Came in for the happy hour special. Atmosphere is cool and chic. Ordered the dollar oysters and shrimp which were pretty good. But the garlic truffle fries were amazing. They came with this kimchi mayo which was soooo good. Lastly we got the soy and garlic chicken wings. Will be back. Follow @morgan_eats_ on Instagram!!

Funky little spot right by Union Square. Very good overall service, and reasonable prices backed by a well-cooked and tasty menu. I thought the menu was a little too seafood-focused, my only complaint. Additionally the decor is odd. In some spots it is swanky and hip, but where we say the sealing is literally plywood with bulbs hanging. Felt like a construction site, and the tables are *very* close to one another. Would absolutely come back, but you have to take it for what it is: a busy spot in a busy location.

Richard Leong

Nice happy hour. Swanky yet cozy vibe

Tami Hoang

I made a reservation online, so I got to spin their wheel for a free appetizer. The decor was fun and the BBQ was great. My friend and I split the seafood combo and it was so much food! The dessert was also great. I had the churros and it was fantastic.

Phillix Esquea

The place was so nice and the food was great with a big selection! Service was also very quick and accurate.

Mickla Littlefoot

Delicious small plates and cocktails for happy hou.

Michelle Heng

Uni bimbimbop across the street from my train is the perfect combination :)

Shaquenda Peay

Can you say AH MAZE ZING! I come here often now. There’s a great happy hr but the best thing on the menu is the shrimp dumplings

J Liu

If you are here for happy hr, make sure to specify to the hostess. Sat in the back end of the restaurant to be informed that happy hour is limited to the front and bar area. Our waiter was happy to change table for us to be seated in the front area. Service was great and prompt even during peak happy hr time. The food was great for sharing and the atmosphere was great for chatting. Also, there is no Korean BBQ served here.

Stéphanie Thomson

Best happy hour in town. Nice selection of (strong) cocktails for $9 and house wine and beers for $7. It’s the snacks that really make it. Truffle fries for $6 and chicken wings for $8, I think it was. The portions are really generous as well. It’s a great choice when you have a dinner reservation nearby but want to grab something light before.

I mourned the departure of Heartland Brewery from Union Square, but in its exact same place Barn Joo came along, and everything is fine again. This is one of my favorite Korean restaurant-bars anywhere -- great bites/sips/views, warm interiors, and an eclectic crowd any day/night of the week!

Joyce Liang

Definitely recommend the cocktail and oysters on their happy hour menu

The food and ambiance was not bad. But, the service was shocking. The first half of the time my family spent there was fine. Then, it started when we ordered the extra bowl of rice. We wanted to get another bowl since there was no rice to go with the meat. So, we ordered, waited 15-20 minutes, asked our server two or three times what happened to the rice. By this time, our meat was all cold. So, I asked her to go heat it up. Maybe it's just Murphy's Law, but right after she took away the meat to get it heated up, the rice arrived. Of course, now the meat took another 10 minutes or so to have heated. By that time, the rice was cold and we had just about had enough. So, I asked for the check, did not touch the rice or the meat again and left. The restaurant had the audacity to still charge me for the rice and the meat, which we only had a few pieces of. My family and I will never go to that restaurant again. My son was so distraught that he started complaining about NYC overall. By the way, the manager never even stopped by to apologize although the server did apologize for the long wait.

Greg V

Overall this is a great place with great food and great service. The food is a little pricey for what you get but they have some creative dishes. The bulgogi burrito was a really interesting combination and surprisingly worked even better than it sounded. I stopped back and tried the lunch special bulgogi and while tasty, was definitely overpriced compared to other Korean restaurants.

eden brachot

Food was good and service was great, grade pending sign in the window always puts me on edge

Tayo Adjapon-Yamoah

Food was good but the service was atrocious. Once food was brought out we needed some soy sauce. Asked a server and a waiter twice and took over half an hour to get it finally. Hostesses were a little rude. They seem understaffed and stressed.

Kristel Rodriguez

Dope little spot. Nice Happy Hour deals. Perfect date spot. The chicken wings are heavenly.

Whenever I spot a $ oyster happy hour in the city, I would go try it and this time is at the new Korean fusion restaurant in Union Square. First look, I love the decor, a bit rusty and waiter service is fairly good except they messed up some other person orders twice in the duration I was there. Thoughts: Oysters were great, although there’s no regional selections of the oyster where you can pick (east coast or west coast). The sauce that came with it was a bad pick, there’s a reason certain Asian sauce does not mix well with raw seafood, for instance, here they served the Korean sweet and mild sauce which clashed with the salty oyster taste. We ordered two sets of wings in soy / garlic sauce and spicy sauce. Garlic sauce was good, flavorful, but BarKogi on midtown east had better wings. Really disappointed with the spicy wings, where they did not marinate the chicken and the meat was bland. Very good garlic curly fries tho, they probably double fried it and the fries managed to stay crispy after an hour, not too salty either! Pricing wise, except oyster and shrimp cocktail was a dollar each, everything else on the happy hour menu is not NYC happy hour friendly, on the higher range. Overall, it was 3.5/5 for my 2.5 hours dining experience.

Abdallah abu ghalyoun

The Korean food here is very delicious and very creatively presented. The choices for drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic are plenty and you won't be disappointed. The interior design is superb!! Check out the wall panel infront of the bathrooms: it shows a looping video of some Korean scenes that are worth spending a few minutes watching. If you happen to be at the Farmer's Market in Union Square and you are hungry, do check out this place and enjoy the food and drinks!

Debbie

My go-to spot for friend reunions! Perfect place to welcome folks in from out of town!

Carla Wilkins

Loved the chicken and the tiger roll. Noticed a lot of the dishes have similar seasonings which dims the palate experience, but in all fairness, we ordered it. Lol

MickMick NYC

We were a group of 12 people. Everyone loved the appetizers, rice cake, kimchi and the fries were the best. Barbecue was fun and delicious (but a little bit hot and smoky). Bibimbap was also great. We sat on the second floor and we could hear each other and have a decent conversation. The place is low in light and the tables are limited to max of 10 people.

George Olesh

Great food. Good happy hour prices

Justin Vieira

Came here on a Friday night for dinner and drinks. The bar here has a really cool design, when you walk in you feel like you're either in the belly of a sailing ship or in the"Me against the music" music video. Overall, it's an awesome vibe. Service here is straight to the point with a smile. Didn't take long to get a table and the server gave us enough time to look at the menu for both drinks and food which was nice to order all at once. The drinks here are great, the appetizers are on the pricey side (frankly, the whole menu is Imho but that's neither here nor there). I got the Bimimbop. The stone bowl was hot throughout the meal, fantastic as the meal is a great slow burn. There is a perfect mix of vegetables, proteins, and starch. I'd highly recommend this place looking if you're looking for delicious Korean food with a hip atmosphere.

Mark Spader

Really tasty, great ambience, and good service

Kissairy Alifonso

Amazing place

Siewkeng Kee

I love this place! Ate here a few times. Great atmosphere, great service and best of all great foods. Manager AL is so welcoming and friendly. No wonder they always busy.

Andrew McDaniel

Pretty decent Korean BBQ place. The number of sides was a bit limited but it did include lots of delicious pickles. KBBQ option/combo can be a bit spendy, but you do get a ton of food, do at least you'll leave full.

Keno'e Mullings

Everything was so tasty. 9/10 recommend

Steven Russo

Great, fun restaurant! The food is so delicious! It's a cool, unique dinner spot. It's fun to get to grill and cook your own food at the table. Good cocktails. The staff was great and friendly. Highly recommend eating here.

W M

Super cool restaurant! The high ceiling and decorations are very chic. The staff are friendly. My son and I had lunch here. Food was delicious!

Ismael Bennett

I can't get this BBQ out of my head. They served the best brisket, pulled pork and ribs I've ever tried. The mac-n-cheese was baked warm with bread crumbles on top -- soo delicious! The line was long, but moved quickly on the sunny day I was there. The picnic table area made for the perfect lunch setting. Definitely a mouth watering 'Dives and Diners' type of spot - I'll be sure to go again!

Momof3 Scholars

The line was out the door and down the street a bit at 10:30 pm o Friday night but it was well worth the wait. Unfortunately our phone batteries were dead by this point so no pictures. It was a bit dark inside for me but great atmosphere and everything was SO delicious. If I lived in New York I would want to become a regular here and try everything on the menu upstairs and downstairs. I Love that they stay open late.

Melvin Johnson

Really enjoyed my lunch. Fast and friendly service. Got the fried chicken sandwich and it was great. Nice and crispy. Truffle fries were great. Highly recommend.

Carson George

This place is one of my absolute favorite ways to spend an afternoon in NYC. They open right at noon so you can get in with no wait at all! The food is always top notch and the service is pleasant and kind. I highly recommend this place! Especially in a group!

carlos borges

Good and inventive korean food.

Максим Шилкин

Nasty lousy slow staff. Had to wait for my food almost half an hour. Ridiculous. Never again.

Shimki Chowdhury

Amazing Korean BBQ

Paul Imocha

Good food fresh but not recommend sausage

Robert Berry

Had a decent Bibimbap and cocktail here. People sat next to us had truffle fries, which smelled incredible. Next time I go I will order those.

Pale Embers

Love the vibe and atmosphere of this place, Great happy hour specials to, include the food. Highly recommend thanks for making my pride a great one.

Phoebe Mok

Enjoyed their korean cuisines! Will recommend!

DJ Transaction

Came here to eat a couple of times. Their dishes are very tasty. Here is what the scallops looks like. Gets more stars because it is a nice location next to the park, subway, and many stores.

Family Fan

Good appetizers and great selection of whiskies. The atmosphere is cool and decor is nice.

Justin Latham

Pretty good Korean bbq. Last time I was here I had the garlic shrimp tacos which were great. It came with a very lovely sauce. I also really like their truffle fries which are just that perfect level of crispy

Éric Dubé

Beautiful restaurant! Drinks are good and spicy beef ramen is amazing!!

Joe Graboff

Our go to for oyster happy hour for last 18 months or so. The dollar oysters are always really good and fresh. The fried calamari and chicken wings are also very good and a good value. The happy hour drinks are all very good and affordable. My only gripe is this place is no longer a secret and we have had some trouble getting seating the last couple of visits. Maybe it's time for us to move on and find the next trendy spot.

D X

Whike oysters are only $1 at happy hour... Not worth it. They don't shuck to order, it's just a guy shucking away and layering them up in a sink behind the bar. Oysters had relatively no liquor when served and and texture is like cold jello. I've been here a few times and always the same. not sure on the other food, but oysters are a bust.

Yair Pike

Awesome food, awesome environment and awesome staff

Harsweet

Love the ambience and food is really good too. Location is plus point, it's just outside of union square west subway station between 5th and Broadway on 16th. It gets pretty busy there, seating is casual.

Gregor J. Rothfuss

The food is quite tasty on delivery, but they suck at following instructions like no plastic spoons etc.

elliott cordo

Pretty good food.. Wish my ramen was a little spicier but overall tasty. The place itself is really nicely designed.

Angela H

We came here for BBQ brunch and had a pleasant meal. The service was pleasant and attentive. The food came out quick and was tasty.

Helen Zhao

Delicious Korean BBQ - they give you a ton of meat in the combo deals. We were all stuffed by the end of it. Side dishes are tasty, Korean tacos and bulgogi steamed buns were amazing. Free birthday shots of soju. Booth seating on the second floor is very comfy, bathrooms are clean. Cons: you have to cook the meat yourself

Li Ting Wong

I ordered NY bite, the steak was so good! Totally didnt expect it. The waitress who served us was nice and cheerful, the other waiters were attentive as well. Everything on my table is good!

Yuming Qin

Enjoyed the food! I like that they aren't as stingy with the spice and the pickled flavors as other places. Shared some truffle fries and those were very enjoyable, in addition to my own kimchi fried rice. The serving sizes seemed pretty generous but most of the options are on the pricy side.

Matthew Y.

The atmosphere and banchan was good. Got the all you can eat bbq with the family which seemed very reasonably priced. Unfortunately, meat was not seasoned properly/minimally/tastefully. Meat took forever to come out although I think that was the kitchen and not the server. Plus the grill was stuck on like medium-low heat so it took literally FOREVER to cook the food. Seems like a good place to have a drink assuming the bar operates within normal expectations but would definitely NOT recommend any grill food all you can eat or otherwise given the snail’s pace of both the meat coming out as well as how long it takes to cook on the warm-ish grills. Pretty disappointed after seeing the reviews.

johan guams

One of the best Korean BBQ I’ve ever had. I wanna go back everyday ! I HIGHLY recommend to go there the meat is so good ! I just regret there is no mix of meats. Like beef and pork. You have to choose, or pay more. Too bad. In some of them we can.

Marbella Raposo

The serrano Margarita is to die for... food is delicious

Jenn L

Really satisfying Korean BBQ without the smoke!

Flo -

Small table, great food. The drinks and buns are especially nice.

Jorge Sandoval

The ambiance of this place is definitely unique. It has a sort of nautical decor, but not really, haha, I don't really know how to describe it, but it was cool. We went for the Korean BBQ and feel that we had a sufficient amount of food for the price. The size of the grill itself was kind of inhibiting who can eat, and how much they could eat, because of how small it was. Other than that it was good. The BBQ uses a filament heater instead of a fire, so there is less of a chance of you getting burned.

Haneul Oh

Great spot to get oysters ($1 during happy hour)! Lunch and dinner menu are on the pricier side, but are good quality korean food. I do think there are better options in St. Marks Place. Not sure if the barbecue is worth the price though.

Janine Serioux

Went there for the happy hour with a co-worker. Happy Hour prices are honored at the bar only FYI. I had a tasty roll and truffle fries. My co-worker ordered a delicious looking plate of oysters and cocktail shrimp. I had the 1-Thyme (soju based cocktail) and Elder Fashioned (old fashioned with St Germain), both were delicious. Would definitely go again for a proper dinner or lunch.

Rob Jelinski

The truffle fries, Mac and cheese and beef noddle bowl was insanely amazing!! So fresh, uniquely tasty, and generous portions... this is a gem! Eat here!!

eric cheng

This is a good Korean restaurant that I have in NYC, service is good, food is good.

Marianna Soffer

The seafood paella was very good!

Luay Alyass

Loved the food and the service, kinda two set of restaurants in one (Asian). Their cocktails are incredible. It is a bit pricy to be honest $$$ but worth it. We got the Tuna Tartar (left) and Jesus! it was so good and delicious. Also we shared the tiger rolls (right) it was really great and we loved the atmosphere and the gigantic moon in the middle haha enjoy :)

C. Kelly Newman

I come here for the wings. They’re awesome and addictive. I’m sure other things are delicious as well, but I haven’t been able to bring myself to order anything else. There is a cocktail based on cucumber and dill that is quite tasty. Also nice atmosphere and waitstaff. Always a good choice.

Shuki Hasson

It is just a great spot for lunch or dinner or both, great staff, nice interior and good food!

Rachel Tseng

Good kbbq. They have a cool roulette thing you can spin to win free stuff. Happy hour only at the bar and not at table.

keian rogers

They never disappoint the food is always good

Inna Levinson

Great place for a non-pretentious, affordable Korean fusion dinner. Beware of quinoa - it's I'm almost every dish we tried.

Pat B

Have to say we were disappointed given the great reviews. Great atmospher, fairly good food but average service. We had read good things about Barn Joo and were excited to try it. Although the food was good for the most part we were really disappointed by the service. There were mistakes with our order and one of our main dishes came out about 10 minutes later than the first dish and one shared dish arrived well after we had finished. Would def suggest avoiding the calamari as it was over cooked and tough.

Jameson Photography

A little pricey but worth it. The beef combo on the Korean BBQ menu was excellent. The food paired well with their house cab. The staff was nice. They gave us a nice spot upstairs before the rush so it was nice and private. Small Beef combo and 4 glasses of wine $120, more than enough food for 2 people, not enough for 3 but a great date option. I recommend!

Marcio Profili

Excellent food, service and location. The menu has many options of great food and wines.

Melanie Tam

My friends were craving some oysters, so I found Barn Joo, which had $1 happy hour oysters. Once we arrived, the hostess told us that happy hour (including the oysters) were at the bar only (even though I had been to their other location by K-town, and the specials applied at the table too, but whatever. I will let this go) The bar area was packed to the BRIM on a Friday evening, so there was no way we were getting that special. So we just grabbed a few drinks and then they sat us at our table, which we had made a reservation for. We didn't do the BBQ but decided to order a few dishes to share instead. Here is everything we had: Tuna Mayo Tartare (tuna, pickled radish, chives, mayonnaise, sesame oil, garlic bruschetta with honey drizzle) - this tastes better than it looks. I could have done with a bit less mayo, but it was a nice change from the typical sesame oil tartare you'd get everywhere else Korean Pancake w Scallion - pretty standard, nothing to write home about Uni Bibim Paella (rice on a sizzling hot stone plate topped with uni, cured shrimp, capelin roe, pickled radish, kimchi, quinoa, egg and seaweed puree) - this was probably my favorite. The rice at the bottom was crisp, like clay pot rice. There were also a lot of flavors going on, but in a good way. Braised Octopus (octopus, marble potatoes, black bean, shishito peppers, ginger, bean sprouts, gochujang chili sauce) - octopus was nice and tender Seared Scallops (scallops, fresh corn, parmesan, sweet potato, zucchini, lemon aioli) - scallops could have been cooked for a few seconds less, but pretty good overall. I really liked the corn salad that came with it Galbi Steak aka NY Bites (marinated short rib, grilled lemon, kabocha squash, hemp seeds, butter sauteed mushrooms) - the steak was good but I feel like the star of the show here was the butter sauteed mushrooms. It was a little too much food for four ladies, but I'm glad we tried everything that we did. Now, if only we could have had some of those $1 oysters (triple the price for non-HH, which we did not feel like doing).

Ryan L

Amazing food is so good and bartenders are very nice

Sam dela Cruz

The food is delicious. It has a great ambiance and the service is wonderful.

Bishon Wagner

The spicy chicken wings are delicious.

Diana Arias

Great place for happy hour drinks, except you can only do the specials at the bar. The food here is always great.

Dev Dav

Great Happy Hour near the office w awesome food and drink deals!!!

Shailendra P

Always busy on a Thursday night, which is a good sign. Great food, few vegetarian options as opposed to other K-town restaurants which could have none. Fancy drinks, one cocktail had a light ball in it. Good décor. Check out the moon poster in the men's bathroom.

Reinaldo Reinoso

Nice place. You need a reservation for a table. Good atmosphere. I didn't try the food but it's looks really good

Amanda Sue

Loved the food! They had one dollar oysters during happy hour which were delicious. As well as their fried chicken wings, I ate 2 orders of those. I would definitely go back again!

bluelebowski

Nice restaurant, only had drinks but service was great and the interior is super.

Julio Huillcatanda

The best place in union square, great service , great drinks, the best bartenders , Angelica and Marvin.

Christopher Williams

Ate at the bar for lunch. Terrific selection of Bourbons and ryes. Had pork dumplings and bulgogi bibimbap, both were very tasty, if somewhat unremarkable. Decor is a little all over the place, but it is a comfortable and airy space. Will be back for sure.

Brett Goffin

Good in theory but not for me... service was pretty bad (not enough servers). The BBQ is just not as enjoyable as it is in theory. Too much work.

Arthur Brombacher

Excellent experience here. The food is delicious, the drink options fit well with what you eat. The atmosphere is hard to beat too!

Leslie Hellebuyck

Great atmosphere and food.

Benjamin Romero

I love this place. Service is Excellent, decor Excellent, food Excellent (love the oysters). Great drinks also.

Nichole Acosta

Beef short ribs are excellently flavored and hearty. Great date nigh spot

Julia S

Love the atmosphere, food and drinks. (Also dollar oysters and their happy hour menu!)

Krizia Gravina

They raised their happy hours prices it use to be a dollar per item, prices were raised by $2 dollars and the portions significantly reduced suuupper disappointed at this place it use to be a fav for happy hour not worth the time anymore

Hao Tan

The $1 oyster and shrimp daily happy hour (4-7pm) is one of the best in my opinion! If you're craving oysters and the $1 juiciest cocktail shrimp this is the spot to get it! Drinks are a little on the higher side for happy hour but if oysters and shrimp are what you're craving, this is THE spot!!

German Voronov

I liked it. No thrills korean food. Good variety of dishes. Good service. Very reasonable prices.

Charlie J

Enjoyed the lunch menu. Truffle fries were pretty good and I loved the house drink that they serve in mason jars. Dessert was also amazing

Penelope Pelton

This place was great. The fried asparagus is a must. I liked how one of my friends was able to order a dish for herself, the rest of us split a bunch of small plates, and everyone was happy.

Stanley Wentworth

Great food. Nice service. Good but small martinis

Dennis Denev

This is my fav happy hour bar in Union SQ area. Large bar area , good service and small appetizers

Geeta Belas

Usually the food is excellent but today it was awful. It took a really long time to arrive and when it did, the scallion pancake was raw and the ramyun was mushy instant ramen! I asked the server if it was instant a he just offered me something else.

Stephanie Bell

Pricey but really good. The atmosphere is great as well. Great menu, even my picky 9 year old enjoyed it. Try the fresh ginger limeade, very refreshing! The only reason it won't get 5 stars is the price. I'm not sure three small steamed buns are worth $23 as an appetizer.

Alex D

It's a solid NYC hip Korean BBQ experience. Good food, good booze, hip interior design. Go search for your soul in the pleasures of food and drink and flirtation after selling it to corporate NYC for 90k+/yr.

Lilian Nogueira

This place has a very tasty food! Tuna tartar, crunchy tofu and chicken wings are delicious. The beef BBQ is made with good quality meat. The service is good, they didn't try to dump us out once we were done. The music was a bit too loud for my taste. I totally recommend this place!

Mikhail Bluvshteyn

This place has great happy hour price for; beer, a few mixed drinks, 1$ oysters, shrimp and amazing wings. Plus the rest of menu is delicious.

Michael Desposito

Liked coming here on lunch breaks from work. Good french fries and table snacks and decent priced margaritas for the middle of the day. Love the decor too.

Tiffany Cheng

Barn Joo has an excellent happy hour. It's great for a quick drink and some gastropub Korean snacks. I really love their French fries and the staff are always excellent. Expect a full house during happy hours. Dinner is also good, a bit pricey, but good.

Ashish Kumar

I am writing this review based upon my two visits to the place. There won't be a third one. The good: Drinks, especially the happy hour drinks and appetizers. The bad: You can't order happy hour items if you are sitting at the dinner table. You have to sit at the bar or some area, reserved for happy hour. This was a deal breaker, even though we were there for dinner too. The hostess never told us about separate BBQ tables, taking out the BBQ option from choices. It was too late to move as no BBQ tables were available. Don't expect those freebies like Kimchi and other stuff, at the regular dinner table. Not everything is great. Fire chicken fondue ($19) was below average. I don't understand how someone could come up with that recipe. Galbi Steak ($36) was ordinary and just luke warm. No attention to details. We had to ask for serving spoons. We had to use small appetizer plates to eat the meals. In summary, the place is not worth its hype and the price, they get away with it because of being in the close proximity to Union Square.

Zou Xue

Spacious place with really good food. I think it’s more Korean fusion than Korean.

Richard Cacace

While I did enjoy the food and the drinks we went there for happy hour so $8 beers and $9 appetizers for three people came out to $130 to me that's not happy hour. I will not be going back nor will my friends

Matthew Vandergrift

Go for the all you can eat lunch special. It’s a great deal for $26. The meat is excellent - you choose what you want and they keep bringing it for you to cook. Simple! Sides, especially the egg soufflé, are quite good. Service is quick and efficient, decor and seating and relaxed but classy.

Agatha Wong

Hood food but a bit over priced for lunch.

Nicholas Delzingaro

Great korean barbeque in the 14st area.

Ben H

Waiter arrived quickly, was kind and help with recommendations and portion size questions. Food came quickly and was tasty. We had fries, steamed dumplings, and the roe bibimbap. After that service basically stopped. We no longer saw our waiter again and the one person who came back to our table after a long wait was exceptionally rude. She took another order of drinks but after another 15 minutes nothing arrived and we had to seek her out to get our check. The check had the drinks we ordered and after asking them to be removed, she didn't believe we never received them and consulted the bartender. No apologies, continued rudeness. Shame about the poor service, because the food was good. Won't be returning.

fen war

Nothing wrong in any real sense, its just a typical bar restaurant.

Bianca Ng

Love this place! It's pricey, but worth it. No matter what I try, it's always delicious. Everything is flavorful and the place never feels too overcrowded despite being popular. To be safe, make a reservation!

Chan Woo Park

9 of us visited on Wednesday for lunch around noon. The restaurant was pretty empty. The server was very nice but I thought it took a bit too long to get our food, especially considering there were almost no other people in the restaurant when we arrived. My uni bibimbab was pretty good. I thought it felt fresh and lots of different vegetables added interesting flavors and texture to the dish. They forgot to give us the soup until I finished the meal.

Sara Rehart

Been to the Barn Joo in Ktown and wanted to try this place. Came for HH but they didnt have anymore tables so they gave us one of the korean BBQ tables upstairs. But they seated us way in the back, next to the table they use of their wait staff. So a bit awkward. We ordered drinks, the lavendar vodka drink, which was pretty good. Truffle fries and oysters were also delicious and came out quickly! Server was attentive.

Edgar

This place would get 5 stars if it were a little cheaper. Don’t get the fried calamari. It’s tasteless. Truffle fries are a good deal. The Korean Fried Chicken in soy garlic is by far the best in the area. The Citrus salt and pepper version is junk.

Marc Choi

Cool, but let's be honest, their Korean dishes sucks.

Richard Bedford

Nice patio. Great service. Clean. The tofu kimchi was well done

Betty Mak

Nice place to grab a drink and some wings. Dog friendly outdoor seating, slightly tight but good people watching

Milton Johnson

I was in the area and in the mode to watch the World Cup and get some food. Mission accomplished. The Prime Rib burger was very tastey and the fries delicious (5 stars), the Sangria was decent (3.5 stars), the fried chicken dumplings (3.5 stars the decor) seating and rest rooms (4.5 stars). I would recommend.

Wendrich Montero

Every corner of this place is picture worth it. Beautiful decor. Great selection of comfort food and amazing people. I was surprised to find so much quality right in the heart of Union Sq. When you know that it's a very busy area and the good restaurants are very few. Diego was our server and he was very helpful answering our questions and customizing our food options.

DAVE W.

We were looking for Korean BBQ outside of Korean Town, and this place did not disappoint! Man, the Pork Combo was not only plenty of food in a considerable portion, but it was also some of the best Marinated Pork out there. We are from Iowa and this was good pork...trust me, we know good pork. We opted for cooking at out table and recommended the place to others that we met on our trip.

David Zinin

After reading other reviews i will sum up my 2 hour experience here. The staff is friendly but not really well educated in client relations. It’s like a free for all, no coordination at all. Happy hour drinks - nothing happy about them lol, a bit pricey but what can we do. The oysters - stay away, not tasty, low quality, was dissappointed. The fries were good, but very oily, the drinks had cheap alcohol in it and though tasty not worth the $$.... i give it 2 stars.

Stern Huang

A slightly westernized take on Korean BBQ. If you're looking for authentic Korean food, it isn't here. But if you're not accustomed to foreign cuisines yet, this is a great option. Good quality meats with softer seasonings makes for Korean BBQ that tasted like a well cooked steak. Make sure to make a reservation on Resy to get a free spin on their wheel. We got free fries!

Jesse Moore Perrin

Had a work dinner at Barn Joo Union Square last night and as always it was a grand experience. We first started with drinks at the bar, as expected the staff was super friendly and attentive, the drinks were delicious and small bites were fab. After dinner we headed upstairs for a great meal, again our waitress was super sweet, the duck buns were to die for and we ended with the churros for dessert. Everything from the ambiance, presentation, staff and food was amazing. AND we were hosting a manager from our UK office, she said it was one of her favorite dining experiences in the city.

Amazing!!! As usual.

Great group spot. Love the truffle fries

This is a loud Korean restaurant. Conversations across the table are not feasible because of the noise level inside. If you order the fish tacos you are supposed to eat them with chop sticks. My salad came with a spoon to eat. After finishing the salad it turned out the restaurant had forgotten the seasoning/dressing. They just shrugged it off. All in all not a great experience.

A little pricy but food was good. Had the Korean bbq and waiter made excellent recommendations of drinks and extra sides. Attentive staff!

This is the best priced Korean BBQ restaurant (that has a nice, upscale interior) that I have visited in recent memory. Their all you can eat BBQ menus are great, especially because you can switch up meat requests with subsequent rounds. Their a la carte menu also rocks, especially because it features hard-to-find gems such as omurice. Would definitely visit again.

This place is worth trying. They have large portions for fair prices. Regularly well organized and with excellent character. Will visit here again.

We enjoyed a cool and cozy interior of this place. All staff was friendly and seemed happy. I tried bibimbap and it turned out to be delicious. I also really liked their home-made Kim-Chi. Good place ✅

I love this place! They changed the interior from a few years back and it’s better than ever. Came here for happy hour— $1 oysters and a few appetizers. I love that quality of food doesn’t change over the years. Good place to come for just dinner or even for a night out. Love the moon in the center of their bar!

Good mid-range Korean BBQ. The matcha is not authentic.

I had a 50th b-day party there and the food service was simply delicious. If you love Korean food then you must try this place!

Experience here was great. I ordered the truffle fries, chicken Katsu and the bibimbap with the extra add-ons for $4. The chicken Katsu was pretty good, not too much breading and it came with rice and salad. The sauce was a bit too sweet for my liking but it was still great. The truffle fries were really good, they came with ketchup and another spicy sauce which were both good. Finally, the bibimbap was probably my favorite. The sides were pretty good and the sauce it came it was good as well. Make sure to mix the bowl well to ensure it tastes it's best. Oh, the service was great too!

Visited for happy hour. They have great specialty cocktails, beer, wine and a few food items on the happy hour menu. Their location in Union Square has a sizable bar so getting seats was not an issue. Service was very attentive and fast.

We picked Barn Joo because we were seeing a show at Irving Plaza and it's very close. We checked the menu ahead of time, because I'm vegetarian even though my wife is not. There were plenty of vegetarian options though. We tried the fried asparagus, which was really good, the fried tofu dumplings (soy garlic) which were really good, the skin is so crispy and delicious, the crispy tofu, which is double-fried and very tasty, the potato croquettes, which were a new take on the traditional bonchon potato salad, where the potato salad is mashed into a patty and lightly breaded and fried with a sauce similar to tonkatsu, and we shared a dolsot bibimbap with mushrooms and tofu. That was excellent. If you're vegetarian or have a shellfish allergy, be aware that they do ferment their kimchi with shrimp, so my wife had the kimchi and I did not. All in all, pretty good. Prices aren't bad, though their markup on Soju is like 450%, LOL, Manhattan...

I've been here once before and thought it was a pretty good experience but not worth coming back for another meal. However, today i happen to be in the area and decided to give it another try and boy am I glad I did. We ordered the popcorn chicken, braised short ribs and Sashimi rice bowl. Every dish blew me away. The popcorn chicken was a bit spicy, crispy and sitting on a bed of a light creamy cheesy sauce. The peanuts weren't necessary but oh well it was just there. Braised short ribs was sitting on a bed of truffle-y sauce and the sweet and juicy ribs fell right off the bones. Great choice of veggies in the stew. Lastly the Sashimi bowl was refreshing, fragrant from the seaweed, sesame oil, and the best part were some sort of grains that gave each bite a crunchy texture. The service was excellent, they kept filling my water. Fast and efficient. Love the place!

Great happy hour

Yummy food right in Times Square. Their style is more modern/westernized Korean so they have tacos and burgers Korean style along with some Korean staples such as bibimbap

When I arrived, there were a really kind bartender shoulder length, blonde hair, fair skin gentleman who acknowledged & showed outstanding customer service to me while at the bar. Sadly his shift ended around 10PM with a kind Goodnight & smile, he get ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️......However, the nightmare began with the 1 and only bartender who had blonde & black short, mix color haircut with fair skin who didn’t acknowledge or greet me. He was rude & showed very poor customer service. It’s like I didn’t exist because he didn’t check on me not once and clearly left my services up to the busser. Just so upsetting

This place is one of my absolute favorite ways to spend an afternoon in NYC. They open right at noon so you can get in with no wait at all! The food is always top notch and the service is pleasant and kind. I highly recommend this place! Especially in a group!

This place was amazing. We came here for Happy hour around 6 on on a Friday and it was kinda crowded. The ambience is amazing. They got a spin wheel but this is only for dinner only. We ordered the spicy pork Bibi and the spicy pork tacos. Both the dishes were amazing loved it.
