The order was fast and the server was so nice but the food was luke warm and bland. The corn bread was good, but cold.

Corey Boucher

I had a chicken pot pie and mashed potatoes. The food was ok. I wouldn't order that meal again. I'd say for a restaurant, the chicken pot pie was below my expectations. The mashed potatoes were on the bland side. The restaurant serves a decent portion, I didn't leave hungry. The service was friendly and attentive. The interior of the restaurant has a home cooked family restaurant feel. A little like a diner.

I did not like the haddock, it tasted frozen. But the chicken and sides were great.

My waitress Angela opitimizes service with a smile! The food was served quickly, hot and was delicious. We had chicken tenders with steamed broccoli and honey-dill carrots with an assortment of dipping sauces. Also, had a blackened chicken breast and the servings are huge. When looking for healthy, simple food this is where I will go!!!

I have been a regular customer at this restaurant for years. I work shift work and often get food from Bob's because it is as healthy as it gets without making it in your own kitchen. Everything is made from scratch and I have never had any issues. The service is personal and the take out is convenient.

I didn't go in because I saw the person wipe the seats then the table with same rag. At least wipe the tops first then the seat.

We have lived in Portsmouth for a year and a half, today we tried Bob's broiled chicken. One word, perfection. We have a 3&1/2 year old and a 2 year old little girls. Our waitress Arlene was kind, courteous, welcoming, and generally made us feel like we were having a pleasant dinner with friends rather than simply dining out. Before we were settled in our booth, she had brought a pail of crayons for the girls and extra blank placemats to color on, as well as taking drink orders and immediately bringing warm corn bread and butter. She gave us the perfect amount of time to peruse the menu while being attentive but not smothering. We placed our order and she took every thing down flawlessly. The girls split the chicken tenders (they were indeed tender) mashed potatoes, and penne and cheese. My wife had a leg and thigh quarter, sausage stuffing, and chicken gravy as her dipping sauce. I had 2 leg and thigh quarters (with the intention of saving the second for lunch however the amazing chicken gravy ruined that plan, before I knew it both were gone). I also had the sausage stuffing and garlic parsley potatoes. The potatoes were lovely perfectly cooked small red potatoes, and the stuffing.... I must say, my grandmother passed away in summer of 2009. Today took me by surprise simply because it was the first time I tasted her stuffing since then. It was absolutely spot on. So if anyone noticed a larger gentleman with a tear in his eye eating dinner, its because this restaurant brought back many many wonderful memories. In conclusion if affordability, quality, comfort, and atmosphere is what you look for when dining out, then look no farther. I cannot for the life of me see why there isn't a lineout the door permanently. And for the person who commented "you could cook this at home" not everyone can that's why Bob's is a Godsend. In closing, thank you so so much to the staff, the owners, and everyone involved, you truly have a hidden jewel in this restaurant. Anyone who chooses the soulless, pretentious garbage slung at you downtown, at the price of a small starter home, over the quality simply prepared yet delicious ingredients at Bob's broiled chicken, needs to either be under the care of a psychologist, or admit they don't know what good is. From our family to yours Bob, thanks again and we look forward to coming back. (P.S. as a rotund gentleman, the fact your booth tables can slide and aren't locked in a set distance from the booth, allowing me to sit comfortably and not in a death grip means very much. Thanks)

Great chicken pot pie. The chicken is also great. The stuffing not so much, and the service was terrible.

Chicken lovers: This is the place for you! The cornbread is as scrumptious as the Annebelles ice cream. Entrees....well you need to experience it for yourself for words fall short.

Terry Gadoury

This place is awesome! Everything always tastes delicious, homemade and healthy! The chicken is always moist. Their stuffing one of the best in town! Not to mention the large selection of homemade pies. They have free parking and not expensive! I will be back. Great place to check out when your looking for the perfect balance between quality and value!

Dave Costa

The chicken is great, the sides are very good and leave room for the homemade pie!

Ben Ericson

Bob is a master at cooking chicken. The wings are fantastic. No beer on tap but they do have bottles, and home made pies! There is more than chicken to eat, and I didn't see anything boiled on the menu.

Paul Gilbert

Good home cooking. My go to place for wings. Excellent selection of deserts, pleasant staff. Best price in town for dining out.

This is Me

We went here last week. Service was excellent and friendly. Food was really good, taste and portions. We'll be back for sure!!

Stephen Priest

The food was good and well cooked. I had the broiled chicken with broccoli, squash, mac and cheese and seasoned carrots. Prices reasonable, though, it is always cheaper to do yourself, if you have the time. Service was good and friendly.

Jason Peter

Joseph McDonough

Home cooked food. What is not to love?

My wife and I always go here when near Portsmouth! The best Freshest Cornbread served warm before every meal is always a treat! The Chicken Tenders meal, with the different homemade sauces to choose from are the best! I always get this! Everyone I've introduced to this place absolutely love it, you won't be disappointed at all. . . .Oh the chocolate chip cookies are out of this world too, by far the best ones I've ever had and I've had a lot of chocolate chip cookies! If you enjoy eating Chicken, go here the prices are great and food always great! You won't be let down, and of course they do serve soups and salads for those who don't want chicken. :)

The chicken is usually absolutely delicious... Homemade gravy and vegetables as well as all the fixin's... Can't go wrong with the food quality and The Price is Right!

Rainbow The Macaw

We always enjoy a great chicken dinner at Bob's. Decent servings, very reasonable price. Family owned and operated. Well worth a visit.

Suzanne Snyder

The rotisserie chicken was dry, the mashed potatoes and carrots had no flavor and could of been cooked longer and they forgot to pack our sauces. Won't be back.

Malcolm Boynton

Never eaten inside but take out regularly (1+/week). Usually get "rotisserie dinner for four" (quartered chicken) with mashed, stuffing, gravy, and either butternut Squash (my fav) or honey dill carrots (her fav). All are consistently good - even the cornbread (fav of our offspring). Now I realize that taste is subjective. Best to try it for yourself. I think most will walk away satisfied with thoughts of returning.

Brian R

Very friendly, very good, and very reasonably priced.

My family has been going to Bob's for many many many years since I was just a young child. We would go on Thursday evenings before grocery shopping. My family still goes to Bob's but now it is on Saturday Evenings! We have branched out and my family now goes (myself, husband and our children) to as well as my aunt and my parents. It becomes a family event. We love the service seeing the same people who have worked there for years and building a relationship with them is wonderful! The food is also amazing. Between my whole family we have tried everything on the menu and it never serves to disappoint! We love the family atmosphere and will continue to come in the future. Thank you for having a resteraunt like Bob's in the community! Two thumbs up!

Bomb!

Rob Curry

fantastic homemade chicken dishes, the tenders are the best around! The homemade sauces, especially the honey mustard and unique and delicious too. The atmosphere is quite a bit dated, but go for the food, not the wallpaper!

love it, home cooking

My husband and I enjoy dinner at Bob's Broiled Chicken every week! It's one of our favorite restaurants! The staff is helpful and friendly, but mostly, the food is wonderful. All homemade and fresh and made with love. We have our favorites, but anything we've tried on their menu has been delicious. We highly recommend Bob's as a "must try" place to eat. Very family friendly!

Charlie Nitschelm

Bob's Broiled Chicken volunteered and hosted a newly formed Clipper Chicken Club. The service and friendliness that radiated from everyou waiter was impeccable. If you are deciding on what restaurant you want your family to eat at, Bob's is the best choice!

Mark Volante

Best kept secret in Portsmouth, NH. Very unassuming from the outside, but consistently has the best tasting chicken (and sides) at the most reasonable prices in town. You really can't go wrong here, get a Half-chicken and two sides and be full for the entire day. I recommend to everyone who visits.
