to take a great big gulp of the Sprite I realized something that appeared to be swimming just at the top. Stunned, I placed my drink down and closely examined it. I saw not one, not two, but three very noticeable bugs using the Sprite the staff had just brought me as their personal bubble bath. At this point you're probably asking yourself, "Why did he stay instead of calling it a night?" And here's the honest truth: 1) I had eaten at bon chon once before and remembered their fried chicken being quite good. 2) With finding bugs in my drink surely this meal would be discounted at the very least. So I wait for my half sweet crunch, half soy garlic fried chicken strips and when they finally arrive I dive right into what I think are the delicious soy garlic chicken only to find out my order was incorrect and I had been provided their spicy chicken. I found myself in the tenth circle of the inferno of which Dante had not shared with us. My mouth was on fire and there I was staring at the spot where the infested Sprite used to be. Im not proud to admit this but if that cup was still there I would likely have ended up downing it, bugs and all. Instead I sat there, mouth blazing, until finally I regained sensation of my tongue and pointed out to the waitress the error that had occurred. By this point I just wanted to get to the end of the meal, the sweet payoff of a reduced check would make all this suffering worth it. So I eagerly waited for the check, ready to get myself out of this place of dining and never return. When it finally came, we opened the bill only to find out not only were we being charged full price, but I was being charged for the bug's spa day. I was livid, feeling my heart beat in my throat I knew I couldn't remain calm if I tried to make sense of the situation. Dejected I placed my card into the billfold, accepting the error of my ways, never to return to this establishment again. Please do not make the same mistakes I have made, please NEVER eat at the Chapel Hill Bon Chon.
I ordered the Korean fried Chicken of course, that's what they promote in their window. The chicken was fried good, I could have went for a little more seasoning as my family is from the South. they added korean-style sauces, I had the Spicy and the Soy Ginger. I also ordered seafood fried rice which was pretty good they gave me a little hassle about putting my onions on the side, my family doesn't eat onions, I do I was able to get the onions on the side uncooked so it worked out. the staff was nice the service was good I would order there again.
Love this places fried chicken, noodle dishes & fries. Been going since they've opened, clean dining room & nice attentive staff. Love having this in the area
The food is amazing. Crunchy wings, great flavors. Had the pork belly sandwich too, which was fantastic.
The staff is so accommodating. I noticed that there's is one server that time and yet she managed to smile the whole time and give us a welcoming smile.
Everything was delicious that I ordered. The spicy chicken wings were fantastic, perfectly fried and crispy, not breaded, and they were spicy so you have been warned. The spicy chicken bibimbap was also very good and is plenty big enough to save half of it for lunch the next day. Finally the fries were one of the best fries I have every had, perfectly fried and well seasoned. I'll be going back for sure.
Very nice wish they had more of a selection of side dishes
The food is good. A bit pricey though for the chicken.
Had a tasty lunch with my 5-year old, and found items to please both our palates. Not inexpensive, but reasonable prices considering quality and portions. Good service, enjoyable atmosphere!
Great food and service
Tasty food! Korean Style, very good service. Friendly. Spicy wings are definitely spicy, for real! Not like most places that say spicy and are not. Very good! You will not be disappointed.
great place
Great food.
Went during the soft opening. Service was fine. Food was subpar. I got the chicken wrap, and it absolutely had no flavor after the first bite. It desperately needed sauce. My partner got some spicy chicken dish which tasted fine but almost impossibly spicy. It needed more rice to go with it.
Friend introduced me a few months go and now I'm addicted send help
Absolutely love this place! Wish I had one closer to me
Had the worst salad ever!!!!
Love everything on their menu and they typically have great drink specials! Wings are awesome!!!
One of the top asian restaurants in Chapel Hill. Which is not saying much. Food is overpriced. However, they do have most of the standard Korean dishes.
The best Korean fried chicken in the area. Much more affordable than some of the more "upper class" establishments with consistent quality.
good food and great service
This place was underwhelming. Went here with a friend and my husband. The waitress only took their orders and didnt seem to notice that I was there at all. I had to wait until she came back with their drinks before I could order mine. When it came time to order our meals and she never asked what I wanted. They also refused to honor a deal that was going on on their website. We were very rushed when the check came. Probably wont be going back any time soon.
Good choice of fast Korean food. Known for its crispy and spicy fried chicken.
After attending this Franklin St. Korean fried chicken restaurant, I was incredibly underwhelmed by both the service and the food that came out. The fried chicken is most definitely not worth the price! Left me feeling unsatisfied.
The only favor is spicy. The bibibowl smells like a dish wash liquid container.
Great service, great food. Will be going again.
Best wings ever.
Very nice addition to Chapel Hill. The wings are extremely good, among the best I've ever had. Great Korean offering.
Awesome wings. Spicy is beyond hot, building heat. Good stuff. Meals are excellent
The best Korean fried chicken I had in Ohio. But the spicy fried chicken might be too spicy for some people.
Fun Korean fusion food, cool atmosphere
Bonchon is a great place for reasonably priced delicious food, with great service! I'd tip 50% if I had the money
The lunch deal is my favorite deal. Their fries are to die for. I will never have regular fries again. The garlic tenders are flavorful and soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. I just can't think about it without drooling.
Bad customer service. They stop cooking at 9:00pm but advertise closing at 9:30pm.
Only the chicken is good. Service is ok. Rice is so hard I think they forgot to put water in it when cooking.
Good causal dining. Can definitely recommend the fried chicken strips. Go easy on the soju if you're driving.
Super "spicy" wings. But it was amazing. Very good food. Highly recommended.
I came here.
So tasty! Their parking lot is tough on cars though
The best KFC!
Fantastic chicken wings, will go back again.
My review for this restaurant in Union, NJ is a two star because the customer service is not good. They are not friendly or accommodating but the food is good. I don't go often because of the customer service.
Loved the tacos
Great service, went for dinner and it wasn't busy by any means. Food came out in a decent time frame, waitress was polite and helpful. Highly recommend
Prompt, very polite service. Very clean restaurant. Bibimbap with spicy chicken is excellent! Healthy sized portion. Very affordable for how much food you're served. Would recommend highly to anyone!
Awesome food great service, the chicken is absolutely fabulous. I like the soy garlic the best, the spicy is good too when I am up for spicy since it does have a little kick too it. Lots of other great food also.
We ordered fried chicken wings. Tasted ok overall, but the meat near the bone was undercooked. The source on top of the wings wasn't fully covered, so some parts of the wings tasted just like the regular chicken wings you can get from any other stores. Price is slightly higher. Won't visit again.
Loved it good food, good taste .good service.
Chicken was a little bit salty
The food was for the most part yummy. We enjoyed the Bibimbap and the wings were very yummy too. The food took like an hour - which is fine, she told me it would take that long - however, when it was delivered to us, it was cold! I had a ginger salad with salmon and because of the length of time in getting the food to us, the greens were wilted from sitting under the warm salmon. So it was kind of unappetizing. All in all, the food was good and we'll try them again.
The spicy wings are delicious and perfectly spicy, and that's the only thing I would return here for. Otherwise, the main dishes seem to be a mixed bag. Dishes without heat lacked flavor, while dishes with heat were almost ridiculously spicy, yet admittedly delicious. Also, aside from the spice, the food was steaming hot even twenty minutes after it was served! I really think they should have some sort of level system for their spice intensity, because as is, it's sort of ridiculous. The heat factor is either an 8 or a 10, no in-between. There's not a lot for the casual spice enjoyer, and servers don't even attempt to give the customer a warning when ordering the hotter dishes. None of the folks in my party finished more than a third of their food, it was just beyond being edible because of the spice level (and half of us are Latinos!). They really need to figure out a better balance between flavors! Service was relatively prompt, no problems there.
Ethan, the waiter, is super nice and sweet. Loved the food!!
Loved it!
Fried rice is not good considering the price.
I love to come here for spicy strips. Wife gets bibimbap and loves it. I always eat at least 20 strips. We never have problems here. Love the spicy sauce. I have tried the bulgogi, it's good but I didnt find it worth 16.99 to order it again. Service is probably hit or miss because since being open, I've never seen steady crowd of diners. I think that maybe there just isn't big demand for Korean chicken, but there should be. I find it freaking delicious.
Love this place! Fantastic food, great servers, clean
I loved my experience here. I ordered wings!!! Amazing!!!!!!!!!! The garlic or the spicy and they are QUITE SPICY! We also got fried rice and French fries. Quite DELICIOUS! Parking can be a nuisance since it is Franklin St. But still tasty nonetheless.
Tasty chicken! This is one of the better spots that I’ve been too. I waited a little longer, but it wasn’t too much and was way worth it! I love that this place gives a free bottle of water!
I can't believe that the closest BonChon to me is all the way in Union, 30 mins away... There needs to be one closer because Korean Fried chicken is the bomb!! I came to this BonChon in Union for the first time. Looks like just a take out place but you can dine there too. They were a bit understaffed as one waitress went around to take orders from 5 different tables. If you're going to order the fried chicken, order as soon as possible because that takes the longest to prepare (about a half hour). The fried chicken is what they're known for and it is absolutely delicious!! Other items we ordered were the udon noodle soup, the fries with spicy mayo, and the spicy chicken tacos. The fries with the mayo was pretty great - yummy appetizer that compliments the chicken. The udon was okay but not worth it ordering from BonChon... It just wasn't anything special. The chicken tacos were pretty good, but hear me out, go for the fried chicken!!! That is all.
Good but inconsistent service, great location with lots of seating. We are a huge fan of korean food and especially korean fried chicken. We have tried several Bonchon locations around the US and we are thrilled to have one in Chapel Hill. In terms of the wings the Bonchon is Richmond VA so far is the best of the ones I have tried. This location in chapel hill seemed to skimp too much on the sauce and precooked too much and as a result the chicken was too dry and lacking in flavor. Additionally, they did not offer wet naps like most other wing places and Bonchons do. There is a good deal of competition in terms of restaurants in Chapel Hill and it is the attention to detail that will make or break a place. To the owners add a little more sauce to the chicken and don't pre-double fry as it gets way too dry on the reheat. Tell your customers there is a little wait for the chicken it is OK if you are up front with them. In my opinion and experience if done properly it is well worth the wait. In summary the chicken wings we had at this location were much smaller than the other locations and seemed precooked to the point of being overly dry. Hopefully they will get the kinks worked out. For now if you want great korean fried chicken try H Mart or Soo's Cafe.
Great Chicken
Lunch special is a fantastic deal ! Chicken is cooked perfectly crisp, staff is always helpful. A regular spot I try to dine at
Great fried chicken. Nice place to grab lunch.
Love their chicken
We waited for our food for over an HOUR, after inquiring multiple times and various waiters disappearing into the kitchen and never coming back to let us know the status of our meal. Ended up leaving to get quick service someplace else, with three hungry children in tow. Disappointed.
The food was good. Staff is friendly. The decor at other Bonchon places is better.
Delicious food at a great price. Staff is also very friendly and helpful.
Pollo coreana delicioso
I went here on a Saturday at lunchtime with my family. It was quite busy, but we were seated right away, and the wait time for food was very reasonable. Six dollar (super delicious) cocktails are very reasonable for Franklin St. The chicken was superb. Fresh and tender, super crunchy crust. I didn't have the soy garlic, but the spicy wings have a really nice spicy/sweet flavor. I don't understand anyone complaining about the serving sizes of the chicken. My brother (who's sixteen and a bottomless pit) only just managed to finish all of his small serving, and said he was too full for dessert. Friendly staff. Definitely worth a try if you're in the mood for chicken.
Definitely had that distinctive Korean chicken crunch. One disappointment was the lack of variety of sauces for the chicken. Spicy and soy garlic are it. Both were good, but I would have enjoyed some more options. The fried chicken I had in Korea also had all chicken pieces, not just wings and drumsticks. The salmon avocado ball was tasty as were the potstickers.
A very different experience, the wings are fantastic and flavorful. They have a coating that gives the perfect crunch you would want with the wings. The French fries are delicious as well, they are very similar to rally’s but with a gourmet twist. Staff was friendly and the pricing is fair for the food. For two people we had a combo of 6 wings and 3 drumsticks along with their gourmet fries. That was enough for the two of us. Highly recommended.
Great food. My new addiction. Never been big on chicken wings but seem to find myself ordering it often lately here and enjoying it. I guess when it’s done to my liking I enjoy it. Their house fried rice is pretty good too and a lot for $9.99
Don't forget the rice and radish! Nomnomnom
Wings are very crispy, and the spicy wings have quite a bit of heat. The loaded fries are very good as well. Decor at this location is very plain and uninspired.
Good chicken, especially the strips.
I have visited several times for Korean style chicken wings and hanging out with friends. They have two flavors, spicy and soy based one. Like the soy better. People like to try spicy one, it is also good place to try. This place is clean and have nice services! Two Tumbs up!
I truly love this place. I work in Union No and it’s my favorite staff is friendly. The wait is A little long but it’s worth the wait. Good food every time!
Good food, fair price, great cocktails although their Moscow mule is definitely not a traditional mule. Maybe a Korean take?
Did not eat in this location but ordered take out. Parking is not convenient seeing is how it is on busy Franklin St but there is a parking deck nearby. We had 1/2 and 1/2 chicken wings with white rice. The wings are sooooo freaking good. The hot wings are actually too hot for my liking but were so good I couldn't stop eating them lol. The garlic wings were way safer and still delicious. Will definitely go back!! ** Finally had the opportunity to eat in this location. Plenty of seating. The wait staff is sooooo nice and friendly. Food was absolutely amazing. Will definitely go back!!
So... I will be honest. The food. It's good. I mean not crazy good, but good. Now, would I come back? No... The reason is because it's just not worth it. The prices do not reflect the service and the atmosphere. So, it's like rustic and kind of fancy but the servers wear t-shirts and shorts. It just does not work. They have valet parking, but the guys were just standing around talking about their nails... just not somewhere I would want to spend $60 for two people...
We had the soy garlic chicken with pork steam buns. The chicken is frozen and the pork was very dry. The portions were large, however, for the price. If you want Korean fried chicken, it's worth the drive to Soo Cafe in Raleigh.
Best Asian fried chicken I’ve ever had and the Kimchi cole slaw is 10/10 for those who love spicy food.
Food is OK, but not worth the money. The huge TVs are loud and distracting when you want to have a normal conversation with friends. Staff is nice and friendly. This is just my opinion, go there and experience it for yourself, I hope you have a better one.
This place has to make the best fried chicken in the world. I have been coming here for a few years and they have never disappointed with their food. The variety is what you would expect from mainly a take-out restaurant as such. They are attached to kung fu tea which is a great accompaniment to their chicken. The service was wonderful and fast and the food I picked up was hot.If you want grade fried chicken this is the place to go to.
The best ribs..
Terrible service! I waited 10 mins at the counter to get attended. I asked for chicken strips during lunch hours and they were all out. If you know you get busy during lunch hours, be well prepared. The wait for take out is 30-35mins.
This place is adorable. Food is great. It’s a new place so servers are new. But they try their best! The two owners are very sweet. Their NEW front of the house manger, PJ, is great.
My all time favorite place for Wings, my family and i come here at least 3 times a month sometimes 4. The spicy wings are the bomb!
Delicious wings, in either the original flavor or spicy variety! Go for a half and half order and try both flavors!
My first time, food was good will come back again.
Only been here twice. Love sitting on the outside deck. Great beer and the wife loves the Bonchon wrap.
I've seen a lot of mixed reviews for this place so I had to try it. Ordered bulgogi bibambap and it was amazing. No complaints here. Im coming back for sure
the Lady in the pink hair with glasses was very disrespectful she spit in my cup of ice and made me threw up a couple hours later with my family we were stacking up cans of brisk and told us to stop in a disrespectful way.
Service was slow but polite and well intentioned, and the food didn't taste the best but that might just be my pallette.
Love love love the wings...absolutely finger licking GOOD
The only reason i can give this place a 2 star is coz of the food. The food was good but not crazy good. Also the quantity is small for what they are charging. The service is patheticcccc. The order comes late. Ths order arrives and waitor tells you he will be right back with the napkins, he doesnt come back for an hour or so until being called. Not worth the price and service. But i liked the outside seating though.
A lot of fingers touching stuff behind the bar that were definitely not clean(;ex oranges lemons
One word can sum up everything I've ever tried from here: delicious! The drums are the best though. We call it chicken crack. It's so good you'll be hooked!
Spent $25 and asked for soy sauce and she goes “yea, that’s extra...”. Maybe you guys should use some common sense on that one.
Delicious food!
The food was good but when I asked for napkin for my to go order the white muscular server clicked his tongue. Not cool.
Went there expecting a Korean restaurant, but it's essentially a sports bar that serves Korean food. With that said, the food was pretty good.
The wings are so good! We always do half spicy and half soy garlic. The other food is hit or miss though. Sometimes it's good, and other times it's not. For instance, the first time I ordered the bimbimbap, it was pretty good. The second time, it was a bowl of mush when I started mixing it - the rice was WAY overcooked and the stone bowl was barely warm which means you don't get the crispy bits that the hot stone bowls usually give you. So definitely go, but maybe just stick with the fried chicken.
This is my third time having bonchon and I love it
Always ❤️ the chicken here but find the hot and spicy version varies in degrees of spiciness and not always consistent.
It's ok I really don't understand all the fuss is all about this place
Very Americanized Korean food
This was by far the worst Korean food I’ve ever had. It had no taste or flavor what so ever. The people leaving reviews most don’t have taste buds. Waste of 12 dollars.
Quick service you’re in and out and the food is great amazing experience I come here with family and friends to create memories and we surely do.
My family and I visited this restaurant for the first time today. Soooo delicious! Amazing light crisp on the chicken wings that was delightful to bite into. Flavor wasn’t overly intense but it was perfectly seasoned. Great for someone dipping their toe into something a little different. Give them a go!
Very good and tasty and the gentleman who took care of us was very professional
Excellent chicken wings but be forewarned the hot wings are no joke. The prices are a little high but worth the splurge every now and then. The service is usually pretty friendly.
Good stuff, but call ahead if you want take out to minimize your wait.
Amazing food, great service! The Udon noodle soup is awesome!
Fried rice has great umami flavor. Korean fried chicken always good too! Nice see.
Being a Southern boy, I was skeptical when my friends said "Korean fried chicken". I eventually went along with them and shared an order of bone-in wings (combination of sweet and spicy flavors). I was absolutely amazed at how good this chicken was. It was so, so crispy, but different from the thick-battered KFC chicken. The skin was thin and crunchy and glazed in a flavorful sauce, and the inside was still juicy. I am forever a fan. I also got the takoyaki (fried octopus balls) and pork buns (pork belly in a taco-shaped steamed bun). Both were great, but couldnt touch the fried chicken. The only thing about this place is that its awkwardly lit. Kinda dark and with white lights, giving an industrial vibe that doesnt really mix with the type of food they serve.
today we waited nearly an hour for our food. their wings are great, other dishes are good. the server was very nice about it, but i can't take two-hour lunches because of a disorganized kitchen.
Good Fresh food, service just ok
I love this place food is great and the wait is not long
Omg!!!!! I love this place.
Good food. Clean place. I'll be back for more!
Best Korean food in town. The wings and sauces are the bomb!
Chicken gets overpowering after a while, slaw was basic
Good fried chicken. Spicy or soy sauce is good, but sweet something sauce was so so. Lunch menu itens are fine for the price. If you want to try korean style marinated chicken, this place is a good choice.
Yummy yummy chicken.
I love the chicken strips sweet this I'd going to be my favorite places
Overall my husband and I were very disappointed in our experience at Bonchon. We’d previously heard positive things about the chain and excitedly awaited its arrival in Chapel Hill. We waited about 10-15 minutes to be seated once we arrived, which was no big deal. However, it took about another 15 minutes for us to have our order taken and then it took an hour for our food to come. We arrived over an hour before closing and we didn’t even receive our food until at least 30 minutes after closing. In terms of the the food, the chicken wings were tasty (despite the long wait), but the fries were INCREDIBLY small and overpriced. We ordered seasoned fries (which were $7) thinking they would be enough to share and that would be a specialty, step up from the regular fries (with fresh Parmesan and seasonings). They were not specialty, or enough for two people, they were literally just fries with seasoning with a portion size that I would’ve expected from the $4 fry option. It also took a really long time for us to receive our check and to go box. Honestly it kind of felt like everyone around was really unclear on what to do and restaurant operations/procedures. I definitely understand that there is a learning curve for a new restaurant, however this opening felt rushed. The bar isn’t stocked yet, service was extremely slow, and there were no managers walking around checking in about service. If you’re going to check this place out I’d wait a while and see if they work the kinks out. I’m not sure if I’ll be back because there are definitely other cheaper and faster Korean Fried Chicken spots nearby my home in Durham.
If you haven't had Bonchon chicken, you need to reevaluate your life choices.
One of those rare places where the food is so good, it doesn't even matter if the service isn't good.
Lives up to its big brother in K-Town NYC! Always get bone in here.
Food is good, but service can be a little slow at times.
First, let me get it out the way that the food was good and the service was fine. The biggest issue for me was that the bathroom was NOT accessible for wheelchairs. The bathroom was small and it had two stalls. The stall at the end was the accessible one and, strangely, the door opened towards me. But it didn’t open all the way, so there was barely enough room for a person who could walk to get into it. There was absolutely no way I could get into it. I went to the manager and showed her how it was inaccessible and she gave a lot of excuses about how the bathroom was already there before they bought the place and how they didn’t realize it wasn’t accessible. Part of being a business owner is knowing the laws. The fact that you don’t know how to follow the ADA and you never checked the bathroom to see if people could even get into the second stall is shady. Do better, make the changes, and maybe I’ll change your rating.
I luv my Korean!
Probably the best place in town for wings!
The chicken tacos have just the right amount of spice! The staff is always friendly. The food is prepared quickly.
Best chicken around eat the at least 3 times a week chicken strips with soy garlic and seasoned fries
Delicious food, fast service, reasonable price!
Listening to some of my favorite KPOP song while eating their delicious food was a great experience
I not many choice too choose from for the price...Don't think I'll go there again.
Long wait for food at lunch time
It was different from what I was used to. The food was very delectable and drinks were very good also.
Pricey but delightful. Both sauce options for the chicken are great and it's fried beautifully. Nowhere else around here to get takoyaki that I know of. The long wait to receive what were intended as appetizers simultaneously with our chicken was the only disappointment.
Good
We've been here a few times and the food is always delicious. The wings and bibimbap are fantastic. The service is great, too! Everyone has been fun and engaging. We love coming here!
Nice food
I was impressed, first time visit. Not too many customers. Lage selections on menue. I would say a bit pricey. Flavor of food varies from mild to spicy to hot. Open a wall to dine outside. Nice wood decor with a bar.
Best wings east of the Mississippi. The spicy ones were so good they made me cry
Service & food is great. French fries to die for. Spicy wings, couldn't stand the heat, had to get out the kitchen.
Great food; mediocre service; weak drinks
There were bugs in my salad - bad service too.
Good food, slow service
Get the fried chicken-it is without question the best I've ever had. Crispy on the outside but perfectly juicy on the inside. And the glaze on it had the perfect balance of honey, garlic, and saltiness. Also tried the chicken wraps, which had yummy spicy mayo. The french fries were crispy and delicious. And even the pickled radishes (which didn't sound that appetizing to me) were tasty and different. Furthermore, at the end of our meal my 2 year old son was presented with a complimentary ice cream dessert. This place looks small from the outside, but is spacious and delightfully decorated when you enter. Very clean. Looks like there is a space upstairs to have parties as well. Hope this place sticks around!!
Really good chicken, a tad overpriced though.
The wings were great.....great view of Franklin st...UNC !!..plan on going back during the next game...great environment
The garlic fried chicken here are SO good. Loved this place
The chicken wings are good , crispy , and well seasoned . They do take a while to prepare your order so I’d advise CALLING AHEAD !! The prices are okay.
The Best Korean restaurant I have ever had in Ohio. The fried chicken was so delicious and the hot stone bibimbap was amazing. After today’s visit, I have to say this place changed a lot. Glass noodle was over cooked and the drumsticks were much smaller than before. The toilet was not working!
Korean fried chicken done right. It tends to be slightly on the pricey side relative to other places around, but I say the flavor/quality makes up for it. Highly consistent with both taste and service. I recommend checking this place out. Just a heads up, the wait time isn't exactly speedy but that is expected with "double fried" foods
My husband and I go here all the time. The food is great. The service is even better. We usually order the chicken katsu and glass noodles with their AMAZING seasoned fries. It's a small cozy place where you can stop to get a quick bit. You can use your KeanBucks here as well. It's our go to when we don't know where to eat.
The fried chicken...yuuuuuuup
Very tasty! Waiter explained everything thoroughly for us and food was EXCELLENT!
Ok, we went here several months ago when getting treatment for my daughter, but I kept forgetting to do a review even though we can't stop talking about the taco's we had. Japchae... smokey taste of glass noodles cooked in the Wok, very very good. Bulgogi was delicious, the beef was super tender. We had the chicken strips that were not strips at all. These things were huge, they seemed to be deep fried, but not breaded. Whatever it is, it is was very good. We got a whole plate of them because they were half price, delicious!! The seasoned garlic fries were excellent. The Korean Tacos were the star of the show... and that is hard to say with so many stars. It was likely what we just had a taste for that day that made them the winner. We did non-spicy chicken because of the kids.. needless to say they only got one taco! hahahaha. We talked to one of the owners and we asked her when she was bringing this to Raleigh. They have been looking around, but rent is higher in Raleigh than Chapel Hill.
Nice place. Good, spicy, food. Nice big screens at bar.
Bonchon fried chicken has always been delicious and this location is no exception. To anyone reading this review, please give this place a try so that this restaurant doesn't suffer the same fate as so many other restaurants on Franklin Street.
If there was a way to give this place zero stars I would. I have tried eating here on four separate occasions. On every single occasion the service has been atrocious. Food has been late or the order has been wrong. Today we decided to call ahead half an hour so that they would have an order ready for takeout. Get there 10 minutes late I might add and guess what. Wings are not ready. Screw this place.
Awesome food, prices, and environment! Especially in the summer with the garage doors open.
OMG!!! Chicken is to die for & the shrimp wonton thingies.... yes. Definitely on the list of places to go!
Today I ordered a takeout of chicken sliders & shumai. Sliders were hard, not crispy, burned and extremely dry with not an ounce of flavor. They were also quite inconsistent. They had very little slaw, one had none, on one there was a piece of red onion but the dry chicken was the real issue. As a repeat customer, I felt it necessary to let the location manager know. Although he was polite, he was less than accommodating as he suggested I return today to receive a refund because his system would not allow it tomorrow! I stated that I paid via debit card and he could certainly refund me in cash tomorrow, when I'd be in the area again. As he rambled on with excuses, I told him I do not enjoy throwing money away on food. So, rather than haggle over the issue I would prefer NEVER eating there again and will suggest to my friends and family they do the same!
Good food, good drinks and fair prices
I ordered the bull dak & my rice cakes were hard. The rice tasted like water. The chicken was barely seasoned. & they took WAYY to long which doesn’t make sense cuz if it is taken that long to prepare my food then it should be properly cooked. Portions were small compared to what I could get for $6 at a papi store. I wish I cud give this no stars.
Nice place if you like fried chicken. Good quality food and BYOB establishment
The food is great. The drinks are nice too.
Tasty!! Today was the 1st time trying had to see what all the talk was about.
Love this chicken!!
Best wings: crunchy & delicious.
Great chicken. They have lunch specials all the time and the service is fast. Go for the 8 peice with both hot and normal.
Great place and food
I had the fried tenders with both sauces. The spicy is really spicy! I also had the japchae. Soooo good!
The service the food is always superb fresh cooked food is always worth the wait and the 2 hour drive from Columbus to Seven Hills
We were very impressed by their excellent service and kind staff. We love their fried chicken. We will come again. Thank you for a lovely meal.
Food is good, but just a bit pricey
I love bibimbap at that place.
Very good!!! Just an advise, if you're going or order on a Friday or Saturday night order early . They get very busy!!!! But food is delicious!!!!
I just went to this restaurant for the first time today and I really enjoyed it and I will be back. I had to bibimbap and it was so good! I also ordered the radish and the kimchi, I highly recommend it! It was very reasonably priced, great trendy atmosphere, clean and great service! The happy hour last until 7 with great specials, I'll be back for sure!
So good and great selection of spicy food. Service and hostess not so great.
Best fried chicken I've ever had. The chicken is so crispy that it sounds like you're eating potato chips.
Some of the best chicken
I came and ordered a small order of 5 drum sticks and it took 30 minutes for the order
Clean, friendly staff. The food is really spicy...
The food is fantastic and so is the bar... ;)
Food great. Flavor outstanding on all our choices different wings, drumsticks
I was pleasantly pleased with my meal, the atmosphere, and the people. They hit it out of the park. Reasonable pricing too. Great chicken too.
The food was good and relatively cheap. I liked the pork buns a lot. I will be eating here again. I got take-out but the eat-in restaurant space looks pretty nice.
I've been to Bonchon in Chicago but this Bonchon was alot different. The food is the same but the service was pretty bad. The restaurant was essentially empty and the food still ended up taking forever. We got the ranch we asked after having to remind the waiter 15 minutes after we originally asked for it. Not sure if it was a one off situation but I would still recommend going to this place for the food. Amazing fried chicken that has a crispy crust to it. Can't beat the flavor of the chicken as well.
I visit this restaurant almost every time I visit my daughter at UNC in Chapel Hill. My daughter and I normally order the half and half wings and drumsticks and the chicken fried rice and have never been disappointed! We really enjoy this place!
Me and the fam came for the first time and loved it we got a couple things and shared it
I’ve never written a review about a food establishment before but my food and my friends food was so horrible that I’m writing one. She got the salmon avacado ball and it literally tasted like melted plastic, it was inedible plus there was no avacado in it. I got the bonchon wrap which also was supposed to contain avacado but had none in it. The fries were hard and disgusting, they were definitely sitting out since they opened. Overpriced garbage food.
Our table was filthy, our waiter did not come back to take our order for 25 mins. There were only 4 tables in the restauarant seated and we were our waiters only table. Also, our waiter was the chef too, so if that doesn't scream understaffed, I don't know else would. We left before putting our order in and were happily served our meals within 20 minutes of being SEATED at Fast Eddie's down the road.
Little girl at the cashier was rude, kept arguing over a little thing of spicy mayo. I come here often and she ruined my whole experience. Won't be coming back.
A far cry from my experiences in Korea. Food was subpar. Service was moderate but not great or fast pace like most Korean places. Atmosphere was so so.
I can't wait to go back and try more food!! Delicious doesn't sound strong enough really. The staff was great! I will definitely be going back!!
Been eating here about a year now, leaving this review to say that the staff is top notch, Dave at the bar specifically is a real good dude who went above and beyond for me today. Food is always as good as it was the first time, the soy garlic chicken strips are excellent!
Great fried chicken
delicious food. love the bibimbop and bulgolgi!!
Such spice. A bit price. They burned the bibimbap rice. That was not that nice.
Over priced RIP off, they take five wings and cut them in half and call it and order of ten wings, and charge almost $15.00 for that the chicken is not worth the money.
Had the fried chicken and mixed rice. It was delicious. Ignore all the people complaining about no bar and wait times. The sign on the door says SOFT opening. People should be grateful they even let them in as most soft openings are limited to friends and families of the workers. The whole point is to work out any kinks and grease up the staff. Be patient and enjoy the dank chicken. Sauce - 10 years of culinary experience.
Best damn wings I've had in a while!! Service was a little slow but it was a Wednesday evening...
Wings are cooked really well but can be a bit dry sometimes. Ask for extra sauce and the flavor is phenomenal. Best potstickers I’ve ever had
Nice
Great service. Great food.
Love the wings and takoyaki. Lots of other pretty good items on a menu with nice variety. There's usually a short wait even if you order ahead for pickup. But service is great. Place is even better now with the adjoining Kung Fu tea. Parking some times not close, but reasonable.
Wings were absolutely fantastic and I highly recommend them, however, everything else we ordered was just okay at best, so unless you want wings, go somewhere else.
Hadn't eaten KFC in years. Bonchon is really good and reminded me why I love it so much. It's a chain, yes, but a really good one.
A very good place to eat Korean, the wings are unique and worthy of the cost, and the Korean taco although spicy is oh so worth the heat. Try it you'll like it!
Soy garlic wings are life! Highly recommend. I tell everyone about this place. Only issue is that the cost adds up QUICK! worth it every now and then thou. Eating it rn.
Great service great wings.
Great food! Very clean and nice seating. Staff is super friendly and welcoming.
We had been told how fantastic this place was by a waiter at a local restaurant. It was okay. Sort of the Chipotle of Korean food. Sadly I can't say that it would be worth an intentional trip back. Nothing was bad. Nothing was great.
Delicious
Gross and broke. Went to Shanghai Dumplings afterwards (not affiliated with either establishments)
We get half and half drumsticks, it is so delicious. The spicy is spicy, so be prepared. The soy garlic is not spicy and my kids love it. Be prepared to pay for everything a la carte. You have to buy bowls of rice, which sucks, but the taste of the food is great. Does get pricey. We only order the fried chicken, not the other Korean dishes, so we can't rate those.
Loved the food and service both!!
Quality is real, flavors genuine. Personel eager to help those whose visit is their first
Amazing Korean food. Originally did not want to come here but decided to sit down and try it. Chicken wings are amazing. If you love spicy wings, this is the place for you since the wings are really spicy. Potstickers are very sweet and you can barely taste any veggies. The fried rice is something to die for. Everything here taste fresh and not frozen. The Kung Fu Tea next door is connected and it's an amazing place to try bubble tea.
Absolutely delicious! They're fried rice and soy garlic chicken are great!
This is a good place to go if you want something quick to eat but need to sit down. The chicken is lightly fried compared to other places. The sauce leobided pairs well with the chicken. The rice is like anything you would get at a Chinese restaurant.
The wings here are soooo good. I think they double fry them or something because they are so cripsy. They definitely use rice flour for the coating which also lends to the crispiness they achieve!
Clean restaurant, service mediocre, food OK. Wouldn't go back.
I love their fried chicken and japchae. However, other than those affordable wings, other dishes are pretty expensive for what you get
Great wings (medium combo with 1/2 & 1/2 sauce) and appetizers. Service was excellent. Beer list looked pretty solid. We'll go back and try more sides with the wings.
Chicken is fantastic services OK
Damn good. Be careful ordering the spicey if you dont like spicey food. It's has a big time kick. Pretty good ethnic choices. Fantastic fried chicken. Service staff has always been exceptional.
Food was good but not worth the price.
Little heavy on the sauce but great!
I had the chicken wings and seasoned fries, very tasty. They told me I had a 15 min. wait but it did not take that long.
Limited menu but everything is great. Spicy actually means spicy at Bonchon. The spicy fried chicken is a must. The bibimbap and jap chae are very good.
Just Yummy!!! Thank You for the great food always!!!
Excellent lunch spot with plentiful street parking. Great chicken katsu over fresh salad. Kirin beer on tap!
This is totally not authentic Korean food. So disappeared.
I noticed a lot a bad things about this restaurant. During weekends, they don't give out the lunch special menus, so people are getting cheated from their money. And when I ordered online there was a HIDDEN TRANSACTION FEE after I confirmed my order. I checked again on the website and there was no hint about being a TRANSACTION FEE for ordering online. Such a scummy way to do business.
Not the best Korean fried chicken I've ever had. Somewhat overpriced for what it was. Service was lacking (brought us out the wrong side). Meh.
I have been to Bonchon twice, once for lunch and another for dinner. Now, in the triangle, you kinda have limited options for Korean fried chicken and I think Bonchon does it best, better than the chicken place at H mart. Both times, the chicken has been hot and delicious with a light crispy skin - the hallmark of korean fried chicken! You have the option of soy garlic or spicy or half and half. I prefer the soy garlic but if the soy garlic and spicy sauce had a baby, that would be my dream come true. For side dishes, I love the pickled radish ($1) since the tartness cuts the chicken fat nicely but the restaurant also does seasoned fries that are crispy outside, fluffy on the inside and definitely worth ordering. I'm not a fan of the deokbokki which tasted like straight up gochujang. If you have trouble with spice, this deokbokki is definitely spicy and not for you. Bonchon does lunch specials that are reasonable $8-$10, and the service was pretty fast both times I visited. When I came ovee for dinner with friends, the service was amazing. The owner allowed us to watch the Pyongchang olympics opening on the TV and even handed us the remote. She was so sweet and walked us out of the store when we left too. Definitely will visit again and again!
Great food, multiple televisions for any kind of sports games, and great atmosphere. Highly recommend to anyone. Bibimbap is my go to, but the Korean fried chicken is also amazing.
Very good lunch wrap! Wonderful service.
Food is good, awesome friendly staff ( they know my order without asking) would highly recommend them.
Came here a handful of times when they first opened up. The chicken is perfectly cooked fresh when you order, however the price is a bit of a deterrent, which is why I haven't been back in a while.. The lunch special is a bit more affordable though, if you are by the area during lunch.
Friendly service. The fried chicken is crispy and the sauces are delicious.
I had a server named Loooorna. She was very sweet and willing to help me figure out what to order. I really enjoyed the experience. She didn’t rush my table like some servers and actually took the time out of her day to have a conversation with me.
8/30/2019 Went back to Bonchon to day been trying to get out since May . so disappointed, the food was great service from Mark was horrid, so disappointed, he didn't know what the difference between the lunch menu size and the dinner menu chicken ketchup, told us not to try the new flavor sauce for our. Chicken. Said it was not good don't get it , eleven after I expressed I don't want spicy sauce, brought our lunches before the apps , we did tell him, we understand that the chicken takes awhile, he never put our app order in then more or less forced the wings instead of drumsticks on us , I had to ask for refills on my pop. The food was awesome , always is but the service was bad maybe mark should not wait tables . oh did I mention this was after lunch my son and I where the only table and a couple at the bar . It took me awhile to get back over there now I'm not sure I would take the time to drive the turnpike and traffic on 77 to come back . About a year ago..Awesome crispy chicken , my hubby was warned his meal he ordered would be spicy hot and it was , mine was just right.
I certainly like their dishes and customer service, fantastic area very close to my apartment. The cashiers are always nice. Would recommend to others.
Food was good but the service could have been better
No service, etc..
Great food
Nice staff and the food was good. They have a bunch of lunch specials, which is nice. I got the wings when I went I think.
Great chicken wings! Very crispy!
A great introduction to Korean food. We shared the salmon avocado ball and each had seafood bibimbap for our entree. This was my first experience with Korean food and overall I enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Our server was polite and attentive as well.
Good Korean chicken strips at a somewhat fair price, although it could be a bit cheaper for what you get. Good seating and if you go at an abnormal time the entire place will be empty. I recommend the half & half chicken strips and the seasoned fries.
Really good korean fried chicken in northern nj. Don't have to drive to Edison or Palisades park to get my korean fried chicken fix. Only downfall is that they don't deliver, and a bit pricey compared to regular kfc or popeyes. They have the soy garlic, and spicy chicken wings which are really spicy!
I have been waiting for Bonchon to open for months! They are really popular up North where I am from. I recommend you ask for you chicken to fried EXTRA hard (it is crispy already but this is even better) with extra sauce brushed on the chicken. The Soy garlic is better over the spicy because it has more flavor and I do not mind heat but heat with flavor. I highly recommmend! It is better than Soo Cafe hands down!
Good Selection, Friendly Service.
Excellent food and service!
Good Korean fried chicken. Great value for money!
Loved the chicken! The hot wings are actually spicy and the regular wings are delicious too. We ordered a noodle dish that was SO good as well. We’ll be back!
Fast casual Korean. Wings are crispy and tasty. Bibimbap was good. Bull Dak was terribly overcooked. Tokoyaky was bland with one tiny piece of octopus in the center that could be chewed for days. I guess it's what I expected, but with a little effort, could have been much better.
Chicken is good
This chicken was delicious I recommend garlic soy boneless chicken ..very flavorful
Good pricing for a lot of food, nicely seasoned, and would come back
Service is always great! Chicken fried rice is delish!!
Don't go here for the ambiance, but the chicken is great! Nice staff. Quick service. Big portions.
Get kimchi and BULGOGI put the kimchi over the rice. It was good .
3 times in a row tried the spicy extra sauce & soy garlic. Best wings eva!
Best chicken ever!
Great chilled spot.. I will definitely come back. Caitlyn was a great waitress.
Inconsistent service
Great Korean choices of food. The wings are unique and good. The salad with chicken was so so. But the rest of the food is really good.
The food there is awesome, specially the chicken and the fries and free street parking.
Having been here a half dozen times or so, i have never once had anything other than a fantastic meal. The chicken is great, the Korean food is fantastic, and while it is slightly pricey, they have a well balanced lunch menu that is perfect for someone who works in the area. Arguably the best Korean food in the area so i would encourage anyone interested to try it.
It was great. I loved the chicken wings best.
Amazing fried chicken
Best fried chicken!!
Expensive but their food is totally worth it. Their takoyami and fried rice are so yummy. And lemme tell you, when they say spicy, it means spicy.
Great food. Wait was kind of long even though they weren't busy. But it was well worth the wait.
The chicken is good there but worker not to friendly dont know about other food
Great chicken wings and seasoned fries. Very friendly hostess.
Good food. They have bigger portion of fries unlike the other Bonchon we go to.
GREAT FOOD!
If you like Bonchon chicken highly recommended if your in the Union, New Jersey area.
Lets just say by the time google ask "hows the service" I've already placed my second order of chicken for pick-up...mmmmmmmm crispyyy
even though we arrived late...15 minutes to closing on a sunday night...we were served graciously and the food was outstanding..we will be back again
We had a great experience dining at Bonchon during their first week of being open. The wings were so good, so crispy, so delicious. Just like the Bonchons I have been to in DC. We had a great server named Michael who was very attentive and welcoming. We were able to meet two of the owners who checked in on us and introduced themselves. They were especially sweet and accommodating to my 1 year old son. So happy they are here in Chapel Hill and looking forward to next time.
Have been here now for an hour and am still waiting on our food they brought us out our rice 10 minutes ago but still no entry i do not recommend
Chicken in garlic flavor is made to order. Tasted good. Wait is about 20 minutes. Best to call ahead. Take out is available
Good salty chicken
This was my first visit! I loved it and I will definitely be returning. I had the korean spicy chicken tacos, wings, and fried dumplings. Made me wanna slap my mama, but then I came back to reality
Bonchon does Korean Fusion food right. Every time I come they always have something delicious. Their signature though is their take on fried chicken. It is the most delicious fried chicken I've ever had. There has been multiple times I have gone, eaten something else, but then taken an order of their soy garlic fried chicken home with me. If nothing else, it is most definitely worth visiting just to try the fried chicken. Plus Bonchon also offers a variety of Korean inspired fusion alcoholic beverages that are all equally tasty; my favorite being the whiskey ginger. If you are in the area and have a taste for some delicious Asian food or some bomb fried chicken, Bonchon is the place for you!
Best fried chicken you will ever have.
The chicken strips are excellent! Be careful with the spicy ones!
Love the soy garlic wings
Pricey but delicious!
To the gentleman who answered the phone at 6:31pm on Monday, Sept 2, 2019, shame on you. If I could give separate reviews here I would. I ordered the Bul Dak first time and to my surprise didn't look like photo which isn't usually for a food order, but most importantly, there was no sign of a vegetable except for the scallion buried beneath. Sucks, cause I took my time and ordered specifically because it said there were steamed veggies. Both Yelp and Grubhub clearly state and GH (where I ordered) has a very clear photo of Bul Dak with vegetables on the side. When a customer calls and explains that there are no veggies in meal, please don't attempt to read the menu and then hang up when clearly the customer was correct. Also, don't act like the business phone doesn't work when customers call specifically with an issue but it works fine to place an order. Very disappointing since I occasionally enjoy some Bonchon but I won't be ordering from here again. Manager/Owner needs to address customer service.
Delish food
Perfect for a cold Sunday!
The service was great and the food was great, exactly what I expected from this restaurant (having been to many other locations). I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area, though the only reason I won’t go back is because of the distance.
Great food and service@ a good price.
Love love love this place the food is delicious.
This place is unique sports bar thats serves korean food. There's nothing like it. The chicken wings are to die for. You want a great meal with quick service, this is the place...did I already mentioned the chicken wings?...
Great food. Let us place an order closs to closing. Friendly staff.
The food is awesome
Its been a long time since i had some good Korean food. A group of coworkers went out for lunch and decided to try something new. So went to this place. And its great food. Will definitely be going back again and again. The wings are amazing. I do want to try some more of the other dishes.. If you like spicy go for the dak bull.
Awesome! Staff was great and the food came out quick and hot! Will be back!
Amazing chicken and the fries were delicious! Great choices and service.
It is a bonchon but tastes nothing like the bonchon in philly on cherry as street. If u have ate at the one on cherry street then that's how its suppose to taste . This one is just thrown together nothing tastes the same and anything I have ordered seems to be rushed and thrown together . They rarely ever answer and introduce the store as bonchon...so u have to ask is this bonchon . But ayyy that's chain restaurants for ya .
Great food. I recommend boneless wings with so garlic sauce. The coleslaw is great, if that's your sorta thing. The onion rings are pretty good too
Love the chicken! Excellent food, friendly & helpful staff!
Excellent food
This place is great. The food is good, a bit on the pricey side. More fusion than strictly korean.
Sooo good
Everything was going great. The food was good, the environment was good. Then, I asked for a take out container.... The waitress brings me the container, and I go to open it to put my udon soup in, when I look into the container. There was a large multi legged bug in the container!! I leave the container closed and walk over to the waitress to show her. She's freaked out, along with the other employees as they gather around to stare. None of us knew what type of bug it was. Long story short, they gave me a small discount to the meal, and apologized profusely, but, that left a bad taste in my mouth. I don't think I'll be going back.
Nice upscale restaurant. Had the Bulgoki. It was excellent. $7-$10 Appetizers. $12-$20 entrees. Lunch portions just under $10. Beer and wine selection.
Not exactly what I expected, taste of the food was underwhelming and the chicken seemed a little overcooked
The wings are delicious!
The food I got was bad but the service was very good.
Super delicious, crispy wings! Great hot stone bibimbop too!
I would like to just state this is still a SOFT Opening. In other words people are being very unbiased with their reviews that stay perminantly on this Google Business Listing. They are still working on perfecting everything and everyone. Give them time, they are working hard as you can tell when you go there and the food is great. I'm sure the portions for fries will get bigger when they Officially Open. But, for now yes there is kinks but it's going to be perfect soon. So it still deserved a 5 star rating in my opinion since I know this place will be amazing in short time.
Spicy but amazing!
I love this place! Always great food and service.
Love the food. I always order takeout and its always hot and ready for me when i get there. The staff is friendly but there is always someone new. But at least they're friendly, right?
Fried chicken is extremely juicy and tender. However, the sauce (ginger soy) is overly sweeet. Fried rice is too oily and sweet as well.
Food is good.. but waiting time is way tooo long..
We loved it. The wings were cooked to a perfect balance in tenderness and moisture. As a heads up the spicy wings are extremely spicy and I do enjoy spiciness.
Bit overdue on this review, but this place really gives the bonchon chain a bad name. Service is super slow, and just plain bad. Plus, the chicken is nowhere near the quality of what bonchon should be (and in my case - wasn't even fully cooked). I was so excited to hear that they'd open one of these up, but this place definitely fell flat of expectations. At least there's still M Koko in Durham...
The chicken with soy garlic sauce
This place was awesome
I was so excited to find a place that had takoyaki!! Their bibimbap is really too and our server was really nice!
Great food!
Food is okay. Always loved Bonchon even back in the Philippines (though its a bit different back there). People who worked there are mostly nice. 4 stars beacause the place dont look that clean and there is only 1 functional high chair out of 4 and it is very dirty. Sticky in all sotts of way. Would not let my kid sit there. The other 3 are on the side broken.
The bon chon wings are very good.
They some of the best spicy sauce on the planet!
Far beyond my expectations. Great value for an extraordinary meal. I'm definitely returning
Great chicken wings
I like the soy garlic wings that they got here. Very tasty, that's about all I order from there so I would highly recommend them. It's 12 bucks for a small order of wings but I think it's worth it
The chicken was really good! The breading on the skin was thin and crispy without being greasy. Flavors were good but I couldn't really taste the difference between the two types of sauces we got. We also got the Tteok-bokki since I was craving some but I think you can skip this dish. It was good but spendy for what it is.
Overall, we think it's a bit pricey place. The owners are actually Chinese and it was my first time to try Korean fried chicken so I really had no idea what to look for. Japchae was really good, a bit pricey though considering the portion size. Tried fried chicken combo with spicy sauce and garlic soy sauce. Although I love spicy everything, I got to say the garlic soy sauce was tastier than the spicy sauce. And the wings are tastier than the drumsticks as the meat inside the latter were almost flavorless, very juicy though. They didn't have dessert on the menu but we did try some Mochi Ice Cream they had shown the picture on the table and they were just great! We probably will go there again try some other stuff on the menu. Environment was good and they have 2nd floor too.
Really great food! Diverse dishes, good for adventurous eaters, yet still fine for my younger kids. Not too busy, though. Good service as well.
It's honestly a gamble everytime, either greasy as all hell or best chicken on Franklin.
These wings are a game changer! My husband and I love the pickled radishes too.
One of my favs but doesn’t seem to be the same if reheated and eaten the next day. And spicy is truly spicy.
Reasonably priced and pretty tasty. I had no issues during my visit, but I've heard a few complaints. This location just recently opened, so most issues with service will probably be resolved as the staff is trained.
Nice spot, haven't been on Franklin Street in a while saw it on the way to time out do decided to stop by. Ordered the wings and they were pretty good. I next time I'll stop by for an entree, I definitely recommend
Great chicken... but it's a bit too pricey! Granted it's done their way... but with SO MANY fried chicken choices now-a-days, I'm curious to know if they are trying to be competitive price wise, or it really doesn't matter to them and being the Bentley of fried chicken is okay. Would love to eat from there more often... but it's just a bit too rich for my blood to consume regularly. Hence the 4 stars. But the chicken is to die for... I will say that.
Best damn chicken you will ever bite into, the sound of biting into these wings will have you craving more.
The food was excellent. I can't wait to explore the menu.
Stopped by on a Saturday night around 7:30pm and got seated right away. Modern atmosphere with a simple food and drink menu. This place specializes in medium spicy garlic fried chicken and most of the dishes come with it. I had the Korean Chicken Tacos and the wife had the Hibachi Chicken, both were delicious and around $11 a plate so a little pricey but not terrible as it filled us up. My buddy got an 8pc chicken plate with some hibachi chicken rice on the side and that filled him up with leftovers to spare. I’d get something else on the side besides just a chicken plate as it’s kind of boring by itself. A group next to us was doing saki bombs so you can get those and they looked legit with chopsticks holding up the shot!
Great food! Great service!! Amazing atmosphere!!! What else can you ask for!!!!!!
Great food spicy chicken fast service
Very good food! Best ever!
The wings are amazing! All of the employees are wonderful. I am definitely going to return. I suggest trying everything.
Korean Fried Chicken = Crack So addictive‼️A little pricey but totally worth it
Love this place. The house fried rice is the best Asian rice I've ever had. Amazing wings. Sake is where it's at!
Good service. Good food.
Friendly atmosphere. Good service. Food was pleasant but rice could be cooked better.
I go here for the soy garlic wings!!! Good customer service too.
They need to take some pointers from the nutley location. The first time I ordered wings they had hair on the tip and the taste was totally off . The second time my tacos were toasted which took all the flavor from them besides the chicken wasn't good at all. This will be my last time coming to this 1. Very disappointed twice
Visited for the first time in Chapel Hill. We ordered appetizers. The chicken wings were amazing as well as the pickled radish. Will definitely be back. The only downside is it is quite noisy and not the best atmosphere.
I was at bonchon and find it extremely welcoming, as soon as you come in you choose your own seat in which Is most comfortable to you, The waiters are nice and have a great sence of humor. Waiters are extremely helpful,I was eating and happened to not be getting enough food up with my chopsticks and the server we had helped me be able to get more. The menu is simple and seperate in to parts. Overall extremely welcoming and amazing service.
My first time at Bonchon was a great one. The service was good and the food was even better. Been waiting for more Korean restaurants to open in the Akron : Cleveland area and very grateful. Heard Bonchon opened awhile ago but haven’t had a chance to go until recently... Soy Garlic all the way! Can’t wait to try more selections on the menu.
Korean.
Love the food here! Drumsticks and the wings are really good.
Food great Parking area filthy
Excellent fried chicken wings, just right bloody Mary with adorable and tasty garnish.
Great food, a little on the recursive side of your feeding a family but not over-priced. If you're into wings then this place has the thing for you. They don't have a lot of flavors but the flavors they have are phenomenal! Highly recommend.
I was craving for fried chicken for a week and decided to drive 25 mins after a long day at work to this place. After that first bite of the spicy fried chicken wings, I realized I made a great decision. The wings are spicy with a hint of sweetness. The other dish is rice cakes with Korean chili paste. BonChon taste the same here in Cleveland as the ones in NYC. Definitely recommend.
Had takoyaki, chicken bibimbap, and a side of kimchi. All were outstanding! Really glad to see more decent food of this kind in downtown Chapel Hill. Congrats on the opening!
Easy to place a to go order. Wings were a big hit with my family!
I was so happy a Bonchon finally opened up in this area. I first experienced Bonchon when I visited Boston and it was amazing. However, I'm sad to say that this Chapel Hill location doesn't meet the expectations. The food was incredibly slow. Be prepared to wait up to 45 minutes. The wings barely have any meat and look more like tiny drumsticks. In fact, some customers have complained that they ordered wings and received drumsticks instead because that's how much they look like tiny drumsticks. Additional sauces and rice cost money. The bibimbap stone pot is too hot and overcooked the rice. Normally the stone pot is supposed to make the rice crunchy, but it burnt the rice instead.
I ordered takeout and they had it ready when I got there! Not only was it fast, but the chicken strips and fried rice I ordered were amazing, still warm and absolutely delectable. I'll definitely recommend this place to friends
Awesome wings! Great place!
Overall not a bad location. Food is delicious and is connected to a King Fu Tea next door. Not sure if this happens a lot, but wait time for certain cooked foods that we're not the wings were absurd. My group ordered the Fish Ball and japchae and didn't get them until 45-50 minutes of waiting, meanwhile we got the wings way before. Not the waitress’s fault, but she could have given us realistic wait times instead of saying "It's coming soon" each time we asked. Not a huge deal for us, but could be for others, so something to consider. Likely to come back, hopefully timing of food is a bit better.
I love Bonchon! Their chicken wings is very addictive. I cant give it a full 5 stars tho, coz 1.price---its expensive in terms of chicken wings. 2.their takoyaki is always soggy. 3. The japche is a little bit bland. Their chicken is top notch!! I cant stress that enough!!! So 4 stars!!!
The menu and service were beyond my expectations. I truly liked the environment of this spot. Superb place to take the family out for dinner.
They served delicious spicy chicken wings and drumsticks. Must try. Other food are average.
Love their chicken! They need an affordable dinner combo though.
The fried chicken here is incredible & very unique unlike any other fried chicken I've ever had. I love the lunch special options because you definitely get a lot for the price. The soy garlic sauce that the chicken is made in is finger licking good. I highly suggest you stopped by here & enjoy the food.
My first time eating Korean food and it was amazing!!! Their cole slaw is out of this world and the staff is extremely courteous. Definitely going eat there more often.
Awesome food and a great staff, if you haven't tried their chicken you absolutely need too. You'll be hooked
The food isn’t too bad however the gentleman in the front who takes the to go orders has a very nasty attitude.I came about two weeks ago and I overheard him talking about how he disliked his job and then today I told him that the last time we were here you were mean to us and he said “I don’t know what your talking about!!” Instead of saying oh I apologize for that and just be nice going forward .He did the exact opposite I love great food but I’m big on customer service and they just don’t have it here at all . I then complained t the manager and he stayed the young man has been here for 4 years and he has never heard asnyhing wrong so basically discredited what I said which is fine I’ll never come here again .
Generous portions, the wings really are outstanding.
This place is awesome and authentic
Great food. Decent prices.
A little pricey, but excellent quality Korean fried chicken. When they first opened things were a little slow but they've really gotten it together. Be prepared for a bit of a wait, everything is fresh and made to order. They don't offer the sauces on the side.
Food was very good! This is a neat restaurant that looks geared toward a trendy crowd. Careful of how spicy you want your food, when they say hot they mean hot.
I love the soy garlic chicken but the spicy was a bit much for my taste
I don't usually post, but this was the worst service I've ever had. The waitress brought no utensils. She brought the food out put it on the end of table. Had us wait well she took other orders in front of us, even tho we were there first.
